Established in 1939.

A former estate property, the original Robert Maloney home on the property was constructed in 1854.  The Maloney House is one of the oldest buildings in Key West and it is included in the National Historic Register. In 1939, Joe Zorski, a retired high-wire circus performer, bought the property and named it Cactus Terrace Motor Court, which he owned until 1992 when a new owner named it Key Lime Village. We bought the hotel in 1998 and an award-winning renovation was completed on all the buildings in 1999. Other structures within the complex, added at later dates, include the Reception building, several guest cottages, and the pool area. The rooms were given a fresh decor and upgraded amenities in 2013.

All the hotel rooms offer a quiet retreat from the energy of Duval Street while keeping you near all of the action.

The grounds and the set up is nice however let me start with our initial impression when we turned the key to our room.  First- who uses wall to wall carpet (not even pretty or of quality- just plain old run down in a beach town with sand everywhere and wet feet?  That was a major turn off.  The room is quite sparse with barely any furnishings other than a bed.  The decor is in quite a need of an update!  No hooks to hang anything up either inside or out such as wet towels perhaps?  The a/c functioned well, the shower was roomy although nowhere to even hang your wash cloth.  Lack of storage, ugly and dated decor and the CARPETING would prevent me from booking here.  Also, it was a little far off the beaten path which is good and bad both at the same time.

Usually hesitate to give anything 5 stars only b/c it's hard to be perfect but in this case I couldn't recall any reason to think otherwise considering my stay at the Key Lime Inn for a week. I chose the "Deluxe King" room that included a King bed, private patio, and large LCD TV. Some of the other reviewers complain of a small patio, cheap beds, and cramped room but I'm not sure what more they expect in Key West. This is an island with small parcels of expensive real estate and personally I thought the Key Lime Inn was more than other properties offered in a similar price range. I have a high-quality bed here at home and the bed in my room at the Key Lime Inn was hardly inferior. The patio was small, probably around 120 sf (10'x12'), but why criticize the Inn for this? This is an added amenity, this is nothing typical. Although small, I consider it quite cozy, and a nice break and retreat from the loud, hectic atmosphere of Duval St. As for the location, this was one of the deciding factors in choosing this Inn, it is located in the center of Key West and provides easy walking to either sides of the island and attractions. My truck didn't move all week. On-site parking is another huge plus that makes this Inn stand out among most others. They have a secure lot that provides parking for residents only. They also provide a buffet style breakfast each morning, a pool, and provide free passes to local attractions for each consecutive night you reserve. For staying 6 nights, I got the 7th night free and also received two free passes to each the Hemingway House and Mel Fishers Museum (other choices available)..... With all that said, how can 5 stars not be given. Would highly recommend.

Visited in March 2011. Staff was warm and helpful.  Room was clean and comfortable. An excellent place to stay while experiencing the mystique of Key West. Rooms were quiet and away from the crowds of Duvall Street. No need for an alarm clock. The roosters wake you if you want; but ear plugs provided for those who want to sleep in.

Stayed here in Feb. Of  2010, and I loved it. It's a cozy, quiet  little place which offers a nice  simple self serve continental breakfast as well as walking distance to all the fun places on Duval Street, and restaurants. The rooms are small little bungalows, so if your looking for large lush rooms, this is not the place for you. It is a very simple place. The Pool looked great, although I did not use it, but it was definitely being used. Sun bathers and loungers. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the only negative thing I can write about this place is the small parking lot on the property. You can park on the street though.

First the positive: We were happy with the grounds, the pool was great, the staff was friendly and it's a great location, only a 10 minute walk at most to Duval street.

The negative: We were dissapointed with our room, it was more like a motel room. It was cramped and lacked decor to go with the cheesy key lime colored walls. The bathroom was small and there were little tiny aunts all over the tile floor, the hinges were also rusted on the door and the doorframes were a little wrotted and falling apart. The bed was really uncomfortable. There were a few times when I sat down and knocked something off of the opposite side of the bed because the matress was so bouncy. The sheets were not high quality either.
The key lime inn was cheaper for us on the weekend, but we moved to the eden house where we paid for the rest of our stay and we were very happy there!
We will probably not go back to the key lime inn, the pictures online were decieving, but maybe the more expensive rooms are nice.

The room matched the pictures for Standard Rooms on their website exactly. They are small, but perfect for a weekend stay. The front desk offered a warm reception and they were patient with our tourist inquiries regarding location, hot spots, etc. The grounds are well maintained and offer an intimate setting that you wouldn't expect for a hotel so close to the entertainment district. This isn't your typical hotel chain, and the rates are excellent for the area.

This place was a find by my wife that I definitely thanked her for.
The lay out is cool, the staff is nice, the pool was comfy, and the room was a surprise.
It's located a couple of blocks of Duval which makes it mellow enough to relax, yet close enough to stumble home after a night sampling the local flavor.
We went in October, with is apparently the slow season, but that just made the place all our own.
Next time we go to key West, we are staying here again.
It felt safe yet out of the way, and close without being too close.

Handy location, but in our case they failed to tell us that the adjacent room was being refloored during our stay.  The noise was unbearable.  We received the obligatory "sorry".  But for what we paid for the room, I believe we were owed some courtesy and a more profound acknowledgement of the poor planning on their part.  And some type of recompense.

Great place, the rooms are clean, near the hot spots and the pool is great, open till 10pm. Great for a night swim after drinks and dinner.

What. a. cute. place! We found it online in the morning, laying in bed during a spur of the moment key west planning trip.
We got the King suite for 250.00 (it was easter weekend). each room had a balcony, and other rooms seem to be small little cottages. There are mulch paths to and from the pools, the office, and other building on the properties. There is also a Hammock waiting for you hung between 2 palm trees tucked in the back.
This place was such a nice surprise! We will totally be back.

Interesting process in the booking.  They desk was instructed not to book anything less than 4 nights over New Years.  Only problem was I had flights to catch and couldn't be there for 4 nights and they were unaccommodating.

Person behind the desk said the "possibly" i could get my three days through the website and it worked.  Just weird that the person working there couldn't book my reservation.

After that they were extremely accommodating.  They didn't book the correct type of room but then called me to make sure I was set up the way I intended, with two double beds.

Layout is nice.  A very short walk to Duval Street and the walk up lets you soak in all the flavor.

Room was snug but clean, but you are in Key West!  Get out and explore!

This is a wonderful place! The rooms are little cottages along several mulch paths. The pools is located right off the main lobby where they serve free continental breakfast. they have a nice amount of tables so you never have to worry about not being able to enjoy breakfast pool side. The entire location including the rooms are clean and quite. This is a great place if you don't have kids as they don't have but about 60 rooms on the property and it seemed to be a mostly adult crowd.
This homely little place has FREE parking on their property which is great because parking is hard to come by in Key West. The location is great also, just a few short blocks off of Duval and not far from Hemingway's house either. You can really walk anywhere from here.
We plan on returning for our 1 year anniversary for our wedding since this is where we got engaged!

This was my second time here and unfortunately it was not as great as my first stay.

It was also way more expensive this year than last year at the same exact time..

I called a couple of days before I checked in because the internet ONLY works next to the rooms closest to the front desk.  I had very important work that needed to be done while on my vacation.

- Side note - How do you run a hotel and not have internet for all your guest? you know this is a problem... FIX IT !!!

The lady at the front desk was kind of rude when I was checking in. (I think her name was Annett. She was swedish or some thing to that effect. )   When I previously called I was told they were going to give me room 33. I was very happy because this room is near the front desk.  Well Annett told me that I was in room 22.  ( FAR away from the front desk)   I told her my situation and in a not so nice manner   she replied "i'll see what i can do..."  She huffed and Puffed... and looked and sounded so annoyed that i was unhappy with the room that she wanted to give me.    Not my problem lady.. fix your internet or communicate with the people you work with....

the next morning some one was having a 30 min conversation outside of my window at 5 in the morning!!! seriously... people are trying to sleep!!!

Then again at 7 am people were rolling their luggage and because the floor is made of wood planks it was so loud and woke me up again..... CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK.........

Last but not least... the outside floor is wood chips... it's so hard to drag your suite case across this crap... sure it looks cute but not really working for me when  load and unload my stuff. Just like the parking lot all the tinny rocks... hard to load and unload my stuff!!!  They do have wheelbarrow type things to help but its just a hassle..

What you need to know:

(1) Rooms - I got the upgraded Queen room (#19) and it was uber-clean, roomy, and everything you'd expect for a mid-ranged price of room (roughly $200/night);

(2) Staff - Every encounter with the staff was fantastic as they are helpful and friendly;

(3) Grounds - The smallish property looks as if it has been renovated within the past couple years and everything is accessible to the main office and pool...the drawback has been mentioned in previous reviews (essentially no pavement between bungalows makes it hard to transport luggage);

(4) Amenities - The pool is smallish but well maintained, the breakfast area is nice (by the pool) and efficient, but that is really about it...I wouldn't imagine spending too much time around the pool but it would do for an hour or so;

(5) Location - It is situated in the bottom third of the island away from the tourist craziness near the docks, very close to the cemetery, only two short blocks walk west to Duval street, and only about a 10 minute walk to the Southernmost Hotel Group's properties.

Bottom line...I will stay at Key Lime again in a heartbeat provided that my stay is less than three full days.  If three or more I may want to look at a bigger hotel with more pool amenities, e.g., bar and larger area.

Rates were lower than most other places we investigated so figured we'd give it a try. Happy we did.

Rooms were small but clean, the bungalow-type set up was charming and the desk staff were always friendly and helpful. Our room was right off the pool, which I was worried might pose a problem, but it was always very quiet. That might be due to who else was staying there at the time, so you might want to ask for something in the back.

Location was perfect. Easy walk or bike ride to anywhere and just a little bit off the strip so a bit quiet without making you feel like you were out of the loop!

We could not be happier with our stay at the Key Lime Inn!  The rooms are spotless, and a good size.  We booked the upgraded queen room, and when we got there we were given a free upgrade to the King room.  The buildings are old, but renovated and have everything you need: coffee maker, refrigerator, etc.

The staff is very welcoming, they make you feel right at home.  The concierge was great and helped us book lots of activities throughout the island.  The cleaning staff was friendly and always around if you needed extra towels or anything else.

The pool was fantastic, not too crowded, perfect temperature and very relaxing.  The free breakfast went on for two hours and was a great way to start the day.

The location is good, not great if you want to be on Duval.  Its about a five minute walk to the beginning of Duval street, and maybe a 15 minute walk to Mallory Square.  It is super quiet though at night, which is nice.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone- people on a budget and people looking for a luxury hotel.  It truly is a great find, and I will never stay anywhere else when I return to the Keys!

Stayed at the Key Lime Inn in Key West in May.  The facility is centrally located to
everything.  It is clean and comfortable.
The best part was the extremely, helpful and courteous staff who will help with everything and anything.  The reception staff is willing to help with recommendations for sightseeing as well as recommendations and reservations for dinners.   The housekeeping staff was magnificent in helping with a major problem with an airline caused damage to baggage and clothing.

I give 2 star to the friendly stuffs at the reception. The room is clean, tiny, bungalow style.

1. Our room is 28, no Wifi. If I want use Internet must sit outside.or Beside the pool or nearby reception .
2. Such hot place ,no Refrigerator.
3. When we arrived, no Parking place.
4. The guests used Loud Speaker played music beside the pool until 3Am, no stuff stop them. I went out asking them please switched off.
5. We went out at 10am, we came back to inn at 3pm, nobody clean our room and we didn't have " no disturb " outside
6. The last whole day no Internet even beside the pool or reception.the stuff said" Yes, internet has problem but because it isSunday , nobody could come fixing it.

Cute, quaint and cozy. The bungalow look gives it a very "Key West vacation" feel while still being steps away from the hustle and bustle (and bars) of Duval Street. The room was nice and clean and the staff were very friendly.

I would have given it 5 stars if the bathrooms were renovated a bit. It wasn't bad, just looked older than the room. I would've also liked a full length mirror somewhere. (Or at least another mirror in general.) There was more than enough wall space. It was difficult for two people to get ready at the same time since the bathroom was so small. My better half also complained that the bed was too hard, but I found it just right. But that's just a matter of preference.

The Moped Hospital for rentals is right around the corner so that was a perk. As well as Better Than Sex dessert restaurant, which I both highly recommend.

This place was just great. We had a cozy room facing the pool, the staff was absolutely amazing and just friendly overall, and the location was unbeatable. Close, but just far away enough from the chaos. We chose this place because it has parking, making it even more convenient. It was clean and felt old fashioned but not outdated. Exactly what we were looking for and I highly recommend.

They supposedly had breakfast (unsure if it was continental), but we didn't wake up in time to check it out.

My husband and I stayed there for his 30th birthday. We were disappointed with our room. I thought it was going to be more of a bed and breakfast type of place but we were literally in a shed in the parking lot. It was so odd, I've never experienced anything like it. We paid well over $200 for the "room" and it really wasn't that nice or high end. The shower was insanely small and the sink wasn't even in the bathroom - it was outside of the bathroom.

The hotel wasn't in a central location and we had to do a lot of walking. My husband and I agreed that if we ever come back to Key West we will not stay there again and would prefer to stay somewhere closer to the action.

The hotel did have nice customer service and the breakfast was nice. They had cereal, yogurt, Danish and fruit.  Overall, I think there are probably much nicer places to stay for the same amount we paid.

Im writing this review from their pool deck right now. Rooms very clean and nice. Service is excellent . The only issue is there is not internet in the rooms only in  a small office and pool area. but they said that will change by next week. I would come back here again.

The Key Lime Inn is one of many boutique hotels in Key West but what makes it stand out is the service. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. Melissa specifically provided tips on where to go to have a good meal and to have drinks. The hotel itself is off Truman Ave (U.S. 1) which makes it easy to find. Duval street and other Key West attractions are within walking distance. The hotel provides free parking, wifi, a heated pool, and breakfast. The hotel grounds are attractive, the rooms are updated and modern. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Overall great experience and will definitely stay here again.

Surgically clean place.
Great pool with comfortable pool furniture.
Rooms are very clean and modern. Caution as your early morning alarm clock could be a rooster right outside your door.
Last time here, there was a fine continental breakfast and coffee, tea and tropical juices.

Location is on a busier street than I'd like and there is a little bit of a walk to Duval Street and subsequently to Mallory Square. None of thus should dissuade you from staying here. The rooms are plenty far from the road and the pool is in a private part of the property.

Reasonable pricing makes for a fine facility.
