As a local resident, my husband and I were looking for a new, cute boutique hotel to stay at when we stay for the weekend.  In the future, we will be spending the extra money to stay somewhere more desirable.  Service was terrible, and there were several things wrong with the room.  $150 additional credit card hold when checking in, which was never detailed in the reservation.  I have never heard of a hotel doing this.  No iron in room........easy fix, except that we had to go downstairs ourselves to pick one up, as the front desk didn't answer the phone for 10 minutes.  2 towels in a room that sleeps 4.  No knob toppers on faucets in bathroom.  Sheets were filthy and had blood splatters on one side of sheets-this is terrible.  TV had no sound in bathroom, and although we are both tech-savy, could not figure out how or why the sound was not working.  Asked for a manager several times throughout the weekend, however, there was never one on duty.  Called several times when "he would be back" and he would still never be there.  Left a message and call still has not been returned.

I frequently travel across the country and stay in all kinds of hotels, sometimes chic & posh, sometimes not.  I have never experienced such a low level of customer service.  Completely unacceptable.

The pro's are that the location is excellent and it is super-quiet, which is hard to find in SoBe.  Hotel has a ton of potential, but service leaves a lot to be desired.  We will not be recommending this hotel to anyone in the future.

Great location, nice hotel staff, especially the gentleman that works late at night.  The location is amazing, and the hotel is generally clean, I think for staying in south beach this is a great place to stay.

Went here last week for a girl's getaway and had such a great time!! The location is perfect and a great place to experience the best of south beach!
-The hospitality of the staff is the best part, if you want an honest opinion of where to go and what to do anyone at the front desk is more than willing to help. They are so kind and more than happy to help you with anything you need.
- The rooms it's self are really nice and spacious. The kitchenette is spacious and serves it's purpose. The beds is super comfy and the sofa is fine for being a pull out bed.
-The downfall to the room is that our room did not have much of a view at all. Our view was of the wall of the building next door. Also the garbage trucks and sounds of Ocean Drive in the morning were pretty loud in the morning. Don't expect an ocean view, I don't think many of the rooms have a view of any kind.
- The best part of the hotel is the rooftop pool! We were the only people ever up there, I don't know why more people don't take advantage of it! Beautiful views of the ocean and comfy lounge chairs.

Overall this place was great place for the location and the price! Would definitely come back on my next trip to South Beach!

Great location at a great price!
A group of 9 of us went to Miami for my boyfriend's 30th birthday in late January, and I found this place through my friend who runs Easy Euro Trip, kind of an affordable travel agent that finds you great deals.
One couple stayed in their own room, which I never saw so I can't review the regular rooms, but the rest of us squeezed into a 2 bedroom ocean front suite on the....3rd floor I think? It was AMAZING. Great decor, plasma TV, comfy couches, hardwood floors, granite countertops in the kitchenette, a full size fridge with pull out freezer, stocked for our convenience (at a per item fee of course).  Place also came with all the basic dishes, utensils, glassware, a dishwasher which we made good use of during our 3 night stay, microwave, and was within walking distance of at least 3 markets. VERY affordable, as the suite, which was the size of a large apartment, averaged to about $450/night including taxes and a rollaway.  Extra plus: they gave us late checkout until 5pm on Sunday for $75, which was awesome since our flights weren't until 8:00 that night.  My only issue was their tiny empty club that bumped music until dawn, but I think that's just how you roll in Miami.  I think technically the capacity for the suite was 5 people though, so you have to be a little sneaky if you wanted to squeeze more in.

I stayed there for New Year's and I love this little boutique hotel! The staff was really friendly, the suite I stayed was huge and the price was cheap. Its in ocean drive, close to everything in South Beach. My only complain is the lobby, which is a bit hidden and overly simple. Besides that, the hotel is really nice. They also have a small club next to the lobby where they play nice music and the drinks are not expensive.

This place is awesome!!  For the price, the room was clean and spacious.  I will definitely go there again!!

The only drawback was the reception/lobby area smelled like FUNK!!

My group of six women friends stayed at the Casanova Suites for two nights on either end of our cruise out of Miami in early February, and we had a great time there. The hotel is ideally situated on Ocean Avenue, directly across from the heavenly, beautifully maintained beach. And, it's in the heart of SoBe, within easy walking distance to everything.

During the first half of our stay there, we stayed in room 501 which was really lovely, . Then, due to some mix up, we were relegated to room 301 on the second leg of our stay -- even though we had booked 501 on our return -- and it was not at all the same. The hotel is being revamped and the fifth floor suite, with a huge living room and kitchen, and two bedrooms and baths, was in much better shape than the third floor unit, even though the layout is similar. The accommodating staff, particularly Carlos, made it right for us and moved us back to 501 and we were delighted to return to the place that felt like "home." Casanova has a beautiful, private, rooftop pool with an amazing view. We loved our stay at Casanova and would certainly consider staying there again.

Don't be put off by the temporary ally entrance or the tiny, old reception area -- Casanova is being slowly renovated and when it's done it will be even more of a jewel than it is now. One caveat, though. if you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs because the partying on SoBe goes on until well into the wee hours. There's no restaurant or room service but who needs that with all the wonderful places to eat all around. Go and enjoy!

This hotel is terrible! The pictures from the web site are very deceptive! The photo of the front is NOT at all the hotel.  The hotel is down an alley/walk way on the side of the building.  The lobby is small and each and every floor in the hotel smells! There are 2 stair wells and in 1 was a cracker that was there before and after our 5 night stay as well as a used condom in the other stair well. Also, housekeeping missed a day which was not good because of the sand. If you are ok with a 1 star hotel....this hotel will work for you.  I did use Yelp reviews when committing to Casanova Suites.  It is very clear by the positive reviews that folks received a different room.  When I spoke with Management about the room looking NOTHING like the photo he advised that they do not photograph all 20+ rooms and they are different.   Do NOT accept room 405!
I was given a discount on the room from the deception.
Good Luck if you chose to stay here!

Great Hotel and fabulous location!

Some girlfriends were in town, and we got a nice 5th floor one bedroom suite, that came with a fully stocked kitchenette, to chill all your pre-game drinks, and heating up those leftovers when you're nice and relaxing after the long night out...

the decor is fabulous, and miami chic. pull out couch could be more comfortable, it's like one too many sumo wrestlers slept on this bed. but the couch itself was great. the 2 flat screen tvs offered full cable channels for your viewing pleasure. there's a thermostate control in the suite as well, so you can control what temperature you like, hot or cold! AND we were bumping music well into 6am some nights/mornings, with ZERO Noise complaints from the neighbors!!!

and there is a poppin' restaurant/lounge downstairs on the 1st floor, that has great top 40 music bumpin, while there is a mini-club on the ground floor, that plays some niice house beats to chill to.

This place is pretty decent and I booked based on good reviews on other sites. I got this a few days before Ultra Music Festival and got a decent value at an awesome location. I didn't get the ocean view but I didn't mind as I was only staying 1 night as I was booked the rest of the week and another hotel. Overall pretty clean and can't complain.

This was my first time staying in South Beach. I received 4 nights at Casanova as a Christmas present. I was so excited! Until we got to the hotel.

On their website it states that they were recently renovated. It should say that they're currently renovating. The lobby looks like a construction site with holes in the ceiling. The bathrooms in the lobby are AWFUL! The ladies room barely had light in it and had construction material in one of the stalls. Another stall had a smashed toilet. The "club" or bar in the hotel is closed and also filled with construction materiel along with an assortment of other junk.

So after checking in and leaving $150 deposit on my credit card, we head up to the room. The suite is nicely decorated, large, and cleanish. However, if you don't have an ocean view, you have a cement wall view. Like 5 feet away from your window. Fair warning, I believe there are only 6 ocean view suites. We got NO sunlight in our room at all. The ice maker in the freezer didn't work. We had to go out and purchase bags of ice throughout our stay. The water in the bathroom gets a little bit more than warm. And the iron didn't work.

The service is awful. My boyfriend was unhappy with the hotel from the second he saw the lobby and "bar". He mentioned this to the guy at the desk. The response he received was "feel free to call orbitz. I'm sure they can find you another hotel and refund your money". My boyfriend asked if there was a manager he could speak to. He was told the manager would be in in the morning. When we got up to the room and saw our cement wall view, he called the front desk to see if we could get another room. Again, "feel free to call orbitz. I'm sure they can find you another hotel and refund your money".  So we stayed in the room that night. At 6am a truck comes and empties about 10 dumpsters behind the hotel. The loudest thing I've ever heard in my life. The next morning my boyfriend heads down to the lobby to find the manager. He finds a different guy at the desk in the lobby. He tells this guy his issues with the place and our suite. He gets the same response. The manager will be in later and to call orbitz and have them find us a different hotel. So, we called orbitz (who I will be yelping next) and they were useless.

So we decided to make the best of the situation and have a great time in South Beach. We never saw the manager. We were given free breakfast cards for the restaurant next door worth $9. We ate there one day and the food made me sick. I don't expect anything for free, but an "I'm really sorry" or "we will do whatever we can to help you" would've been nice and appreciated. I hope the owner of Casanova knows that his staff is telling people to go somewhere else. To me that's an unacceptable response.

If I was to ever return to Miami for any reason, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!  This place was my "home" for a week and I was liking it so much that I barely wanted to return to my real home(s) in L.A. and Seattle.

What other hotel would be able to accommodate 8 different girls, each with different needs and a whole bunch of STUFF for an entire week?  And what other hotel do you know of has such a friendly, accommodating and caring staff that is concerned and would stay up to make sure that all 8 of us return home safely at the end of the night (or in this case, early morning)?

The rooms itself were CLEAN.  Housekeeping staff was also friendly and very accommodating.  They were okay with our ever changing schedule and if we were in need of more towels, they never hesitate to bring us more than enough.  The living room is HUGE with a big open window to let the sun in.  Flat screen TVs in the living room and both bedrooms (we had a two bedroom suite).  Each bedroom had a bathroom right next to it, so there was plenty of space for us to get ready for our days and nights.  Each bedroom had a queen sized bed and the living room had a pull out sofa bed.  Probably not the most comfortable, but it worked.  We fit 2 or 3 on each bed, but when we wanted to get more cuddly, 5 of us would fit on one of the beds at one time.  Full sized kitchen saved our lives that week.  We cooked and ate there, which saved us a few bucks on meals for the trip.

This hotel is right on the boardwalk and you literally just cross a small one lane street to get to the beach.  They provide beach towels for you upon request as you leave the hotel for the beach... just return it once you get back.  :)

There's a night club/bar at the hotel so whenever we came back at the end of the night, we made a last stop at the Club Casanova where the staff is super friendly.  If some of your party is ready to go to bed, no worries, there is an elevator from the club that brings you straight to your room! (You'll have to have access to this, of course)

This is not one of those bigger hotels with room service or restaurants in the hotel, but I must say, that I like this little boutique hotel a lot more.  No strange people to worry about and as I mentioned earlier, the staff is super friendly and genuinely are concerned about your well being.

Key Points?

-HUGE rooms
-GREAT staff
-CLEAN facility
-AFFORDABLE price (big bang for your buck... I promise)

TIP:  I know that on the website it says 6 people maximum or something like that, but if you call them and inquire about the extra person fee per night, its totally worth it.

As I said, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!

Thank you, Casanova Suites!  Shout out to Fernando, Eric, Carlos, Manuel... they are the best staff we've ever encountered!  (You know who... the 8 crazy Asian girls from Seattle and L.A.)

I searched online for the best location at the best rate.. this is it!

As soon as we walked into our room 304, we couldn't believe we got such a nice suite for such a cheap price. We were so happy.. it was the complete opposite of the Oceanfront Continental but the same price!

- Location! Walk right across Ocean to the beach.
- Great staff! You guys were sweethearts! Very helpful!
- Lots of free samples in a basket
- A nice kitchen with a full sized refrigerator stocked with drinks of all kinds for a decent price
- They have bottles of wine, tequila, beer, soda, ice tea, energy drinks, water, etc..
- Dishwasher, utensils, dishes
- Every room had a nice decor and was clean
- Pull out sofabed in the livingroom
- They allow up to 10 guests
- Walk-in air conditioned closet
- Iron, blow-dryer, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap (doesn't sound special but some places don't have this)
- Pool/Beach Towels at your request
- TV and alarm clock/radio
-  Roof top pool with a nice view
- 2 Lounges
- Central heating and A/C worked well
- Convenient liquor store across the street

- The ONE thing that was a major CON is that we were right by the kitchen, which meant a few roaches (we saw 4 during our 2 night stay) and I HATE roaches!!  BUT they gave us a discount for it and made up for it in many other ways.
- Crappy slow elevator
- Loud music playing till 4am on Saturday

Overall, It is a great value and the staff made our stay there even better.

I would just recommend that nobody stay in room 304 or anywhere near the kitchen until they get that restaurant to take care of that problem.

I recently stayed at the Casanova Suites and was HORRIBLY DISAPPOINTED.  Do not be fooled by the pictures online.  This place is not recently renovated, it is currently being RENOVATED.   The problems started from the second I arrived.  The main lobby is closed "due to renovations". I had to ask people on the street to even find the entrance.  When I was finally directed to the entrance it was down a side ally that smelled like garbage.  Upon entering the "lobby" be careful to step over the construction material and good luck getting someone to help you at the make shift front desk.  After 15 min of waiting around for someone, ANYONE to help me, the front desk attendant/handyman/receptionist finally showed up.  I was finally able to check in and make my way up to my room.

When I got to my room I was pleasantly surprised.  The suite at first glance was nicely furnished and spacious.  Then I started to look around. There was spots on the wall that had recently been spackled over and not finished.  The fan in the bathroom was falling down and making a ton of noise whenever turned on and water in the shower was barely warm enough to keep me from freezing.  Then I opened the curtains to review my amazing view of the dumpsters underneath me out one window and the neighboring building out my other window that I could reach out and touch.  Not one single ounce of sunlight in my room at all.

At this point I called down to the "front desk handyman" and asked to speak to a manager and was told that the manager would be in tomorrow and that there was nothing he could do for me (consequently I asked for the manger every day and he was never available not once in a 5 day stay).  So instead of being upset I tried to make my way down to the bar located downstairs where I was once again Horribly Disappointed.  The bar does not exist it is a construction site and luggage storage area.  It is months away from being completed and falsely advertised.  At this point I decided to go out for the night and had a good night and went to sleep.  Unfortunately I got woken up at 6 in the morning by the banging of the dumpsters being emptied below my window.  (This was not one dumpster this was a solid 15 minutes of non stop banging).  This happened daily throughout the extend of my stay.

I could carry on for pages with all the disappointments associated with this facility.  Be warned this is by no means a nice place to stay in beautiful Miami Beach it was the downfall of an otherwise lovely trip.  Don't make the same mistake I did.

For those of you unfamiliar with South Beach, Ocean Drive is like Times Square minus the angry guys in Muppet costumes and questionable chain restaurants.  But it's packed with tourists, mediocre restaurants in which hostesses block the sidewalk and invite you to sit down like sirens beckoning sailors to wreck their ships upon rocks and overpriced souvenir shops.

On the other hands, it's literally across the street from the beach.  And the people watching is fascinating.

Situated at the southern end of this touristy stretch of boutique hotels that are redesigned old Art Deco buildings is Casanova Suites.  It's actually reached by walking down an alley sandwiched between two hotels and seems to be mostly comprised of the rooms on the side and back of another building.

Some suites seem to have lovely ocean views, but I called before booking to see if we could upgrade to one and none were available.  If you go during winter, be forewarned: it's high season.  Places will be crowded and/or booked up.

This hotel has pros and cons.  I'll list them here:

1) Spacious rooms: we had an 800 sq. foot apartment that was set up like a small one-bedroom.
2) Location: you're right across the street from the beach and in the heart of the area.
3) Price: cheaper than other hotels on Ocean Drive.
4) Roof deck: Nice views of the beach and the city.
5) Free coffee: it's great to have some caffeine before heading out into the world.
6) Complimentary beach towels.

1) No views: our room literally looked out onto a brick wall
2) Loud, uncomfortable bed: Every time one of us got into or up from the bed, it creaked with such volume that it sounded like a cannon being fired.  Also, there were really thin, cheap blankets on the bed.
3) Front door: there was a 1/2-inch gap between the floor and the front door, which meant we could hear conversations very clearly every time someone walked by.  This was kind of odd.
4) No hot water one day.
5) The lobby is kind of run down and there was a sketchy-looking guy just hanging out with the desk clerk when we arrived.  I didn't mind so much, but it unnerved my traveling companion.
6) A $150 hold was put on my credit card when we checked in.  Not the end of the world, but Expedia didn't mention it beforehand.
7) The rooftop pool looked like it hadn't been cleaned since "Miami Vice" was on the air.

The bottom line is that if you want to go to South Beach and save some money, this place isn't awful.  But we discovered that if you stay two or three blocks away from the beach, you can find nice, reasonably priced hotels.  And it's a short walk to the beach.

I wouldn't stay here again.  There are definitely tons of far better hotels out there.  But it's not horrible, either.  One night during our stay, we decided to hang out in the room and it was nice to have so much space.

Great little gem in South Beach. Clean and cute. Very reasonable prices.

We got a 1-bedroom oceanview suite and I was amazed how spacious it was... we were doing cartwheel in the living room and bedroom (after too many bottles of champagne :) Titanium and very new appliances, contemporary and super clean bathrooms. The sheets and bedding was Egyptian cotton and very very comfortable, so sad we only spent 1 hr sleeping on it all night. The view from the large windows in the bedroom was breathtaking, you get to see beautiful people wearing butt-floss on the beach.

The service was ok, some staff members were more friendly than others. Overall good experience.

We booked this hotel because of the great reviews on Trip Advisor. When we got there we too early for check in but they offered to hold our bags, no problem.
We got back and they let us know our bags were already in our newly renovated room, yea.
They said we had to go back outside to a room in front of the hotel. Our room was 5 feet away from a restaurant and had floor to ceiling windows so you could sit on your bed and watch people eat, weird.
The room was huge and had a nice modern decor and a big flat screen TV. You could hear music playing very loudly in room. I thought we could live with it so we turned on TV and got ready to go out. We got back from dinner and came back to our room to find the music in our room was so loud it would be like trying  sleep in a club. Despite we had already unpacked our bags I knew there would be no sleeping in this room. The music was REALLY LOUD, so loud that I can not imagine anyone being able to sleep unless you were totally deaf. They really can not rent this room out. Both restaurants play music very loud and the speakers for this music are mounted above the door of the hotel room. I went to the front desk and said  this was unacceptable and we needed to be moved. they moved us to an interior room that way quieter but still had noise from parking garage but no blaring music. The front desk guy was very nice about moving us but told me quote " yea we have had a lot of problems with that room" according to him they play the music from 8 am till midnight. I can not imagine how upset I would be if I was up till 4 am then came back to sleep and was woken at 8 am by blaring music. If that happened to me someone would have had to die.
I am giving them three stars because the hotel has great location, nice newly renovated room,  great showers and it's right on Ocean Street in the heart of the action. I am taking away two stars fro the noise level in first room that was CRAZY and the noise level in second room was not horrible but loud enough. I would not stay here again. If sleep is not your priority then this may be the hotel for you.

Trip Details:
Came from 2 days in Key West...We drove to South Beach and Stayed June 1-3 in two Ocean front suites. One was two bedrooms and the other was one. They were side by side with balconies. No adjoining door but we hopped over the balcony just fine. We were a group of 7 girls for my bachelorette party.

DO NOT VALET! We waited for 20 minutes before the guy showed up and it's $20. You are right where you need to be. You don't need a car.

DAMN!!! This is where you need to be! For this price, you can't beat it! It's right at the tail end of Ocean Dr. happenings so you are in the calmness and just seconds away from the craziness of Ocean Dr.

This hotel is not pretty AT ALL! The lobby is super ugly and smells muggy. The elevator is whack! The alley way to get there is creepy. And it says the FRITZ outside not Cassanova.

We stayed in Room 501 and 502...One bedroom and two bedroom suite on the 5th floor with balconies facing ocean dr. THEY WERE BAD ASS! HUGE HUGE HUGE and with giant windows that let in a nice ocean breeze! View of the Ocean and you can people watch Ocean dr. Crowd. They have dishes for you to use and a coffee maker so bring some food! Working stove, fridge and microwave. The AC worked great and it was quiet.

Ay ya yay! This hotel owner should save their cash and have a self check in. There is absolutely no need for a person to be at the lobby. They are like freaking zombies out there. No joke.  We even had an incident where some guys followed us to the hotel and he was no help. After the guys insulted us a little sure he told them to leave but that was it. We were scared to leave the hotel after that but we did and it was all fine. Luckily Ocean is super happening all night.

Definitely stay here! The two bedroom sleeps about 8 comfortably and the one bedroom sleeps 5 comfortably. You are super close to everything you wanna do in South Beach.

Well, it looked nice.

We booked four rooms about a month prior to staying here. Two days before we leave for our trip we get an email that they are unable to accomodate us.

How nice...

Stayed at this hotel in August 2014 for my birthday. Hotel is nice, staff was helpful and informative....they printed our boarding passes for us. Great location on Ocean Dr but far enough away from the noise and lights to get some much needed rest. Beach towels are provided upon request. Rooms were clean and spacious. We had the one bedroom suite facing the strip. The hotel was renovated and renamed The Fritz few years ago.

Only complaint is about the thin walls and cleaning service. There was a party next door until 6am....didn't bother me since I was already in turn up mode myself but the disturbance might irritate somebody else.  In regards to the maid service...I would think a hotel would understand that cleaning a room at 10 or 11am in a party town that doesn't shut down until 4am may not be such a good idea. We were woken up by the maids in a couple occasions...naked and hung over so I hope they enjoyed the show. Who's really thinking about the do not disturb sign when you can barely see? lol. When we called in the afternoon for more towels or toilet paper they take forever to respond. I understand that rooms need to be cleaned by Noon for new hotel guests and its easier to keep the cleaning staff on one schedule but please respond in a timely fashion to the guests you already have.

Overall a great stay and I have already recommended The Fritz to others looking to stay on Ocean Dr.
