A great little bed and breakfast on the quiet side of Duval street (by the water). The rooms are small (but very romantic with canopy beds and wood floors) and unfortunately they didn't mention that there would be construction going on during our quick weekend get-away but it was nonetheless a very nice stay. The token b&b cat greeted us when we arrived and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. We skipped the breakfast on the porch since we wanted to try one of the cozy French restaurants a couple of blocks away but sat outside with coffee and ice-cream a couple of times,  watched the eclectic crowd of the island walk/bike/shuffle/run by. The location is excellent; a short walk to the center of the Duval Street action but not in the middle of it so it's quiet. Bike rentals right across the street (we rode the bikes to the beach, locked up them up and rented a Hobie Cat, all just a few minutes away). If you are looking for the perfect, dreamy, sappy, romantic b&b Avalon is THE place.

I am a hard man to please; I prefer the finer things in life.  When one goes on holiday everything should work in their favor so that their time is spent care free and when one travels to Key West - Care Free is the idea.

Avalon I found by mistake almost a decade ago and have been coming back every since.  I was one of the first guests and this can be confirmed by looking in the old Guest Log Books and you can see I am third entry in the very first book.  Since ten years have passed the place has changed owners but the style and grace that the staff maintains has remained constant.

The facility is maintained in a spotless manner. Each room is cleaned to perfection every morning and one cannot mention morning without discussing the included Breakfast that is served for all the guests on the front porch.  Nothing like starting your day on the front porch looking out upon paradise and feeling the warmed Gulf Stream breezes slide across your face.  What is to note is that even though this place is clean to the point that Mr. Clean would eat off the floor they also permit animals to stay with you.

The Avalon is perfectly located on Duval Street.  A half block from the southern most beach in the United States and a few blocks down from the major activities on Duval. So you get to be close to everything but also far enough away so that when it is time to turn out your candle it is peaceful and quiet enough to sleep.

I should also note that the best room in the place is room 22.  Ahh! The memories!

    Have fun, enjoy!

The Avalon is a special little guesthouse on the quite end of Duval St. away from all the craziness, but just close enough as well. Our King room was beautifully kept with a nice, big comfy King Size bed, covered with an elegant white netting. We were very pleasantly surprised! The amenities in the room were of a higher quality, from the bath accessories to the bed linens. We were even provided plush Bath Robes. Sound was not an issue at the Avalon. We didn't hear any of the other guests during our stay. A big bonus for staying here is the wonderful breakfast provided on the front porch every morning. Coffee, Juice, Fresh Fruit, Yogurt, Cereal, Bread & Bagels for toasting along with all the spreads, Peanut Butter, Jam, and Cream Cheese. A nice and healthy way to start your day in Paradise! There is anything bad that I would say about the Avalon. I loved it and highly recommend it!

Great place in great location. Quiet end of Duvall street near beach. Rooms pretty, decent size and cozy. Front bedroom a little noisy near entrance. Breakfast on veranda nice but simple. Staff helpful. Would stay there again!

We found this through trip advisor.  A great find. We booked two rooms and both were very neat and clean.  The beds soft and comfy in the beautiful mosquito netting. The ac was a little week but it was fine.  It's located on the main street so you can walk down to the main areas but at night you can escape it as the inn is closer to the end.  The staff was charming.  Breakfast was a little light but it was my first bed and breakfast so didn't know what to expect.  Boiled eggs and ham and breads and bagels.   Lots of tea options.  Tea and coffee available at all times in the lobby.  A cute little splash pool.

Stayed for 3 days mid week a couple years ago but doubt it's changed too much (149$ for small room). We were thrilled. Huge bed, with beautiful white netting overtop. Room was immaculate throughout, smelled wonderful, with small bathroom but had great tiled shower with lovely bath products. Staff were extremely friendly.

Courtyard/pool was indeed small and we never used, but Southernmost house at end of Duval (1 block away) had tremendous $5 deal for use of pool, free drink, and waterfront sunbathing!

Breakfast at Avalon was on the huge veranda and was fresh, great coffee and full of wonderful ambiance. Highly recommend!!

This was our second visit in about 4 years.  Stay started on Wednesday and checked out on Saturday morning,  Rooms are small (ours didn't even have a closet).  but very clean and some what romantic.  The place is very well mmaintained and nice and quiet.  The location is great right on Duval ST a little out of the way but close enough to everything.  I would recommend this place to friends.  Breakfast was very good fruit, cereal boiled eggs, danish bagels, toast.

Perfect! Perfect! Loved the quaint vibe of this place. The location is great, it's on the quiet end of Duval. It can still be a bit noisy on the weekend, so maybe ask for a room that isn't in the front. The porch of the B&B is divine, spent many evenings playing cards and people watching. Pool is a splash pool, but still a nice afternoon refuge. All that PLUS free parking. Would definitely go back.

Location, location, location, they say. Avalon has it just right. It's on the quiet side if the best street in town and has cornered the market on cozy and charming.

Great bed, fun little splash pool for a cool off, great breakfast, lovely guest care at the desk.  Really a nice spot. The forgivable downfall was not the best water pressure in shower, but had such a romantic little stay that I'll give them 5 stars.

We recently stayed here for our honeymoon in Key West and I have no regrets. Our room was a queen and cozy. I really love the canopy of butterfly netting around our bed. It added a bit of romance to our romantic week.  Breakfast is served outside on the front porch. They provide a nice selection; a couple of cereals, yogurt, an assortment of breads and bagels, spreads for the breads, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, fresh fruit, orange juice, and coffee. Considering the prices of even casual restaurants in Key West, I say stock up on your breakfast items before heading out to explore.

The location is great. It is on Duval St and at the quieter end of it. It is only a block or so from the "Southern Most' Point attraction. If you are into butterflies, it is across the street from the Butterfly and Nature Conservatory. It is also not an unbearable walking distance to some of the off the beaten path restaurants. Higgs beach is just a short bicycle ride away.

If you are looking for for a quiet location, with very nice amenities, and super friendly service, I highly suggest Avalon for your trip to Key West. I would definitely stay here again.

We were here April 4-6 2014  had the honeymoon cottage. We got married on the beach in key west and they put rose petals on the bed, had fresh cold lemonade  and cookies on the table in the lobby every day. It includes a continental breakfast that's pretty basic. Plenty of fresh fruit and I noticed sausage gravy and biscuits the 2nd morning not sure if they were there 1st morning. I prefer eggs so we went out but my husband tried the gravy and said it was good. The staff extremely friendly. They will book your activities for you and it's the same cost  or cheaper and they give you free drink coupons for places. They also called a cab for me. The night we got married there was a wedding card in our door.  The pool was right outside of our cottage and there were some kids staying there and they were a little loud after doing the Duval crawl after our wedding.  And the pool was a little larger than an oversized bathtub

I was impressed with the Avalon before even stepping foot in my room.  The front porch was so quaint and inviting and the receptionist offered us such a warm and sincere welcome before directing us to a plate of the most delicious cookies.  The room was clean and comfortable.  I really liked that it was located at the quiet end of Duval street but is still within walking distance of all the action.  The atmosphere of the Avalon is one of quiet relaxation which was exactly what we were looking for.
