The hotel itself is relatively new / rooms are big and clean.  Few issues though:
    1) The beds are horrible.  It has been a long time since I've had a bad hotel bed, but this one is rock hard (even with the adjustment set to softest setting possible).
    2) Train tracks nearby / quite noisy.
    3) Not the safest area, especially after dark.

Booked a girls weekend here & had a blast! We stayed in a suite with two queen beds & a pull out couch. The room was comfortable & spacious. The staff was very friendly, and did not mind bringing us extra towels, tp, etc. They even assisted us in calling cabs to go out at night. The hotel is in a somewhat strange part of town. The walkability isn't great but it is a short ($10) cab ride to Riverside/downtown & even less to San Marco attractions. I was surprised to find out that they dont offer continental breakfast, and that is one down fall of this place. Also, the pool was beautiful but shady later than 3:00 p.m. Tip: Dont pay for parking. No one knows if you park in the garage for free!!

Find another place to stay if you can, don't be persuaded by the "downtown name".  This place is in a weird area on the edge of town with nothing around except street walkers and homeless.  Arrival was smooth and it's a nice place, looks new.  I am a diamond member that travels every week so I have kind of high standards but this place came across as just "ok".  I did get upgraded to a big room due to my status but only after I asked and the guy acted like it was a favor.

Room was nice, bathroom had dirty Kleenex in the trash and hair on the toilet. Beds are terrible, absolutely terrible!  Pillows are to airy and falls flat immediately.  Ordered room service, took almost 2 hours after placing an order over voicemail because they were to busy to answer the phone, can't imagine why, to get my food.  Steak was swimming in water along with the cold Mac and cheese,  was very well done instead of medium well as requested and was mostly comprised of grissle....all in all this hotel was nothing special at all, I am here as a single guy but I can't imagine bringing a family here especially due to the area it's in.  It is a nice place for sure but terrible service

All good things.  I'd give it five stars but no free weights in the fitness room.  Close enough to walk to a couple great restaurants, and within a mile of a killer running path that goes up and over a bridge.  Friendly folks.

Nice hotel. Nice location. Nice cleaning crew. Nice waitstaff at the bar/restaurant. Mostly nice crew at the desk. Some good beers and good food at the restaurant and many more choices for good beer and food within walking distance. Little concerned that my bill "should" have been under my door on the last morning but was not and all I got out of the desk clerk was that she "just came on." Hello?! Identity theft!

This hotel's in the middle of nowhere, really, even though it says downtown. There is nothing walkable within the hotel's distance; at least, I wouldn't be caught walking in this deserted area at night alone.

There is a Homewood Suites RIGHT next door to this hotel, which I find interesting. You have to pay for parking, and hotel guests are only supposed to park on the first floor. The first time I stayed at the Homewood Suites next door, I didn't know that (ramp wasn't sectioned off), but this time I noticed the ramp was closed to hotel guests.

There's nothing that special about this hotel other than it's close to where I have to be for work. The total for one night was $185.84 including taxes, surcharges, and parking. It's your typical hotel, although they did let me have free breakfast and still earn points, which is always nice!

I always stay at Hilton Garden Inn Downtown when I'm in Jacksonville for business.  While it's nothing fancy, I keep returning because it's always clean.  Further, the Hilton staff are friendly and always accommodate my needs.

We decided to stay at this hotel for a recent girls weekend that we were having in the Jacksonville area.  Wanting a place that was close to the San Marco and Riverside areas, Hilton Garden Inn was an obvious choice.  I was a bit nervous after reading some of the Yelp reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised!

All employees from the moment we checked in until we went home were extremely nice and accommodating.  I have to give a special shout out to Rose and William at the front desk who both went above and beyond for us the entire two days we were there.  Our room was also very large and clean.  We spent some time at the pool and hot tub and much enjoyed both.  I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay near the San Marco and Riverside area.

The location is not bad. It's in San Marco just across the bridge from downtown/Jacksonville Landing.

The bar closes really early (at 10:00p sharp). Most hotel bars are open until after midnight, but at least there's one directly across the street called Local's Bar that's open until 2:00a seven days a week.

Here's another hint about the bar service at the Hilton Garden Inn - It's in the same building as the Homewood Suites and both are owned & operated by the same people. The Homewood has free happy hour 5:30 - 7:30 Monday thru Thursday. Hilton guests are welcome to partake in free drinks if they walk over to the Homewood bar. The only beer available is Bud Heavy and Mich Ultra, but it's free and it's all you can drink for two hours each weekday.

The rooms are nice. They are typical for Hilton Garden Inns. I like the chairs and the beds are comfy. The wireless Internet is of decent speed. Everything is very clean and it still has the feel of a new hotel.

The exercise room is shared between the two hotels and is very nice. I love the PreCor equipment. It can get crowded, so go early (or really late).

The pool is also shared and is small and usually in the shade, due to being in a corner between two buildings and the front breezeway.

Parking is $10/day. It's an open lot with no gate, so you make the call on whether to tell them you have a car or not.

There are a few places in walking distance. Of course Local's Bar is right across the street. It's a smokey dive bar, but prices are dirt cheap and it's very convenient. There are two nice restaurants about four blocks to the right (North). One is BB's, which is in the top 10 best lists on anything you look at for Jacksonville restaurants (Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc.). They have excellent food and wine. The sushi place across the street from BB's is even better in my opinion. It's called Basil Thai & Sushi. The staff there is awesome. The food is even better.

As far as Jacksonville hotels go, this one is pretty good. I stay here or at the Homewood whenever I have to travel to Jacksonville. It's much nicer and better located than the rundown Embassy Suites in Baymeadows.

Comfortable hotel rooms but the air conditioning units are noisy. Cookies and infused water make it pleasant to arrive at the lobby.

    Pros:  Clean hotel, good breakfast.

-HORRIBLE service at the restaurant in the evening. Worst I've ever seen.

-Expensive pantry. It's Jacksonville not Manhattan.

I stayed here recently while I was on a business trip and was satisfied with my experience. The location was convenient to downtown and a few other areas with restaurants as well as the museums.

Pros: standard rooms, Keurig coffee machines, coin laundry, well stocked breakfast and large breakfast area

Cons: $10 parking in a secured garage where your key working was spotty at best, uneven service from the front desk

Pro tip: as noted in other reviews, this HGI is on the same property as a Homewood Suites and you can totally crash their evening happy hour.

The location is perfectly fine. I had never been to Jacksonville, but found the area nice and easy to walk to a good selection of restaurants and shops. This was the only high point of my experience.

I was given complimentary internet, which is always a treat, but this was a let down. Even though it was free, the internet was terribly. Terribly internet is way more hassle than no internet. So at no cost to me, I got a lot of hassle and frustration added to my trip.

The mattresses were awful. I have not in recent memory slept on a mattress of poorer quality. The temperature controls did not appear to do anything.

The food was decidedly sub par, the cost made it a joke. The service was not very good at all. At breakfast, there were maybe 5 tables seated, with only two people at each one. There were two servers. I am not sure what they were doing, but it took forever to get their attention or get any sort of service.

The rooms are fine, but basically identical to a much cheaper hotel. They have Keurigs in the room, but free coffee downstairs anyway. This was like a crappy motel in the middle of nowhere with different branding and worse mattresses.

Quite frankly, I am shocked that the Hilton brand would associate with such a poor quality hotel. I'm certain that you can do better in Jacksonville.

So we are staying here as a stop over to an early morning California flight. They offer regular rooms & suites. I used my military I.D. to get a reasonable rate on a two-queen bed room. The room has a fridge, microwave & keurig. There is free wifi using your room # and last name. They have pricey breakfast & dinner. We ate dinner there, burgers are $10 each. The waitress has to deliver to the restaurant patrons AND room service! She was overwhelmed at times. Poor thing! Think the cook was having a hard time which was pushing more pressure on her. Food was decent. Had daily soup & mac/cheese. It was a bit greasy but ok. The sweet ice tea was delish! Great cookies in the lobby. The front desk staff were delightful & helpful. I would stay here again. Restaurant prices are steep but room price decent. Its a 4* hotel.
