This place gets 5 stars mainly because there's FREE HAPPY HOUR AT THE POOL EVERYDAY!  Yeah for real.  Even if you bring your own mixer, you can't complain on free hummus and wine.  They have free smoothies too all day long.  The rooms are nice, with granite counter tops and nice bathrooms.  The room we were in was a top level that had two floors inside of it.  Downstairs was the living area and kitchen and upstairs were the 2 bedrooms.  I wish the bathrooms were the same in both rooms the shower was much nicer in one room than the other.  This place has a great location only a few blocks from the southern most point in the US and you can get to Duval and downtown in a 5 min. bike ride.  Hint if you really want to get around Key West efficiently then get bike, you can rent them for cheap (mine was 40 for the whole trip).  All in all this place was nice, with a wide array of people young and old.  The pools are awesome at night to swim in, just don't be too loud or security will yell at you like you weren't a guest staying there.

Place is great. The kitchen and living area in the suite was fantastic. We had a 2 bedroom suite and it was perfect for 2 couples. The pool area is like a small oasis and the free drinks and smoothies was a nice touch. The location is fairly close to all of the action ( about a block or so from Duval )

From check-in to check-out this place was amazing. I have to say that I did not research and make the reservation, but was definitely thrilled with our stay. When we arrived, the front desk immediately ushered us in to partake in the free happy hour by the pool. Nordi and Wolfgang "Wolfie!" at the front desk were so friendly and amazing. Also - Derek the concierge made great dinner/activity recommendations (not to mention reservations and coupons!) for us throughout our stay. Our suite was incredible - patio with chairs, full kitchen, living room area, flat screen tv's, laundry room, free muffins every morning, chocolates and ice cream bars. The pool was clean and beautiful, almost oasis like with trees and foliage. There is a happy hour every day - free drinks, smoothies and snacks. Free fruit, bottled water and sunscreen as well. Also included with every stay is beach access two hotels down at Southernmost. Show your room keys and get free lounge chairs!

I will absolutely go back next time I visit and would recommend to anyone searching for a hotel in Key West.

We selected this hotel based on a recommendation made by a friend that we were traveling with. While the actual accommodations are great, don't expect the hotel staff to display much more than a 3rd grade education in terms of helpfulness. When we arrived to the hotel, they told us that we could only have 1 parking pass (for a 2 bedroom suite) and they couldn't even direct us to where to park in the meantime...they suggested a lot that costs an extra $15/day. They also told us that our rate was based on "double occupancy" and because we were having 2 couples stay in our 2 bedroom suite, we would be charged an extra $50/night. They told us that this was based on the fact that they provide "smoothies and muffins" to their guests. We asked if we could forego the $25 pastries, however this was not an option. When it was time to checkout, it took 3 different employees including a manager to accomplish the daunting task of splitting a check in half. After 30 minutes, and calculations performed by our guests, they were finally able to do it. For a seemingly nice resort (we paid around $400 a night) they sure do nickle and dime you every time you turn around.

I won't be staying there again, and in the future I'll opt for one of the charming B&B's that I've stayed at before. I never did get one of those muffins.

This place was awesome...friendly staff, turn down service with chocolates, mini Dove ice cream bars left in the freezer every night, warm pool, free bottled waters and smoothies by the pool and comfy beds. They offer late check outs (3:00pm) for a small fee, but we didn't end up leaving until 4:00pm. Didn't feel rushed to leave either...maybe because we didn't go when it was peak season...but the late check out was a bonus!

The rooms must be soundproof! I was here for a joint bachelor/bachelorette party and our group of 14 people were rowdy and noisy until the wee morning hours. We were swimming in the pool after our trip to the bars(mind you, last call in Key West is 3:45am), we had a couple musicians who liked to play guitar at random hours throughout the day, and not a single noise complaint!

The only drawback (not worth knocking off a star though) was that the resort is located all the one on the opposite side of where the night life is located on Duval street. A short 15 minute walk or $5 cab ride will get you there though!

I will most definitely be coming back!

Stayed at Santa Maria Suites for two nights, wish it could have been more!!  Our suite was immaculately clean, very modern with a most beautiful & efficient kitchen.  We were downstairs toward the back of the pool with a nice very private outdoor patio.  The staff was wonderfully accommodating and friendly, giving us tips on area restaurants and things to do. I live in Florida and have stayed at other quite pricey hotels in Key West in the past........never again, will only stay at Santa Maria in the future.

Booked a reservation on a hunch. Turned out to be one of if not the best place to stay in Key West. Tentative staff. Very very clean rooms. Great pool area. Endless mixed smoothies and shakes at the outside bar. Can't beat it.

Santa Maria Suites was a true treat. The suite itself was beautiful and well laid out. We stayed with another couple and felt total privacy from each other, with the easy ability to meet in the comfortable living space. The kitchen and appliances were beautiful- everything you needed to cook your own meals or just have snacks and drinks on hand. The pool area was stunning, with beautifully landscaped foliage and a good bit of shade. Loved the free smoothies and wine happy hour! The resort was extremely well maintained and clean. It was wonderful to have beach access with chairs. The location of the resort is perfect- close to Duval but far enough way so that it was very quiet. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Lorenzo did a great job of taking care of us!

I don't give many 5 star reviews, but this place rocked.  We stayed 3 wonderful nights, a family of four, in the poolside suites.  This place is my idea of paradise!  The pool with free smoothies was a huge hit.  The rooms are very nice, furnished with high end appliances that you might find in a nice home, a solid cut above most hotels and resorts.  Comfy beds an pillows too.  Great location at the quieter end of Duval, but a short walk or cab to all the action in KW.  Highly recommended to my fellow Yelpers!  Also, try the sushi bar on site, Ambrosia, it was very good too..

The rooms are clean, beautiful and modern. The pool is small, but the garden is well kept. Entry to all rooms is only through the patio entrance so you must go through the cramped pool area to get around the hotel.
The service is very friendly.
Overall for $400 a nite this place needs to offer more amenities, like a full bar, continental breakfast, a real gym, and a BEACH or at least beach or ocean access.
With this kind of rates you better of getting an all inclusive getaway abroad in a beach front property.

The Santa Maria tops the list as one of my favorite hotels. All the amenities that should come standard at a hotel are (internet, bottled water, parking), and they just keep on giving with free smoothies and ice cream, and wine and snack hour. To top it off the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are huge, the staff is friendly. It's steps from the beach, no there's no onsite access, but they do offer free beach chairs at a spot around the corner.

Side note: if you are in Key West eat at El Siboney.

Feeling that warm welcome that hospitality leaders naturally deliver was the first impression made by the personable staff at the Santa Maria Suites in Key West, Florida.  Prior to even checking in to the Santa Maria, the inviting personality that was exhibited was very visible.

Upon check in - the Front Desk personnel was professional and very accommodating.   Knowing that staff were on point at the Santa Maria kicked off our stay on a superior note.

The Santa Maria Resort is gorgeous.  With Lush Tropical landscape canvasing the pool and common areas.  The resort had a feel of tranquility and exclusivity - retreat feel.  When you walked from the Lobby through the Pool grounds to your private suite you knew tropical paradise surrounded you.  What better way could a resort allow you to begin your stay.

Our party stayed in a bi-level two bedroom, two bathroom suite facing the Pool.  Our suite was finished in 2007 so included upgraded appliances, granite counter tops, stainless steel, and beautiful marble and hardwood flooring.  Our Suite was very spacious and we all felt a sense of modern luxury mixed with a sense of home appeal.  Our lower level was perfect for entertaining since we had a full kitchen, bar, and living room with two balconies going off of each room.  The upper level was private and contained the separate bedrooms and bathrooms with a hallway common closet.  Our bedroom in which faced the pool had an amazing balcony with superior views.

If you think Santa Maria sounds like the Ultimate getaway in paradise, there is more +++!  Ambrosia restaurant at the Santa Maria was so chic.  Fabulous Sushi and Sake served in a modern, contemporary urban appeal space.  Being a foodie myself, I was very satisfied with the excellence we experienced dining at Ambrosia.

Amenities at the Santa Maria were lovely perks throughout the week.  The top highlight at our resort was the friendly, and VIP Treatment that our Pool Concierge Derek Displayed.  We booked all of our activities and tourist adventures with Derek.  Derek added so much to our trip.  If you have the opportunity to stay at the Santa Maria, ask Derek to make you a Margarita - you will be wowed!!!

Overall a Must for Couples and Groups!  A Great stay for those who appreciate luxury in a intimate environment.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights recently and loved it.  The rooms are suites with a full kitchen, living room and powder bath and well decorated.  Every night they would deliver muffins to your room from a local bakery that were so yummy. The property is very quaint and everything centers around a great pool area with shade and sun options. All of the staff were very helpful and we particularly appreciated Christie the poolside bartender/concierge who made suggestions for outings and things to do that all turned out to be great.  She also made great smoothies (that were free) and great drinks.  We couldn't have asked for a better stay.  The hotel is also within walking distance of great food, entertainment and gives you free access to chairs at the Southernmost beachfront.  We would recommend this hotel to anyone and will definitely be returning!

We haves stayed here as a family 2 years in a row and love it. The staff are super helpful and the pool is great! I like that we can cook meals as well as launder our clothes each day. Our only complaint was that he cleaning staff were a bit inconsistent this year. Some days they didn't come until almost 6pm and one morning they came before 10am.  The room wasn't as clean as it was last year, but not dirty by any means- so we assume they have hired a new group of cleaners. It is with in walking distance to the Southernmost point and great places to dine too!

I selected this hotel because it was ranked #1 on TripAdvisor, and was very pleased with my choice.  From an architectural standpoint, the complex has a mid-century modern vibe, especially from the street (signs, lobby) and in the common spaces.  The resort seems to have been recently built as a condo complex but now operates as a hotel; centered around a decent-sized pool with tons of chairs, and a bar with free smoothies!  The small lobby was next to a highly rated Asian restaurant (although we never made it there).

Our unit was awesome; 2.5 bedroom, 3 bathroom, with three balconies on a split-level floor plan.  It had top of the line finishes, and a new, modern style.

The location was great - near (but not on) a beach, and a short walk to the end of Duvall street.  The price was very reasonable too.  Highly recommended.

Time to work on this vacation review backlog! I was here for Thanksgiving and it's already late February!

This place was pretty sweet. Four of us stayed in one of two-bedroom, 2.5 bath duplex units. It was clean, tastefully decorated and well-appointed. The full kitchen had stainless steel appliances, plenty of plates, glasses, pans and utensils. When we arrived there were little ice cream bars waiting for us in the freezer! This was just one of the little touches you get here. Later that night someone came to our door and offered us MORE ice cream bars, Dove chocolates and muffins for breakfast the next morning. This was a nightly occurrence, and when we were out they left the muffins and ice cream bars in the kitchen, and the chocolates in the bedrooms.

The resort offers free wi-fi. Our unit had a large flat screen TV and DVD player, a washer-dryer, and three balconies (two of them overlooking the pool area).

The pool was not large, but big enough and there are plenty of lounge chairs around it. During the day they offer free fruit smoothies and bottled water by the pool as well as sun screen and aloe gel if you forget your own. In the early evening the smoothie station changes into a free wine and snack booth. Fresh fruit is available in the lobby.

The location is good, near the south end of the famous Duval St, home to shopping, dining and nightlife. It's a bit of a walk to the nightlife section, but not too much and there are plenty of pedicabs if you decide you're too tired to hoof it. The resort isn't on a beach, but there is one about a block away where you can show your room key and get free use of their lounge chairs (which you otherwise have to rent). The beach isn't particularly large or beautiful, but it's sandy and on the ocean.

There is a small fitness center with an elliptical machine, treadmill and multi-function weight machine...and a large flat screen TV.

It's hard to find fault with this place, they really do almost everything right. But to get nit-picky for a moment (this is Yelp), there are a couple things that weren't perfect. The coffeemaker was one of those tiny hotel size ones. They supplied one of those little pre-filled coffee filter things you often find in hotels, but we bought our own coffee and filters and had to run the thing 2 or 3 times to make enough coffee for the 3 people drinking it. Also the two bathrooms attached to the bedrooms had frosted-glass doors, which I feel cuts down a bit on privacy, plus you have to worry about waking up your roommate or partner with the light when you have to pee in the middle of the night.

Neither of those things would stop me from staying there again or enthusiastically recommending it to someone else.

Great hotel. We had a 2 br which had 3 balconies and a gorgeous fully equipped kitchen. They really know how to take care of the details - which is important to me. The decor was very nice to say the least and there were tons of amenities. The pool was amazing and the staff seemed to be pretty helpful. They made our beds every day and turned down the beds every evening.

There were TONS of things that were amazing here...so why not 5 stars? There were a few things that I think should/could have been better for the type of establishment this is.

(1) wifi - no room is more than 10 steps from the pool/courtyard yet I could not get wifi at all the entire time I was in the room.  Were told that in the courtyard there was a better signal but I still got nothing. A place like this should not overlook something as important as wifi connections since people like us need to be able to work while we're there. That's a big oversight to me.

(2) restaurant - I was there 3 days and tried a few times to go to Ambrosia which is said to be the best sushi place on the entire island and  could never find it open. To begin with, its only open during a few hours for lunch and a few hours for dinner, but  Sunday evening it was closed for a private event and Monday for lunch it was closed for cleaning for some reason. It was a little irritating and for such a nice place you'd think they'd clean during the hours between lunch and dinner. Its not like they're open all day! That was just weird to me...

(3) check out/cleaning staff - we requested late check-out but that was obviously not relayed to the staff because they just walked into the room without warning which I thought was weird. They quickly left before I could even get downstairs but I do like to walk around nude when I'm on vacation so it could have been bad...it wasn't a big deal because nothing happened but that was a disaster waiting to happen.

My family stayed here over the weekend and every detail was covered! We chose this property because it offers a somewhat larger accommodation in comparison to a standard hotel room. We had a 2 bedroom suite - including a full size kitchen, laundry, family room and porch in the front.

Arriving after 9 pm, check in was a breeze! The attendant offered some highlights of the area - walking directions to the beach, a property map and mentioned some of the perks at the pool. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the fresh fruit, smoothies and more the very next day. They also offer a happy hour with hummus and chips around 4 pm.

In the room - everything was immaculate and stylish. Completely up to date - pull out Sub Zero drawers for the refrigerator and freezer, really? Nice touch! AND even nicer mini Dove ice cream bars in the freezer every night! And Dove chocolates at turn down! Come on - does it get better - YES! Fresh muffins made by a local vendor every morning! YUM! One note - the coffee machine needs an upgrade! It is very small - but convenient - so thanks for the coffee and condiments everyday! But please consider a bigger machine!

The property is conveniently located near the Southern Most Point of Key West. Easy walk to the monument. We walked to town as well. The beach was close by - umbrellas and chairs for rent there. We went to Higgs Beach one day and rented paddle boards too. Fun and more fun!

Another great place close by - Louie's Backyard - A MUST! I'll review that separately!

Overall, a great little gem tucked away at the end of Key West! Book it now - what are you waiting for?!

Santa Maria Suites are located a block or so off the quiet end of Duval Street. This is a good thing! They are quiet at night for a good sleep, they are very clean and the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The fact it's on the "far end" of Duval is also nice because it makes you walk for 15 minutes or so at the end of the night.

I would not hesitate to stay here again if I go back to KW.

Loved it, except no view, beach access a block away, and no hot tub.  Also it is butted up against the Waldorf Astoria, so some of our views were of the parking garage & walkways, and a little bit of our pool.  Everything else was fantastic!

One of the best hotel/resorts we've ever stayed at.

We were at Santa Maria Suites for five nights, and we could not have chosen a better resort. Our vacation started by us showing up early, and instead of the staff telling us to come back when the room was early, Ken was super nice and showed us where to hang out at the pool and get free smoothies and water while we waited for our suite to get cleaned. Our pool "bartenders" included Kristen, Christie, and Jenya, all of whom were super friendly and helpful. We also chatted with Nordi a couple times, and he, too, was very nice. I've never had such a good experience with hotel staff as I did with Santa Maria.

The location is perfect-- it's right off Duval Street, but it's the quiet end away from all the loud touristy businesses. But it's still a quick walk or bike ride to all that stuff (the island isn't that big, after all).

We had two bedrooms, and it was a split level apartment. Although everything was squeezed kind of tight, we still had plenty of room, and it was nice having the kitchen on the first floor and the bedrooms upstairs. It also had 2.5 bathrooms, which was a nice surprise. They don't have too many guest rooms, so they are able to focus nicely on the rooms and guests that they do have.

PROS: free smoothies all day at the pool, full kitchens including pots & pans & cutlery & more, happy hour from 4-5:30 that has free wine or pita chips & hummus, free Dove ice cream bars and chocolate bars delivered to your room daily, free local-made AMAZING blueberry or banana nut muffins delivered to your room daily, completely private pool area with plenty of chairs in the sun & shade, free sunblock at the pool, free wi-fi, and super nice staff.

CONS: a few tiny ants in the kitchen, two nights we didn't get muffins delivered, the shower water pressure was super weak, and the beach access is a block away (but the beaches there are rocky and stinky, so we stayed at the pool the entire time).

We had to struggle to come up with the cons above, and they weren't very bad at all.

If you're only going to spend a few days here, I'd recommend Sunday thru Wednesday because the resort got packed Thursday thru Saturday.

Overall, congratulations Santa Maria Suites for having an amazing resort and for helping us have one of our best vacations ever!

I went here with my girlfriend in August, a really hot time of year. We stayed for five nights. All of the places are suites with a full kitchen. It is truly a fully functional kitchen with fridge, stove, oven, microwave, wine fridge, freezer, cabinets, dishes, dishwasher, etc. Our place had three, count them, three balconies!

The place has a really nice pool area with fountains during the day for kids. At night, it is really cozy and quiet, good for some one-on-one time with your other half! There is no hot-tub if that is a must for you, but the pool is really nice and warm.

During the day, there was a happy our with free wine (seriously) from 4pm to 5:30pm at the pool. All day long from like 9-5 there are free smoothies and bottled water at the pool. It is really nice. We would go out walking in the sweltering summer heat and just grab a couple smoothies on the way out.

The bed was really cozy, the shower was really nice (with two ceiling shower heads, nice for a two-person shower). In addition to the free stuff by the pool, they brought of muffins daily and mini-dove chocolate bars which were all free.

I really hope this place stays how it is. There are no hidden or extra fees. Internet is free and so is parking, although the internet connection was only good in some parts of the place (not really a big deal for me).

Overall, super relaxing, calm, cozy, good service, nice amenities - would recommend for sure. :)

This resort was excellent and we plan to go back this summer.  It was modern, sophisticated and well worth the money.

We stayed in a two-bedroom suite that boasted two levels, a lounge, two balconies and a large, fully-equipped kitchen.  The pool area was stunning and isolated, lending a true away-from-reality feel.

And yes, the free smoothies all daylong were great, as was the free wine happy hour from 4-5:30.

This would have been a five star review, but there was one detail that slightly reduced our enjoyment.  While the resort had lounge music playing throughout and implied and adult feeling, there were simply too many children at the resort.  The suggested calm of the courtyard and pool area was constantly defeated by the screams and shouts of many children.  Granted it was March break and the children were not mis-behaving, but the loud sounds of children can certainly reduce enjoyment of an adult vacation.

I am hopeful that the next time we go there the clientele will be more adult-friendly and less children-friendly.

This was my second stay with my boyfriend and mom at Santa Maria.  We arrived on a Sunday a little before the 4 PM stated check in time.  Woman at the desk we occupado with a difficult reservation so it was 4 by the time we got going.  Unbeknownst to me, if you book a room at the least expensive rate, you are booking a bi level.  This means up one set of stairs to the living space and up another to the bedrooms.  I said that my mom had trouble getting around and they were very helpful in rearranging things so that we got a ground floor room.  This was AWESOME!  The first couple days we were there, it was very empty in the hotel.  I kinda feel like this was once a condo or something, converted into a hotel.  Since the last time I was there ('10) they had replaced the chairs and couches in the living space and the new ones were much nicer.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are gorgeous and the kitchen is well appointed, although we bought a mess of shrimp at the seafood market and there was no de-veiner.  I in turn stabbed myself with a knife.  yikes!  We cooked a couple times and the cleaning staff were good about putting the stuff in the dishwasher.  The muffins and ice cream were always welcome.

We rented bikes at the Southernmost Hotel, which is a better deal than the place attached to the Cuban grocery across the way.  They are also much nicer bikes.  We got coffee almost every across the street. Also, this is an Old Town Trolly stop which was nice for my mom who doesn't get around.  The Southernmost Beach Cafe and Camille's are both highly recommended and within easy walking distance of the hotel, AND the sushi attached is AWESOME!

Amberlynn and Christi were both very helpful.  Gotta say I miss Derek though.  He was the best concierge!

The pool is saltwater which is awesome.  You can spend all day without getting cholrined out.  There are always ample towels and smoothies to be had.  If you want to go on an excursion they are great at helping you find one.  We did Fury this time, but I would recommend Java Cat.  Way more personal and nicer.

This hotel is great for use traveling as a family because of the 2 bedrooms and honestly, that's why we booked it the first time.  The perks are great, but I would go for something that was a little less if we could find the same arrangement.

-On top of the spendy room, there's a $20/day resort fee which was explained to be for the smoothies and the help in booking trips, etc.  Seems high to me, so make sure to take advantage of the services.
-The filter hadn't been cleaned in the dishwasher I guess, so every time I ended up hand washing everything because it came out with food crumbles on it.
-No coffee filters for the machine (we wanted good coffee that we brought, not packed).
-For such a new hotel, the wall and ceiling are thin.  The kids next door to us the last couple nights were screamers and we could hear them clearly (as well as the parents yelling at the kids).  The people above were night owls and up early so we could hear the stools scraping against the floor (maybe need some felt on the bottom?) and then every morning around 6 we could hear them dropping things in the bedrooms.  Seems like a good upgrade to add sound proofing if they ever remodel.
-Outside our window there was a trash can or something... when it rained the gutter dripped so loudly on it that it woke us up in the night and kept us up.
-There's a feral cat prowling around.  I waked by it one night not knowing and it clawed the crap out of my foot running away.
-The pool is only 4 ft and not really big enough to swim in.  Fine for standing but it does get crowded when family groups roll in or the hotel is full.

Overall I was very satisfied with Santa Maria Suites.  We stayed one night in a 2 bedroom, 2 floor suite which felt like an apartment, clean, neat, modern, tile, marble, modern appliances in the kitchen, 3 flat screen t.v.'s beds are not heavenly and for the price should get that.  Pool area is nice with a cozy and loungy feel.  The place is small, quiet, dignified.  Lets you get away from the craziness of Duval.

Con: The hotel charges a $20. fee not advertised upon arrival.  This cost I was told was to cover pool, beach access and wifi.  Again for the premium prices already paid, all this and more should be included.  The gesture, although not a lot of money, left an impression.  I would encourage management to waive this in the future.

Conclusion:  I would recommend this place to anyone.
Not for loud, young, party people.

Our first visit to the Keys, was a great choice for our stay.  Staff was amazing.  Suites were very nice, clean and had been well taken care of.  Noticed a musty smell after the first day.  After investigating found that shower in hall bath had cracks in seal at bottom and little flys were coming out and this was causing the musty mildew smell.  I thought it was cigarette at first until allergies started kicking in.  Talked to front desk and they had someone over sealing the shower immediately.  Smell never really left.  That's the only negative about the entire stay and I know it was an isolated incident.
Definitely will stay there again.
PS Muffins delivered daily, really nice gesture but they have no taste.

The Santa Maria Suites is one of the nicer multi room suites that I have stayed in.  We had one of their 2 bedroom flat suites.  Which is located on the first floor.  The suites were very spacious and clean with a full kitchen that you can actually cook in.  Don't plan on cooking gourmet meals here but you can get away with breakfast and lunches.  I posted a couple pictures of the suite and the grounds around the pool area to get a idea of how well the property is kept up.

Just a heads up for those of you use to staying in 4-5 star hotels.  This is a very limited hotel in the area of amenities.  The only restaurant on property is sushi.  Yes it's very good but you can't eat sushi every meal of the day.  There is no valet or bellman service and the parking is very limited.  It looks as though they only have parking for 1 space per suite.  They do have a limited bar at the pool with complimentary smoothies during the day and free happy hour from 4-6, wine and beer only.  The staff here was very attentive to your needs.  We were booked into the wrong room when we arrived but were quickly moved when the error was pointed out.

What a great place to stay!  Probably the most spacious suites in Key West, full kitchen with living room and large bedrooms.  Great for all ages, and groups.

Art Deco atmosphere with modern amenities. Blue and grey colored suites surround pools and palm trees. We shared our suite with friends. One bedroom is ensuite . The other bedroom has a very small bathroom outside of the bedroom. This is an inconvenience to consider when sharing. This is a lovely little gem of a hotel in a fantastic location. Cocktails are $5 all day and beer is $3. Eat dinner around the corner at Louis Back Porch.

Here's what happened. I called the resort and booked for 3 months away. Paid and everything. After several days, someone from the resort called and said, "sorry we'reclosed." What??!!  Why did they not know that when I booked? They gave absolutely no reason, no apologies, nothing. That's not cool. Very disappointing for what is supposed to be a 5-star resort. Bad first impression!

This place is paradise. Its fun and beautiful. The suites are huge with the most modern decors. I never wanted to leave. They give you everything u could need. Muffins, smoothies, FREE. all day. I didn't want to leave my hotel. The pool is amazing. Surrounded by palm trees and flowers. The only thing I would complain about is that it doesn't go deeper than 4 feet and that the only nice beach in that area is fort Zachary. You have to check it out. It's crystal clear water with rocks that people climb and dive into the ocean for. Its about a 7 minute drive. 15 minute walk. The staff is amazing. They help with everything and offer anything imaginable. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and honest. I don't know her name but she had short light hair. Early 30s. Very kind and helpful. The price is fairly expensive in the winter time. Usually goes up to $1000 a night. But in the summer u can get it for $250.

Yes, this resort is magnificent, and picturesque, and it happens to be in paradise. But, what really makes the Santa Maria Resort a 5 star accommodation are the simple touches that show that the staff and owner of this resort really want to make sure that their guests have a memorable stay and ensure that they become repeat visitors. They succeeded; I will be back.

Upon walking into the suite, my family's jaws dropped. Usually you expect that any hotel room you get will not look like it does in the pictures on the website, but in this instance the photos on the website did not lie. We walked into an immaculate suite with complimentary water, dove chocolate ice cream bars, stainless steel appliances, flat screen tvs in each room, contemporary furniture, and oh, the beds were like laying on clouds. I have never stayed in a place like this and from now on I will make sure that everywhere I stay is up to par.

There are free smoothies (which were DELISH) at the pool as well as free wine and beer from 5-7pm at happy hour. The pool area looks like a tropical oasis with the fountain and chairs surrounding it. The water isn't that deep, so even though the heat will make you want to do a belly flop or cannon ball into the water, expect to only be able to climb in. I suspect that it was a salt water pool-which was a nice touch.

The maids were excellent and very kind, but they did not speak English. Luckily I have an 11 year Spanish background so I was able to communicate with them and I think they appreciated that. In regards to location... it was pretty good but could have been better. If you want to be RIGHT where the action is, then this isn't the place. This is far enough away from the bars so that you can get a good night sleep but you can also walk to the action. Walking is possible, but with the scorching Desert HEAT there were a few times when my friend and I just couldn't do it. Luckily we had a rental car, but also parking is horrible in Key West. With that being said, I would love to come back here and I would definitely stay at the Santa Maria when I do!

Great 5 star hotel!!!  This was our second visit to Key West.  Based upon our previous stay at this hotel, we gave it another try.  The hotel in some respects was better than our first time.

The staff are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable.  They go out of their way to ensure your stay is very pleasurable.

Without a doubt, we will be back again.

Really impressed with the property. What a great place. Salt water pool. Very updated and clean. There is no room service but this more like a condo than a hotel. They are very spacious and brand new. Will go back again.

Love this place, would come back a thousand times. The service was great the front desk people were soooo nice and helpful always ready to help with where to go in the area. The hotel was attached to a very nice sushi restaurant  and close to the main road Duvall but  just far enough from the crazy ness of the main strip. It had a lovely tropical garden feel inside around the pool. We had a great room that you could walk right outside to the pool. You either could have a balcony or garden porch. you could spend your whole vaca around pool and feel completely satisfied.

We booked this hotel for our mini honeymoon to Key West. Checked in late Friday & checked out really early Monday. The gardens & pool settings were gorgeous! So lush! We walked into our room. Nice size kitchen (which we never used), but really tiny bathrooms, bedroom, low-lying bed.. Just an awkward layout. You had to shuffle sideways to get around the bed on either side.

Aside from aesthetics.. It took us the entire TWO days to get our room cleaned! We had to ask four times until anything got done. Twice on Saturday & twice on Sunday. They came around 4PM on Sunday to clean. You'd think paying this much would warrant some urgency & customer service. No apology. No nothing. They didn't even restock water or the muffins they made us pay for in their "hotel fee."

Really disappointed to say the least. Will NOT recommend this place.

I wish I could rate more than five stars!
This hotel is the best! The suites are just beautiful and very clean, and their layout around the pool is so pleasant.
The complimentary snacks that are left every day are a lovely treat.
I really enjoyed my stay there and would definitely recommend this gem of a hotel to everyone.

This resort is absolutely beautiful!!! The people are wonderful and helpful.  My family and I enjoyed our stay very much and we will be back every year.  The girls working there are a pleasure to deal with.  The suites are very modern, updated, a very comfortable stay with kids because all suites have a very nice kitchen.  Love it!!!

Beautiful, comfortable suites. Stayed in both a poolview ground-level suite and a bilevel tribalcony suite.  The ground-level suite was nice because you could walk out directly to the pool, but the bilevel suite was not only larger (at the same price of $450) but also had an extra bathroom.

The suites are furnished like a home with all accessories and appliances you could ever need. Washer, dryer, kettle, toaster, blender, stove, sinks with disposal, silverware, and more.

Also there is ice cream in the drawer fridges and plates of real fruit to welcome you.

Fitness room was disappointing -- it looked half-assed for such a good hotel.

Other notes: They charge $20-25 per extra person staying in suite.

Free chairs at barefoot billy's two blocks west of Santa Maria. Just show them your hotel key card.

Attentive staff.  Gorgeous rooms.  Great pool.

Can't go wrong with this place.  If you're looking for a gorgeous and comfortable setting to set up for your home base on Key West, look no further.  You're across the street from the Southernmost and its beach.  You're two blocks away from the actual Southernmost Point.  You can get to Duval and make the walk to take in all that Old Town has to offer.

Enjoy your time in comfort and maybe even one or two extra Dove bars that they leave you in the freezer when they turn down the room for the night.
