Aloft are me new fav hotels.  Strongly suggest staying at these places.

Really nice a modern place with lots of amenities. Huge flat screen TV, free internet, exercise room, bar (a little expensive, but convenient) and a nice pool. The location is excellent. There are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop, all within walking distance.

Sadly, not what we were expecting. The hotel wants to be nice and hip, but doesn't pull it off. It's like someone wanted to look cool but cut corners, and the woes are already showing, from the leaking liquid floors in the elevators to the dents in the walls to the places where the carpet isn't sitting flat in the hallways.

The rooms are OK, but weren't great for us with a child, since there wasn't much space for a crib, and where there was a space was right where the glaring fluorescent light showed through the wannabe hip glass from the bathroom.

The efforts to be cool also meant there were some missing functionality - no rods for hand towels in the sink area, which was separate from the shower/toilet area (Unless that head high bar with the magazines was supposed to be a towel rod. No real closet space - just a curtain for hanging items - and a fridge stuck under the bathroom counter.

In all, it just felt sort of wannabe cool.

If I was traveling solo, I could overlook some of the issues, and the bed was comfortable enough, but I still wouldn't be coming back.

    The place to be.
This week I have stayed in three hotels in Jacksonville (you can find my other reviews):
The Wyndham, is a rat nest, dirty, dark, smelly, and I am not even telling you half of the DISGUSTING things that I saw, like plates supposed to be clean, but that literally hadn't even been rinsed. DON'T GO THERE.

The Omni. Good, but expensive. Not worthy for me.

I am so glad that I found this. It is brand new, and you can tell. A very relaxed atmosphere, in very clean and quiet rooms. Modern decoration, and in walking distance from a great street mall, where you can buy anything you forgot to park, presents for your children, something for the wife... and have a ton of options for dinner.

It is a no brainer. Next time I come to Jacksonville, I will come directly to this place.

The Aloft has free wifi Internet and it is really easy to get to the airport from here.

I have stayed in several aloft's around the country and I was really happy to see this one in Jacksonville arrive.  Although the location defies logic, it makes sense for
business traveler wanting to avoid traffic in the morning as JAX can be bad if you are trying to catch a flight.

The decor and aminities are great...especially for the price.  Our room was $92 a night and it has many of the same elements of the more upscale W brand.

There could have been some small things done to make things better.  For example, in the lobby there was little to no reading material available aside from USA today  and a 3 week old SI.  Our room didn't have any soap in it when we got there and there was a small bare spot in the carpet.  If the staff paid a tad more attention to detail, they would be just fine.

The staff was really friendly and eager to help us in any way.  The shuttle to the airport was also a big plus.

Looking forward to the next stay as well as the second Aloft opening in Tapestry Park next year!

What the hell I was doing in Jacksonville I can never say.  In fact there are three things I can never say.

    #1 - Where I'm going
    #2 - With whom
#3 - For how many nights
& #4 - How many Chanel products I'll put on my credit card before the trip is over

As you know, I live in a fabulous South Beach condo, and even my homeland of Dania Beach seems too far north of my comfort zone.  Meaning: anywhere in Florida that's north of Miami is usually not where I want to be.

I forget who invited me to Jacksonville.  Maybe it was Ricky Martin.  Maybe Mark Wahlberg.  Maybe the assistant to Lady Gaga's hair stylist's assistant's assistant.  Either way, he was fabulous and famous and invited me for one night.

When my man told me we'd be staying in a loft, I expected a 3,000 sq. ft. NYC-style loft, where the sun would rise up in front of windows each morning for a natural wakeup.  I did NOT expect a hotel.

hEllO, what the hell was Aloft?  Was this like the Hampton Inn of Starwood?  Would he dare?

Divas, wear your sunglasses, because Aloft is located on a grand concourse full of McDonald's and KFC's.  If I had my photo snapped next to a KFC, the press would be all over it.  Since I'm so thin, my tactic when I'm out in public is to turn sideways, so that I disappear completely.  I did this quite a bit in Jacksonville.

So the hotel.  The rooms are modern and dark and quiet--a bit small for me--but that's just because I'm a size queen.  Large comfortable beds...a desk with lots of plugs (FINALLY), I mean hEllO, doesn't everyone travel with a blowdryer, hair straightener, mini-vaccuum, and food processor?  I know I don't.  But when I do, it's nice to have a hotel room with lots of plugs.  Especially for my hair.  Do you think it looks this good from battery power?  Of cOUrsE not.  Ask Drako.

The bathroom was better than expected--nice big shower with room for two.  But shampoo dispensers?  I guess Aloft is trying to be all grEEn or something.  Next time I'm bringing my empty L'Occitane bottles and filling them up.

Other pros: the lobby has an open snack bar, with free coffee.  At least it's free when you don't look at the sign to see how much they're charging.  Some people may look, but I don't.  And anyway, I was too busy discussing my world travels with the lovely desk man, Kyle.

I'd stay at the Aloft Jacksonville again... IF I ever go back to Jacksonville.  And if I do, I may never tell...

Pros:  Great Fitness center, it actually has a bench and a good amount of dumbbells, in addition to treadmills.  Has a bar in the lobby!  Very close to the airport.  There is a great sushi place across the street.  Good price point.

Cons:  Breakfast is all a la carte and is limited to the equivalent of egg mcmufins or some prepackaged stuff.

Very hip looking, loft type hotel that's the little sibling of the much more upscale W Hotel chain.   This airport location comes complete with complimentary shuttle service.  Hotel is inexpensive, has lots of cool amenities (such as free wifi & modern plug in to TV flat screens so you can connect your computer, iPod, etc).  Modern feel, cool common areas, night club looking bar, a decent seen and be seen pool area, nice staff and a satisfactory cardio/workout room.

Drawbacks:  Carb laden a la carte breakfast.  Coffee service only provided cream and whole milk (which is the only way to obtain milk for prepackaged cereal).  I mean who only serves whole milk anymore?  Location is über-suburbia and distant from many places of interest.

Overall a nice place if you're a hipster, want to be convenient to the airport and experience a loft vibe before your trip.  Price is good, but as for using it in my business travels, I don't think so...

Overall this is a great hotel but the AC unit in the rooms make it unbearable! They use the same units as Motel 6 and they are loud. Over 70db (yes I used an app to measure). Because it is summer, even at night the unit runs 80%. 2 times in this hotel and neither were enjoyable. I am picking not coming back to this location.

Chose to stay here because of its proximity to the airport and reviews online.  Hotel was cool vibe and good size and location for business traveling folks.

Staff at night was not very welcoming.  Seemed interested in the game going on across the room in the bar area.  Had to ask where I park an how to get to my room.

My only real complaint is that I prepaid for a King size bed and when I checked in they stuck me in a room with 2 queens.  It was 1130pm and I was too tired to go down and complain so I just dealt with it.

As the Yelp "rating equivocater" says:  "Meh, I've experienced better".   And I have.  As a Starwood Platinum junkie -- this was my first ever Aloft stay.  Normally I stay at the Sheraton across the street when I'm in Jax....and to that Sheraton I shall return each time I'm in Jax in the future.  My stay left much to be desired and I don't think I'll be spending money with the Aloft brand anytime soon.

    Some PROs:
    - Nice, comfy beds with good linens, fitted sheets (none of that using flat sheets on the bottom crap), and a nice, clean simple down comforter
    - Great walk in showers -- shower head itself could be better, though
    - Bliss toiletries -- EXCELLENT TOUCH
    - Mini fridge
    - Decent-ish rate
    - Decent enough outdoor pool - nice lounge chairs, but pool is small

CONs..and there are quite a few:
    - AC in the room never cooled the place down...and the way the unit is positioned under a table it diverted the air toward the bathroom -- TERRIBLE design
    - Fairly inept service--- I understand it's a new property, but each time you asked a question it seemed that no one knew what was going on
    - Rarely was there anyone at the front desk when I needed something
    - FIxtures in the room (toilet paper holder, towel rack) feel off the wall when I was there -- indicated really poor quality construction
    - The bar seemed to close early EVERY NIGHT
    - For you platinum folks reading this -- this property def doesn't cater to the frequent traveler with those perks we've come to love and expect.
    - WiFi free but messed up - had to call tech line twice.

OH YEAH -- and fire alarm went off at 4am -- stayed on for 30 minutes - no explanation or apology from hotel.

Starwood, I'm pretty disappointed in you.

Modern decor. Bliss bath products. Rooms are small. They also have a small fridge but the only microwave is downstairs in lobby. Beds and pillows fairly comfortable. AC units in rooms are really loud, but according to front desk they are scheduled for an upgrade to quieter AC units soon. Speaking of front desk staff, I found them very helpful and friendly. I opted out of housekeeping so that I could take advantage of the credit toward bar or rewards points and housekeeping didn't give any indication that I had done so, but front desk ensured I got the reward points added when brought to their attention. Bar staff was nice. Gym is small, but decent and was never crowded. Walking distance to food. If you prefer a quieter stay (other than white noise of the current AC units) I suggest requesting a room that doesn't face the restaurant parking lots.

Disappointing.  I had high hopes for this hotel. This was my first experience at an Aloft property and I was rally looking forward to the experience.

The low star rating was because of two items that really  put a damper on the experience.  First, let me say this is a nice facility and the rooms are comfortable and well decorated. The place has a great contemporary vide, very relaxing atmosphere.

Unfortunately, our room was not stocked with any hand towels, but only 2 bath towels.  This became and issue right away and the next morning.  I called down and they said there should be towels but none were delivered to the room (it was late).  The second issue was the coffee.  We had an early fight and the coffee in the lobby (only caffeinated, not decaf) was so stale I had to through it away.

These are basic things and it was a real disappointment and put me off to the entire experience.    I would think twice or three times before visiting another Aloft property.

If you want an affordable, modern hotel that wont break the bank then ALOFT is it. This hotel is easy to get to, and there are a ton of restaurants around the location.

The rooms are cool and pretty clean, beds are very comfy. Bathrooms are very open and clean as well. The hotel has a cool little bar downstairs, along with a self serve kitchen deal. Has a pool and gym, everything you need and the price is right.

The concierge and staff didnt seem to care much about anything and I felt like I needed to slap someone an give them a redbull but hey this isnt the Ritz.

The most nastiest and worse hotel ever. My bed sheets had gum on them, bathroom had soap scrum on the door and walls, the tile floors was extremely dirty and sticky and costumer service sucked!

I have am a huge fan of Starwood properties and usually Alofts. This one is very convenient to shopping and the airport, but the rooms are "tired". Since on business travel and open to other parts of the city, will try a different hotel next stop in JAX.

If only the location of this hotel was elsewhere. This was the best hotel we stayed at in Florida...unfortunately it was in the hick town of Jacksonville, where nothing special was in existence surrounding it.

I will forever love Aloft hotels! Especially because it is part of W hotels! It literally looks like W hotels, if you have ever stayed in one. Modern, chic, pretty! They use Bliss products too! The best part about this new branch of W hotels, is that Aloft is MUCH MUCH cheaper. Aloft is like the Four Points by Sheraton or Marriot Courtyard, but much much better!

The price a night here was SUPER cheap too!

They NEED to open this branch in Miami/Orlando. I would definitely stay there. Just the whole look they are going for with their hotels already gets me.

Okay so I stayed at Aloft during a business trip and it was literally 2 minutes from where i had to be for work so i picked it mostly out of convenience.  The staff were all pleasant so no complaints there really but my overall 2 rating was due to room quality.  There were many many questionable cleanliness issues...as in VERY questionable stains in many places...yuck.  I don't think the cleanliness was a reflection of the housekeepers but maybe more of a lack of attention to making sure the rooms are up to par from management/corporate standards.  If a piece of furniture has been ruined by some guests then just replace it, don't accept the fact it is stained and will forever be stained.  The tile floors and pretty much all of the grouting in the bathroom were just unacceptable.  They may have been "clean" but they looked awful so maybe its time to invest in some major rehab jobs.

I can't say this was the WORST hotel stay i've ever had and because of the quality of service from the staff was really very good I was a little bummed to have to give it a 2 star but hopefully Aloft corporate can catch on to helping this place out in improving the room quality.

**FYI, the bartender was especially awesome.  I was at the hotel from a Tues-Fri and only saw her once a night in passing to grab a drink and go to my room but she actually remembered the drink i wanted.  I know a gin and tonic isnt complicated but kudos to her for recognizing what I ordered.

I'm not sure about this hotel. I stayed here for the first time in August of 12' due to them being pet friendly and central to all of my family. I was pleased with my stay back then. Fast forward to December 13' I stayed here while visiting family for Christmas and sucks I can't say the same about my stay! The room that I was put in was run down, there was soap scum inside the shower and greasy finger prints on the glass shower door (unsanitary) the walls were all scratched up, the wallpaper was pulling up and the cords behind the TV were exposed.... And no one could do anything about it..... Unacceptable!!! I'm not sure if all of the rooms are now run down but that was such a disappointment because the lobby is so pretty. Not to mention both stays I was assured they would have water bowls for my pooch and both times there were none. My next visit to Jacksonville, Aloft will no longer be my first consideration!

I stayed here for a business trip in September 2014. I stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience. It is conveniently located only a few miles from the airport. The shuttle was either waiting for me or took only moments to arrive whenever I needed it. The pool was nice. The workout room was small but had everything it needed. The pantry was stocked and had pretty much anything one would need. The room came equipped with a refrigerator and coffee maker. Wifi was free. My shower came equipped with shampoo and body wash dispensers. My room was clean and modern. Maid service both days was great. The staff was ready, willing and able to help with anything I needed - including during the conference when we needed copies or other things on the fly. Price was great too and the Carabba's up the street delivered! If I ever have to venture back to Jax, I'll be sure to stay again.

Great A loft convienent to Jacksonville Airport with amazing staff.  Relaxing lounge area, free parking, and free shuttle to/from airport.  We stayed here for only 2,000 Starwood points!  Hotel surrounded by plenty of food and shopping options that are easily assessable by walking.  Would highly recommend for your next trip in and out of Jacksonville!

Don't EVER stay here. My colleague and I were in separate rooms and we both had disgusting experiences. The towels were filthy and I don't even want to describe the stuff that I found on the 'white' bedspread. Let me say though that the filthy part of the bedspread had 'conveniently' been flipped so the filthy side was faced down. I would have missed it if I hadn't separated the bedspread from the top sheet. After reporting it I was out of the room for 9 hours yet nothing was changed. Had to wait another hour after returning to the room. Unacceptable.

The room is also extremely tiny. The best thing about this place is location. That's it. But there are MUCH better hotels nearby.

Good vibe, nice rooms. Modern and comfortable. Shopping is in walking distance and not far from the Zoo which you can catch a shuttle to. The bar makes good drinks and plenty of seating and air conditioned at a comfy temperature. Everything I needed and people were polite and helpful.
Okay now that I'm laying down ready to sleep, here's something that drove me crazy. The bedside clock ticks. Geez I hate that sound, the air condition was loud so I turned it off now I have to hear the clock. I could unplug it I guess but then tomorrow I should set the time right and I'm just too lazy for that. How bout digital clocks lol??

Aloft is one of my favorite chain hotels and the one near Jax airport didn't disappoint. The decor is whimsical, the common areas are inviting, and for a quick business trip you can't beat the price or location. Would be nice if the bar had some more food options but there are a ton of restaurants in the area within walking distance or use the complimentary shuttle.

Nice clean hotel. Rooms are a little small but clean. The bed sleeps comfortably and cozy. If you're a spg rewards member you can get an extra 250 points for every day you refuse housekeeping.  Or you can get $5 off at the bar. They have an exercise room on site that's pretty good, better than most hotel gyms, cables,  free weights, 2 bikes,2 elliptical,  2 treadmills.
They also have a small pool that even has a handicapped chair to lower you into the water if you need it. Never seen this at a hotel pool before!

This wasn't my first time staying at Aloft but it's certainly my last. The decor of this place is fantastic but that's the only good I can say.
The room was a bit dirty, dead bugs here and there all over the room. Hair that wasn't mine in the shower. Ugh.
When I booked this room I paid for a package that included breakfast or so I thought. I came down for something to eat and was told that it was not included because they don't include breakfast with the military rate. I tried to explain that when I spoke to a rep he did tell me it was. She just dismissed me and walked away. What good is a beautiful hotel if the staff suck?

Skip this hotel. I typically stay at Starwood properties and usually like Aloft hotels... But this one is below expectations. 1) The rooms are dirty someone seriously needs to deep clean the tile and carpets. 2) The WiFi is terribly slow, like can't work slow.

Our stay did not start off great, I must say. We arrived on 8/3 around 1AM and once we walked in the door with our luggage in tow, the receptionist immediately stated that she had no rooms. I was livid to say the least. Apparently, there was some "maintenance issue" and there were no available rooms left. She tells another staff member to go upstairs and check on a room, but before even getting word back from him, she gets on the phone and starts making a reservation for us to stay at the Hyatt.

We went to the Hyatt that night which was comped by Aloft. The Hyatt is a nice hotel, but did not have the same trendy feel as the Aloft which is why we had chosen it in the first place. I remained upset until the morning and then we returned to the Aloft and requested to speak with the GM, Ron. Thank GOD for Ron!! He had a room waiting for us, comped our second night, and even gave us a free bottle of wine. He knew the definition of customer service and was very apologetic for the inconvenience that we had endured. Unfortunately, I really could not say the same for the receptionist the prior evening, but I guess Ron will work on that with her.

In any event, we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are somewhat small, but comfy. Most of the other people staying there were friendly and we would definitely stay here again the next time we are in town.
