This is a fairly good hotel, with a reasonable price for Key West. The location is good, near to Duval Street, and long walking distance to Mallory Square at the opposite end of Duval. It is a two story building, surrounding the swimming pool. The rooms are large and quiet, although a little dated. The hotel has a nice heated swimming pool. The hot tub is good, but maybe due to heavy use, it has a dirty foam scum later in the day. The free breakfast is okay. We would stay here again.

My other half begs to differ, it should have only been a THREE stars rate.  Oh well, can't always agree on everything.  Best Western own up to the bed bugs problems.

Let's put it this way: I plan to book a room at this place for my next (so far imaginary, but I'll get there!) trip to Key West.

The wheelchair-accessible room was quite large - larger than I thought it would be, certainly.  I found it quite easy to navigate with my manual wheelchair.  The room contained two double beds - as opposed to the single, queen-sized bed found in many handicapped-accessible rooms.  This is a rare convenience for those of us who need wheelchair access but might not want to share our beds with our travel companions.

The bathroom was spacious as well; I can't recall whether the shower was a roll-in or had a tub, but I don't recall any problems with getting a shower bench or with the handheld shower attachment.

As for the location: It's a plus, I think.  The motel's close enough to the center of Old Town that one needn't drive anywhere.  Matter of fact, there's free hotel parking: Drive to KW from the mainland, park your car in the motel lot & leave it until you drive back.  Parking anywhere else on the island is...tough.

But as I was saying: The motel's close enough to the center of Old Town to walk there & back easily, but far enough away that Duval St. drunks won't be screaming outside one's window at 3:00 AM (unless you're one of the drunks).

And who could pass up a free continental breakfast?  Not me!

I was hesitant to book a room at this Best Western because it wasn't located as close to Duval Street as I'd wanted to stay.  But I went ahead and booked a room, because the reviews on hotels.com were decent (and much better than the Pegasus International Hotel on Duval, which was the only other centrally-located hotel with rooms available the weekend I was going to be in town).  I must say that I was very pleasantly surprised.

The room was spacious - much like your typical Best Western.  We had a room with 2 double beds, and there was plenty of room for us and all our stuff.  In fact, we easily could've fit a lot more people with stuff in the room.  The bathroom was surprisingly large, and there was a separate vanity outside.  Instead of the typical hotel curtains, they had plantation blinds, which gave it a very tropical, vacation feel.

The pool was great, with plenty of space around the deck, though not enough lounge chairs to go around.  And while our room looked out over the pool, the noise didn't carry into the room.  The free breakfast was just your usual continental-style breakfast, but it was definitely an added perk.

Duval Street was actually closer than I thought - only about 4 blocks till it really picked up.  And I had forgotten how small the island was, and before I knew it, we were at the end of the island watching the sunset.  The hotel wasn't by any means cheap, but for the location and convenience, it was worth it, especially since there don't seem to be any hotels in Key West that run less than about $200/night for the weekends.  Also, the Best Western lets you stay for only a single night, which many of the Duval St. hotels and bed and breakfasts don't allow.

I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to come to Key West for only a night, and who wanted to be away from the noise of Duval Street.  And Duval is close enough that you'd be there in a 5 minute walk.

Decent hotel, just off the south end of Duval Street about a mile from Mallory Square and about 1.2 miles from the Key West Express port. We visited Key West via the Key West Express ferry from Fort Myers Beach. Neither of us had ever been to Key West before, so we saw the ferry as an opportunity to check it out. And given that we were only here one night, the Best Western Hibiscus made the most sense.

Pros:
No minimum on the nights required in your stay. Truthfully, this was the primary reason that we booked this hotel. It was the cheapest hotel that had decent reviews, no minimum number of nights required, and was within walking distance from the Duval Street strip of bars and restaurants.

Pretty nice pool. Spacious enough for several people to be swimming and not be in each other's way. Plenty of lounge chairs to sit around and sunbathe. We did take a quick dip and noticed that the water was salt-based and not chlorine-based, which was a pleasant surprise. If we were in Key West longer, we probably would have spent more time at the pool.

Rooms were clean and nice enough. The TVs were perhaps a bit dated, but other than that, no complaints from me. The rooms were spacious, and bathrooms had a separate vanity area that made it easy for multiple people to get ready in the morning.

Cons:
Bit pricey for what it is. I didn't care to spend $240ish per night on a hotel that I would only give three stars. But again, we really had no other option.

We arrived about 30 minutes before check-in time. So shame on us for arriving early? But the woman behind the front desk had a little bit of a snippy attitude with us for no apparent reason. She had to call someone to ensure our room was inspected, and had us take a seat for a few minutes. I didn't mind waiting, but thought the attitude was a little unnecessary. I figured she must have been having a bad day. I'll give her a little credit because at one point I think I caught her forcing a smile. But the next day we returned to pick up our bags (more on this in a minute), and the same woman had the same snippy attitude. Trouble in paradise? I guess. The other staff members that we interacted with were nice, though.

I guess my biggest gripe with this hotel is that the woman checking us out made no mention of the Paradise Porters' pickup service. We could have paid a minimal fee instead of schlepping our bags across town in 90 degree heat to their office. Definitely a lesson learned for next time, but I really think this hotel dropped the ball by not offering us this service. Especially since, once we discovered what the Paradise Porters claim tickets looked like, we realized that the couple checking out in front of us was using the service!

Not necessarily the fault of the hotel... but some of the people hanging out near the pool were a little trashy. But I think the same could be found anywhere on the island. As an example, one woman lost her ring, and several of us were swimming around the pool obviously looking for something that was lost. Well finally one of the women decided to start asking every person at the pool if they had seen a ring or could help us look for it. Finally one person, who pretended not to notice that we were asking others about a missing ring, fessed up that he had found it and placed it on a table. Really, dude?

Was impressed with this "Motel" that felt like anything but. Our two rooms were huge and had laminated floors! Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. It was really nice to be able to enjoy the pool after a long day of sightseeing. The complimentary breakfast was also nice, good selection and the coffee was great!

Excellent service, rates and staff, but they have Facebook blocked on their wi-fi, what the hell Best Western? Update: wi-fi was spotty and sporadic the whole time we were there. Would not recommend.

This place is great for the price and location. Walking distance to duval street (kind of long to mallory square but drink and shop your way down and back and you probably won't even notice).

The rooms are very spacious and recently updated with tile floors along with a mini fridge and microwave. Could fit six people comfortably easy. Pool is also large and pretty nice. Cheapest place this close to Duval.

ONLY thing I didn't like is that my friends and I were here during spring break (which was fine, not alot of excessive noise or anything). All of us are 24 years old and up and the first thing that the front  desk lady did is tell me I had to get everyone out of the car and that she had to see everyone's ID's....ok....So i ask her why and her response was "Because it's Spring Break"...Not really the response I was looking for. I told her ok but also mentioned that my friends and I were not on spring break and had to take off WORK to be here...which really meant we were on VACATION. What if I had children with me? Would they have carded them too? Give me a break.

Funny thing is...we had been in the Keys for two days prior to this and it was the first time we got carded!!

For our purposes this place was great. We only stayed one night but I have zero complaints. Beds were nice and soft and the pool/hot tub are right in the middle and fairly large. You think Best Western and think "motel" but this one is quite nice. Great rates for Key West too. I'd stay there again for sure!

Fantastic place to stay in KW! Sometimes Best Westerns can be a hit or miss, but this one is legit. Rooms are big, modern, and clean. Pool is great and centers around the rooms for and excellent view! Continental breakfast helps to get your morning going. The location is prime, no need to cab-it or rent a scooter as the walk is not long at all. I stay here every time I come to KW and will continue to. No need to stay anywhere else in which you think is the cream of the crop (Hyatt, Marriott, etc.). This place is the best value anywhere I stay!!! (FYI - I have no professional association with Best Western, just a fan of the Hibiscus, so this post is the real deal)

This was the best Best Western we stayed at! Everything was great! The rooms did not feel like typical hotel rooms, they were clean and fresh, and the housekeeping was great! The room we received was a great size too! King size bed, but plenty of "living" space! The breakfast was awesome! So many choices :) The pool was ALWAYS clean, and pool towels were always available, 4 in your room and if you needed more, it was not a problem to call the front desk for more.  This hotel is within walking distance of a lot of attractions and scooter rentals.  We wound up renting a scooter 2 blocks from here which was very convenient.  Also, there was a great deal of onsite parking for your car which was great since we had a rental car the whole time we were down in Key West and used it maybe twice for things like getting beer at CVS down the street or going to For Zachary Taylor.  Thank you so much for a great experience here! We have already recommended this hotel to other guests, and friends looking for somewhere to stay in Key West :)

Almost hate to share our secret ... best place to stay in KW!  We've stayed everywhere in KW.  Other hotels, BnB's, the "big" resorts - condense them them all into one and you have the BW Hibiscus.  Clean, friendly, value = our KW "home"!

There is absolutely nothing motel-ish about this place! The first thing that hit me upon entering the room was the tile floor. WHAT??? No carpet??? Halle-FREAKING-lujah!!

We arrived in Key West in the middle of the night this last August and the camping site we were considering prior to our arrival was charging $60 to sleep on the dirt. For $30 more, we got a nice large room with two queen beds at this place with a nice large bathroom.

No bedbugs for us so that must've been the added bonus.  :)

The breakfast was plentiful and had a decent mix of fruit, starch, cereal, juice and hot beverages.

No complaints on our end.

The first night we didn't have hot water. The next day, the problem was taken care of. Thank you!
At checkout, we advised the lady at the counter that there was a major water leak in the bathroom. The water flowed out of the bathroom into the room. She asked us if we knew where it was coming from. I told her that I didn't. She looked at me as if "why not?"

The hotel was ok, the room was large and clean.  I was just really pissed about the price.  This place charges a five star resort price and then is just average.  The check in process was ok, the people up front not super friendly.  The hotel is within walking distance but not right on Duval street.  All the main bars and things on Duval are a good 10-15 minute walk but if you don't have mobility problems it isn't too bad.  The hotel is only a block or so from the southernmost point marker.  The parking is free at the hotel, but it better be for how much we paid.

Convenient location, nice pool.

However, far too expensive for essentially, a cheap motel. I get that you're in a prime vacation destination, but this place is not worth over 200 dollars a night!

I'll agree with several posters- the people at the front desk were very rude! Our friend's husband had to last minute bail on the trip for a work emergency, so instead of her having a room all to herself, we canceled her room, and said she could stay with us and the other couple we were traveling with (we had two queens.) We asked for a roll away bed if they had it (if not, we could go get a small air mattress). The lady freaked out and told us we couldn't throw any parties, and that if our friend's wife was even seen on the property, they would evict us and file trespassing charges.

WOAH.  I've stayed at much nicer places, and they'e been happy to accommodate with a rollaway if available, so I was surprised to see this reaction.

We had to leave our friend in exile, which complicated the whole weekend (and probably ruined it for her), and the staff came in and checked up on us several times. It was pretty insulting to be treated like rowdy no-good teenagers. We are all late 20s, early 30s,  married...just there for a labor day mini-vacation. And paying an arm and a leg for the stay!

Also, each night when we arrived home from dinner, there were a million ants crawling all over the bathroom. So disgusting!

$250 per night for Best Western? Yes, because it's Key West.

Pros: relatively low price, big room, nice pool, free parking and breakfast

Cons: very slow wifi, on and off; very small breakfast area, hard to find a place to sit down on a busy morning; the staff were not very attentive.

Room Tip: ask for rooms upstairs, the first floor can be noisy when many folks are around the pool.

Was very surprised and happy with our room. It was very spacious, clean and updated. The pool and patio were vert nice and relaxing. Breakfast was really good and offered many selections. Had a minor setback because our shower was not working, but we were able to see pass that because the overall experience was great!
