I've stayed there twice -- once a couple of years ago when they first opened and then once again this Spring.  The difference was night-and-day.  They had some HUGE growing pains when they first opened, but now they're pretty much together.  The one and only complaint is the bar.  Service there simply sucks, and the drinks are tiny and overpriced.

Pretty classy hotel located on trendy Ocean Blvd. right along the beach. The room was very comfortable and came with a 42 inch plasma . The bathroom was fantastic and Marriott definately has one of the better tubs and showers among all renowned hotels. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous and always willing to go the extra mile. The gym was fully equipped with all the machines and weights that I would ever need and since it was always empty, I felt like I had my own private gym.
Unlike the review below I actually thought the location was great. Its barely a 10-15 minute walk from most of the bars, clubs and restaurants in the area.
Oh and they have a great bar/restaurant overlooking the ocean. A nice place to sip some scotch ( or anything else) while taking in the sights and sounds of SoBe.

The South Beach Marriott is a very solid hotel, with a pool (ok, not great) and incredible view of the ocean. It's in a great location, and the rooms are nice. However - i have to take issue with the BARTENDERS. They really, really sucked the big one. Very inattentive, bordering on rude and socially inept. Sorry - but that's the way it was, and everyone at the bar was commenting on the poor social skills. Drinks were $13, and served in a plastic dixie cup. Pretty weak if you asked me. I did have the wings, which were quite tasty, and the strip steak, which was surprisingly good. I was only there for 1 night, so not much else to say. If not for the poor bartenders (i spent like 6 hours at the outdoor pool bar), this place would get 4 stars.

After working in the hotel industry for over 3 years now I consider myself to be pretty picky when I stay at hotels...this one is great. The front desk staff was friendly, they knew that there were 5 of us staying in a room so they made sure we had plenty of towels every morning, bartenders made strong drinks and our room was clean every morning...and we got a great rate oh and our view was the ocean...life was perf. MIAMI I MISSSSS YOUUUUU. P.s. there is a starbucks in the hotel!! I could live here.

This was my first stay in Miami and I had a good experience with this hotel. It is a beautiful structure, with elegant front lobby and clean standard rooms. I didn't find it particularly spectacular, so if you are looking for a unique and unforgettable experience this location probably isn't for you. I had a medium size, pretty standard room with city view, which basically amounted to no view at all. I was fine with that because I didn't come to Miami to look out the window, but again, if you are looking to spend quality time indoors, invest in rooms with oceanfront views.

The food at the Tiki bar was bland and expensive, but delicious breakfast at the lobby restaurant more than made-up for that. Valet parking is $33, or you drive around for half an hour looking for a place to park on your own.  What's good about this location is that it is in the "quiet" part of South Beach so you don't hear all the nutty people screaming outside, but taxi rides to all the action down the strip won't leave you broke.

Hotel has a nice contingent of people staying there, some couples, business folks, nice families and couples on vacation. I haven't had issues with kid-related noise,  though the kids in the hot tub at 10 in the evening did get a bit irritating. Good news? The beach is just steps away and the view at night (it was full moon when I staid there) was unforgettable.

I would happily stay there again if I was looking for nice, basic type of accommodations. You get a good value for your money.

I stayed in Room 720.  It was an average room.  A little on the small side but overall it was nice and very quiet.  Never heard my neighbors having loud sex in the middle of the night, like you usually do on vacation.  Rarely heard anyone at all ... even the construction going on next door wasn't too bad.

The best part of the room was the plasma television and the shower.  (loved the shower).  Oh and the bed was very comfortable.  We ordered room service twice, pretty good and fast both times. The views weren't that great. But they weren't bad either.   From the balcony I could see the ocean to the left and the condos of the city to my right.

The pool was closed for renovation so we had free chair rentals on the beach, which was a better deal in my opinion.

I love that this hotel is on the quieter end of the beach.  I never got stuck in traffic and it was extremely easy to drive to and from when I needed to go to other parts of the city.

There seemed to be an issue with the room keys.  I got locked out twice and I heard another guest mention the same thing.  But other than that I have absolutely no complaints. Friendly staff, easy beach access, quiet and well kept hotel.  Will definitely remain on my favorites list.

Great hotel - I've stayed here twice. The worst thing about this hotel (for most people) is the location. It's about a 8-10 minute walk from the main part of Ocean (which I would consider news cafe). But I like that about this place - you get to escape to your hotel when you're done with the scene. Also, they have a nice section of the beach where you can always find a great spot. Just a couple blocks away from The Big Pink and the restaurants in that area.

Service is great and attentive.

I tried sitting out in the terrace area near the pool and was almost eaten up by mosquitoes - don't recommend that. If you want to lay on the beach, be prepared to pay $10 per chair and umbrella.

Meh. Unless you can get a good deal on this place (under $300), not worth it. Great location, nice outdoor space, and obviously being near (on-ish) the beach is great. But nothing inside to wrote home about (bar, restaurant, roooms, etc.). For being ranked so high in Marriott's magical category system, don't see the reason besides being on South Beach.

This is a really great property.  The hotel is immaculate and has a very open, airy feel to it.  The pool area and all of the patios have a variety of really comfortable lounge chairs.  There's also a champaigne toast every day at like 3 p.m. which is kinda fun.  The Concierge Lounge has outdoor seating and amazing views along with a nice selection of food, especially at breakfast.

We had an oceanfront room with a balcony and I could literally lay in bed and gaze at the ocean.  It was awesome.  The rooms were kind of small, but that was really the only drawback.  Oh and the concierge service was a bit sketchy at times.  One guy was pretty good but there were 2 others that just seemed like straight up weirdos.

This hotel is straight.  Usually stay at the Eden Roc which blows this place away.  Rooms are smaller here and not as pimp.  Location is pretty dope.  Walked up and down Ocean Dr.  Fun to say the least.

FANTASTIC HOTEL!  Service was excellent!  Everyone was very classy!

The security guards were really nice considering that we kept getting in trouble by the room next door because we were being too "loud" at 11pm.    So i guess that would be a down side to this place...a lot of people who stay here arent really your young party crowd.  But if you want to be quiet around 11pm, please just walk your butt over to your neighbor and tell them to tone it down because seriously the security guards arent going to get all pissed at 4 girls trying to get ready to go out at night. thanks! (p.s, if you get 3 complaints you'll be threatened with an eviction haha)

This hotel is overall very beautiful! great amenities...pool is right off the beach...just a minute walk away...starbucks right by the entrance for those coffee lovers with a hangover...and a block away from the must go to Big Pinks restaurant!

Love this place!  There's a Starbuck on site.

We spent 4 nights there from 9/30 to 10/4.  From reservation to check in, everything was great.  Staff were friendly and professional.  The waiter in the Blue Deco also gave us tips on places to visit in Miami.  We did have to remind the front desk twice to get us the food coupons that came with the reservation but it's not a big deal.  I called the service desk regarding the broken shower and got upgraded to a suite.   Perfect!!

There's only 1 restaurant in the hotel but the food there is pretty decent. Defintely try the mojito!!

A terrific Marriott property with that south beach flair and marriott service. Very stylish for a marriott. As a PLATIMUM member, I was well treated and upgraded to a suite (sweet!). Check-in could have been smoother but overall the service was just terrific (thanks Jiselle), and even the housekeeping staff were so nice.

I wanted to check-in at 12:45 pm but had to wait until after 3 pm because I asked for an upgrade as a Platinum Rewards member (and I used points to pay for this stay). It was worth the wait.

Bed so comfy, space was generous, balcony was huge and nice view, felt very secure here. Loved the laundry machine, flat screen HD tvs, good (not worn) furniture.

I have to say the restaurant here was not good for lunch. A margarita pizza came undercooked. Then a caeasar salad limped onto our table with the most watered down dressing I've ever tasted. The cheese seemed to be shaken from some plastic container and did not seem all that fresh. I found the service to be so-so but the waiter did not seem to be interested in our satisfaction of the meal. My mahi-mahi sandwich was satisfactory....I change my mind...it was done well with the nice touch of onion mayo with avacado. Our cola glass was awfully thin and full of ice for $4. The atmophere is pleasant for a resort type of restaurant as I dined outdoors...looks are deceiving as the quality of the food was...well, go elsewhere. Starbucks is attached...a necessity.

The lobby, hallways, elevator, etc. were all really nice. I feel spoiled and after staying in dozens of Marriotts all-over, this was a Marriott highlight.

The property is right on the beach (woo hoo) and beware, the beach chairs are operated by a different company but they will let you charge to the room. Get there early and that's anywhere in SoBe if you want a prime spot. Same goes with the pool....it's a smaler pool than I expected and the lounge chairs are right ontop of each other which doesn't allow for any good umbrella coverage (with the few they have) and you can only flip them 180 degrees, no room to adjust. One person can splashes from the pool will splast right onto you.

I'm enjoying myselh here and what a prize to get for 105,000 Marriott Rewards points for a 3-night stay here.

There's a DecoBike station almost next to the hotel making travel all over SoBe very effecient so you don't have to feel like you are far away from allthe SoBe action.

Kudos for a very clean hotel, good housekeeping, comfortable bed (so nice), great views.

Stayed at this Marriott one time, was not impressed by the $700 a night ocean front room. Luckily I had some friends to split the bill with me, or else I don't think it would be worth it at all. Although you can kind of see the ocean, our room was on the second floor, so there was a lot bushes blocking our view. The plus side was that this hotel was right near Nikki Beach. After a long night, its nice to know you can stumble back to your hotel room afterwards.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.      We originally booked at The Savoy but left because it was such a dump.  We ended getting a room at this Marriott.   It's a perfect location at the Southern end of South Beach.
The valet staff was very professional and quick.     The lobby is welcoming and has an upscale, modern look and feel.     They front desk staff was very accommodating.  We had an issue with our reservation not appearing in their system so they upgraded us to an ocean view room for the price of their lowest regular room.    We were very happy with that service.

They have two decent-size pools, a jacuzzi, an outside bar/restaurant and an outside lounge.    You can walk right on to the beach.       The hotel is not too small and not too large.

I used my point to book this hotel. I have stayed at the new Eden Roc and was BLOWN AWAY so I figured; well same amount of points I may as well try is since Yelpers love it. I can say that this time I was let down...BIG TIME. The room I got was one with Ocean View with Double beds (I was told I was upgraded) The room is TINY; it's like staying in a New York City hotel where the beds take up all the real estate. Compare it to Eden Roc which is also Marriott; where the room is 3 times bigger with a HUGE balcony and the pools and outside cafe is unbelievable I sort of feel like I wasted my points and if I had paid for it I would have felt like I was ripped off. Both hotels are on the ocean; the difference is this one is on Ocean Drive; but so what!!!! You can walk or take a cab to Ocean drive if you are looking for that Miami Beach action.

The Marriott on South Beach is one of my favorite places to stay.   I know I should probably not give away the secret but the best part about the hotel is that it is off the "main drag" of South Beach but still close enough to walk to everything.   It is right off the beach so it is a convenient place to stay for a vacation or just a get away.   We stayed there before a cruise for a nice long weekend.   The staff was very helpful; the hotel is very clean and well maintained.  We stayed in the hotel 2 years ago and it has managed to keep very well maintained and updated.  In fact they even added an additional pool to the hotel and the service there is resort quality but on a smaller scale. Most of the rooms have a great view of the ocean so you get a great sunrise in the morning.  They have a Starbucks Coffee on the first floor so you don't have to go far to get your morning "Pick Me Up".

So far so good. We've been here 3 days so far and not many complaints. Beautiful beachfront hotel, with 2 nice pools & a jacuzzi. Great outdoor seating areas and beach amenities. The only thing we would suggest is a poolside bar. They have a bar overlooking the pool & waiter service poolside, but I prefer the poolside bar hangout area . The concierge lounge is ok, pretty average food & service, but all and all, and clean, comfortable and pretty hotel. Good service, nice restaurant and great location close enough the action ( 4 blocks from the busy part of ocean dr) but far enough away to be relaxing.

Location was amazing! On the sea! We were there during the week - not too busy! Plenty of places to lounge outside. Perfect! Service was great!

Only one bad thing is that there is one open shower near the swimming pool which does not have hot water - so people take shower very quickly and casually - which means swimming pool and sauna are filthy (do not look filthy but of course they are)!

The Marriott South Beach is situated in an amazing location and they take advantage of it for all its worth.  I usually stay in Marriott's on business so I am used to their generally boring interiors and exteriors.  This Marriott must have been designed from the ground up for South Beach, as evident by its amazing views from its rooms, restaurant, and pool; all overlook the amazing beach and there is also a path that guests can take to get down to it.

-Very attentive staff.
-Amazing pools; waitresses regularly keep guests liqueured up!
-Rooms are bright and fun.
-Views are exceptional.
-Not your usual Marriott.
-Marriott provides its guests with free towel service on the beach and near the pool.

-Nearly $40 valet service, per night.
-Internet is $14 dollars a day.  I mean, come on.
-Reserving a beach chair is $10 each.  It seems a little excessive when other hotels allow chair reservations for free.

Overall, we really liked this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.  Just be aware, the services are a little pricey.

I absolutely love this hotel and the classy people that work here.  The best room in the place is 1131-King Corner Suite huge terrace and on the concierge floor.  The Valet staff are wonderful, however there is one bartender who is really awful and un-attentive to anybody under the age of 30 it seems.  I stayed here during Winter Music Conference and it was always a nice escape from the craziness.  Everything is within arms reach at this hotel.  You can even charge cigarettes to your room which was extremely convienent. The prices on food, drinks etc... was not ultra-expensive.  The hot tub actually works and thats always a plus. I'm lovin it.

Average in every way. Rooms were passable. They did accomodate my request for connecting rooms (took the kids). I got there at 4 pm and one room was ready, one was not. The other room was not ready until 6:45. WTF!!!

Several times I had to call guest services and waited 3 to 5 minutes before speaking to someone.

It is very conveniently located.

Bathrooms were exceptionally small.

Service was nice enough - I guess.

I went there for a meeting and I wouldn't go back. Not because it was horrible but because there are so many better places to go on South Beach. Flat face

Although I understand the economy has not been kind to Florida, this hotel left me unimpressed. The staff are fantastic but the rooms are relatively dirty and the location is less than ideal unless you want to spend all of your time on the beach. For the price there are definitely more appetizing alternatives in Miami Beach.

Biggest pet peeve? The towels are ratty which means that they're old and that's really gross.

This is my favorite hotel in the Marriott Catalog of properties.  At the South End of South Beach you cannot get any better.  I have stayed here twice (once for work and once as a long weekend get away)  and both times it was a great experience.  I had a room on the top floor facing the water both times.

Ocean Drive's Restaurant row is only a short walk away.  The concierge lounge is well maintained.

Grab some chairs (for a fee) and sit by the water while servers come out and take your drink order.

Did I mention it is on South Beach?  Not much more to say.

awful - this place is better suited for a 3rd rate beach - and worth 1/3 of the typical rate.  hell, we stayed free and it still felt too pricey.  Yes, it's on the beach, but so what.  you still have to leave your noisy small room, wait on the painfully inadequate elevators, push past all the trash left on the patio and near the pool to get to a bunch of rent-a-chairs.

then return to the room that gets halfway-cleaned by housekeepers that ignore do not disturb signs as if they were mere suggestions rather than requests.

there are SO many other cooler, cheaper, cleaner, nicer properties - find one

Great location.   Waking distance to everything. Horrible pool staff.  This is my third visit/stay at this hotel.  Food is expensive but convenient because you can order at the pool.  I had been to several Marriotts and so far this is the most expensive.  This will probably be my last stay here.  The pool staff turned me off.

This was the first time I stayed in a Marriott hotel and I have to say one of the best hotels yet! I went to miami for my bachlorette party and that night the hotel sent us the bottle of champagne to celebrate! I thought that was extremely thoughtful and generous!

The conciege was extremely helpful and informative!

One down size was I wish they had more elevators! We took the stairs all the time because  the elevators took forever! there are only two elevators and they were always jammed packed!

But other than that it was a great hotel and I work stay again ! A little excercise never hurt anyone! ;)

Amazing, amazing hotel. It's completely underrated. I got married here on April 10th and I was wowed by the hotel. We want to come back and stay here asap. This is truly a classy 5-star hotel. The huge pools are beautiful, the waterfalls, the amazing ocean front views. The bars are pool and ocean front, there are cool cabanas to relax on, there is a bird conservatory. The food in the restaurant is delicious. The staff is amazing! I really can't say enough!

The rooms and beds are SO comfy! The decor is so contemporary and modern. I just love it. The location is perfect and comfortable so that you're a few blocks away from the huge amount of traffic and loud music. A++ South Beach Marriott. You made our day the most amazing. Clean, kind of small, marble detailing in the bathroom. Directly on the beach.

When I stayed there, I walked or taxi'd to 12-17th street, where a lot of the more commercial/social activity is. I liked the buffer, like a separation between peace (the hotel) and chaos (nightlife). No major complaints.

Good deal if you're booking on points.

Let me preface this review by saying I am a VERY good customer of the Marriott hotel chain.   They reward my loyalty by taking VERY good care of me whenever I am at one of their properties, this one being no exception.

The Marriott South Beach is located at the southern end of the "SoBe" area.  The hotel is lovely.  Because of my status with Marriott, everything was exactly the way I like it.  Cheese and wine in the room when I arrived, access to the Concierge Lounge, and a beautiful room that has a balcony overlooking the ocean.

The Concierge Lounge (available to those with a certain Marriott status or you can pay for access) is a great place to grab free breakfast in the morning, soda, water and fruit throughout the day, and appetizers and desserts in the evening.  There is even an honor bar if you'd like a cocktail to go with any of that.

The infinity pool overlooks the amazing beach area so each day your biggest decision is whether to sit out at the pool or in your own private cabana steps away from the Atlantic.  Service is the same at both locations- friendly and attentive.

The fitness center is also top notch and during my stay- was not crowded at all (keep in mind I am writing this during off season)  There are also basic spa services offered such as massages, facials, manicures and pedicures in their spa.

The location of the hotel is great.  You are right on the beach so you can walk endless miles along the coast.  Or you can walk a few blocks to the central South Beach shopping district and restaurant row and have a coffee at one of the many cafes that line the streets in the old Art Deco area.  At night-the clubs are just up the street for all the late night parties anyone could want.

The downsides as I saw them?  The housekeeping staff and the valet.  The housekeeping staff because they always seemed underfoot and should have been less invasive.  Most hotels do their turn down service between 6-8pm while people are out at dinner.  At this place- after 9 (maybe to accommodate the large amount of Europeans in the hotel?).  Also- they forgot twice to replace the bathroom towels at night which was odd since they took the soiled linens away.  As for the valet- even when I called for my car 15 minutes ahead of me needing it- there was always commotion when I showed up as no one ever knew where my car was.  C'mon guys- it's not that hard!

So if a hotel with style, class and elegance without pretension sounds like the spot for you- you should stay at the Marriott South Beach.  Hmm . . .and if I don't get motivated by the end of the week to come home- you just might find me still sitting here at the pool!

Stayed here for a girls getaway this past weekend. Check-in was fine and the rooms were ok. Unfortunately, after our first evening out, we discovered some ants in our room (on the nightstand, tv stand and bed). After notifying the front desk, they moved us 3 times (it was 4:30am)...each room had some issue with it (dirty, only one bed). They finally moved us to a decent room. But I must say that they made up for it. They reduced the rate of the room (a good amount), delivered a bottle of Moet the next morning, AND gave our whole party (there were 12 of us total) 2 cabanas with food and drinks on Sunday.

Would I stay here again? Yes. I hold Marriott to a high standard and this is the only time I've had an issue with them. But the manager went above and beyond to fix the situation.

Also, they have a great breakfast buffet ($23). Proximity to shopping/dining/nightlife is perfect.

Stayed here for a weekend of partying with two good friends. I'll start by saying the housekeeping staff was great...cleaning up our partying before going out to the bars each night--definitely felt like I was reliving some of my college days.

The deck, pool, poolside bar and beach access were great. The rooms weren't the greatest, but they worked. Only thing I didn't like was the location, definitely too far away from the clubs being down on 2nd. Most of the clubs are around 15th, so we had to cab it every night.

Can't wait for the W to open up in south beach, it's supposed to be around 15th street on ocean--the building looks amazing. It's in the right area and it's a W so it will be awesome.

Very nice hotel. the views are nice at night time. I stay at Marriotts often and this one was a bit small compared to the other ones I've stayed in before (nothing wrong with that). The rooms are a bit pricey, but you pay for what you get. The only thing that really annoyed me was paying $10 for a Corona at the bar.

I love this hotel. My first time staying here was my recent trip to Miami and from start to finish, the hotel & its staff were amazing.

The rooms are about standard size & I liked that every room has a balcony. Housekeeping was amazing. Even passing them in the hallway, each member gave us a smile & a warm greeting. We were able to pick a set schedule for our rooms to be cleaned so that every time we got back to our room, everything was nice and tidy.

The concierge desk was always ready to answer questions or provide us with things to make our stay more enjoyable. They brought us up a microwave, helped us figure out the cheapest way to shop, gave me complimentary water when I was dying at 3am & gave us soap for the washing machine.

I used the fitness centre while I was there. I loved that it was 24hr as I like to work out at night when it's less busy. They have 3 elliptical machines, 3 treadmills, 2 bikes, a weight machine, free weights and exercise (stability) balls.

The baggage handlers were awesome. They joked with us, got us taxis when we needed, and pretty much always had us smiling when we left or entered the hotel. Special mention to Vladimir who was so sweet to my friend and I are whole stay (and was pretty nice to look at!)

The food in the Deco Blue restaurant & room service is expensive along with the added 18% gratuity. But there are so many other restaurants near the hotel that we didn't really use them.

Hotel security was also really good. One night, my friend ordered a pizza. Wen it arrived, the concierge called us to confirm we had ordered the pizza then followed him to the room to ensure our safety. With how easy it is to walk in off te beach into the hotel, I felt safe knowing that.

My only 2 qualms were that the pool wasn't heated as advertised and that you can only use the pool from dawn to dusk. It's probably because they don't have a lifeguard on duty but the way the pool was lit up at night, I would've love to go for a late swim.

The hotel even has an aviary attached to it.

I probably couldn't afford the Marriott without the deal I got but I would definitely go back again.

As a platinum member, this marriott gave me all that I expected. Free breakfast on concierges floor, ocean view unobstructed views, amazing service, free wifi, cleanliness, and the location next to a park, gorgeous beach.  Exceptional. If you are not platinum, you will need to pay for wifi and you do not get the free breakfast.

This is a great hotel, prime location on the beach, clean rooms, great bar and restaurant, has a Starbucks right next door.

I removed 1 star, because they charge $15/day for wi-fi and because of the morning noise off Ocean Drive (we had a city view room). Otherwise, we had a great stay at this hotel!

Just got back from the South Beach Marriott and could not have had a better experience.  We received excellent service from everyone we interacted with, the location is perfect,  and the grounds & beach are absolutely stunning!!

First, check in.  It was quick, efficient, and the women were very friendly.  They explained all the hotel had to offer and were just really nice!  The valet guys were also friendly and the bell hop took my bags and he had them in my room not 10 minutes after I checked in.  Impressive, given it was a busy Friday afternoon.  Jennifer C (from guest services) couldn't have been nicer or more helpful too!

Second, the location is perfect.  It's on a quiet end of South Beach, but really close to all the action.  On the beach, you can rent chairs, umbrellas, or a cabana-like tent with a couch.  They provide towels and offer bar service right on the beach.  They were quite attentive - even though we didn't order anything. There are 2 pools and a hot tub also - but we chose to spend our time on the beach.  The water & sand was as close to the Caribbean as I've found in the U.S.!  You're just a few blocks from tons of restaurants, shopping, and bars...and as long as you don't mind walking, you really don't need a car.

As others have mentioned, drinks are expensive - but no more expensive than every other place in So Beach.  As expected, the bar tender was very friendly too.

They are still going through the room renovations, but we weren't bothered at all.  Actually didn't even notice if/when they were working.  The lobby and grounds have already been renovated and are gorgeous.

I'm a loyal Platinum member of Marriott's rewards program and this property lives up to the expectations of a Marriott:
* nice, clean rooms
* excellent, attentive staff
* beautiful grounds

I don't think you'll be disappointed!  And if you are...just look outside:  it's South Beach and you're probably on vacation so enjoy the scenery and have fun!  :)

Let me start by stating that I am a Marriott person (due to my business traveling) so I know every details, tips or tricks of any of those Marriott hotels and brands.
That being said, I was expecting your traditional fairly old, corporate oriented hotel. At the end, they put a great spin in the traditional brand hotel and bring some sobe vibe to the old school American hotel...

Rooms are big enough and nice. The top pros for me was the location facing the ocean (i do mean on the beach) where the pool/hub/restaurant patio was delightful to enjoy. Imagine a sunrise breakfast everyday facing the ocean.....

Anyway, this hotel (like all Marriott) provides you almost all amenities (pool, tub, gym, business needs, restaurant/bar on site, etc...). The gym is fairly small though. I didn't eat at night there but the continental breakfast buffet, as usual, is a hit. If you want something lighter, there is a Starbucks right next door...

Because of its location, you can use one of their private exit to literally be on the beach in 1min. This may not be the most trendy/fancy hotel in sobe but I had a amazing journey there for a price probably much more affordable than a lot of those "buzz" hotel with much more quality services and amenities. Welcome to Marriott...

The staff here are very friendly and helpful.  Wonderful staff!  The rooms are pretty standard; the bed was super comfy.

The bathroom was bit small.  The shower sucked; the water pressure was weak and the nozzle didn't spray water evenly.

The concierge lounge needs to be lot bigger.  There were about 4 or 5 small tables yet at times, there were 20+ people in the lounge.  The hot food went away quick and took a while to get refilled.

The location is bit off from where all the "happenings" are so it's quieter.  It's a short walk so it's still very close to all the action.

Valet parking is $35 plus tax but if you want to be frugal, I saw signs for $10 parking lots near by.

The back hotel gate takes you right to the beach.  The pool is nice but very small.

I love this hotel. This was my second time staying here and wow what service. The rooms are definitely comfortable compared to the small rooms you get on Ocean, and the location is perfect plus beachfront.

The staff was amazing, From Nathan who took great care of me and my girls at the restaurant Deco Blue when he knew we looked dead from too much partying, To Erik the manager at the front who was very polite. I appreciated all the staff there and unfortunately cannot recall everyone's name. Just wanted to say thank you and hopefully we will be there again!

Decent hotel but just average. The pool area was very crowded during our visit last week, and you had to grab pool chairs by 9:30 or they were gone. I was dismayed that they charged $10 for a beach chair and that they rent free to hotel guests. I guess that's what you get in a business hotel.

Rooms were on the small side and service was good but slightly indifferent.

Great weekend stay at this South Beach hotel. Loved the beach!!
Room is modern and clean. Service from the check-in to wait service on the beach was wonderful! Pool area is very nice, but hey you are here for the beach. Beach chairs and umbrella costs extra.

There is a Starbucks adjacent to the hotel. So before hitting the beach, grab some drinks here to take to the beach.
We walked to Joe's Stone Crab take-away which is nearby. I loved that this hotel was away from the loud art deco hotel district area and it was about a 10-15 walk from there.

This hotel is expensive so be prepared to spend $$$ but the awesome beach, modern decor, and quiet location make it worth to stay here.

As a platinum member who stays at a lot of Marriott's for work, I'm somewhat skeptical of Marriott's for vacation.  Like most platinum members though, you can't give up some of the perks and points.

I have to say, this is one of the few times that I have been surprised by the Marriott in a good way.  It wasn't as jammed with families as other Marriott's I have stayed at.  It also seemed much more "international" in clientele than other Marriott's.

I would come back on vacation.

The only thing that keeps it from 5 stars... there are only 2 elevators, and it wasn't uncommon to have to wait for one or two elevators to open and close before you could get on.  They are just jammed full all the time.

Great location but service is hit or miss.

1.  Valet - Great!  Warmly greeted and greeted immediately
2.  Check-in - Horrible.  No one at front counter, when they arrived, started talking to other employee and ignored me.  A third employee arrived and stared at me.  -_-
3.  Housekeeping - Friendly and the room was clean.  Can't ask for much else
4.  Bar - No one ever came to check on the group of three at an outside table.  A wait-person was helping another table outside, but never said hi.  We left.
5.  Management - good!  One manager was passing by and asked if my co-traveller needed help getting the luggage downstairs and then carried it all the way down.

The GM needs to tighten up some of the areas and this would be a great hotel.  Otherwise, it is a "Meh".

We had a lovely stay at the Marriott.  It was quite busy with the starting of the 4th of July weekend.  We asked for 2 doubles, but they were out so they gave us a king and a roll a way.  It was okay with me, bc I wasn't the one sleeping on the roll a way.  The staff was very helpful.  From the front desk, to the ones that got cabs for us and even the cleaning ladies.  We wanted to stay on the beach, so this place was perfect.

The beach was nice and you are able to rent umbrellas, chairs, and beds.  There were people taking orders for food and drinks, but I heard from others that it took them a while to get back with your order.  This is a great beach to people watch.

We ate breakfast at the hotel one morning and it is your typical breakfast food with a steep price.

Loved that they had a Starbucks connected to the hotel!

Walking distance to many restaurants and shops.  It was a long, hot walk to Lincoln Ave,and we learned after the first time to cab it if we needed to go back.  Which we did later in the week.

The cleaning lady was so sweet.  She came in one day to clean and I was still in the room and told her I wasn't feeling well.  I asked her to clean the bathroom and just take out the trash and she did quickly.  The next day, I saw her again, and she asked if I felt any better and if I needed anything.  Of course, we tipped her very well.

I would def stay here again!

I'm extremely upset about my stay at this hotel. I called ahead of time to make sure that we had connecting rooms with our second reservation and that one of the bedrooms had 2 double beds. I called 3 times prior to our arrival. When we get here at 1 pm, they tell me that they could put us in action but it wouldn't be next to the second reservation so we decided to wait. At 4:30 they give us our room and it is has one king size bed. I let them know downstairs and they tell me that it was a misunderstanding. I explained how I had called 3 times to make sure bc it was extremely important to us. They said they could do nothing about it except a roll away bed. I did not come to a hotel to sleep uncomfortably. It was ridiculous.
At the time of checkout, I ask for a late one, they said that I could stay until one or until 3 for $99. So I went ahead and asked if we could just rent for the night. The supervisor tells me that she's sorry that there's nothing she can do bc the hotel is completely booked.

I explain to her how upset I was about my entire experience and that my friends had arrived that day and they didn't have their room ready until 7 pm.

10 minutes after we hang up she calls me to our room and tells us that she can give Us the room at the 195 rate. I was insulted. I had been lied to. I thought the hotel was completely booked. It was unprofessional and just wrong. How did a room miraculously appear out of thin air.

Our friends ended up receiving a fruit basket and a one night free stay. I'm very happy for them but I am completely disappointed and will definitely not be staying here again.

On top of all this, the air conditioner was broken and our party of 11 were all drenched in sweat on the night of 4th of July.

I email a manager and let them know my concerns and all I receive are excuses for their actions and even went ahead and told me that they let us check out at 3 pm when in reality we checked out at 12:30.

Very disappointing. They did offer us 5000 Marriott reward points which was nice but definitely did not compensate what we went through.

South Beach's international crossroads attract the epitome of this world's most beautiful people to Miami's legendary white sands awash in heavenly turquoise blue waters. The South Beach Marriott may not be SoBe's currently most swanky digs but well appointed guest rooms, hotel pool, good service and exceptional beachfront location featuring private hotel entrance on the sand have kept us coming back. Starbucks next door is clutch otw to an early morning MIA departure.

This is a perfect location if you want to be close to the action but not in the middle of it. We could walk everywhere but then go back to the calm of the Marriott at the end of the day. The concierge lounge was great.

The rooms here are not too shabby. We requested an upgrade to a king room with a view and the balcony was an "L" shaped balcony that had a nice view of the city to the right, and the beach to the left. Unfortunately right in front was another big building that made it less appealing. I think the location is fantastic considering it's walking distance to the beach, and Ocean Drive where the life of Miami beach is. Overall the amenities are good, rooms are clean. They also have the Starbucks accessible from the lobby of the hotel (it's located outside on the street, right next to the hotel).

The only thing that bugged me during the stay was the smell of the elevator. I know, random. But, seriously it really smelled. I'm not sure if it's from everyone treading in from the beach in their wet outfits, or from the pool, or what it was. All I know is that it smelled funny every time I went in. I feel like the hotel should know better to clean it more often if it starts smelling from all the foot traffic they are getting from people like us who come back from the beach or pool.

This Marriott is trapped in the 90's. It was probably great back in the day but it feels really dated and it's not the kind of place one wants to vacation. Probably the hardest part for me was the incredibly rude service. This is a category 8 hotel which means that if you are using your Marriott points, it is top of the line. This hotel is NOT by any stretch of the imagination, top of the line. It's one step up from a Holiday Inn. Only reason to stay here is the location, which is in a run down part of South Beach anyways. i would not stay here again. It was not a fun place to be and the service was atrocious. I thought the staff was so rude that I changed hotels after one night.

Clean hotel, beach front, heated pool that looks over the beach.. South Beach, you made my touristy girlfriends and I leave with great memories!

This Marriott is located on Ocean Drive, so all the restaurants, clubs, main attractions were close by. Also, it's in the middle of the art deco district.. where it's along beautiful pastel-colored vintage and modern buildings.

You can pack up your beach gear and walk to the beach, or call the nice valet guys to help you catch a cab for a night out.
It's funny because we were more dependent on the valet guys rather than asking the concierge or looking online. They were spot on and extremely helpful in so many ways:
1. They knew all the popular places (for people our age).
2. They always remembered our names and asked us if we had a good time (maybe it's because being Asian is super rare there).
3. They helped our drunk asses order food for delivery at 3 a.m. We literally hopped into their tiny office and called from their phone, HA.

The hotel has an avery/bird conservatory right outside the hotel? Cool but a bit random.
And if you feel a little tired out from over-relaxation (yes, that exists), there is a Starbucks inside the hotel.

I miss you, Miami!

I love my Marriott hotels, but with so much construction going on, this wasn't the most enjoyable stay I've had.

Everyday at 9:00 am, there was a lot of construction commotion, so at least that got us out of the rooms rather early. The pool area and outdoor bar were both dead at night.
The waitstaff was super friendly and helped anytime something came up.

Starbucks is next door and we were able to use our $10 platinum gift card there.

The breakfast was great, we only "allowed" ourselves the made to order waffles one day and they were so good!

This is in the more quiet area of SoBe, but happy to try it again after the renovations are done.

FYI- the renovated rooms are great! No carpet, but in a beach hotel, we prefer that.

I am a little bit old for all the heavy night life so the location of this hotel was really pleasing to me. I didn't have to deal with all the mayhem that happens at the more centrally located hotels. Just a nice quiet place to relax, enjoy the beach and sample the great restaurants located near the hotel.

Two very nice pools. Beach access. I opted for a room overlooking the water and didn't regret it even though it was really expensive. The staff at this hotel were exceptional. Shaun in reception was EXCEPTIONALLY nice as were all the valets and reception area people.

If you want great nightlife you have to walk a few blocks but if you just want to enjoy yourselves then this is a great spot.

Due to weather/potential flight delays, I had to make a last minute reservation in Miami for one night. I'm glad I ended up at the South Beach Marriott.

Every staff person I encountered was very nice and friendly.

I had a "Meltaway Massage" at the (small) spa, and Andrea did a great job.

I paid an extra $20 when I made my reservation, to include breakfast. My breakfast bill  (for just one person) was over $30, and the extra $20 cost was for two people. So I think the $20 is definitely worth it.

There is a Starbucks connected to the hotel (with direct hotel access), which is also nice.

The beach area is very clean and you can rent a chair/cabana/umbrella. I will say that I was surprised to see a number of women were topless at the beach. Americans simply have more modesty, I suppose.

I paid an extra $14.95/24 hours for High Speed Internet access. Since I needed to download some movies for my flight home, it was worth it.

I would definitely stay here again, when I am back in the South Beach area.

If only I could give it 0 stars.

I am a gold member, and travel for a living- so I stay in a lot of Marriotts.

This is by far the most poorly-managed- and for the money, just gross- Marriotts I've ever been to. I was supposed to stay for 30 days when moving back to the States from overseas, for a relaxing transition. The place was so bad that I actually cut my vacation short just to get out of there. While swimming in the pool, we discovered watery feces. Management said that they would be draining it, but we were out there all night and it was not drained. First thing in the morning, they claimed that it was drained. When pushed, they gave us a lot of attitude and said what they 'meant' was they shocked it. Housekeeping was atrocious. The air conditioner broke for two days- in July, in Miami- and we had to complain several times for them to fix it. Likewise, our door key didn't work, so for over a week housekeeping had to let us in every day, and they gave US some serious attitude about it. After a week, we were fed up with bothering them daily about the malfunctioning door (they kept saying that there couldn't be anything wrong with it) and made a fuss. They finally sent an engineer and, oh, guess what? The door doesn't work and needs new batteries. Because we would lie about such a thing. Eyal the asst manager made every situation seem infinitely worse- he actually followed me around the property after we had a tense talk about our door, the ac, the pool feces, the bad housekeeping... He kept telling me 'we are a boutique property', as an excuse for the shortcomings. Uh no. You're not. You're part of one of the largest hotel chains in the world. So I spent several thousand dollars on the most uncomfortable, stressful 'beach vacation' ever.

BEST EVER! My mother and I recently stayed at the Marriott Stanton South Beach and I have nothing but wonderful things to say. Beautiful hotel with a gorgeous beach with clean sand and clear blue water right off the pool area. Our room and balcony overlooked the beach with stellar views and sunrises. Our room was spacious, modern and impeccably clean--and the shower is really modern, spacious, and refreshing. The area is perfect--not in the middle of loud Ocean Blvd but a short stroll away from so many al fresco dining experiences and nightlife.

Above all, I received the BEST service from hotel staff that I have ever received while staying at a hotel. Everyone was super nice and really made us feel like VIPs, always ensuring we were comfortable and having a fantastic time. The concierge provided great tips and recommendation for the area, and really made us feel at home.

Stayed here for a weekend in October (around Halloween). Really enjoyed it. Modern amenities  (lg flatscreen, rain shower, iPod docking station). The service at the hotel is good - the concierge Seth is fantastic and hooked us up with Liv and Cameo passes as well as great recommendations on food. Note - Prime 112 isn't worth it :) The gym is great with water, towels and headphones and working up to date equipment. The pool is a bit cramped but there is very easy access to the beach. We ordered room service for lunch and had a great Caribbean Cobb salad and a turkey club. Highly recommend both. There are some cons though:
- the entrance to the hotel lobby from the driveway is up stairs so you have to carry your bags up which is silly
- They don't provide complimentary beach chairs for guests. $13 per chair
- The bed is too soft
- The balcony in our room had pools of dirty rain water and cigarette butts on it (514)
- The location is ok - but it's a little outside of the main strip which can also be a good thing

All in all I would definitely stay here again but request a different room.

The pool attendant and server were very attentive and helpful. Only complaints the thermostat in the room wasn't working either too cool or too warm, and no free Wi-Fi  in the rooms ( unless you are a rewards member, we signed up and eventually got it in the room). Pleasantly surprised! We hadn't planned to stay in SoBe but after spending the evening enjoying the action and sites, needed a room and nearly every Marriott in the area was sold out so we ended up at the higher-priced Stanton. It was worth it.

Great, slightly quieter location near the beginning of SoBe made it easy to get to and get checked into but still close to the action. Our room had a great view of the city and a partial view of the beach from the generous balcony. Out king room was stylish and compfy and the bathroom & shower a delight.

Beach access was easy, direct and Marriott has plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The pool is a lovely option although go early as seating is limited.  Robes in the room gave it a resort feel. Front desk staff (saad) was attentive and helpful. All in all we felt it was worth the price.

The Marriott Stanton South Beach is a great hotel. The location is FANTASTIC!  They have a great staff  (notably Natalie - who really really helped us), and a very clean and complete property.  We managed to be very lucky in snagging a corner suite with a wrap-around balcony facing the beach.  It was a spacious suite with a great bathroom (double sink and terrific shower).  It's one of the best rooms (with some of the best views) that I've ever stayed in. Did I mention VERY CLEAN!? :)  I will highly recommend this hotel to anyone going to Miami.   Thank you, Stanton!  I haven't created a review in years, but decided to start again with Stanton!  First class staff all around.

Minus the airport where I've flown through for layovers, my most recent trip was the first time that I've actually ever visited Miami!

This Marriott is located right at the beginning of South Beach (1st & Ocean), three doors away from Nikki Beach, two blocks away from Story and Big Pink, and a $15 cab drive to downtown.

+ Spacious rooms with great views
+ Literally a few steps away from the beach (located behind the hotel)
+ Friendly staff, from the bellhops, concierge, housekeeping, and room service who dealt with our crazy group (especially the bellhops who would hail cabs for us!)
+ For Starbucks addicts, there's a Starbucks attached to the hotel (in addition to a separate entrance outside)
+ It was in a quieter area (unless you kept your windows open, you would be able to hear the music from Story and Nikki Beach) than the rest of South Beach

- The bathrooms were small and they had sliding doors in lieu of actual doors
- You have to pay $10 for a chair on the beach
- Although central South Beach was walking distance, it was farther from most places to go out -- Google Maps is your friend in determining whether you need a cab or not

For my first stay in Miami, the Marriott was a great choice for us!

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights on our most recent vacation to Miami.  This is a high end Marriott property located between 1st and 2nd street on Ocean Dr.  I really can't say enough good things about this hotel  First off, it is right on the beach.  You walk out the back door, past the bar and pool area, and you are on the beach in just a couple hundred feet.  I really like the location of this hotel, mainly because it's in a quiet area of South Beach.  It's quiet, yet you're just a short walk away from all of the action.  I've stayed at other hotels on Ocean Dr in South Beach, in my younger days, and remember it being difficult to get a good night's sleep.  That is not the case at this hotel.  You won't have any trouble sleeping.

The hotel is kept up very well, as it just recently went through some renovations.  We had a very modern room, which had a nice balcony that overlooked the beach, and also gave us a city view of downtown Miami, as well as the port where all of the cruise ships depart.  Now, I will say that I stayed here on points.  Due to all of the travels with my job, I earned enough for a free stay.  This place certainly isn't cheap ($350/night) if you have to pay to stay here.  You also have to pay to valet park a car here ($37/day), which isn't cheap.  With all of that said, these are pretty much standard prices for South Beach.  Most everything is expensive.

It does have 2 small pools, along with a hot tub in between the pools.  The pool area is nice, it just isn't huge.  We did have a day where no chairs were available at the pool.  Oh darn, I guess we'll just go lay on the beach. :)  This hotel has an on site spa and fitness center.  The fitness center is just fine, and it's free for guests.  The spa offers massage services for a cost.  I didn't use the spa, nor did my wife.  They also have a restaurant and bar on site.  We didn't eat here, but did have a few drinks.  Drinks are standard South Beach prices.

Overall, this is a great hotel from top to bottom.  I would highly recommend this Marriott to anyone considering business or a vacation in South Beach.

Great hotel and facility.  The only real issue was they are doing renovations which made part of the experience not 5 stars.  Staff very attentive and would stay at this hotel again.

Great hotel. The room was cute and very clean. The room service was great, very friendly staff! It was right on the beach. The balcony in our room was super tiny and the ice machine on our floor wasn't working but they brought us up ice whenever we asked. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk or a $7 cab ride from the popping part of the strip. I would stay again.

One of our best experience!!! My boyfriend and I stayed for four days and it was the most amazing four days of our lives, starting from their room service to checking out. Everyone was so nice and helpful. I've been in south beach Miami plenty of times and I can say this was our best stay!!! HANDS DOWN! It's only 5min walk to the hot spots of SB. And Story nightclub as well as Nikki beach are only a block away. We will def be back! If you're looking for a great stay, ocean view? Stay at the Marriott Stanton.

Just rented 3 chairs for $40 that came with NO towels ! Had to lay on some gross cushions ...shame ! Have been coming here for a year every other Sunday . Seriously, hotel can't afford to have laundry ready by noon on Mother's Day ? Will be renting chairs at the Bentley Hotel from here on.

Great location on the southern end of South Beach. It's just a short walk from the busy section of Ocean Drive. Great pool area, although kind of small. Great beach area and beach service. The lobby's somewhat awkward, small, and not reflective of any kind of upscale hotel/resort. Our room was great though. We had an ocean view and loved it. Comfortable bed, great shower with modern fixtures. We were very happy with our stay here.

Well I don't know what to say but this is my hotel now. I come down about every 2 or 3 months for a weekend and I have found my perfect home. This place is not to far from anything everything is walking distance and if need be you can get a cab. The rooms big nothing to complain about. The rain shower just made me not want to get out the shower. The pool was ver nice. Easy access to the beach. The staff was very helpful and the all dressed like they love being at work unlike other places I stayed. I think the only thing I didn't like was from the valet you had to walk up stairs to check in. I'm sure there was a elevator I didn't see. Oh yea and the bar was very nice.

If you want something off the beat and path and craziness of South Beach this is your hotel! They are currently going through some remodeling however it's quite awesome. Duel Pool is quiet and service is fantastic. I will certainly come again, especially if the Miami Dolphins team are there again.

The two stars are for the location , the view and the great service by the towel girl and the server by the pool.
The room was not cleaned well. Lipstick stains and old blood spatter was found in the room but housekeeping was very responsive about the cleaning issues.
The real turn off was the lack of food and poor service in the concierge lounge. They start closing down at least 30 minutes prior to the time they have posted and they don't replenish the food during service times. In my experience the lesser expensive properties such as the residence inn , have much better service and offerings for breakfast and more attentive housekeepers.

Nice hotel.  Great location in the heart of South Beach and next to the beach.  Decent ammenities for Marriott guests with status.  We had a room facing the north which was definitely quieter (i.e. did not face the street or any construction)

The room was normal size with a terrace which was fine with me because that meant the air-conditioning worked great!  Bathroom was nice -- good rainshower.  Internet was free for us and worked perfectly.  They have a private breakfast area on the top floor for Marriot Platinum members.  We met up with some very nice guests there.

The main restaurant and bar were fair to good.  The pool area is pretty as well.  Attached Startbucks and falvored water in the lobby were added plusses.

The one downside I notice were some small ants in the room.  I lived in Miami for 5 years and would see these around too.  They can't be controlled so I don't blame the hotel on this.  The room was spotless each day.

Check in and check out were a breeze and the hotel staff were genuinely friendly.

Great Location! Literally a 5min. Walk to the hopping area of south beach..wet willies mangos news cafe so on. Private beach area with umbrella chairs for rental each day. Gorgeous beach view with a balcony high floor room. Clean, great customer service. Delicious fruit flavored water added personality as you checked in..

Nice bar inside, met a great fun bartender who helped us with what to see and where to visit.

Pool was great, large and not overly packed..same with jacuzzi.
Nice cozy lounge area with comfy seats and fire pit for romance.

A bit pricey per night as were the pina coladas pool side $15 each but well worth it!

If you have the $$ then stay here!
