Oh, it's definitely Deco.  But the rooms really feel like they are from the 30's.  In our room, the walls were only a few feet from either side of the double bed, and about four feet from the end of it... and that was pretty much the entire room.  The bathroom was small but not tiny, and everything seemed clean enough, but we did see one of the first floor rooms, and believe me, go with one of the renovated ones upstairs.  Also, you might want to tailor your conversation, since regular indoor voices travel better than you would have thought humanly possible through the walls.
The location is pretty nice for the price, and yes, that parking area on the grass that holds about ten cars is all there is.  You'll have to leave your keys so they can shuffle cars around when they get double or triple stacked.  Don't bother to unpack your laptop for their "connection" - they'll clarify when you get there that there is a phone socket in your room, and hopefully you brought a phone cord and have a dial-up service you can go through.  At least the staff is friendly.
Check out Lincoln Road mall, just a couple blocks away, and the beach a block and a half in the opposite direction.  Walk over the the Delano just half a block away and get in line along the side to have a drink at the "non-guest" bar, enjoy the oasis view, and wish you could have stayed there instead.

Used the Cadet for my wedding guests and when guests in town. Mid range price for everyone ($135), clean and cute. Photos of their rooms on their website are accurate. I live on beach and know that many boutique hotels look nice in pictures but hole in real life. Only 32 rooms but all recently renovated. Like most boutique hotels no parking but 1 block from Lincoln Garage and two other lots 1/2 block away. Great staff, great location, great price.

Great location, helpful staff, a few minute fixes to make it better. We were in room 201, which is on the street corner next to the stairs. They were doing road construction outside our window. There was a party at the place across the street with music blaring all night. The windows are old and not very well insulated which I think was one of the problems. Since the room was next to the stairs you can hear people coming up and down all night. The rooms are nicely modern decorated, mattresses are a little tired though there was a pad on it. You can easily walk to lincoln rd where ask the shopping and restaurants are located. The beach is just as close. parking sucks. We were in a lot on the side of the hotel $25/day. the staff is wonderful, helped us when our flight was canceled and we missed our first night at the hotel. Also got free beach towels. I would come again but I need a different room and a place to ditch the car that is cheaper.

This is a small hotel with a great location and some of the best hotel staffs I've ever had. My wife and I flew into Miami via a red-eye flight. We decided to call the hotel to see if there is anyway we can check in early. They went out of their way to make sure we were in our room by 10:30am.  They didn't have elevators but offered to help with our luggage upstairs. The room was clean, and the remodeling was tastefully done. You can tell it was a much older hotel trying to stay current. Most things and places you want to do are within walking distance.

The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that we have to park at a near-by lot for $25 per day. We honestly didn't even need our car for our 3 day trip.

I would definitely stay here again if I am coming back to Miami Beach.

So I've stayed all over Miami/South Beach and the Cadet Hotel is far and away my favorite.  Especially when I'm going to the SoBe area I like to stay near the strip but not on it and near Lincoln Road but not too near.  The problem with a couple of other boutique hotels is that you pick up a lot of the noise from those areas.  The strip may be the loudest part of all of south beach and I'm sure that the noise comes into your room.
This hotel is one block from Lincoln Road and the beach front, so you get access to everything without being affronted by the negatives.  Cadet is very clean, quiet and beyond comfortable.  A standard queen sized room has a luxuriously comfortable bed, sizeable bathroom, armoire and a walk in closet with a safe.
The staff here is so attentive and nice.  They readily hand out beach towels, advice on eateries or any other accommodation that they can make.  They even sent champagne up to our room as a welcome.
Im heading back to Miami and the Cadet is my first choice.

The pictures on the website make this place look much bigger in every way than it really is. So I guess I should complement the photographer they hired, because they managed to make this place look like it was the Delano...Not that the Cadet is bad, it's just nowhere near as enticing as it appears to be if you're hotel hunting on the web.

The minuscule parking lot would be funny if it wasn't irritating at the same time. Watching the desk staff shuffle six cars around the lot like they're playing Tetris to get your car out is amusing at times, but not when you're in a hurry to get somewhere, as is usually the case for me and my wife since one of us is usually running late.

All that being said, it's a pretty good option to be close to South Beach and Lincoln Road Mall without paying money like you're a rock star.

I would definitely stay here again. A block from everything at very reasonable prices. The staff are 5 stars all the way--from the maids who patiently waited to clean til the crack of 2 and 3 pm in the afternoon when the vampires finally left the room to the front desk folks who went out of their way to find the sunglasses I accidentally left behind and mailed them to me.

Also a bonus is the partially-enclosed, comfortable patio area where you can sit with a bottle of wine and a cigar on your last day in town and recount the incredible memories collected from your stay in salacious South Beach.

We booked this hotel online at the last minute for a very modest rate. We read many good reviews and expected a pleasant experience. The Cadet Hotel exceed our expectations. The decor is incredibly tasteful and understated and the staff was incredibly courteous and attentive, down to something as simple as stocking our refrigerator with complimentary bottles of water every day.

This hotel is incredibly well priced for what you get, which is quite a bit. The proximity to the beach along with its quality our unmatched in it's price range.

As i crossed the entry threshold and escape the cacophony of street sounds, a warm welcoming scene unfolds before me. From the old world charm of the decor sprinkled with imports from round the world, I am emeshed in a sanctuary in the middle of the hustle and bustle of South Beach.

Inside I am greeted by hospitality and attention of "The Cadets" a young group of front desk personnel that have clearly risen in the ranks for knowing how to treat and attend to its clientele.

The breakfast including the homemade scones were some of the best I have ever tasted. Hot spiced tea whiffed through the air, sending my senses into a snow covered mountain lodge  in St. Moritz.

In fact, the Cadet reminded me of Old Hollywood Meets European Royality. From the minute i entered and stayed in it's luxurious bedroom I was instantly transported to an oais of calm and serenity.

The dining at the Pied a Terre was divine. From the lovely intimate table settings, to the china and romantic lightening, I was transported into the days where conversation and food made the evening, and it did.

I recommend the Cadet and it's on-site restaurant Pied a Terre to anyone who is looking for a home away from home, but a place that feels miles away.

Whether you live in Miami or are coming from Overseas, this hotel holds the key to my heart and peace of mind.

    Thank you,
    Debra O

This little hotel is a gem in SoBe. We looked around for something that was more homey as opposed to a huge hotel. We also wanted something that was accessible to the main st's and around nightlife, restaurants, the beach, etc. The Cadet Hotel is it! We were welcomed with such professionalism and attentiveness. The staff is fairly young but very helpful and again professional. The room was clean, a bit small but cozy. The outside jacuzzi area reminded me of some type of zen garden with relaxing music, lounge chairs and a massive jacuzzi in the middle! There was also a long table (dinner table) under a wooden canopy with a beautiful chandelier that would be great to dine in with friends and/or family. The hotel has a restaurant inside but we decided not to dine there although the setting was very beautiful. There is also an outside patio where you can have breakfast or just lounge and read a book or do some work. There were several wooden benches and also a canopy with a bed. If my bf and I are ever in SoBe we are definitely coming to the Cadet Hotel again. Thank you!!

My boyfriend and I loved this place. We stayed here for about 5 days. It was great for the price and located close to everything. The rooms were comfy and very clean. I opted out of the nightly turn down service because I don't feel comfortable having someone perform services for me that I can do for myself. But it is nice to have for those who like it. Also housekeeping cleaned the rooms immaculately daily. We would definitely stay here again.

The Cadet also sends birthday cards on your bday which is really sweet.

Awesome little hotel. Very friendly staff. Small but very nice rooms. Shower wasn't great but that's about my only complaint.
    Highly recommended.

Hotel offers very good value, but make sure you talk to the front desk before you decide where to park. I absolutely hate dishonest people, and I had a very bad experience with one of the valet parking lot.

This hotel is wonderful!  From the great location to the friendly front desk to the reasonable rates, the experience was great.

The hotel is located just off the main drags, so it doesn't get too loud.  It has an old-Hollywood feel and it's easy to tell that the owners/staff care about every detail.  When I walked in my room, there was fresh fruit and a personalized note waiting for me.  When I left for a bit, I came back to a filled ice bucket, complimentary water, and a few chocolate-covered almonds.

I was concerned about parking, so I called and they let me know there are a few lots on the same street.  Parking was $25 for 24-hours in the lot between the hotel and Lincoln Road and the attendant was very nice.  I could come and go as I liked.

The only downside is that our room was a little small, but we weren't in it much, so it was no problem.

If you are looking for a big, opulent, over-priced place to stay in South Beach, this place is not for you.  If you are looking for a charming, convenient, happy little place, you've found it.

This is an awesome little boutique hotel. The staff are excellent, from housekeeping to the front desk. The rooms are clean & comfortable, the hotel interior is tastefully done. It's quite affordable when in comparison to other hotels in the SoBe area & the location is great. With in walking area of the beach and the Mall. I've stayed here 3 times and I've enjoyed every stay. From now on when I'm in Miami Beach the Cadet will be my area HQ lol :)

The Cadet Hotel is quaint and a quiet place for a romantic holiday and for those business types as there is the Conference centre around the corner

Parking at rear of hotel, Art deco architeture within the Art Deco District

Out door cafe area with table service for that essentail breakfast, breakfast served only, there is a bar in the lobby, rooms all come with ensuit bathrooms

Personal opinion 5 star hotel, friendly staff and a supreme service

Spent three days here and enjoyed my stay. The hotel is centrally located right in the heart of South Beach and the price was reasonable, especially by South Beach standards. The downside is that they don't have a pool and the rooms run really small.

On the plus side they have a great hot tub and the staff is very attentive. Thy leave bottled water and chocolate in your room every night.

I recently got married on South Beach and had a wedding block of rooms at the Cadet.  The accommodations were excellent.  The rooms were really cute and the hotel has been recently renovated, which was evident.  All my guests really enjoyed themselves and were all complimentary of the facilities.  Unless you are prepared to pay three or four hundred dollars a night, hotels on Miami Beach are typically old, run-down, and on some occasions, dirty.  Not the Cadet, however.  Not only was the hotel nice and charming, but the facilities were clean and the service was excellent.  Being a 2-minute walk from the beach doesn't hurt either! Given the rate we got - $140 - I highly recommend the Cadet Hotel!

I love this hotel! Quaint and great. Super nice staff and it's amazing how it takes you away from the hustle and bustle which is literally half a block away. Don't get me wrong, I'm a party person at heart, but you walk in and it's like the "life" is shut out. You walk in your room, silence, and it's just perfect. Kick back, get your rest, and hit the scene again!! Discount vouchers for the beach (5 min walk) and nothing to complain about. Rooms are super cozy, clean, comfortable and perfect. Highly recommend!

So I read all the great reviews about this hotel on tripadvisor and other online sites, and decided to book this hotel. Considering the location, I think it was an awesome price. The hotel doesn't charge you 2 to 3 hundred a night compared to other cheap-looking hotels in the area.

It's located about 2 blocks away from the beach. It's not as noisy as hotels in Collins and Ocean drive, but we did hear people arguing all night in the room next to us, so the walls were pretty thin.

The room is nice, but a bit small. It seems like the cramped everything they could in the room. The tv was small and way high up on top of the bookshelf/entertainment center.

I think the best part of the hotel was the staff that worked there. They were all very nice. One of the guys who works there did everything from carring our luggages to serve us drinks in the outdoor cafe. The service from the staff was even better than 5 star hotels that I stayed in.

Overall, I thought the hotel was a great value considering the location.

Picked this hotel totally by chance. Decent rate. Very European feel. Clean comfortable rooms and very nice gardens. Will be back.  Location was perfect for a conference at the convention center and only a five minute walk to the beach.

Miami can be just as crazy or as artsy as you want it to be. The fact that it has a very obvious Multiple Personality Disorder (Multi dimensional is probably a better descriptor)  is what keeps me coming back here and if I can make it happen, I usually stick to Cadet for my hotel reservations.

Cadet probably caters to a slightly more well behaved crowd where you're more likely to not have someone throw up right outside your room (almost always happens at the W South Beach). The location which is literally right off Collins and a block away from Lincoln is perfect because you have the beach, nightlife, shopping and Little Havana all within a quick walking distance.

The rooms are lovely, complete with luxurious beds and spacious bathrooms and if you can get their suites, do it - it's definitely worth the upgrade. Cadet has a pretty decent lobby bar complete with a grand piano, where you can chill around sunset and they also have a charming enclosed patio space which is the perfect spot to unwind with wine and a cigar, or have a lazy breakfast.

This tiny hotel is squeaky clean, serves wonderful breakfast in bed, has a friendly, attentive staff and is quite possibly my favorite place to stay in South beach giving me just enough proximity to the mad nightlife, but with a generous amount of privacy if you want to shut down and disappear for a little bit.

This place is the bee's knees!!  We stayed at the Cadet for 5 nights during a trip to South Beach and will definitely be back.  All of the hotel staff, especially Carlos who works the night shifts, are absolutely wonderful.  So kind and welcoming.  Every day when we returned we were literally welcomed "home".  We also enjoyed some behind the scenes tours thanks to Carlos and saw the whiskey room which is normally reserved for fancy pants guests.  The location could not be better... 5 mins walk straight down the road to the beach front, and 5 mins walk from Lincoln Ave which has shops and restaurants galore.  Highly recommend this cute little art deco boutique hotel!

Nice cosy hotel. Attended a reception on the back patio. Quite small but very charming with a mini pool and I still don't understand how nobody falls into it.
Big Cons: no valet and parking is impossible around!

I have driven by this hotel a zillion times in my lifetime and never gave it a second look. I needed a place for a quick staycation that was reasonably priced and Cadet Hotel was it!

The number 1 reason this place rocks? Location, location, location! Cadet is located on a random, short street (James) between Collins and Washington. We were able to walk to lunch and dinner every night (yes, heels and all). Lincoln Road and The Filmore are also within walking distance. New (to me) find Regent Cocktail Club is across the street as well as Casa Tua (will go next time for sure). The beach is just a short block and a half away too!

The hotel was built in 1941, three days before the attack on Pearl Harbor, during World War II. At the time, most hotels were occupied by Allied Armed Forces. Cadet Hotel became home to the West Point Cadets graduates, under the command of a young Clark Gable. When you enter the hotel now, you see Clark Gable memorabilia everywhere. (In case you don't know, Clark Gable is most famous for his leading role in the very classic- Gone with the Wind.) They also have a master suite named after him.

The lobby is quaint with some comfortable lounge seating, a bar on the left (espressos in the morning and cocktails at night), and live, sexy jazz on the weekends. I did not catch the singer's name, but she was fabulous. It was a nice surprise to discover they have a hidden, ultra private, tiny restaurant off the lobby called "Pied à Terre", which has a 4 1/2 stars rating. Who knew? I took a peek and have bookmarked it for future reference because it looks amazing. Cadet only has two stories and there is no elevator. Thankfully, the staff carried our luggage up for us. The room was spacious and very clean. A fruit platter welcomed us with a welcome note, complimentary water, and chocolates. Despite it's centric location, the room was very quiet at night with no (expected and typical) street rowdiness interrupting us at all. The terrace outside has a small pool with some lounge chairs and I believe they do offer some in-room spa services.

One con was the lack of parking. There is a lot a block away but it would have been more convenient to have valet parking. Luckily for us, we planned on driving as little as possible that weekend.

I will definitively stay here again!

LOVED this hotel!  Quaint, personal, definitely boutique!!  We weren't here long enough to try the spa, restaurant, jacuzzi but enjoyed all other aspects!  Great location just a block from everything.  Personal note and treats in our room upon arrival. Loved the complimentary towels and chair/tent discounts on the beach. Only thing we didn't love was the air conditioner - noisy and cut on and off so a little disturbing for sleep.  But we'll still come back soon!!

We stayed here for two nights during our trip to Miami. The hotel has a European feel to it and was generally a very pleasant stay. The room was smaller than expected but very clean and a great price compared to other hotels in the area.

My only complaints: the maid service strangely took our comforter after the first night and when we asked the front desk we were given a blanket as a replacement. It wasn't cold but I missed the comfy comforter the second night. They also only left us one towel for the second night.

The hotel is in a great location and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They graciously lent us umbrellas during a particularly rainy day.

We stayed at the Cadet Hotel 3 nights over new years and had a wonderful experience. I have been to Miami many times, usually staying at bigger more expensive hotels on Collins Ave. The excellent service and cleanliness at this hotel beats all of those.

They were extremely accommodating when we asked if a third person could stay with us, as this is usually against the rules. They went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed- even showing up every evening at our door with macarons and the weather report for the next day. In addition, they offer beach access that is included in the resort fee.

If you are looking for a hotel with a big pool scene and direct beach access this is not for you. But if you are looking for a quaint, personal, friendly environment I would go with this hotel.
