Great place to stay if you're just looking to have a roof over your head while staying in South Beach.  We booked La Flora through BookIt.Com and overall, had a great experience.  For the price, anyway.  There were a few things they didn't have that I'm sure more pricey hotels would have (free continental breakfast, a pool, a bell hop, etc.) but if you can get past those things, you'll have a good stay.

They had a respectful staff that kept the place clean and inviting.  The front porch and lobby have a bunch of tables and chairs where we sat, relaxed, smoked, people-watched, etc.  Since it was during WMC, there were a couple nights where there were live DJ's pumping some great house music in our lobby/front porch.  It was a very young and festive crowd (which is great because we're young and we love to party too!) and wsas an overall fun place to be.

They have free WiFi connectivity in their lobby (but only there, not the hotel rooms .. kind of sucks but like I said, this isn't the Ritz Carlton or anything).

Our hotel rooms had central air conditioning, which I love (and need!) when I'm in SoBe.

One thing I wish they had was full length mirrors somewhere in their rooms.

Overall, this place was a pleasant, fun place to say and was great for the price.  Its only steps away from the beach and in the middle of everything that is everything in the area.

This is place is great for the money and the location is SUPER close to everything! The La Flora gives you the basic needs of a hotel room: shower, bed, fridge, and a TV. However, there were a few things that you would normally receive in a hotel room that was missing:

-a clock. I know this is South Beach and I was strictly there to party and lay out on the beach, but it would had been nice to set an alarm or see the time.
-towels! We had them but not enough. Every time we requested towels it was a looong wait and I don't like to sleep before showering after coming from the beach
-lighting. Very poor on the lighting. The bathroom was well lit but the living room was not.
-ICE. I'm drinking all night and I need to detox the next day. It would had been nice to have an ice machine so I can have some cold water.
-phonebook. They had a vistors guide which didn't provide much info. We only knew the Domino's number for delivery because it was on our key card. It would have been nice to be able to look up other food places in the area.

Aside from that, the hotel staff are VERY FRIENDLY and will be glad to help you. The hotel itself is very quiet. Had no complaints of noise from inside or outside the hotel (we heard the fireworks for 4th July but that was a guarantee).

So if you are only looking to party and lay out on the beach all day on a budget, then this is a great hotel!

If you're looking to stay close to the beach (1 block away) and experience South Beach for what it has to offer at an affordable price, this place is ok. Just beware that if you're used to staying at 3-4 star hotels, it may be a different experience from what you're used to. They offer a bed, shower, TV and that's about it. The staff was friendly and accommodating, however, the room was kind of small and there was a constant shortage of towels. Also there is no refrigerator, ice machine, continental breakfast, hair dryer, in-room safe, iron...

There may be an extra resort fee charged per person when you get there depending on which website you book with.

Overall, it was a good experience because all I wanted was to be close to the beach and party for the weekend.

This place is great ! It's not a 5 star resort, but it's definitely worth your money. Amazing location, clean environment, and super friendly staff. It does get a bit loud at night, but that's pretty normal in south beach. No pool, but no need for it when the beach is one block away! They also just opened a bar downstairs and they have happy hour all day long and they provide complimentary breakfast like bagels and cereal. I'd definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone!

I'd say if you're use to staying at nice hotels but your looking for the cheap prices this is your BEST BET. I was skeptical because I didn't know what to expect and I'm real picky about where I lay my head.

Pros: Big LCD TV, Nice clean white sheets, updated bathroom, CENTRAL AIR, fridge, down the street from the beach, block away from ALL THE ACTION, breakfast voucher to the restaurant next door (cereal, toast, coffee, juice)  Nice sitting area outside to drink and socialize.

Cons: weird stair way (but there's an elevator) size of room. NOT ENOUGH TOWELS (luckily we brought our own!)

In all the place is great, and the customer service was cool also. They had a cab waiting for me at 5am to the airport :) When I go back to south beach if i'm not trying to be fancy LA FLORA IT IS!

La Flora is a great option if you want to be in the middle of South Beach.  The beachfront and restaurants on the strip are within a 2-5 minute walk, yet La Flora is not surrounded by many of the beachfront hotels that blast music all evening long.

The customer service is great.  They are always professional and try to give great advice.  They have beach towels on-hand, and were nice enough to loan me a couple without any collateral on my last day there since I checked out early and had some time to head to the beach before going to the airport.

The rooms are also pretty large and modern.  There is a small fridge as well as a nice area for lounging and watching TV.  The fading integrity of the Art Deco hotel is apparent as you can hear creaking from those walking in a room above you and the shower took a few minutes to heat up.  The breakfast was also very basic.  Bagels, muffins, boiled eggs, cereal, and juice left some room for improvement.  The complimentary welcome drinks were so small I almost mistook mine for a shot glass.

In all, other than some small areas for improvement that I noted, you can expect an excellent location, nice room, and helpful staff at La Flora.  I'd say that it's a safe bet if you are overwhelmed by all of the options on South Beach.

I booked a room at this hotel because of the location and couldn't not have been happier in that regard. This hotel is within mere blocks from everything.

The hotel staff was AMAZING; super friendly and helpful as soon as we walked in right up until we left. I enjoyed the continental breakfast every morning I was there and was very happy with the options (standard fare of bagels, boiled eggs, cereal, coffee, orange juice). The lobby is nice and trendy with a bar and tables. Good ambiance.

The only thing keeping me from being 100% satisfied with my stay is the housekeeping. The floors were not cleaned daily, especially in the bathroom where we saw hair and dust accumulate over the three days we were there. Also, the bathtub did not drain well and by the end of a 10 minute shower, the water was up over my ankles. Not normally a problem, but after being at the beach all day, one tends to get dirtier than usual. The tub got really cruddy. I told the front desk and the next day it drained a little better, but not great. It took about 15 minutes to get above my ankles. So my complaint is not about the staff, but about the plumbing.

Overall, not a bad place. It's a 2-star hotel, so I wasn't expecting much, but if they fixed the plumbing and cleaning issues, I would have sworn it was 3 stars.

They were extremely nice especially Louis. After we checked out he still made sure we were doing okay (he had time to kill so we chilled there for couple hours). I will definitely come back just for the costumer service. Other than that breakfast was good enough. Hotel was clean. Wifi wasnt fast but it didnt really matter to me.

Conidering the location, 1.5 blocks from the south beach, and the boutiqueness of the hotel, I'm 5 starring this one!

The staff is AWESOME!  They are super friendly and very helpful.  While this property doesn't have a workout room or a pool, why do you need one, when the beach is seriously that close?

The rooms are clean and spacious!  For the price, you just can't go wrong.  They also offer a 10% discount the next time you visit if you provide your previous reservation number.

Compared to other south beach hotels, this one is well worth the price and you can't beat the hospitality.

    Go have fun!

Luis up front was super nice and made us feel welcome. Pretty good stay! The beds were very comfortable and the night was quiet. However, if you stay here, expect a honk here and a honk there. You're in the center of the nightlife. Breakfast was not too shabby, just enough for the tummy.

Recently stayed at La Flora with my boyfriend for a weekend getaway. The customer service was great, the rooms were clean, the hotel offers free breakfast, free wifi, and free happy hour. You also can't beat the location.

    My only complaints are that:

    * we couldn't control our ac from the room. We asked to make the room cooler a few times but we either never felt the difference or it didn't last long.

    * our room was facing an ally and every night around 2 or 3 am our room would smell like cigarette smoke.

    * the room was small and the walls were paper thin

Quite honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that the rooms don't have their own ac units, I'd gladly stay here again.

Just left after a week's stay and could not be happier about my experience. The staff were exceptional !! Definitely returning next year. I have been traveling to Miami for the past 10years, and have stayed at President Hotel, Marseilles, suites on south beach, south beach plaza to name a few and have never been impressed to write a review. Not saying I've had bad experiences at any previously mentioned hotel but this one was definitely a standout !!!

Check out Diane at the Hotel Bar, great personality and makes deliciously fabulous cocktails !!!

Carlos at front desk was amazing in organizing a surprise for my friend's birthday. They delivered a bottle of Champagne and sang , truly made my friend's day special. Thank You!!!

    It's fine.

First the good. Clean rooms, clean sheets, clean bathroom, helpful staff and fast free wifi. air conditioning works VERY WELL.

The bad: mattresses are very saggy and old. Hurt my back to sleep on. No full length mirror (hotel standard practice). NO SHADES!!! Only blinds that do nothing to stop the early morning sun, so if u plan on sleeping in, think again! Bathroom is a little small and the lighting is dim, it was very hard to shave my face in that lighting. No USB charging station (hotel standard feature even in our dinky b&b in key west).

Overall it was a pretty cheap clean hotel in a decent location.

Hotel bartender DIANE was excellent. Great drink mixer, great personality and local knowledge.

Over the past couple of years my friends and our wives have begun a tradition of a yearly trip to Miami. We usually stay at the Clifton but it was closed for remodeling last month. We decided to try La Flora and were more than pleased! From the moment we walked in we were treated extremely courteously by the staff  and the room was great

The Room: May have been the largest room on south beach for the price. Very spacious room with comfortable bed and couches make puts this place a giant step above any other I've ever been.

Cleanliness: The maid staff is quick and efficient. It seemed like our room was cleaned the moment we walked out every morning

Front desk staff: Another plus for the hotel. The people at the front desk are amazing and had committed our names to memory right after our first meeting

Perks: Every day they have a happy hour at the bar where those with a hotel room (and any of their guests) drink for free. Diane (the bartender) was incredible

All in all it was a great experience. If there is one thing I wish they did it would be to offer beach chairs in addition to beach towels like many of the other hotels around the area. But with great service and rooms as nice as these they've definitely converted my wife and I into returning guests

I had a terrible experience at La Flora Hotel.

We traveled to Miami in late 2013, and we were bouncing around from South Beach, to Key West, to Orlando. In between Key West and Orlando, we stayed one night again in South Beach, at this hotel. We bussed up from Key West in the evening, were exhausted and tired, and to make a long story short - we were not able to get into our hotel room until after midnight. Hey, that might not sound like such a bad thing in South Beach, but we had to catch a 5am bus to Orlando the next morning and would have appreciated a good night's sleep. The front desk attendant was not helpful at all.

This experience was such a negative experience for my fiancee and I, that I still remember how terrible this place was a year and a half later.

With so many other options for hotels on South Beach, this place offers nothing special except terrible service.

A friend of mine was staying in Miami at this hotel and was robbed and lost many irreplaceable valuables due to a window in his first floor room that was unable to lock. The front desk staff refused to call management and stated that the issue was "not their problem." Such a shame. I
