This is a very modern hotel. When you check in they give you a welcome drink which is delicious can't wait to come back when they have the rum for sale. The room we had was the king bed room it was amazing. This was our first time staying overnight in key west and I don't think I'll ever stay at any other hotel besides the gates. Didn't get a chance to enjoy the pool but I'll be back for a longer stay soon !!!

Sweet and coastal hotel! The hotel looks very modern and sweet. Good thing they renovated. They even have a bar and pool. The room has very coastal feeling. The beds are a bit cramped. The bathroom is nice and include some robes. The place is close to some tourist attractions. The cost of the room is not what you expect from this kind of hotel. I do recommend this hotel. By the way the beach is about 5-10 minutes away and the A.C. is loud.

Nice place. We were moved to this hotel as our original hotel is still under rennovation.  Since our original hotel offered breakfast this hotel (Gates) wanted to offer the same....except we got stale donuts, coffee but no juice or water or items commonly provided for in a continental breakfast.  It was an imposition for them when we asked for sweetner for our coffee.  For the remaining trip we will go out for breakfast. ...its a bummer as we were promised a better stay as we did not select this hotel nor did we know our original hotel would not be ready.  Warning they will tack on another $25 in resort fees on top of the 7% and 5% tax!!!  Resulting in $62 extra per day. Staff was pretty much clueless but smiled when they'd say they didn't know.

We stayed here because we had reservations to stay at the new Marriott Fairfield inn & Suites. Unfortunately, the Marriott was still under construction.  As we arrived for check in, we were greeted with wide open doors, smiles, and local rum distillery cocktails. One Virgin one with alcohol of course.

We received rates for Marriott as they thought they were equivalent and also a new establishment.  The premesis includes a food truck, bar, and heated pool.  We also received free breakfast tickets @ the Blind Pig food truck for what would have been Marriott s complimentary breakfast. Sorry, blind pig but it was not comparable. Tasteless bread to accompany the Cuban deli meat with cheddar cheese. Tasted far from Cuban. A runny taco that had more texture of a of a soup because of the undercooked egg, salsa and avocado. Not to mention tasteless. The best thing on the menu was probably the Greek yogurt with granola.

The rooms were nice, clean, modern and contemporary . However, we asked for a pool view room and the room we had was room #122 lower level. You can only see a corner of the pool and no chairs were in front like other center pool view rooms. I don't even think people should pay pool view price for that room. Ridiculous. On top of that, we were under the ice machine which sounded like an old man continuously snoring.

Guest services were pleasant if you can ever get a hold of them by phone. It's either busy or they don't answer the phone if you need any assistance. Terrible hospitality for the price you pay a night. I had to walk over to the office and tell them their toilet seat was loose and to have our roomed cleaned. If this place didn't have a pool I would have considered this place a motel.  There is no late check out. Check out is @11am if your are not out by 1120 they automatically charge 50$.  We also left our baggage with the front desk so that we would not have to lug around our baggage. I thought that was convenient. We also loaded the luggage cart ourselves without any assistance. Once we arrived back to redeem our luggage we were asked to drive to the storage room so that they did not have to carry our baggage to the lobby! Talk about LAZY! And, why would you want to show your guests your storage area?! SMH.

I also advise if you decide to stay here rent a car because you are pretty far from Duval street.

It's a really nice "hotel" but, for that price don't think we'll be back.

The good: Chic, newly renovated hotel in Key West. The decor is on point, and they bed is super comfortable (like three-hour-nap-comfy). The staff was low key and friendly, and we got a welcome cocktail upon checking in.

The Bad: Location. One thing to know ... a taxi to the downtown Key West area is $20 each way (this includes a $3 tip). So, a night out is $40 transportation. I would love to see this hotel offer a shuttle or free bike rental to remedy their bad location.

Additionally, they are working out some kinks. They were unable to make several of the cocktails on their menu because they did not have the rum or other ingredients. This was somewhat sad/ironic as the name of the bar on premise bar is Rum Row. Also, they advertise sunrise and sunset bike tours, but when we inquired we were told they do not offer them at this time.

Finally, I am not entirely sure they have any food on premise. They advertise a food truck, but the weekend I was there the truck was shut down and parked the whole time. The only thing within walking distance is a McDonald's ...

This place is quite comfortable and has tons of potential, so I am hoping this review will gently guide the powers that be to make some amends to the guest experience.
