I had many stays here back when I lived in Florida, at least once per month, as the work facility I was involved with at the time was right down Dunn Avenue. Had all those stays not been prepaid on the company card, I surely would've ventured elsewhere. As this location is one of the top 3 worst Motel 6s I've ever stayed in to date, I'm hoping to God they at least have done a little bit of remodeling in recent times.
I experienced everything from doors that simply had no locks or chains (yup, that's right!) to almost inch-wide gaps in the doors on all four sides, to rooms that reeked heavily of pet urine. I think the best one in the bunch actually had air conditioning that worked, and sported a gorgeous view of the America's Best Value Inn directly behind it, and, as always, a few unsavories wandering about. I often wondered why the majority of the buildings and businesses on the street were always either closed down or abandoned, in addition to why they always kept one of the side parking lot entrances permanently gated. Looks like one of the rooms was a confirmed meth lab back in 2012, based on the Jacksonville newspaper's website article and photo.
Skip it - I'd say pay just a few more bucks and go to the La Quinta directly across the road on Dunn, which was 100% better, but Yelp is saying that it closed recently and appears to be rebranded as another Motel 6 location. You might at least get some LaQuinta remnants, and it might be a bit nicer than this place. Best bet would be to venture down the interstate a bit, as it might be a little bit of a safer area.
