My wife and I have stayed at most of the downtown Jacksonville hotels and this was definitely the worst. The hotel's lobby is the high point. It looks great. But that's where the good time end.

We had to change our room because of rat/mice  droppings in the room air conditioner. I was told that this was because the unit was just put in the room and had been in storage! It was so late at night and other rooms were not available at other hotels so wee stayed at the hotel's new room. However, management never contacted us or apologized. Do yourself a favor - don't stay at this hotel. The place needs to be updated and it is simply not a three or even a two star hotel... yah the beds are nice but that's not enough!

Fine by me. I got a king-size bed in a spacious room with everything you'd expect in a hotel.
My view was AWFUL -- despite being very close to the water, I saw nothing but the ROOF, including the dirty puddles, the air conditioning units and random debris.
There was a big, splattered white stain in the hall right outside my room, my toilet seat was gross, and the elevators were slower than molasses (and some ghost kept pressing all the buttons just before I'd get in the elevator -- I only needed the second and first floors, but I "got to" see all of them!), but the desk was friendly about check-in and getting me a cab, which I didn't end up using -- I took a shuttle with a bunch of pilots at 4-freaking-30 in the morning.
The lobby has the signature Jacksonville crap music, though it went with a watered down burnt orange, wrought iron, cream, rust and mustard mod look instead of the pastel I came to expect everywhere else in the city. The upper floors reassured me that indeed there is PASTEL EVERYWHERE IN THIS TOWN, though.

I travel all the time for work and this hotel is dirty and run down. I am very open minded but first impressions are everything and after you walk down then hallways, the first impression is unimpressive.
The entry way and rooms are okay, but the hallways and bar area are less then that. The bar looks nice, but I, being in the wine business asked for a Wine list and was told they didn't have one because they were changing it. Then, I asked for a glass of wine to bring to my room, because the bartender was a jerk and I didn't want to hang out near him,     gave me a plastic cup of wine, and not only did he pour it in a plastic
cup, but he mixed 2 different wines, but claimed they were the same with different labels.
    Very disappointing.
Also, wifi does not work, however the front desk person assured me that they had a full hotel and everyone else has working Internet? Interesting, I am here for 3 nights and night 1 is less then impressive!

Okay so the Radisson has become a Wyndham, and when you hear the Wyndham name you expect a very nice luxury hotel.  Well if that is what you are expecting, DON'T STAY HERE!!  When you approach the property, you do a litle double take, the parking lot is underneath a bridge and not well lit (which makes you wonder if your car is still going to be there tommorow).  The lobby of the hotel is okay, but when you get to your room, you will not be pleasantly surprised.  My door does not actually close behind me, the safety latch is loose, and could come off if anyone tried to open the door.  The room has a faint odor or mildew.  And the bathroom is TINY.  The only thing I have positive to say is that the linens are decent and the pillows are fluffy.  They do have free wireless internet.

The conference rooms are not much better (had a roof leak while we were in session).

Outdated, and definetly needs to be spruced up--altho the lobby area had some redeeming qualities. The bed was comfortable. The room smelled weird/musty when we first walked into it but it disappated in time. (not enough for us to go thru the hassle of changing rooms basically) Bathroom (toilet/bath area) was really tight, and when having that particular bathroom door open made it hard to walk in there to start a shower or bath. As another reviewer stated, the closet doors did not have a bottom runner and at times I thought the doors were going to fall off the top track. These are small things that people notice and can be fixed. We also got a room without a flat screen TV. (unheard of, even in small hotel chains nowadays) I have to say the best thing about this hotel is their customer service. Very pleasant, all the time. And the location is really nice and right on the riverfront. But you are in an industrial park-like setting and with no gift/sundrie shop in a hotel of this size???? That is crazy. Which means you have to get in your car for ANY incidentals. The closest place I found within a couple of blocks to get some snacks (without using their vending machines) was a BP Gas Station. This could be a stellar property if some $$$ was put into it.

This is a review for the conference center. Like Rhea (previous reviewer) I used this for our company event. The parking situation does suck- it is usually paid parking but my company arranged for everyone attending the event to park for free, but they still have to wait in line and tell the gate attendant what event they are attending. When there are other events going on, parking is a major inconvience. The conference facility is HUGE. Many halls and many rooms and its impossible to know where to park in relation to where your room will be. The facility is nice though but I have to put up arrows for people to find my room. The hospitality is WONDERFUL though. They provide starbucks coffee, Liptona nd Tao teas and mini honey jars. The set up is very well presented and the staff always have the room ready before I arrive and check on me before I begin.

Eh. The salad bar was nothing to write home about.  The crab stuffed shrimp with a saffron risotto was just ok.  The chocolate molten cake was not worth the calories; the one at Chili's is way better.  2 star quality is not worth 3 dollar signs. On a positive note, we had a nice view.

love the location. close to 95 so you can access all the highways and its right near the park on the water. i got to see the dolphins come in and play. and the ferry is right there if you want to go to the Landing. however, i booked a river view room, which when i checked in they were conveniently out of them. and they didnt seem to care. also their breakfast is the same EVERYDAY. so while it was nice to have that included, I got bored of it after 2 days. their room service brought me the wrong sandwich one night. and i told them to let them know and they said that room service personnel would contact me. which they didnt. and the front desk/housekeeping would not bring me the toothbrush i requested about 5 times. i had to go down to get it. not sure what that was about. so the actual hotel service SUCKS. but the location is great and right on the water. oh and self parking costs $10 and valet costs $12, a day. just so you are warned. would i stay here again... yes - only because its close to the water and the beds were comfortable.

Check-in was fine.  The way the lobby looked didn't prepare us for the rest.  Our room had an EXTREME mildew smell.  My bf decided to call another hotel to see if there are any availabilities, however -- we were extremely tired, hungry and was going to meet up w/ a friend that night.  I didn't feel comfortable walking by myself from the lobby to my room.  It wasn't about who was staying there, but rather -- the lighting and random open/dark spaces was a bit scary.  Overall, this hotel needs to be renovated completely.  I usually check yelp reviews and I don't know why I didn't this time around.  I decided to stay here based off the reviews on TripAdvisor.  I wish I checked the reviews off yelp instead.  As soon as I woke up, I couldn't wait to check-out.

ok...  Where do I start?  My family and I stayed at this hotel for three nights.   The outside made me immediately alarmed  that we where at the Motel 6.  Luckily, the hotel lobby was very nice.  For some reason they put a 100$ hold on your credit card for incidentals BUT nothing in this room is worth $25 on a good day!  Room smelled like your grandmothers closet and the bathroom looked like grandmas too. Old, dingy, rusty......   The light by the door took about 2 hours to come on.....  Visited the bar one night and the drinks where pretty good. However there was a 150 pound dog (not a seeing eye dog) that was allowed to join us in the dining area. I do have to say the bed was very comfortable.   I have never left a hotel review but I couldn't let this one go.

I did not stay at this hotel overnight.  I just used it for a company event.  The parking situation really blows IMHO.  There is an Avis rental car is in the hotel parking lot and can be very confusing.   The hotel has a large, airy feel to it which is fine.  Not too crazy about the fax charges either. . .not that they charge for long distance faxes, but they charge by the minute.  And since I'm not sure how slow the fax machine is, I decided to just skip it.

The staff, however, rocks!  This is the only reason I rate this as 3 stars.  The staff took care of every convention need I had.

This was my first visit to Jacksonville and I wasn't impressed with the Wyndham Riverwalk. I am not a big fan of the Wyndham chain for the most part so I wasn't expecting much.

You can tell the hotel has tried to renovate..... but the building itself needs a serious overhaul. They look like old apartments and that's never a good thing.

The rooms are a bit musty... and the bathrooms.... well let's just say they didn't spend much money in there! BLAH!

The hotel does have a nice bar with good food and great bartenders. They don't have coffee on-site which was a major upset for this Starbucks loving girl.... and to top it OFF they charged me for a crappy cup-o-joe at their serve yourself coffee bar, $2.00!!!!

The location seemed to be good, but I was there for work and wasn't there to have "fun". There is a Morton's just across the street, however, I didn't get the chance to enjoy a nice steak there.

All in all... it was OK, but I think I'll try a different hotel next time!

This place has seen better days.  The riverfront location, pier out back and a (still) handsome lobby suggested a glorious past, but no longer.  The carpet is mildewy and stained, while piles of extra furniture was thrown carelessly at the corners in plain sight.  Our TV did not work, the faucet water was slightly yellowish, and the powdered egg at the complimentary breakfast was subpar.  Everything screams poor maintenance and lack of upkeep.  Extremely nice staff, but not enough spirit to revive a necrosed corpse.  Tear it down, build something smaller and smarter in which people might actually want to stay.

I had to come to Riverwalk for a conference. First, the bad news.

Check-in was a disaster. Apparently they had a big group who was in the hotel the day before. As a result, it took me 45 minutes just to check in, while other people reported 3-4 hours to check in. I also had several reports of people checking in, only to find people already in the room.

Once I got up to the room, the internet did not work. They finally "fixed" it the next day, but it still didn't work well enough to get any work done.

I forgot a belt (I know...but it happens), so I went down to the gift shop. Only to discover that there was NO gift shop ("They took it away".)

So I went to the bar to get a drink, only to discover that they could not accept change - the bar's cash register was locked and could not open.

At this point it was pretty late, so I decided to get some food. Problem - no food after 11. The kitchen closes and there was no gift shop/snack place.

So I went back to my room and tried to buy a water. Turns out the vending machine was broken also.

The only reason this place gets even one star is that the front desk staff tried their best to make it work. They were essentially abandoned by their management and left to fend for themselves. They tried hard.

On the good news side, there is a kick-ass wireless cafe across the street, as well as a Morton's and Chart House within stumbling distance.

If you have a choice, don't stay here.

My wife bought a night at the Wyndham Riverwalk off of Groupon, so we got a really good price. We live in Jacksonville and were just wanting to get away for the night. The staff has been pleasant to deal with. We did Valet the car, left for dinner and returned about 10:30, only to find that the valet people had left early for the night. We had to valet the car ourselves.
When first checking in, the lobby was very nice. Then, we walked to our room where the hallways look like you were walking through a motel 6. A little scary. The room was actually clean and ok, however the bathrooms are TINY! We had to look up pictures we had seen on the Internet and laugh. The one of the pool surrounded by lounge chairs...lie. Not a lounge chair to be found. The workout room was also tiny. On a good note, the breakfast was very good with an omelet and waffle station. However, it was free with our deal so that helped.

I know Wyndham in Chicago, IL and that is awesome with updated decor, flat screen, nice pool, good food, etc but went recently to Jacksonville, FL for my sister's college graduation. I stayed at the Wyndham Jacksonville Riverwalk Hotel and I was dissapointed.  Luckily only two of us in the room as there were barely any towels.   The TV was a big old tube TV with cable but reception bad so had to complain about that.  Had to complain about a foot rest that was broken. Had to complain about mildew on the cloth shower curtain.  The bathroom extremely small.  The free continental breakfast I thought came with room did not, it was 16 bucks a person.  I am dissapointed to say this hotel is called a Wyndham as it is not up to the standards I am used to in Chicago, IL.

This hotel is in a transitional phase and I don't think it knows yet what it wants to be. It's in the right spot and has the right size and features for the weekend convention crowd or it can play the always popular host for fans wanting to be close to the stadium for the Jags game. It's not a ritzy boutique hotel but it has the size and features to be more upscale than your typical place filled with families whose young children are overtaking the pool and making all kinds of racket. As I was staying here on business for an event being held on the main floor's ballroom, I found the staff very helpful in accommodating our needs.

The lodging portion is where said transition is apparent. In the process of modernization I was caught in the middle. The hallway to the rooms appeared outdated so my sights were low at the start. The room itself was more redeeming, though the door had to be shut forcefully and each time made a loud clamor when doing so. You can usually tell how modern your hotel room is by instantly checking the television. Is it a flat screen? Mine was not. The mirrored slide-door covering the closet did not have a bottom track so it just kind of hung and swayed there. And it smelled like paint. Maybe I got the room mid-update? Bathroom looked 20+ years aged with dim lighting, but the shower head gave the desired amount of water pressure though the water heater took time to activate. Wall A/C unit made noise even when shut off.

But the bed was comfortable and the room was clean! My two biggest wants in a hotel room were covered, so that made it all worth it. Of course after checking out the valet workers were extremely pushy trying to talk us into letting one of them drive us to the airport when the city taxi did not show up at its expected arrival time (one minute late). Tip whores.

My recent stay at your Jacksonville property was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever had, and I was a travel agent for 25 years.

Let's talk about the good- the beds were fairly comfy (offset by marginal linens, a thin old comforter and flat pillows), the TV a newer flat screen, The ac worked (noisy, but it worked), and the location was close to the Skyway.

The worst part was Saturday night when we got back from the Jazz Fest completely exhausted and just wanting to sleep. There was a party going on in the lobby which is an open atrium onto which our room (408) opened that magnified the THUMPING base and loud music that vibrated the whole place. When I called down to the front desk, they simply said "Didn't you see the fliers? This is a convention hotel, and this should be expected. The party goes till 1 a.m. Sorry". The noise did not end until nearly 2A.  Also- the key entry slid 2" from side to side before finally allowing me to enter the mildew smelling room. Then we were awakened each day at sunrise because the drapes didn't fully close and flooded the room with light. The lighting was terrible, a single sink area outside the bathroom wasn't nearly big enough. The piece de resistance was finding a used pair of undies under the bed,,,,covered in dust.

This hotel is in DESPERATE need of renovation- even the rating of 2.5 stars is misleadingly high.

I understand booking at a Hotwire rate of $53 was a good deal- but not if the room is not clean or well-maintained, And in my opinion, the very least you should be able to expect from any hotel is a quiet environment in which to get a good night's sleep.

If I book your hotel in the future, if I can not be assigned a quiet room at the back of the hotel not anywhere near the atrium noise- I will cancel immediately so as not to take a chance of having a night like Saturday, May 25th, ever again!

I recently stayed here while in Jacksonville for a night. As other reviewers previously stated, the lobby gives a false perception of what you will get at this hotel. As opposed to the modern looking lobby, the rooms and hallways are in serious need of renovation. Although the rooms are not dirty (in fact they were rather clean) they indeed appear dirty because of how old everything appears.

I must say the staff from the lobby to the valet were absolutely great. The customer service was excellent and for that reason they got an extra star. Unfortunately I can't speak for the hotel restaurant/bar.

Outdated, smells like mildew, had my room changed 3 times and was upgraded to a mildewed, smelly, outdated suite with an Air conditioning unit that was so loud it was impossible to get to sleep. Trash and dirty linens in the hallway were left there for hours. Great location on the Riverwalk.  Someone needs to buy this one and revive it.  Will never stay there again.

I just checked in and I can't get out fast enough!
This looks like an abandoned building that somebody took over with a bucket of white paint. The rooms smell damp (today is raining), the lights barely illuminate anything, the popcorn ceilings match the old fashioned curtains, and furniture... and I am not expecting so much from the food either since they are already recommending me to go somewhere else. The bathroom is so bad, that instinctively I used toilet paper to lift the cover and flush, like if I was in a pub. By the way, that toilet is still making noise I'll have to check it out.... HELPPPPPP!!!! Get me out of here!!!!!!

WTF! I just came back from dinner. It is 10:00 p.m. Raining cats and dogs... and nobody in the valet parking thet they already charged me for. The guy in reception tells me that they are gone for the night, so I have to drive around looking for a parking spot half a state away, got SOAKED on my way back... and God only knows whether my car will be towed or broken into by tomorrow. Definitely, I should have read the other reviews before booking.

am i able to give it zero stars?  that is how i feel it deserved.

I am on a road trip heading down to miami.
the stop i made previously was Charleston, SC and we stayed at the Aloft.  both reservations, the wyndham and Aloft were made thru Priceline.  Priceline gave Aloft 2 stars and Wyndham 3.  IF Aloft was 2, Wyndham should be -1.

Starting off, the parking was a mess.  The signs outside stated valet parking only at the hotel.  So as i was getting out, another guest was coming out and said to me  you don't need to valet.  I asked the valet and he said thats correct, just park to the side.  After parking, i went to check in and told the front desk individual where i parked.  He said, oh, it is only valet.  I started explaining to him what the valet said to me and he said, well, i know the night security and they will tow  you.  I said, well, if that is case, we need to fix this.  Another employee came and said he would talk to the valet.  During that time, the front desk guy was trying to convince me that the valet people and the hotel people are totally separate, and they have their own policies?  what BS is that?

so a few minutes later, that 3rd employee said yeah, you can just park on the side.

    problem solved.

upon entering my room, i was reading the booklet they had on the desk.  Under the parking section, it gave you 2 options.  self park for 10 and valet 12.  Do they know what is going on????

Now for the room.  It was old and dated.  Room was dark, sheets not washed cleanly.   wallpaper was peeling and the paint showed signs of water damage.

in all, horrible experience.  I left a comment on their facebook and twitter and someone said they would call me.

i'm still waiting for that call.. which probably will never happen.

Booked this hotel with a Groupon special without checking reviews, which I normally do. It was just a quick, one night trip so I really didn't think much about it....until the drive down when I happen to look at some reviews. I was then terrified and certain I would be crying myself to sleep that night. I didn't. It wasn't the most incredible hotel I've stayed at, but not nearly as bad as some made it out to be. We got in late in the evening and check in took less than five minutes. Also, we were going to use the valet, but he kindly offered us a free parking pass if we self-parked, so my husband dropped us off at the entrance and we parked for free. The halls were a little bit warm, but we didn't experience the musty smell that a lot of people talked about. The room smelled clean, and with the exception of some dust/debris in one corner, the room was clean. The only other negative was the lighting, which they have tried to remedy with the addition of extra table lamps and corner lamp. The AC and plumbing worked fine. Water pressure and hot water were great. There was a large flat screen TV and Wi-Fi was decent. The beds were very comfortable, which to me, was the most important thing. I've paid four times more for a luxury hotel and couldn't sleep at all because the bed was horribly uncomfortable.  We didn't utilize any extra services (bar, restaurant, room service) so I can't comment on that. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised and would consider staying here again depending on the type of trip/length of stay.

I can't figure out why our room is so damp. After reading the reviews online, I questioned canceling my reservation but thought I would give the Wyndham a chance. Upon entering our room, which I requested an updated room due to allergies, we were knocked down by the dampness, the carpet and sheets feel wet and I think we are the only ones in the entire hotel. Be prepared to pay the $12 a day valet fee. Convenient to downtown and the river but until they fix/update this hotel we will not be coming back.

Had I spent $250 per night, I would have been displeased with the heater that smelled a bit musty the first night I used it, the CRT television, slow wifi, and the lack of a refrigerator.  But for less than $100 per night, I have nothing but praise.  A full hot and cold breakfast buffet with omelet bar was included each morning in the meager price I paid.  The service at the front desk and restaurant were terrific, the ground were clean and safe, and for the 20 minute walk across the bridge to my conference, I saved $110 per night compared to my colleagues in the conference hotel (no breakfast for them either).

Who knew Wyndman had a Hostel chain?!?!?!

HORRIBLE!!! Don't waste your money staying at this dump! The Front desk service is as miserable, if not weaker than their non existent "WIFI." Weirdly enough, unlike every other post about this old moldy building, I have no complaints about the room, just about the horrific front desk crew. Kenneth, you need a new gig ASAP!!! Always a good sign when the hotel staff blames all their problems on you, the customer, or "Mr. Harris," the General Manager. Oh yeah, it is true, the valet does disapear at 10:45pm. Don't wast the extra 2 bucks...

Some part of this hotel was ok, others wasn't.

Check-in reception: 2 (seemed irritated that we had questions about activities in the area and she was actually unpolit)
Wifi: 1 (slow and very bad connection)
Valet parking: 4 (friendly service and costs only $12)
Bar: 4 (Good and friendly service, good selection of drinks, beers etc.)
Pool area: 4 (Great for kids and the pool has a good sice)
Rooms: 1 (As other has discriped the rooms are VERY wearned, you can be lucky and get a room with a nice sea view. Make sure you get one on 5th floor. Those have a balcony. Beds are old and not comfort at all. Aircon didn't work - only fan)
Food at resturant = 3 (Pizza are fresh made and ok deep pan pizza's)

    Total = 2, I have tried better!!

Read the other reviews, they are all spot on (and its July, 2012).  Old, decrepid, worn out, SMELLY, moldy, breakfast NOT included... wow.

For all the available hotes in this area, the Wyndham should NOT be your choice.

Great entry, pleasant staff but the rooms are disgusting.  Opened the in room coffee maker to poor water in, I can write dirty in the dust inside. Tub has mold, the light fixtures have cob webs and dust.  Nasty.
The room smells of cigarette smoke (non smoking room) and mold.  The wallpaper is peeling and the ceiling looks in poor condition.  The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything!!!!!!!!!!!
Not worth the money, in need of a major renovation and a cleaning crew that actually knows how to clean!

Just as the other reviewer said the lobby is decent with AC but the elevator and everything about this hotel is old.  The hotel staff is nice but they initially gave us a room that still had someone or at least someone's things still in it.  Imagine opening the door to see a wet towel hanging in bathroom, a suitcase on the floor and the tv on.  Gross!  When we went downstairs to let the front desk know, they said the room is supposed to be empty.  So are you saying we imagined the suitcase, the tv?  We got another room but there's only lamps (probably to keep the room poorly lit so you can't see on the stains), there is no lock on the door, only a latch that offers little to no feeling of security.  They still have tube tv s.  What is decent about the hotel is the size of the bathroom, the quality of the bed and the working AC in the room.

I am from Chicago and had an interview in Jacksonville on a Saturday. I was in Jacksonville (first time there for less than 24 hours) This hotel made my experience so great, from start to finish! When I pulled up the Valet asked me if I was checking in and I said yes, check in isn't until 3:00 (my interview was at 2:00 so I was hoping maybe they could help me out early) He said he would keep my car close if they didn't have a room available.

I walked into the hotel, could tell it was remodeled but I kind of liked the old feeling of it.  As I  was checking in, Kelly (Guest services supervisor) was great! I explained that  I knew it check in isn't until 3:00 but I had an interview before then. (I work in a restaurant attached to a hotel and I know it can be a pain sometimes)  She said that she had a couple of rooms that checked out and that she would call housekeeping and have them clean one room for me . She also gave me a piece of paper with convenient stores on it (silly me forgot my phone charger in Chicago)  I gave her my phone number and went back to the car and explored Jacksonville for a little bit.
About an hour 1/2 later she called me to tell me my room was ready.  I was so happy.  I went back to the hotel, the room was great.  Comfortable bed. My hair dryer didn't work, no big deal to me since I was only using the room for less than 24 hours.

After my interview, the valet's were friendly, even asked me how my interview went.  I changed and headed out to a fun bar that another recommended to watch the Blackhawks game.  When I got back I decided to finish watching the game at the hotel bar. The bartenders were FANTASTIC. Made me feel comfortable (i'm not one to sit at a bar by myself) and I had a great time! Even the other guests were friendly & Id have to say that the free popcorn is a nice touch!

The staff was AWESOME, I have no idea why these reviews are so bad on here.  I am moving to Jacksonville in about 3 weeks and this definitely made me enjoy the city.

A few months ago a new manager called to apologize for the issues.  It was about 8 months too late, but I'll knock it up a star. He offered to let us come back and stay for free, but I don't really want to :(

The only reason I'm giving one star is because I can't give no stars.  As I sit here right now, the cable/satellite service has been out for going on 8 hours.  That is a mere symptom of many, many larger problems.

The only reason to stay here is if you LOVE any of the following:

    * the constant smell of mildew
    * a lack of sundry services, substituted for by vending machines that work with varying degrees of success
    * 21-inch television sets that provide a very grainy picture
    * an in-room workstation that has NO LAMP OR POWER OUTLETS
    * a neighborhood virtually bereft of any meaningful places to go
    * a shower basin that leaks water all over the undersized bathroom floor
    * sandpaper-quality sheets
    * a swimming pool that must have been transplanted from the National Institutes of Health's uninspired bacteria vats
    * ceilings that leak varying forms of condensation
    * WiFi that's rumored to exist.

In short, this place needs a ton of work.  It has plainly seen better days.  Like in 1986.

Laying in my bed on the eve of a conference I have to get up for at 5am listening to blaring rap music at 1130pm from a bikers convention they are having downstairs!

Like the other reviews said, nice lobby, friendly staff. Small, dirty, run down rooms with paper thin walls. Supposed to be here for 8 nights, leaving after 2 moving to a different hotel. Choose a different hotel. There are tons in the area!

I just accidentally gave this place a great review on Priceline because I thought it was the Hyatt in Nashville that I just stayed at and I can't edit it so....
I didn't check any reviews because of the good name & the fact it came recommended by a "friend" PLUS I got it for $86 a night and that was too much.  Doors wouldn't latch completely & even after closed, locked & safety latched I could still see my neighbors in the hallway.  Got a nice exfoliation thing going drying off with the sand paper like bath towels. Peeling wall paper, popcorn ceilings in bathrooms, loose, worn out and demolish ready.  This place is probably worth the $86 a day if that we're to own the entire building.
Now, the employees really were super friendly & helpful but if I ever have to return I'll probably get a room somewhere else or sleep in my truck and stop by to say hi to the friendly people.

Yes, i most defiantly have experienced better.

I have noticed as I travel in Florida, that some of these hotels use the view to lure you in, and don't ever pay attention to themselves.. like... stepping into at LEAST the 90's with your decor and remodeling.

This place was no exception.  I was hopeful going somewhere with the Wyndham name, but upon arrival... was somewhat disappointed.

Parking is crazy, and not well defined... and there is no real parking by the front door, but you can pay extra for valet service.  Its all coded to get to the parking lot.

As I was walking to my room, I noticed that humid, damp, smell in the hallways.  The carpeting was so warn, that it is in desperate need of replacing.  I just prayed that at least my room was clean.  It was.   They have TV's in there that are soooo old, i would have thought I was in the Joe Schmo Hotel Motel....  I mean really.  But, i was glad my room was clean... did I say that already?    They do have a cool chair to sit in that has outlets in the arms, good for the business traveler - like me :)

In the morning I noticed that they have breakfast, I didn't get to try the restaurant... but it did smell pretty stinkin good.   They have a conference center, however, as I stated before, everything is just so outdated, and not in the cute historical type of way.  No matter how clean you keep something, you can't remove years and years of age.

The location is great with regards to by the water.  There is nothing around it but a bunch of empty buildings and other hotels.. but you are close to downtown with out the hassle... oh wait.. an IHOP!! Oh, no, as I approach it.. its not my house of pancakes.. but the International House of Prayer...   sigh......

Very disappointed in our stay. The room we stayed in was very poorly kept up. The sinks leaked, the bathroom light worked when it wanted, the floor was wet from the air conditioning, the shower head was filthy, and the shower floor had mold on it. I brought this up to the front desk and was told "sorry, I can have maintenance look at the sink."

I do not recommend this hotel and will not stay at any Wyndam in the future.

It must have been a nice hotel at one point.  Now it's a run-down dump that tries too hard to be "classy" (fancy lobby, valet parking only, etc).

The bed was very comfortable and staff was nice enough.

Dumpy hotel.  I have no idea where they get off calling this a resort -- maybe because it's on the river?

I'll be brief, because it's 4 AM and I'm desperately trying to get some sleep.

Can't get any sleep, because I am seriously being flanked on all sides by loud hotel parties.  You can hear everything through the walls here, especially bass, conversations, doors being slammed, beer bottles being broken, etc.

The room (and bed, especially) smells moldy as all get out, as if the windows were open 24/7.

Spiders, roaches in the hallways.  Deteriorating walls, poor lighting, mold in the ceiling.

I had to listen to the poor girl at the check-in desk get reamed in three separate phone calls before I finished checking in.  She seemed as bummed about this place as I am.

Oh, and the "mandatory valet parking" is a scam -- literally.  I flagged one of the drivers down and asked if valet really was mandatory, as depicted by the signage that says "hotel parking - valet only."  He said, no, just pull around the back and park wherever you want.  You get charged an additional $10 for parking on your security deposit, anyway.  Here's to hoping my car doesn't get towed before morning.

Finally, the price -- got a "deal" of $85 on a single king room.  I've stayed in nicer, quieter $45 rooms, no joke.  I'll never stay here again.  It's a shame, because I've stayed at a Wyndham dozens of times in Orlando for less, and it blows this place out of the water.  Stay somewhere else.

Please stay here after you have completely exhausted every place else you could stay including under some slightly used cardboard or newspaper under one of Jacksonville's fine well lit bridges. Please trust my review. Unless you find out that over $600,000,000 in renovations just happened right before you enter your credit card number on Expedia, please choose another city or potentially choose another country.

This place is in the heart if downtown Jacksonville. Nice location. Feet away from river walk although it's still under construction. The hotel is old and needs serious updating of everything. Their gym equipment are ancient. Our room smells musty and old. Wifi is free but very slow. Service is ok. I will not use this hotel anymore.

Yup, this is a hotel and 'conference center'.  It is not particularly clean or nice.  The staff is fine.  The food is mediocre.
    1. Walls are thin.  During our stay my friend and I heard neighbors partying and lovemaking every day.
    2.  Lighting in the bathrooms is terrible.  The bathroom is tiny, the single energy-efficient lightbulb is inadequate to wash yourself or to clean the bathroom.  My bathroom also had fluid leaking from the ceiling; luckily it dripped right into the toilet.
    3.  "Green policy" but not actually green behavior.  I put my towel back on the rack every day to indicate that I'd like to reuse it, and every day the housekeeper replaced it with a new one.  Similarly, at our conference the staff would remove our coffee cups between each meeting despite intentions to reuse.
    4.  "Free WiFi" exceptionally slow with no power outlets available in conference center.

    1.  Block conference attendees so all the boring quiet people are together and all the partying people are together.
    2.  Increase wattage in bathroom fixtures.
    3.  Actually follow the "green" policy

Upon arrival the hotel looks good. The front desk attendant told my boyfriend we could valet the car for $12 or self-park for $10, we chose to self-park because we knew we were going to drive to our restaurant later that evening. If there was self-parking, we couldn't find it. All parking was barricaded off with signs that said 'valet only'. So after driving around for 10 minutes to find the elusive self-parking, we decided to valet.

The hotel lobby is very cool and very large. It has it's own bar/ restaurant, pool table, foose ball table, complimentary water- all and all pretty nice. Our room was on the third floor and on our way up I noticed the whole hotel could use a little makeover. The carpet was outdated and a majority of the walls and room doors were dirty/scuffed up. Once we arrived to our room we were welcomed by a very musty smell and the only explanation we could think of was that the carpets were recently steamed and did not have proper ventilation to dry, laving a wet/moldy smell. They also felt a little damp. Since we checked in late, wanted food asap, and were only staying for one night, we braved the smell and did not complain- I hate complaining and won't unless it's absolutely necessary. Also, check out wasn't until noon, but we were woken up around 8 (that I assume was from our bill delivery slid under our door) and again around 10 from room service, which was kind of annoying.

All in all it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. We got the room on Groupon for a great price and the hotel was very close to downtown Jacksonville, but the smell of the room was a big downfall. On the hotel website, the rooms looked great- we didn't have a river view because they were all taken- so maybe our room was just a not-so-nice one they give to people who purchase cheaper rooms? I'm unsure but I know I would not stay here again.

Needs a serious makeover. Lobby is okay but the hallways and rooms are dark and dull. Bed was comfy and the tv worked well. Room service was decent. Lobby staff attentive but other hotel staff acted like they didnt want to be there. Drab drab drab. Wont stay here again when there are other newer places down the street.

Had a good  time at the hotel. Staff very friendly. Did not like the fact that you had to valet and receive a charge of $12 a night for this service. Room was nice very comfy bed and pillows. Only negative was no fan in bathroom and light was very dark. TV was updated!!
We stayed here for a birthday weekend, and booked it at a great price. I wouldn't pay over $125.00 a night though. There are better options to stay downtown but if you look around and get a great price then it is worth it.

We really enjoyed our stay here.  We asked for a room on the water and had a decent view of the St. John's River and a partial view of downtown.  That was especially neat when the dolphins were jumping around in the morning.

The room was very nice and clean.  We didn't have any issues with stains or smells like some other people experienced- everything was great.  Other people wrote that the bathroom was the size of a closet but the actual bathroom was just the shower and the toilet so how big do you want it?  The sink was in the little alcove leading towards the bathroom- again clean and updated with granite.

The interior of the hotel itself (the hallways) could definitely use a little sprucing up- the walls and doors were in desperate need of new paint but they weren't smelly and musty like other reviewers had said.  Also, we had a soda machine on our floor that appeared to take your room key as payment- however, it was very broken.  The thing had obviously been damaged and never fixed.  To me that is just odd.  Do they never check to restock the machine and realize it is broken?  Lazy.

The only thing we really hated was the forced $12.00 valet parking.  If this were a Ritz-Carlton or a Four Seasons I could see the need and demand for valet parking.  If this hotel were in the middle of a major metropolitan I could see a need and demand for Valet parking.  However, they have a HUGE lot that was empty.  We parked our car across the street at the Extended Stay and left it there during our stay and had no issues.

The hotel was not awful- for us it was pretty good and convenient.  The Wi-Fi was quick and  tons of channels on TV (ignore the ten channels they list in the welcome book- we had about 80 channels) However, if you are used to the other really nice hotels with the Wyndham brand name, you will be terribly disappointed here.

We would stay again but only if we were guaranteed to have a river view because otherwise it is probably not worth it.

14-16 Nov 14, For the cost and the name I expected better. I understand the location is premium in nature but the Riverwalk is under construction at this time. I was happy with the staff, but surprised to find no microwave and at least a small refrigerator in the room. Red Roof is the last Hotel I reserved and at almost half the price and it had all of the above in a very nice setting. The real downer was the internet, more like the absent net. It was horrible the entire stay and without exaggeration it was so difficult to successfully sign on and use it we all but stopped bothering.

To make matters worse, the business room had two computers that were apparently very old they were so slow, although they were able to access the net, the lack of performance made them an unattractive alternative.

I was on the 3rd floor with a view of the river, but would have preferred respectable internet access.

Tough one here because of the room rate of $90 (river view double). If this room was $150 a night I would be howling with anger. But the fact is, it is cheap and the location is good.

"Tired" is too kind. It is worn out and probably being sold or demolished which is why they are pumping zero dollars into it.

Gripes too numerous to list. Be thankful your aren't employed here because the staff is getting yelled at by a guest at this very moment.

This place has left an indelible mark in my conscience and it will earn the recognition as being my first ever 1* rating on Yelp. What does it take to earn 1*? Let me share my unfortunate experience:

    - Sign after sign tells you valet only for hotel guests. So, I reluctantly hand over my rental vehicle keys to the valet to be told at check-in my room includes free self-parking. I then ask for my keys back from the valet and he is cool about it. I ask where is the self parking area and he directs me through the gate that says valet only.

    - When I get to my room, I am afraid to take my shoes off and walk around--even with socks on. The lights do not work (fixed by engineering after I call), there is a musty smell, the A/C is a motel-type under the window, and the bed has a stained decorative throw which I cannot throw off the bed fast enough. Oh, suspicious stains on towels and sheets which I pretended were just my imagination.

    - poor way finding (aka signage) from parking lot back to hotel entrance and in the hotel conference areas back to the lobby

    - lack of maintenance and attention to detail is rampant--paint chips, peeling wall paper, scratches on the piano, water stains on dining tables, dirty light fixtures, overflowing trash cans, doors that do not open/close properly to exterior areas.

Redeeming features that move from 0* to 1*:
    - good water pressure in shower (avert your eyes from the mildew)
    - friendly front desk staff

Maybe when I was in college, I did not care about where I slept and comfort of accommodations. However, I'm an old man now that works very hard and I don't want to worry about bed bugs, strange stains or unreliable electrical outlets. There are 1 and 2* rated hotels that can be amazing, and I think this is 3* because it has a restaurant on site. I would urge you, my fellow yelper, to look elsewhere unless the price is really that much better vs. surrounding properties. If management does not pay attention to the details, then I would rather pay my hard earned time and money to another hotel.

This was probably the funk in '83.

As many other reviewers will explain, the staff is very nice. Keep that in mind, the free wi-fi, and the inexpensive rates when you wonder why the architect created a huge echo chamber lobby with the rooms surrounding it so you hear everything at night. Otherwise, you just wonder how this place hasn't been replaced by a condo yet.

I usually check yelp reviews for restaurants and I don't know why I didn't this time around for the hotel.  I decided to stay here based off the reviews on TripAdvisor.  I wish I checked the reviews off yelp instead.  After 11 1/2 months, my husband and I were finally able to take a honeymoon.  I'm terribly disappointed and sad that this weekend turned out so awful.

I could write for an hour about everything, but I will just give the highlights...wait, lowlights...of our stay.

Checkin -- Valet parking only at $12 a day.  Waited in line for 15 minutes to get our room keys.  Was told that I could not receive Wyndham points on this stay because I'd prebooked/prepaid for the room.

The Lobby -- Airy, spacious.  Cafe and bar.  Pool table, foosball table. Bizarre art and carpeting ("modern"?)

The Room -- No deadbolt on the door.  Security latch was broken.  Tiny tub/toilet area in the bathroom was lit by one bulb that was extremely dim.  Tub was fiberglass with 4" white tiles like in any suburban home.  Wifi was good.  TV was flatscreen.  Our view -- the roof.  The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding was soft, yet well-worn.  Here was the surprise -- no fridge or microwave in the room! What?  You can go to a Motel 6, Days Inn, Super 8, etc., and have a micro/fridge!!!  This is a (supposedly) high-end chain and you don't have a place to put leftovers?  We called the front desk that night asking to put our leftovers in a fridge somewhere and a man brought a mini fridge to our room!  Why not give one in the first place?

*The Bar -- We discovered that if customers sit at the bar, they are served immediately.  We sat at a table 6 feet from the bar and were ignored.  After about 6 minutes, the bartender asked what we would like.  We ordered and other customers sat at the bar.  She served those customers wine, beer from draft, beer in bottles, and something she made in a cocktail shaker.  THEN she made our drinks and brought them 7 minutes after we had ordered.  We ordered food and miraculously it arrived fresh and hot in about 5 minutes.  We had the house-made chips (wonderful), the Char Su Egg Roll (super hot, crispy and filled nicely with meat and veggies, with a slightly spicy dipping sauce), and the Vietnamese wrap (Beef in lettuce, with Satay dipping sauce).  All of the food was excellent.  Our bill for two drinks and the food was $48.  When we asked how late the bar would be open, the bartender told us as long as customers are there.  Uh....not very helpful.

*The Breakfast Buffet. -- DISASTER.  At Check in , we got 2 free buffet tickets, and we used them on Sunday morning about 10am.  (Breakfast was scheduled until 11am.)  All tables were full when we arrived, but people soon left. The front desk clerk came over and started clearing off the tables.  When a table was cleared, we sat down.  And waited. And waited.  Servers walked past us, helping others.  We were ignored for about ten minutes.  My husband made himself a plate at the buffet and returned to the table just as the server handed us plastic cutlery, explaining that they were really busy and that she'd bring us real silverware and napkins later, then she left.

After asking four more times for silverware and napkins, including other servers, our server brought our bill and set it on the table!!!  She literally said to me that if I needed anything just to let her know.  I told her that we had asked repeatedly for silverware and that everyone seated after us had received them.  I said we'd also like condiments...butter, jelly, ketchup, etc.,  oh and a drink would be nice!!!   She muttered again about being really busy and returned shortly after with silverware, ketchup and jelly, placed them on  the corner of the table, and walked away.  We never got water or OJ like the other tables and served ourselves coffee from the urns.

Another thing to mention was the food itself.  Eggs, oatmeal, grits, biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, potatoes.   When I made my plate and returned to the table, my food was stone cold!  I even checked to make sure the Sterno burners were on under the chafing dishes!  Other customers had bananas and cups of yogurt, but there was none when we were there.  Only some cut up cantaloupe and honeydew.   A few times we noticed servers filling up foam trays with food from the buffet and we wondered if they were getting their own meals.  If so, this would be entirely inappropriate to do in front of customers.

As we were finishing, the servers were clearing away the tables and talking amongst themselves about how ANNOYING it was to have to take up room service...that they'd had to leave their tables behind and take food up to people who were too lazy to get out of bed.  So...were the servers filling trays for room service orders?  Ew!  Cold food from a buffet?

Pool table -- felt was ripped, cues need new tips, table felt  warped.

Just so sad that our weekend was so disappointing.  Not up to the Wyndham standards.

Horrible experience! Waited an additional 2 hours for my suite. Told that it was not ready. No complimentary anything offered to compensate the wait. They have forced valet service that you must pay for with no self parking. Staff and management are very unfriendly and not properly trained in customer service. One of the most disappointing stays that I have ever had. If there were availability somewhere nearby we would have left. Our convention was being hosted there so they knew people were coming.

Considering the location convenience, you would think the management would have higher standards - NOT SO.  This place stinks (figuratively and literally).  If you came to JAX to enjoy the smell of the ocean (or shrimp boats), you came to the right hotel.  There is a musty smell the moment you walk in.  The front desk staff is slow as heck; not surprising since they do not seem to have the most sophisticated computer equipment to work with.

The room itself is very dated; they definitely need to renovate this place soon.  The bed itself was comfortable and I actually slept well, but you would expect a better overall experience.

Oh - one last tip:  Check your bill against your credit card statement closely, especially if you book through a service like Hotels.com or something similar.  Consider yourself warned!

Very disappointed. Poor quality room more suited to something at a freeway off ramp. Too expensive by far, and the pitiful attempt to recoup revenue by having valet parking was ridiculous, although the valets were great. I would be astonished if this place were in business in a year, as well as a bit disappointed. Three false fire alarms during the night capped off the hellish experience. If I had been there for pleasure I would have asked for a refund.

I've been a frequent guest of this hotel, staying here MANY times over the past three years.

Most of my stays here were two star quality, a couple one star and a three star.

If you play your cards right, you'll be on the top floor with a balcony.  The view leaves something to be desired but fresh air is nice.

The location is great for the traveling businessman/woman working locally, with a half hour or less drive to the beach.

Why were a couple stays one star?  There was a roach in the room doorway once.  DO NOT use the coffee maker.  It looks like they rarely, if ever, get cleaned.
    There was a FIRE once.

It happened at like 2 am and I was scared to death by the siren, feeling like I awoke to a horror movie.  Then, the front desk rang me with what seemed to be an automated message. A woman coldly recited that there is a fire in the building and to please evacuate immediately.

I grabbed my most valued belongings, my guitar and computer, not knowing if I would be able to get anything else and warily made my way out of the room, checking the knob for heat, like I learned in that old 90s movie, Backdraft.  I had to open a couple of fire doors that were already closed on my floor and scrambled down the fire exit.

With my grand luck the fire was on my side of the building and the smell of smoke grew as I descended.  It was scary as the smoke was so thick on the first three floors that visibility was reduced to just a few feet.

I did make it out, obviously, although my eyes were watery.  I looked back and the laundry room was completely engulfed in smoke.

I decided to just leave and not hang around as the firetrucks pulled up, and I drove off.

I went to a fast food joint near my bank and called the hotel about 45 minutes later.  They then reassured me that the fire was put out and it was safe to return.

The hotel took care of my parking charge for the inconvenience, at least.
The spring mechanisms in the doors are as pitiful as the Doubletree in Tallahassee, Fla.  Add vagrants to the mix and you have a nice, loud, yelling, trash party midnight on Friday.  Just get some ear plug, Sony headphones (only like $20), put on some ambient music on Pandora and you'll be fine through the night.

The valet parking is a scam.  They REQUIRE it.  I've never been to a hotel that didn't offer a reduced rate self parking option.  I've heard rumor that the hotel has been struggling with bankruptcy and this fact is evidence of that.  They are trying to make more money, when they can, where they can.

    The internet speed is fine.

You can get quite the deal on Priceline if you know what you're doing.

All things considered, if you're looking for the most bang for your buck, like not on a vacation, this a good spot, especially if you are visiting on business.

Loved this room - would have liked a better view and it's not in the greatest part of the neighborhood however the staff and the amenities made up for it at a very affordable price.
The room was a good size for being 2 adults and a child, the beds were very comfortable and I wasn't concerned about an 'creepy crawlies'.  the restaurant downstairs was good with very wonderful waitstaff.
    I would stay here again.

From the outside, it seems nice enough.  From the lobby you can tell that at one point this hotel was top of the line.  Once you get up to your room however you can tell the "one point" was probably in the 1980s.  The rooms need a remodel, and the fact that the picture on the wall was permanently affixed crooked tells me they don't care much to fix it up.  The place also had a funky/musty smell in the hallways and the rooms, but you stopped noticing it after about 15 minutes.  It's not a horrible place and the bed and chairs were quite comfortable.  A good cleaning and some fresh paint and this place could be back up to it's former glory... or at least to 3 stars.

I give this DUMP negative stars. This place should be condemned. Absolutely disgusting. Wyndham you should be ashamed. Who's running your company let alone that particular hotel. Cracks and mold in the rooms, falling off wallpaper, missing bulbs and missing lamps. Missing furniture. No trash cans. Wet carpet in bedroom obviously shower or pan  has problems.
Calling the health department today. Tried to post this with no stars but Yelp wouldn't let me. We need a negative star rating to use.

The lobby is really beautiful but our room was dated and slightly dingy. Seemed quite clean though. Good view from the 5th floor over the pool. I was scared of the balcony though, it looked like it could break off at any moment. #paranoid. Staff is really helpful and friendly from valets to front desk to housekeepers. Wolfgang Puck coffee in room and few cute little amenities. Free wifi which was slow but maybe because the hotel was full to capacity. Great location with the river taxi a few steps away, or you can do what I did and walk across the bridge to Jacksonville Landing. (Which is not really worth going to LOL- mostly closed retail and only a few restaurants.) When I left there was a lineup for the buffet breakfast so I didn't have anything, but it looked really good. Lots of options. Would I stay again? I would probably look for a different property as the price range does not match the hotel, except for the lobby, and you don't sleep in the lobby! If there were no better options though, I would stay again.

This place is so bad I wish I could give them no stars. Loud people in the halls and lobby and when I complained about it at 10p I was told it would probably be like that all night. Couldn't retrieve a message from my phone. Engineering came up and he had to call someone else to help him. Hallways rugs are stained and smell of urine. Trash in the hallways. The topper was when I closed the bathroom door and found a pair of men's underwear hanging on the hook and questionable hairs on the floor in the corner.

Musty smell in the hallways & room. Room was dirty- needing vacuuming and cleaning. If I wasn't here for work- I would have left immediately. Don't waste your time or money here...

Run down hotel that needs a complete make over.  Or maybe just bulldoze it and start new.  My first room I couldn't get in to. Three trips up and down the SLOW elevator to the front desk to get new keys. Finally had to just change rooms. Outlets in the room don't work. Broken light bulbs in the fixtures. Tears in the furniture. Bed was good but that's about it. Find another place- I'm  going to crown plaza now. I've had enough.

3 star prices at a 1 start experience. Might as well stayed in a motel off the highway would have gotten the same stay experience at a cheaper price.

    The Bad:
    * It costs $10 to park WTF?
    * Room cleanliness left much to be desired
*Faucet handle fell off in the bathroom
    * Had a ROACH in the room
    * Views of the river were not very good

    The good:
    *Staff was very friendly
*Breakfast buffet was reasonable ($12.95) and food was good
*Wait staff in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful

So basically the people that work there were very nice but that actual hotel seems run down and not well maintained. Would not stay here again.

No. Don't even think about staying here. It smells old and moldy and it is old and moldy. I read the other reviews but I didn't have much of an option to not stay there as I was there for a conference but I was hoping for the best.

What went wrong you ask? There was a roach in my room, I thought the toilet was going to come off the wall every time I sat down and the toilet was so loud, even with the door shut! Had it not been for the roach I would have given them a higher rating but that's just unacceptable. There's no major light in the room so it makes the place seem older and as if I'm staying at a motel off the highway.

On the plus side, the staff was extremely friendly and the conference rooms were great. They serve complimentary coffee outside the breakfast restaurant that is actually a decent cup of jo.

I will not stay here again, if given the choice. For a hotel in downtown Jacksonville on the river, this place could be so much better. I laid out in the pool area and you could see the roof falling apart.. Get it together! It's in a decent location but definitely needs a face lift!

This is an old hotel that was probably very nice back in the day but is quite dated now. I can see where they have done some updates in the lobby but the carpet is very sad and ripped in many areas. The rooms have not been updated. Mine had a strong musty odor. The walls were warped or peeling in some places. The ceiling above the shower was discolored and cracked.

That being said, I was very impressed by the staff that handled our conference. Diane was fantastic. The food was way better than I expected. The bed was very comfortable and the water in the shower was very hot and the pressure was ideal. I would not refuse to come back here if there was another conference. However, I would not choose to stay here recreationally.
