I spent three pleasant nights here.  The location is fabulous since it is only a block off Duval Street.   There are numerous buildings with guest rooms all connected by paths, decks, and courtyards, all leading to a pool area. A simple Continental breakfast is included as is free wi-fi. It was a comfortable and relaxing spot to explore Key West from although not inexpensive. Parking is limited so once the car was parked, we pretty much left it and walked, walked, walked.

First, don't mistake my 4-stars with Fodors or AAA.  This is a nice inn, but if your'e looking for fancy (translated, high end), it's not for you.  That said, the wife and I had an opportunity to spend the weekend on Key West and this suited us well.  Our room was an upgraded queen and, while small, came with a mini fridge.  The best feature was a private verandah.  We were just off Whitehead St. across from the Hemingway House.  While bustling in the daytime, it was plenty quiet as the evening progressed.  The verandah had 2 chairs and a table.  On our first evening, a thunderstorm passed through around 11:30pm.  We had just got in, so I went to the aforementioned mini-fridge and opened a beer for each of us.  We sat on the porch drinking beers until about 12:30am, very relaxing.
The pool is small but adequate.  Andy, the bartender, makes a very nice bloody Mary to bring you to life.  Our night manager, and I am sorry I can't remember his name, was very friendly and gave us a few tips that came in handy.
The location is excellent.  Close enough to the Duval St. madness without being in it.  The wife and I prefer B&Bs and inns with character.  We'd certainly stay here again.

Enjoyed our stay at the Lighthouse Court in August 2011. The breakfast was basic, but that was fine. The courtyard and foilage is lush and tropical. The pool and bar area was in the center courtyard and a nice place to hang out. Our room A-1 was a bit small, however the high ceilings helped give it a larger feel. The bath had a nice sized shower. The room did have a musty odor and I hope management will address that issue. I do realize the bldgings are older and that may be the problem. The room did not have a closet area. There are a couple of hangers on a hook behind the door in the bathroom to hang clothes. The room consisted of a queen bed, two night stands, a small 3 drawer dresser and a wicker straight chair. So to sit and relax you use the bed. There is a great flat screen TV on the wall in front of the bed. The linens were comfy but the mattress really needs upgrading in our room.
The hotel is in a GREAT LOCATION. 1 block from Duval Street and directly across the street from the Hemingway House. We walked everywhere. The Maintenance Guy, Angel was super!! Handled a problem in less than 1 hour from arrival. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Upon arrive, we found parking on-site......but be aware, there are only a few sites and once you park, don't move your car. We would stay here again, given the deal we received on our stay and a sunset cruise deal.

I recently stayed at the Lighthouse Court in May, 2010. I traveled to Key West to get married and selected the Lighthouse court for ourselves and our wedding party. They have a wonderful luxury suite, called the Hemingway Retreat which overlooks the Hemingway house. THe room is spacious, cool, and comfortable. The loft could use a little more head room on the sides of the bed... I hit my head more than once on the ceiling beams! The staff was very friendly and accomodating. So much so that they let us have a cocktail party in the courtyard by the pool the night before the wedding! We would go back again and again... especially because we stayed at another Historic Key West Inns property, the Merlin Guesthouse and had just as good of an experience. They have a great group reservations coordinator so if you are a looking for a decent sized hotel with a cozy feel then this is the place to go! The rooms range from economy to luxury to fit all budgets.

Stayed here two nights and loved it.  It's in a perfect location not only to Duval street, but also to the sandy beach and the Southernmost Point.  They have a nice little pool, and the rooms are clean and modern.  The only downside were the roosters that crowed early in the morning (but that problem exists all over Key West).

We were here for a wedding where the majority of the wedding guests stayed.
Upon entering the courtyard I thought it was very cute and quaint.  Unfortunately while checking in the receptionist was not too friendly and perhaps new since she didn't know how to do everything.
The room we were in was small but apparently much bigger than our friends rooms downstairs.  I would have been angry if I were them since we all paid the same price.  The bathrooms are very small and need a good scrubbing of the showers as there is major molding and mildew.  It would also have been nice if there was a shelf to put things on since it was a pedestal sink.  Our bathroom door didn't shut all the way or lock.
Our room was upstairs where there was a deck to hang out on over looking the pool which was nice, but needed to be refinished as multiple people received splinters walking barefoot.
Cute place but needs a lot of upgrading.

Stayed there again of the 2nd time. Great place, really wonderful breakfast, and nice staff. They even had egg nog as it was Christmas time.
I really like that I can smoke outside the room, like on the front porch of our room, in the court yard, etc.. I do not smoke in the room, as I do not like the smell that lingers.
Don't know when I will be back, but will stay there for sure..

We go to the Key West every year, and we always stay at this hotel. It is very- very clean, the beds are comfortable, the staff is very friendly, and let me tell you that I have discover the best places to go eat and for entertainment from the staff at this hotel. I also love the location, everyone who's been to the keys knows that parking is always an issue, so you don't want to be driving anywhere, and this hotel is right in the middle of everything is only a couple of steps away from Duval street, so you can everywhere. This hotel is very versatile because it can be very romantic and charming , but great for family's at the same time. The continental breakfast is included poll side every day, not a big deal but is not bad either, you can have bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, juice and coffee ,there and go splurge on lunch or dinner. Clean- charming and quiet Hotel, check it out.

Let me tell you about my stay here at the Lighthouse Inn.

First night - Could not fall asleep because of noise coming from upstairs. No, not noise from other guests.. noise from RATS! They sounded so big! Like they were going to fall through the ceiling!!

In the morning we talked to the concierge about it and he told us that it was common that time of year for there to be rats around. (ugh, NEVER heard that before) He moved us to a different room.

Everything was fine until the second night we were there when the power suddenly got knocked off. No storms or bad weather. It was a mystery to the front desk as much as it was to us. We had to be moved a third time. This time they upgraded us to a larger suite.

In this room the air conditioner didnt really work very well. It was a pretty room but in August in Key West its flirting with 100 degrees outside so a non-working air conditioner is hardly ideal. We just sucked it up the last day and simply stayed out during the worst part of the day. In the afternoon we enjoyed to pool for a little while. And did what we could to combat the heat.

I will never, if I can help it, come back here again. Never.

This was our "southern destination" for our one-night stay in Key West. Glad we had the opportunity to stay here as this was a beautiful place. Nestled next to the old lighthouse, individual private cottages and rooms are what it's all about here.

We shared a suite which gave us a full kitchen, living room, dining area, upstairs loft and nice large bathroom. It was kinda' overkill for our one night here, but that didn't matter. Situated right across the street from the Ernest Hemingway house (which we planned to visit the next day) you couldn't have picked a better location to stay in an historical hotel instead of the typical offerings.

Laid back relaxation seems mandatory here so I have no problem getting into that. We get checked in and then walk down a short distance to Duval street for dinner.

At night, I choose the downstairs sofa bed over the upstairs loft for the fact that there is a TV there (which I never end up turning on) and it's close to the bathroom. I don't want to tumble down a staircase just trying to get up and pee at night. The disadvantage to my choice however was the fact that the room never got very dark even with all blinds tightly shut in the middle of the night. It was bright for some reason. Lack of sleep is not new to me however and so our day groggily began a little earlier than planned.

We wandered around to the back patio by the pool to enjoy our complimentary continental breakfast. It would be easy to spend a week here (too bad that room we got was $236/night!). I love the quiet solitude of this place and the friendly, courteous people here.

After breakfast the desk clerk is happy to store our luggage in a spare room by the lobby. No tickets, no counting "how many bags," no locking up........we were free to come and go throughout the day; even going in and out on our own to add new purchases to our stack of stuff.

Great way to begin our Florida adventure and introduction to the island style that is Key West. I'd love to come back here and I would definitely recommend this place. Free wi-fi too! The only place on our trip where we had that.

We stayed here for three nights in late March and it was very nice.  Great location (a block from Duval Street and a 5 - 10 minute walk from the beach) and some very nice scenery.  It is also next door to the historic lighthouse and across the street from the Hemingway House.

The staff is very friendly and helpful.  The bartender seemed a bit depressed but we enjoyed talking to him.  He makes very strong drinks.

The rooms are small, but that's something that you have to sort of recognize going in.  The pillows are a little stiff, but it was probably my bad for not asking for some fresh ones.

It's not too expensive but not very cheap either.  Very reasonable for Key West in the spring.

The customer service is excellent. The key lime margaritas are fantastic. We had no trouble with this lovely B&B.

It was a crowded weekend, and our room at another historic inn became uninhabitable, so they moved us to this better property closer to Duval street. It's about a block off Duval, nearby amazing food, across the street from the Hemmingway house.

We enjoyed our stay, it was quiet and clean, although a bit cramped because the only room they had left to put us in was under the stairs, by the ice machine and the air conditioner. But though it seemed far from what we'd originally booked at the time, the free drinks and a discount on the rate proved to be the perfect antidote to a potentially dramatic hospitality faux pas.

For a number of years now I've been staying at the lighthouse court when ever I come to key west.  And this year was no different.  I love the this place.  It is quaint and charming and I can always find myself unwinding and relaxing here.  Plus it is only a few blocks from some of my favorite restaurants!

The place is almost a like a little compound of different cottages and buildings.  Each with its own character.  Which means some are small and some are put together a bit strange but if you wanted brass and granite perfection head down the street to one of giant places by mallory square, if you want character and relaxation come here.

The staff is always helpful and friendly.  Breakfast is included and pretty standard bagels and muffins sort of thing.  The pool side bar is nice as well.

What I also like about this place is it is a bit off the beaten path but close enough you can walk to anything really interesting.  Or the bike rental places are only a couple of blocks away, no need for a car!

Go sit by the pool and relax, because even though the Hemingway house is across the street you almost never hear the crowds in the little world created by the lighthouse court.

But there are rooters near by, but that is part of the charm!

Stopped in for a cocktail to go in order to properly pay tribute to Hemingway's house across the street. Bartender couldn't have been more friendly, and made a damn good mojito.

You will love it if  you love hair in the bed, filthy fans and blinds, bleach smell and clogged bathroom sink (standing water clogged). Staff was accommodating but there were no other rooms...so we had to endure the inconvenience despite the $160 charge. Breakfast was good. Christmas salmon did not last till the end of breakfast. great location is about all they offer

Ok, let's get the negatives out of the way: the room was tiny and there was barely enough hot water. If you're looking for a luxury hotel, look elsewhere. The continental breakfast is 7-11 caliber, and I thought the place was pretty pricey.

BUT the Lighthouse Court also has a lot of recommend it. The location is perfect -- just across the street from the Hemingway House and right beside the Lighthouse. I felt safe when I left in the early morning and when I returned after midnight, and that feeling of security is important to me. The pool was clean and the room was immaculate, too. While not my first choice of hotel in Key West, I'd definitely stay here again.

What a nice cozy cute inn.  This was literally within walking distance of everything.  My friend and I got a double bed room upstairs and it included a couch and small kitchen area in case if we wanted to eat in the room.  The room was big and spacious enough for four people.  There was a ceiling fan above each bed.  They had a nice continental breakfast that was set up by the pool.  The weather was a breeze since it was late February.  It can get pricey, but we got a discount due to the wedding block that was held across the street at the Hemingway House.  I will definitely stay here again!

Unless you have to, NEVER stay here. The staff were mostly nice and accomodating. Dealing with Bryan was less than satisfying however. Never went into the pool...looked very dirty.  The first room we had was awful. Roaches in the bathroom with a toilet about to overflow. We complained. Lyn showed me another room that was uglier than the 1st. Since it was late i asked if we could change in the morning and she said there might be a better selection then. So we moved all of our  suitcases, etc. off the floor and barely slept. Next day, Bryan told my husband he would move us to a better room once it was cleaned and he would call. He never did. Four hours later i went to find out the story. He proceeded to move us into the room next door to the room we were in. G2 to G3. I asked if this was a better room. He said "better how?"  I said how about no roaches and a working toilet. He said nothing. I went back and told my husband. He was livid. We went back to the office. He asked Bryan what had happened to the better room. He rattled off something about the room would have taken 30 additional minutes and he was just trying to accommodate a customer.  He never told me about 30 additional minutes. I think he forgot/blocked/ whatever. Abby very apologetically took us to the better room. It was "better."  No roaches that we could see. In need of maintenance -one floor board felt like we would step right thru it. The a/c struggled but never quite made the room cold enough despite being set at 60. Mgmt did send us a bottle of champagne ( a discount for the hassle and wasted time would have been better. ). I went to check out and Bryan asked how my stay was. I said not the greatest and a hassle. He really didn't respond. Second accommodation thru booking.com that was horrible. Will not use them again either.  I travel to The Keys frequently. Not likely to stay in any of the Historic Inns ever again. Ps-this place was NOT cheap either.

Cozy and friendly atmosphere? Check.
Included continental breakfast with fresh OJ? Check.
Pool by the room? Check.
Crying babies? Not that I saw.

This place was pretty nice. Right across from the Hemmingway House, and a good place to stay. Room was very tiny. Then again, we didn't spend much time in it, so it was fair.

My only gripe is the walking distance to and from most restaurants and such. Every time we needed to eat, 30 minute walk there and back.

Parking is also a massive, massive pain in the ass, and this is coming from someone who has a car in NYC, and deals with street parking daily.

If you can avoid a car, do so. But you'll need it to get there, so it's lose-lose situation.

Only good thing about this place is location as it is off main strip by a block. Property is extremely less appealing than described/pictured in website. DO NOT LET THE PICS FOOL YOU!

"Suite" was an absolute joke @ $325+ / nite. Carpet was sticky. Afraid to walk barefoot in our room. By looks of them, ceiling fans haven't been cleaned in at least a year (being generous). When we asked for fresh wash cloths on Day 2 they told us "we don't have any more". We had to chase them down for a roll of toilet paper?!?! Pool is uninviting. Bar closes at 6pm. Staff lackadaisical at best. Check in was ridiculously long (think I bought a house faster). No staffing from midnight - 7am - so don't have any immediate needs during that time. Breakfast not horrible (unless you like decent coffee). We wound up going out for b'fast after 1st day.

Would NEVER be repeat guests. Too bad because if upgraded & managed properly, this place could be an awesome vacation spot.

BTW- I have never written a negative review like this in my life, as I always strive to support small businesses. This honest feedback seemed necessary to let potential guests be informed so they can choose their accommodations wisely. Happy guests drive the economy here and that's how all small businesses thrive. Look elsewhere.

Perfect location!  We got the two queen bedroom for four people and it was real nice!  Very clean and super friendly staff. I've stayed in bed and breakfasts and ocean key in past and this was as nice if not better.  Even had parking, although it is limited and we got lucky.  Will definitely come back when it's just a bit cooler.  Great overall experience!

I actually had my wedding reception here in the Hemingway suite . The hotel is very charming and the staff was super sweet. I absolutely love the location it is  located between the lighthouse and the Hemingway home. If you decide to go out for a night on the town you just walk up 1 block and you are on Duval street :) no need to use your car !

Perfect location, great Key West vibe, and the staff could not be any nicer! The room was extremely clean, and looked like it had recently been renovated. The multiple "conch" buildings make this one of the most unique hotels I've stayed in. Yes, the room may be smaller than what you would find in a chain hotel, but the atmosphere more than makes up for that. The location is perfect--park in their parking lot and don't move your car ever! It is an easy walk to Duval street and an even easier bike ride.

Having the option to take a dip in the pool--which has fairly late hours--is wonderful.

One of my favorite things was that the street the hotel was on was really the only street in Key West where we saw roosters roaming.

DO NOT get the cheapest room available! You will regret it. Very hospitable staff. Poolside bar says it closes at sunset but they closed at 1600 even on the weekends. That was a little disappointing considering we wouldn't go to the pool until around that time of day. Great location across from the Hemingway house and 1 block from Duval st.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for four nights over Memorial Day weekend. I will agree with one of the other reviewers that the location is the best part of this place, but  I do think with a little sprucing up, it could be a great place to stay.

It is located one block from Duval near the Southern Most area. We prefer to be within walking distance of town rather than be at one of the resorts where you have to take a shuttle or cab to get into town. We stayed in E8, second floor, which was a suite and away from the pool (as recommended). They need to rip up the carpet and address the furniture situation. There was a table with 2 chairs (metal)  in the tv room that was clearly made as outside furniture and they NEED to put in a dresser, there was no place to put our clothes! But knowing Key West,  we knew that other than sleeping, we really weren't going to be spending much time in our room - too much to do!

The pool area in the back is nice, having the Mojito bar right there is very convenient for grabbing a drink and sitting by the pool after a day on the water or shopping...

The room was very small. One metal chair and bench were the only places to sit. Had to use the bench for a suitcase stand and brought in a small patio table for our other suitcase. Had to move the metal chair to the bathroom to set our toiletries on because there was no vanity. Could barely turn around in the small shower and only had slightly above luke warm water. Nice patio area, and mojito bar. So so continental breakfast. Even tho they say they have parking it's very limited. Overpriced for what you get. But the location is great for getting around on foot.

We booked 3 nights in this hotel. It is across the Hemingway House and next to the light house. The Duval Street is only a block away with its bars and restaurants. We had the room D3 which was small but beautiful. The bathroom is large and everything was clean. We were a bit unlucky as our safe wasn't working. But the area is very save. The breakfast was fine and directly at the pool. We walked everywhere and we really enjoyed our time. We would have stayed longer when the price had been lower. But I guess this is the price of beautiful Key West.

The poolside continental breakfast is peaceful. I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed in Key West for one night and this was the place we chose. In our entire trip this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at, but I guess Key West is just an expensive place overall!

There is little parking, so get in there while you can. If not, they give you a little card to display on your car and you park a few blocks away in a private little parking area.

They have a very TINY pool, but it's nice if you need cool down for a few minutes and the rooms are very cute while a bit on the smaller side. Still, I really enjoyed the ambiance of this location and probably would come again if the price were a bit lower. Still we were running out of options and this place had decent reviews. Overall, I liked it.
