Great service, excellent super clean rooms could even smell the clean bleached white sheets.  The bedding was so clean that it felt like we were sleeping in our own bed at home, that's how clean it was.  Big complements to the house cleaning department.  Valet guys was very knowledgeable of the area when we asked them for recommendations.  Front desk was super polite and sweet.  The hotel bar was friendly and inviting.  Overall, probably the best hotel we stayed in ever and we have stayed in many hotels all over the country.  Comes with continetal breakfast, the best we ever seen.  It was not one of those cookie cutter breakfast bars, dry cereal and toast that you get at most places, the place hooked you up with full on breakfast, ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!!  Serve yourself and gorge down with all the food.  It was so good that it made me feel ashamed not paying for it, but it came with our room.  So think of this way, we pay for parking ($25 US per day) and we just get back in the form of FREE BREAKFAST, so take advantage of it.  We loved this place so much that we had to let the front desk know how we feel about their hotel.  We definitely RECOMMEND this place and we would come back here for sure in the future!!!!! Great job!!!!!

This review is for the Martini Bar only. The bartender mixed one of the best martinis of my life and then charged me one of the highest prices in my life. The total was $27 for 2 martinis (before tip). Even coming from San Francisco, that's really expensive!

This is a good place to stay all-around, and I have a heightened appreciation after staying at a nightmarish place last weekend.
The rooms are small but cute, and there's not a ton of frills. But the pluses are that it's very quiet even though it's a great location right in the middle of South Beach, the staff are very friendly helpful with directions and advice, and all around it's a very good value for the price.

The only problem we had was that the bathroom door wouldn't shut and despite several requests, the staff never fixed it during the two nights we were there. Oh well, there are so much worse things.

Our stay at the Blue Moon Hotel (just one night last week) was an enjoyable experience.  The wait staff was incredibly friendly (almost freakishly so), and our room was clean.  We were upgraded to a "suite", which included a living room type area, along with our bedroom, and two bathrooms - and we didn't even realize we had a second bathroom until our last day.  It's in a great location, and the martini bar really is wonderful.  Yes, the drinks are expensive, but I didn't really expect anything else.  I highly recommend giving this hotel a chance.

Like all the other small art deco hotels in the area the rooms here are small and sparse. For what we were doing that week - shopping, partying and sunning ourselves on the beach- the size of our bed didn't really matter as long as the sheets were clean and the a/c was pumping.

I can say however that the location is excellent and the staff here was supremely helpful. The front desk clerks were always willing to help us with directions, restaurant suggestions, and even airline reservations. While speaking some Spanish helped with the maids and handyman (when we got locked out of the room/asked for extra towels) but all the front desk people were great in either language. Everyone working here from the bartender to the maid to the hotel manager was very polite and eager to help.

Mandatory hotel service charge covers towels, wifi, happy hour and breakfast so if you take advantage of these things it comes out ok. Most rooms are queens but they do have some rooms with two twins if you request in advance.

Stayed here for a last minute business trip this past weekend. The hotel is just okay, which I blame on age more than anything. There is a musty smell throughout the hallways, the walls are paper thin (hearing the neighbors getting "busy" at 2 in the morning was just lovely), the a/c was crazy loud, and the faucet dripped.

I hit my head a couple times while washing my face. There was a shelf above the pedestal sink, but it was so low and hung so far over the sink, it was nearly impossible to rinse my face with water without splashing it all over the floor or creaming my forehead on the shelf.

There were some pluses: $5 off drink coupons each day, free continental breakfast with waffle bar (YUM!), and robes in each room.

I probably won't stay there again, but if you're young, going to South Beach to party, this place will work just fine.

Only rating the bar.....

I must agree with my husband's previous post.....one of the best martinis of my life...and the most expensive.

I loved the atmosphere and the bartender was very friendly.  But, I've had martinis just as good elsewhere, at half the price.

I'm only giving 4 stars because of the price.  If I were rating on the quality of the martini only, I'd give it 5 stars.

Thought was going to be a good hotel when I booked, since it got good reviews and was supposedly 4 stars.

2 disappointments the minute I checked into the hotel:

1.  All standard rooms had only 1 king size bed, no choice of 2 queen beds.  I understood why, once I saw the room, its ridiculously small -  the bed basically takes up the whole room, with very little walking space.  (my own fault I guess when booking the hotel for not checking on this)

2.  There was a $10 per day resort and amenities fee which I was not aware of when booking the hotel.  I declined to initial next to that, and they did not charge me upon my departure.

Other disappointments while staying at the Blue Moon:

1.  NO ICE MACHINE on any of the floors.  You basically have to call room service and have them bring u up ice.  I don't like to feel obligated to tip a bell hop every time I need ice.  (which was often because all of our beverages we needed to keep cool since there are no refrigerators in the rooms.)

2.  The Safe battery was dead, I had to call maintenance to fix it.  After several follow up calls, they finally came about an hour later.  (An hour more I could have been at the beach.)

3.  This totally put a bad taste in my mouth and will never stay there ever again because of this.  Upon check out, we where waiting in the lobby with all of our luggage for a taxi to ride us to the airport.  So, while waiting I was eating some left over cold pizza (hotel had no microwave for me to heat my food up).  Some guy in plain clothes (no identifiable uniform, saying he was an employee of the hotel) approaches me and asks: "Are you a guest of this hotel"?  I respond, "yes for the last 5 days but i'm leaving right now".   He then proceeds to tell me that there is no outside food allowed to be consumed in the hotel lobby unless it is hotel food.  I'm like ok, so I walk outside in the rain, right in front of the front door and finish my pizza.  So, this A Hole comes outside and tells me Sir, I"m very sorry you cannot eat outside eighter.  I went off at this point on him, I said "Are you kidding me?  I just spent 4 nights here , between myself, my cousin, and friend we gave your hotel over $1,200, and your telling me I can't eat some pizza in the lobby or outside of the hotel'?   What a great way to piss off a customer after staying 4 nights there.

Other than those things to be fair, these are the pros:

1.  Free Wi-Fi

2.  Staff and Service was 4 to 5 star.  (Minus the doocebag that said I couldn't eat pizza in the lobby) whoever he was.

3.  Rooms were fairly clean.

4.  I like the water jug mixed with a bunch of fresh fruits in the lobby.  Pretty tasty free water.

My husband and I stayed here while in Miami and were more than pleased with this hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff was exceptional. Shawn at the front desk, and Alfredo, the bellman provided us with superior service. The location is central to everything and at an amazing price.I highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Stayed @ Blue Moon twice & appearance/ cleanliness has improved since becoming a Marriott property. The front desk staff is friendly & welcoming (except Ann). The location can't be beat.  Note- no longer complimentary breakfast or welcome drinks.

Ah, the Blue Moon.

Aside from the creepy 2x2 1920's elevator, this place was awesome.

Two blocks from the the gorgeous beach. Great breakfast buffet, cute pool area (but you're so close to the ocean you really won't need it), and clean rooms with good snacks & booze (all $2 - $6) for picking on.

...The best part honestly is that even though it's in SoBe, it's really quiet at night and you can sleep with no problem. I used to live in Miami, and it really is a problem to find a good hotel in the area with this feature. That cheap thrill, combined with the great customer service gets this place 5 Stars.

Little Hidden Costs (that are really no big deal)

$7 "Spa" Resort fee: You get unlimited free towels, cool beach chairs, discount drink tickets, robes, and free breakfast everyday.

$30 per day valet fee: You can take you car in and out as much as you please without a long wait or a hassle. I recommend calling the desk downstairs before getting ready to go out so it's waiting for you by the time you're done.

This is not a 4 star hotel. Rooms are small. Deluxe queen size means full size bed. Got chilly one night, they had to bring in a portable heater because the room heat didn't work. The shower was "designed" to not have a curtain, which means the floor gets wet when u use it. Free wifi, but didn't reach our room. $10 per day for a breakfast that is worse than any free breakfast at any cheap chain hotel. And to top it all off, no soundproofing, so if u want to get intimate, ya better make like giraffes (google that).

Would not recommend.

A great hotel close to the action on ocean street but a block away.  Sadly there is construction on the street so it's a little hectic. The hotel was very neat and up to date.  We stayed three nights.  The check In staff can vary. Our first night the guy was so cold and rude. Ok it was 2am thanks to flight delays but still.  The valet parking spot is around the corner and sometimes the spots are full call the hotel and they'll send someone out. The door man David was so charming and helpful. The housekeeping staff needs some attention, our rooms were not made up until well after 2pm and it took over an hour to get an extra towel when we only had one in one of our rooms.   We stayed one night in old side and two on new side.  New side is more up to date.  There are no views so don't plan on it.  Overall a nice stay and I'd recommend this hotel.  Just a note to hotel, work on the housekeeping and have your front desk be a little more alert. We did mention the rude first night check in service and were told they would take care of us but I think they forgot.

Our stay at the Blue Moon was nice and enjoyable. Check-in was quick and easy. The staff here were very friendly, and even gave us a complimentary upgrade when we checked in. Our room was nice, clean and airy, and not too noisy even though we were on the second floor overlooking the main street.

The location was great-- the hotel is surrounded by other small art deco hotels and located two blocks from the beach, shopping, and one block from all the restaurants.

I would stay here again. Great for couples, but not for families or large groups.

Stayed here for 5 days in June and loved it.  Location, location, location!  Close to everything you need to have a great time!

We stayed 1st floor across from check in.  Beds comfy.  Great funky vibe.  And yes, quiet enough to sleep.  Did not have any issues hearing people in next room.  As far as I knew we were the only ones here   : )  Also did not smell as mentioned earlier.  Staff was friendly and helpful.

This hotel has a spa pool which was relaxing to follow up on business phone calls by.  A block away from fabulous frozen drinks of Wet Willys!  (I highly recommend the Chocolate Thunder Monkeyshine) and the beach.  Yes, stop grab a drink and cross the street to the magnificent beach!

Now that my daughter has relocated to Miami I will quiet happily be a frequent guest here!

Great place for 2-3 nights. Last year we were in Winterhaven hotel. The same quality (clean rooms, nice service, superb location) but the rooms are a little smaller and Winterhaven has newer Bathrooms.  We paid $120 less so it  wasn't  problem. Nice place.
I will consider this place for our next Miami Beach trip.

Bar is great! Free WiFi and decent pricing! Forget Ocean Drive, Collins is where it is at.

Rooms are small, but clean and it is the charm of the hotel is that pulls you in. The staff is great and helpful, multilingual, and know the ropes around town. Great boutique hotel and the location on a quieter street in the heart of the action is worth it!

Dec 20 update:
BEFORE going out into South Beach speak to John at the bar to know where to go to eat and where to avoid so you don't end up paying 25 buck for a margarita with dinner. Was in there the other day and some tourist got taken on Ocean Drive by the "buy one get one free" offer. It's no deal trust me!

Best bet get a real mojito from John before eating out. Then come back for more!

This is a clean 75 room hotel located in prime SoBe on Collins Ave. Kind of a diamond in the rough. Two blocks from beach and one block from clubs, bars, and lounges. You are literally in the middle of everything. The staff was very friendly (Roberta, LC and Frankie) greeted me every time I returned and ensured my stay was pleasant. A doorman (not a dedicated one) was there around the clock to open the door. There is a pool with a covered deck and a restaurant in case you want to stay in. My room was pristine white, king size bed and with a nice bathroom (cool light grey wooden floor). There is a oscillating fan, in case you don't want to keep the AC on the entire time, to keep the room cool. oh and the windows open, so you're able to bring in some fresh air. I would recommend to anyone.

As a local, I go to the bar a lot. Love this place. Great ambiance and not tourist overkill of Ocean Drive.  Still enough happening on Collins.

John is an awesome bartender! Tell him what you are in the mood for and he will hook you up.  HIs mojitos are famous around here!  Good martinis, good prices for South Beach drinks. $5 PInnacle specials....

We have stayed there and it was great- clean, comfortable, boutique hotel sizing... just what you need.  The pool is a jacuzzi pool surrounded by palm trees.... great little oasis day or night.

Please Read Before Judging by the 3 star rating!!!

This hotel is totally clean, remodeled, in a great location, and is by far 100 times better than the hotels on Ocean Drive.  I would recommend this hotel regardless of the below listed issues.  I would also stay here again because I believe the issues I experienced, can possibly be directly related to the remodeling (at least some) so I would be willing to give them another shot.

Here are the set backs (which can be less of an issue for some than others):
-Service was a balance between the evening and morning crews.  Some were great and showed great urgency in resolving any issues that came up, while others either pretended to want to get it resolved but dismissing it as soon as you walked away.
-rooms were super clean and nicely remodeled.  The issue is that the construction was unfinished.  Non-existent soap dish, non-existent toilet paper dispenser, non-existent towel hook, non-working iron, loose and unsafe hair dryer.  (kudos to the front desk person for at least attempting to make me happy by getting someone out to put in a soap dish).
-Noise was an issue.  Construction was starting too early and ending too late.  When I approached the front desk, apparently they checked with the construction crew and determined that they started before their 9am time.  So they credited me the resort fee.  It was greatly appreciated and they handled the feedback well.
-The day bartender was wonderful.  No attitude, easy going, and lively.  The evening bartender (John) was obnoxious, a bit rude, in a rush to leave, and wasn't very accommodating.  I was tempted to tell him how much business my fiancée gives the hotel, but I decided to just let my fiancée tip him as he would a bartender with bad customer service (normally my fiancée simply tips 50% of bill I.e. $100 bill = $50 tip).  In this particular instance he tipped $4 for 3 drinks totaling $60 (very unlike him but he was pretty upset at the service).

During our trip to Miami, we stayed at the Blue Moon Hotel.  The location is great!  Located on Collins in SOBE only 2 blocks from the beach and near many restaurants and shops.  Rooms were more spacious than what you would expect from hotels in the area.  The hotel is small, but cute!  The staff here is very nice.  We felt welcomed by the front staff from the moment we walked in.  I love when hotels are already expecting you and check in is fast! :-)  One night, we got unexpected rain right before we were heading out the door & our doorman let us borrow an umbrella. +1

The beds were also comfy, rooms quiet, and we were able to get a nice nights rest (see my Hotel Chelsea review!).

Like most hotels in the area, the hotel is older but you wouldn't know it except for the really old 1920's elevator.  You know the iron gated ones that you have to manually crank open & close.  It was pretty cool & reminded me of old horror movies.  Needless to say, we took the stairs during the rest of our stay.

They did have a complimentary continental breakfast until 10pm.  We only got up in time to try it once.  Nothing exciting, except the belgium waffle maker was nice, but some fruit would have been a nice addition to their breakfast spread.

Bottom Line: I would stay here again & would also recommend it.

You probably won't be unhappy you stayed here...the location is prime, the place is clean, the staff is nice, our room was nice & decorated stylishly, and the price was pretty reasonable. But, you probably won't be blown away either. I was particularly bummed that the jacuzzi was not working and there wasn't a pool...or, maybe that was just a really, really small pool??? I never did see a soul sitting in the bar.

When I checked out the stellar hotels in the area, I came down with serious case of hotel (and pool) envy when I walked into The National. I was a bit pained when I found out the rate was actually less than Blue Moon's...not sure how the room would have compared, but the pool kicked some serious butt. I will definitely stay here if I am lucky enough to come back to South Beach...

What a gem! The location is perfect, right on 9th & Collins, a block away from the beach.  I got a great price booking on Expedia.  The staff was just lovely...very friendly and attentive.  The splash pool was cute especially at night.  The room was super quiet and clean.  I was in the the wing that was being remodeled.  I felt like I was the only one there which was a plus.  I enjoyed sitting on the front veranda and enjoying the night air with a drink and people watching.  For SoBe, this is a great find!

I've been to more than a few of the hotels up and down Collins Avenue, mainly stick to the South Beach Group hotels, but prefer being on Collins to Ocean Drive.  Hotels can be anywhere from $100-$200 cheaper per night for a 1 block walk...sold!

Anyhoo, was heading down to Miami for a quick weekend birthday and had trouble finding a place last minute.  Stumbled upon the Blue Moon Hotel's website and took a chance on a great room price, as I was already familiar (at least) with the location of the hotel.

Needless to say, I was presently surprised...and will keep this hotel on my radar for future trips (if the price is right).  The staff was pleasant and helpful, the rooms were on par with other Collins Ave. hotels, and we were charmed by the layout of the 2 "wings" of the hotel.  Great bar area, quaint little "splash pool" (what do you want?  go to the beach, not the pool), and free wi-fi b/c I have to be connected at all times.  The free beach chairs were a nice touch (with a convenient cooler pouch) and the breakfast/snacks they lay out for guests were enough for us to get by on.  Can't "rave" about the breakfast, but it was a welcome addition nonetheless.

A quick 1 block walk around the corner to Ocean Drive and we were right at the Clevelander in the thick of the action.

Courteous and helpful staff...and in a great location.  Highly recommend.

This is a solid place if you just need a place to stay that's clean, with easy access to shops, restaurants, bars, and the beach. However don't expect great service. Aside from the bartender, and if you are lucky, a couple of nice people that occassionally get put on shifts, the front desk staff really are indifferent wether you are there, or not. Getting your car from valet could take up to 30 minutes.

This is a no frills place. nothing fancy, and the rooms are on the small side. However it's in the middle of all the action and the rates are reasonable most of the time.

Loads of problems.  Broken desk chairs (that I was told were not broken, just don't work as intended?!?!? by management).  Toilet running all night--  despite THREE requests to get it fixed.  After management made a mistake with my reservation, it took me a week, multiple emails and phone calls to fix it etc.

A trip to Miami can get expensive.

Especially if you are there during WMC, Ultra, or Art Basel.  If you're on a budget the Blue Moon has your back.

Great location in South Beach.  Just a few blocks from some of my favorites, Sandwicherie, Dave's Cuban, and T-mex.  Great little hole in wall restaurants with amazing food.

Spacious clean rooms, attentive staff and service, large front patio, snacks in the lobby, and they even give you complimentary drink coupons when you check in!  You mean you're giving me a great deal on the room , snacks, and giving me drinks?

Okay, there are TWO buildings.

Building A not connected to lobby = JUNK!
-  Small, old, teeny bed, shabby, decorated like a mix between a dorm room and a kids play room in the 80's.

Building B connected to lobby = GOOD.
- Still kind of small but newer, prettier, clean, and simple.

Kick in the extra $20/night for Building B or you'll be very unhappy.  It's the cost of one drink in South Beach anyways!

The Staff and location was 5 stars.  Seriously, the staff rocks!

This is a Hotwire hotel:
South Beach Central
Boutique hotel, near beach, smoke-free rooms, restaurants, high speed internet

***This was for Labor Day weekend, Sat thru Mon night***
Pre-Pay price directly through the hotel website for the same dates was $117.87/night for 1 adult, I got this $110/night pre-upgrade to Building B. Not much of a deal but it was a holiday weekend.

First let me say the staff at this hotel are magnificent. Best in customer service. I gave 3 stars because i was somewhat disappointed in the size of the room and bathroom.  I kept knocking over everything in the bathroom. It seems like they have diff types of rooms tho. If you get your room through Priceline where you got a reduced rate they will definately put you in one of the less nicer rooms. Not a bad hotel at all. The location is prime. You can walk to EVERYTHING. Based on the size of the room and the itty bitty bathroom this hotel should be 3 stars

This hotel is not a 4 star hotel. It's maybe on par with like Hampton Inn or Best Western. Same lobby breakfast...

Pillows are like $4 Wal-Mart pillows. Room was noisy. Pool area is junky, claims to have a hot tub...there is even a timer switch on the wall, but no hot tub.

Really wish I'd booked another hotel that was ACTUALLY in the range of 4 stars.

Best news is that WiFi for finding another hotel was free...

Nothing special here, but my friend got a deal at this place and it was just fine.  The rooms are clean, but on the smaller side.  The staff is friendly and helpful.  The pool is very small, but secluded.  There were maybe 5 lounge chairs but we were more interested in the beach any way.  The "complimentary beach chairs" gave us the best laugh - they are like captains chais that you can carry as a backpack down to the beach.  We felt ridiculous carrying them, but we're glad we had them once we got to the beach.

Location is right in the south beach retail area and a very short walk to the ocean and nightlife.

Overall a very good value, but nothing to write home about.

Great hotel! I've been to Miami only four times and stayed at fountaine bleau twice however, the service here is simply amazing. You truly feel VIP and its so homey. The service was so genuine and sincere. I would never think twice about choosing this place. My fiancé and  I want to make this place a once year get away from NY. The decor is so cute and modern. You don't get the service anywhere anymore. I have to give a huge shout out to Sean, Alex, and Francisco but the entire staff never failed us. If your considering this place don't think twice. Great experience! The staff was very hospitable.  They made an extra effort to make sure we had everything we needed.  The pool is small, but you don't go to Miami for the pool, so that didn't matter much.  It was in a great location- minutes away from the beach, restaurants, and shops.  Everything you need is within walking distance. This place is just okay. The reviews on hotel.com and expedia were misleading. Not a 4 star.
My stay was not without complications. Reserved two doubles and was given a king and rollaway without any explanation. I was then placed in a handicap accessible double room. After inquiring about availibilty we were moved to a double facing Collins. Real nice but still not 4 star. The hotel controls the thermostat and the a/c was leaking on clothing in the closet. The comforter had a food stain.

Great location and pleasent staff.

After reading the reviews I was expecting more from this hotel.
The location is great and the lobby area is pretty, and front desk staff are friendly.
The elevator is really small and the rooms are very small as well.
We received a room with a view of another wall/balcony which was disappointing.  Also, the hotel never bothered to tend our room after the first night.
We had to ask for extra toiletries, towels and a shower cap.
Also, you have to call the front desk if you need ice (which we had to do several times as no one showed up).  The AC only goes down to 70 degrees so it was a little warm in our room.
They do have an apple computer and printer in the lobby to use free of charge.  They also have towels at the front desk that guests can check out to use at the pool/beach, but they are quite ratty.  Pool area is cramped at not impressive at all.
Location is great, but the hotel was disappointing.  They need to hire an interior designer to make it prettier.

stayed here with my gf for one night before we went on a cruise.  this hotel had the best reviews/location/price point combination when i did my research.

it did not disappoint! hotel location is perfect.. although you won't experience exceptional ocean views from this hotel, the beach is just steps away.

this hotel is clean! bathroom was beautiful and looked recently updated. there is a nice bar downstairs with a cute little pool/waterfall out back..

staff was great.  very friendly and very helpful.. ask them for anything and they will help you out.

i really enjoyed my stay.. i would give 4.5 stars if possible..

Don't valet ur car here. The valet staff gets away with stealing money out of the car. I had money HIDDEN, not laying out in plain sight, hidden and the valet staff stole all of it. I was furious. And when I went to talk to management about this, they didn't seem to care at all and didn't do anything about it.

Great hotel for the value and the location. The rooms are very clean, decent size, and comfortable. They offer afternoon and nightly snacks and an expansive continental breakfast daily. They even have Bath and Body Works products for you to use in the bathroom. The hotel is a short walk away from the beach so you don't have to worry about being far away for the beach. You do however get some of the street noise if you stay in one if the rooms facing the street but it's tolerable. I really loved staying here and would definitely stay here again.

Nice boutique hotel.
Off of Ocean.
Staff was friendly and attentive.  The area was clean and well kept.
The only complaint I had was the AC didn't have a variable speed fan.  Therefore it blew full blast over the bed.
Room was large and had updated furnishing as this is a older hotel that has been remodeled and it was done correctly.
They have a medium sized pool in the back with bar and restaurants.

"Cute" boutique Marriott on Collins ave, in the heart of Sobe. We got in Sunday morning around 1030am and it was a little early for check in. We were able to leave our bags and they said they'd call us once a room was ready. while we sat near the bar to yelp and figure out where to go for breakfast, the bartender welcomed us with 2 free mimosas that were very good! Nice start. We left to go eat brunch and got a call around 12pm that our room was available. The rooms are nice, with modern bathrooms. We ordered a queen and actually ended up with a king. Bonus! We had 2 complimentary bottles of water in the room and We drank both the next morning. The following day when I went to ask for more bottles of water, they said they don't have any and I'd have to go to the store to purchase some. I did find this a little odd. Also, we left the room for a couple hours with the "maid service" sign on the door and came back to a dirty room. I had to call the front desk to get room service. I'm used to hotels being on top of that so it did big me a little. Overall a nice hotel but some of the service issues bugged me. 3.5/5 but I'll have to go with 3 stars since there's no half.

We stayed here for a weekend as part of our honeymoon trip in one of the king size rooms. Upon arriving we were immediately helped with our bags and the front desk agent checked us in. He even gave us some great restaurant recommendations so we didn't have to do much food related research our first day in Miami. We were lucky and got to check in early since our room was ready. Our room was spacious and had amazing a/c - quite the escape from a muggy and humid Miami day. I was also excited to see l'occitane toiletries in our bathroom. Our room looked out to the street but it was quiet at night. My husband is a rewards member so we did continental breakfast one of the mornings we were there. For a free breakfast it was pretty good and you got a lot of food. We also had some drinks at the hotel bar, but we were not so impressed with the mojitos. Would definitely stay here again if I have to return to Miami Beach.

Great location! Right on South Beach - in the middle of the mix! One block from Ocean Drive - which is a good thing unless you like hearing the noise of party-goers until 5a on the regular.
Rooms: Art deco theme, and built in the 40's, it's a cool looking hotel. The interior is fresh and modern, but plush.
Hospitality: The staff were ALL kind and friendly - not over aggressive like some of the local hotel/ bar owners.
The pool left a bit to be desired. It is small and right in the middle of the restaurant patio seating. So, it seems you are on display to anyone who happens to be eating on the patio. Not so hot. I went down early and came back early. It is beautiful outside but seems under conceptualized.
All in all - great stay!
Oh - the parking sucks in south beach - the hotel offers valet parking - just do it.

My husband and I stayed two nights at the Blue Moon, and enjoyed everything about it. The rooms are, clean, bright and modern. The pool was the perfect accompaniment to sunbathing and the location could not have been better. We were steps from the beach, shopping, eating and Mango's.

To make the already wonderful even better, when a bag was left behind through a SNAFU with the bellman, the front desk manager took responsibility for sending the recovered bag home to us in MN, at the hotel's expense.

If you are hesitating to choose this hotel, please don't. We loved it, and will choose it again.

(1) They put me in a room 10 feet from the lobby desk, so every 10 minutes throughout the night there was a loud bang, talking, shouting, people slamming up or down the stairs, doors opening to traffic. They refused to credit the night and move my room. They basically charged me over $200 to sleep in their lobby.

(2) They charge you $26 per night for valet parking, but then take 30+ minutes *minimum* to bring your car -- there are municipal lots a 5 minute walk from the hotel. You're a prisoner of their crap parking.

(3) When you call Room Service you get voicemail. Really.

(4) The desk ignores small requests like "Can you leave some caffeinated coffee in the room?" (The keurig was all Decaff coffee -- do they only host deaf seniors who can't hear the hotel lobby in that room?)

(5) The manager "John" was a huge ass.  This is the core of the issue. Their staff, management and desk couldn't give a shit. That trickles through the organization. Don't pay twice by vacationing with them.

(6) For what it's worth, I've seen puddles bigger than their "pool".

Great location! Big and modern/updated room. Don't bother staying on ocean drive (unless you have an ocean view) when you can get an exceptional room at the Blue Moon. Check out "hotel tonight" for a great price - that's what we did!

Get a high floor - we were on the 1st floor and could hear big foot partying into the night.

The air conditioning is a fat man's delight - you will be cool in seconds. Said AC also drowns out big foot.

Left side lobby and building smells weird.

Would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Felt good about the booking, and the hotel is pretty nice. It's not 4 stars though.

It's a boutique hotel , typical for the area. The location is close to certain clubs and the beach. The hotel itself however needs to significantly upgrade their valet game. When we arrived.. (I've stayed at many other south beach hotels).. There was no valet outside. These are busy one way roads, meaning it's crucial to be able to pull up and drop off to valet. The valet man starred at me and my friends while I was parked out front w my hazards on trying to get service, and he knew we were looking for help. Disregarded us and walked away. We then Circled the hotel several times during busy hours and could not find valet. Eventually it ended up being down the street in a self park manner.
On the way out, it took over 30 minutes for them to get our car. We say outside for over 30 minutes and I had to ask 2x for my car. Again eventually we had to simple just walk down the street to my car which looked like it was never moved. Also the place does not have a soda machine or any food option past a certain time at night. South beach is open all night and drunk people get hungry and thirsty.

Just doesn't line up w other hotels in the area.  As valet is very important in south beach. Check my other reviews I don't bash. Quality of service is key!

I am a Platinum member of Marriott rewards and stay in weekly around the US and have extensive European and Caribbean experience with the chain. I redeemed 75000 points for a Christmas Eve and Christmas Day  stay at The Blue Moon. I found the front desk staff to be non welcoming, not friendly and frankly rather surly. The office and front desk staff mishandled a priority US Mail package containing a Christmas present not making it available to us until the day after Christmas. It was delivered to the hotel well before Christmas and front desk staff was unable to find until after Christmas. The rooms are tiny (think Paris)) bar tenders except one were unfriendly.  The valet car service is really bad refusing to speak English and took almost 45 min to get the car. Having stayed in many of the Autograph Collection hotels I can definitely say this hotel is not worthy of the distinction! This was a waste of points glad I did not pay with dollars!! Never again!!

Overall, not worth the price - probably not worth it at any price. We arrived at 2:30pm (30 minutes early for check-in) and since we were early, we understood our room wasn't ready.  We were told it would be about an hour, so front desk said they would call us as soon as it was available. At 3:30 we came back and were told it would be another half hour. There was a lobby full of people also being told their rooms weren't ready (now well past check-in time). Finally got our room, no apologies - even a drink voucher would have been nice since they recommended we sit at the bar.  The room was really nice and the bathroom products were also really high end.

We called down to inquire about towels for the pool - they asked how many we wanted, I said 4, since there were 4 of us.  They brought up 2 towels and 2 hand towels - I guess it's 2 people to a towel?

We called for a bed setup since we had a suite with a pull out - would be nice to include that automatically if the room is expected to sleep 4.   The fitted sheet was already on - but was stained. First they brought up just sheets and blanket (no pillow or fitted sheet) - we called again - 30 minutes later.  Then someone came up and asked what we needed again. Wow!

The hotel is 10 feet from the avenue and our room was on the 2nd floor - we thought our window was open at first - nope, just thin single-pane and cheap windows. You could hear cars blasting music and people screaming on the street all night. Not worth the over $300 price for the room for a single night.

Excellent location. Attentive and pleasant front desk staff. Small, but very comfortable room. Restaurant staff was a bit grumpy; maybe it was a bad day. Valet though was talking on his phone when he brought up my car? UMMMMMMM...maybe thats why it takes 30 minutes to get your car. (SNARK).  I used to stay at the Ritz or the Delano, but I found that the boutique experience in South Beach is so much better.  I recommend this property.

After checking out the photos online for this little gem, I was so excited that I would be staying here, especially with the great location in South Beach.

I arrived and everything looked like the pictures.... but I will get to that in a minute.

Upon arrival, staff was extremely friendly, attentive and accommodating. I was in town for work and there was a great little quiet spot with a table and chairs in the next building we were able to set up at with limited distractions.

I head up to my room to freshen up for a dinner out, and the room looked exactly like the pictures as well. Just miniaturized. (Does anyone remember those little plastic things you put into the oven that shrink down... had to Google it... Shrinky Dinks? Well, yeah. just like that.) Now I don't require a ton of room so wasn't really worried about it at the time. I did forget my hairbrush and called down to the front desk for a little comb. They said they would bring it right up! I waited and waited. Finally it was time to go down to meet up with my crew so I stopped by the front desk for the request again. "It was already brought up," she said. Well no, it wasn't and was put off I had to actually explain myself on this one. No big deal though, right?

Bed was comfy and had no problems falling fast asleep. The next morning I ventured down to the pool area. It was the tiniest pool I have ever seen! Now, I was told most places in the Art Deco district are a bit smaller... I guess the word cute could be used here.

Up again to the room to get ready for the day. I am going to run out of synonyms for small. Itty-bitty bathroom! Even at 5'3" I had trouble navigating without knocking things over or bumping into something... and I imagined how my handsome man at a whopping 6'3" would be a bull in a china shop in here! No bathtub (no room), which is a little bit of a bummer, but looked like a newly installed shower. Thing is, it drained SO SLOW, I thought it was clogged and freaked out that I was going to flood the place. And ewa, standing in shower water is not my idea of a refreshing start to the morn. (I did inform the front desk at check out.)

Service was hit and miss. They kindly checked my bag at the front desk while we continued to work in our little cove. Alex, was a standout 5 star type of guy, so I'm sad to only give the 3 stars. It really is a darling looking place. Clean, free coffee and water all day, but just not enough room. I can't even imagine two people in a room.

But if you are looking for an easy location to get out and see the wonders of South Beach and not spend a ton of time in the room, this minuscule and modern spot will do.

First time here.  Very nice and professional front desk people and servers.

$26.50 for parking per day. First morning we waited 50 minutes from the time I called valet for the car for it to actually arrive.  When we checked in we were told it was normally a 10 minute wait.  Clarified with the front desk and they said it's normally 25-30 minutes.  Apparently the lot they use is "14 blocks away".  Very frustrating to make plans to drive anywhere.

The restaurant staffing or management is poor.  Very spotty timing here as well.  Was seated and then waited over 10 minutes for a server to take our order.  But let's be clear - the people are all super nice.

It's just weird that this place takes so long to do anything.

The room... Beds were average, quite hard actually.  The TV cable was very slow to respond, like there was a 10 second delay from selecting a channel to seeing the channel appear.  Very small almost useless counter under the bathroom mirror.  The AC unit fan blew so loudly that when it would come on it woke us up.  Strange wall controls for the ceiling fan.  Rooms very small, and we had a "master suite".

Would not come back to this hotel.

Cozy little hotel perfectly located 1 block away from Ocean Drive to one side, and well known clubs on Washington Ave on the other side. This is not your typical Marriott with hundreds of rooms, but thats part of the nice experience. This is 4 flight building with 45 to 55 rooms.  From the friendly staff at the lobby, to the 1960s tiny elevator, to the nice welcome treats you get once you check in as an Marriott Elite member. I must say I will definately come back to this hotel. You are walking distance to tons of shops, restaurants, and the beach. The only downside is the parking service but I dont mind waiting 15-20 min to get my car unlike other reviewers. Relax you are in SoBe take your time and enjoy life. Who cares if the valet takes a bit long, if you dont like it then walk.

Some of the rooms are great, others aren't.  My room was nothing like the pristine white room pictured above.  It was VERY funky al-a Ikea.  It also looked a little worn, but not terribly so.  I love boutique hotels and I apprecite the attempt at originality.

The best thing about Blue Moon is the location is prime.  You can walk EVERYWHERE from the Hotel.  The pool courtyard is very charming, but it looks like that's changed since I was there.  There's a restaurant on the pool patio now, so I can't imagine they actually let anyone swim in it now...

I also didn't love how long the valet parking took, but that's Miami for ya. Definitely call ahead from your room to have your car ready.

I wouldn't pay full-price for a room at this hotel, but if you can score a deal on the web, go for it.

The decor is very cute and not dated like a lot of places here.  The valet takes 30min-1 hour to get your car so be aware of that.  The bar/serving staff are decently clueless besides 1 guy who was cool. The pool is cute!
I would come here again if I had to come to South beach.  I just had to wait a long time each time to get my car. Especially the time it took an hour. Are they parking it in Ft. Lauderdale?!

Fantastic location and amazing staff!
Pro: Location- Hotel is located on Collins which is 1 block parallel to Ocean Dr. That's the beach. You're a block from the beach and all the on street action of Ocean Dr. Also around the corner are 2 pretty popular clubs/bar. The Clevelander and Mango's. If you want nice, hip, happening, and/or pricey places to go. If not, there's a Mega pizza which has slices of pizza as big an entire pizza box for only $5.
Staff- Everyone was ah-mazing! from the front desk to the wait staff, valet, bellhop, and housekeeping.  I called ahead to the hotel to let them know my flight was delayed. When we arrived past midnight the bellman was there to help us with our bags. I was worried about the valet pricing. Front desk  suggested that my car would be fine on the street since it was a holiday weekend and no construction would be taking place. Then he suggested a few hot spots for us to checkout since it was Saturday night in Southbeach. Then the next day, I went to Fix (on site restaurant) in the morning for coffee, and was offered the continental breakfast by the wait staff there. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. They would replace my coffee instead of just refill it every so often while I read. They have really comfy chairs all over the hotel. The hotel also gives you beach towels for the beach. And upon your return for the day, complimentary Sangria by the front desk!
Rooms- Marriot has the best beds, and Blue Moon's doesn't disappoint. The rooms are outfitted with mini fridge and a keurig.  Rooms are neat, and simply decorated. A bit on the small side but not tight. Rooms also have spa robes:) AC in room has its own thermostat and does a great job of cooling you down ASAP after a day at the beach.
Decor- Simply adorable. I love all the different seating areas. The patio in the front right off the bar has great outdoor seating areas set back from the street but yet open. Outdoor speakers keep the vibe festive and entertaining even if no one is out there with you. Inside,  large comfy chairs everywhere! I like to relax and read but not be coupped in the room so the different vignettes are nice.
This hotel would rank 5 stars if not for this 1 thing. I would definitely stay here again so it's not a deal breakers but it's kinda annoying.
Con: Toilet/AC noise- not sure why the toilet makes this water flushing sound every so often even when not in use. It does this all day and night. Roughly every 30 mins. Give or take. I did not alert the staff only because it doesn't seem like something you can fix or change. Also, AC is loud. Not a racket but that cold air sure does blow in hard and loud. Since I'm a deep sleeper, none of this really bothers me while I'm sleeping.  But I do notice it while I'm awake.

One word: Disappointing.

Valet: (left blank purposefully)

Noise: Second floor room allowed us to hear late night ally conversations.

Housekeeping: We placed our robes on the floor along with dirty towels for replacement. Our old robes were simply placed right back on the door hook.

Maintenance: Responsive to bad card reader on door as well as broken television.

Too many options in this area to settle for this. Don't stay here but make sure to grab a drink at the Fix!

Wow! The staff here are incredibly friendly, courteous and helpful. By far, the best service we have ever experienced at a hotel. That's saying something, given how rude most of the foreigners are who visit Miami. The room we had was rather small, but the location is great for nightlife and its closeness to South Beach. Say Hi to staffers Juan and Zor and they will hook you up with the best local attractions, provide you with 5 star service, and be your new best friends during your stay!

Meh. Not a bad hotel at all, you mind. Staff is friendly and helpful, and everything is clean and cute. I was underwhelmed by the size of the room (veeeery small), furniture (minimal), toiletries (abysmal). The restaurant is okay  but the menu is extremely limited.

The pool is tiiiiiiiny.

Great location? Yes! Room for improvement? Yes!

I hate giving 2 stars a one of my Marriott family hotels. As a Platinum Marriott member, these places are my home away from home and I love them for it. On a recent business trip I decided to mix it up a bit and stay near the beach. Every now and then I will opt for a more quaint experience in my hotel, perhaps a bed and breakfast.

Let me get some of the pros and cons out of the way before I offer some constructive advice. First, the staff is incredible and I mean that. Everyone from the bell hop to the front desk to the bartender and even the chef are beyond accommodating.

Valet was an absolute pain. I expected to have no other option then valet and was ok with it. What I was not ok with is calling down for my car at 6:30am and letting them know I would be leaving at 7:30am and then the car did not arrive until 8:30am. With traffic I ended up being late to my meeting. Not to mention when the car was finally ready, we walked a block and a half to get to it. Along the way they told me that they park the cars 12 blocks away. I told them that next time I could just walk the extra 10 1/2 blocks and get it myself as it would save time. They did comp my valet that day.

Now on to a couple of brief suggestions. The easy one is find a better valet system/company. Next, let your chef be a chef. The menu selection was very disappointing. I have seen Courtyard Bistros with better menus. When you are in Miami Beach you expect to have choices that are interesting plays on the local cuisines. I decided to test things out. I was one of two eating that night so I looked over the menu, looked at what ingredients he was working with and made a couple of suggestions. He came back with a French dish that was like the comfort food my French Canadian grandmothers never knew how to make. It was fantastic. I am not sure why a chef with that kind of creativity would want to be buckled into a menu Chicken Wings, Burgers and your sub-par Cuban sandwich. Management: Give your chef a daily special option and some leeway for some local ingredients.

This hotel has great potential but it is not there yet. It is one of many to choose from maintaining a very average status in that area. I will likely stay at the JW Marriott downtown next time and if I want to stay in the Miami Beach area will probably go to a Marriott.

I stayed here last week and my stay was fabulous. The hotel staff is great and they work hard to accommodate your every need. They are super friendly and give you good recommendations if you don't know where to go out for dinner.

It's located on Collins Ave so you have everything at a walking distance. The rooms are big enough for what you need, and the place it kept very clean. The beds are very comfortable and you have a mini bar. Even though it's located on Collins and a block away from Ocean Drive you can't hear any noise at night. It's great, best of both worlds.

The complimentary continental breakfast is not so great but you have tons of little places close by if you choose to get breakfast elsewhere. The pool is rather small but who needs a pool when you have the beach one block away.

It's south beach so I would recommend you use their valet parking - it's $27 per night - but it's more expensive if you try to do it elsewhere. However, you do need to let them know half an hour in advance if you need your car to be ready at a certain time.

Cute boutique hotel - I would definitely stay here again.

Will never stay here again and will never recommend. Too many reasons however, let's start with the fact that we had to wait until 5:30pm to check In and then, was told that the room we reserve will not be available at all.  To make matters worse, they insulted me by saying there is no manager on duty to talk to and I'll have to wait until Monday if I want to talk to anyone. (we checked in on Saturday)

Next, at 3:30pm, our room was still not made up. When I went to the front desk to complain, was told, "oh, you want your room cleaned?" Imagine, asking a Hotel that charges over $200 a night to clean your room?

Lastly, when they did not provide the hotel room that I  reserved, I wanted to cancel my reservation and was told, if I do so, I will be charged 1 night stay.

So to summarize, they did not honor the reservation and when I wanted to cancel, they stated they would charge me the cost of a 1 night stay.

Carpe Diem!!!

Nice little bar set up! The most important the ac was ice cold and the ceiling fan was perfect!  Why more hotels do not have them is beyond me.  Had breakfast at the FIX our waiter was Xora or Zora (sp?) he was so friendly and attentive did such a great job!!! The food was good too! Had a frittata and a fruit bowl!  Great service through out-I will stay here for sure again!

Great location on Collins.
Booked a room by naming my own price on Priceline.
The room was located on 'the other side'. We had to take the elevator up and walk over to the other side of the hotel. The room was a decent size for the queen bed and was equipped with tempting snacks and liquor just laying out under the TV and desk. There was also a little refrigerator and a Keurig coffee machine.
I was happy with it all. The bathroom was nice. It had a little window and L'Occitane products.
The only thing I was not happy with was the power going out from 1am to well, it wasn't even up when we checked out in the afternoon AND no hot water. I couldn't use the room phone to call down because it didn't work. My cell phone was dying because there was no power to charge it. When we did speak to someone, we were told that the city messed up and the whole block was out of power. The other side of the hotel must have been on a generator? Because they were fine. So the power and hot water were out and we were told it was expected to come back on in an hour and that turned into another hour and into several more hours. They later offered a key to another room on the other side of the hotel to take a warm shower.
For our trouble and you have to actually talk to them about it rather than just expressing you're out of power and hot water, I was to get credited for my stay by half through Priceline.
Valet. Well, that's another downside. It took half an hour to get our car. No heads up at check-in or when we dropped off our car just a long ass wait after having no power or hot water. When we got into the car, the valet driver got comfy and tuned the radio to another station as we got in and a Spanish speaking Miami station was playing at a good level of sound.
There was a bellman in the lobby. I didn't get his name but he was really nice and wouldn't let me carry my bag anywhere. The bartender was also very nice and empathetic to our situation during our stay. He also had very good recommendations for Art Basel. Those guys were shining stars of my stay.

I'm in day 2 of a 4 day stay.  Never right a review in the middle but today I am.  This place is great.  It's location is great.  The staff is amazing.  Very courteous, professional and always asking how things are, offering wAter, refresh ur drink etc.  the bartenders are very attentive. The room isn't amazing but it's more than ok. It's by far better than most but it's not the ritz.  That up the road and 500 more a night.  This is perfect.  I'd recommend it and will come back.  My new fav hotel in sobe
