Ok, so this place looks like a hole in the wall and I was a bit scared about trying their food but I was starving and I saw people eating there (locals) so I gave it a shot. To my surprise the food was actually pretty good and for the price, you can't beat it. It is run by an Argentinian family (Argentinians know how to cook very well) and I swear the hotdogs, steak sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, chicken fingers were really tasty.
They also have meat, spinach and ham/cheese empanadas which run out my the end of the week so that only the meat ones are left during the weekend. The breakfast isn't too bad. For $5.95, you get two eggs, two slices of bacon, toast, pancakes and a coffee. I didn't like the coffee (American) so they easily replaced it for me with bottled water.

The staff is really nice, no lack in customer service whatsover.  Norma is our favorite but the other gentlemen and the late night watch guard were all very nice, too.  I think they communicater with eachother telepathcially.  Any negative views on customer service here can be ignored.  We were able to check in a little early as they were very sympathetic to our situation.  They had our room ready.  Then we found out we had to switch rooms and upgrade for an extra bed.  Double Room only means a small studio with one queen bed, for two people.  That is a little confusing but it was only an extra $10/night to upgrade to a two bed room if you need it.  We got one queen and one twin, which I failed to call dibs on the bigger bed and my friend made me sleep in the twin.  Oh well, he paid for the room so I guess its fair.  The kitchen will help you save money but we still ate out anyhow.  We stashed our own beverages at home which we bought.  We thought we were going to actually eat groceries we bout.  But this area has some awesome cuban food!  Just eat out.

I HAD THE BEST HAM AND SWISS SANDWICH AT THE CAFE NEXT DOOR!  YUMYUMYUM.  This family run business has surprisingly clean fresh food at a low cost.  Everything you want from a little cafe.  But it closes at 4pm, or 3pm on holidays.  There is a decent 7/11 gas station next door should you need anything else.

FREE PARKING, especially during new years.  This was great.  We did not drive and pay $14 for metered parking and further risk getting towed from a very strict parking policy.  I heard of at least 3 people getting their cars towed.  PARK YOU CAR AT THE HOTEL, AND FORGET ABOUT IT.

ROOMS are humbling but it was good  enough and clean enough to get us through partying for New Years.

CABS were not too hard to find right outside but sometimes you have to cross poorly planned streets so please WATCH OUT.  No stars on Miami's Urban Development at all.  PUBLIC TRANSIT we never took but the front desk will set you up with a map and route.  I jsut didn't know how to pay for it.

WIFI was obtainable but I think we just had a good room.  During a busy day it may slow down a little but you can get on.

Between the cafe and the staff it was easy to feel at home and just relax.  Cheap quick and simple.  A rare find.

I checked in Wednesday and stood 3 nights. I believe the total came out to around $230. Which is almost unheard of considering the hotel is literally a minute walk from the beach. I traveled alone so I didn't mind the small room. It was good enough size for me. The room had an ac (which I left on the whole day), full size bed (cozy), night stand with night lamp, closet, box tv (no cable), a table with a couple chairs, mini fridge, microwave, and a full size bathroom. My only problem is that there wasn't a better lock on the door. It was one of those press down button door knob lock. Other than that it's a good stay if your on a budget. The beach is one block away, you have 7 Eleven next door, and there's a lot of great restaurants near by.

If you're staying on Collins Ave and need a good place for food, Lombardy Inn and Cafe is for you. Nice and inexpensive in comparison to the hefty $50 lunches at the hotels on the avenue.

Staff was very friendly and attentive. We walked into the hotel not knowing where the cafe was, and the front desk staff actually walked us right to the cafe which was in the next building. Loved that.

The food was very good and plentiful and hubby and I only spent $16 on lunch; the cheapest we'd spent all week. My only issue is I wish I had known about this place sooner as I could've saved a whole lot of $$$.
