I had so much fun at this place when I was here on holiday in '05 The restaurant Sugo was excellent (are they still there?). The rooftop bar was so much fun. The rooms are nicely laid out with 42in plasmas in the living area as well as in the bathroom. Concierge was very helpful and we just had a blast here. I cant wait to go back! Its not on the main south beach drag, but very close to it (short cab ride) We walked to Lincoln Mall for breakfast everyday.

This is a great small boutique hotel, with good-sized one bedroom guest suites.  We came in at 6am from a red-eye, and the hotel was nice enough to set us up in the room for an early check-in.  (We were lucky our room was ready at that time.)  I requested a quiet room away from the restaurant, but the hotel is generally quiet.  (The rooftop bar now seems only an extension of OLA restaurant, and shuts down fairly early.)  Not much outdoor space to hang about, but I chose this hotel to sleep -- I can go to the Delano or the National a block away.

I gave this place a shot  b/c D.Rodriguez (chef) runs it. His joints up in NYC never dissappoint. So why not?!
The all-suite hotel felt very exclusive and the food was well worth "da cheddar" (wish the portions were bigger though) GREAT CEVICHE!!!
My jet-lag didn't feel so bad after a good massage at their spa/salon!
Great service and the convenience of a quick cab to any hot spot is a plus.
The rooftop pool and bar are entertaining...but don't plan on sleeping, this place really wakes up at night!

This was a place that was chosen for a trip for a special birthday celebration. I will say the pictures that I saw on the internet (Expedia) before booking were actually a true depiction of the hotel, so it was definitely nice to get what I booked which seldom happens.  The room was very modern and we really liked the layout, décor and two T.V. option but it ended up the bedroom T.V. did not work and there were no remotes in the room.  Apparently, we were told,  the restaurant here is one of the best in South Beach ( a little pricy) but we had to cancel our reservation because the some of our party did not have appropriate attire.  I liked the idea of a roof top pool BUT it was extremely small (good just to cool of your legs), so if a pool is important this is not the place for you.  Location was good for us, away from the craziness, but close enough to walk to beach, shop and café's . As great, clean and nice as the room was I cannot say the same for the overall hotel and room service- it was not the greatest!  We asked the front desk twice for fresh towels, etc. and they said they were waiting on delivery and when we asked them again later on they said they came but never brought us any.  No room is exact, some are a little more updated then other in terms of sofa, chairs and electronics, but not a huge deal unless you are looking forward to ipod docking. I could never get a strong /secure wifi connection at all!  There was no blow drier and the iron is not the greatest and may burn your clothes.  I would say the worst experience was the gentleman at the front desk at night; not professional. He insisted we would not get a cab for airport with a "flat rate" unless we booked it with them, but we did. He didn't give us the wake up calls we requested (thank goodness for cell alarms), he didn't ask us for our keys when checking out and said we do not get a receipt for check-out because "we did not book with them directly".  Checking out was like telling your Mom your leaving for the night, so don't expect much from them on that. They hold $100 per night on your credit card. If all goes well on my $300 release on my credit card I may stay there again for the same cheap rate even though they have the hotel listed in the rooms as $800 per night- which I would not pay if I had it.  I may stay again because it was clean and I liked the location and roof top, but I am not comfortable with check-out and the service. Maybe they treat you different when booking through a 3rd party.  If a pool and service are important to you stay elsewhere.  Staying in SB depends on what you are looking for and your budget.  When I return to SB I would look for things that have more included in terms of service in hotel that this place was lacking.

Just got back from spending 3 days in South Beach at this hotel which is conveniently located in the heart of south beach Miami right off of Collins Ave and just one block from Lincoln Rd and really great shopping.  The rooftop doesn't really have a bar unless it's for a private party which they did have one evening.  The 'pool' is a wading pool and not a regular pool, but it is nicely done and is good in the evenings for watching the sunset and having a glass of wine.

The actual room was just OK.  It looked a lot better in the pictures on their website.  They need a little maintenance - cracks in the walls, hard water stains in the grout in the shower, water problem with the toilet that kept coming on and then going off,  A/C that was really loud when it clicked on.  I had to take a sleeping pill because of these little noises that became super annoying after an hour after I turned off the lights.

Breakfast was very good - no complaints.  Fresh croissants and bagels with cream cheese and muffins, as well as cereal, and fresh OJ.   Just as with the rooms though it looks like the restaurant where b'fast is served (Ola) needs some maintenance - i.e. chipped chairs, etc, that need replacing.

Staff was very helpful and friendly, and attentive.

Their restaurant "Ola" was closed Sunday and Monday night and they had a private party Tuesday, so we never got to try it out.  Summer is their off season so I that's why they're closed the two nights a week.  During winter they're open 7 days.  It's too bad cause I really wanted to try their ceviche which other posters had said was really good.

Parking:  You can park at the lot directly across the street for $20/day, but if you tell them you're staying for a few days they give you a small discount.  At least that's what the attendant did on the 2nd day there for us.

Swimming:  They allow you to use the facilities at "The Shellbourne" across the street.  They do have a nice pool with a crazy 50's style diving board that has been converted to a waterfall.  It's kind of funny.   The bar in the corner of the pool area had surprisingly good cocktails.

Do not stay here! The worst service. Strange smells in room. Dirty everything. No answer when you call any of the service lines. No ice or vending machines. The pool was closed due to order of Health Dept.  No guest parking you must pay $25 per day. Anywhere is better than this.

We loved the website, theme, and layout of the place. I 've been to the restaurant before and not remembered the hotel. Anyways, the hotel staff was very wishy washy!( I read that on Trip Advisor but was skeptical about the reviews and the pictures.) One person would be accomodating and then the next person would just seem to not even care this is weird with such a small staff. I assumed that was because of the price we paid ( 114$). I read about the deluxe sweet with 800sqft of space. When I arrived for our reservation about 30 min early and asked for an early check in. The front desk person said not available so I asked about it and the front desk person said its not clean and brushed me off. I said," I would like to see the size of the room" and she said its only about a few feet bigger than your normal . I was for sure I read there was a suit that was 800sft which is double the size. The guy on the phone didn't know much about the different rooms either. I assumed none of the upgradeable rooms were available and just left it alone.  I noticed not too many guest were even there that sunday.
The hotel and restuarant layouts are awesome! Beautiful nook on James street! Restaurant is comfty and the bar tender was super!!! Room walls were dirty(rm 112) My college apartment had less scratches. The A/C also broke but they fixed it a few hours later. I felt like it would be better to switch rooms because the temp was 85 degrees. He told me it would cool in a few. I left to go to the beach just to avoid the hot room.  All in all I still think it was an ok hotel. I would even stay there in the future for the price and the fact that its right near the action but in a hideaway. I just hate to see the potential go to waste! Location is awesome!! ROOF TOP was cool to ( although one side was not cleaned)!
Restaurant and bar seemed like the focus! I love those meatballs! Good luck in the future. This hotel can go places with a passion driven management and focus on customer service.  I'm african american and hope it just wasn't me. :)

This is now my 2nd stay at the Sanctuary. I was in June for my 40th. The hotel treated very nice. We we check in again and they remembered me from before. The room is clean, everything in the room works. A/C is a little loud, but not a deal breaker. The front desk is always nice every time we came and went. this is our new hotel in SB. There is no reason to look for any other hotel. this is the place. The service is what keeps me coming back. Its only a couple of blocks from the beach. Its quiet and tucked in a residential area.
Thanks again for making my stay in SB GREAT.

A security guy at the Shore club gave us some special deal here (either he worked there also or they are in some way related...), so for that reason it was totally worth staying at! Off the beaten path, not on the beach (only a short walk away), no great views, and it was raining while we were here (which probably also impacted my view of it..)...there was a rooftop pool, but pretty small, and not at all crowded, and the rooms themselves are great, suites with kitchens, and a full living room area, bedroom, and huge bathroom!  It was all very modern, but in a good way.  I'd definitely stay here again unless I wanted to drop a fortune on the shore club or somewhere on ocean! 1000920359305x better than anywhere on collins!

The only downfall to this hotel is that its not directly on the beach and there are not any views sinces its only a couple floors high. Also, theres no gym on premises.

Other than that, this place is awesome. The rooms are suites with full kitchens...and its not like a Microtel suite or something like that, its basically a boutique/suites version of a Morgans Hotel (Mondrian, Shore Club, Delano). Its a modern hotel but doesnt have the modern, cold feel to it. If you get a good rate and dont want a cramped room, I highly recommend it.

Pros: Very quiet, private pool, roughly 20 rooms, very quaint, extremely friendly staff. Free breakfast.

Cons: Weak shower, we booked 2 rooms. No beach view, its rougly 2 blocks away. Noisy AC unit.

Details: Rooms are suites with a kitchen, and full living room, 2 flat screen TVs (bed and living room). High end L'occitane  toiletries. Staff helped store our 8 pieces of luggage we carried from our 7 day cruise in their office. I would absolutely go back!

Came here for a destination reception in South Beach. Every morsel was tasty and the service top-notch. it was a memorable event. The reception was 5-stars. Highly recommend.

The Sanctuary was a beautiful, modern, extremely small high-end boutique hotel not far from the beach, and only a couple blocks from Lincoln Rd, where all the fabulous South Beach shopping is located.

Would've loved staying here, but chose not to stay at the hotel.
    1) Not on ocean
    2) Low-rise building means rooms have no view.
    3) No gym.

Sanctuary was a bit pricy, so staying at an ocean-front hotel became a no-brainer. Even considered staying at the nearby RitzCarlton for a very small premium over the Sanctuary.

Stayed a block away at the National, which had pools and direct access to the beach, plus a great sunrise ocean-view for about the same cost.

Writing this review based on my experience parking my car at Sanctuarys valet parking, parked the car for 1 hour, came back to pick up the car early, gave the attendant the ticket and he went and got the keys and pointed to where the car was. I stated that when I dropped the car off I had to wait while he got other people's car and why wouldn't he get mine? To which he responded "you only paid $7". That's fine, if thats the level of customer service you get for $7, I guess it would have been nice to know before hand instead of him tossing my wife the keys. So, I call the hotel to let them know about what happened and I was told, " the valet is a private company and we have no control over how they treat customers" I found that to be strange seeing as the sign says "Sanctuary Valet".

We stayed here for three days.
The location is amazing! We were right by Collins Ave, the beach, Lincoln Road, the W, etc. The hotel is nestled between two bus stops so you can take the express bus to the airport which saved us 70 bucks both ways from taking a cab.
Our room was really big and spacious.. everyone was really nice. We would sit by the pool at night and have a pre dinner drink. Note: there is only a microwave in the "kitchen" so not a full service kitchen. And we never saw bowls, plates or silverware.

After a long flight and traveling by myself with very heavy luggage, all I wanted to do was go to my hotel and sleep.  My cab driver left my bags on the street and right away the hotel staff took my luggage and carried it up the stairs.  The Zen-like atmosphere and friendly staff made me perk up.

When I opened my room, I walked into a pleasant surprise.  The room was stunning and perfect for my long stay because it had a living room and kitchen.  Instead of going to sleep, I went to the hotel bar and had the most amazing ceviche that I have ever had.  The staff also entertained me since I was alone, which was nice.

I made a few friends on my trip and every night before we would head out to explore the night life, we would grab a glass of wine and an appetizer because it became our favorite spot.  All of my friends loved this hotel more than where they were staying and are going to book reservations for next year ASAP.

All of the staff were friendly and very knowledgeable.  I do want to say thank you to Augusto Aguilera, the guest services manager.  He went above and beyond in making my stay so wonderful.  I can't wait to come back next year!!  xo

Great location. Right near everything you want to see like Lincoln, Collins and The Fillmore but tucked away from the craziness and all the people on those roads. Made me feel safe and was quiet enough to sleep in. The room was very clean and had two TV's and a living room, kitchen and bedroom. The sheets...were amazing! Like I was sleeping on a cloud. And there is a four star restaurant down stairs! Great for when you get tired of walking too far.

If you are looking for a hotel where the pool was closed by the health department (true story), this place is for you.  If you are looking for a place where mops and buckets are stored in public areas, this place is for you. If you are looking for a place where no one answers any service requests, this place is for you.  If you believe in 100% self-reliance, this place is for you. I have never been more disappointed with a hotel, period.

Really nice staff and cute rooms, but we found worms on the bed, then the safe wouldn't work, then found a whole family of worms in the bathtub in the morning, disgusting! We canceled the rest of our nights there and told the staff who said a manger would contact us, I've now called and emailed several times and haven't heard anything from a manger. Oh and the pool area was also disgusting!

Very nice place overall.  The rooftop pool area was closed off during the time we were there.  Augusto and Kelly were great hosts --- very knowledgeable and friendly.  LIke everyone has already said, you don't have a view of the ocean, but you're about a 3 block walk from Lummus Park.

Biggest regret was that I didn't try Ola... all reviews say that the restaurant is awesome.

Save your time and skip this one. The customer service for the hotel is abysmal. After multiple tries booking over the web, I had to call their front desk to book who said their CC system was having issues. After finally booking, they fail to send me my confirmation email even after 3 calls. When I need to modify my reservation, they keep me on hold for 15 min and raise the price up on the room significantly.

Not the kind of service I would expect from a hotel.

My boyfriend and I previously stayed here. We were exhausted from our flight so we tried to take a nap but all we heard was a slamming door behind our heads. I asked once what it was and I was told it would be taken care of. 6 hours later when we arrived back in the room it was still going on. I went back up front very upset and finally found someone who was a great help - his name was Louis, he upgraded our room so we could enjoy our stay. The rooftop pool is beautiful and the location of the hotel is perfect, the staff just isn't on the same page. There was an incorrect charge on my boyfriends card, 2 different people at the desk told us it was taken care of, then a 3rd person told us it was never applied. Now a few weeks later the charge is still there. I don't think I would go back and stay again which is a shame because I prefer to stay at cozy boutique hotels and the atmosphere was very comfortable.

What makes this place is the location and the staff.  Everyone was very attentive and accommodating, especially Luis!  The pool area is cute and suitable for tanning.  The courtyard is quiet and calming.  The rooms are large with a separate living room, including a frig, microwave, sink.  Bath has a large walk in tub/shower.  The restaurant was always hopping- even though we didn't eat there.  This place is within walking distance to everything "south beach".  I would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel. I was iffy about booking this but then the reviews were quite decent and they were right. This is a nice place. Staff is very accomodating. I got assigned to a room right by the door so asked to be changed and they were nice enough to give me a room at the back.
Room is a suite with a living area containg a futon, chair, microwave, sink and a mini bar. I liked that they had organic decaf coffee. Bed is comfy.
Pool is really tiny but it is well kept might be a little tight when you have a lot of ppl up there.
Great location. You can walk to Lincoln road shops and the beach is a couple of blocks away.
They also have complementary continental breakfast with fresh fruit, bagles, croissants, mini muffins, OJ and coffee. Nothing fancy but not bad.
Staff at the front desk are nice. Only issue is that there's no lobby and the front desk is right in the restaurant. But it's no big deal.
On my last day, checked out and left my luggage at the front desk. They called me a taxi so I can head to the airport on time. Staff is really great.

Came here for the spa...wouldn't go back. It's very small. I had an issue parking, but the girl at the salon dealt with it for me which was really nice of her to do. They don't have parking here so you park across the street in a lot and the lot charges $20. I was only going to be here for an hour, which is insane. Apparently if you are going to the spa, say that and it should be $10.

The spa is small, and the walls/doors are thin. You can hear everything including people's conversations outside. Was very awkward.

The massage itself was descent. But the overall experience, just wasn't a 'zen' like. I'd say if you get the groupon for the $60 massage to go for it, how bad could it be for that price. But I'd never pay full price for here.

"It's like a total monet"... Aka looks good from far away, broke down up close. 2.5 stars. Checked in (no lobby, just a desk in a restaurant, didn't care about that but also didn't care for it) . Our room had the lighting of a cheap motel, sheets were dirty (stains, hair, unidentified particles), two cockroaches, light in bathroom not working, and missing tiles in the shower/dirty shower. We called it quits after finding the second cockroach. Concierge at night was nice and understanding, put us in a different room (we were going to be charged for one night regardless so we sucked it up). New room was cleaner but still had crap lighting and the toilet kept running...all night... We checked out the next morning and the new concierge seemed less that interested in why we wanted to check out early and was def not helpful in our refund process. We got a deal online for our stay, absolutely not worth it to us. Maybe if I was still in college and used to dorm rooms.

    Pros: Great location!

    Cons:
    1. Housekeeping leaves at 5pm everyday including weekends.  That means no fresh linens or any housekeeping between 5pm-8am the next morning. We needed towels to bathe for dinner. Too bad for us, no towels until the morning. Ridiculous.

    2.  Dirty room. Trash-can under kitchen sink still full from previous guests, it wasn't emptied. Still sitting there because it is after 5pm now, and thus no housekeeping to remove it.

    3. Dirty bathroom & smells like mildew and obviously dirty grout.

    4. Thin walls. Need I say more?

If you are fine staying with other peoples trash & using soiled linens, this is the place for you.

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars but I chose 4 because of the overall experience I had in South Beach while staying in this Hotel and the price I paid for it.

This was my first time in Miami altogether. My mom and I met "in the middle" as I live in San Francisco and she is in New Jersey. This was a good option for us since it was only 2 blocks from the beach, $100/night, and seemed to have a fun vibe on the website.

The pros - very comfy bed (they only have 1-bedrooms so you have to share a queen), nice shower, fridge/microwave. Good free wifi. There is also an indoor/outdoor restaurant attached but it is on a quieter street.

The cons - no free parking (we paid $50 for 2 nights across the street), fuzzy tv, broken "terrace" door, rooftop pool smaller than it appears online - more like a large hot tub with bugs in it. But good lounge chairs with direct sun!

My final complaint is about my deposit fee. When I initially booked online, the email said "card charged upon booking". When I got to the desk, 2 weeks later, they said that it was not charged until 3 days before we arrived and it was declined. I was a bit aggravated that no one let me know it was declined until I got to the desk.

All in all, this hotel is in a great location if you want that beach vibe and are on a budget. It also has that very south beach art deco style with a little twist of zen (buddha statues and fountains in the small courtyard between the rooms) and clean modern room decor.

This is an incredible hotel. Great location, great customer service, incredibly comfortable beds. Very nice and clean. They have many additional perks associated with the hotel that you should be sure to take advantage of such as free transportation throughout south beach, beach access and the free continental breakfast. We were upgraded upon arrival too. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is nowhere near 4 star hotel, when you come in there is no lobby, no valet parking as states on their site, you can park cross the street for $20-30 a day, it's very small property, regular suits are small and uncomfortable, I dono what genius designed those suits but it's lacking basics that even 3 star hotel should have. Bathroom is next to the bed, bathroom has glass walls so if you go to the bathroom at night who ever is sleeping will wake up to the light that shines right in your face, on top of that bathroom sink is outside also across from the bed so you can imagine that you will wake up every time someone uses bathroom, washes hands or brushes their teeth, second problem is AC, it makes weird loud sounds through out whole time so good luck getting nice sleep, there is tiny balcony that shows the view of building wall, so I don't know the purpose of that balcony because you can't stand on in and there is no view, kitchenette has mini bar that is empty, and no stove, I also don't see the point of kitchenette with no stove, last thing that is a big disappointment to this place is the pool, there is no pool because it's a size of two bathtubs put together and it's 2 feet deep, in fact nobody from people that stay in the hotel goes to that kiddi pool and hotel gives passes to Gale hotel cross the street, they have pool size of maybe 4 bathtubs put together but still a little better, the only positive things I can say about this hotel is that rooms were clean, staff was nice, they give you pass for beach chairs and free breakfast. It's not even near 4 stars so if you looking for a 4 star place better pay a little more and stay somewhere else, but if you ok with motel quality that it will do the job

I had a great experience here and would definitely recommend it. The price was reasonable for me and my partner, but we used a Groupon deal and I'm unsure of the regular price. The bed was comfortable and the balcony was good although it faced a wall and was above the restaurant kitchen. The "kitchenette" (a sink, mini fridge, and counter/ cabinet space) and living room area were a plus and we had some good down time with friends there. The area was quiet but only 1 block from the beach and a short walk to Lincoln Road and other stores and food.

The cons of this place were bad lighting in the bedroom and bathroom area and a sort of open shower because one of the doors was missing (but this is apparently how all the rooms are since our friends' were the same). The shower was very large and had a cascade shower head at least. The pool was small, but the deck was nice for getting some sun in a private setting.

The front desk folks were nice and were very helpful and attentive when I left my iPad there after heading home. They shipped it to me and kept me updated on its status consistently.

This was a great place to relax and we really enjoyed our stay. I've stayed in Miami Beach often and, for the price, this was a great value.

I haven't had the pleasure of staying at this hotel, however was invited to a party at their rooftop bar last night. It has a great view of the South Beach skyline, with a wading pool (2ft 10in max), plenty of secluded bench seating, a dance floor area and two bar areas. The rooftop is split into two sides with the elevator in the middle. It made last night's party great, because despite having a lot of people in a small space, the two areas made it seem less crowded.

The staff were amazing, extremely friendly, professional and helpful. They were on top of everything, making sure the area stayed clean the entire night. Only moments after setting down an empty glass someone would come by to pick it up.

I don't know their pricing, however from a guest's point of view, it is a great option for private parties.

Four of us stayed at The Sanctuary this past weekend and absolutely loved it. My boyfriend and I were unexpectedly upgraded to the Spa Penthouse and spent the whole weekend talking about how amazing it was. Our friends had a regular room and theirs was pretty great, as well. Both were large and clean. The regular room included a small kitchen and a living room that was separate from the bedroom (but no door division). The Penthouse was one (very) large room with a private sun deck and fantastic shower. Beds were comfortable. Rooms were clean. Staff was attentive. You really couldn't ask for anything more in a hotel. We were so pleased with our stay that we ended up extending our trip an additional night.

The pool is small -- but it's located on the roof and has several chairs, which are good for laying out. If you want to swim, you can use the nearby Shelborne, which is gorgeous. The hotel is in a great location and just a few short blocks from many restaurants and bars.

We're already talking about going back!

Location is good but the room was a wreck. The spring on the door was broken, there was no door on the shower, fixtures were broken and there was a pool of water in the main walkway outside the room with an orange cone by it. Also, the iron in the room was totally covered in black crust. When we asked for a new one they brought us two more that were also disgusting.  Nothing like going to your birthday dinner with wrinkled clothes.

Just really disappointed. Definitely not 3-4 stars

If you want to stay in a place that's like having your own apartment in South Beach then this is the place.  I visited from Los Angeles and found this place randomly via a hotwire deal, I'm so happy that I did.

Terrible experience! Although the location is great, rooms smell musty, mildewy, and confirmation email stated 3pm check in. Front desk said , NO, it's 4pm. After waiting 30 min. With several other guests attempting to check in as well, our room key was presented at 4:30. Pool extremely small, restaurant food average, and when we tried to get a table in an empty restaurant, we were told to sit at the bar since we had no reservation, even after identifying ourselves as guests of the hotel. There are far too many superior choices for accommodations in the area to waste time with this one.

A "C+" for comfy. Kind of.

As a former beach resident, I must get creative when visiting now that I moved to California. I recently booked two nights at this so-called oasis because the price was right and the location rocked. However we found ourselves yearning to spend more time anywhere else but there.

Why? Well for one, the Sanctuary seemed almost abandoned. No other guests, no diners at Ola, no spa clients - yet an influx of staff hanging around. There was maintenance drilling in the morning and pressure cleaning outside our door. Who doesn't care for some bleach with breakfast? Me.

The rooms were spacious and the location is perfect. Other than that - avoid it. Book a stay at the Gale across the street and enjoy a true vacation.

My opinion? Menin Hotels should look into a lil re-vamping..

I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS.

The following items were missing from my room which was called the "Spa Penthouse" on the second floor:

-MY $200 SWEATER WHICH I LEFT ON MY BED. When I called to ask about my sweater, the person on the phone ended the call with "I couldn't find the key to your room, did you return it?" I totally blew up! You're worried about your STUPID $1 key? What about my sweater that SOMEONE OBVIOUSLY STOLE.
    - PHONE
    -hairdryer
    - pillow cases on the pillows  (DISGUSTING)
    -a sink that drained (EW)
-water pressure in the "rain shower"
    -iron
-doors to balcony that actually locked. MAYBE SOMEONE USED THESE DOORS TO COME IN AND STEAL MY SWEATER? JUST SAYING.
    - chain lock. (I was scared in my room all night because I only had a deadbolt lock and not even a card access door)
    - a safety deposit box
    -Mini Bar was EMPTY
-The "Beach Club" doesn't even have drinks or food

And to top it all off, I woke up in the middle of the night to a weird buzzing sound coming from the bathroom. It just would NOT go away and I was forced to call the front desk at 2 AM after sleepily searching for the hotels number on my cell phone because  I DIDN'T HAVE A PHONE IN MY ROOM.

No refund was offered. No offer to change my room (stayed two nights). Just a horrible experience overall.
Definitely would not recommend this place to ANYONE.

Side-note- My colleague's room was PREPAID and they charged his card for the reservation even though it was already paid for on our company card. What a bunch of crooks!

My husband and I stayed here 2 nights. Had booked it through a national online company but still paid over $300 for it due to events happening in the Miami Beach area. It looks good from the outside & on their website but when you are there it's another story!

There is no valet parking. It's a drop off across the street at $30 per night, cash only! That should have told us something! Anyways, as other reviewers wrote, there isn't a lobby per se' just a desk outside of the restaurant for check ins. We went to our room and unpacked. We realized that all they left us was decaf coffee for the keurig and no coffee cups. So, we requested from the concierge, coffee cups and coffee. We were brought, 3 capsules of caffeinated coffee & very small styrofoam cups. We thought maybe they made a mistake. A over $300 a room would not have styrofoam cups! So we requested again, this time receiving paper to go cups. I gave up. I thought maybe since we would get ceramic cups considering there is a 5 star restaurant in their lobby! To top it off, no spoons or stirrers to stir our coffee! We were disgusted but had already prepaid for the rooms.

The shower head was coming out of the wall. Stains on the walls by the bathroom sink, no lighting to do makeup, burnt out bulbs in the overhead lighting in the bedroom, etc.. The air conditioner made loud noises every time it came on and the tv/cable system was horrible. Our tv had a white line that ran through it & cable was horrible almost fuzzy! When leaving the hotel, they only have one key per room as we were told by the concierge so you have to leave it with them. The rooftop pool was dirty and not as big as it look on their website. The bed & pillows were horrible. It had a dip in the middle of the bed & pillows were falling apart.

The only plus on this boutique hotel is that it was close to everything especially other hotels that I would have rather stayed in, especially for the price tag of $297 plus $15 resort fee plus $30 per day valet parking! We were ripped off. I will stay at other places than this place. By the way, each evening during the restaurant service, they will set tables outside your door so watch out upon leaving your room when you open the door, you just might bump into restaurant customers dining there! The whole experience was totally disappointing especially for the money we spent. Mismanagement of this property will be it's downfall if they don't fix it.

    P.s, never tried the restaurant...OLA

So it was New Years time, Miami's high season and the time in which hotels are either ridiculously expensive or completely booked. Even the incredible shitty, disgusting, morbid hotels such as The Penguin are starting at $500 a night. I was fully preparing to end up spend more simple to avoid staying at some dump when I came across The Sanctuary.

The Sanctuary really lives up to it's name. It's a quiet hotel, the rooms are comparable to a small, modern apartment, and it's peaceful. The restaurant in the hotel, Ola, is absolutely amazing! In fact, it trumps some of the restaurants in the more lusted after hotels. The pool area is very quiet to the point that no one was using it while I was there. I was able to relax in peace and there was a decent view as well.

If you are looking for a hotel with a party vibe, this is NOT the place. Unlike Fontainebleau or SLS, the hotel is very peaceful and zen. It truly lives up to it's name. The positive thing though, is if you do want to go to a more lively destination, The Sanctuary is conveniently located walking distance to hotels such as The Raleigh, The Delano, Shore Club, etc.

For a very affordable price and a good location, I recommend the Sanctuary.

The service including checking in, breakfast buffet style though very simple breakfast like croissant and different kinds of bread, yoghurt, milk, juice and coffee are all decent. The room was very modernly decorated and has separate living room from bedroom space with microwave and refrigerator which is very nice. However, the beds are EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE. I can't sleep We paid $160 including tax and $10 resort fees when i bid through Hotwire. We didn't bring car. The distance to the beach is about 10-15 min walking distance depending on your pace. The pool was very unique but very small. its not crowded at all and we checked in around 2pm

Getting knocked down to three stars.

They put an extra mystery charge of $20.00 on my credit card and have not removed it.

Been here a number of times because of the price during the boat show.  I think it was a nice place in the 50's.  People are nice, texted me to make sure everything was ok.  What do you say? Please remodel my room?  It's tired, old, and weird but a very short walk to the convention center.  Go ahead and stay here but don't expect much.  Be prepared for a cash pre- paid parking lot across the street, $30.00 daily.  It's a bit odd walking through a fairly upscale restaurant with your bags waiting to check in, then again it's south beach where everything is a bit off of center.

For a boutique hotel they are very accommodating and friendly. It's very clean and quieter then the main area of clubs just a one block over. We originally had reservations at another hotel but the over booked us and paid for our accommodations here. I would definately suggest this place. It's clean and updated with fine furnishing and a contemporary style.

My hôtel to stay in Miami! Staff is amazingly kind specially Andres, and Julian. Food and bartending are just perfect (try the meat balls with a spicy Martini). Room a clean and big. Just a little bad thing: the air conditionner can be noisy.

We really enjoyed this boutique hotel! We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. The staff is friendly and very accommodating and the rooms are clean. The food and drinks at the restaurant here are phenomenal! And the bartenders were a lot of fun and very outgoing.
I like that it's a quiet hotel while still only being a block away from the pool parties, clubs and the beach.
Wi-Fi is free, they have a free shuttle to local spots, and beach passes for chairs and umbrellas, which was very nice!

The ONLY problem we encountered was down at the beach. The young lady that stood around pretending to be a server was seriously the worst. She placed a menu two chairs away from us and pointed at it saying, "here is a menu". Were we too far away to hand it to us or to greet us? We enjoyed ourselves at the beach for a couple hours and not once did she walk by us, come ask us if we needed anything. We wanted to order drinks and we were waiting for her but she never came, which is lost money to the hotel or whichever bar she was coming from because we could have sat there all day and had drinks, but ended up getting up to leave to find drinks elsewhere. People had to walk to her to order as she was sitting down in the little cabana. As food was delivered to her, she let it sit until she was ready to deliver it, I'm sure everything was cold by the time it got delivered. As we were leaving I also saw her drop a salad that someone had ordered, then she brushed the sand off threw away the sandy lettuce and gave the customer half a salad. By far the worst server we've ever seen. We walked by her at one point and she was on her cell phone talking to a friend, it wasn't work related based on what we overheard from her conversation.

I feel bad speaking poorly about Sanctuary, and she may have been hired from a bar closer to the beach and unrelated to the Sanctuary, but who knows. Everything else was amazing.
