If you have any standards at all, don't stay here.

The photos on the website are very deceiving.

Unless you own a timeshare apartment here, you'll be stuck into a teeny-tiny room with no natural light and a heavy scent of cleaning chemicals. It's like staying at a Motel 6 by the highway, but for about 10x the price!

The "studio" rooms they rent out to non-timeshare-ers are basically the butt end of someone's timeshare apartment, separated by a thin wall, meaning that you can hear *every* thing that goes on in the timeshare apartment next to your room.

Bottom line is that this place is grim and overpriced. Had the room been cheap, I could forgive the crappy room and lame customer service. But the prices charged for what you get are pretty much unconscionable. Shame on you, Hyatt.

Worst of all, the staff will try to sell you timeshare.

We rented a time share here and loved it. No problems.  Everything was clean, they supplied mini shampoo/conditioner/soaps/lotion on site, maid service when needed, and fresh brewed Starbucks coffee in their lobby every morning. We had cable TV, full sized fridge, stove top, microwave, sink, and super comfortable sofa and mattress. Great balcony overlooking where the cruise ships dock (really cool to watch them come in and dock at 8am) with Mallory square just off to the right (within walking distance!) and restaurants and shops starting really close by. We parked in the parking garage directly next door which we had to pay for (I don't remember if its owned by the Hyatt or someplace else, but it was easy, and we pre-paid for parking in the lobby and they supplied a parking decal). It has an elevators and stairs for access. We walked every where in Key West for our entire stay. The only thing you might notice is that there is weak water pressure from the shower, but that is a given considering it is an old historic building. The front desk lady was sooooo helpful and nice, and the other woman there too was super helpful in helping us  book our waverunner tour and boat tour to the dry tortugas. WE WILL RETURN! :)

I stayed here on a business trip. The hotel rate during April was close to $300/night. I can say that the location was definitely prime. Duval Street and attractions were within walking distance. However, that was the only upside to the stay.

When I got up to the room, it was VERY SMALL. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in some time. There was black mold in it. I'm asthmatic and had to use my inhaler the entire time during my stay in the room. The toilet clogged and over flowed. I placed towels on the floor and called the front desk to to send a maid up to the room. The maid came up while I was out and did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. The only thing different, was the fact that the towels had been pushed around to clean the water. That is DISGUSTING and UNSANITARY. Lastly, there is a parking garage. They gave me a parking card to use for coming and going. Not only was the parking an outrageous price, but the parking card didn't work and I had to chase down the valet guys to open the gate so I could get my car out. They do not have any type of lounge or breakfast accomidations. I will NEVER be staying here again. Disgusting and overpriced.

SCAM ALERT there is a guy going by the name Casey with Diamond Resort Properties that is trying to sell entitlement agreements for this property but he is not authorized. His website 12345booking.com and phone number he uses 909-359-BOOK  are both to him. He told me the only way to book would be to use a vanilla reload card and that I would have my confirmation that evening or the next day. After not hearing from him in almost a week he ignored my calls and text messages. In order for him to even respond to me I had to call him multiple times, which is when he told me I need to be patient. I I now have two investigators who are pursuing him for fraud. Do not send this guy any money period. Here is a link to more negative reviews tugbbs.com/forums/showth…

Very unhappy with my stay here.  I paid $270 per night.

I was in room 111A which is a studio room that backs up to a stairwell (that the service staff run up and down) as well as the entrance to where the service staff congregate VERY early every morning. It's loud. Soooo loud.

I had placed the do not disturb on my door and had a man knock and say "housekeeping"looked through the peephole and answered "no thank you".  He then said, "your bathroom is very dirty and i need to clean it". As a female staying here alone, I was more than creeped out. First. I had do not disturb on my door and then this? I told the front desk, as I was hesitant to believe this man even worked there. They had no good answer for me....

Tip- if staying here, make sure you don't stay in a studio!

I was really pleased with our stay at the Hyatt Sunset Harbor. We are not timeshare members, for starters, so I cannot compare this to any other properties.

The location of this hotel is fantastic; just steps away from Mallory Square, yet offset enough to be tucked away from the hustle and bustle of it all. The hotel is located directly next to the Harry S. Truman Little White House.

We stayed in one of the "studio" rooms on the 3rd floor. Our room featured a tiny kitchenette and a stand up shower with a separate jacuzzi tub. The decor was very Key West- a bit dated, but not nearly as tacky as some of the competing properties I have seen. We had a ceiling fan in our room, which was a big plus (especially for drowning out noise- more on that in a minute). Our room was clean and reasonably spacious .The bed was sufficient- not the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, but far from the worst.

The grounds of the hotel were beautiful, and we were especially impressed by the pool area- we were expecting a tiny little postage stamp pool, but in reality it was quite large, with a nice little fountain, pretty landscaping, and plenty of lounge chairs. When you stay here, you also have access to all of the amenities at the full service Hyatt (i.e. the 24 hour fitness center, the spa, etc.), but we did not take advantage of this perk during our stay.

Here are some things that are preventing me from awarding a 5th star:
-While our first night was nice and quiet, the second night was a different story. We had "neighbors" move in to the adjoining unit next door to us, and it sounded like they were IN our bedroom having a loud conversation. The ceiling fan helped a little in drowning out the noise, but it was still pretty bad. Thankfully they went to bed early...
-Housekeeping came banging on our door at 8:00 AM on the morning we were to check out...we had until 10:00 AM to be out of there (and they don't mess around- they claim that they will charge you $10 for every additional thirty minutes after that time). I yelled "STILL IN HERE" about three times, but she kept on a-bangin' on our door. Grr.
-Some of the employees are unfriendly. I encountered two members of housekeeping in the halls who did not smile/respond when I greeted them in passing.
-Be aware that depending on who you are traveling with, the  "studio" room might be problematic when it comes time to take a shower. The bathroom area has no door (save for the toilet, which is in it's own little room)! In other words, the shower, which has a glass door, is exposed. It's positioned in such a way that you can't see it if you solemnly promise to remain on the bed, however.

All in all, however, very pleased with this stay. The location cannot be beat, and the room had everything we needed. We will definitely return.
