You get what you pay for. They have great amenities, beach cruisers, surf boards, skates exc exc.  The rooms are clean and cute. My sheets were stained which freaked me out a bit. The customer service was sucked. The people who work there are super oblivious to whats around. I wanted to go out to eat grab a drink or something like that, so i asked one of the workers for some suggestions he said he didnt know and gave me no answer.

Lovely staff, seconds away from the beach and the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk.  Freshly remodeled hotel and hostel. The Pea in a Pod rooms (2 people max) were simple, nice and most importantly clean. Bicycles, surfboards, computers and bbq grills are available with the reception. Great if you don't want to spend a lot of money and  don't want to stay in a dive.

Great place for the best bang of buck. Nice cozy rooms. Plus they had free rentals for bikes and surf boards. Very easy going and fun staff.

Gave it 2 1/2 stars out of the 5. Been at better and worse places in the area. Stayed in a hotel room for a few nights. It was just okay, if the place did some minor things that could of made a big difference.

The good - location, bike usage, price, clean, beach chairs

The bad - noisy air conditioners next to the patio areas, noisy night club next door, no coffee makers in the rooms, gnaralized  surfboard.

Got a recommendation from some friends who stayed here, so took their word for it. Let's just say know of  much nicer & quiet places in town for about the same price range.

This seems like a good place for singles in their 20's looking for a drunken crash pad.

I stayed here over the weekend after the big Hollywood Beach yelp pub crawl. I don't drink drive, nor did I fancy spending $200 for a place to crash for the night.

So I got a bunk bed here for $20. Can't beat that for a place to crash for a few hours. I rolled in the place in the middle of the night drunk off my face, climbed into my bunk and slept like a baby.

Unlike most American hostels, this one was more to a European standard. Clean, tidy and very safe!

Despite my appearance in the morning. I was groggy, contacts stuck to my eyeballs, dressed in nightlife gear from the night before, and fake tattoos on my neck and chest. Looking very rough, but everyone was polite and friendly. I will certainly stay here again when i'm drinking in the area!!

Clean, comfortable and spacious hostel.  The location is perfect-- right on the beach and next to many local eateries and shops.  The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly, especially Pamela.  I look forward to returning in the near future!

That's what you hear in your room, all night long, thanks to the genius who decided to put an outdoor CONCERT SPACE five feet away from a whole row of rooms. The "family" rooms, no less.

Steer clear of this disaster at all costs. Unless, of course, you're in your early 20s and are on Ecstasy. Then you might like it.

Let me explain.

We booked this hotel months and months in advance of a 3-day holiday weekend. We also have a little baby, so we asked for a) a 2-room suite, and b) something QUIET. We were assured of this, even after several follow-up phone calls, confirming our reservation. We were even told about "the music from the restaurant" but each time we were assured 100% that we were taken care of. But when we finally got there, tired and lugging a bunch of luggage, the "night manager" tried to pass off a teeny "studio" room toward the back of the hotel as our "suite." Hmmmm. No bueno.

Turns out they had totally mangled our reservation, and the only real 2-room suite left was the room right on the corner of the "band shell."

Wait. What?

They apparently had put other people in the other "quieter" 2-room suites who had arrived a few days before us. But, even though we had booked the "quiet" room, they had erroneously given out all of the quieter rooms (all to people without kids, with one exception), and refused to make up for their mistake.

For those of you who have never worked in a hotel (I have) you make sure you have flexibility in these kinds of situations. If you have, say,  "quiet" room, and you have, say, a family with a baby coming to stay with you, you put that family in that room.

And even if you have other people who want a "quiet room," even if they arrive before, if they booked AFTER the family with the baby, you still save that "quiet" room for the people with the baby.

This is the furthest thing from rocket science.

So there we were, a tired couple with a sad baby, late at night, and this wiz of a hotel had given away our room. And there were ZERO other hotel rooms available in the zip code. And they had ZERO ideas, except to actually give us the last 2-room suite available. Yes. That's right. The one that literally shakes from music.

"It's ONLY on Friday and Saturday nights, but..." he promised, "it's a jazz band, and they only play to 10:30, at the most."

Yeah, right.

We tried to be good sports about it, and suck it up. But the next night (Friday), we got a wonderful surprise at about 6pm.

That first night featured a Cruise Ship band, complete with thump-thump-thumping bass until 11pm. Which, by the way, is not the same as 10:30.

The woman even did a rousing tribute to Whitney Houston, ala "I will always love youuuuuu!" Shudder.

The second night was and "open mic" night, complete with loud, drunken renditions of your favorite classic rock tunes. Which went on well past midnight.

We really suffered those first two nights. A really unhappy baby, and two under slept parents. And when we finally straggled in on Sunday afternoon we were absolutely shocked to see that a friggin DJ booth had been set up right outside our window.

And sure enough, when we stepped into our room:

So we went to see the hotel manager. And he simply shrugged his shoulders, and merely offered to "see" if he could do anything.

He did nothing. We eventually had to go and beg the Taco Shack owner to please turn down the DJ, and to his credit he did. A little bit

But this hotel is a disaster. Seriously. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Also of note:

The TV didn't work for half the time we were there (satellite troubles).

The maids didn't do anything except empty the waste bins. They didn't make beds, or provide new towles.

The only redeeming quality about this place is the free WiFi. But then you might as well stay at a starbucks.

Oh, and the sheets are all stained.

So, to sum up:

If you're someone who would perhaps like to watch a little TV, or read a book after a day on the beach, look elsewhere.

But if you're in your early 20's, and like to party on crystal meth, this is the place for you. Book early!

Had the best mini vacation with a fling here one week. Stayed in a 1 bed suite. It was clean and so cozy. Walk to the beach & boardwalk at anytime. Safe location. Get completely drunk and walk to your room. Cant beat the complimentary bikes, chairs, surf boards, etc. there's a kitchen and a washer and dryer. i loved that outside the rooms there are tables and comfy launch chairs to chill at all night. There is minimum parking but I was able to park mine & his for $10 for our whole stay. very chill getaway :)

Find great discounts online.

P.S. This is not a quiet kid friendly place.

Don't know about the rooms, but the hostel was pretty terrible.  They hand you linens at the front desk to make your own bed, like you're in jail.  The bunk beds are all loose and falling apart.  There's way too many bunk beds stuffed inside such a small area, so it's stuffy.  The hostel is co-ed, which could be unsafe for women (there's two hostels, so why not split men and women??).  The linens were stained, guess they don't use bleach.  One of the mattresses had a large bloodstain, not sure why they didn't just simply replace it.  The mattresses are so small, my feet hung off the edge.  Don't recommend the hostel at all.

I stayed here 3 nights while working near Fort Lauderdale. Due to the nature of my work I can never make reservations and thus wound up in 3 different rooms over the course of 3 days; once in a 4 bed dorm, and twice in a single.

Overall: great experience. Great value, good location, helpful staff, and surprisingly clean.

Staff: 8. Very accommodating. Worked with my needs for late check in and early check out. One of them even gave me his parking spot!

Location: 8. Nice beaches,  good food, good bars, all under a 2 minute walk. Relatively safe. Great for tourists, wanderers and a party crowd, but probably not ideal for young children.

Mattress: 5. Very average. May not do for somebody with a bad back but I slept like a baby.

Cleanliness: 8. Clean sheets, clean bathrooms and shower, fresh towels, no bugs, and no yucky smells. What more can you ask for at that price?

Amenities: 8. Fridge, microwave, satellite tv, free wifi, free bike rentals and other toys, full kitchen. Everything you need for an extended stay and some fun on the beach.

I didn't think to write a review till the end of my stay so the pics are after I made a mess of the room, but you can see how well kept they are despite my clutter.

Only negative I had was finding a parking a spot. The place was packed every night. I ended up just forking over the extra 10 bucks for a parking pass the last night.

I'll definitely stay there again if I'm in the area.

If using a debit card, put your deposit ($100) in cash or else it might take 7-14 days together it back. Free bike rental, quaint courtyards, basic but nice rooms nice staff. Parking $10 a night. Boardwalk is beautiful and right there. The only bargain place in town near the beach that isn't terrifying.

Love this place.  Great service, clean so very nice people. My one and only complaint is that the rental equipment could be tuned up. ( ex: boogie boards broken ...   Several of them ). We will be back! I believe owners can fix a 10.00 issue :)

If I could give this place no stars I would. I booked a stay for about 4 days at this "hostel/hotel" and during those 4 days I encountered a rather unlucky experience.

1. My bags and passport were stolen from my room
2. The person that stole my things was not registered as a guest staying at the hostel portion of the hotel during that time
3. The door didn't lock / shut completely TOTALLY UNSAFE

DONT STAY HERE if you have the choice.

The police were involved and asked the front desk to save the video camera evidence of the woman taking my bag, they didn't save it! And they didn't offer me a refund or any compensation for my stay after I wanted to leave because I felt completely unsafe.

We arrived at 8pm due to flight delays. Although we had made reservations months prior) she was going to put us in the H building. She said it was newly opened. When we got to our rooms we noticed one did not have a kitchenette, like described online and that we paid for. We went to the desk and asked to be placed in the room we paid for she said none were open at this time but we could wait till morning and move. We were only there for three nights and once unpacked we didn't want to move. We said we would be fine stay in that room however we asked for the non kitchen room lower rate. She she I would have to speak with the manager in the am. About a hour later, once we got settle in of room she knocked on our door and said there was a room available with a kitchen for a upgrade and we would have to pay the difference if we wanted a kitchen. We declined this offer. She then stated she would have to charge us for the mini kitchen room because she offered us an alternative.

Overall the rooms were clean however we never had towels or washclothes and had to get our own from the office everyday. The rooms were NOT ready for use. They were mis sing many accommodations like coffee cups for the coffee maker. They even came in and painted and hang decorations one day while we were out. If the rooms were not ready they should have booked customers. The location was great but that's my only real praise.

On check out I spoke with the manager and asked again if we could receive the lower rate for the room without the kitchen. She said she couldn't because they had offered us chocies. I told her we did not want to pay for an upgraded room but we only wanted the room we reserved and paid for. She said that maybe if we didn't check in so late we could have had a better room but that's all they had left. (isn't that the point of reservations?) I told her that I was going to write a review and warn others the rooms were not as described on the webpage. To this she offered to wave the $10 one day parking charge if I PROMISE not to write about it in my review. This felt very shady. I told her I still would...

We come down to hollywood every winter and this was a far disappointment compared to other local hotels. Will not be staying here next year. I would suggest you look into other hotels in the area and do not stay at this one.

This Hostel is bad. I cannot recommend it. They don't know nothing about their customers. They don't provide breakfast and the staff has no idea where to go. Futhermore, there is no area to rest or meet new people. Just a couch next to the reception, thats it. The fridge was dirty and there is no supermarket in the area to get some food.

The location of the Hostel is bad too. There is nothing around to see or to do and it get's boring fast. You're better off going to Miami Beach.

The dorm was clean though, the beds are ok (2 of 5 stars). The lockers are way to small, just my 13" notebook had space.

The main purpose of the Hostel is to make as much money out of the property as possible.

Public transportation in Hollywood works not that well. It took me 40 minutes waiting to catch a bus. Its about an hour to get to the Airport( this works well)

very close to the beach with a very inexpensive price tag. the room was quaint but very comfortable. every time i had encounter with the staff they were always pleasant.
it is not a 4 star resort, but for $55 a night right on the beach, i was very happy with my stay.  they should offer a continental breakfast

We very much enjoyed our time at the Hollywood beach hostel. The family suite felt much more like a private hotel than a hostel. The rooms were clean and spacious and the free beach gear: chairs, sand toys, towels were very helpful. One small inconvenience - one of the bathroom sinks did not turn on - but the other one did so that was ok. A few days into our stay the front desk ran out of beach towels for a couple days in a row,  but since they were free anyway it wasn't such a big deal. The communal kitchen was a nice bonus and a fun place to chat with tourists from all over the world.

This is my second review for this motel, experience so far is horrible. They put me in their "new building" which is a little town house. I paid the Same price as I use to pay for a way better and wayyyyy bigger nice room here. I feel like I'm in someone's house in a little bedroom, my bedroom is so tiny with no view, thin walls I can hear absolutely everything the neighbors next door are doing while laying in the bed. No kitchenette which the lady at front desk told me there FOR SURE is one in here ... This is so far the worst experience I ever had in a hotel. The doors are so shitty there's bright light inside my tiny little bedroom from the hallway. This is def not worth the full price I paid for the "two peas in a pod room" I'm so disappointed im contemplating just leaving now and driving home :/ two thumbs down. I was really hoping to get a nice room like I am use to booking here by the taco shack :(

Restaurant and bar was excellent as well

I wouldn't pay more than $50 a night to stay here.  That price would be fitting for this type of motel (it's not a hotel btw).  Honestly, it's kind of a dump.  It was fairly clean and smelled pleasant but if you looked closely there were a few issues.  Our ironing board and ottoman had pretty bad stains on them.  There was no way we were sitting on that ottoman with all of the white stains on top.  The bathroom had cracks and gaps in the wall.  There was an uncovered window (looking out on to the street) right by the shower, so needless to say, I took my showers very quickly.  The shower was the stupidest shower I've ever had to deal with - it went from hot to cold constantly.  There's a dispenser in the shower that has shampoo and body wash, but it's the exact same thing.   The walls are thin in your room and you'll be able to hear people next door and outside.

The woman who checked us in at the desk was not helpful or friendly at all.  She was very rude.  We didn't bother renting any of their beach equipment.  It was all old and gross + you can only rent the items for two hours.

Pros: refrigerator, microwave, fast wifi (we were close to the office), cold AC, good location.

Just finished staying four nights here including a weekend.
The location was awesome right near the beach, restaurants, bars, & shopping.
Parking was available at the hotel but an additional $10 a day was charged to my credit card.
Free bike rental was great and we used their bikes to up and down the boardwalk a few times.
They also had loaner beach chair and umbrellas too.
The room was very "beachy" with no carpet and nice cold AC.
One bummer was the bathroom was very very small.
Bed was so comfy I slept like a dream there.
The nearby Taco Shack had good food and a happy hour every night 10pm til close
With $2 margaritas & $3 draft beer plus mini tacos 3 for $3.00
Overall I would go back again.

A delightfully warm breeze wafts through my seafoam green room as I write this review... I am a block from the beach, and perhaps two blocks from the harbor opposite the ocean.

My towels are not folded in shape of animals, and mints do not await on my pillow when I return. This is a place to lay my head comfortably between Boardwalk strolls and sandy naps while waves nip and cool toes.

It is clean, with ample room, surrounded by Palm trees. If you're lucky, perhaps you'll find a sunbathing lizard. If you're smart, you'll house your clothes here while sunbathing yourself.

Halfway into my trip and what a great place. I paid $400 less for a suite here than at the next cheapest 3 star place on hotels.com . I must say this is closer to a 3.5 or 4 star quality hotel simply for the benefits.

They have complimentary coffee all day; free use of bikes, volleyball, surfboards, boogy boards, beach chairs, etc. Suites also come with microwave and mini fridge and there is a full kitchen and bbq grill in the common area.

Rooms are comfortable with recent updates and quality a.c. They floors in the room aren't flat which is slightly annoying, but seems to be intentional to how the place was built.

Seems that a diverse age group stays here, from high schoolers through senior citizens, at least in the suites.

Located just a hundred feet or so from our room is the beach which makes trips to and from the beach very quick, without long elevator rides of many hotels. About 50ft from our rooms is a reasonably priced taco stand. For those wanting groceries there is a Publix 2 miles away. Finally, for this wanting to stock their fridge with alcohol the liquor store is across the street from the rooms.
