I have stayed at the Sagamore three separate times so far, the latest experience was for a week in March 2007.  And this is by far my favorite hotel in Miami to date.  This is a small privately owned hotel, not a hotel chain... and it shows.  If you like cool, sophisticated settings, a great display of modern and contemporary art, attentive, polite service and large, clean dust free rooms, then this is your hotel in South Beach.  I stayed in one of their two level Ocean Villas, that comes complete with a living room and a kitchenette, and after a day or so I felt like I was totally at home.  Unlike any other hotel I've ever stayed in the Sagamore prides itself on the cleanliness of its rooms, using flooring and fabrics that actually repel dirt and dust.  So if you are someone who insists on your hotel room being clean like me... then you will love the Sagamore.   The hotel doesn't have a gym though, but they have an arrangement with the Delano next door so you can use theirs for $20.00 a visit.  The Sagamore also has an amazing restaurant named Social.  Try the Kobe Beef Sliders if you like burgers, and the Friday night party there is THE place to be in South Beach.

just for the bar scene: fri and sat are crowded. dress up, because it's quite a scene, but kinda what you expect from these hotel bars (think expensive, small drinks).  for some reason, when we went there were so many cheesy, short men.  kudos on the music!

The worst place I've stayed at by far!!!!!!!Our room was broken into and our stuff was stolen, wallets, cash, jewelry, ipod and HORRIBLE service from staff. We paid for a Penthouse suite to get SHITTY  service and no security.

I was lucky enough to stay at the Sagamore last July with a bunch of my close friends.  I love Miami to begin with so I'm smiling to myself as I write this review.  The hotel consists of bungalows and suites.  You may think they are overpriced but when you break it down between a few people it's not so bad.  Plus, I always feel I'd rather pay more and get better quality than save a few bucks and stay in a dump!!  I've never stayed this far up South beach so it was nice for me to check out this area.  It's close to The Delano and lots of restaurants and shops.  The staff was great, and in typical Miami fashion, they were gorgeous.  I'm not an artsy person but it did give the Sagamore it's appeal.  The Sagamore is located right on the beach (damn when is winter in NYC going to end), which is great, but I really enjoyed my time by the pool.  Everyone was friendly, no matter color or creed or whatever!!  I'd definitely like to stay at the Sagamore again.

I just touched down back home in Detroit after a quick 2 night stay at the Sagamore.  Normally I wouldn't rush to Yelp a place like this but I must say, The Sagamore exceeded my expectations from beginning to end.  To start, my room wasn't quite ready when I arrived but Lucretia at the front desk treated me like a dignitary and upgraded me!  She was one of the best customer service people I have ever dealt with and that is no joke!!  The guys at the pool are fantastic also...whatever you need.  Room was super clean, hallways, loby everything was very clean.  Next time in Miami I WILL be staying at the Sagamore...

Bar scene - very swanky and fun.  Drinks super overprices.  We paid something like $18 for an absolut and soda and were all thanking the sweet heavens we knew we were too drunk to appreciate Grey Goose or Kettel One.  The outside area is really cool - very Zen like with fountains and little rock gardens around the sidewalks -- and yet very clubby at the same time.  Good music, no dancing.  Cool to come and see the bar/outside area but don't plan on staying here for the night.  We got there pretty late (around 2:00 a.m.) and a lot of people were having a drink there before heading to an actual club.

Every time I come to Miami, I try and stay at the Sagamore.  Great location (walking distance to most of the clubs, shopping, dining), trendy, hip, beautiful decor. I love the clean white decor, the beautiful rooms and the happening scene at night.

The entire hotel is made up of ALL suites and bungalows, so the rooms are all very spacious and often triple the size of most hotel rooms.  You can get a 900sf bungalow vs. a 350sf room at the delano for the same price, if not cheaper.   Also, I liked the suites better than the bungalow....thought it was a bit annoying to walk up and down the spiral staircase to get from the living room to the bedroom.  The Sagamore is right on the beach, so you can choose to lay out by the pool or get some chairs on the beach.

Just stayed here last weekend with some girlfriends and loved every minute of it!  We indulged the sun's rays by the pool side...and watched Lance Bass hanging out with some bosomed lady. Nice.  I love Miami!

This hotel gets three stars based on the lobby and the pool/lounge area alone. To me it's a little pretentious, in terms of price, the staff, and the crowd that stays here, and I enjoyed staying in other hotels more. The room was nice, but the bed was a little uncomfortable. The weekend I went a couple of rappers were there as well, so the place was overrun with groupies. The most annoying part is that the hotel's location is so far from everything! I mean I figured it was far, and bc of this it wasn't my choice to stay here. Clubs, restaurants, etc are a bitch to get to on foot. Lincoln Road is close though, and so is Jerry's Deli for breakfast/lunch. If you're clubbing though, take a cab!

This place is insane during Memorial Day Weekend where all the hip hop crowd goes to party in South Beach. I was gate crashing or hotel-hopping, if you want to be polite about it, different venues and I saw Russell Simmons pull up in a shiny black SUV, almost unrecognizable...till I saw like the 20 sets of Louis Vuitton luggage with him (no Kimora in sight). This was back a few years ago, but I still remember feelin' a lil' star struck at that. And yes, this place is very sleek, bring your best appearance at this venue.
Reality show tipoff: P.Diddy had his Making the Band 3 girls (Dannity Kane, girl band) stay at this venue when they were taped in Miami Beach.

I absolutely loved the Sagamore!  My sorority sisters and I recently spent the weekend and both the accommodations and service were amazing.  I recommend the 2 bedroom suite...it was spacious and uber chic, not to mention awesome full length mirrors.  And OMG, the location was perfect!  The service was impeccable...namely the chief concierge, Christian.  His recommendations were spot on and he personally saw to it that our party was well taken care of throughout our stay.

I am not going to repeat the same elements of luxury and opulence already mentioned in previous reviews, but will simply add Sagamore, Delano, or Setai are the most upscale hotels in Miami/SoBe...PERIOD.

Sagamore achieves perfection in Miami South Beach vacationing venues. The beach side cabanas in the back of the hotel each offer 42" plasmas, comfy over-sized sofas to lounge in, and makes for the perfect place to catch the cool Atlantic Ocean breeze while star gazing (the night sky AND the kind sitting in the cabana next to yours) and sipping on your bottle of champagne on ice.

If you can, make sure to get a lower-level beachfront room. They are the most requested, and for reason- They are larger than the standard rooms, have multiple floors,  and  that open right onto the cabanas and beach giving you direct access to the beach 24/7. Trust me...you'll thank me later!

Oh, and during your stay be sure to check out Miami Social. This is the club/restaurant inside the hotel. Hotel guests usually have free access to this area, and even have separate curbside express entry into this  club. So no hefty covers to pay at the door or waiting in the long lines with the general public. (Read my review on Social Miami for info, but I will say...drinks are a bit pricier than most other upscale Miami clubs...but well made, the food is excellent and portions are generous, and the women are absolutely GORGEOUS and outnumber men 2:1 to 5:1, depending on the night..

I'm sorry, not a 1 star reviewer BUT...The absolute worst hotel I"ve ever stayed in, in Miami or any.  Service was piss poor,  Rooms were dirty.  Bartender by the pool took a sip out of someone's drink prior to serving it. Yes we did see that!  You have so many better choices for the same or less money.  I would not recommend spending your hard earned dollars there.

We were fortunate enough to go over President's weekend/Valentines Day weekend for my friend's Bachlorette Party.....they messed up our rooms and we had one room and then the Penthouse....the only thing bad was it was not hot or sunny, so we could not hang out on the AMAZING deck!  Great staff and wonderful hotel!  Small pool!

This hotel fits well with the eating establishments just down the street (the one's that hawk their menu to passing pedestrians).  The issues with this hotel were many, so let us start with check-in... On making reservations three months prior, we specified a room with an ocean view. On the day we made the reservation we were adamant in specifying a room with an ocean view.  As a matter of fact, this was the only room selection criteria we specified.  We made no constraints as to size, floor, nor price.  The only specification was the room have an ocean view...and they agreed. On arrival we were ushered into a room facing the wall of the adjacent hotel. This would not do. In subsequent negotiations we stuck to our guns. It was only after much acrimony, and enduring their indifference, regarding our accompanying documents, we got the room we had paid for.

It was shortly thereafter we learned the details of the "Sagamore Plan". If you would like to use the WiFi internet service it will cost you $36 (for a two-guest room) per day. This will also get you two rusty beach chairs (didn't want), a buffet breakfast (cold greasy bacon I could not swallow), and use of the fitness center (which was closed).

Then there is the service staff.  The bar tender at the pool lounge was quite interested in several of his female colleagues. So much so that it was difficult to get his attention long enough to order drinks.

We have vacationed in Miami Beach several times prior to this visit.  With all of the other top-drawer establishment arrayed on the very same street, staying at this hotel was a mistake I will not be making again.

I am in amazement of the high star yelp rating of the Sagamore hotel - it really makes me doubt my yelp counterparts on this hotel. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again, nor recommend it to anyone.  I have debated between a 2 star rating and 1 star rating - and have finally settled on a 2 star, only because given the location, we probably got what we paid for (and that wasn't cheap {$300/night inc/tax}). Then, I just couldn't do it. It's a 1 star - they really pissed me off at the end regarding the way they responded to some issue I had with the bill.

Originally, when booking the reservation, the reservation agent was very helpful and persuasive about their hotel.  His comments included claims that the hotel was a 4 star, and that their "art" hotel offered rooms that were very spacious.  Needless to say, my expectations were set high.

Needless to say, I found so many things about our stay soooooo irritating, that it brought the evil out of me.  That's usually a bad sign.

    Minus
*service is touch and go - sometimes its good, and other times it can't be found.  Also, its feels kind of like one person does everything.  One day they are your pool service person, the next day your maid.
*penthouse elevator - small and slow, and out of service for a day during our stay
*Bed -  though upgraded to a 6th floor suite, it was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on in a hotel at this level and even below.  It was so awful; I had to sleep on the faux leather, hard, "couch" in the living room area for most of the nights I was there.
    *Questionable cleanliness
*Gym - forget it - it's not a gym and it is in a non - air conditioned dungeon, with about 3 machines.
*General - Suite layout attracts a lot of families with kids.  So there are a lot of noisy children at the pool, which can get annoying.
*Comfort:  this is not a comfortable / relaxing hotel - it is much more of party hotel. Nothing about the furniture is inviting or comfortable, so that makes the fact that the bed was incredibly uncomfortable even a bigger bummer.
*Most rooms don't have a balcony - which is a bummer when you want to dry out your wet bathing suits after a day at the beach. Or just sit outside with some privacy.
*Safe - ours did not work and couldn't be fixed

    Plus & Minus
*Restaurant:  food is actually decent, but dinner portions were small and very overpriced.  I think there was a charge of $33 for a lobster/prawn dish, that contained  of the portion of lobster and prawns you would expect for that price.
*Sagamore plan ($10/person/day) - includes chairs/towels on beach, but they charge $15 for an umbrella, and as with our case, they may not explain that to you, until you see a charge on your bill.  And if it rains that day once and even after it stops raining, they may close and decide not to reopen on the beach (or the pool, or the bar), and you will not be able to get a chair or pool service - but you WILL be charged anyway.  The plan also includes continental breakfast, which is a limited choice of fatty pastries (must admit that the chocolate croissants are good), sub par coffee, no fruit, no yogurt, and really looses its appeal after day 2. The breakfast was a real let-down. The plan also includes internet, but that seems to be free anyway.
*We had a mixture of linens (because we had some extra pillows) - some of the sheets were super soft, but some of them were that polyester crap. You need to request feather pillows or you will get that yucky, thick, fake pillow.
*Pool -  small and never exceeds 5 feet depth - it is warmed to a nice temperature though.

    Plus
*location, location, location - right next to the Ritz, Lowes, and Delano, and directly across the walkway from the public beach.
*refrigerator in the room (with Walgreens just around the block, you can pick up water and other food, so you don't need to fall victim to the mini bar choices)
    *ipod docking stations with speakers

But - really this place sucks a smelly man's big toe.   It's worth the cash to stay elsewhere on the strip.

I love the clean white ambience and decor of this place.  It's so modern and beautiful.  I've never stayed here but I always go for the great scene at night in the back outside with the big bar, great music.

It's one upscale hotel - worth the stay. Right up there with the Delano and Setai.

This hotel is great!!! My girls and I recently visited for my bachelorette weekend and the customer service is EXCELLENT!! we were greeted with smiles the minute we pulled in to the last day we left. The front desk is super accommodating and the cabana service is 2 thumbs up!! Whether we chose to lounge by the pool or on the beach we were well taken care of. Rooms are spacious, suites with Kitchenettes, art deco, hotel is on the beach and breakfast, beach chairs and wifi access  less than $15/day!Centrally located in South Beach, we never went more than 2 miles away to find good food, shopping, clubs and entertainment. This is our 3rd time in South Beach over the summer and this by far has been the best hotel stay!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

While one shouldn't expect the same level of luxury as a mainland resort, our stay at the Sagamore was everything we were looking for out of a south beach hotel. "The Art Hotel" is decorated wildly with contemporary art throughout the lobby, rooms, stairwells, and even room keys setting a relaxed, anything-but-up-tight atmosphere that permeates the facility as well as its guests. It's an all suite hotel, and we were thrilled with our spacious abodes with the "Sagamore suite" designation, which were all Apple-like at twice the space and half the price of the nearby Delano and Ritz.

Service was friendly and responsive from valet, front desk, restaurant, and beach-side. The rooms are well appointed with nice linens, giant sectional sleeper sofas, relatively new TV's, pimpin' iPod docking speaker systems, kitchens, and fast wifi. The only thing we found lacking was the tiny gym, but I'd personally rather run on the beach any day, anyway.

Ambiance - very well decorated. I love the ambiance.

The food was fantastic -- however, our main course arrived before our appetizers. (Are we in France?)

The service and staff - next to a joke. I brought high profile clients who own 4-5 star hotels and restaurants internationally and regret doing it. We took up 2 tables with a total of 10 guests. It took the server an hour to bring one bottle of wine...and another hour to bring the other one. (yes, 10 people means we are going to order and taste the menu)..it took longer for our food to come too. (the time was around 10:30pm--not crowded at all)..and in the wrong order to boot. Isn't it suppose to be appetizers then main course?

While we were eating, one side of the table collapsed on top of my clients and spilled foor all over them. A few minutes later, the other table collapsed, the wine bottle broke on the table and my client was cut trying to get out of the way. They turned around and said to me: your friend suggested this place? Your friend has poor judgement in fine dining.

Needless to say, I wanted to crawl in a hole and stay there the remaining part of the night. We left after we ate and jetted next door and continued the night..at least we got our bottle service less than 10 minutes.

I love the location, I love the decors..the management and staff needs a hospitality spring cleaning. I was so dissappointed with the hospitality service.

My clients and I don't mind spending money if the service is on point -- but on scale of 1-5. I give the service 2.

This is a semi art-deco hotel that just missed the mark for me. I like the trendy atmosphere and minimalist approach but the service is really sub-par for the price. At $300 a night , you're really only paying for a nice pool and beach front property. Most rooms don't have a view and the cleanliness is questionable because for 3 nights, housekeeping did not even stop by on one of the night. There's only two elevators at opposite ends of the hotel and one worked for our entire stay. I'd rate this a 3 star hotel for the spacious room but don't expect 4 star service like Omni or Hilton.

I completely agree with Janelle .. while the hotel has a nice pool/bar area and somewhat friendly staff I felt the $385 price tag for our room was a bit high.

We stayed in a "luxury suite" which had a bedroom upstairs and a sofa bed downstairs. And while the room did have 2 larger balconies I do not feel it was worth my money. The sofa bed was terribly uncomfortable and the "luxury" spa products in our bathroom were far from luxurious not to mention the horribly scratchy towels. Not to mention that our door refused to stay shut unless we had it dead bolted. Also odd that the room has a pseudo stove but now pots or pans to cook.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating and since we went during the "off season" it was very quite during the day and most of the evening. During peak season the hotel hosts numerous pool parties and had a busier bar.

Friday night they had a decent DJ playing Hip-Hop and a attractive crowd gathered by the pool. And while I know Miami is pricey it still urks me that they charge $18 per drink! And they serve the drink in a plastic cup!!

Overall I enjoyed most of my stay, the art work in the lobby is interesting, the location is great ( right across from the beach) and the staff is friendly. However, next time I am going with a cheaper hotel.

I chose this hotel after reading the reviews here on Yelp. I was so excited, and unfortunately, so disappointed. The good: great location, right on the beach, big rooms, lots of wonderful art. (these things are why I gave it 3 stars and not 2) The bad: dirty, beat up, unfriendly, unhelpful, and terrible beds. They need to refurbish. Everything is worn and ratty.  Customer service is the most important thing to me at a hotel, this place was sorely lacking in this area. I would not recommend this hotel unless you're looking for a place to party and you don't care about customer service or cleanliness.

I've only been here a hand full of times, but the Sagamore always seems to get better with every visit.  I was here most recently for a martini party and had a great night - as did everyone else I was with.  The Sagamore, attracts a good mix of intelligent people and scares away the timid.

I love the funky, almost trendy art work throughout.  Easy place to keep a conversation going.

And although it takes a few drinks till you consider exploring the grounds of a hotel where you are not a guest, I highly suggest ending your visit to Social in the back - next to the pool where there is a nice bar that is never too busy and the breeze from the ocean is obvious.

Can you tell I like this place?

ALWAYS RECOMMENDED, ALWAYS A GOOD TIME.

This review is long overdue and comes after a 4th annual spring break trip with my boys and 4th consecutive stay at the Sagamore Hotel in South Miami Beach.  I remember the very first year traveling alone with three young boys wanting the experience of South Beach, along with class and quiet appropriate for young ones.  At the Sagamore, I must say I got all that and more and was so pleasantly surprised.
From being greeted and welcomed by the valet and bell staff, to the service and professionalism at the front desk check-in, I can only hope the rooms were just the same and they didn't disappoint.  We arrived to a clean, neat and well sized suite that suited the four of us comfortably.   Within 30 minutes of entering the room,  unexpectedly, a plate of cookies and a card wishing my son a Happy Birthday from the staff was delivered to our room.   The lobby, very cool art displays, and general atmosphere at this hotel is relaxing, to say the least.
The rest of our trip was experienced much the same:  Extremely friendly and accommodating staff who were so in tune with our needs throughout the stay.  Beautiful grounds, clean pool, superb service at pool bar, as well as pool/beach area staff that were so efficient at making sure we had clean towels and lounge chair set up at all times.  The privacy and calm of the grounds were so refreshing that it drew couples and families alike.  The food was among the best and freshest on the beach.  I must admit, many times we could've eaten at any place on the strip, but chose to stay at our hotel to eat.
One last experience that summarizes the professionalism, compassion, and care the staff brings to their daily duties was the night we came in late with my youngest  asleep in the car, and without hesitation, Delroy (bell staff) carried my son up to the room.  There was no need that the hotel did not anticipate and/or accommodate for their guests and that deserves to be commended.
All the staff at the Sagamore Hotel is highly professional and extremely courteous, however there were some that stood out to my family personally and I would like to mention their names:  Morgane, Miki, Felipe, Gabriel, Gregory, Pablo, Delroy, and Manny.  A special thank you from the bottom of our heart for making our stay another amazing one at the Sagamore.  Until next year.....

Imagine my surprise on Day 2 of our stay at the Sagamore, when the dear sis went on Trip Advisor and saw multiple exclamations of "do NOT get Suite 518."

Waaait a sec! That's OUR suite number!

So, what you're saying is that showers in other suites work? Crayon isn't scribbled all over other L-shaped couches with pullout beds? The art deco style is more noticeable in rooms that don't look like someones mammy was butchered there and stuffed in the closet for weeks?

After calling down to the front desk, the staff member was nice enough to bump us up from the Sagamore Suite to the King Suite for no charge. King beds in both rooms, a bar in the kitchen, gigantic flat screen TV, and a shower that worked? This was our kind of swanky. If only because the price tag during peak season goes for a whopping $1200/night.

Heated pool with attentive cabana boys. Close beach access where you can lounge on puffy white chairs for $10/day. Awesome lounge downstairs to nurse your $18 cocktails and walk around gazing at art. 4 Stars because it's amazing, minus a star because they gave us a janky suite first.

Plus, if you get back to the hotel at 6am and want to take a drunken dip in the pool with your clothes on, staff members will walk by and not say a word. Hypothetically, of course.

I organized a business meeting at the Sagamore that coincided with a convention at the South Beach Convention Center.

The Sagamore is a super hip hotel and makes a great impression.  Service was fantastic and food was excellent.  We used the "Film Room" which is an intimate space, perfect for our meeting, but could have been expanded to 15 attendees if needed.

Highly recommend.  Heather, our coordinator was very responsive and made it easy on us, especially as we were coming in from out of town.

I was extremely disappointed by this hotel. The worst part is definitely the service, I just went to the hotel bar, the bartender (Pedro) asked what I wanted, I said ice water, and he told me to ask someone else because he was "a little busy here." if he was so busy, why would he ask me what I wanted??!

The décor is nice, but it's pretty run-down. The hotel uses a lot of white, but most everything is a little dirty. A "clean" pool towel had a fist-sized orange stain on it. The couch cushions were tinged with dirt stains. Anyway, if they aren't going to do a good job with cleaning / maintenance, they should not use so much white.

We also ate breakfast there. My spinach omelet was quite good, until I got to the egg shell that was mixed in.

Only good things about the hotel is the art and the location. For this area though, the Shore Club is much nicer. Better pool, clean, friendly service, free beach chairs. It's just more expensive.

My boyfriend and I just returned from a trip to Miami and we were both really impressed with the Sagamore.  We are really well-traveled and have stayed in hotels all over the world. We feel that the Sagamore is not only a really hip and unique hotel but it offers all of the wonderful amenities you would expect from an upscale hotel.  We particularly loved the pool attendant that catered to our every need, including getting me an umbrella when the sun got too hot! The location is also really great and right in the middle of everything you could possibly want to visit in South Beach. Highly recommend!

Stayed here for a long weekend a couple weeks back and thought it was a great base for our sobe adventure. There is not much going on in the hotel, no hot bar or restaurant but a they are all close by and do you really want to hear house music thumping 24/7? We'll you will anyway, the Delano is 2 doors down. Staff is great, bed is nice and pool and beach were uncrowded and relaxing.

I can't believe I haven't written a review on the Sagamore yet. It is my favorite on South Beach - and yes I've stayed up and down Collins for years!

Everything is great about it, from the art collection to the comfy beds in their stylish rooms. Best best best and best!

Wow.  My company really knows how to treat us right.  Stayed here recently for a work conference and I couldn't be more impressed.  Everything was big and beautiful and clean.  And if you've read any of my other reviews of hotels I've stayed at, that says A LOT.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone going on a visit to Miami.  I wish I had some pictures to post so you could see what I saw.  But definitely visit their website, you won't be misled.

Who needs to go to a museum when you can just come here to view the lovely art? Staff is super friendly and hospitable. Concierge is friendly and helpful even at 2 in the morning to direct you where to go eat. I really enjoyed staying here. There's art everywhere. The hallways, the stairwells, your room, it's so beautiful and refreshing!

Awesome hotel with wonderful staff.  Everyone we met was friendly and they remembered our names and greeted us by name.  Beach service was WONDERFUL.  The concierge was the best I've ever dealt with.  Don't pay for the breakfast plan thingy, there's a cute cafe next door with cheap and yummy breakfast.

WOW!  If I could go back tomorrow, I would!

This hotel is in a fantastic spot right on the beach. Sipping on mango ice teas served up by cabana boys while sunbathing at the pool sounds really good right now. Or walking a few steps to the beach could work too.

Just returned from my Bachelorette weekend in Miami!  Myself and 7 other ladies stayed in two Sagamore suites and all of us agreed that we LOVED this hotel.

    The highlights:
--Excellent location: next to Delano, directly on the beach, walk to Lincoln shopping, very short cab ride to LIV and other clubs
--Gorgeous beach with the most comfortable chairs ever for only $10 and Guy the cabana boy will set up your chair while another pool staff member brings you a pina colada.
--The Art!  So much fun and all over the hotel
--The size of the rooms.  We were able to throw a full scale Bachelorette party in one of our rooms before going to the club.  For the price, you really get a full suite experience.
--The cleaning staff is fantastic.  We felt guilty over how messy we were but every time we returned to the rooms, they were immaculate.
--The staff, concierge, bartenders, etc were all very accomodating
--The room service french fries.  Trust me.

    The (few) cons:
--Price of drinks at the pool bar.
--The pool chairs fill up very early in the day which means that if you were out raging the night before and don't roll out to the pool until 11am, you are not getting a seat.
--This hotel doesn't really have its own happening bar or restaurant

When we go back to South Beach, we would most certainly stay at The Sagamore again!

After searching for a beautiful hotel in South Beach I was really looking forward to staying in the Sagamore Hotel.  We arrived very late at night. When we walked into our room I was shocked.  The light colored ceramic tile floor and grout were very dirty throughout the entire one bedroom suite .   Some of the tiles were chipped.   I've never seen anything in this condition - it was gross.   I had paid in advance for the room, so I couldn't just leave.  Plus, who wants to go find a hotel late on a Friday night?  I didn't even want to go through trying to find a better room at the hotel.  This couldn't be the only room in the hotel that looked like this.  The counter top in the kitchen area was made of small ceramic tiles with grout that also looked bad.  I really should have read reviews on Yelp better because some other people do mention that the rooms are not in great condition.  There are some pictures on Yelp that show counter tops that are newer and in better condition, and some rooms have carpeting so there is not this tile issue.  But, if you get a room with this tile, you will not be happy!

The hotel is in a great location, the exterior and the lobby are cool, all of the staff we encountered were very nice.  The suites are big, but there is no view. The rooms should be in better condition.  I would not expect a floor to look like this in a hotel that is a third of the price, which they do have them in sobe.

I would not stay here again.

My expectations for Miami were met at the Sagamore Hotel. I love that the whole hotel (including the room) was ALL white. It just gives the clean, classy,  contemporary ambience I expected with Miami. The beds were crazy comfortable and the pullout couches made it easy to fit 7 people. We were literally off the beach and walking distance to great shops and dining. Not a bad cab ride to the bars/clubs and the service was wonderful. When we get a chance to come back out, I would stay here again.

I love this hotel! As a miami native who now lives in Houston, this is my home when I come home! Only reason I did not give it five stars is because I wish the hotel's restaurant was a little better. (Being that it is two doors down from Delano which has the amazing Bianca! Sagamore- time to step it up!)   Rooms are awesome, have stayed in both king suites and bungalows in back, both were great! The front door men always remember our names! Beautiful pool, art, and overall stay is fantastic! Pool drinks are pricey, but they are perfectly made!

Stayed here for a Bachlorette party with 13 girls.

Location was perfect walking distance to Lincoln Shopping, CVS and Walgreens.

Nightclubs were all less than $10 cab rides away including Mansion, LIV and bar hopping on Lincoln was walking distance.

Pool Guy was always disappearing!  Whenever we needed a towel I'd have to get it myself. Not very attentive. Drinks at the pool were EXPENSIVE ($15 Bloody Mary). Pool is small but nice. You can walk out of the pool area and directly outside is the beach! Perfect location.

    LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!

Beds were super comfy (not sure why other yelpers complained).

Hotel is fairly quiet. Not a party hotel but perfect for a home away from home.

Richard with the concierge was very helpful too. Make sure to ask him for advice on what to do. He'll steer you in the right direction.

Awesome hotel! I was in town with family and my girlfriend for just 1 night, and a Tuesday at that. I actually found this place through the Hotel Tonight app on Android. They had 3 hotel options in South Beach, this was the most expensive, but had the best reviews on Yelp. I called to make sure they can give us a room with 2 beds and they took care of us from there.

One hour after making the reservation we were there checking in. We actually were there about 2 hours early and they were still able to get a room for us on the spot. Here comes the breakdown....

    The Room:
Amazing. An all white retro styled room with a large bathroom, bedroom, living room and decent sized kitchenette.  Our room faced the opposite of the beach so we had a nice city view. I never even noticed any noise from below aside from when we opened the windows.

The couch doubles as a pull out sofa as well so we were able to fit everyone comfortably in the room. There was also a large TV in the living room on a desk so we were able to catch some of the NBA finals before heading out.

    The Hotel:
They state it themselves, this is known as the museum hotel. There is unique artwork all over the property. I wish I had more time here so I could walk around and look at a few things besides seeing it in passing. Everything was white which gave it a pretty cool vibe. On the way to the beach you pass by the pool which looked nice, but with the clear South Beach waters beaconing us we passed through.

Another reason why we chose this was the location. Aside being walking distance from shopping, eating the beach, it was less than a $10 cab ride to the nightlife. We walked out and in seconds flagged down a taxi van that whisked us away.

    The Staff:
I'm still not accustomed to staying at a full service hotel so it was nice having someone bring the bags up for us, especially since we all had so many loose items. The front desk was great from setting up the reservation to checking out. Just about any interaction with the staff was great. One member of our party had a snafu with valet but they took care of that too.

If the price is right we'll stay here next time we're in South Beach (and after this trip, there WILL be a next time). It would be fun to experience a different hotel though since everything here has so much character.

Upgraded at the last minute to an Ocean Bungalow.  Sounds great right?  Just alright, didn't knock our socks off, but free extras are always good.

For a hotel of this price range should have the following:
    -Softer bathrobes
    -Cotton rounds & swabs
-A powerful 1875 watt blow dryer
    -Nicer toiletries, it was Aveda
    -Working elevators
-Better gym facilities, it was sorry, we skipped it and went for a run

    Acceptable:
-Good location, between the Delano & the Ritz.
-Good front desk service, great valet guys.

I would not stay here again, the facilities just seemed a little downtrodden, even though it's modern, I like to feel pampered and I like NEW, new NEW!!!

We hosted a corporate event at the Sagamore back in March.  The hotel staff was pleasant and professional in coordinating our Wine and Cheese Reception.  The hors d'oeuvres and drinks were elegant and delicious.  The bartenders were friendly and helpful.  Our guests absolutely loved the location, with the artsy and modern ambiance.  Although the room rates were too high for our long stay for a large corporate group, I was thrilled with how well they pulled off our event.  Made me look like a rockstar event planner.  We'd definitely choose them for another SoBe event in the future if we were in the area.

I've stayed here 3 times, first time in a bungalow which was perfect and adorable. Last time, was about a month ago and the service couldn't have been better. Recovering from the nights' before festivities, my party and I lounged by the pool all day and were waited on hand and foot literary. I had a cut from the day before and the amazing pool attendant Vito was so kind to grab me an extra bandaid and cream. There were 2 attendants waiting on the entire area and they were amazing. Moving umbrellas when the sun shifted, recommending their favorite cocktails and appetizers. All my experiences there were delightful and an addition plus for parents (very kid friendly)

LOVED this hotel! Stayed here for an all girls labor day weekend/birthday trip.

The number one thing that stood out the most besides the absolutely stylish art decor throughout the hotel and the clean rooms was their STELLAR customer service! From the time we stepped foot on the property, we received absolutely incredible customer service. It literally took 1-2 minutes to receive anything we asked for from the time we called to the front desk. Everyone was so willing to please (without overdoing it) and with a smile. I'm planning to bring my husband back to this hotel next year for a romantic weekend getaway.

Although the hotel is on the strip, it still provides you with the "calmness" that you need after partying all day and night. LOL

Do yourself a favor and stay at this hotel.

The only minor thing I would say about the rooms is that they're a bit dim inside with not as much lighting as you'd hope for but we barely stayed in the rooms so who cares!

One thing I'd suggest to improve is to add a full length wall mirror somewhere in the living room area - when you're about 5 deep in one room you could use an extra full length mirror. Ha!

Kudos to whomever owns this dynamic hotel with such a dynamic staff.

This review has been a long time coming(from a career procrastinator) Came here for my ?0th with 2 of my best friends and I booked the duplex bungalow which was a little less than what I saw in the pictures on line however for the price and comparable to other Miami beach hotels this place was the shit! and clean and spacious.

Here's the thing.. you expect your accommodations to be decent and clean for which they absolutely were but then you think, okay for the price somethings gotta give right? Well the Sagamore exceeded our expectations and here is how:
    1. they sent a birthday card to the room along with a bottle of wine and a card hand written and signed by the staff wishing me a happy birthday! WOW! (i still have it :))
    2. Sunday was my actual birthday and we decided to just chill and hang by the pool all day.. while we were buying drinks and food from the pool bar all day we also had a bottle of champagne that we were trying to keep low so they wouldn't shun us but Miguel the pool guy came over unsolicited and brought over an ice bucket and champagne glasses!!!! What???!!! That never happens! That pretty much set the tone for the rest of the day. We continued to buy drinks, food, shots as we would have normally but our experience with the staff made so much of an impact.
    3. The location is perfect! Walkable to Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, Delano,Dream, W, etc
I also have to shout out Micky the bartender that took care of us at the bar with great service and a friendly engaging personality for the whole weekend right up until the time my cab to the airport came :).
Seriously couldn't have asked for better service or experience. We are all coming back for the winter music conference in March and are looking forward to the stay besides everything else :).

I stayed here on a living social deal. They gave us a free upgrade to a 2 story bungalow with a garden view. Which I loved being that. Most places treat you second rate with voucher deals but this place gets it! I will definitely return and highly recommend. They have great staff and a little art gallery inside. The bungalow had a kitchen area but no stove, 2 balconies, and a pull out sofa downstairs. Of course it's in the heart of sobe 2 minutes from the sand.

On my last night at the Sagamore, I couldn't sleep because there was an altercation in a nearby room. I tossed and turned and tried to ignore it, but as soon as it became clear that somebody was being shoved around, I called security. Soon I saw a security staffperson walk briskly past my room. I heard a woman exclaim, "My eye!" Then it was quiet.

Later that morning as I checked out, I mentioned the incident and asked if I might be compensated for my last night in the hotel. The desk agent went into a back room to talk to the manager. When he came back, he said that they couldn't comp my room because they would have to investigate the incident. He said they had no record of it.

Instead, as a weak gesture, they took $46 off my incidentals - which wasn't even all of the incidentals, let alone the room rate for an awful night's sleep.

Leaving aside the fact that they didn't make it right for me, and leaving aside their awkward implication that I myself was lying, how as a functioning operation can you not have a record of an incident like that?

Was it a case of domestic violence? A one-night-stand gone wrong? Somebody roughing up a prostitute? I don't know. But what I do know is that there are plenty of other nice hotels along that stretch of road, and next time I'll be trying one of them.

We ate lunch next to the pool... Which was excellent.  Mickey, our server, was prompt and courteous. I had the buffalo mozzarella and tomato/pesto sandwich EVER. Honestly... This place is pretty outrageous and incredibly overpriced for at least two reasons. The furniture in the room was probably the cheapest furniture anywhere, and the overpriced candy bowl on the table was insulting. The room was a few hundred dollars a night, so if those greedy money monsters are going to charge an arm and a leg they should have at least bought nicer furniture and given me a free piece of candy instead of trying to squeeze every cent out of me. The staff were probably the most outrageous, though. They follow you around fiending for your cash like a bunch of window washers. I think the only difference between them and homeless people is that the staff are showered and better dressed, but just as annoying. Watch out, this place is a black hole of greed.

The best part about this hotel was the location & the decoration! It is right ON the beach. Perfect location walking distance from almost everything (Lincoln Mall Road, CVS, Morning Coffee, Beach, Ocean Drive, Versace Mansion, Night Clubs, restaurants, etc.) Front desk was always very attentive with room service, luggage assistance, and getting taxi's. Suprisingly the pool was lonely most of the time.

At the beach we had good service as well. You pay for chairs & umbrellas. They even had a kids area with sand castles and toys. Drinks were EH ok. They didnt taste amazing but they did the job and got us buzzed lol. Not too expensive either. I'd recommend bringing your own food & drinks.

I think they could have cleaner rooms, I felt room service could've cleaned better. I would stay here again & I recommend it!

From the delicious dishes in the dining room to a beautiful pool area, great beach service, nice rooms, and all the artwork in the hotel, the Sagamore proves to be a hidden little treasure of a hotel with a lot of Miami appeal, yet done tastefully instead of in your face.

Why not stay here, it's right on the beach with its own chairs, bar service, etc, and it's close to all the places you really want to be when you think South Beach".

Since our room wasn't ready yet, the hotel gave us keys to access the pool and the beach, we checked our bags and went straight to the pool of the hotel. Then at around 1PM they called my cell and let me know the room was ready.

The public areas of the hotel were amazing. The lobby is a very modern and bright open room with couches and interesting art. As you walk through the first floor of the hotel, you first come to the bar. We never visited the bar because there were so many other places we wanted to go, however it looked like a cool place to get a quick drink before going out on the town in Miami. Next to the bar, there was this small side room that is like an interactive art gallery lounge, that could be a nice place to do some work or have an intimate conversation. As you keep walking through the hotel, you get to a small dining area at the end of the hotel. There is a large dining table indoors next to the kitchen, and small patio tables and chairs right outside on a covered deck area. We never ate at the hotel or ordered room service so I have no idea how their food is.

You walk down a couple of steps and you enter a tranquil garden with several semi private areas with couches for lounging and talking in small groups. The back of the hotel is so green and plush with palm trees, green bushes for privacy, and beautiful vines growing on the balconies of the hotel. As you walk through the garden patio area, you get to the pool area at the back of the hotel. You can go straight to the beach from the back gate of the hotel, but you wouldn't even need to leave the pool area if you didn't want to at The Sagamore. The pool was perfect for my friend who doesn't swim. It is a beach entry pool that starts from 0 FT and gradually gets to 5 FT deep. The pool area offered around two dozen lounge chairs and even had sandy areas to make it seem more like your right on the beach. There is a fully stocked bar right by the pool, and I love the bartender that works there. When I sprained my ankle he helped get me ice, wrapped it with a ace bandage, and helped me into a wheelchair when I needed to get to the airport. Amazing!

A hidden gem of a boutique hotel--chic and peaceful. We've gone to nearby hotels for an evening raucous vibe but so happy to come home to the Sagamore. The pool is beautifully heated in perfect sync with the weather. The pool area is buffered from exterior sounds and wind so even when it's 60 degrees out the pool area feels like 75. The decor is smart and stylish. The staff is helpful and accommodating.

This is a very cute little boutique hotel in the heart of SOBE and is located in a very populated busy area - if you want super quiet, do not stay anywhere near this area, go to Bal Harbour or Key Biscayne.
The hotel has a lot of pluses - the rooms are large, and can easily accommodate 3-4 people comfortably. The bathroom however, is really lacking storage, and I believe it's because it was remodeled in a modernist minimalist style that lends itself to appearing clean and uncluttered. Not good if you have a lot of toiletries and at least 2 people needing the bathroom. The fixtures and furniture are a little tired...I'm not going to say they were great and clean, the room was a little dusty and could have been a little cleaner. This is a nice hotel because of location, but the interiors are getting worn and probably need updating soon. The pool area furniture was pretty uncomfortable and lacking some pillows on some very square chairs that do not encourage sitting and staying for any length of time. Service at pool was spotty, sometimes great, other times no so.
So....on to the beach, which was right there and very nice. The hotel staff was very accommodating providing chairs, towels and umbrellas. We did not really stay by the pool because it just was nicer to be at the beach. The pool area had sand everywhere, and there was very little walk way space between the pool and chairs, etc. and the sand everywhere was kinda not necessary. It is very small too - so it fills up fast and it's loud when there are a lot of people swimming at once, not relaxing one bit.
This hotel sits in an ideal spot for real estate, and it is surrounded by hotels that have grown up and out and could swallow this place up. It will be interesting to see what happens with this place, it has a lot going for it, but I'm not sure I'd stay there again. The price was great for the size of room, but I didn't need a space so large, with a kitchette, etc. I'd rather have newer fixtures and furniture with a bigger bathroom.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, we had no issues with anyone! The room was clean and lovely...especially loved the free snack they left us! We loved having our own chair and umbrella at the beach that the guys would set up for us. We even got to order drinks and didn't have to move a muscle. ea

The best this about this hotel is the location. Close to Ocean dr., Lincoln,. Delano, etc. Other than that, for the price we paid we were a little disappointed.
On our second day, we were hanging out in my room and all of a sudden the ceiling started leaking water. It was taken care of by management and staff within 30 min. We were also accommodated with free continental breakfast for 3 days, as well as a no charge for the beach chair and umbrella fee of $17 a day. So this saved us roughly $80 since we were staying 5 nights. However, the free continental breakfast included a coffee, juice, and either a fruit bowl or cereal with some breakfast pastries. I ordered the cereal, but they happened to be out of cereal that whole week?? So I ate fruit bowls for breakfast for 3 days to get my satisfaction of a "free complimentary breakfast". My sister had an issue with her room as well. They were experiencing ants in the room all over the counter. She was upset because she had a 10 month old baby in the room. The manager took care of her by deducting a few hundred dollars off there bill. He also sent us a round of mojitos one day when we were sitting by the pool which was very courteous. This is why I am not giving this hotel 1 star, because there were issues, but they were fixed with accommodations. I also noticed at night time there was not really much going on at the Sagamore. As I walked through the pool area at around 9pm on a Friday there was no one outside except me. All I could here was the bass from music at another hotel next to us. The hotel bar is a little off. Only good for a on the go drink. There is a huge column in the middle of the bar which is makes it very unpleasant.
My hotel room was located on the ground floor closest to the pool. One day as I was sitting outside my room on our patio, I noticed one of the employees walked on to my patio and cut through the corner around the bush to keep walking. Why did he do that?? a few minutes later this same employee did it again. Using my room patio and my space for his convenience to cut the corner and go around the bush. He was listening to his ipod and I couldn't get his attention. It felt weird to me that as I was sitting and relaxing he had to come close to my chair on my patio to cut a corner. This happened a few more times that day and the next day as well. I didn't even bother saying anything because he was clearly not paying attention since he was listening to music and working.
We came to this hotel because of good reviews on yelp, but left a bit disappointed. For the price we paid it was not worth it.

Not a huge fan of this place. I stayed here due to a birthday party, not by choice. Pros: you have a pool and the beach. Plus an awesome location. Not too expensive I paid 420 a night.

However....the service here is lacking. The doormen are too busy text messaging to ever help you with your bags or catching a cab. The beach cabana boys have some serious hangover-attitude. And the food here is horrible. I stayed here while pregnant and could not stomach anything other than a few breakfast items. If you're wasted, I'm sure you won't mind but if you plan on being here sober. You're out of luck. There smoothies are literally fruit juice blended with ice.

If I could do it again. I would try my luck somewhere else.

My best friends took me here for a bachelorette weekend, and it was the perfect place to stay! The rooms were simple but big enough for our group, and they were clean and stylish. The room service was prompt and quick and the hotel has plenty of space. Their pool area was lovely and quiet. Plenty of chairs to lounge in, and good waiter service for breakfast and lunch. Plus, it's just a pretty hotel and the art is cool.

The Sagamore had wonderful beachfront service. We had comfortable chairs set up just steps from the ocean, and our waiter, Zoran, took such good care of us! He brought us plenty of frozen cocktails, took our food orders promptly too AND came back to check and see how we were doing. We even got a couple of free rounds of shots on the house! He couldn't have been more polite or helpful, and it made the beach time truly relaxed and luxurious.

Loved the Sagamore - I will be back!
