Dirty, unsanitary, they don't listen, they don't care...
My room has not been vacuumed so I complained.  They didn't clean my bathroom counter and tub and had hair on them for two days.  They barely make the bed and leave the dirty fork, used napkin, trash on the floor...again I complained.  I came home to a bed that oviously its sheets hasn't been changed (I've been here 5 days now) and now that I examined it, it had hair and dried blood spot.  I surely hope this is my blood and hair...
When I spoke to the manager, he just looked at me like I'm crazy for cmplaining...apologyzed half heartedly and obviously he doesn't care...nothing has changed.  I wish I was staying somewhere else...
Breakfast buffet:  Bread inside the bread keeper had a dead ant on it AND some fruit flies flying inside.
The maid took time to play with my glasses and moved it from the desk to the bed where she made an "origami" animal with towels and put my glasses on it.
    DON'T EVER STAY HERE.

Very mediocre. Lobby is nice, usually offers free water and cookies. Room was fine, nice LG tv's. Bathroom was not nice, very outdated and tiny sink area. Biggest complaint of room was bathroom. Great location, near massive shopping area (St. Johns Town Center) filled with restaurants, shops, bars, movie theater, etc. Walking distance to movie theater, few restaurants, and Starbucks.

i dont know what people expect.  i thought it was perfectly suitable, clean, hospitable people, very comfy bed.
my baggage was not sent with me on my flight, United then held it hostage in chicago b/c they thought it was a good idea at the time (I was not departing from chicago either, stupid united.)
the staff at the HGI was friendly, hospitable, etc. etc. thanks a bunch!

get bravo and lose HBO family, and why the heck did my tv volume not go below 11?!

Just remodeled, adjustable beds, fair prices, visibly great service, tons of shops/restaurants in the area, free WiFi. Who could ask for more?

Old furniture, stiff beds, and boring decor.  Good location but there are several other hotels in the immediate vicinity which are better.

The rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained. My wife is very particular about this and had no complaints. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We spent a quiet very comfortable night. It is a very convenient location. We had dinner at the Three Forks restaurant just 2 and 1/2/blocks away. The Seven Bridges Restaurant and Brewery is right next door. Hilton Honors members enjoy free WiFi. The buffet breakfast is good but costs $12.75, free to Gold Honors members. We would definitely stay here again.

Hilton Garden Inn is the new Holiday Inn.
Hotel room is average.    Bathroom outdated.
I wanted to try HGI for the Hilton brand, expecting more.
It's fine as a business traveler choice.   Just manage your expectations.

At check in... The attendant offered folks as they checked in if they wanted to arrange the wake up call for the next day.   Everyone including myself took the offer for the morning wake up call.   I'm not usually a good sleeper while away from home and anxious for my early day at the office.... So I slept on and off.   I stared at the clock as the time past for my wake up call.    5 mins later still no call... I dialed the front desk letting them know of the Missed Wake Up Call....not cool!

Also, I need to add to my Hilton profile not to give me an adjoining room.  I'm just not comfortable having that door there when traveling alone.

Morning breakfast is busy with businesss travelers.  Most tables are taken at 7:30.  I can see how it may be difficult to find seat at times.
Made to order egg items are available, if you can to flag the server to place your order.   If you don't have time, which most of us business travelers don't, there's a buffet ready with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy... etc.

All in all.... HGI was an ok place to stay.  There are nearby restaurants and  business offices nearby.

Pretty standard issue for this low cost hotel chain. Rooms are simple but well presented. Has all the basics a business person needs: wifi, quiet room, tv, etc. I don't recall that the TV was flat screen. I think the only thing that was missing was a full length mirror, but I find that's usually a coin toss in hotel rooms.

There is an outdoor pool, a well stocked front desk pantry with snacks, and plenty of parking. The fitness center was stuffy, a little too warm for my usual morning jog. It is conveniently located by a mall and many of Jacksonville's business campuses.

Front desk and housekeeping staff were spot on during my stay, always greeting me with a smile.

I expect a consistent level of experience with HGI, it is well known as a top tier business traveler's hotel.  This hotel did not measure up.

While attempting to book my reservation, the Hilton website popped up a special offer for a "Presidential Suite" for a very reasonable price (yelp guidelines I think say no numbers here) so I said "sounds OK" and booked it.  Three days before my stay, the hotel sends me an email saying that the reservation is marked as a smoking room and that they don't have any smoking "Presidential Suites" left (who allows smoking in a hotel anyway - isn't that how fires start?)  I don't see the email until the next morning (why they couldn't have called me - I don't know) and respond, but by then, THEY HAD CHANGED MY RESERVATION WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION and put me into a "deluxe" room (read that - all other rooms are "deluxe").

When I got to the hotel, the checkin and checkout experience was fine, but the room was not what I booked, there was NO HOT WATER either day.  The front desk said they had it checked out and the system was fine, and maybe too many people were showering that morning.  Hey remind me to sign up for my time slot next time.  The showerhead in my shower pointed to the floor and would not stay in place, the thermostat said 76 degrees but it was more like 65, and the common hallway carpets were dirty and needed to be stretched so they were not a trip hazard.

Absolutely not what I have experienced at other HGI properties.

On the bright side, the breakfast is somewhat adequate, as long as you don't have to pay for it, and the breakfast area waiter will lift your spirits with his enthusiasm and attitude.

They like to make the lobby look great but that's about all that looks good here. For what they charge here you should get a nice room with a comfortable bed...  NOT!! Room was mediocre at best. The bed was like sleeping on a concrete slab. Bathroom water pressure was almost non existent.  The shower head had so much calcium on it you couldn't have moved it with a crowbar. I found dirty napkins in the nightstand drawer and trash under the edge of the bed.  The outside of the place is in disrepair and the Maintenance Supervisor should be fired for letting his place looks like this. Overall this place sucked. It's too bad because my wife and I stay in this area monthly for work. Guess we will have to move on to another hotel for next month!

The lady at the check-in was friendly and our room was okay.  Everything was clean, they had a Keurig coffee maker in the room with good coffee...but no non-dairy creamer and only 2 half and half cups.  They need more for two people.  The bed was too firm for my taste but that's just me.  They did have a large flat screen tv and complimentary wifi.  The bathroom was pretty basic and they had Neutrogena toiletries in there that were available for use.
The breakfast the next morning was okay, your typical hotel breakfast.  We would stay here again if the cost was less than 100 bucks per night.

Ok, so Tuesday the shower head sprung a leak that shoots across the bathroom and the handle on the toaster came off in my hand. Was going to mention at check out.

Then tonight the handle to the hot water in the sink came off and I can't turn it off. The desk said no maintenance on duty so keep the door shut overnight.

    Ugh!

I had a great experience. I travel weekly and I'm an honors member. I had a problem with my toilet running I called down and in 5 minutes someone fixed my toilet. Then right after the maintenance man left I had a phone call to my room checking that it was fixed and then someone showed up to my room with a goody bag thanking me for my patience, for reporting the problem and apologized for my inconvenience.  It was clean and staff was friendly! They had a manager from Indiana there retraining so if you had a bad experience before give them another try!

This conveniently located hotel is extremely well run. Staff and manager are friendly and attentive like none I've seen in a while. The breakfast includes lots of fresh high quality fruit, sometimes whole grain bakery fresh breads. The hot food options are great and they offer to make fresh omelets to your specifications.

We needed our room moved because it was next to the elevator shaft and the staff couldn't have been more supportive.

The hotel is located near lots of shopping. & restaurants.  The St Johns Center shopping area is just 2 blocks away along Gate Pkwy.

I used to try to stay closer to the beaches but I've never had a great experience. I will stay here anytime I'm in Jacksonville. It's now my hotel of choice.
