Excellent service, great location right in the middle of it all and around the corner from Captain Tony's.  Beautiful quality and cleanliness, great price, and they even gave us a free upgrade to an ocean view room!  I'll be back.

We reserved  two rooms for the Martin Luther Day weekend but on January 2, 2011 called Westin to cancel the reservation.  Still we were charged for a no show that cost $3000 for three nights and two rooms.  Calls to the Westin corporate office shows that we had called to cancel well within the hotels cancellation policy yet the Key West property will not refund our money.  DO NOT STAY AT THIS PROPERTY!  They are arrogant and do not understand customer service.

I stayed here for my first time this Valentines Day..   I was in heaven once we set foot into the room. The bed was sooo comfortable, I'm determined that I'm buying one, which I've discovered they have a website, so that's completely possible! The bathroom had the coolest set up with a shower level to the floor but water didn't go anywhere but down the drain.. oh the shower had a bench..or, and area to sit your margarita on while you shower! :)  Our balcony was right next to a shark tank, and in connection to the path to duval, which was awesome. Very convenient location, great rooms.. I was having fun opening and closing the safe.. it swipes :)  A little bit pricey for the night, but absolutely worth it.. I loved the set up of the room, the outside table/chairs, and the location.... and.. the shower :)  lacking the 5th star for giving me absolutely NO water pressure :(  But hey, not that big of deal... I plan on staying here next time I'm headed to the keys!!

Great location!  Just steps from most of the excitement of Key West, as well as right on the pier where a lot of performers come out at night - jugglers, magicians, music, etc.  Rooms are very nice! Bedding is awesome, rooms are well decorated. Everything seems very updated - tile bathroom, modern furniture, new amenities.  My only warning is it's not really kid friendly due to only having a tile shower - no tub for little ones.  Great for couples and older kids though.

HEAVENLY HEAVENLY HEAVENLY BEDS.  Wait did I mention the beds? OMG the beds. After a long day in the sun, on the town, in the water, that bed is like butter! Very nice hotel. Very nice service. Very nice pool. Prime location. Did I mention the beds?

Convenient to all of the happenings on Duval St. We had a harbor view, which actually had more to look at than the ocean view rooms. Very clean and helpful staff - maps, directions, parking, where to go, etc. It is the center spot for the evening sunset activity on the boardwalk - local crafts, shows (must see the housecat training guy), and drinks.

Downsides are the hefty price (although knowing what you are getting and actually getting 1st rate is worth it), and secondly,  a pretty small pool considering the size of the property.

Overall, until you find a secret spot that offers all the good stuff, this place ensures that your trip is great. No guessing, it's top notch.

I had a beautiful ocean view at this hotel. They upgraded me to a double suite (total of two balcomies, two hot tubs and 3 TVs) with a free breakfast which was very good. Unfortunatley the pool was closed when I was here but the hotel arranged use of a beach on a small island not far away. The location is decentl It's very close to where everyone gathers to see sunsets and to get to the nearby shops and bars.

Beautiful hotel well located.  Concierge came up with a flower shop that made a bridal bouquet with ONE HOUR notice when everybody else was closed.  It was excellent and she was fantastic.  Save your money so you can make a reservation (early) at Latitudes, on their private island.  Worth every penney for the setting and service alone.  Superb and great gift store.  If I could get a flight to Key West, I'd go more often.  It's a long drive.

The service does not reflect the price you spend. We spent $600 a night expecting to have a premier experience. We didn't. We'll be staying in another hotel in Key West during future visits. Which is sad, because we really like Westin hotels and go out of our way to stay at them when traveling for business or pleasure.

The view is gorgeous. The suite we had was fantastic, though a bit dated (paint pealing, different remotes for each TV, older furnishings, etc.). My only gripe is with the front desk staff. They couldn't have cared any less about us (save Erin, she rocks). We decided to elope over the weekend and upon check-in asked if the hotel wouldn't mind letting us delay our check out until noon the next day (an hour past their regular checkout time) as it would allow us to take pictures from the ceremony and come back to change out of our wedding clothes (me in my Army Dress Blues and her in her dress). They said no claiming they were booked solid and  we had to be out by 11am the next day, regardless of our beach wedding. They suggested a convoluted scheme where we give our bags to the bell hop before leaving for our wedding and then after the wedding they told us they'd "find us someplace to change."

Ok fine. No problem. I get that you're booked solid because its a Holiday Weekend. Except. You weren't. For the next morning, on a whim, we called the front desk to ask if we could get a late checkout for noon again due to the fact that we were getting married and wanted to take pictures. Thankfully, Erin answered and said it was no problem. Crisis averted.

My other qualm is the fact that we chose to dine on their exclusive private island restaurant Latitudes, located on Sunset Key. To get to the restaurant, one must take a water taxi. We asked the front desk when and where the taxi picked people up and were told "out by the pier." But never given directions to the pier itself or the berth from which the boat departed. Upon reaching the pier, I asked a Westin employee manning a pier-side bar, where we could meet the water taxi. He replied, "over there at the pier..." and pointed in the general area of the pier, but gave no further specific directions. Eventually, we wandered around and found a  rather drunk group of people who were headed to the restaurant and they thankfully told us we were in the right spot.

My issue is that this is supposed be a premier resort, and yet, I've had better general hospitality from a Holiday Inn. The Westin Staff could learn a lot from the kind Erin who answered the phone Sunday morning and delightedly granted us an additional hour's stay so that we could take wedding photos.

Starwood resorts are usually top notch, and The Westin in Key West was no exception. Phenomenal location, right at the marina and next to Mallory Square, with nice rooms and those fantastic heavenly beds. Try to climb out of one of those after a long night of partying -- good luck!

The staff at this hotel went above and beyond to take care of our large group, visiting from various places across the country and converging on this island paradise for a friend's 30th birthday. In addition to helping plan the weeks adventures, from jet ski tours around the island, to snorkeling trips and nightly dinners, the concierge team was fantastic and very helpful.

The only down side was that the pool on the property was going through a make-over and was out of service for the entire week. The silver lining however was unlimited free passes for 5-minute boat rides over to Sunset Key to enjoy the Westin's private beach and pool there. The services and amenities on Sunset Key made up for the inconvenience. And in addition to those passes, hotel management also made sure we received some other very generous perks as well.

When the wallet permits and weather gets cold in Atlanta again, I just may find myself back at The Westin in Key West, watching the sunset with a maitai in hand and a smile on my face.

Location, baby! It's a nice hotel. Comfortable room, shower, everything about it. Nice balcony with a view of the pool and even of the sunset. But it's all about the location. I mean, you're next door to Mallory Square and within walking distance of everything. And since most of the festivities by the day's end are closer to Mallory Square and that part of Duval, having this hotel right in the heart of it is a really pretty sweet. Especially if it's freakishly hot, it's nice to hop in and out of the room pretty easily, even if it's just to use the bathroom. Location, baby!

I have used this resort for several functions through the years for guests, staff and colleagues.  Service is top notch and the rooms way better than average. Everyone loves those beds and pillows.  It would get 5 stars but the pool area just is too crowded with jockeying for lounge chairs a little too challenging.  Food service and catering for large functions was again outstanding and they set us up one night right out on the harbor next to the entertainement and sunset just 1 billion miles away.  Very accomodating people and as mentioned in other posts try to get a pass to Sunset Key for beach and dining.  We will be back in May with a large group.  You can't get closer to the KW action than right here at the Westin.

Look for package deals and off season rates.

Nice location on the water, close to everything. Rooney was very comfortable, hotel service top notch.  Our room had a very noisy air conditioning unit. Couldn't sleep or hear tv when it was running. Fitness center was bad. Old and rusty equipment. Two of the 5 elliptical. Machines were broken, no towels. I'm lowering my rating because a resort this expensive should be better maintained.

Big name hotels mean bigger price tags but comfortable accommodations and very appeasing staff. Westin Key West is no exception to that theory. Everyone is friendly and more than willing to help, don't forget to tip and you will be treated as royalty. The food is overpriced but very good, the drinks are overpriced but strong, the beds are comfortable and the location is great.  At least all that money spent typically equates to a nice Key West stay.

We booked our trip to Key West about 3-4 months in advance. So of course we chose what we thought would be a luxurious resort, the Westin. We've stayed at tons of Westins, W's and Sheratons, so we know the brand very well, and know what to expect. We booked the room with rewards point. We also asked for an early check in 24 hours in advance, as is their policy.

When we arrived we were told that the rooms were not yet ready, but that they will take our name and number and contact housekeeping to let us know we were there and waiting for the room, and that they'd contact us when the room was ready. No problem. We got out our bathing suits, handed over our bags, and went to lay by the pool. (Note: The pool is much much smaller than it looks in the picture. About the same size as the pool in my backyard.) If you've never been to Key West, it's very hot and very humid. So after 2 1/2 hours, we began to feel the effects of the extreme heat, piled on top of little sleep.

We went back to the front desk at this point to check on the room. At this point it was 1 hour before their official check in. The front desk couldn't even contact the housekeeping to see if the room had been cleaned. So we decided to stay in the tiny lobby where their was air conditioning to recover and wait the hour before our room would be ready. Finally, my girlfriend started to get sick from the heat exposure, and I went back to the front desk to inquire of a new person when our room would be ready. Of course this person said that the room was instantly ready. Feeling relieved we grabbed our bags and made our way to our room.

The room was on the first floor facing the pool, which was fine, but when we walked in, we noticed that the hotel room was bland, plain, and disappointing. This room was no better than a courtyard or even a motel 6 with nicer furniture. The bath definitely was nothing Heavenly. We were very disappointed.

Thinking this was the only room available in the place and that's why we were stuck with it, despite our rewards member status, we slept there for the night. The next day, we realized that not only had half the hotel passed by our window all night and morning, but we were one of the only rooms in the entire hotel without a patio. A small thing, but on vacation, a little time on your balcony/patio is expected in a beach area.

Finally went to the front desk, just to see if they were even aware of what they'd done to us. We got Dianna. She was so very nice. She immediately asked why we hadn't complained sooner. She upgraded us to a top floor, ocean view room with a balcony right away, sent over a fridge, and mapped out the best places in town. She was pleasant, and reacted exactly as we'd hoped. We finally felt taken care of! So once we were moved, our vacation really began. We enjoyed our room very much.

Overall the Westin Resort and Marina is not the best hotel on the island (Yes we knew the more upscale Westin cottages were just a ferry ride to a small island, but these were just a bit above our budget). We were exposed to the Hyatt down the street for our dives with Southpoint Divers, and instantly were disappointed when compared to our hotel. The Hyatt had turtles walking around their own ponds, birds, a great bar, a view, and most important of all, a little area right in front of their docks where guests could have a "beach" experience, jumping in the water, chilling out, and right by the pools. We instantly wished we'd stayed at the Hyatt.

In all, Dianna made our experience enjoyable, but we wouldn't chose to go back to the Westin Resort and Marina.

The Westin Key West is a very nice resort. I thought the front desk staff was great and the resort was very clean. Being that many hotels in Key West are not very clean, this is a huge plus. The best part of this resort is the location. It's proximity to just about every major attraction can't be beat. There were only two negatives that I could think of after my stay here. The first issue was the size of the room.  My friends and I rented the two bedroom suite which is supposedly the best and largest room they have. We were a little underwhelmed when we walked in, but it wasn't a deal breaker. The only other issue was the house keeping service. They wanted to clean our room and it was already very late. At that point we just wanted to relax before heading out for the night. They just went ahead and cleaned the room while we were still in it. Other than that, we all really enjoyed our stay. This is definitely one of the better options when staying in Key West.

The Westin bed is still the best in the business. This hotel has some mileage on it due to being down in the middle of all the Key West action. You can't beat the location. The hotel staff were fantastic helping us through some minor nuisances while we were there. It's tough to beat this place for a Key West upper end hotel.

Great location! The hotel is 3-4 story in 2 buildings, so it feels more like a boutique hotel with all the service, though as others indicated - concierge seemed more helpful than reception. The balcony rooms are 2nd floor and up. The pool is small but can be relaxing away from the hustle of Duval. Oceanfront rooms can provide a sunset view, if the cruise ships aren't berthed in the way. Valet parking makes this spot a good choice.

Great hotel in a really awesome location!!!
Starwood comes through again with a hotel which certainly feels brand new (I have no idea when it was built). The smell is welcoming when you enter your building and the rooms are really nice and in good condition. My only complaint about the hotel itself is that the room was a bit small. They put two chairs by the desk, but there's no realistic room for two people to sit. Beautiful views of the sea though!!! Note that cruise ships use the dock just next to the Westin, so when the boats arrive the area gets a bit crowded.

Giving a recommendation for people interested in going to Key West, I'd really prefer recommending one of the numerous Bed and Breakfasts or the Inns which are around Duval St. You definitely don't want to be right on Duval as it can get very loud, but just off that street is best. Staying in a large chain hotel felt a bit strage in a beautiful, quaint town with a lot of really beautiful alternatives. If I were to go back, I wouldn't stay at the Westin again, but not because it's not nice, just to experience  the full feel of Key West.

We've stayed in many Westin Resorts and are Use our Starwood Card, and this is not up to par for their chain.  The location is perfect, but the hotel is not worth the price, nor would we stay here again. The rooms need to be refurbished.  The hallways are musty and some even smell of mold which they try to cover with fresheners which are overwhelming.  The carpets in the hallway are filthy. We were here for 6 days, and one day housekeeping left a pile of dirty linens in the room.  I had to ask, after 4 days, for a new plastic bag for the ice bucket, as the ice bucket was dirty in the bottom from the first day.  I had to go to the bar for ice since the ice machine was inoperable. I've stayed in Hampton Inns nicer than this hotel.  It is obvious this hotel is not being maintained properly, as the wood around our patio was rotting and in bad need of being painted.  The veneer on the table in our room is popping off the table.  $500+ a night for this???  I'm truly appalled!

We went to their restaurant, Latitudes, and had a cold breakfast.  They did comp it but what a disappointment on Christmas morning!

The plus is that they accept dogs and the staff is friendly enough.  You are right at Mallory Square and near all the Duvall Street hoopla.  You are within a mile of many great restaurants, as well, but Key West isn't that big anyway.

We would NOT stay at this Westin again.

Stayed two nights for a work trip. I know...woe is me. :)   The resort has an old FL plantation decor with shutters and large ceiling fans.  The room was nice and staff very friendly but as everyone else already noted...the location gets 5 stars!  The walking distance to Duval St and Mallory Square makes this one of the better locations in Key West.  Since I was there for work I didn't have time to lay out on the beach so the lack of a private beach area wasn't an issue. Besides, it's Key West! The whole place is a beach.

I was very pleased with this hotel. It's a franchise with the Westin name, but with the same perks for SPG members.

I found the front desk staff weird and awkward, and they didn't seem very interested in their guests. However, I only dealt with them a couple of times. The concierge was much better and helpful. The little gift shop was also nice and I bought a few things there.

The hotel is in a great location in Key West (right off Duval St where everything is), even though it doesn't have a beach like the Sheraton (which by the way, looks awful. I went to the beach where it is and it was basically empty around there).

The pool area was nice enough for sunning and hanging out and there's a great view of the harbor from the top deck bar. The food was ok, but the bartenders at the pool bar were also awkward and almost rude.

I'm going to try to make this trip a yearly thing (went with my BF for a girls' weekend). If I can afford it, I will try to get a cottage in the Sunset Key island which is also owned by this hotel. It looks beautiful, quiet, and apparently has a great restaurant and spa.

    - What a HUGE disappointment for a Westin

I came here for a mini trip last year, around July. I had a great time in the Keys and can't say the same about the hotel.

Let's talk about check in. I was disappointed at how long it took to check in. Small waiting area and one person at the front desk.

Now, let's talk about my crappy ocean view room. There was no view because the biggest palm tree was in the way. If I leaned over, I could see the ocean...kinda.  The shower was also broken and the shower head sprayed a water all over the place!!  Oh, did I mention that the cabinet had a big chunk of wood missing from the side??

I tried to report the issues but no one really cared. I left a comment card for the manager to contact me and there wasn't any response.

I love Westin's but this one was a huge disappointment.

    Never again.....what a huge waste.

On a recent trip for a wedding, my boyfriend and I had a fabulous stay! We were upgraded to an ocean view room because of Starwood status (always a plus) and our room was great. Rooms are big, showers are awesome, and the views of the sunset are amazing!
Other reviewers mentioned bad service and I'm wondering if they have tried to improve, because every employee we spoke to was very nice and accommodating. They even remembered our names and were very nice about some miscommunication on our part about checking in.
Mostly, you cannot beat the location of this hotel!! It is close enough to the restaurants, sites, and the party to be fun, but not so close that it doesn't feel peaceful. It is walking distance to everything worth doing in Key West.

Recently stayed here with my girlfriends for our annual girls' vacay.  Absolutely perfect location -- walking distance pretty much anywhere.  I must say, though, the customer service was really bad.  I've never stayed in a hotel where the staff completely ignores you if you pass in the hall or walk into the lobby; no "good morning" smile & nod or anything!  They didn't restock our rooms properly either.  It was just odd as Westins are usually pretty nice!  My friends brought pizza into the lobby and they had to face an inquisition by one of the staff about why they were there and if they were really staying there...maybe some client service re-training is in order?

There was one woman that works in the concierge part of the hotel near the gift shop -- short brown hair, I wish I knew her name -- who was always very nice and very helpful so be on the lookout for her!

What a disappointment!!! My husband and I booked a ocean view room at $450.00 a night to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. To start with, the hotel is very dirty. The carpets need to be cleaned, especially in the elevators. Our room lacked personality and we felt we were staying at the local Motel 6. There were absolutely nothing on the walls and the furniture was cheap. The carpet in the room was uneven, patched, and needed a good cleaning. The air conditioner was very noisy and the wires were exposed. The patio was small and claustrophobic. The staff at the front desk was accommodating. This hotel seriously needs to step it up!!!

This is a good hotel at a great location in Key West.

I'm typing this review from Room 324, an upgraded room overlooking the boardwalk and the ocean, with a stunning sunset view above the crowds that gather in the square below.

Everything at this hotel is great, worth a 4-star review, except for the rooms.

The rooms have recently been renovated and updated with a style I would call "modern island." It is a nice touch, but the renovations feel incomplete. For one, I'm staring at and fuzzy, old tube TV, not even one of the flat screen tube TVs from the early 2000s. It's time to update the TVs. Even the multiple Bed and Breakfasts I have stayed at here have nice new flat panel HDTVs. Also, since I checked in yesterday afternoon, I have killed three little black ants and some other small insect on the nightstand in between the two queen beds. Not a huge deal, but I think worth noting.

Additionally, the evening menu at the hotel restaurant, Bistro 245, is limited to a few salads and meat dishes with no casual sandwich options to be found, which is a disappointment when I'm not in the mood to pay $30 for a large meat entree.

Really when it comes down to it, I will still stay here again, it's a good hotel with a great location. My complaints are minor, but enough to detract from my overall satisfaction with this property.

We stayed at the Westin for 5 days in total and it was a wonderful experience.  Of all the hotels on the island, I would consider this to be the best location. It is right in front of Mallory Square and about two minutes from Duval Street. That means you can enjoy the action at Duval Street and walk back to a tranquil environment.  You definitely do not need a car during the stay, Everything you need is within a short walk.

The Front Desk was excellent. I had a few questions regarding my stay before I arrived and dealt directly with one of the Managers, Taolan Meyers. He far exceeded my expectations by answering my questions promptly and went out of his way to make sure that my stay was perfect in every way.  He is an amazing professional.

The Concierge Svetlana was also superb and helpful.  The 245 Bistro had excellent breakfast and lunches. Drinks at the pool and bar on the roof were also great.

I would recommend this resort highly and look forward to returning some day.

If you'd rather be in the "middle of it all" as opposed to on the beach, then the Westin is the perfect location.  The Westin is essentially right next to Mallory Square (where everyone gathers for the sunset) and a very short walk to Duval Street.  The location of the Westin makes walking to everything very easy, as well as making your late night drunk stumble home very convenient.

Rooms were nice and well kept.  We had a great view of the water and all of the boats/cruise ships coming and going.  Made for a great stay!

Stayed here March 15-17 with another couple.  2 bedroom suite.  We paid an exorbitant amount of money but thought it would be worth it.  We were so wrong!   Location is the only good thing about this hotel and that is questionable because the cruise ships ruin the view.  Took us 1.5 hours to get our luggage.  Room was clean, bathrooms were updated but for what we paid, we didn't expect the toliet paper holder to fall off the wall or the TV in the living room to be broken.  Well after numerous attempts by electrician, we found out it wasn't the TV;  all of the electric outlets on that side of the room were not working.  The 4 balconies were small and not connected- it was like we had 4 separate rooms.  The balcony furniture was poor quality and falling apart. The rooms need to be updated. Valet and Bell staff were friendly and helpful but front desk staff did not display the customer service attitude we expected from this level of hotel.   Stay there for the location but lower your expectations considerably if you are used to 5 star treatment.   We have stayed in several different bed & breakfasts and paid a fraction of the price in Key West that are far superior to this place.  Never again, but quite honestly, they just don't care if anyone returns or not.  The 1 star is for the location when the cruise ships are not docked.

This is a nice hotel.  The rooms live up to the Westin standards and I really love the location - right in the heart of key west!  The concierge was friendly and helped us make some reservations during our stay.  I am very glad I didn't splurge for an ocean view room because there were cruise ships blocking the view during our entire stay.  Parking is $20/day or valet for $22/day with in-and-out privileges.

All of the bars close at like 4 PM on premises except for the restaurant bar (closes at 10 PM), so basically it becomes a ghost town at night.  There is a very tiny view and you are not really close to any beaches.  You do have the option to purchase a beach pass for $20/per person per day at the private island beach (a 5 minute ferry ride across the marina).  Those were all sold out by 10 AM the day I tried to buy one.

I'm not sure if I would stay here again or not, it is very costly...

Great location!  Right by the water so you can view the gorgeous sunset, the street performers and just 2 blocks from Duval Street.  The bar (upstairs) has a great view of the sunset, friendly service and makes decent key lime margaritas.  The pool area is nice for the smallish space that it is.  The rooms are small but pretty decent with a fridge for personal use and a redone bathroom (in a Japanese style) that makes the best use of the space.  The bar downstairs (on the boardwalk) had decent sliders.  Also has free wifi and beach access to sunset key which I didn't know about until it was too late :(

Beautiful resort and super friendly staff!  I had a two bedroom ocean front suite for my bachelorette party. It was 7 of us in the room and we fit extremely comfortably. We had a lovely view of the marina and it was the perfect spot to see the sunset. when we arrived there was a cruise liner parked right in front but they were gone by sunset. They have a fitness center by the pool. Only down thing is there is no refrigerator or microwave in the suites...that would have been perfect.

Nice 4 star hotel in a fantastic Key West location. You're within 2 blocks of the Duval street madness yet far enough away that it's quiet and peaceful. The hotel is also adjacent to the Key West Sunset celebration which is a nightly street party with street performers, local artists, and local food (ie conch fritters).

Pretty decent pool as well although the layout doesn't make for the best sun bathing. Room was nice and I was upgraded to a ocean view with a small but pleasant terrace. Expect the standard uber comfortable Westin heavenly beds:)

Can't comment on price as I used star points, but would stay here again if I were to return to the southern most point of the continental US.

The location was good, walking distance to downtown and all the restaurants.
The room was okay, room size not big but not small, bathroom was tiny...

What really pissed me off was the front desk's attitude. My friend booked the hotel and she is a starwoods diamond member. Several months in advance,  we requested for an upgrade which they could not confirm, then the day before we called again, still could not confirm and told us we have to ask when checking in - which is totally fine, I mean, it was right between Christmas and New Year holiday so the demand is high.
When we checked in, we asked again for an upgrade, and here is what the manager told us: "No, we are completely booked. We are a resort so the rules are different here. I have the highest redemption rate in the US. Guess how many people I checked-in today alone that are diamond members? Over 50. And I have over 200 diamond members on my property this weekend. It's nice that you are a diamond member and chose to come to our resort, but you have to remember, I have so many other diamonds on my property, so I cannot give you an upgrade."
I mean, it's fine if you just tell us we can't get an upgrade, no big deal... the lecture was very annoying and unnecessary....

Then we asked if there was a lounge where we could get breakfast (typically starwood preferred members have privilege to lounges where they serve food and stuff)
He goes on and gives us another lecture:"Breakfast is $24. Oh, lounge? No, we don't have anything like that. Again, remember, we are a resort. I mean, you do a lot of business travel, where ever you go you usually get all these benefits like lounges and upgrades, but those rules just don't apply here."
Again, it would have been fine if he just told us that we can't get free breakfast, but no, he had to give us a lecture with his answer.
Thanks to him, we were able to start our vacation in a thoroughly annoyed and upset mood. Very disappointed with the service. I wish I got the guy's name.

I had the pleasure of being in Key West for a couple of nights at the end of March. I'd never been to Key West prior but I had stayed at Weston Hotel's. The Hotel itself is beautiful. I had a view of the pool some of my colleagues had ocean view rooms either were very nice. The outdoor bars were pretty good and the upper one is a great place to watch those Key West sunsets.

The only drawback might be that the Hotel sits on the same dock that the cruise ships dock on. It gets really busy when they let the passengers off and really noise when they call them back. Still worth checking out.

This was my first time staying at a really nice hotel in Key West after staying at roach motels the other times I vacationed there.  I was in Key West from Friday-Sunday and stayed in a suite with three other people.  The suite was big enough where we definitely didn't feel as though we were bumping into each other and the layout of the rooms was really nice.  There were a couple of balconies that we could sit on and have a beer which was a nice touch.  The suite comes with two king beds and a pull out sofa.  Since we had four people (and no one wanted to cuddle), the front desk staff sent us a cot soon after we checked in at no charge which was awesome and a nice touch.  The suite was also more modernized than some of the other locations I have stayed at.  They have free wifi throughout the entire hotel.  Why don't all the
Westin's have free internet?  I was once told that some locations give free internet access to government employees; however, I haven't found one of these yet.
The location of this hotel is very convenient and if all you are in Key West for is to party on Duval Street, you can leave your car in the garage and walk everywhere you need to go.  The hotel bar is kind of awesome and the view is spectacular.  A hotel can make or break your vacation and I was really impressed with this one.  When I visit Key West in the future, I will make sure to stay here.

Very nice hotel located at the perfect Key West location. It's a block away from Duval Street and right next to the piers. Everything is walking distance from here.

The hotel is pretty big so we had a hard time finding our room when we checked in. The room was very nice and comfortable. If you've never stayed at a Westin before, then you should just for the Westin Heavenly Beds. I travel a lot, and no other hotel beds beats it. Most comfortable beds ever. We stayed at a room with a partial ocean view and also right above the swimming pool. The view was beautiful.

Check out their swimming pool and walk around the hotel if you stay here. There are a lot of outdoor shops to buy souvenirs, etc. One of the downfall of such a nice location, is that it's also open to the public, so walking around the hotel you don't get the privacy of other hotels. Also, the other in-hotel restaurant is the Bistro 245 so there's not a lot of options to eat here.

Overall it was a nice hotel. A little too pricey though. I've stayed at other Westins were I payed a quarter of the price here. But that's what you pay for a nice Key West hotel I guess!

Went for sunset in Mallory Square. Saw the roped off tables with menu, decided to have drinks and dinner.  Approximately 50 tables with 2 servers. Arrived when it was empty, got our table, first round of drinks. Order chips and salsa to snack on. $8 for about 15 chips and a urine sample cup of salsa.  Was never able to order more drinks or dinner because of lack of staff.  Avoid this place.  Very disappointing service.  Finally went to lady at gate said I was leaving and could not find anyone to give me my check.  Amazingly the waiter showed up with my check.  Paid it and left, no tip and I've never done that before.  Don't go there if expecting service at sunset.  Very limited menu too.  Worst experience of our 5 days in Key West

As a starwood, platinum guest, I will never stay here again, not even for free. The staff are unbelievably rude, unaccommodating, and flat out bothered by actually having guest. The room I had apparently had a dog in it before who decided to urinate on the floor. It was not cleaned up, but covered by carpet fresh powder to help mask the odor. no other rooms were available to transfer us to as they were completely booked, and they couldn't actually come clean the carpet either.

The only negative is the pool needs to be colder in the summer time.

Went to Key West for the first time last week. Stayed at the Westin for the 1st part of my trip. Hotel staff let me check in early & were super friendly. Loved my room. Next to the pool, but well-insulated so I hardly heard any noise. The pillows are the best pillows ever. You can buy them online. The location is perfect. I walked to everything. Art museum located on premises & cruise ships dock next to hotel. Cool to see the different ships. Worth every penny. Will stay here again.

A GREAT hotel choice in KW!  Join the SPG program, and, if you've got it, link up to your Delta Skymiles card.  We got a sweet ocean-view upgrade!  The room was clean, the bed was a super comfy Heavenly Bed, amenities were great.

The pool and hot tub was great, with a bar and delightful bartenders walking around bringing us drinks and free fruit skewers.  And it's a perfect location, very close to Duval.  The cruise ship dock didn't bother us at all - in fact, we totally hung out and people watched.

    We'd absolutely stay here again.

I wrote a bad review last week when things were going downhill. I tweeted my concerns and the hotel responded right away. I was called by the general manager who apologized and wanted to hear more of my feedback. When I checked out, he had backed out a number of my charges. I thought that was very responsive. This really turned things around, but the hotel does need to work on it's service.

We are frequent Westin hotelers (for business and pleasure).   This place is OK.

    The bartenders are very friendly
    The pool is nice
    The exercise room is nice
    The restaurant is good
The Concierge does a nice job

Why is this place only OK?
    The staff needs experience
    1) We tried to use points and we had to go through several people before anyone knew how to do that!
    2) We asked to be upgraded on arrival and were told that due to their capacity, there weren o upgrades available for the first night (OK, no problem) but the staff said we were on the upgrade list for the second night.  I go down the next day and we are not on the upgrade list (What happened?)  We worked everything out but it should have gone much easier (we are Weston Platinum afterall).

    The facilities need some work
    1) The outside bar along the water needs alot of cleaning and repair
    2) The safe in our room didn't work
    3) the toilet paper holder was broken

They have a great location but there are a few things that they need to do to make this a 4 or 5 star resort.

You do need a gps to get around inside the hotel maze. he he. Me and my friend couldn't seem to get the direction correct.

The location of this hotel is perfect. Right in Mallary Square with gorgeous views.

The pool isn't huge, but bigger than most hotels in the island. Valet parking is over priced so I recommend parking your car yourself. Luckily I came on my bike so just locked it against a tree.

She was unresponsive and her "managers" had the same attitude, ARROGANCE. Complete disrespect for guests. It is now understood why she has her employees push the Mel Fisher Museum, Treasures, etc. is because she has a FINANCIAL INTEREST in these companies as she, Diane Schmidt, is an officer of the following:

The location is unbeatable. Book the SPA or meal at sunset key early as it books up fast. Concierge was helpful but didn't go out of their way to provide help.

My guest and I really only used the room to sleep so this review is not based on any of the other offerings such as the pool or restaurant. I booked the room the morning of my stay through hotwire. A great deal for $190+$40 in taxes/fees +$20 parking in Key West during high season. The room was clean and spacious with a mini fridge and single serve coffee maker. The door to the part of the bathroom with the toilet and shower had a heavy wood sliding door that needed its hinges oiled... made kind of a racket. Loved the modern shower with the glass doors and dual shower heads. Was surprised to see a ceiling fan, which was nice but also made kind of a racket. I probably wouldn't pay the full price to return and stay here again, but if I were to get this in a hotwire or priceline deal I also wouldn't be disappointed.

Update the next morning.   Service continues to be horrible as I have been sitting at their restaurant for breakfast for over ten minutes so far.

Bus boy brought me a glass of water.  But ten minutes later, nobody has offered me coffee or come by to take my order.  The restaurant is far from packed.  Three of for staff members are loitering in the corner having fun amongst themselves, however.   I finally just complained, and am still waiting for a waitress.

The staff here is incredibly so not worthy of the Westin name.   There is clearly no training or quality ongoing management.

And oh, yeah...  No ocean view when a new cruise ship docks in front of your balcony every morning.

I'll express the good, the bad and the ugly.  On the plus side, this hotel is ideally situated with an ocean view and the ability to walk everywhere.  Room lovely, very clean. Check in staff lovely.

Now the not so great.  Had breakfast here and was thrilled to see they had healthy choices; ordered yogurt with fruit.  Service indifferent, yogurt had so much sugar in it that it was barely edible.  Breakfast this morning better with a nice fruit platter.  If not for the really kind hostess, I would never have seen the waitress, who could have given a flying "f".

Today took the crown.  Came back at 2 and room not yet made up.  We made a call downstairs and were assured the room would be made up promptly ; my husband had a conference call at 3:30 and the room would not be available after that.  3:15, room not made up.
Cleaning staff leaves at 5 so we will not be getting our room cleaned today.

My husband calls the manager Al, who informs him that a customer request is just that; the Westin has no obligation to fulfill a request.
Way to go Al, you showed us who is boss!

3:30 getting a drink at pool. Young waitress let me know my drink order was a bother.

This is why we are gold members at Marriott, which cares about their guests.

I stay in hotels weekly for work and am a platinum ambassador with Starwood.  We also come down to key west every year for our summer trip.  Normally we rent a house in Truman annex, but the dates of our trip changed last minute this year and we had to do a hotel.

I had a great time at the Westin Key West.  We arrived at 4am and the staff were waiting and ready to help us with our bags, valet the car, and get us checked in quickly.  We did get upgraded, although the layout of the hotel is a bit odd and so we got the last room in the main building, which was a 5 minute walk from the entrance.  Oh well,  not really going to complain too much.

We had an ocean view when cruise ships weren't in port, but even when they were, they always left by 7pm so we could see the sunset.  The rooms facing the water have little porches; a great way to end the day is sitting on those porches with a bottle of wine and watching the sunset.

The pool is small, but adorable.  The best thing about it is you can get $9 drinks.  I mean, seriously, that is dirt cheap and the drinks were great.  We had piña colatas, margaritas, run runners, vodka sodas, and beer.  Just to give you a comparison, any one of those drinks runs you about $25 at the W south beach pool.  This and the view will at least be a point of discussion when planning our trip next year.

The exercise room is a bit small, but then again not many people were using it.

The location is fabulous as it is only steps from Duval.

By the way, yes, I do recommend the Mel fisher museum.  My husband and I always do one cultural locale on each visit and since we were right next door we did this one.  I learned quite a bit more about the list treasure and Mel fisher's life, and the science behind ocean archeology.

Nice hotel but really overpriced. We booked on hotels.com and paid about $250 for one night.
You should expect everything here in key west to be ridiculously expensive though. You're paying for the lack of space and amenities available  on the island.

One big downside - there are 2 separate buildings so we had to lug our stuff from the parking garage across the courtyard and to the far building which was very inconvenient.

Our room was nice, and clean but the bathroom definitely smelled like mold/ sourness. I think it was the shower curtain.

The pool is located by our far building area so that was a nice plus. They had a small restaurant and bar area, we didn't use either but it's nice to be able have a snack or a cocktail. But I suspect they are totally overpriced too.

All in all, we stayed here one night so we could walk to restaurants and bars to drink  and then walk back to the hotel. The location is the best part of staying at this place.

It was also nice to walk around the outdoor "mall" area but I was surprised that there were quite a few empty retail stores. We also got to see the giant crisis ships coming in and out of port.

We probably would not spend the money to stay here again. The lack of great quality and the over high price makes you feel a bit ripped off.

You're better off staying off key west and just driving in from the lower keys or marathon.

Can't say enough about the perfect service here. I stay at Starwood hotels for business trips often, and this is one of my favorites. From the time I checked in to the time I left, everything was amazing. The valet was fast, efficient and extremely professional, the reception was quick and courteous and offered water. They even walked with me a bit to find my upgraded room (thanks to the Starwoods status). The Bistro restaurant's food was great as well as everything else I tried at the resort. The room was very large with everything I needed.

The westin operates a restaurant called "sunset pier". It was terrible. Location is awesome to watch the sunset. Service was bad. There were tons of servers just hanging around and not tending to their tables. The specialty margarita was ok. The strawberry daiquiri was made with dark rum. The rum was not blended an was just dumped on top of the cup. It tasted like plastic. I have had better chain restaurant spinach artichoke dip.

They would not honor the discount from checking in. I was told that it was for the other "Sunset Pier" restaurant down the street...sounds interesting that any business would have a competitor with the exact same name next door. What a load of crap.

Took an overnight trip to Key West. Got a "deal" on a room online. Just a note parking in the garage is 20$ a night (reg 48). The great thing about this hotel is that it's walking distance to everything. Mallory Square, which is known for street performers and sunset watching, was right in our backyard. We had an ocean view and balcony which was nice. The beds are super comfortable with down pillows and room was cozy and clean. Didn't care for shower head, no real pressure, which is a must for me and my beau. Also the entrance lobby had a horrible smell, but no biggie. Service is friendly. It's in a super convenient , so if you can afford it, I would recommend it. Room with parking, over 200$ for an overnighter.

I booked a reservation through expedia for the Key West Westin Hotel this week. I  checked the rates on Expedia later in the week and found that the rates had been lowered by 60.00/night  for the same room. I called both Expedia and Westin to see if they would honor the lower rate. All they did was give me excuses why they couldn't lower the rate, nor upgrade me to a better room. I'm frustrated and feel cheated. I will never use Expedia, or book a room at a Westin. The were just so uncooperative. I couldn't believe it. Oh and that lowest price guarantee on Expedia........forget that.

Next day after being very frustrated....Thank God in all this there's a person with SANITY associated with one of these 2 companies (Westin/Expedia). I spoke to Jennifer at the Westin Key West, she agreed to waive the cancellation fee and rebook a suite a little higher price than I originally paid for a much smaller room, and it does have an ocean front view. I will be asking for her manager when I arrive in Key West to let him/her know what a great employee they have. I will NEVER use Expedia again. She turned a 1 star experience to a 5 star experience. BTW Expedia is still ZERO stars.

Do not waste your money on this place!  We had a two night stay November 2014. Check-in was not as expected. We travel often and upon arrival the front desk person should review a few things. Tell you were the pool is and explain items that are included or not. Things like that. None of this was done they only gave me the room key and told me the room number and how to get there. We checked our bags before getting into our room so we had to ask if we could get our bags or if someone would bring them up. Once inside the room more disappointment. We stayed in a two bedroom suite. When you are paying for a suite you expect things to be in good condition. The air conditioner was not keeping the living room cold we had to have someone come to service it. The shower head in one of the bathrooms was so powerful it hurt to take a shower. We asked for it to be fixed and nothing was done.  The paint in the bathroom needed to have a fresh coat. There were spots that were touched up with the wrong color it looked awful. The sink faucet was not installed properly as you can see the hole cut into the granite in the picture. We asked the front desk about the ferry to latitudes restaurant and the man was nasty and rude. Upon checkout they had the wrong amount that I paid for the deposit. I was not given a bill and then asked to pay. I was told what was owed and the I looked around the counter on the screen to see my bill because it seemed too high. I saw they had my deposit at $395 when I paid $790. That's a big difference. The only answer I received was there were to sides in the computer that they put my deposit on. I have no idea what they were talking about. Horrible customer service. Explain things tell me what your doing. I'm not asking for much. I will not be back here. This was not my first stay here. We were here back in 2003 in November and it was fine then.

We knew cruise ships come in and out of this place that block your view. So we were happy with the view of the marina and ship. Once the ship left the view was even better.   The pool bar is great ask for David he knows his stuff. Friendly and a pleasure to talk to.  The deck above the pool bar is great for sunsets when the clouds don't roll in. The bistro below was perfect for on the water dining for breakfast.   You only need a few nights because this area is small. A great weekend overall. We met someone at the pool who suggested blue heaven for dinner! Wow. Go there you won't be disappointed. It's just under a mile from the hotel. Distance .8

I am writing this review when I am still stay in this hotel. Wow, I have to say this is a hotel I will never come back, when the first time I walked in the room, a very strong bad smell come out, musty!  Wow, that was really bad, Mood??? Wet and no air go though..... compared mandarin original hotel I stayed last night in Miami, I feel I need upgrade my room. however, my lazy boy friend backed out(True, it is a hassle to switch hotels) whatever, only 2 nights, I will force myself to stay.

By the way, the lady was rude in the phone, I could see she spoke with a bad attitude when my boyfriend tried to ask whether we could spend $299 for the second night(Again, I hate pack all the clothes), plus we really like Key West's pretty. When my boyfriend told her that we are going to call her back, you know what? she handed up the phone hardly. Wow...... what a surprise.

Honest with the same price, I will consider Haytt and other hotel. Again, will never come back, my fault to cheap out this time. You got what you spend for.

My boyfriend just said customer service horrible, if you are a customer who really stay on 4 star to 5 star hotel in general.

It's a Westin. The beds are heavenly and the there are a few small perks. For the price I expected much more. The concierge were very young and sweet, but clearly the management is not overly concerned with proper training. Others have written truths about the views... Our suite is designed so oddly - an oversized room with wasted space and a little tiny bathroom. They are banking on their great location with little to no attention to detail. We haven't had a bad experience here, but Westin can do better. It's sad.

I am a platinum SFG member and stay at Westins practically weekly for work.  So I was disappointed by this Westin - it doesn't measure up to the other locations.  The oceanview is often blocked by cruise ships. The furniture is shabby and chipped, the carpet stained and dirty. The pillow was stained.  The wifi intermittent. Our toilet broke and took two calls to maintenance to fix it. I'm not sure what the resort fee gets you, because I didn't receive anything worth $25 a day.

Had come down for Memorial Day weekend. And I must say it's one of the best resorts I would highly recommend. The staff was very obliging and they even changed our room for ocean facing that costed like $30 which is pretty fine. Rooms are kept really really clean very well arranged and all amenities needed u will end up finding all in ur room. In fact we had lost our keys we got it replaced less than 2 mins.
Yes it is overpriced but worth the money u pay for. And yes the Fury adventures are right behind the hotel so u don't have to travel far.
Yes and if u want to rent out on bikes or any kind of query u can jus ask the staff members and they will guide u till ur satisfied for what u have asked.
I had a lovely time here. Hope u would too.

Their S&R dept. was correct, UPS added my 1st name and my cell phone number to our shipping label. They read my 1st name and saw that the reservation was cancelled however They didn't call my cell nor did they look to see that an SPG member with the same name was checking in a day later(or soon). So they turned the box around within 24hours. Just in time for us to land in their state.  Our room came complete with dust bunnies on the ceiling. Mold in the shower stall. No bath tub and cruise ship docked out front of the hotel that were 6-10 stories Taller than the hotel.   We have been SPG members since 1999. Over all 3 day vacation instead of 6Night 7days.Thank you Starwood Hotels. We learned our lesson our Vacation are to important to trust to a SPG Hotel.

Everything is good about the place, except for one thing, the concierge BECKI.

One fine morning, I wake up just to get in early and get the limited private beach pass. She would not have taken more than 2 min to explain about it, when I asked her to re-iterate as I found some things unclear. Her face was red with fury and in a stern and hard voice she spoke a few lines saying 'which part of this is not clear'. She picked up a paper in front of me, crushed it with her hand in anger and threw it in dustbin. I was appalled. My whole day was ruined because of her. If you are in customer facing job and cannot even explain for 2 minutes, forget it.

Will be going to key-west again next year but am surely going to stay in any hotel other than this one. Hey Manager, are you listening???

I looked at other reviews and seems like I am not the only one. LOLz. I guess the hotel needs some serious clean-up of people.

Great Location!  We had an Oceanfront room with a great view of the Pier and Harbor.  Cruise ships were to our right so they didn't obstruct our view.  The bistro restaurant for breatkfast was very good and not crazy expensive.  We also enjoyed having dinner there and watching the sunset.  Our air condioner was a little noisy but we were able to sleep with no problem.  Loved the location and would not have wanted to stay at any other location.

Our stay at the Westin was nice, we booked an Oceanfront 1-bedroom king suite and were surprised once we checked-in that our room was huge, much larger than the description. The lady who checked us in said it was a super nice room but we thought she probably said that to everyone, they gave us room #380 which is an oceanfront corner suite on the top floor (#3), it has a gorgeous view of the water, it has a large bar area with mini fridge and plenty of cabinets, an entrance way, living room, large dining room area, a huge balcony with 2 chairs to access from the living room and a separate standard balcony with 2 chairs adjacent the bedroom, a large bathroom with a large Jacuzzi tub and a separate glass-door shower. Looking at all the other balconies at the hotel this has to be one of the largest rooms at the resort, we were very happy when we first arrived, the views from the balconies and windows are breathtaking, the robes were very comfy. The room size and views were awesome.

Then we started noticing the not so great....

    - No HD TV, on top of this, the larger TV in the living room was very fuzzy like in really bad reception, I called the front desk to have it serviced, the repair man came to fix it just as we were heading out, when we returned it looked the same, I guess the repair man couldn't fix it, but no one followed up with us, I didn't push the issue since we are not here to watch TV, but still it was very disappointing. The smaller TV in the bedroom has a slightly better picture however again no HD, the TV was really far away from the bed so being that it was a small flat panel it was hard to watch from the bed.

    - AC Wall Units - Our room had 3, one in the living room, one in the dining room and one right next to our bed. They were controlled by 2 wall thermostats, but they were wall units non the less, and they were very noisy, especially the one just inches away from the bed.

    - Room Blinds (or lack-of) - The bedroom only had regular blinds over the window and a little skinny cloth drapey panel over center of the glass balcony door, every morning lots of light come through the blinds and glass door, I mean seriously, hotel bedrooms should have curtains to make it dark if you want to sleep in, I am a very light sleeper so between the noisy AC Wall Unit inches from my head and all the light coming through I was up at dawn every morning! VERY ANNOYING since I wanted to REST and catch up on sleep. Total Fail.

    Random small stuff:
    - 2 of the bathroom lights didn't work during our entire stay, shouldn't housekeeping notice this kind of stuff?
    - Bathroom sink faucet was kind of broken, it appeared to be rigged to turn off at a weird angle, I would expect this type of hotel to replace or fix the fixture.
    - The bar stool cushions were stained, not very appealing.
    - The mattress cover was lumpy
    - The bed sheet over the mattress was very wrinkly, even the sides were crinkled stiff
    - The card key lock to get into our floor took multiple tries to work, everyone we encountered in the elevator asked if we were also having issues getting the thing to work.
    - Ocean front view - During almost an entire day there was a huge Carnival Cruise Ship docked in front of us, blocking the beautiful ocean view.
    - Housekeeping - Did the minimum necessary, didn't wipe counters, or properly vacuumed the carpet.
    - Cheap thin Toilet paper
    - Strong (too much) air freshener odor in the hallways (cover up mildew?)
    - SUPER LOUD Pressure cleaning of outdoor floors outside of everyone's balconies started at 7am on Labor Day Monday, really?!
    - Customer Service - We decided to extend our stay by an extra night, we booked the reservation and even called the front desk to confirm. We weren't warned that our keys would be deactivated at the end of the original reservation and that we needed to get our keys re-programmed, an unnecessary hassle since we couldn't figure out why the keys didn't work once we returned to our 3rd floor room, the guy at the front desk who re-programmed our keys knew this would happen, why couldn't they give us the heads up? Save us the time and unnecessary hassle.
    - Pool bar - LAME, they don't have any music, NONE, even when I asked if he could turn music on he said they don't have music at the Pool bar, the bartender was very nice but he was also very slow taking and preparing drink orders.

    The Good:
    - Location!!! Super close to all the hot spots: Duval, Mallory Square
    - The ocean views!!!
    - The Sunset view from our balcony
    - The Pool
    - Large Room size
    - Great shower water pressure
    - Comfortable bedding
    - Comfortable slippers and robes
    - Mini-fridge
    - Reasonable pool bar drinks (~$9)
    - Overall it's a nice resort

This was our first time staying at the KW Westin, and honestly we expected higher quality which is why I pointed out so many things that bothered us. But overall we did have a nice stay, so if you know what to expect and don't come with 5 star quality expectations, then this resort is great.

Great location to stay in Key West. 2 blocks from Duval St. The Westin Hotel Wharf is the start of the all the activities to the Sunset Pier. Next door are a couple of Museums. The rooms are big and spacious. The staff was great.

At check in,  the people working the desk handed me a key then handed the bellhop the key packet and sent us to the room. The bellhop was awesome. Unfortunately the guy behind the desk failed to offer us the free water that my wife had to read about. He also failed to tell us about the free orange juice in the morning,  the free mojitos in the afternoon and there was no information about connecting to WiFi. This is just the beginning.

Once in the room,  we discovered that just because you pay extra for waterfront,  it doesn't mean you have a good view of the water.  If you're on the ground floor your views will probably be obstructed by a cruise ship.  Or maybe the moving bar they parked outside of our room during the sunset festival. You will have most of the tourist walking the boardwalk outside of the room as well.

The first morning we decided to step out onto our patio. At this time I noticed that our patio door wasn't locked. Having a ground floor room this is serious. The door wouldn't lock.  We decided to leave the room because we were on vacation and honestly didn't feel like sitting around the room waiting for the maintenance man. We stopped by the room 3 hours later to find the door still unsecured. I went to the desk for the second time and was assured the problem had been resolved. I let them know it hadn't been so once again they offered me another room. At this point if I were to have to pack my bags I would have changed hotels. Skipping forward, the third time we waited for the maintenance men to show. One of the guys couldn't get the door to lock, but the other guy got it locked.  It really stinks to have a patio that you can't use. Especially when it costs extra.

There are many other places to stay on Key West, do yourself a favor and chose anywhere but here. The only reason I rated this place a one star is because I couldn't select zero stars.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights - December 22nd and 23rd during our trip of Miami and Key West. I used my Starwood Membership Points for these 2 nights. Being able to use my points was fortunate as hotels were posting prices of at least $350/night given the time of the year and the relative limited availability of hotel rooms in Key West.
What we liked most about the place is the location of this hotel. If you want to stay near the heart of Key West, it is hard to do better than staying at the Westin Key West Resort and Marina. It is 3-4 minutes away from Duval Street and perhaps a minute away from Mallory Square. And without doubt, those are the places that you would like to hang out during a trip of Key West.
We also liked the folks at the front desk and found them quite helpful. The morning we checked out of the hotel, we  left our luggage with them to pick it up later on. When we came back, although we had checked out already, we were still able to use towels from the pool area to dry ourselves given that there had been a downpour shortly before. They also provided us with ponchos to use.
Finally, the hotel has a nice pool and hot tub - one that we did use during our stay.
There are few downsides that come to mind. We did notice cruise ships stationed right next to the hotel on the pier and if we had an oceanfront room, then the sight of the cruise ships would certainly have been an annoyance. Also, all the rooms of the hotel are not a part of the same building and so to get to our room, we had to leave the building where the reception was and get into the building where our room was. That said those are relatively minor distractions
from what is otherwise a nice hotel. Would I stay again at this property? Yes, I would certainly give this place a thought. The location and the staff certainly made an impression in my minds.

We stayed at the Westin on our first visit to Key West and it was fantastic.  The location is great for two reasons: 1) you have a prime spot for the amazing sunset; and 2) you are just steps from Duval Street and lots of the bars and restaurants in New Town.

The hotel was clean but, like any party town, it showed some wear from the party crowd.  We found a ping pong ball in our room which I assume was from an epic game of Beer Pong.

We originally booked our room through Priceline (4 star; New Town) and our "bid" was accepted for the Westin.

There is a really nice pool too and, yes, you will be charged a $25 resort fee at checkout.  There is also a parking garage on site (open to public too) and it is either $20 per night (self parking) or $22 per night (valet).

The Westin is also located at the marina so there might be a cruise ship in town in the morning, but they leave around 4pm.  You can check the cruise ship schedule on the Key West town website.  That is important because the sunset view from the Westin is second to none.  There are hundreds of people that gather on the marina near the hotel to watch the sunset.  And if you have an ocean front room with a balcony, you can have your own private party to watch the sunset without trying to camp out for a spot.

We loved this hotel and would definetly come back.
