Stayed here in 2010 when we got married in Key West.  We were upgraded to an ocean view room.  The pool is wonderful....and you immediately forget you're next to the highway and airport.  I like being on the quiet side of the island, and it's only a 10 minute drive to the tourist section of the city.  It's a great place to make your base while driving through the Keys.   The hotel, while modest, is certainly clean and well run.  For the money....is likely the best value in Key West.

Not a great hotel to be hungover in!

I'm here on business and normally the company puts us up in the Doubletree or a Marriott property, but since it's Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend everything was sold out so we ended up here.

Yes, the staff was nice, but this is an older property with outdoor access to the rooms. Call me paranoid, but I HATE this! The pool is great as is their take on the tiki bar that is poolside. The rooms are dated, but clean. Also there is NO shuttle to go downtown, you are on your own with either the bus or a taxi. You have the usual polyester bedspread that immediately goes into the corner never to be touched by me again. Honestly though, my biggest gripe about this place is how noisy it is. The walls are paper thin and it is situated right on the corner of the airport and on the highway. I heard every aircraft arrival/departure as well as every vehicle drive by... distinctly. In fact, my first thought was that I left either the door or sliding glass door open! The good part is that there isn't too much air traffic in the evening hours, but come 6am it's game on. At about 9am I heard housekeeping knock...I thought it was my door, nope. Several doors down, that's how poorly this place is insulated against sound.

Great staff, clean rooms ! If you don't mind being away from town, it's great.

We stayed here with my husbands parents for the New Year holiday as it was our Christmas gift! At first I was apprehensive about staying at a Best Western hotel. It looks kind of run down from the outside, but it really has great qualities.

Since we were sharing a room with another couple, we were unpleasantly surprised to find that our original room only had a king bed with a sleep sofa pull out bed. The front desk staff promptly corrected this matter and provided us with a spacious room with two queen beds. The decor wasn't as nice, but at least we had a comfy bed to sleep on. I was VERY impressed with the staff there and their willingness to provide us with a different room.

The beds were SO comfy, well at least our bed was. The parent's bed was kind of squeeky, but they didn't complain.

We even had our own private screened in patio! It was great for laying out clothes to dry and getting a fresh breeze in the room.

The pool is the best part of the property. You have the feeling that you are in a 4 star hotel resort, complete with pool bar. I wasn't expecting such a lovely pool area from a Best Western property. I really enjoyed it.

The ocean is right across the street and Smathers beach is just a short walk away.

The best way to get around town though is by scooter, so leave your car at the hotel and rent a scooter in town.

One downside is that the airport is RIGHT next door. It is loud, but there are no overnight flights. This really didn't bother me too much.

Another downside is the price of the rooms. I felt that the rooms were overpriced, by a lot! However, you're at the mercy of the island where everything is overpriced.

We would stay here again if we couldn't get a better price elsewhere.

Pros: clean rooms, staff is awesome - very friendly and caring. We were with an infant and requested food heating. Within minutes we had a person deliver a microwave to our room. The pool area is nice and the tiki bar hut seemed cool.
Cons: next to the airport so quite some day noise. It's super quiet between 10pm and 8am. The facility is old and not close to anything. Need to drive to go anywhere. The tiki bar server was very unfriendly :( - only person on the property that was not friendly.

Overall a good run for the money. Stay here if you have kids and want to stay away from the action town.

This was one of the more reasonably priced, pet friendly hotels in Key West.  The rooms are your standard motel-type room - really nothing impressive.  The hotel pool area is very nice though.  They have a tiki-bar next to the pool that serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and they also serve food, which is nice too if you want to lounge at the pool and have a snack or meal, but with all the awesome restaurants in Key West, why would you want to stay and eat the hotel food?.  If you're looking to save some money on food, though, they offer a free continental breakfast in the morning from 7-10.  The hotel overlooks the water which is also very nice, and the staff was helpful.

There were quite a few things about this hotel that I found to be not-so-appealing.  First, the hotel itself is right next to the airport, and the airport runway sends planes DIRECTLY above the hotel... so you have to get used to the rumble from the bigger jet planes when they go by.  Honestly, I jumped a little bit the first time one passed us.  The hotel is on the southeastern side of the island, so you're quite a ways from all of the stuff for which you come to Key West: Duval Street, the food, the history... You're pretty much away from it all.  It's a short cab ride to get there, but it's kind of disappointing that the hotel doesn't offer a shuttle into downtown like some of the other hotels on the island.

You aren't really within walking distance to anything at the hotel, so you should be prepared to drive (or bike) for pretty much everything.  If you're looking to go to Key West to lounge around a pool all day, this might be the hotel for you.  However, because of the hotel's location on the island, I will be less-than-inclined to stay here in the future.

Pretty decent for a Best Western. The pool felt great and I made friends with the bartender by the pool. Even sat in the waterfall at the pool. I hate crowds, so I don't mind being away from the happening spots. Not too many planes overheard, and the airport closes down at 11pm. We came during bike week (unbeknownst to us), and we're ecstatic to avoid the crowds, bikes, and stupid people not paying attention.

Room was clean and fresh. Continental breakfast and pool were nice. You DO hear airplane noise during the day, not at night. We only slept there, because we were exploring the island on vacation. It was worth it.

Pros: Great pool and bar, free wi-fi, clean rooms, and nice view of the ocean.
Cons: It's on the northeast corner of the island so I'd say it's about a 10-15 minute drive from the center of town and 15-minute walk away from the beach. So if you don't have a rental car, plan on using public transportation, cabs or bikes to get downtown. The rooms are a little out of date and it's right next to the airport, but thankfully there are no overnight flights in/out of Key West.

Pros: clean, nice pool, easy to get to, free continental breakfast which is well stocked but nothing special.
Cons: far away from everything else in KW, true motel feel which is why I feel it is overpriced.

I haven't felt that cheated for the quality of a hotel in quite some time.  The two things I expect when I pay over $200 a night are cleanliness and updated decor.  This place had nothing close to either.  There was hair and toothpaste on the vanity, a room key left from a previous guest, the desk chair was stained and filthy, multiple towels had hair left in them, and calling that a "harbor view" was more than generous.  It wouldn't have been one at all if I was given the room on the 1st floor which I asked to have changed.  This place is a joke, pay a little more and stay somewhere else like the Sheraton or Courtyard.  It is completely opposite of all of the great stuff at Duval.  No reason this place should be over $100 a night.  Dump!

This place would hv scored much higher if i didnt find tiny ants EVERYWHERE. It literally skeeved me out. I was scared they were crawling into my bags and id be bringing them home. The other thing that was negative was the coffee maker was broken when we arrived but they did respond quickly on my complaint and they replaced it. The other screwed up thing was when their lawn care company broke the hotels wAter main and i cudnt shpwer or brush my teeth until 4 in the afternoon.  That really pissed me off.  I could deal with everythg except the bugs and thats  such a shame because this hotel has a gorgeous view of the ocean, a huge pool w 2 waterfalls, the best tiki bar iv seen anywhere, a wonderful breakfast with seating indoor and outdoors. Our room was huge with a big flat screen TV , couch w sitting area, microwave, frig, coffee maker and a gorgeous view of the ocean.  This hotel is on the quiet side of key west and its situated on a huge lush tropical property with a stream running through which was awesome. Its also close to the airport and yes you hear the planes fly over. All in all i loved this hotel .  Id recommend it if bugs dont bother you.  Hey you could bring bugspray .  I would return if they could promise me they  had this situation taken care of.

We were impressed when we first walked in to the room with how large the room was. We had a room with 2 queen beds. Check in was easy and the front desk was helpful and accommodating. We decided to stay an extra day and luckily, they were able to make it work. The room was clean with a microwave and a small fridge. The breakfast was great! There were waffles, egg sandwiches, cereal, juice, muffins, fruit, etc. there is an indoor and outdoor seating area (if you sit outside, you will be bit by bugs!). The location was great and it was easy to get everywhere on the island. It took about 10 minutes to get to Duval Street. The only problem that we had was the airplane noise. Its not an extremely busy airport but when they do come in or take off, you will hear it!  If you plan on getting up early, then it won't bother you. We only heard it a few times and it didn't wake our kids up...but it was loud. Even with the airport nearby, I would highly recommend this hotel. It was very comfortable (bed, linens, etc.) and well maintained. If you want any suggestions on what to do, let me know! We found a few great places! You won't regret staying here!

Clean.  Friendly.  Great pool.

For what this hotel is, it deserves 4 stars.  It's a mid-level extremely clean, friendly staffed, modern hotel.  It's not a Le Meridien and doesn't pretend to be.  But it's as clean a hotel as any and the pool is large and lovely.  And the pics I am seeing on here are quite old - the rooms have been modernized and are far more stylish than the beach motiff pics suggest.

It's about a mile off the busy downtown area of Key West - we specifically chose this.  A quick scooter ride of maybe 7 or 8 minutes puts your right in the heart of Duval Street.  The hotel will get you scooters so that's convenient - about $65 (2 seater) for 24 hours.

I would definitely stay here again - it's clean, easy and quiet.  Oh, and the free breakfast area is nice - fruits, breads, cereals, coffee/tea- great add on.

I nearly forgot - the birds (some sort of crane I guess) are a wonderful bonus!  They will sit their long legs in the chairs next to you and ask for fries! =)

Not the place to stay if you're wanting to be in town. The rooms are basic, musty and not impressive. The grounds are well-manicured and the pool is nice. Taxis are about $4.50 a person and the bus isn't reliable to and from Duval Street. If you stay here, make sure to have a car handy. The beach is about a mile walk from the hotel.

Great hotel rooms are clean the swimming pool is wonderful. The breakfast is delicious. You can go to the old town by bus it pick up you just in the front of the hotel. The big problem it's close to the airport and it's very noisy but during the night no problem

Neat rooms and bathrooms. The staff are friendly.

The complimentary breakfast is good and well stocked.

The pool area is pretty good, the Tiki bar serves some good drinks.

Its walkable distance from the airport. I had never walked to an airport from a hotel till date which was cool.

I did not really mind the noise from flights - infact enjoyed watching the them fly really close.

The fact that it is on the other end of the island does make it far away from the happening places but I did see buses which go to the Duval Street (not sure about the timings and ticket prices) and trolleys (the tour tickets are valid for 48 hours) stop by right in front of the lobby. Some of the water sport companies do pick you up for your activities.

The only problem we had was that the wi-fi was not working on our laptops though it worked with our phones.

Nice hotel to stay however we paid $269 per night in last week of December in harbor view room that had not so great view. I was charged premium for that but I got almost nothing. First of all the Harbor is far, and I got a first floor room with all the plants blocking the view.
Room maintenance is good, however office has a guy who seems rude/ attitude. There is no general happy hospitality.
Complimentary breakfast was ok.

We stayed here January 10 & 11, 2015.  The front desk staff were very personable and friendly and pointed out some places to go.  The continental breakfast provided offers a wide selection from waffles and pastries to hard-boiled eggs and breakfast cereals along with coffee and juices.  The only negative thing about the entire experience was the room.  It smelled musty when we checked in and didn't improve.  The humidity in the room was terrible, even with the air conditioner at 72 degrees.  Nothing wanted to dry, pool towels or bathing suits.  The room was very dark even with every light turned on.  The shower curtain was torn and the bar sagged so the curtain wouldn't stay closed very well.  The hotel shows its age.  The vanity was new but the shower/toilet room needed some attention. I saw one bug when we were packing to leave and found another in our suitcase when we got home.  I hope there aren't more.  If you're only looking for a place to crash for the night, this would work.  If you're looking for something with a little more polish, this is not the place.

Hotel about a block away from the water, check.  Tiki Bar on premises with a Happy Hour, check.  Close to the airport to catch an early morning flight, check again.

For our most recent stay in Key West, the wife and I stayed here for 3 nights.   We had a King Size bedroom  with a large sofa which included a chaise lounge.  It is maybe a 10 to 15 minute cab ride to Duval Street but we really didn't mind since we had purchased the Old Town Trolley tickets for 2 days (it stops right at the hotel).  The Tiki Bar which was named the Cheekie Bar also served lunch/snacks until the kitchen closed at 5:30.  The bar closes a little early, 7 pm but I guess that is because everyone heads down to Duval Street.

I was very impressed with the upkeep of the hotel.  They were even re-painting stairwells and other buildings while we were there which shows they are pro-active in upkeep.

The staff is very friendly and will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.  They even offered a couple of pointers about how to get around and suggestions for take out the one night we stayed in after a long day of sight seeing.

Prices for this hotel are a lot more reasonable than staying Downtown.  The only downside that I can see was that it is close to the airport and you do have an occasional plane flying overhead.  But they are mainly regional jets and it is not all that bad.  We would definitely stay there again on our next trip to Key West.

We stayed here for 4 days. Extremely well manicured landscaping. Located right across the street from the ocean. Very clean rooms that were very nicely decorated and with air conditioning. Continental breakfast had a huge selection. All personnel were very friendly. Rooms had microwave, blow dryer, 1 cup coffee maker, flat screen tv, sofa area, refrigerator, safe, comfortable king sized bed, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, well maintained pool with poolside tiki bar, public bus service and tourists trolley, internet access, free wifi. House keeping cleaned our room daily. This location was great because it was far enough from Deval Street and all the loud drunks but close enough to drive to (5-10 minutes drive) or a $15-20 taxi ride. Smathers beach is a 20 minute walk from hotel. I would stay here again for sure. I only had one complaint: the door to the room had a large gap around the door. It needed to have a weather seal around it for a tighter fit.

As ironic as it sounds, It's hard to find any waterfront or oceanfront lodging in Key West.  Well, at least any that is affordable AND on the open ocean (not just a canal or something).  Mom and I were a bit hesitant to stay at a Best Western (we're Hilton snobs, don't hate!) but this one definitely impressed us.  We stayed December 7-10, and thhe check-in was simple and the clerk was friendly. There's free WiFi, a large pool with a poolside bar, and tons of parking on this property.

We got a rate of $190/night for an oceanfront room with two queen beds and a large balcony overlooking the water. Our room was very well updated and it was huge for a double room!  The decor and beds are relatively new and it was super clean. Roosevelt is between the property & ocean, but there was very little traffic when we were there.  They offer continental breakfast from 7-10 with juice/coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and your basic waffles, cereal, and pastries. The server, Steve, was delightful to talk to each day!

This Best Western definitely changed our opinions of BW hotels... I'd come back here again if the price was right :)
