This place is the worst place to be in Miami.
Extremely racist place. Manager is extremely rude and un-accomodating.
The location is good, but is not the worth the money to live in such an un-welcoming place.
    1. the management is not aware that owning a hotel means being hospitable
    2. The receptionist and manager think they are doing the customers a favor..yes- those were his words
    3. Extremely discourteous to women
    4. There are dozen other places with cheap/same costs that will have 1. a pool, 2. a better breakfast, 3. a better view 4. better staff.

I advise you against this hotel.

The location was key only a block from the beach, clean, comfortable. The style of the hotel is beautiful, Art deco from the front and you feel like a king walking in down the palm lined walkway. Rooms are nice and large however the bathroom has a louvered door(makes it a bit intimate) so you have to be comfortable with who you are staying with. The place was pretty basic with not too many amenities. No pool and breakfast is not included which I was looking for. The room directory says they have a shared one down the street but that is no longer true. But if your looking for something in the heart when you are going to head out this is your hotel. If your looking for a resort, this is not a place where you are going to find that.

Hidden gem right next to the beach with a warm and charming staff, fantastic king bed, slept like a baby

I went with a colleague of mine who had ANTS in her bed. he was forced to share a bed with another coworker of mine since the hotel had no cleaning service at 3 in the morning, nor it have any other available rooms.

While this is terrible on its own, they then refused to acknowledge that this happened and to allow us to check out early. So we paid for 4 days we didn't use. They are thieves who can't even maintain basic cleanliness.

Just stayed here 1 night and I liked the location.  It looked like it was recently upgraded ( fresh coat of paint, nice carpet and decorated really nice.) not a big hotel.  i did not have any manager or management problems. basically checked in and went to beach, slept and left.  the bed was HUGE.  but there was one weird thing the bathroom did not have a shower door to separate from the shower from the rest of the bath room.  i am not sure if all rooms were like that.  it made the stay interesting. i would stay there again and i put picture of bathroom.

Decent little hotel with nice staff members, Rodrigo is a cool guy, really helpful and pleasant, Louis is also a friendly guy along with the female manager I'm sorry I forgot her name but I think she is the only female member of staff there

Attempted to stay here on the 17th until we realized there was hair in the bathtubs and hair on the beds.  Nothing looked cleaned.  They told me they were would give me a different room but new room had same problems.  Absolutely disgusting.... Worst part of it all was the customer service.  They refused to refund me because the "manager wasn't there."  The next day hotels.com called south beach hotel and south beach told them they wouldn't refund because they had showed me another room.

Once again, just a brutal experience, stay away.  If you think you can handle the hair, just know that there is no AC or heat so have fun with that.

The hotel staff was great, only reason this review gets two stars is only because of friendly staff. Now, as far as management I must warn you.....There Are A Bunch of hidden fees they charge u after the hotel without knowing.Another problem was the hotel had our room booked when we already  paid for ours months in advance. I will never go back there again it's a bunch of scammers in their...I strongly would have gave this review one star but the staff earned the other.

For the price, location, and room size..... You can't beat this. Clean. Nice staff. Across the street from a great dive bar, Free Spirits.

Stayed end of February, beginning of March 2013.  I would actually give this hotel 2.5 stars.  We had a corporate group staying here for an event down the street for several days.  It keeps your most basic needs met, but not much else.  The staff was very friendly and helpful to me and our whole group.  We had some packages delivered to the hotel, which they handled professionally.

Most of our rooms were fine.  Beds were fairly comfortable, everything was decently clean.  One of the members of our group could never get the shower hot, at any time of the morning or evening.  Another member of our group went to turn his shower on, and the whole fixture just fell right out of the wall.  He shoved it back in, and it seemed to be ok : /.  The bathrooms are strange, all tiled, no shower curtain or door, and louvred doors separating them from the room.  There wasn't much furniture to speak of, but the walk in closet had shelves and space for hanging clothes.  Basic desk in the corner with an uncomfortable chair.

If you get a great price, and basically just need a bed, a shower, and a roof over your head, this hotel will do.  The location is pretty close to the main Lincoln Road mall, the park across the street is nice, and the beach isn't a far walk.  It's also fairly conveniently located to walk to the convention center and botanic gardens.

My room was simple, clean and quiet (when the construction wasnt occurring in the afternoon). I managed to avoid the room during this time frame so it wasnt a big deal for me. The landscaping is totally different from what is advertised online. There is a lot of construction going on and mounds of dirt where the grass should be.  But it was a decent place to stay and met the basic expectations.

Size of the room was small.
Bathroom was very small and the shower could use deep cleaning (i wore flip flops to shower every day since it felt so grimmey).
    Bed was comfy.
    Staff was nice (Omar specifically)
No restaurant in the hotel (the comp breakfast is a restaurant around the corner that you walk to)
They also share pools with the hotel next door. That was strange to me.
I would not stay here again.

For the price, this is a really good hotel. It's location can't be beat and the rooms were clean & modern. I loved the waterfall shower especially. It's just a really refreshing way to cool off after a hot, humid day in Miami.

Price and location are good/very good. Complimentary breakfast at a restaurant about 100 ft away is a plus (although your options are very limited -- pancakes, waffles or yogurt). The room was clean and roomy enough for 2 people (and 2 beds). However, the bathroom is VERY small. The toilet paper holder is terribly placed and the towels were very meh. There is a thermostat in the room but no matter what we did the room would not get cooler and being in Miami, you want to be cool when you're inside. The bedding is not great; thin and cheap. The walls are quite thin; heard neighbors blow drying their hair at midnight and then leaving at the lovely hour of 5am. I would only recommend this place for the location and price combination.

Fantastic price for the location, about a block to the beach! A little under a mile to Espanola Way! Also very close to the convention center, about 2 blocks.... yes, I did remember I was there for work ;) This boutique hotel only has two floors, but the front courtyard area is pretty. Interesting art deco, lobby is bright with fun colors. I asked about the artwork and photographs hanging in the lobby, because one was of Barbie and one was Michael Jordan, both seemed random to me... I was informed that they are works by a local artists and they do switch them out. Adorably, there is a beautiful chess set on a table in the lobby. Not a fan of the blue lighting in the elevator or in the room bathroom, personally find it creepy.

Friendly staff. We all hate it but there is a resort fee. When I checked in, the direction of the pool was pointed out to me, but turns out the hotel doesn't have a pool and uses the one next door? Towels for the pool/beach are available at the front desk. I was also given several breakfast vouchers to use at the restaurant around the corner, Orange Blossom, which we did take advantage of.

My room was alright, clean colors, feels beachy. The floor is not fully carpeted which is understandable since people are surely coming back sandy after the beach. Shower is stand-up only and there is no door. Wish I had taken a picture of the bathroom, because it looks like they have undergone some renovations and their bathrooms are now much more sleek and modern. I did have a problem during my stay - the water in my shower was cold. I literally cannot even describe it as lukewarm. I had to get to work so I managed the first day, then mentioned it to the front office upon my return that day. It was very hot and humid outside, but I still like warm showers! However, it never got fixed and I didn't bother to bring it up again since I was only staying 3 nights. Funny enough, my colleague had the opposite problem - his water was really hot. His situation did get fixed, and we happened to be checking out at the same time and he got his resort fee for one night waived because of the issue. Since I was there and I heard that, I asked about my room, and was told that maintenance did go in and fix it. Hmmm apparently not, because my water remained cold. Only upon my prompting, I also got one night's resort fee waived. It is better than nothing. They give out cards after checkout with the staff member's name on it and encourage guests to write a review on TripAdvisor.

I'd browse for other options, but definitely wouldn't mind staying here again - though not dealing with cold showers again.

First, I only stayed at the South Beach Hotel one night. I didn't pay for the room but I can tell you about the experience overall.

Hotel: the hotel is a little hideaway off of Collins avenue. Definitely great location, close to everything. The lobby is modern with the Art Deco touches that Miami is known for. At check-in the lady ("Bergey") seemed like she was ready to go and did not smile one time.

Room: walking into the room was a little underwhelming. Since I only stayed for one night, no big deal. The bed looked inviting and was pretty big (more on that in a few) and the room looked clean overall. The bathroom was the biggest problem. The shower, although clean, was unappealing and I had no desire to step inside. The shower curtain did not extend to cover the entire shower and was not long enough to hit the floor so as you can guess, after one shower the floor is soaked. Which is disgusting to walk on and there's not enough towels to soak up the water. Also I wanted to clarify another commenters mention of no air conditioning or heater, that's not true. The thermostat is located in the closet, tricky to find at first but it's there. Okay the bed, the bed's pillows and duvet were fine, the mattress was not (for me). I know mattresses are personal choice but for me it felt like cardboard and I didn't sleep at all during the night.

Overall the hotel was fine to stay at once but next time I'll be at the W or Astor nearby!
