I've used other Microtels across the USA, and I'll just say this particular one blows!

The staff is top notch and the micro fridges in all the rooms are a-ok, but whoever had the ideal of placing a hotel in the middle of a swamp is beyond me!

The nearest restaurant is easily about 2 miles away. And if you plan to be brave to take a walk, be sure to take a ton of bug repellent because you will be the prime time dinner for the infamous Florida mosquito's... yikes. As a matter of fact, this location isn't even near public transportation. So you better make sure you have the number to the local cab company. A cab ride to downtown Jacksonville will cost you about $35 one-way.

The world famous Microtel Free continental breakfast falls way short at this location. Whereas at a typical Microtel you will find fresh pastries, homemade waffles, etc... In Jacksonville you get prepackaged muffins. Prepackaged bagels. Watered down OJ. Rancid milk. And not a single piece of fresh fruit within 5 miles of the joynt!

So, if you're just looking for a bed to lay your head, then this place maaaaaay be up your alley. Just make sure you bring a bunch of food and some bug spray.

Wow. What a bargain. This place looks brand new with excellent decor in cozy, rooms with window nooks. I wish my own home were decorated as nice as this place.

As of tonight, I been in hotels for 8 weeks straight. This and a place in Boerne, Texas are tied for the best places. The only downside is it seems the walls are a bit thin. When I sat at the desk, I could hear the TV from next door (I assume they had it cranked up loud).

I almost don't want to review this place because now all of you will find this "secret" and the demand will go up and then so will the prices. Ah well, I guess that is risk I take with using Yelp.

There was another review from 3 yrs. ago. That user gave this place 2 stars, but most of his review was griping about Florida mosquitos and the kind of food at nearby restaurants. I would rather review the hotel for what is inside, not what is outside and down the street. Come on.

Great place to stay close to airport and Auto Auctions. Staff was very friendly and the rooms were extremely clean. Everything is brand new and the price was  great. This is where I will stay every time I come to Jacksonville.

I have no idea why the other reviewer had such a bad time here. I traveled to Jacksonville on New Years Eve and found this hotel for a great price. Check in took a while partly because I came early and also there was a GA Bulldog game that was in town the day before. But once I entered my room I was very happy. The hotel was booked to capacity so I had a double. Which was just fine with me. Great size room and I loved the bathroom. Over the beds was a high mirror that covered the whole wall. Different - but good. Nice flat screen tv and curtains that blacked out the world. I never thought about checking breakfast.

But I found the location great. In one direction is the airport. And right up the street was River City MarketPlace. There is everything (Walmart, Old Navy, Best Buy, Japanese Steak House, Panera Bread, nail shop etc) in that plaza and restaurants along the way.

This hotel has some of the best service Ive ever gotten at a hotel. The front desk ran out of change for the vending machine but he went out of his way to get me a snack! They also offer a shuttle right to the airport! The rooms are also very spacious, lacking a fridge but all and all a great guest experience!

My sister booked this at hotels.com and I think she got a great deal but I'm not sure on price. This is a very safe feeling hotel as it is on airport property and therefore policed by the TSA. There are a couple of vending machines but no bar, although there apparently is one only a couple of blocks away. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The room was small but very clean. Not much in the way of amenities. Breakfast was slightly better than the usual continental breakfast but ended at 9:30 and they weren't playing around, things got packed up starting at 9:28 and then they were gone! There was fruit and yogurt and the usual plastic wrapped pastry and pancake and egg monstrosities, some cereal, juice and coffee. Free wifi (slow). No charge to park but you do need a pass (TSA!). Very convenient with only a 5 minute drive to airport.

WOW!  I'm impressed. This hotel has great rates, it's clean, great rooms, the staff is extremely friendly, has an airport shuttle and is close to the airport.  Can't get much better than that.
