This eleven room hotel was amazing to stay in. The surroundings were beautiful and well cared for. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel is located on the upstairs of one of the buildings in the shopping district, so it's best to use valet parking through the hotel (but there is TONS of eating and shopping within walking distance of your door). I highly recommend staying here when a trip to South Beach is in your future.

Ithaca of South Beach is a hidden gem just one block away from Ocean Drive and the beautiful Miami beach. While this hotel could be described as small and boutique, it more than makes up for it with the absolutely gorgeous (and spacious) rooms furnished with chandeliers and google TVs. The service was outstanding and personal. Derrick and Dion both went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome. This included a glass of champagne at check in and a complimentary delicious spread for breakfast. I know I'll be staying here again when I visit South Beach again!

Stayed here with my wife and her parents October 15 & 16 2013. I hate to be the one that bursts the bubble but this hotel isn't all it's cracked up to be. The location is great, yes, and the amenities in the room etc. are good; but the attitude of the staff leaves a LOT to be desired! On arrival we were given this convaluted speech from Dion (concierge) about how we would be treated like "extended family' etc. and all our needs would be met without question.

Well, Mr. Dion and his colleague Agatha did not live up to expectations! Agatha was very rude to my wife when asked for a coffee that was more that tepid; and Dion was rude also regarding the same issue some time later. To cut a long saga short Dion never even looked our way when we checked out. There was a cool French dude there named Cyrise (I think) and he was in training, but was better than anyone else we met there! We also didnt need to know what college Dion graduated from (allegedly) or that he was working 26 days straight before we arrived!

His method of "training" was rude and inept; and his description of the room was a little OTT for our liking. The room (avoid rm 101!) was next to "reception" (a tiny room with window), so consequently we heard every noise known to man all night long.
When my wife called a few days later to speak with a manager/owner, she was given the run around by Dion, who refused to give her the managers or owners contact details!?

Needless to say we won't be going back to this hotel anytime soon! We were offered a "free night" for our troubles; but do they really think we would stay there again?! I cannot recommend this hotel in good conscience. The rudeness of the staff (except the French guy!) outweighed every other good element to The Ithaca! This so-called "hidden gem" by so many other reviewers needs some serious polishing!

Staying at Ithaca was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had! First of all---the service was above and beyond amazing! We got there early from a cruise, but the lovely front desk girl offered to hold our bags for us while we explored and gave us a place to change and freshen up. The best recommendation she gave---was the yummy Cuban restaurant down the street and COLADAS! thank you!! :) The hotel provides all the beach gear you need which is perfect--the walk to the beach is about one minute from the hotel. The gentleman who took care of us during the afternoon/evening was great too--very friendly and took great care of us. The hotel itself is perfectly clean and I love the decor/theme---gorgeous property! The rooms are HUGE, comfy beds, trendy decor. Some people complain about the lack of huge lobby and entrance---but honestly this is what I prefer. The building is well marked on the outside, but it is just a door not an over the top unnecessary entrance. I almost don't want to tell anyone about this place because once everyone knows it will be impossible to get a reservation here :) Can't wait to come back!!! Wish I could have stayed longer!

I greatly enjoyed staying at this intimate boutique hotel. Great location, just a block away from the beach and all the restaurants/entertainment. The rooms are the best part of this hotel: spacious, bright and beautifully decorated in Art Deco style! We have not had any problems with the service, but I could see why some people might get turned off by it (only one person checking in/answering questions, poor continental breakfast, slightly difficult to find/park your vehicle). Overall though I will still give it 5 stars!! I don't remember the rate we got, but I remember we were very pleased with the value! I would stay there again!

Impressed by this boutique hotel. They pay attention to detail and having a piece of luxury a few steps from the South Beach strip was fantastic. Walking distance to Sobe strip, beach, eats, and shopping. What more could we ask? Champagne welcome, daily wine & cheese, & continental breakfast. Lots of space to unwind with modern decor while watching your google tv. Loves it.

We stayed here for a 1 night layover on a Sunday in June.

Disappointing.   The kids running the place were very nice though.

Room was nice but the building appears to be under renovation and workmen kept banging on my door.  Was not restful - miserable.    They were switching cable providers so TV didn't work.  They had to get in the room for 20 minutes to work on it

It was never quiet - stomping and banging around in the hallway - sucked

A free glass of champagne was supposed to make up for my aggravation - it didn't

$28 a night for parking

Building is a dump - "hotel" is located above some cheesy tourist shop.    Had to drag my suitcase up the stairs!!   When I got into the tiny dark lounge area, the employees were sitting around watching soccer

Didn't bother getting up to check out their idea of "breakfast"

I really want to give more stars to this hotel, because our stay was pretty wonderful, but unfortunately the staff was quite rude on one important issue to me.

Being Vegetarian, I was a little shocked at the cow-skin rug on the floor when we walked into our room and simply asked if they could remove it for the remainder of our stay. A simple request, the staff could have easily rolled up the cowhide and tucked it away, ensuring that their guest was comfortable. Instead, the concierge called the hotel owner, who argued that the hide was fake (which I still do not believe - especially since every room has a different cowhide.) and that they would not move it. Regardless of it being real or fake, I would expect the hotel to recognize that a guest was upset by it and quickly move it away for the night. So, for that, I am taking away a star.

Other than the big disappointment with the rug, our stay was quite enjoyable. This hotel is in a great location, only a block from the beach. The hotel also provides beach towels, a bag to carry your beach supplies as well as an umbrella and chairs on request. The hotel suites are very big with modern furniture and the room was extremely clean when we arrived. The staff was a little overwhelming at check in, showing us every detail of the room, but since they brought in Champagne to welcome us, we were able to drink away while he showed us how to use the T.V. remote.

The bathroom shower had nice pressure and was nice and high, which is great for my husband who is 6'3".

Waking up to a fresh breakfast is very nice as well. The hotel provided a simple breakfast which included coffee, juices, toast, muffins, bagels and an assortment of sandwich toppings to make a bagel sandwich. Each evening, the hotel also has wine and cheese tastings to enjoy, although we missed that while we were out exploring the city.

The hotel was within walking distance to many eateries, as well as ocean drive. The hotel staff is quick to offer suggestions for dinner as well as local hang-outs to get away from the tourist crowd.

Check out was a little earlier than I would like, when paying $260 a night, I would like to have a full 24 hours at the hotel. Check in was 3pm, check out 11am. I would prefer a 12pm or even 1pm check out option.

Concierges at the best hotels around the world have something to learn from Dion Moore at the Ithaca. He's thorough, has connections to the best restaurants, lounges, and clubs in the area, and goes above and beyond to make sure his guests have an amazing time.
For the room size, location, decor, this is hands down the best value. I usually stay at the W but this cute boutique hotel is among my favorites in the area.
