I guess formerly known as Palmer house, Dream South beach is a real bargain for the location. I found the service to be way above par with friendly staff and a beautiful room. The lights are a cool touch but it's kind of hit or miss depending on the people visiting. See through bathroom definitely weird, I didn't mind so much though and thought the overall setup was really nice. It's listed as a 3 star hotel? Most likely due to it's lack of amenities but as they add on and reload what they can offer, this will be a much higher rating property in terms of class. Most people seem to agree as a hotel it's a 4-5. This place saved the vacation for me as memorial day weekend is the worst to visit, atleast the room made the trip easier to deal with. can't say the windows were well insulated as the bass blasting from the cars outside were easy to hear and keep me up. Next door wasn't too easy to hear, sound insulated pretty well in that regard.

This is a great boutique hotel! i went there for my 30th birthday and i LOVED It. Great design, AMAZING staff and good location. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the design of the room was beautiful. Some people have complained about the size of the room but i think it was perfect for 2 people. I would definitely go back.was

Clean hotel, good location and nice staff.  Very thin walls, I could hear everything our neighbors were doing in their rooms and in the hallway.  Could not sleep my entire visit due to the noise, and I left feeling tired and not a bit relaxed.

After my previous extremely unhappy review, I feel in the interest of fairness that I must write a follow up. All the previous comments were fair and realistic regarding room size, lack of doorman/bellman upon arrival, etc. Since that posting (and conversations with management) much has changed. We were given a new room that was far quieter. The rooftop bar is exquisite. The remainder of the stay brought more than adequate numbers of very friendly and attentive staff. Overall, a good place for a couple for a several days stay. The location is perfect!

Loved this hotel... very romantic. Just don't stay here with anyone you are not 100% comfortable with. The bathroom walls are completely see-thru glass so there is no privacy while using the toilet or shower! Other than that the location is perfect... right in the heart of the South Beach action!

This is an ultra modern boutique hotel a block away from the beach.  The service was an "A" not an "A+" because of a slight attitude with one of the overnight employees, but it still gets 5 stars in my book.  I love the rooms.   Hint, to turn on the bathroom light fully...press and hold the icon that represents the restroom...I wish I'd have figured that out sooner...I think its the same with the shower.   The roof bar and pool are spectacular! Sleek modern and trendy...If you don't like a modern esthetic this is not the hotel for you.  If you like clean lines and interior design done well...This is an awesome place!

Frugal, quirky, germaphobe searching for a suitable South Beach hotel: That was me until I discovered the Palmer House. I spent countless hours reading reviews for other hotels, none of which struck the balance of cleanliness, service, location, safety, and price I'd sought. Soon I realized that most Miami accommodations are pricey and expensiveness does not equal quality. Not only was the standard room comparable if not cheaper than many of its competitors, the peace of mind and relaxing setup proved priceless.

Sounds from other rooms were minimal however; I could sometimes hear the loud employees at the hotel next door because its kitchen and patio area faced my room. The lighting felt weird at first: subdued blue and white hues. Rooms have showers only, something I am not used to but began to enjoy. The staff was attentive without stalking. One even offered to take a picture of me while I was outside taking pictures of the décor. Phone calls and internet service are additional charges, but beach chairs and towels are free. For me, parking was a non-issue because the hotel is in walking distance to the beach and restaurants. Those who don't mind using public transportation can catch the SOBE local one street over for a quarter or splurge on a $5 all-day pass to explore other parts of town. Also, the Airport Flyer provides cheap service, so there's no need for a cab to and from the location.

This a really nice gem in South Beach, it's a newer property and is really beautiful. The finishes and lighting are amazing, I toured a few rooms types, all of them have a high-end feel. The rooftop pool and bar is very relaxing.  The restaurant had great food- I had Alaskan King Crab appetizer = awesome...and the steak sandwich was to die for. They have a home made rocky road desert that comes semi-frozen in a glass mason jar, the best I've ever had!

Hello fellow yelpers,

I wanted to share the wonderful experience we had at Dream SoBe. It was a lovely time and the staff was very friendly and helpful...and the food at Tudor House restaurant was totally delicious! Make sure you go at least one time! Be sure to try their huevos rancheros, get a glass of prosecco (the $9 one), try the homemade oreos, and order the branzino for dinner.

The pool is great. We were there during the week so no problem finding a spot. They even have beds to lay in! Service poolside by is great, especially if there is a girl named Oxana there. She was so sweet.

The lighting system is the rooms is funky but you get over it. Its still worth the stay. The bed is very comfy and the pillows are sooo good!  The decor all over the hotel is fabulous and the hotel itself is in prime location!  Valet ain't cheap so if you can try to park around the corner for $15 try to do so.

If you choose to stay here you won't be disappointed.

Excellent customer service! Great location. Staff was super friendly; always opening doors and welcoming us back. They give you free chairs and towels for the beach. Rooms are nice and clean; they were updated considering most hotels in that area are really old and stale looking. Would definitely stay here again!

I came here for a little mini vacation with my fiancé. Awesome! Is it expensive? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. It was the sexiest hotel I've stayed in. I am very frugal with my money so for me to book a hotel like this was daring. We were in and out of our hotel room several times a day and each time we came back to a spotless room. Your housekeepers must be part ninja! They were awesome! We enjoyed an elaborate lunch of the rooftop. I felt like a damn Kardashian, Lounging with a canopy, and sipping a mojito while chowing down on carpaccio. I will definitely try and be back. Although South Beach bankrupted me for awhile.

Wow! What great customer service, and what a neat hotel.

Location itself is worth a try. It is located close to everything. We could walk to shop, beach, dinner and out.

The room we had was on the corner of the Tudor House building, and we did not hear anything but expected street noise. The room itself was smaller, but the layout and decor was great. The mini bar in the room had everything you could want to crave and more. the windows looking out to Miami beach gave the room a nice feel. I think the corner room may have had more windows and it was neat to open up the curtains and see all the action of people going by.

The rooftop is great here. The way it is setup is really inviting and neat.

I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Miami Beach. It was not right on the beach, but was great for everything else. The staff was very helpful and happy to have you there.

Dream South Beach is a very modern sleek take on boutique hotels for south beach. The rooms were made to definitely create moods and ambience with the decor and lighting. The details in decor are not to be taken for granted - the only negative I found was the space of the entire room including the bathroom and storage space.

A real great hotel. Good service, pleasant staff and a pool area to match. The rooms were exactly what i needed for a weekend stay. Small and compact but still comfortable, clean and has everything that you'll need. The roof top pool area was always busting but not busy. Great cocktails flowed and occasionally they throw a party in the afternoon. Would definitely stay here again!

Pros: The location of this hotel can't be beat! It's walking distance to EVERYTHING shopping, beach, restaurants, clubs, etc...The decor is very nice, modern and sexy.  I also like how the lights automatically come on when you enter the room.  The staff is very helpful and housekeeping come to your room twice a day 1st time to clean it, then again later in the evening to pull your covers back, move pillows, and place chocolates on your bed that says sweet dreams (how nice).  The rooftop pool is pretty to sit relax and sip an (expensive) cocktail because it was pretty costly.  The pool is only 3ft tho so dont plan on really getting your swim on.
Cons: When we arrived we had to pay an unexpected deposit of $300 that was returned when we left but wouldve been nice to have known about this prior to , or during booking the room.  The mini bar was so overpriced that it wasnt even worth using, it also filled the entire fridge so we couldnt store anything in it.  No ice machines.  No iron (but they'll bring you one if you need it).  The elevators are extremely slow so we took the stairs most of the time.  Very small rooms.  The bathroom was uncomfortable at times because I like privacy when I have to do a #2 (ya know!) LOL and I would prefer a body length mirror to make sure I was Miami ready before I left the room.
Overall I loved the location, the lighting made it very sexy and cozy if we wanted more light we just opened the window in the daytime. The bed was super comfy. Clean, no bugs, and quiet.  It was definitely a pleasant stay but I think I'll look around a little more next time and if I cant find anything bigger with a balcony in this location for this price then I'll definitely be coming back here....

I stayed here with my wife during an overnight in Miami. We decided to stay here because it seemed very "South Beach" and definitely not like the type of hotel we would normally stay at. Since we were only staying for one night, we only had a backpack and a tote bag and no need for the bellman to take our stuff up to our room, but he accompanied us anyway. I found that weird and unnecessary until I realized he was doing it so he could give us a tutorial on the bizarre and confusing (albeit cool) lighting system. All the lighting options are fun, but it can be a little frustrating when you just want to take a shower and can't figure out how to work the lights so you don't have to do it in the dark. As others have noted, there is little, if any, privacy so if you are sharing a room with a significant other, make sure you're at least at the point in the relationship where you are comfortable going to the bathroom in front of each other. The location is great, but it I did not like that they bundle the resort fee and wi-fi charge into one. Since we were only there for the night, we had no way to take advantage of the two beach chairs and towels that are covered by the fee, so I tried to make sure I got my $7.99 worth of the wi-fi.

Vacationed here 7/18/12, been so busy haven't had time for a review, but this hotel is def. due one!!  The people who work here are absolutely amazing.  Was traveling with a girlfriend of mine, when we arrived we got to our room and kinda freaked out.  1 bed, very small and glass doors so you could see EVERYTHING.  Fine if your alone, or a couple, but we were neither.  Went downstairs and explained we weren't comfortable, Victor (guy at front desk) went to talk to manager (Jennifer) and we were accommodated with a double...very satisfied after!
Everyone at the front desk was amazing and the restaurant Tudor House was delicious.  Unfortunately we didn't have time to check out the roof top pool (too busy staying out late to catch it the next day!) but we heard it was nice.  I'm not sure if it was off season but the hotel was quiet.  Not very busy, but we liked this, we were able to sleep without being bothered by loud neighbors.
What sealed the deal for us was the staff.  My girlfriend left her camera into the couch in the sitting area.  We notified security who pulled up video tape and caught the person who took it.  Thanks so much to head of security (I believe his name was John Santana?) who took hold of the situation and is getting her camera back.  Really, the best staff ever.
Every place that Victor and Jennifer recommended, we went to and loved it.  Its also a great location, just a block from the beach.  Enjoyed our stay and will be back!

Had a GREAT stay here with my boyfriend recently.  We read the other reviews to learn about the stellar location, beautiful rooms and helpful staff, and I wanted to add a few things:
The rooms are plenty big if you're used to staying in urban hotels.  We didn't have any problems laying out our carry-ons, hanging things and keeping everything reasonably tidy.  I imagine if you have tons of huge suitcases that you may have an issue, but I imagine that would be virtually anywhere on the beach.
The lighting is NOT that dark if you open the window. I had no problem doing my makeup in the vanity in the room.  Its not like a full-on cosmetic magnifying mirror but its totally usable.
The bathroom situation isnt crazy like you might see on trip adviser.  Yes, the toilet is enclosed with a glass door but the bathroom area is separated from the sleeping area by two heavy swinging doors.  Close the door and pop on the TV for 5 minutes while your sig other is in there any all is well.  Totally didn't bother us.
The rooftop pool is AWESOME and the towel girl is super duper sweet.  She was really one of my favorite people we met on the whole trip.  Also, while they have a full menu and poolside service, lots of people brought their own water on to the roof (us included) since it's like $6 a bottle up there.  The drinks are expensive but hey...its a vacation! The lounge chairs are super comfortable and there's a beautiful view of the beach. We spent a few hours every day up there.

Late checkout wasn't a problem either.  We would absolutely stay here again.  -1 star for not having a bar/restaurant of their own...they share with The Tudor next door which looked pretty lame every time we walked by.

Nice room  small but pretty cool. Stay away from elevators as they are extremely loud and slooooow. Roof top bar looks really nice but pool is tiny and both days I checked it out there was not a soul up there including a bar tender. Good location and otherwise not to bad for the price.

After seeing the Dream hotel on TV shows, I guess we were underwhelmed once we got there for a pool party..  It IS nice and the people ARE friendly and down-to-earth.  But, I guess it's not carazy amazing or anything...  It is funky.  But, I guess you can tell it's an older hotel with some DWR on top of that.

Palmer House saved my life!!! Not only was the room chic and SEXY, but the service was IMPRESSIVE!!! I stayed here for 3 nights and every night was a relaxing getaway.

Someone is always there to smile and greet you. I love their staff! Always at your service and great with conversation. They are remarkable when it comes to service. I couldn't help but to tip and I never tip at hotels unless I get room service.

The room was FANTASTIC! Glass doors for the shower room and bathroom. OOooOh, so sexy! I loved showering. You can fit 3 people in the shower comfortably. THREE SOME!! J/K! =)

The king-sized bed was soooo comfy!!! Egyptian cotton and the fluffiest pillows. I slept like a baby. I wanted to steal a pillow!

The lighting can be a bit confusing, but I got a hang of it. Once you get that down, you can admire the hues of blue that surround the room and the romantic bedside chandelier. I love chandeliers!

The mirror also had an elegant lighting to it. Thank God because I love staring at myself. LOL, j/k!

I didn't mind staying in this room more than going out because it was so enjoyable. The flat screen tv with HD and HBO also helped.

It's only 2 short blocks away from the beach, and the rooms are stowed away well enough to avoid the street noise. Ahh, simply perfect.

I can't give it 5 stars because $30 valet parking is the only option, which is inconvenient, no full-sized mirror, the doors inside the rooms are a bit heavy, and because I got a lot of bug bites on my legs. However, I know this place is eager for comments and suggestions, and only want to continue improving the hotel. I'm sure that these issues will be fixed in no time!

I would stay here again.

I had an excellent experience here. Very friendly and helpful staff! The room was cute and had fun lighting options. The rooms have blackout curtains, so I slept in way longer than usual.

This hotel is also a great location. One block from the beach and very close to many bars and clubs.

My only complaint is that the room doors slam shut and it's a little disturbing if a lot of people are coming and going in the hall.

Stayed here for work.  I have to say, I am very impressed with what they did to this place.  The room is amazing.  Very modern. Almost too modern! There are not light switches in this room for an easy on/off.  All lights are controlled by the buttons on the wall.  It really is cool.  You just have to get used to it.

-5 star room
-Great friendly staff
-Recently renovated
-Great lobby

-Room is on the small side.  Not a con if your ok with that.
-Didn't have a pool when I was there.  This would be a 5 star if they had a great pool.  Looking forward to when they open this up.

I would go five stars if the place had bigger rooms and a pool.

Superior service from people that genuinely care for their clients. If you go miami beach i think you definitely need to experience this type of boutique hotel

Nice for a weekend getaway but doesn't have the glamour of the Dream in New York. The rooms are on the small side, but I loved the Moroccan themed decor and the lighting (though it can be hard to find things!)  The decor is unique and has an almost romantic trendy hip feel to it. All of the staff were pretty friendly.  From getting us a taxi to checking us in, most of the staff were very nice. However, it definitely doesn't have that luxe feel of other South Beach hotels.  You don't necessarily feel like you are entering into a chic oasis. I don't think we were ever greeted upon entering and the lobby is not necessarily welcoming.
Having said that, it definitely does not have a snooty air to it.  There are a couple of things that keep it from being a destination hotel. Most of the services have been outsourced. From the valet to the beach chair and umbrella setup, there is not the coherence of being part of a getaway escape.  The lack of a good restaurant (since The Tudor House isn't really a Zakarian destination) keeps guests roaming to other hotel. The Tudor House feels kind of like an after thought in terms of decor.  But, that's fine...we had plenty of good eating in Miami and David's Cuban Cafe is across the street (recommend this over the pool food).  Pool food isn't bad, but David's is cheaper, yummier, and faster. Also the guests weren't exactly what we were expecting...ok I'm going to sound like a snob here. But a guy hitting on me in the elevator wearing a Boobies Make Me Smile t-shirt, an overweight woman in a horrible blonde wig picking her boyfriend's pimples in the pool, tatted up groups in big jerseys and muffin top bearing tops reeking of pot and of course, the yelling in the hallways all night is not exactly my idea of the cool jetsetting clientele you expect from Dream. There is no street noise, but you can definitely hear whatever noise happens in other rooms and the hallways.
The hotel is around the corner from the Versace mansion. Very cool. And the beach is only a block away. Lots of places to drink on Ocean Drive and not too far from Lincoln Road. The rooftop pool is fun. The drinks there are great (try the Envy!) It was a bit hard to get our food and drinks orders in though.  I thought the dj at the pool party was great. Definitely had me jamming there.
Overall, though I think the hotel is struggling especially compared to the hotter hotels further down like the SLS, The Shore Club, etc.  The vibe in general on South Beach towards that way definitely feels more upscale. Nonetheless, this is a fun weekend jaunt and good for a short couples trip or girls getaway.

My first time to South Beach and my friend and I chanced it by choosing the "mystery hotel" on bookit.com .  From the moment we walked in until our grand exit in the pouring rain, Dream was just superb.  One of the highlights is the rooftop pool (something out of a magazine!) along with the Tudor restaurant's grilled cheese and tomato soup! Wow!

The only reason I didn't give the hotel 5 stars is due to the continuing problems with the wifi (that wasn't free) and kept charging my bill every time I logged on.  At check out everything was cleared up, but it was annoying as I was trying to get some work done quickly.

Also, a huge shout out to Thomas, the concierge, who is awesome at his job and gave us some excellent recommendations while we were there.  First class all the way! Thanks Dreams for making our girl's trip one to remember!

Good location. Great roof top pool. Staff was helpful and nice. Bed was comfy. For the price $300 including parking it was not fantastic. The lighting is not for everyone but my wife and I liked it. Noisy if staying on first floor with people above but it is an old hotel redone so part of that is the nature of the building. I would stay there again - but for the price you can do better

good location, crappy parking, but great valet and friendly staff.  the rooms are clean, the bed is big, but the lighting is weird blue.  too many buttons!  no place to put your bags, and the closet is small, but they have hangers. don't touch the super overly priced mini bar (candy bars are $6).  you have to pay for wifi per electronic device and per day.

i don't know if i like the glass doors for the toilet and the shower, but we didn't spend a lot of time in the room.  who spends lots of time in their hotel room when you're in miami beach?!

High marks because I absolutely loved the decor of the room. Though the lighting settings in the room was probably the most confusing thing ever. We only stayed for one night but I don't think we ever got that lighting figured out. Although, to be quite honest, I can't imagine staying here for a week because I think I would get a headache from the dim lighting. (the hotel does provide additional lighting if needed). But the room as a whole was beautiful and we really enjoyed our night there. We also went to the rooftop pool for a little tanning - it was nice that they provided towel service. The pool was a bit small so I didn't try to go in. The worst thing was the elevator. There was only one for the whole building so it's a long wait! We stayed at the Tudor building and there always seemed to be random people loitering in the lobby area too (sleeping, charging their phones..??). Can't say too much about the service since we didn't interact with the staff there too much (other than check in/out).

Had the best day here! We ordered Breakfast - poolside!!! The waiter brought over our breakfast in the cutest little stoneware pots...It was so nice and relaxing that we ended up spending the day at the pool.  The decor of their rooftop pool is all white, modern, and just beautiful. It's not as high up as rooftops in NYC, but the view was nice enough to see the ocean and sunset. The pool is very small and there were only about 12 lounge chairs, but it was perfectly quiet this way. We realized halfway through the day that we think the pool may be a giant hot tub (by night?), because we found a hot tub timer and the pool did have jets...but it was not "hot". So that was a little confusing, but pretty cool if they do turn up the heat at night! Oh and I think my favorite part were the outdoor cabana-like bathrooms! Something about the all white decor inside with the cedar cabana looking doors and openness, with the ocean breeze blowing through as you are in the bathroom was pretty cool!

Be back for sure! Best place to stay on the Collins Ave Strip! Art Deco and Romance combined with luxury hotel amenities- services! Favorite place to stay in Miami, great location, beach services too!
King size  bed in each room, softest sheets, super soft plump down pillows, could sleep in that bed all day! Incredible dark shades on the windows, keep it ultra dark if needed, the coolest blue accent lights, crystal chandelier and accent lights, just lots of detail to the craftsmanship of the room, incredible.
Tiny perfect tile in the showers and the walls have numerous textures that are done beautifully.
Glass doors to the bathrooms and showers, so no privacy, but it's all good with me..just make sure who you share the room with is ok with those comforts as well. Could be awkward.
Quiet hotel, no animals, no kids, no loud college kids, just pleasant oasis in each room.
Large screen tv and mini bar stocked with everything you can think of.
Pricey though, be careful, 5.00 a water.
Best location on the Collins Ave strip, not so congested or noisy.
Beautiful roof top pool and lounge areas with bars and big screen TV, just wasnt open this weekend for rennovations.
Will be open this next weekend..Couldnt have been better in SB! Luxury, price, value, and experience of service is fantastic!
Did I mention there's mother of pearl inlay in the elevators too!
Water falls outside and huge lounge chairs on the front entrance porch, pretty blue lights at night, the best concierge.
Love, love Dream HOUSE!

A friend and I stayed here Feb 2nd 2012. We had a superb stay. The staff really made us feel at home. The rooms are well appointed, the lighting leaves something to be desired, but that is what make it hip and trendy I guess. The roof top pool was perfect. Peaceful and well maintained. I do have to mention two exceptional staff members. Victor and Oksana. Victor was so down to earth and has a true sense of what hospitality is. Oksana at the pool was simply the sweetest girl who knew what I needed even before I did.
**Don't forget to tip your towel girl (especially if its Oksana) They deserve it!**

We recently stayed at this hotel during our stay in South Beach. We were happy with the hotel and felt that way even when we left Miami and returned home. Then a week later we found that there were several unauthorized charges on our credit card left at the front desk when we checked in for incidental room charges. There were close to $350 of unauthorized charges!!! Now we are in the process of trying to dispute these charges. We are left to think that this hotel does not protect the identity of their guests due to these fraudulent charges. Such an inconvenience after what we had thought was a great trip. We are hoping for resolution ASAP!!!

Very cool place.  We came here for our honeymoon and I got the biggest room they had.  It was very nice.  I wish our view was better but I guess you can't have it all.  The decor and lighting was exceptional.  My wife wants to make our room look like the hotel room.  By the way, the room even though says suite, is really just a room and not a suite.  We did have a couch next to our bed but how that equals a suite is anyone's guess.  There is no room in the fridge so don't except to keep anything in there.  The shower has no door and you can see into it from the entrance.  The bathroom door is made of glass and doesn't fully shut tight.  Make sure you come here with something you are comfortable with.  Oh, and the lights are very confusing to work and you can't ever get it bright.  Or maybe I just couldn't figure it out.

Anyways, the food at Tudors was a bit salty for my taste but the location was so good that I had plenty of places to go to eat.  All in all, I liked it and would recommend it.  I stayed at 2 other hotels at south beach before and by far this was the best.

I heart "Dream South Beach"!!! Shout out to Wendy and Jennifer:) Very nice ladies, who helped me and my boyfriend tremendously:) These two ladies were on point about all restaurants and events in and around South Beach. The rooms are soooo cool. I love the colors and the lighting in the room. I was just so cool and groovy staying here:) I will always heart this hotel. Also the rooftop bar is lowkey, but nice and cozy to grab and drink and listen to some cool tunes.

My husband and I stayed at the Dream for 3 nights earlier this month. I really enjoyed the hotel. The location couldn't have been better. We were right between 8th street and Lincoln Blvd. Also, it was a quick walk to the beach. We got the breakfast and beach package for $20 a night, highly recommend. They reserve 2 beach chairs for you. The umbrella is extra though.

The room is small, and the sink is too. The lighting does take a little getting used to, just fiddle with it a bit to make the blue a normal color. You could hear some noise in the room, but it wasn't anything terribly bothersome. Who wants to spend too much time in their room anyway?

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Do not leave without eating at the Tudor House. Make sure you get the breakfast package as well. It was the best continental breakfast I've ever had.

For a place called Dream, I didn't manage to get much sleep at this hotel. At first I was wowed by the ambient-lit doors and the back-lit blue bedroom with dripping chandelier. But the appeal quickly waned as I discovered (after pushing the panel of six buttons to different settings in different combinations) that there was no option to turn the blue lighting off. With the exception of one setting that leaves the chandelier on, but also the desk and minibar area. The result is that you find yourself in a gloomy room where everything is cast in blue... the shower area is so dim, it made shaving a challenge. The desk and vanity lights are so dim, putting on makeup is difficult. Even the reading lights by the bed are weak. You can lift the shade behind the blue mesh curtains, but my room faced a building, and only let minimal natural light in. Not that you come to South Beach to spend time in your hotel room; but I was here for a conference, so it was a little different. You can't work in that kind of lighting.

At night, you might think it would be a welcome setting. But I found, because it looks the same day or night, my brain worked itself into an anxious frenzy about over-sleeping and, as a result, couldn't manage to get a good night's rest here. I found the bed comfortable; but the walls thin. I could hear my neighbor's cell phone, and conversations of people standing on the street nearby.

The Sun Room -- our meeting room -- was really enjoyable though. It had lots of natural light, and chic features like a gilded wall and a rooftop lounge with wet bar. I found the service to be good as well -- both the front desk, housekeeping, and breakfast room service. Location is great, as you can walk to the beach and Ocean Dr., etc.

Came to dream for their roof top party. It felt very private but not filled with snooty people. The music was fun and everyon was having a great time. The Dj's rotated every hour so that kept the place interesting through out the night. The DJs were very cool and kept the placed hype. Met people from close and far here.

The center pool definitely added a nice touch to the environment. Secretly i was hoping someone would fall in there during the night =)

The hotel is most assuredly unique and up-to-date.  Most of the "boutique" hotels in South Beach are very similar in look and accommodations - not Dream South Beach.  The hotel was completely renovated with new everything.  There is NO street noise, but you can clearly hear your neighbors in the hallway.  The furnishing are certainly above average even for this trendy area and the room rates are actually reasonable - imagine that!

Perhaps the only downside is lack of storage space.  There is no specific area for your suitcase(s) and only one and a half drawers in the closet.  However, there is a seating area directly in front of the bed which would certainly hold a suitcase or two across its width.

Also if you need a refrigerator (say for medicines), I'm not sure if the hotel has extras (the one in the room is totally full of for-purchase items.)  So check ahead.

A great hotel for just a weekend, either solo or as a couple.

- Very fun and trendy looking. The lighting has a cool, sexy feel in the rooms.
- Gorgeous rooftop pool area.
- Friendly concierge, easy check-in and check-out.
- In a fun, lively area with plenty of bars and shopping.
- Extremely comfortable bedding.

- Depending on who you're traveling with, you might not be a fan of the all-glass toilet room and shower.
- Parking situation will be $20+... But dude, you're on South Beach.
- Must be a fan of dim lighting because those rooms don't get bright at all.
- Rooms are on the small side.
- No full-length mirror.

Overall, I think I could have used some more space, but for the one night we stayed, it did the job.

Great for: out-of-towners on a short vacation.
OK for: locals looking for a brief retreat. Since this was me, I gave it 3 stars.

This place is a pretty fun place the stay. I went to the lobby bathroom and it felt like I was in a club with the dim neon lights.

We got upgraded to a junior suite, which was nice. The "suite" wasn't very big so I wonder how big a regular room is.

Our room had a similar club vibe. The lighting system was complicated as we could dim and raise different light fixtures in the room.

The bathroom has a clear door. Also, it's possible to see-through into the shower when you stand in the hallway. Basically, stay in this room with someone you are comfortable with.

The location is good. We were only a block away from the beach.

The staff was nice and greeted us everytime we left / entered the building.

The only con is that there's no parking. You can park in a nearby lot for $20 with in and out privileges though.

The reviews below are very accurate.  Really fun, small hotel right in the middle of things in South Beach.  Very friendly staff that was accommodating with everything we could have wanted.

Yes, the rooms are small, but its not like you want to spend all day walking around a giant hotel room.  Unless you do, then don't stay at the Dream.

Yes, the bathrooms have glass doors, but what people don't tell you is that you can close off the hallway to the bathroom and shower with a door.

Fun place and the blue lights add to the fun as well.

Sleep is not a priority when you are in South Beach, so you shouldn't judge the hotel by the noise level or the quality of snooze time it affords you.
Once you accept that, all SoBe hotels are to be judged on a entirely different set of metrics.
A. Room quality for time spent doing things other than sleeping but using the bed (or shower). Preferably with a partner.
B.the shower for doing things such as showering and, um, other things.
C. the lobby and the amenities
But mostly A and B.
Why five stars? Two words - blue lights.
Now I know why Viagra comes in blue pills. Schwing!
Seriously - if you can't get romantic and stay romantic in this setting , then just give it up.

One quick cab ride and I had left the high rises of downtown Miami for the other world across the bridge known as Miami Beach (or more specifically for me, South Beach). This famous land I had heard so much about was finally mine for perusal and the Dream Hotel offered the perfect launching pad for all of my adventures. The rooms may not be massive suites, but they are top of the line nonetheless, and offer a very unique aesthetic that could have come close to contrived but just narrowly avoids it. I very highly recommend this hotel for those staying in South Beach, and even if you can't swing it you should at least come by the rooftop pool for one of the best views around.

The staff that greets you and takes care of anything you need from entrance to exit are some of the friendliest you will ever encounter. This is a pretty common feeling among luxury hotels, but especially so here, and when you consider I scored this place for only $170 a night (including unlimited wi-fi and a guaranteed chair on the beach every day) you realize what a ridiculous bargain this hotel really is. They answered any and all questions I had about the hotel and the area in general in just seconds, not minutes, and any time I called for something extra for the room I had it right away. Even the staff on the rooftop ( flickr.com/photos/wedoit… ), notoriously off-putting in areas like this, were incredibly courteous went beyond the normal level of  I would have expected.

Room design may be the biggest detractor for most people here, as it certainly doesn't follow any sort of standard formula. From the orange-hued Turkish looking pass-through lobby ( flickr.com/photos/wedoit… ) to the rooms themselves, this place is designed to have a striking visual impact, love it or hate it. Personally I loved it, even though I'm not a fan of modern design, but perhaps it's because it was so over the top and a bit futuristic that it almost felt whimsical. The weirdest element by far though, and the one you really need to be aware of before booking here, are the glass door bathroom areas ( flickr.com/photos/wedoit… ) for both the toilet/sink and shower. There is a latticed door you can close off to "secure" these areas away from the bedroom, but it still feels rather imposing if you're with friends instead of lovers. Luckily for you the bar is stocked ( yelp.com/biz_photos/kdcI… ) with plenty of top shelf liquor and something called a Love Box (filled with various bedroom accessories) to help everyone quickly switch from one to the other, so you can sneak off to the bathroom in peace.

Aside from how comfortable the beds are though, you really won't be spending too much time in your actual room (hopefully), so the rest of the details are really rather irrelevant. What is pertinent, and quite deserving of your attention, is the pool on the rooftop, which is surrounded by little coves and cushions for you to lounge around on while you soak up the sun. I happened to be here in September, so once I had to relinquish my beach chair every day at 6PM I would head up here to get a little more sun exposure before heading out for the evening. I never did try the food, and the drinks are rather pricey, but I think mostly worth it to be able to sip them in the pool while you relax and enjoy the views. If you manage to sneak up here during the morning (I happened to luckily still be awake and waiting on Alexandra) it offers one of the most beautiful sunrise settings I've ever seen ( flickr.com/photos/wedoit… ).

I heard this hotel has the same owners as the Dream Hotel in NYC. If you're familiar with both places, you will recognize the similarities immediately. The Dream has the same signature blue lighting (like a blacklight minus the glow) under their beds and the rooms are smaller than a broom closet just like at The Palmer House. If you are not a "size-queen", then you will love this hotel! Especially, when it comes to the "size of your bill" when you check out.

The Palmer House has higher-end construction (better than most hotels) and top of the line fixtures (I think Grohe faucets if I remember correctly), decor, design, smart (but potentially difficult for those who are not tech savvy) lighting, etc. The construction was extremely well done. The tile work in the bathrooms... impeccable! If I ever built a house in Miami, I'd be interested in hiring the same people that built this place.

The only downside was that the linens seemed like they were a bit on the low-end side but overall the room had a cozy/modern/blue bordello-ish feel to it.

And unfortunately, there was no room service at the time I stayed. However, I had heard they are in the process of adding a restaurant and a spa to the property. *insert jackhammer sound here*

I didn't have any room for my suitcases.... but hey, when you're in Miami, who needs clothes anyway, right!?

Great central location to the beach, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. The Palmer House met my expectations and I could see myself checking it out again on a future visit. I highly recommend staying here if you don't plan on being in your room much and want to keep your accommodation expenses down while experiencing all that South Beach has to offer.

Although, I'd say shacking up with your favorite hottie and NOT leaving the room the whole trip should be a good option too once room service is available. Champagne, whipped cream and strawberries anyone? Well, unfortunately you will have to wait but they say good things come to those that do anyway. *wink wink*

This is a straight up sexy hotel.  The bed is back-lit. There is a bedside chandelier with a dimmer. They call the bathroom the WC (so Euro, I love it). The shower is a cubby in the wall, much like a closet, but with good water pressure. The doors to all of the above are clear glass-  there are no secrets in a Dream room!

Alas, I was not in Miami for anything sexy (unless work is sexy, in which case, I had an uber-sexy time)... But, knowing I had my swanky European room with a big comfy bed (with turn-down service!) waiting for me each night made my time in Miami all the better.

Perhaps the best part (besides the close but not too close to the action location and array of light switches with functions I still can't decipher) was the free champagne for ladies each night. I love bubbles- they are an easy way into my heart. And Dream gave me a few glasses each night- gratis- and I was happy. The rooftop pool bar served up this delightful extra, so while lounging in a white-upholstered oasis surrounded by elegant (and some Euro-trashy), usually Spanish speaking people made me feel like a Bama-girl-gone-fancy.

One major issue: no coffee in my room and no free coffee onsite. As a caffeine addict this was troublesome. But hey, each room did come with a Love Box in the mini-bar... That makes up for it???

When in Miami, check out the Dream... you'll be wowed by the decor and grounds, flabbergasted by the electrical systems, and tipsified by the free champagne and blue-hued lighting... You won't regret it- I know because I'm already scheduled to return, and I'm thrilled. :)

The wall to the restroom is glass as well as the shower room

The customer service is also impeccable!
They really want to make their guests feel at home

I highly recomend staying here!

Just finished up a long weekend here and was disappointed.

The room was okay - funky and I liked the Moroccan decor in general, and the bed was probably the best I've had in a hotel; but the lack of privacy mentioned in other reviews is definitely accurate, the toiletries provided were awful, and the room service menu was limited (and closed early). Our room also had a funny smell. Rooftop pool area is relaxing though we didn't even bother with the bar, and the restaurant was always deserted so we didn't try it either.

Location is convenient but I actually wasn't super comfortable, lots of sketchiness around. If I returned to Miami I would opt for a larger place like the W or Loews, or boutique like Delano or Betsy (of course these are pricier but it would be worth it).

If you believe in blue healing, this hotel will be a Dream come true. The beds, the walls, the showers, the floors, the low-hanging chandelier, everything is a cool, sultry, backlit ultramarine color. The shades are drawn, lights are low. The sizeable, plush beds serve as the focal point of the dark, private room. As you can imagine, I wished I was there on a romantic getaway, but alas, it was for a work conference so all the sexiness was wasted :(

At first the push button scenario for all the lights was a little spaceship-like, and I was longing for a simple switch or lamp pull. As my stay went on though, I got used to the setup of The Dream, and I ended up liking the blue-future vibe and found it pretty darn cool. The lobby area was plush and stylish and the location in the heart of South Beach was definitely convenient for bar and restaurant hopping.

Upstairs, the all-white pool deck was sizzling and consistently packed with sexy people swimming, sunbathing, and just being sexy. Come to think of it, that was the uniting theme of South Beach as a whole. The in-house lounge, The Highbar, was a great little chill spot with delectable cocktails themed after each of the seven deadly sins. Nice touch.

All in all, I found The Dream to be a unique, novelty type of hotel. If you're looking for somewhere to stay for two weeks and feel at home, this probably isn't your place. But if you want to splurge on some over-the-top bells and whistles and have a sexified mini-stay, the Dream will grant your wishes and then some.

Staff was very friendly - especially Ms. Aide at the pool!  Rooftop pool was great!  Sunny and great lounge chairs/beds.
Rooms were a little strange, small and very dark.  Bright during the day but only with natural light.  Very hard to see in the evenings.  No full body mirror and no real separation between bathroom area and bedroom.
Not the cleanest place - on one occasions we found a hair in an our eggs, later that day there was a beetle in our salad.  Our orders were also always wrong - both drinks and meals - but I noticed this a lot in Miami in general.  Even at up scale restaurants.  The Dream was mostly couples.  Depending on the day the pool was either quiet and relaxing or loud and sloppy.

I loved the room, even though it was a little dark. The boutique-y decor and lighting set the mood - not that we need help ;).
The one thing that my boyfriend didn't like was that there was no privacy for the toilet. I didn't mind though, haha!
The elevator SUCKS and takes FOREVER and there aren't really views from the window or the pool.
The rooftop pool is small and only about 3'6" deep, but it gets the job done. They also need to play music at the pool. I think the mood would've been more "up" if they played some house/techno-ish music.
The service at the rooftop pool was good though and the drinks were phenomenal. I liked the drink with champagne, raspberries and Saint Germain (forgot it's name).
I would love to go back to the Dream hotel in South Beach soon!

First I would like to start this review by saying that I come from Manhattan, so I am used to being squeezed into small spaces, and found the room size to be fine. I am sure many people who are used to larger living spaces may have an issue with the size of the rooms here. The bed does take up much of the space, but it is comfy!

I liked the overall design of the room. It had an Alice in Wonderland in space type feel to it, and I slept like a baby in the giant bed. I didn't mind the glass bathrooms, but I can see how more conservative couples, or friends may have an issue with someone seeing them do their business. However, there is a giant door that separates the bedroom from the bathroom hall so privacy is not impossible. I also didn't find the lighting controls to be as difficult as others claimed.

As for the noise level in the room. Paper thin walls are a part of the South Beach experience. Many of the buildings are historic and protected. When new hotels pop up they renovate old buildings, but parts of the building and their structure are protected, and can not be changed. The Dream is much quieter than staying in another hotel on the strip where they blast music all night long, have tons of people walking by outside, and have the same paper thin walls. I suggest packing a pair of ear plugs if the noise bothers you (that's what I do), or if you don't want to do that then stay at a new construction like the W hotel.

The roof deck is nice, and a great place to  be in the sun and escape the South Beach tourist crowds. The pool side food is actually pretty good too, but pricey. While the hotel is not beach front,  it is located just behind the Versace Mansion and is in a great location. We had no problem walking from the hotel to all of the spots that we wanted to see.

I only had one complaint about the hotel which is what kept me from giving it five stars. I would have really liked to see the pool deck open at night, and have something going on. I was really disappointed go up to the roof deck on a Saturday night to find it completely dead. It would have made a great pre-bar spot.

We decided to get this hotel last summer based on the pretty pictures on their website and the yelp reviews but I have to say, I did not like it. First of all, it's about 2-3 blocks from the beach so close enough but I had imagined it was literally on the beach. Secondly, it feels more like a NY hotel than a Miami one based on the size. The rooms are SOOO small that there is practically NO WHERE to put your luggage. We were basically jumping over our suitcases over the duration of our stay. The bathrooms have clear windows so plan to stay with people you're comfortable seeing you nekkie. Furthermore, the bathrooms were so small and the lighting was the worst. I felt like I was in Studio 54 in the 80s (ok maybe that's just how I envision it to have looked in the 80s). It was nearly impossible to do our makeup. The hotel is just really small overall and I never plan to stay here again. I think.

"if you love a great location, thin walls, loud music, and cozy(or small) rooms this place is for you"
The hotel is in a great location right in the middle of everything in sobe. that is about where the magic stops. the rooms are very small, I've been in cruise ship rooms bigger. the walls super thin
which makes sleeping in almost impossible. not to mention that you can hear everyones bathroom schedule (unless your into that kind of thing)

with the second tower rooftop bar be ready for a music filled night till about 2 am which is early for sobe. but chances are if your staying this close to the club's then, your out anyway.. also if you do stay here and they put you next to the elevator run as far as you can back to the front desk and change rooms trust me.... trust me. all in all would I stay here again... no. with the area so small and plenty of cabs I would choose a higher quality hotel with better amenities and sound proofing. and just cab it anywhere else

Straight up: this place is weird.

One of those hotels that's too trendy for it's own good, and I'm saying that as a sometimes-hip 28 year old. I can't imagine what would have gone down if my parents stayed here. Although, this is South Beach so I'll cut them some slack, but don't expect a relaxing beachy spot.

What I liked:
-friendly staff
-great (but kind of small) rooftop pool
-nice location in the middle of the South Beach action
-turndown service complete with chocolate
-comfy bed

What I didn't like:
-utter lack of natural light
-small rooms
-lack of privacy in rooms (I really hope you didn't book a room expecting to share it with a friend!)
-noisy: thin walls and lots of street noise
-inexplicable and complicated "light switch"
-confusing and inefficient layout: no towel rack, awkward and heavy doors
-so, so, so dark. Especially in the shower and if you couldn't figure out how to open the windowshade (it was complicated, I promise)

Thank you John for the message. I understand safety is a priority. The small plastic cup used was the kind given at fast food places for water. I would recommend using plasticware that is meant to resemble glassware.

The high prices for drinks at a club or hotel like Mynt or W are to be expected. But not at smaller venues that are presumably trying to attract people.

Joining other big mysteries of the universe is the mystery about how this hotel has such a high rating. I have stayed in Holiday Inns that were better put together than this hotel. Some of my highlights:

1. Paper thin walls (I had to be moved once) so thin I could hear conversations in the next room.
2. Glass walls on the bathroom. The staff had to put up duct taped sheets of paper. Classy.
3. Tiny rooms with very little storage space.
4. Possibly the worst designed light switches I have ever seen in a hotel room. My favorite part is how they stayed lit up at night very brightly, illuminating the room when the lights were off. Yup, had to cover that with duct tape too.
5. The room was uncomfortably hot. The engineer literally told me the thermostat wouldn't go below 68 because it would freeze. Are you serious?
6. In a 4 story building wait times for the elevators were 6-10 minutes. Also the elevators smelled like someone had just washed their very dirty pet dog in the them.
7. No gym in the hotel? The Hotel staff told me they chose to do a spa instead. (IE: Revenue generation.)
8. Rooms too dark: Even when we figured out how to get all the lights on, the room was still way to dark, even with the shades open in the middle of the day.

The few good things: nice rooftop area, beautiful views with really hard working, nice staff. The Cleaning staff was nice too. Decent beds.

Update: I wanted to add that Peggy, the GM, was very nice and responsive.  I feel sadly that the problems we faced were beyond her ability to influence.

I will never stay at this hotel again and it has soured me on the whole Dream Hotel chain.

The quintessential best rooftop in Miami- realxed, cozy, and your own little slice of the good life, very classy. Our friend Britt rented it for her birthday the other night and what a time. Allison the marketing manager was friendly, accommodating and got the party squared away. Egor the bartender was on point, personable and met our every request. He even remembered us from last weekend when we dropped by to check it out before the party. This is not typical in Miami. I will gladly stay here when I am in town and rent it out for a party.

I stayed at the Dream Hotel for my birthday from 5/16/13 to 5/20/13. I have stayed at many South Beach Hotels and the Dream is one of the best. The staff is awesome and I will recommend this Hotel to everyone. I want to give a special thanks to two of the staff member who worked the roof top deck by the name of Tanya and Kayla. These two ladies rock! They were so pleasant and made everyone feel like the most important person there!

I had very few dislikes which were very minor. The rooms are very romantic but because of the ambiance the lighting is not to bright. This was only an issue when doing makeup.

Overall, I had a great stay and a great birthday weekend!

Very cool rooms, but lacking some expected conveniences. No coffee maker in the rooms... You have to order room service if you want your morning coffee. I've never been to a hotel that doesn't offer complimentary morning coffee. Nice to have WiFi, but you have to re-sign in every time you turn on your device. Kind of a pain.

I can't speak to the Dream as a hotel -- as I didn't stay here. But, I can certainly opine on the hotel as a decadent meeting space. If you're looking to meet up with colleagues in a gilded spaceship filled with ornate whatsthats and mirrored walls, you can, certainly, do worse.

To be fair, my colleagues and I transformed the penthouse (complete with spiral staircase access to private roof deck) into a meeting space so form vs. function and all that. To walk in, you feel as though you've been transported to an Arabian palace circa 1986. I don't mean that as an insult. I'm trying to be descriptive and to let you know of the unironic kitsch that is this space. Giant gold rectangular seating (though there's photographic evidence of the whiteness of the couches). Giant white table (to the side; brought in special for our group. The regular table in the middle of the room is low to the ground and... gold). Giant gold pillows. Giant columns. Mirrored walls. Giant shimmering gold wall. More white. Crystals dripping from the ceiling. Enter the bed chamber to experience the blackout windows (seriously, not such a practical idea; light is life-giving). Giant bed. Giant bathroom. After being surrounded by so much over-the-top larger-than-life opulence (again, in a slightly tacky way), you might start to feel as though you're Christina Aguilera in 1999. That's right: a genie in a bottle. Do you dream of Jeannie? You betta dream of me! Heeey!

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in so far.
The room was great and romantic. When we first got there, our room had an air conditioning problem but it was immediately that we were given another room.
The bed, shower and toilets were extremely clean.
Towels were changed daily and cleaning was fast and amazing.
I cannot stress enough how clean the room and everything was.
Service was amazing. There was nothing that we could ask for that they did not have and as soon as we placed the request on the phone, someone brought it up to us in a matter of few minutes (less than 2 which was pretty impressive).
you get treated excellent.
Their pool is very clean and cozy. They have long chairs and beds and provide you with umbrellas and towels. It is a great spot to relax during the afternoon.
The high bar had yummy drinks and happy hour from 4-8 were everything was half priced. $6 cocktails and martinis and $3 beers. The best part was enjoying a cold drink on the pool.
They also provide free ice-cold water with lemon on the pool.
We have not had the chance to try their restaurants so no comment on that.
Their concierges Youssef and Jasmine were great help to tell you were to go and what to do. They also provided us with club passes to avoid waiting in line! They were very helpful and friendly.
I will definitely be back and soon and I recommend everyone who would like to enjoy a south beach vacation to stay here!!!!!
Thanks Dream for this amazing stay.

This is one of many Miami Beach hotels that I describe as a "South Beach Funky" boutique property. Dream uses two buildings with a "Naked Taco" restaurant on first floor of the corner building and hotel front desk and reception lobby across an alleyway from the second building. I stayed for two nights and my room was equipped with a tempurpedic style memory foam bed... It was an outstanding bed and enhanced my sleep quality. The use if lighting effects, furniture design and overall room layout enhanced the typically small south beach hotel room. However, there is little staff virtually no services or amenities and after 11 PM you must enter the corner building from a side alleyway door as the front main door is Locke down without room key access. Despite all the funky weird aspects of this property, I enjoyed staying there and the minibar had some good stuff... Expensive as usual. I am only giving Dream 3 stars because of the missing services that I have come to expect from any hotel and the lack of vehicle parking or other facilities that would have added one or more additional stars. The bed alone is worth the 3 star rating! You won't want to have a car with you if you stay here.

This hotel is pretty nice, I stopped over for a pool party during miami music week. The staff here was friendly and nice and got us in quickly. After taking a VERY slow elevator up the 5 floors (wish there were stairs!) we got to the roof deck. It was a nice setup with a few nooks and great seating. The views were nice and good people watching.

The drink prices were actually pretty reasonable considering the location (comparing this to other high end hotel bars in sobe). Service was fast and overall it was a good pool party.

I'm going to dock a star for the fact that it was supposed to go until 10pm, and they closed at about 8pm since it wasn't busy enough. Too bad I didn't get to see the DJs I wanted to see. They also had some permitting issues with one of the DJ areas on the bottom floor and had to close that down early. Be wary when they say they will have 3 DJs in this venue, it doesn't work.

Sooo South Beach, but when in Rome...or Miami in this case.  After I got over the $35 valet parking (so not part of my "Dream") I appreciated the funky, modern decor of this hotel. I had stayed at their sister hotel in Manhattan the month before and found it to be a similar experience.

My room was comfortable and I enjoyed my short stay besides sleeping in the light due to the light touch pads that I found impossible to operate.  I actually spent more time camped out in the conference room/suite that my colleagues were holding meetings in all week. It was definitely one of the funkier places I've attended a conference. Fortunately, it was an unbearably hot summer day (at least for me who was 7 months pregnant) or I would have skipped work and taken the stairs from the suite up to the sweet rooftop pool.

I was bummed to discover they didn't have a gym onsite, but they do offer $15 passes to the nearby Crunch. I decided my pathetic pregnancy workout wasn't worthy of Crunch or $15 so passed, but perhaps I'll give it a shot next time I'm living the South Beach "dream."

Really torn on this spot.

Does it scream South Beach? Yes.
Is it swanky? Yes.
Does it have a rooftop pool? Yes.
Is the staff nice? Yes.

Does it have weird functioning pieces of the room? Yes.
All of the lights are run by touch pads in the room that aren't really user friendly in the way of how they are marked or consistency of running.

Is the room extremely dark? Yes.
Which is FAB for sleeping but not fab for working or getting ready. It's pretty much impossible to put mascara on or applying straight eye liner. Also, the window is tiny and they make it so you really can't open the curtains easily and let natural ligt it. It's very weird.

Is the room completely un-sharing friendly? Yes.
What does this mean? If you need to share a room, make sure it's with your significant other that you are extremely comfortable with. When you enter the rooms the bathroom and shower are the first things in the hallway and they both have clear doors. Yes, that means if you are peeing and the person you are staying with walks in the door, they will witness you peeing. OR showering for that matter. There is a door that separate the bed from the rest of everything but that doesn't really do much when what you have to worry about is the main door.

Overall I loved the rooftop pool, the bed was comfortable and the pent house was sick... in a cheesy meets swanky way. Lots of gold.

So, if you want a different experience at a hotel than you are used to, check this place out.

Stayed here in September when pricing was super cheap. The rooms are small but it seems to be the theme on SoBe. The lighting is cool and chic, but occassionally can get annoying when theres no real source of light when it's not bright outside. Slightly awkward how the shower is just kind of in the front of the room and not really seperated, and the toilet is just on the otherside through clear glass, but there are doors that you can close that block the bed area from the bath area.

Rooftop pool was nice, smallish but relaxing and laid back. There's one restauraunt on the premise.

Staff was super super friendly and helpful. Champagne at check in, explained everything and offered services of anything we might need. We'd walk in the main lobby and the concierge would literally jump out of his chair and greet us and ask what he could do for us. Club Tickets? Dinner? Breakfast/Brunch spots? Pools/Beach questions. Super helpful and very friendly.

Location on 11th and Collins on the south/middle of the strip.

Would stay again

I yet again trusted the reviews here on yelp and didn't turn out to be what it is described here. Some yelp reviews can be dodgy - I know. But it was my first time in Miami and I was there for Art Basel. All the bigger hotels were booked up or had to reserve for 4 days minimum so I looked into some of the smaller boutique hotels.

First off the hotel screwed up my reservation for a 2 bed accomodation. When I got there I was informed that they sold my room because the credit card didn't work. I don't understand this excuse because the same credit card I used at the spot was working. If there was something wrong with it, they should have called or emailed to confirm this. But obviously they didn't. So anyway I was told that my initial reservation with 2 beds were all gone. So my friend had to crash at his friend's couch at another hotel. The manager never came out and apologized. I got the feeling that I should be thankful to get a room here during Art Basel. The rates weren't cheap. One day was over $500. (plus hotel resort tax, and some other tax, and some other tax etc etc)

The room was tiny and dark. DARK. The blue lighting you see in many of the photos is the main lighting source. It is like a Love Hotel in Shibuya. (small dingy and tacky) Bathroom (toilet) door was a broken glass transparent sliding door which didn't close up completely making feel vunerable. It's a tiny room, I wanted some privacy in the toilet but hey... I used the one in the lobby. Shower had no bathtub. Their prized amenity from Etro - shower gel, soap, shampoo and conditioner - they all were labeled "MUSK". I mean musk is more like for older guys? I really regretted not bringing my own amenities. Don't touch the overpriced inroom snacks and gummy bears. It is insane.

The rooftop pool everyone is raving about is quite small. It's a cute rooftop tho.

This may not be the normal review, as we had a rooftop suite - perhaps the coolest, sexiest, hippest room in SoBe.  Huge lounging area/living room, funky lighting, large bedroom and bathroom with an amazing shower and a separate soaking tub, and a second floor rooftop patio area with views of the area.  Super cool, super chill, and perfect for our use -- we invited five other couples to come and hang pre-club.  Ordered apps from room service, ice, and supplied our own champagne and vodka.  Everything was amazing -- including the (somewhat hard to use) sound system to which we plugged in our iPhone for killer jams.  The service was incredible, and the location is right in the heart of it all.  Other than a few minor complaints (hard to use lighting, hard to use stereo system, AC not cold enough) everything was epic.  Will absolutely be back -- in this same suite!

The South Beach Dream hotel is the definitive boutique hotel - you'll have a great stay if you go in with the proper expectations. The staff is cheerful, professional and courteous. The Naked Taco is one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood and price range. The facility is very clean and the decor plush and well kept. Two significant downsides - as romantic as the rooms may be, the lack of privacy between the bathroom area and bedroom certainly costs the property a few romance-points. Also - the tiny closet space makes the Dream a poor choice for anyone staying longer than a weekend, or attending a wedding where a variety of things need to be hung.

Why 4 stars? Because it was so polarizing.

  ---   ---   ---

When I first arrived, I thought, "Wow... absolutely 5-stars." But as time went on, I realized that practicality was sacrificed.

There were various buttons in the room that had hieroglyphics on them. Let's just call one of those buttons, "Button A." If you were to push Button 1 ten times, the following would happen:

1) The lights in the "bedroom" would dim
2) The lights in the shower would brighten
3) The fan in the shower would go off
4) The fan in the shower would go on
5) Nothing
6) Every single light in the room would shut off
7) The light in the shower would go on
8) Nothing
9) The purple back drop lights would come on
10) Whatever you were hoping would happen, would not.

I'm not sure what any of the symbols meant, nor did the results of 10 button pushes makes it any easier to figure out via process of elimination. The best part? There were like 12 of these buttons in the room.

Gripe #2 - the mini fridge would auto-lock, which led me to figure out that I would have to unplug it, and then plug it back in to simply open the door to grab my water.

Gripe #3 - make the shower's water pressure stronger. Please, for the love of God.

Now that the complaining is done... I'll commence with the good.

In one word, I would whitely describe this hotel as "baller." I love modern stylings, and this hotel is so modern, it's tomorrow. As others have noted, don't come to this hotel hoping to share with a platonic friend... but that is the only negative I see from the layout. But let's be honest, if you're going to a hotel with someone, most likely you aren't too shy around them when it comes to wearing your natural state.

The penthouse suite is even more baller than the standard room. It'd be Goldmember's favorite room in the world, because as you know, he loves gooooooolllllllddddd.

I'd stay here again, but I'd ask for a full tutorial from the staff on the various button-pushing in my room.

Overall, a descent hotel.  Would recommend to couples and close friends.

-Beautiful rooftop pool area with gorgeous views.
-Amazing staff
-Cool shower

-Not family-friendly at all (only one bed in each room; thus, designed for couples)
-Extremely small rooms, barely any room to lay out the luggage
-Confusing light controls (hard to figure out and the room never had sufficient lighting)
-Tiny bathrooms

Love love love this little hotel. I've stayed here twice and enjoyed it so much each time. If you want to be literally smack in the middle of the south beach action, you can't beat this location. Block from the beach, right behind the Versace mansion, extremely short walk to the popular bars and hang out spots on ocean drive. The rooms are sexy, cool and oh-so-miami. Unlike some other reviewers I loved the lighting in the rooms and found them easy to figure out with about one minute of investigating. Loved the little chandelier with the colored light. The showers are fantastic and the beds are super comfy. The rooftop pool is not large so it does get fairly crowded- but the bar there does great cocktails and makes for a great hangout spot, there are lots of lounging areas other than just the chairs right around the pool. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. I dined at Serafina on the ground floor during my first visit, about a year ago, everything was delicious. Didn't have a chance to make it back this time but would definitely recommend it. Really looking forward to coming back to this amazing spot!

Just visited Miami again and we decided to book with Dream again.
This time we paid a tad extra for a little bit more space. It's a larger room with a sofa. We were happy with it. The bathroom was pretty spacious, the bed is comfy.... can't complain.
The lights are so trendy and look so neat but wish they had more light in the bathrooms for applying makeup! It didn't ruin a good time though.

***COMPLAINT: ***** My only beef this time though was while checking out the girl at the front desk handed me the bill and I was being charged 3 times for using the phone for long distance! I told her there was absolutely no way and she looked it up and said the area code and of course it was the area code where we were from! I was ripping! I said why the heck would I used the room phone to make a long distance call when both of us have cell phones! She immediately took the charges off. I thought that was a bit suspicious!
Be aware of room charges in any hotel! Make sure you go over the entire bill!!! Now i'm even more wary.

And then there's things that can't be helped like "Big Foot" up above our room... I swear I felt there were times this person was going to bash through the ceiling of our room!
And  our room was behind an alley way and some car or truck was trying to get by and heard the man screaming and was honking his horn for about 15 minutes... I swear I felt I was in NYC... felt like a little bit of home visited down in Miami- Hahaha

Have to admit, not sure that this really classifies as a hotel. It feels more like a spaceship.....with tons of blue lights, sliding doors, glass, a mini bar that hasn't been touched since the inception of hotel....and tons of weird and useless pillows on the beds.

The penthouses and pool are rad. Rooftop access with tons of sunshine. Great place to hang out at night, too. The staff is great, the rooms are clean, turndown service seems to do each room on the hour, and the "bellhops" are super quick.

My biggest complaint is the noise. So much noise early in the morning. I'm a morning person, but the banging and rustling in the halls from the staff was a bit much. Also, the construction happening below on the 1st floor made for some inconvenient elevator problems. Not a huge deal, but the stairwells are also SUPER narrow. Should there be a fire, I'd be a bit worried about floods of people rushing to get out.

Not all are dea-lbreakers. Just some room for improvement.

We were looking for a hotel to stay at for one night that was really nice but at a reasonable price. We came across Dream South Beach's photos, we were totally drawn in. A lot of the hotels in that area are privately owned boutiques; Dream South Beach is connected to the Windham Hotel Group.

Upon arrival, there was a porch area with lounge chairs that looked soo relaxing! The front desk was small but there was always someone there 24 hours and very helpful and thorough with check-in and any questions we had. There was even a person who could help you get information about the area and tips, etc. very very nice! The hotel was also about a block or two away from Ocean Drive and the beach (which were soo nice)! With your reservation, it comes with the use of a beach towel and lounge chair at the beach which I thought was awesome and convenient.

Words cannot describe the decor. Absolutely beautiful and modern. The hallways are dark but each door has a blue light below so it looks really cool. When you enter the room it looks exactly like the pictures on the website. There's the blue lighting behind the bed that makes the room glow. Very romantic! The room was small but it was enough. I really loved the modern design of everything there!

Unfortunately we were did not have time to check out their rooftop pool bar. I would definitely come back to this hotel again.

I have stayed here and was completely annoyed by the weird lighting.  Went back this past trip (May 2014) to check out the NAKED TACO and Roofdeck POOL, both were unimpressive.  The pool is cramped, guests areas are on top of each other and it was a scorcher day with no breeze.

Redeeming qualities, the front desk service and wait staff are friendly and accommodating. We were not guests and were able to check our bags to check out the pool.

This hotel has some good sides, but it has its flaws as well. On the positive side, the rooms are nice, tidy and stylish. The front desk staff are very helpful and friendly, and the rooftop terrace is a very nice place to spend time with good service. What we didn't like was that the sound isolation was poor, we could hear everything that was going on in the corridor outside the room, and also what the neighbours next door and above us was doing. Squeaky beds in a hotel with poor noise isolation isn't always a good experience... The restaurant Naked Taco was OK, but when we sat down just to have a drink we were asked to leave or to go inside. Not good, being paying guests at the hotel. So, there's room for improvements here, of which some should be pretty easy to achieve. Two stars is too little for this place, even though three stars seems to be a little too much... After all, we had a good time here, so three stars is the closest option.

Located on 1111 Collins Avenue (or 15 in decimal as seeing that many ones has me thinking of binary), the Dream South Beach served as our centrally located home base for a recent trip.

The location is ideal, a quick walk to the beach,a longer but still fairly quick walk to Lincoln Road, Espanola Way and of course Ocean Drive. In the immediate area is a fair share of convenient stores for late night snacks, water and sunburn treatment gels. (Not that my ghastly white skin would ever burn...)

Of course, the location also translates into plenty of pedestrian traffic which can translate into late night noise and me not sleeping that well. The more liquor consumed the more people will yell at the top of their lungs or so I heard from our third floor room facing Collins Avenue. Cars like to blast music at decibel levels that could easily lead to tinnitus and other folks just feel like singing at all hours of the night.

Yes, all par for the course as this is South Beach, after all but light sleepers be aware of the general noise levels of this area. (And of the hotels' 4th floor rooftop lounge that can also be a source of noise.)

Double-edged sword and all aside, the room was sleek, neon lit and smartly designed. In fact, the design was almost too smart for us to operate, especially the light switches. There's a set of icons that seemed clear enough to comprehend but we still wound up pushing each button multiple times for basic operations, like shutting off.

Others have commented about the bathroom situation and I'll only note that see-through doors and toilet bowls make for some interesting visuals...

The elevator was slow enough that we eventually gave up and took the stairs, a welcome bit of exercise. One plus is that the elevator is spacious enough for plenty of people to pile into, assuming they haven't fled to the stairs either.

As guests of the Dream, you'll be eligible for beach towels and chairs provided by the Boucher Brothers. Look for a small yellow and white hut on the beach that says "Luxury Hotels". For approximately $8.95 a day, you can claim the beach equipment and in-room wifi.

The staff was friendly, if a bit poor in communicating one particular detail, mainly that upon check-in, the front desk clerk waived our $8.95 fee but failed to document it for future reference.

So a clean room, comfortable bed and location make up for the minor flaws I've listed, bumping the ranking to 3 stars. That and the deal we had through an online travel site which reduced the price significantly, so much so that I was counting dollars saved while trying to fall asleep instead of sheep.

I stayed here with my girlfriend for a week in July.  We loved everything about it.   The staff, rooftop pool and location are all great.  The beach (they set you up with free beach chairs if your staying at the hotel), shopping, convenience stores, and any type of restaurants are all within walking distance so you could easily go a week without having to get in a cab.  Naked Taco, which you can order poolside, was one of our favorite parts of the stay.

It didn't bother us at all but the hotel rooms are a little unusual and the bathrooms don't offer much privacy.

Stayed here in February which is prime time for hotels to charge whatever they want for a room. This weekend happened to be boat show weekend, so prices were a little steep for what we got. That said, in the off season I would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect, one block off the beach, right behind Versace mansion. Because location is in the heart of everything, it's a tad bit noisy on a weekend night, but that'll be the case if you stay in ANY south beach boutique hotel. They were all built in the 60s!

The room itself is lovely. It's super modern. Sleek green walls, up lighting, rainfall shower, glass enclosed shower and water closet, laser cut headboard and doors. Turndown service and reasonably priced minibar goodies. It's got the feel of being inside a genie bottle and I love it.

Don't forget there's a pool upstairs and pretty nice restaurant, bar and spa on premise, though we didn't use any of those. They do have elevators, which a lot of these hotels don't so that another plus. Great stay!

Let me preface this review with we didn't stay here but we used the spa and spent the day up on the rooftop pool after our massages. Wow, this hotel is really cool. We checked out the rooms while visiting the spa and cruised around the hotel. Very swank and sexy.

I actually booked this hotel originally, but then found our they have totally glass bathrooms and the toilet area has no privacy. Not my thing so I booked elsewhere. When I mentioned this to the woman at the spa, she laughed and said it was a problem for some people but apparently they have rooms where the toilet area is at least frosted. So, maybe we will stay here next time.

The whole spa experience was unbelievably romantic, soothing and special. From the roof you can look down on the beach and the Versace mansion. Definitely a local to check out.

We'll be back!

Know before you go...
- Some of the bathrooms lack any privacy and you'll need to call and find out what's available unless you don't mind someone watching you while you poop

Received very nice service from the get go.
You can tell they really care about customer service. This hotel has so many great details in their interior designing.
If you are into very Art Deco, vey detailed decoration you will really like this place.
Pizza places deliver :-)

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel back in August 2012. I enjoyed my stay here at the hotel, but I would say this is a couples only hotel. Reason being, the shower is see through and so is the bathroom and the lighting is intimate. If you do not feel comfortable with the person you are with, this may not be the hotel for you.

Wow! There are no words to describe this hotel! From the moment you enter the glamorous lobby you are treated to a glass of champagne as the staff promptly and efficiently checks you in without any frustration. The hotel is well appointed and tastefully decorated. The minor attention to detail really makes you feel like you are in morroco.

The rooms are cozy and glamorous. The perfect size seeing as how you'll most likely be on the stellar rooftop for a majority of your stay. They have added frosting to the bathrooms for extra privacy.

There are no words to describe the rooftop. The scenery is breathtaking and because the pool is situated on the rooftop you are pretty much guaranteed sun up until about 6 or 7 pm. Some of the other hotels with a beach pool get shady at around 3 pm.

Included in your stay is wifi and beach chairs at the beach. This is a nice added luxury to make your stay even more stress free!

The staff also assisted us with any inquiries about the Area! I would recommend asking them for restaurants reccos.   They can even assist in hailing a cab!

All in all this hotel has it all. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway with the option to be in the action of it all, this is your spot!

Dream is truly a high end boutique hotel!

Ludovic was always there when I needed him. Great service!! I was never told no, they opened the doors for us 24 hours and were so polite and respectful about everything. The hotel manager hired the perfect staff.

Was just in south beach for 5 days stayed at the Dream ,had an awesome time and a great experience at the Dream hotel , the cleaning staff is ON POINT...We left for the beach and upon returning room was spotless! And we got sand on the floor from our bathing suits they clean good! I didn't give them 5 stars for a couple of minor reasons, elevator broke down during our stay , I felt the pool lounge cushions were a little dingy looking although the pool man does a great job up there.  Pool is only 3 feet deep , no big deal it does the job and the view on the roof top is lovely. Also they bring u a complimentary bottle of water in the afternoon and some ice ... But where is the ice machine? I never found it ...and they charged me for 1 bottle of water I never took from the mini bar ....mini bar is MAD expensive. Best thing about this hotel is the LOCATION ! Best part of south beach !

Oh great we booked a room here for June.  I like putting on some make up and making sure I get to see how I look before I head on out for night time - is there any bright lighting in the bathroom at least???  Full mirror??? Wth is this they should let the guests decide how bright or how low they want their rooms lighting be?  Hello anyone at the Dream please tell me what to expect??

This hotel was very romantic. I say that because the room had very dim mood lightning with lots of intimate touches. For example, clear shower in the middle of the room. I agree with other guests that it is nearly impossible to navigate the lighting, but I still liked it. The hotel had a cute roof top pool and bar area. When we walked to the beach and gave our name we had two free chairs and towels. Very convenient and only a block away. The room had a mini bar and I loved that the bed was firm. Over all I would definitely come here again with my boyfriend.

I love this place, a lot! Have stayed here for the past 5 days and we have one more night to go. The service here is amazing. Price per night is reasonable but the mini bar price is outrageous (guess it's the same with any other hotel). It is one block away from the beach located just north of the famous Versace mansion (which is now a hotel/restaurant).

The staff here provides an amazing service. The first night we arrived, they accommodated us without any issues or questions. We had many other requests and they exceeded expectations every single time.

Being new in the city, we sat down with their concierge service and we were wowed again. Not only did the gentleman provide amazing information but he actually took the time to put everything on paper and had it ready for us when we got back to the hotel the same evening. He found out information on Miami Heat tickets and various excursions. Awesome!

Well deserved 5 stars but only my only recommendation to the hotel is that they provide more lights (or brighter lights) in their rooms. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel and I would for sure stay here again on our next visit to South Beach!

Not sure if it was a bad week for the dream or it's like this every week. For starters we were switching hotels from downtown to Miami beach so we had to check out at 12 and we called to ask if they could hold our bags, at first we were told no. I called a few hours later and they said they would hold them til we were able to check in( not sure why they couldn't in the first place?) we get into our room and all the lights are buttons all the wall, kind of cool, never have seen that before, and they they started turning on and off and on and off. We contacted the front desk and they sent an engineer to the room. He basically told us to "move around" and their is a motion sensor in the thermostat..... Yes move around. Not the answer I was looking for but ok.

They were testing the fire alarms all afternoon throughout our stay there, for hours at a time. The pictures do absolutely no justice in the reviews. It's like a compact mini house they use every square inch to fit everything in. You open the hotel and your basically standing in the bathroom/ shower..... Which is approximately 2 steps away from the bed. We had suitcases because we were in miami for 10 days. They took up basically the whole room.

The positives for my stay are that the naked taco is next door, and the location is a block off the beach.

This hotel is amazing. The location is perfect for anything South Beach has to offer. The beach, Versace Mansion, The Clevelander, multiple sidewalk cafes, pizza places, and nightclubs on Washington Ave are all just a block or two away. There is really no need to drive anywhere once you're checked in. There is so much to see and do that's in a very short walking distance.

The hotel staff is very courteous and helpful. They made our stay very pleasant. Everyone from the front desk to the valets really made an effort to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are small, but intimate. This isn't a town where you spend a lot of time in your room anyway so it doesn't really matter. The special blue lighting that comes in each room is really cool and creates and very sexy atmosphere.

The hotel restaurant is very good and the rooftop pool and bar (Highbar) makes this hotel a South Beach hot spot of its own during the day and at night.

I am quite the hotel snob (just ask my wife) and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. It's an excellent hotel and I would definitely stay here again for our next trip to South Beach.
