History

Established in 1940.

Originally erected in 1941, the Gale South & Regent Hotel were two trendsetting properties located on an up-and-coming escape haven of Miami known as South Beach. Both the Gale and the Regent of the '40s shared similarities in architecture and design, and it wasn't until 1964 that the sister properties were permanently linked by bridge.The renowned Miami hospitality group Menin Hotels created a plan to resurrect the joint-hotel, accompanied by a sense of renewal and glory.     OMG I can't believe I paid money to stay here!!!  We arrived on a Saturday and travelled most of the day so we were exhausted.  All we wanted to do was sleep.  That was not a possibility though thanks to the club and the paper thin walls.  You can hear every little noise in this hotel and the club music literally sounded like it was coming from my pillow.  It went until 5AM.  It really is a shame because they have a nice atmosphere and the roof pool is beautiful.  I wouldn't ever stay here again and furthermore would suggest you do the same.  It was so bad that I felt I had to write a review and I never write reviews.

    Our stay at Gale was good.  Friendly and helpful staff.  The only thing that I'd like to bring up were our rooms.  We had booked 2 rooms w/ 2 queen size beds per room.  There was a mix-up and we ended up with 4 rooms w/ one bed per room, 2 next to each other on the first floor and the other two on another floor down the hall from each other.  This didn't bother us much and we just went with it.  The rooms that were located on the first floor were and the end of the hall next to the lounge/bar/speakeasy.  I thought that the music and piano were bit loud and we could hear people's conversations.  Luckily I was pretty tipsy whenever I went to bed so the noise just lulled me to sleep. Hahah!  BUT my roomie for the weekend actually wasn't so tipsy our last night in Miami and she had to ask the front desk for some earplugs.  Perhaps they should add another wall as a sound barrier??  Not sure what you can really do.  But just a warning to those planning to stay at the Gale, make sure to get a room away from the lounge.

    I stayed at the gale for three nights and I am quite pleased.  We arrived early for check in, but the room was not ready yet, so we bummed around the pool.  The pool is really simple and cute.  It is at the roof top, perfect for tanning.  When we finally got our room, we knew what to expect already.  The room was small, but very trendy and nicely decorated.  There are vey little lighting and the bathroom is all glass, pretty much out in the open.
    The service at the gale was pretty decent.  The bell guys were very courteous and helpful.  The receptionists were alright, nothing special about them.  The concierge looked like he was sleeping all the time, don't bother asking him anything because he wouldn't know.  We were better off finding out things on our own.
    One thing that was very annoying during the stay was that we kept on getting phone calls from the receptionist or something telling us to quite down and lower our music, when we didn't even have any music on at all! It's not the gales fault, guests from the other rooms were probably complaining, but were complaining about the wrong room! The gale threatened us that if we do not lower down the music, the security will have to come up.  They never did, eve. Though we really wanted them to, so that we can shut them up.
    Overall, it was a nice stay. Great location and cute hotel.

    Kudos to the charming gentleman who checked us in, he went out of his way to be sure we got a better room. Food was tasty in the bar. At 7:00 A.M, without a coffee maker in the room, I called the desk requesting coffee, either via room service which doesn't exist or downstairs. I was told that there would be no coffee made until 7:30. I found that odd in a hotel charging five star prices. I asked if they could start the coffee or make an espresso and was told no, I could walk 10 mins to starbucks, but the young woman at the front deak was kind enough to warn that  it was raining and only 60 degrees! When paying top dollar for a what is already a tiny room, one expects a certain degree of accommmodation, coffee is not difficult to make, after all. Instead, I was sassed by the woman answering the phone at 7:00 on the morning of feb 15th.

    Great remodeled, clean hotel. Small rooms but not a big deal. Restaurant waaaay over priced. Not worth it. Eat out! Rooftop pool is awesome. Free pass to the Shelbourne across the street for beach access. We also snuck in to the pool over there which is awesome. For the price of $149 and location, I want to give it 4 stars but because I feel like I was butt raped after getting the restaurant bill I give them a 3.

    As you can probably tell by my two star review, I don't recommend that you choose to stay at the Gale South Beach. The trendy decor is nice, and the hotel was very clean, but location could have been better for the price and the service was terrible. That's it in a nutshell, but read on for specifics if you care.

    The smoky scent of the hotel is too strong and rather off-putting. It permeates your clothes and you can smell it when you're trying to shower it off. I'm not totally sure what they're going for, but I recommend they consider a change.

    When I stay in a hotel, I like a king size bed. I'm willing to pay a little more for it. This hotel doesn't allow you to choose when deciding upon your room. You are either given a king or queen when you arrive. I knew a lot of people who checked into the hotel over the weekend, and none had received a king.

    If you like privacy when you're in the bathroom, go elsewhere. There is a window into the bathroom.

    There's a $25 daily resort fee, which gets you wi-fi, access to the Shelborne Hotel's pool, 2 beach chairs and an umbrella on the beach, and $15 worth of food/beverage in the hotel. Sounds great, but the Shelborne is a block away. I know that probably doesn't sound too bad, but you're paying the same price as beachfront hotels, but have to walk 5-10 minutes down the hot street to get there. On Saturday at 11:30, my wife and I were turned away from the Shelborne pool because they were having a pool party with DJ. The hotel employee at the entrance said they were not honoring their access for Gale guests. We complained a little and he said he'd turn the other way while we walked in. I was okay with that until I realized I couldn't leave because I wouldn't get back in. So we decided to hit the beach. You have to sign in at the beach hut for the chair and umbrellas. We asked for towels and he said we had to get them at the pool. So I trekked back across the hot sand about 100 yards or so for towels. Every employee in the pool area told me to check a different place (including the beach hut) until someone just told me they were out of towels. I watched jealously as guests of the neighboring hotel we're not only receiving their towels at the beach hut, but their friendly beach attendant walked them to their choice of chairs and made sure they were comfortable.  Our beach attendant even had an ATV, so you'd think he could have made a quick trip back to the hotel for some towels... I guess that kind of service can only be found at other hotels.

    We decided to use our resort credit for drinks at the bar that night. I ordered a Mojito and virgin cranberry and ginger ale. The bartender managed to tell me it would be $25 with a straight face. I asked him to charge my room and he said that he couldn't. I double checked with him on it and he assured me it's not possible. So I paid with my credit card and went the front desk to seek clarification on the $15 from my resort credit. They assured me I could charge the room and made me point out the bartender on the computer surveillance screen. The front desk attendant then started to bring me to the bartender to confront him about his mistake, but thankfully decided to speak with a manager instead. I wasn't allowed to see this manager as she went downstairs to seek his advice. All I wanted was the $15 deducted from my room. I showed them the receipt, but they said that wasn't possible. So she told me the best she could do was a free drink coupon. I really didn't want another drink there, but accepted because I 'd already spent a half hour of my time on the issue. The whole situation was poorly handled and awkward for me as a guest.

    A week or so after returning home I found a mysterious charge on my credit card from the Gale for $21.89. I called to see what it was and they told me it was something called a Love Box that was reportedly missing from my room. They have all kinds of junk for purchase right in the room. I told them I hadn't taken anything. The supervisor told me to call back later in the day to give them a chance to check inventory. I did as they asked and was then told to call again the next morning after 9:00. Frustrated I called the executive offices and left a voicemail with someone named Oscar. He never returned my call. I tried again the next day and was forced to leave a message for the supervisor to call me back. He never did. I finally tried to call their parent company, Menin Hotels, and was directed to the supervisor at the Gale I needed to speak with. At that time he agreed to remove the charge. This was soooooo poorly handled I couldn't believe it. After spending well over $500 in less than 2 days, they made me jump through hoops for $22 for something I didn't use.

    Long story short, there are so many hotels in South Beach that I simply recommend you try something else. This one isn't worth the money.

    Excellent botique hotel. Very modern decor and cosy places to drink. The management and staff went out of their way with their service and ability to deal with the minor issues we had, which is really what you pay for. If you can afford it, get the "tripadvisor" rate for the terrazo room or grande. The balconies are very nice, spacious and private, which makes the hotel worth it.
    The pool is heated as well, which is a huge bonus for me. Can see a part of the beach from the rooftop, and use the amenities across the street at shelbourne.

    The home made buffalo mozarrela pizza at the restaurant is amazing. The coffee at the front bar can't be beat.

    The hotel does get a bit loud at night, so keep this in mind. They are in the process of adding more sound insulation, so that should help. In reality, probably closer to a 4.5 star. I would not stay on the first or second floors for this reason.

    Checkin is 4, so keep this in mind. You will be across the street from the beach, down a few block from Lincoln ave and espanola way. Cab ride here is about $70 from FLL, and worth it if you have more than one person. The Go Shuttle is $21.

    An amazing room with private patio!  Love it!  Great check in, concierge, bellman and room service. All staff are smiling and helpful. When valet parking seemed challenging because of a tow truck the guy came into street to take our car and resolve the problem. Beautiful facility and great location.  Will stay again!

    Love the remodeling this hotel has undergone. The hotel is beautiful, modern, and trendy. The location is in the heart of south beach but, it's not a beach front property. The beach is just across the street. The Gale does offer a fab roof top pool.
    I stayed here for New Year's Eve and enjoyed every minute of my stay.
    So here's the reason I didn't rate it more stars. Price. Granted I stayed during a hectic day but $600/night is extremely expensive. Plus the front desk agent warned us that there was no room service available. Not a good thing especially when I'm paying half a months rent. Secondly, when my bf and I were entering the room for the first time we found a maintenance personnel asleep in our bed. We just laughed it off but seriously, what's up with that? Overall, my experience was a pleasant one. If they offer more affordable rooms, I will definitely return.
    Ps not sure if they have parking available. I don't recall seeing any.

    We were relocated by hotels.com to this hotel as the one that we had booked was full!! So we didn't really choose this hotel 2 months before but we trusted the instant reviews of tripadvisor: totally misleading. The below are the details of a few of our encounters at the hotel:
    We asked for two sets of knives and forks, we got one, we asked again for another set and it was never delivered. We asked to have our own wine in the terrace of the bar, we were told that the management does not agree with that! You have to buy our [overpriced] drinks. When we complained to the front desk we were told that the restaurant management is separate and that the hotel management had no control over that!!! The beach club was so far away (5 Miami blocks), the umbrellas were for $10 (could have been complementary) and the towels gave all the lint that there was in the world to your swim suit. The hotel was all about selling you overpriced stuff instead of focusing on providing you the excellent service that had already been paid for! The separate management of the restaurant and bar seems to play an important role in this huge defect. The bar of the hotel had live music which could clearly be heard in our room (we are talking midnight and 1 am) although the Miami Dade county law says no excessive noise after 11 pm. The first night we couldn't even move cause there were no other rooms as we were told. The front desk told us that they will call the bar-- nothing happened! (Apparently the bar doesn't take orders from the hotel, as discussed above). On our last night we had to move to another room at midnight; the other room was great, but packing and moving at midnight not so much!
    Our overall experience was really bad, but I can see how it would be possible to have a good experience at this hotel.

    Stayed at the Gale a few weeks ago, and really loved our stay there.  That being said:

    - we were overcharged at the bar (actually given someone else's larger bill and told that it was "basically the same as ours" when we asked the bartender.  it was not at all the same.)
    - we were overcharged at checkout (entire restaurant bills had been charged to our account and needed to be removed)
    - we continue to be overcharged after checking out.  Multiple unexplained charges have shown up on my credit card statement, so far I have received no response regarding these issues from the hotel.

    It's a beautiful hotel in a great location, but DOUBLE CHECK ALL OF YOUR BILLS if you decide to stay there.

    Location was nice. Room was new and well appointed.The room location left plenty to be desired. Complete lack of customer service. I was there on business. The room was in the interior of the hotel and I had no cell phone signal. I need to use my cell phone for my business. The staff was not helpful. They made plenty of excuses but did not correct my issue or even offer anything to compensate. The company needs help in the area of customer service and satisfaction.

    This is a review for the parking.  Waited over an hour for the valet parking.  They didn't even know which lot they parked our car in and the manager refused to speak to us and they scratched our car.  Then we found out they charged different amounts to different people.  Some paid $40.  Others paid $30 and still others paid only $20.

    Do yourself a favor and stay at another hotel... My wife and I were at this hotel for 25 minutes before cancelling our reservation and moving to the Mondrian!

    Where to start... room was not ready when we arrived so we went to the restaurant for a late lunch.  Calzone had no flavor however the pasta was good.  I ordered a blood mary however the waiter returned to tell me that the bar was out of tomato juice and they didn't have time to go to the roof bar to get more! As I sat with my computer using what they advertise as "High Speed Internet", I was having problems getting websites to load because the "Free" internet they offer is so rediculously slow.  Want faster internet, no problem, pay an extra $10/day and you can have normal speed internet that actually works.  

    After returning to the front desk, we were lead to our room on the second floor.  That's when things turned for the worse.  The room was tiny, barely big enough for a bed.  Unfortunately, I was here to both play and work.  THERE WAS NO DESK OR TABLE IN THE ROOM!  I called the front desk and they explained that for $150 more, they could move me to a room with a desk.  I have stayed at a lot of hotels but never had this issue before.  I tried to be understanding and asked if room service could bring a table for me to place my computer on...the answer was NO.  As i began working while sitting on my bed, I then searched for a remote to turn down the TV which was left on at full blast... I was amazed to find out that there was no remote and the TV had no physical buttons to turn it off, so I did what I could and pulled out the power cord!  Great right? NO... within 5 minutes full blown construction could be heard and felt under our feet.  Hammering, screwing, drilling and more hammering.  

    I called the front desk again and explained the issues, to which they could care less.  We cancelled our room and left for the Mondrian, which was an amazing hotel with fantastic service.  Don't go though what we did, save the headache and book elsewhere!!

    Stayed at this hotel last weekend for three nights.  Over all the hotel is very nice however our room was over the entrance to the basement night club.  The base was pretty bad until about 4am when the club closed.  Loved the roof top pool and spent most of my time there.  The pool desk could have used more umbrellas to provide shade.  The food at the hotel restaurant was very good, didn't have any complaints there.  The rooms are small with no couch or desk so this hotel is better suited for those who are on vacation and not business.  This hotel is NOT good if you have KIDS.

    This review is for the restaurant outside. The service was horrible. We received wrong order 3 times. I finally got my food and I was waiting for my husbands food so we can eat together for 20min.. By then my food was cold. We complained to manager and got everything for free, to which we got up and left. Not getting a cold omelet.

    The Gale is a beautiful little hotel. Super hi-end interior. Wood floors throughout, huge flat screens in the rooms, etc., etc., all very mod...  Great, uncrowded roof top pool (pretty much unlike any other pool in South Beach which are crazzzzy).
    The staff all seemed nice, no complaints there. Overall, I was super happy with the aesthetics of the hotel until it came time to sleep....
    .....HUGE PROBLEM...
    don't expect to get any AT ALL on Thurs/Fri or Sat. nights. There's a nightclub in the basement of the hotel and it permeates the walls and ceilings. I was on the 3rd floor. Anything above the 4th you MAY be OK. The booming of the bass was NON STOP from 11pm to 5am. BEWARE. If you're there to party your entire stay, great, otherwise, plan on going to bed at around 5am, when the club closes to get any quiet.
    The Gale Hotel needs to SERIOUSLY look in to this. I read one other review that mentions it but didn't go thru them all.
    ADVICE. BRING WAX EAR PLUGS.

    Stayed here for a few nights during the holidays and was very pleased with everything.Equal to or better than many of the top rated hotels in the area without the pretentiousness.Staff was exceptional.My only complaint is the wind-noise emanating from the elevator shaft.

    My fiance and I just returned from an amazing weekend getaway at The Gale for my birthday.  The hotel was recommended to us by some friends that had stayed here a few months prior and it did not disappoint.  I booked directly through the hotel (I would recommend doing this as the prices are the same as booking through a third party, but you can get some great deals through The Gale) and there was a promotion going on if I tweeted a link they provided me about booking at the hotel, they would give us a complimentary upgrade on our room.  I'm so glad I did it because we were upgraded to an amazing room (315) with a king size bed and our own private terrace, which was awesome.  The fabulous concierge at the hotel, Gili left a hand written note wishing me a happy birthday and an enjoyable stay along with a beach bag and some goodies to include a bottle of prosseco.  It was such a wonderful touch and nice surprise!

    The room was spacious, extremely clean and the bed was so comfortable with really nice linens.  The shower is huge with a rainfall shower head and an additional hand held shower head as well.  The rooftop terrace was really nice with comfortable outdoor furniture and we enjoyed our prosseco out there before dinner as well as our morning coffee.  

    The rooftop pool was really nice and the loungers were very comfortable.  The pool bar was nice as well and they served delicious drinks.  The beach is right across the street and you receive 2 beach loungers with your stay, but you do have to pay an additional $15 for an umbrella.  We were glad to have the umbrella though!

    The restaurant in the hotel, Dolce was awesome and the staff was so nice.  We had dinner and breakfast there.  Definitely worth it to check it out!

    The staff at The Gale was by far the friendliest and most helpful staff that I have ever come across.  I had a text message from Gili waiting for me once I arrived in Miami asking when they should expect us at the hotel.  We were able to change and use the pool while our room was being set up as we arrived on Friday morning and we were sent a text message once the room was ready.  The staff checked in via text message regularly.  I even sent a text to the front desk asking for some advice/help with a jelly fish sting and everyone was so helpful!  I really can't say enough positive things about the staff and the hotel overall.  I have been raving about it while we were there and haven't stopped since!  The staff at The Gale really made our trip extra special.

    I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in South Beach.  The location is great and within walking distance to Lincoln Road and Espanola Way.  I can't wait for my next stay at The Gale!

    I spent 5 nights at the Gale Hotel and bravo to the team. Hotel staff was super helpful especially their concierge. They were super helpful in printing out documents and faxing the signed copies.

    The location was prime. The hotel bar was amazing. The mixoligist really had a passion and it showed in the way they prepared drinks.

    Brand new boutique hotel that me and two buddies found for a guys weekend in South Beach.  Located on 17th and Collins right across the street from SLS and a block from Lincoln Road, it's well located for whatever you're looking to get into.

    Big fan of the decor.  It's as if someone holding a magic "Restoration Hardware: 1950's Era" wand waved it around the entire place.  Vintage photos and rich dark woods create a sophisticated yet approachable environment.

    Rooms are cozy, not cramped.  Beds are so comfortable you'll oversleep and skip your morning beach run.  Sleek 50 inch flat screen neatly mounted on the wall.

    You can tell The Gale emphasizes service with its staff.  Everyone we encountered (bartenders, wait staff, front desk staff) were personable and engaging.

    For example, their computer reservation system was experiencing some hiccups that caused us trouble when trying to check in.  These things happen and can be frustrating as a guest, but it's how the staff handles it that determines whether the experience ends on a high note or not.  Francisco, the front desk manager, responded by taking care of my friends and I with a complimentary room upgrade and free drink tickets for our inconvenience.  Issue resolved to all of our satisfaction.

    Nice rooftop pool, where there looked to be about 60-70 seats.  While we were there, it was a place to lounge, relax, perhaps grab a cocktail or two.  Mostly couples and a handful of small groups of friends. Chill atmosphere...no crazy party scene.

    As for other "on-campus" activities, there's also a bigger-than-you'd-expect rooftop bar, an Italian restaurant, and a nighttime lounge in the basement of the hotel.

    Although its still working out some of the kinks from being so young, The Gale has a lot of promise.  Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for an upscale yet unpretentious boutique hotel experience in South Beach.

    Well I have a slightly conflicted opinion about the Gale. Overall, though, I'm happy with my stay there and would return, though perhaps making sure to request a room with some natural sunlight.

    Pros:
    - Location can't be beat.
    - Rates are reasonable given the quality and location of the hotel.
    - The room was very comfortable and well-appointed.

    Cons:
    - My friend had a big ordeal trying to check in. I'd added her name to the reservation the day before, but she wasn't allowed to check in for over an hour, and I wasn't arriving until later that night. I was a bit surprised to learn that they hadn't offered a room upgrade or some drink vouchers or something to make up for their mistake.
    - The lobby smells like a giant glass of scotch. It's seriously peaty in there.
    - The bathroom was...well, it was set up for couples, not a pair of friends. The shower was on full display, so we kind of gave up on modesty after the first day and just embraced it. It's South Beach, though, so whatever.

    I would probably stay at the Gale again, though I'd definitely check other places first.

    The Gale. Recently re-opened. But not finished. Where to start...

    Free glass of champage at check in...but rookie front desk clerks.
    Huge flatscreen...but a tiny little "closet."

    And this is what compelled me write this review:

    The tap water in the rooms is hot.

    Yes, you read that right. This is a brand-new, remodeled, boutique South Beach hotel and the "cold" tap water in the rooms ranges from lukewarm to plain old hot.

    According to the sheepish maintenance guy its like that in ALL the rooms. After trying to convince me (or maybe it was himself) that hot water out of both taps is pretty much normal, the poor guy gave up and offered to bring me a bucket of ice. Best he could do.

    For crissakes I can get a glass of reasonably cold water from the tap in a damn Motel 6. Who the hell designed this place?

    The TV remote is crap as well but that seems like a silly thing to bitch about when you can't get a plain old regular cup of tap water that isn't over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. I shudder to think what they are charging for a bottle of cold water from the mini-bar. Let me take a look. Only $4. Sold.

    In all fairness the place looks really nice. Roof top pool. Lots of bars but then the restaurant closes at 11pm - along with room service.

    Bottom line - they went for high tech doodads like obnoxiously huge flatscreens and swipe cards for room doors, but forgot some very basic things like cold water and late-night food.

    We stayed at Gale South Beach for two amazing nights and will be coming back for sure.  The place is immaculate, well-appointed and stunning deco decor.  The staff was attentive, helpful and the price was just right.  This is a gem of a property in the heart of South Beach and was much more affordable than it's competitors.  You simply must visit the roofdeck pool.  It boasts an amazing view, great food and drink service and a relaxed environment in the heart of Collins Ave.

    Worst NYE party ever.  Ever.  Ticket included food and open bar.  Doors opened at 10 pm.  They were out of food by 10:30.  It took at least 20 minutes to get a drink at the bar.  When we did get drinks, they were disgusting.  they gave tonic when club soda was ordered; Perrier in place of club soda; Absolut vodka, even though they had bottles and bottles of Belvedere behind them.  We ended up going downstairs to the restaurant to get food during the party.  It was so windy up on the roof where the party took place and they didn't even put up wind screens.  It was miserable!!  The advertisement touted: "firework display"- if you consider an obstructed view of fireworks from South Point Park... Hmm. Thanks for taking our money and giving us next to nothing.

    My girlfriend and I recently spent one night at this lovely boutique hotel. I was able to get a deal on Expedia so I don't have any real complaints.
    The hotel staff was personable and very responsive. The rooms are large well appointed and very clean,  The lighting is a challenge particularly for women needing to apply makeup.  I read other reviews and can understand some of the complaints.
    The closets are very tiny! I would have been really upset had I needed to be there several days. you can't hang a dress in the closet honestly! Valet parking is off premise and it does take a little while for them to respond, so you need to factor this when asking for your vehicle. Our room was freezing cold and we could not get it to warm up. We finally call maintenance and he came right away. He had to turn on the heat to get the room to a reasonable temperature.... Interesting... but it worked, so we were okay.
    I would stay at the Gale again, but I would compare the immenities at other hotels. If there is a big price spread I would stay at the Gale, if not I would choose selectively to offset some of the issues I mentioned above.

    super cute boutique hotel! modern, clean, awesome staff, and free champagne on thursdays and fridays!

    a few tips:

    1 - if you want a king size bed, ask for an upgraded room.
    2 - they hotel charges a resort fee of $25 per day. that includes beach towels, chairs, and $15 to the restaurant and/or bar. HOWEVER: after taxes and fees a $12 drink is about $19. ridic!
    3 - valet parking is the only option. i believe $35 per day

    all in all it was a great hotel with a pleasant staff. i'm not giving five (5) stars only because of the $$$ issue. other than that, definitely a great experience and i'd stay again. oh yeah, GREAT location. close, but not too close.

    Awesome room. 55 inch TV's and you can control everything from the TV itself. If you rent a movie, you can download it on the iPad and take it to the pool or wherever you go, AWESOME. The bars/clubs/restaurants in this hotel are awesome and you don't even really have to leave the hotel.

    The decor is awesome and unlike any hotel in South Beach. I felt like I was in NYC. The rooms were big for South Beach standards and the beds are one of a kind. They are certified something or other (don't remember what) but they cost almost $2,000 each! They didn't skimp out on any detail in the entire hotel.

    Ps - You better know who you are staying with in your room pretty well or there will be a very awkward introduction as the showers are all glass! Enjoy.

    Nice boutique hotel but they need to work on customer service! We stayed in two rooms and paid two resort fees so were allowed $15 per room credit for food and drink, but when we checked out they couldn't give us both credits because we had charged the food to one room each time and didn't split between two rooms. Would have been nice to know that when we checked in! So now the front desk guy needs to talk to his manager and get back to us. Based in all if the reviews here, I'm not holding my breath and will be calling back!

    Annoying! Did I mention the rooms are noisy and the pool closes really early? Don't get me started!

    No call yet...there goes another star...

    I finally called back after a few days of not hearing from management. The manager I spoke to promises to credit back resort fees and internet usage fees. Unfortunately when I checked my crest card statement I was only given a fraction of what was promised.

    There goes another star!

    Steer clear of this hotel!

    This is a long and detailed description of a very, very bad experience at this hotel. Let me start by saying that if you're traveling as a couple, then this place may be just fine. You'll probably have what you need and won't need to deal with the horrible customer service.

    However, this is our story...

    Two of my girlfriends and I booked the Signature Terrazo room for two nights at the Gale South Beach. We were told upon booking that a rollaway bed would be available in our room. Upon arrival they said they had "run out of rollaways beds and only had air mattresses," but that they "upgraded our room" to make up for this.

    We got to the room - nope, this was the same room we booked. Not sure what 'upgrade' she was talking about. The air mattress arrived, and the man who dropped it off said, "this thing doesn't really stay full... you probably need to pump it again in the middle of the night." SERIOUSLY? It was almost midnight (we checked in after attending a concert), so at that point there was nothing we could do but make the best of the situation.

    My friend took one for the team and volunteered to sleep on the air mattress, because it seemed fine right after pumping it. The next morning she told us it was flat within an hour of falling asleep. That thing is SUPER LOUD when you pump it, so there was no way she was going to keep filling it with air throughout the night (nor should she be expected to, when we're paying over $300 a night!)

    We spoke to the woman at the front desk to see what we could do, since the air mattress was not what we were expecting/promised. She was not very friendly, and said she would speak to the manager when she could. We let her know we would be waiting at the rooftop pool while they sorted it out.

    As we lounged in the pool, we used part of our "hotel credit" that they mentioned upon check in, and ordered a round of cocktails. After about an hour, I stopped back in the room and just happened to see that we had a message on the phone. I called the front desk and the woman gave me attitude for not answering the phone - again, we TOLD THEM we would be at the pool. Anyway, she offered to move us to another room with two beds, BUT the room would not have the attached terrace. I told her I would need to discuss with my friends and call back. Again, she was rude and told me I needed to hurry up and get back to her.

    Slightly annoyed, I go back to discuss with my friends and we decide that it was just not worth it to give this hotel our business when the best they could do was offer us a smaller room while making it seem like it was OUR PROBLEM that we didn't receive what we were paying for.

    We all go to speak to the manager and tell him that we wouldn't be staying the second night, because we were very unhappy with our room AND the customer service. He says that it's fine and prints out a receipt. I notice that we were being charged $40 for the "Rollaway bed." I explain that we are NOT going to pay $40 for a flat air mattress, and he goes on saying that he doesn't know why we were promised a rollaway bed, because they no longer offer rollaway beds at their hotel. He assumed that I booked with an outside company, but then checks the computer and realizes, "Oh, you actually booked with us. Oops. Okay, I won't charge you for a bed you didn't get." WHAT??

    Then, he says that we probably got a faulty air mattress. This guy is just full of excuses and BS!

    Not one apology or attempt to make the situation better. We were annoyed that we had to spend our Saturday afternoon dealing with this. At this point, I also notice that the bill didn't include the drinks we had while waiting at the pool. I mention this to the manager, and we tell him that to be fair we shouldn't be charged for those.

    The manager then begins to accuse us of ordering drinks after we knew we wouldn't stay another night. He resists and says that the food/drink at the pool is a separate entity from the hotel... but then turns around and says, "You know what... we're not gonna fight over $40... okay, I'll take the drinks off of the bill." ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Yes, our master plan was to create all of these issues for one round of free drinks! Can't believe that guy.

    Worst experience ever. Stay somewhere else.

    Gale South Beach:

    - Boutique hotel (read: cramped)
    - Beach location (read: lots of traffic going in and out)
    - Modern (read: see through showers and open bathroom)
    - New renovation (read: not everything is fine tuned, such as our restroom sliding door that would not close all the way)
    - Roof top pool (read: few floors = low hotel = no much of a view because the surrounding hotels are blocking)

    Overall, I wouldn't stay here again. Service was spotty. We were told we would get a call when our rooms were ready - we didn't. We were missing one of our bags when the bellboy dropped them off. They actually didn't believe us and it took two calls AND a trip down to their Front Desk before we could actually get them to agree to check their luggage room, where they eventually found our missing bag. I'm also comparing this to my stay at the Mondrian, which was a mile from Collins but offered more amenities in a nicer, bigger space for the same $$$. With so many better options in SoBe, Gale needs to step it up.

    If you want to stay at a place where you might have the pleasure of getting kicked out of your room if someone who will pay more comes along, stay at the gale!  We ate dinner and were rushed the whole way through.  They picked up our appetizers before we were done and proceeded to drop
    the plates on one of the people in our party.  We went to the bar downstairs and after spending money on multiple rounds and bottle service were kicked out of our table hours after hanging and told it was reserved.  If reserved means some DB tipped the bouncer more than we did, I guess that's the case.  This place sucks.  Stay at the Delano,
    the Fountainebleu or anywhere else.

    First of all, I would probably say that this is the best interior designed boutique hotel I've seen in a long time. The service is very friendly and the location just can't get better. The reason for the missing star is the fact that when going to the rooftop pool, there are no sun umbrellas. It gets extremely hot and there's nowhere to run besides going a floor down to sit on achair instead of leisure on the sun beds. When you go to their beach club, they charge you $15 for single umbrella which is not enough for 3 people. I think it's too much and that they should cover this charge.

    For my 400th review...I'll keep it in Miami.

    Gale South Beach is a Boutique hotel.  Newly renovated to be super chic, modern, and sophiscated. Vintage photos and rich dark woods create a sophisticated yet unpretentious environment throughout the hotel and hallways that reminds me of New York.

    Roof top pool is pretty cool and sexy but not much of a view. Central located so many things are walk away.  Pretty awesome bar and bartender name Angelo that is a true mixologist who can make any cocktail of your choice with your favorite spirits. Next store is a club called the Rec Room which is pretty awesome that plays old school music that deserves it's own review.

    Once I check in, I was offered free champagne and I must drank whole the bottle. Yes, it was a long flight...I needed it.  

    The rooms was spacious to South Beach standards but I found the bed to be a tad small since I'm use to King size bed and it was more like a double reason why I can't give them five stars. The bed was comfortable and heard it cost around $2K each.  The room is pretty sexy with double rain forest shower heads, see through glass, and large mirrors. Each room comes with 55 inch flat screen tv. The clock recharges my iPod and plays music with great sound. I had large two windows that open the room for me on the first floor.

    I'm a big fan of this boutique hotel but make sure you enjoy your company since the bed is small and the see through shower. ;-)

    Pro Tip: Hotel has valet but it takes forever so you are better off finding parking on your own or you can wait upwards to half & hour plus. yikes.

    This hotel is fine I suppose.  The staff was quite rude to me about letting me check-in before my friend arrived.  The entire lobby smells like Scotch which was really off putting, to the point that I didn't even want to sit inside the hotel when it was raining because the smell was so disgusting.  

    The rooms are fairly small.  The bed was quite comfortable.  There's very little lighting.  I didn't even bother trying to use my phone to control everything.

    The pool is decent.  It's generally fairly quiet.  

    I don't think I would stay here again.

    Loved my stay there recently!
    -Perfect location, like a block or two to every major street in south beach florida (on Collins, block from Lincoln, block from beach, blocks from ocean drive)
    -modern yet nostalgic feel to hotel very nice interior decorating
    -amazing heated pool on roof with no obstruction to sun
    -because a small hotel they go above and beyond free wifi but mostly $15 free credit everyday towards restaurant/room service
    -the food was to die for ended up eating there multiple times!
    -what hotel gives u complimentary glasses of champagne? Exactly.
    -access to beach beds and towels on a private hotel space on beach where u can also order drinks and food

    Only minor con is room we got was a weird one by a wall so like no view but other then that everything was 100% perfect!

We also visited the bar and enjoyed a Caprese salad and the Strawberry Collins drink. Highly recommend both! Would definitely stay here again.

    I am currently staying at the hotel so I will update if anything improves. When I booked I was told breakfast was complimentary. When i checked in they told me there is no such thing. The "head receptionist" said he would check and call me at the room when he talked to his manager.... he never called. I went to the (tiny) pool and when i came back i was freaked out because the curtains were closed. It couldn't have been room service i thought.... the bed was wrinkled, my toiletries were still in some disarray... everything looked the same. So I called the front desk.....she told me she would check and call back..... she never did. I called down and she was like oh yeah it was room service no worries. I said "well they didn't do anything"  she said yeah they only change your towels..

    I mean seriously?!?!

    I also ordered a glass of rose that took forever to get because of "the parties all week" he would have to go down stairs. I get a strange plastic glass of wine. tastes ok, some ruminants of watermelon, oh wait that's from the tiny piece of left over watermelon in my cup! WTF Did they just give me some rando sangria or a cup of wine left out?

    Going down hill fast. The "beach club" is a joke. Scrawny towels, no drink service, and $10 for an umbrella.

    3pm just got back to the room.... never made up. I had the house keeping light on. I called down stairs and instead of an apology i got an excuse.. "oh well, I'm not sure what the house keeping schedule is.... I know they leave at 5...."

    Lousy service , rude and don't care attitude of employees...when I read the bad reviews, I though people exaggerate, I wish I took those bad reviews seriously...this place rips you off any way they can, they charge you service charge at the coffe shop for to go coffee...a croissant is $5.50 when it is $3.50 at the most expensive place in town, plus they add the service charge even if you take it to go...they charge resort fee for nothing really...toilets in the room splashes water when you flush it, mirror broken in the room..shower door does not close all the way, no window in the room, you feel like you are I. Prison...grout is all peeled off around the sink, rooms have very dim lights , it makes you depressed, you cannot see well enough to wear you makeup or contact lenses ....room was not cleaned the first day although engineering did come to the room to fix a couple of other non working things.....and much more...your money is much better spent paying more for a descent hotel because with the $25 resort fee and the price of this hotel, you can get a place that actually cares about their customers comfort and not give you the attitude the people at Gale hotel do....this place is a total rip off.

    I loved my stay at the gale. It's a small cozy hotel with amazing decor and the staff could not have been better. The room was fantastic and had a huge private balcony that is great for entertaining. Bar downstairs serves some of the best cocktails in Miami. One con I would say is the valet parking. There were times where I waited up to 2 hours for my car. They recommend to call ahead but that system is always consistent as I got a message saying my car was ready but still had to wait another hour. I give them the benefit of the doubt that their parking lot is blocks away but still.  The gale is conveniently located where you are just a short walk away from the beach and Lincoln rd so you probably don't need to use your car that often.

    That all folks all the rest is negative. I arrived at the hotel early because I flew in on the red eye. The room was not ready. Ok. When will it be ready?  12 pm. Ok. I will wait and suffer for 5hrs15 mins. Come back after 12 pm and the room is no where being ready. And the new girl tells me 4 pm. And she gave me the whole " it ain't my problem" attitude. Aka. I'm sorry there is nothing I can do. She took down my number and is gonna call me when the room is ready. But by the look of it the other reviewers had the same issue. And same shady service. I wish I had yelped before I booked this place. I should have know it was too good to be true.

    Came here with a friend to celebrate my 30th birthday! The room was smaller than what we were expecting, but still cute.  Very close to a lot of shopping! We were able to walk to the beach from the hotel.  The staff were friendly- I tried the 3 egg omelet which was much needed after a long night out.  We peeked at the rooftop pool which is nice, but weather wasn't nice enough to lay out.  I wouldn't mind trying out a bigger room if I come back this way anytime.  This was my first time in Miami and it's literally like Grand Theft Auto Vice City and I love it lol

    It gives me great pleasure to award The Gale, The Regent Cocktail Club, and Dolce a big round of five stars for not only thinking of our out of town visitors, but also thinking of the locals that have hungered for a traditional experience when it comes to dining and entertainment.

    The Regent Cocktail Club offers a laid back ambiance in contrast to the hurly burly atmosphere that is South Beach. Classic cocktails expertly mixed in the traditional way and offered with new twists to enchant the most discerning connoisseur. Located in the rear of the main hotel, it exudes that old world feeling and charm. Ample inside and outside seating live music and cigar friendly (outside) gives every patron an opportunity to relax and enjoy a number of classic and reinvented cocktails.

    Dolce, a fine Italian restaurant located in the front of the building and just upstairs from the main lobby of the Gale Hotel offers incredible Italian cuisine in a contemporary setting. You can dine family style or if it's just you and your significant other, in a pleasant and romantic setting away from the noisy crowds that permeate the South Beach atmosphere. From wood fired oven pizza to the classic Bolognese, you will find each dish is crafted with love and is served with old world character.

    Once you're done wining and dining, you can head downstairs to the Rec Room. This is an amazing space offering a full service bar, a wonderfully varied musical selection and (here's the kicker) in VYNIL! Yes, you can go back to the days of an actual DJ spinning records on the turntables, enjoying the music while sipping your drinks, or dancing until the rooster crows.

    ....and before I forget. When at the Regent Cocktail Club, be sure to ask about the drinks passport. A unique membership experience that will make you a world traveler from the comfort of your cozy lounger right there at the bar.

    Remember always.....even if you pay with plastic (which they gladly accept), tip your waiters and servers in cash. They will appreciate it!

    Modern decor boutique hotel right across the street from the Delano. Great location near the beach and a number of great hotels all around. Let me break it down by the following:

    Room- we were upgraded to a large corner room with a large L shaped balcony containing a bed and sitting area outside. The room itself was a bit small in terms of little room around the bed to put a suitcase. Very comfy bed. Very nicely decorated room overall.

    Restaurant- we enjoyed a late dinner here. Delicious octopus appetizer and prosciutto pizza with truffle oil.

    Pool- in full disclosure, I did not take a dip in the pool. I did stop by to check out the rooftop pool. It was really nice and there was definitely a crowd there enjoying it on a hot afternoon.

    Concierge- Great service. They got my friend's cell number and keep her informed via text message when happy hour was starting each day. Also they recommended a great restaurant for dinner and arranged for a free golf cart ride to the restaurant. While we were at dinner, we texted the concierge on low key bar options in the area, they texted back within the hour some recommendations. Impressive!

    Modern design with an art deco flair -- walls were lined with vintage postcards, and black and white beach photos from the 50s.

    Pool/Beach Access:
    It's not beach front, but the beach is a block away. The hotel charges a resort fee that counts for 2 beach towels and chairs in partnership with another hotel (the red and white ones) just to the left of The Delano.

    I loved the rooftop pool. Yes, it is a touch smaller than most pools, but did the trick to keep us cool and they serve cocktails right to you. We opted for the prosecco the majority of the time -- $40 a bottle, which was tame compared to most places serving up $20 cocktails. There were plenty of chairs for our group of 6, and they provide 2 towels per room. My friend and I shared a chicken caesar wrap the first day -- a good one to share. If you need shade, you're only refuge is the one cabana or under the umbrellas by the bar.

    Room:
    The room we stayed in was gorgeous. The back wall was lined with black and white beach photos. It was cool to get a glimpse of what Miami Beach was like in the 50s. Our double room had a desk too. There was lots of space and the bed were the most comfortable ever -- like a cloud. I slept like a dream. On the first floor, it is a bit of a downer because people can see directly into our room from the streets so we had to remember to shut the curtains while changing, which made the room quite dark. The shower is glass so be prepared to be fully visible showering. The shower head is spectacular -- the shower head is on the ceiling so it's like a waterfall.

    Service:
    Top notch -- doors were opened for us, bags were carried to our room, hellos and goodbyes every time we came and went. The pool bartender was super accommodating, grabbing bloody mary supplies for us from downstairs so we could start our day at the pool right.

    Noise:
    On our last night, we tucked ourselves in a little earlier (~2am compared to 4am...) than the previous nights since a few of us had early flights. Things were just getting started at the downstairs club. Being on the first floor meant quite a bit of noise. We had to toss on a white noise app to drown out the bumping bass. I wouldn't recommend a room on the first floor if you're early to bed... but then again, who goes to bed early in Miami Beach?

    Overall, we had a great stay and the hotel was beautiful. The only real downside was the noise from the hallway by The Regent and the downstairs nightclub.

    I really enjoy staying here. I stayed at a room with baloney. The room itself was good enough for one or two people with queen size bed. But the balcony was spacious with many seating and there was a lime tree with many lime on it.
    There is a roof top pool with cabana and many chairs. Location is perfect for everything, few mints away from the beach and restaurants and clubs. Over all, it's very modern and clean. The reception area, bar and hall ways some how reminded me of Abercrombie & Fitch decor and the area even smelled like the store ( in a nice way).
    And most and last thing I was impressed was all the staff member were so nice. I feel very welcome. Everyone greeted me and my hubby with nice smile and they all seemed to know every guests by the name including us.

    I chose this hotel based on reviews as well as location. The location was perfect: far enough from the busy ocean drive area, a block from the beach and close to lincoln ave. I immediately felt welcomed when I checked in, the front desk staff was friendly and courteous. I had no issues with the check in and was happy about the credit we got to use with the hotel restaurant: Dolce (which is amazing by the way). I had tweeted about my stay and got a coupon for a free bottle of wine upon arriving!

    They charge a resort fee but I think it was reasonable as I had free wifi, beach towel/chair access with a partner hotel as well as credit to use towards the restaurant.

    The only issue I had with the hotel was noise. I was staying on the 3rd floor and I could hear the bass of the music playing in the lounge till 2-3 in the morning on a Thursday night. Also, I could hear anyone who walked by the halls that were talking very clearly. The bathroom shower was a little small and cramped with just a shower curtain but for the price I paid, I'm not complaining.

    I think it would be worth it to pay more and upgrade to a suite! I had gotten the weekday stay deal off their website and it was under $300 a night for a regular room.
