I actually really enjoyed my 3 night stay at this hotel, located right on Ocean Drive on South Beach. Simply being on Ocean Drive, whether its on the beach, sipping on mojitos at one of the many bars and restaurants with outdoor seating or walking down the strip at night, makes you feel like 100 times coolerthan you actually are. I'm not sure what, exactly, it is about this place that has this effect- whether it's the beautiful people and the colorful attire they wear, or the music, or the weather, or the cool art-deco architecture in that area.. but South Beach just makes you.. happy. Our hotel was right smack in the middle of it. It was complete and utter bliss, I tell you. The hotel itself was okay, although not nearly as glamourous as it appeared in the pictures on its website, but that's okay. It had a lot of character, it was clean, everyone there was realy nice and helpful and, actually, the whole downstairs was really, really nice. They have a cool-looking bar and dining area downstairs, a modern lounge, and outdoor seating. The rooms were large and very casual and beachy, and that's something I really liked, actually, because it really reminded me that I was on a nice, relaxing vacation. The most attractive thing about this hotel, in my opinion, is that they have turned the roof top into a lounge area, and have a spot painted on to the wall where they project movies at night for the guests of the hotel and serve gourmet appetizers and drinks. I thought this was an incredibly orginal and fun concept.
I would definitely stay at the Park central again. Not only is the location great, but it's reasonable, comfortable and fun.

Great location, right on Ocean ave. and walking distance to shops, restaurants and beach. However it is a little old, as is most hotels on the strip. Comfortable rooms, but the elevator being that it is an old hotel, takes about 10 minutes to get from floor to floor. Overall we had a nice, short, sweet stay at Park Central.

My review relates to the hotel restaurant only. On Friday May 21, 2010 my wife and I had dinner at Park central cafe which is the restaurant connected to the hotel. The meal started out good we ordered the hearts of palm and avocado salad which was well seasoned and tasty then things went downhill. My wife ordered the lobster tail served with garlic mashed potatoes and spinach, sides had no flavor surprisingly after the salad, garlic mash tasted like boxed mash. I ordered the sea bass with basmati rice in a coconut sauce. Which turned out not to be basmati rice it was a tasteless long grain rice the coconut curry sauce was bland. It was a very watery and had no coconut or curry flavors at all and the sea bass was way overcooked. To add insult to injury  the service was horrible. The waiter Rodrigo totally ignored us. Ended up having manger remove the automatic tip from our bill. Very disappointed. We will nerver go back.

This place is the best.  The place is better than other hotels on South Beach although it's definitely a 3 star.  My friend Nima didn't like it but he's gay (and by that I mean the bad kind, not the homosexual kind.)

I booked the Park Central due to its great rates and its location to the beach.  Worried a bit before getting there that I had made a mistake, but I did not!  Yay!  Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and the TV in good working condition.  And its location on Ocean Drive cannot be beat - beach right across the street and right by any type of restaurant you could ever want.  We stayed in Room 605 the first two nights, which is right next to the rooftop deck.  It wasn't too loud at all save for a child screaming in the hallways, which is a bad parenting issue, not a hotel issue.  The third night (a Friday) we stayed in 301 and that was a bit louder outside as people were up all night partying.  I recommend going to the beach - the hotel provides beach towels and beach chairs as well.  I would 100% stay here again and I am pretty picky about hotels.

It was love at first sight with me and the Park Central. I went here for spring break and the rates were so reasonable for the room we had. I loved the art deco interior of the lobby, and actually prefer it to the more pricier hotels in the area. Bc the hotel is smack dab on Ocean Drive, the beach is literally steps away, and we had the best view from our window. The bed was super comfortable, so much that we spent much of the first day in it until we forced ourselves out. The location is great bc it's close to everything, but far enough so it isn't so noisy when you actually want to sleep. Would definitely recommend the Park Central

Great location, great price and friendly staff.  clean and quaint as well.  not the most extravagant hotel in south beach, but it has a cute pool, nice rooftop area and directly across the street from the beach!  plus you get complimentary towels and beach chairs.
    I'd def stay here again!

Daniela described this hotel quite well...

We were there for quite a while and were very impressed with the hotel. It's definitely old (typical Art Deco hotel) but they've fixed it up nicely. For example, the bed is new and clean and big, but the tiles in the bathroom are pink and black and reminded me of my Grandparents' home :-)
The location cannot be beat - it's central on ocean drive, directly across from the beach, but sort of at the start of the action so it wasn't too loud or hectic when we were finally ready for bed.

Park Central gets 5 ***** for their cleanliness and location. We'd leave our room for about a half hour, and come back to a clean room already. It was great.
We also had a beach view, overlooking Ocean Drive. If you can get room 219 / 319 / 419, request it (although expect some noise as you're right on ocean drive but it wasn't anything too hectic).  It's a corner room, huge, overlooks the ocean and has lots of light and fresh air breezes.

They have live music on the weekend and it makes this place fun, elegant and hip all at the same time. We checked out the open air lounge on the top floor, but we never actually had a chance to get there - just too much to do in Miami :-)

Quick Tip - ask the concierge about local clubs - he gave us free VIP passes to a few hot clubs that saved us waiting in ridiculous lines

Decent service and checked in early which is great. The room is dark and not inviting. The bathroom is small. In terms of cleanliness, I think you can get by. If $50-$75 more dollars is not a big deal, get a room at Marriott instead.

Ok hotel.  I like the quaint, historic detail and may I add you cannot beat the location!!! We got a good deal on the hotel, but the staff was very unpleasant and the sheets in our room were dirty.  I would never stay at this hotel again.

Caveat:  The Park Central gets a five-star rating for being great at what it is.  I'm not saying it's on par with a Ritz Carlton.  But it IS right on Ocean Ave. in a prime beach spot, and has a friendly staff (great concierge as mentioned), clean, comfortable rooms with super-comfy beds -- and you can get a room for $200ish a night (as opposed to easily twice that at other spots nearby).

The lobby is chic in a simple, beachy way and the exterior is Art Deco- styled.  I must say, the hallways are more like a chintzy motel, but the rooms are just fine (we had some construction outside of ours, so I'd ask about that before you go).  The hotel offers and delivers free lounge chairs and towels for you to use while at the beach, and there is also a small guest pool outside the lobby, and a roof deck overlooking the area.

It's the closest you'll get to a bargain if you want to stay on Ocean, and although it's not luxurious, we were happy with almost every aspect of our stay and would return in a heartbeat.  We're talking about South Beach, so you're really only spending time in the room to sleep, shower or primp.  It was great to save on our accommodations and spend on everything else South Beach had to offer!

    Summary:
    1. Bad customer service
    2. Dishonest/rude workers
    3. Weird policies (cancellation)
    4. Small rooms/old and dirty feeling to them
    5. Overpriced compared to other close-by hotels

    Let's start with the basics.

The hotel is well-located in the heart of South Beach, and has a nice Art Deco look to it.  The facade of the hotel is classy unlike the other Vegas-esque hotels that line Ocean Drive.

Now here's where it get's tricky.  I signed up for a room for New Years eve until January 4th.  I landed at around 6AM New Years Eve, and immediately headed to the Park Central to see if they had rooms ready to check in to.  As expected, there weren't, but the desk was very friendly and said he'd hold onto my bags and give me a call when it was ready.  He pointed me to various places to go enjoy.  I asked him how long it would take, and he said as soon as someone checked out of a room he would get it ready.

I walked around for a couple hours and headed back to the hotel after not getting a single call.  I checked back in with the desk boy and he said if I sat in the lobby he'd talk to me in a few minutes.  I waited...and he didn't talk to me.  And waited more.  And I finally walked up, and -- get this -- he had gotten off his shift and someone new was up.  This new person had no idea I was waiting for someone to let me into my room.  So I explained my situation, and she said she'd let me know as soon as something was available. Sigh.

So I sat in the lobby for 4 more hours and waited in misery (I'd just been on a red eye) as I watched group after group check out of the hotel.  I figured one of them *must* have a room that I can go into, but instead I just kept waiting.  Finally one of my  friends shows up (he had a separate room at the hotel), walks up, and they tell him his room is ready. WHAT? He checks in, grabs his room, and the front desk woman looks at me embarrassed and says that my room will be ready soon.  We go up to my friend's room, and within 5 minutes they call up and tell us that my room is ready.  Sigh.

That wasn't the end of it.  I asked (out of sheer frustration of waiting in the lobby for like 6 hours) if I could cancel my reservation or at least the last few nights.  I was told rather convincingly that no cancellations were allowed "near the holidays".  My friends staying at nearby hotels had no problem canceling/moving around their service.

I then go up to my own room, and it was embarrassingly small.  It was essentially the size of the bed and nothing else.  There was a tiny table in the corner of the room.  The furnishings and room itself were very old. It was not worth anywhere near the price I was paying (and I had some friends staying at a nearby hotel for about $20 more.  For that, they got a suite with a brand new kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom).

It gets worse.  Two nights before I was checking out, I spilled a dark drink on a pair of very nice jeans.  My mistake, of course, but that's what dry cleaning service is for, right?  So I called the front desk the next morning, and they said same-day service was done for the day.  My flight was the next day at around 2, and she said she'd check if they could get it back before then. A few minutes later she calls back and she says "if you drop it off now, you'll have it by midmorning tomorrow".  Great.  I asked if she was 100% sure, because my flight was leaving, and she said yes.  So I dropped off the pants, went on my way, and the next morning came around.  No call from the front desk, so I ring them up.  I explain the situation and the guy at the front desk tells me there's no way he can get it back for me by noon (when I was planning to leave for my flight).  I tell him that I don't understand, that's the opposite of what I was told yesterday.  He looks into it and realizes he is wrong, but that the pants had not yet arrived.  He called the delivery company, and I waited as long as I could before heading out to my flight.  I left my address for them and they promised to send it to me, but I'm not feeling that lucky.

One annoyance was that the made service seemed to ignore our "do not disturb" sign.  If you've ever been in south beach and spent the night out, you know that the nights there end at 6AM.  You generally want to sleep in as late as possible on those, and to do that you put up the do not disturb sign.  But if the maid ignores it and bangs on your door at 9AM, and then opens when you don't answer it, you get very annoyed.   That's exactly what happened here on two of the nights.

Lastly, my friend who had a room adjacent to mine was constantly harassed by the doorman/host.  He was rude and accused my friend of "slamming the doors" (the rooms all have self-closing doors) and "trying to break things".  Are you serious?  We're all young, but we're adults and deserve to be treated with respect.

    So all in all:
    1. Bad customer service
    2. Dishonest workers
    3. Weird policies (cancellation)
    4. Small rooms/old and

Perfect location in the middle of everything on Ocean Avenue. It's a classy establishment with great service. The room overlooked the Atlantic and Ocean Avenue and was without a nightclub (read good for sleeping).  The room was a bit old (I thought pink bathrooms were only found in old houses in Western PA!), but 100% functional. The flat-screen TV on the wall seemed a bit out of place, but the bed was really comfortable.

Downstairs, the lobby and bar are decorated with stylish black and whites and illuminated with soft orange light all night. There is a pool and a roof-top lounge area, which offers great nighttime views.

A word of advice, if you are thinking about booking a room, call the hotel directly. I love travelocity, expedia and kayak, but calling directly netted a better price in this instance.

I know it's not a 5 star hotel, but this place deserves a lot of credit.  It has a wonderful quaint charm and the staff is incredibly responsive and kind.  I spoke one-on-one with quite a few staff members and every one was kind and looking to be as accommodating as possible.

The room/bathroom were clean, everything worked, and although the walls were thin, the air conditioning/fan units were loud enough that it produced enough white noise to drown out any street/room noise.  I couldn't check in early, but they took my phone number and were responsive about getting me in a room as soon as they could, even upgrading me to get me in faster (they saw how pale my skin was and I think wanted to get me out of the sun).  When I had to sadly depart, they made sure a cab was there waiting to get me to the airport on time.  Even with a larger budget, I wouldn't think twice about staying here again.  Too much charm for too good of a price.

Breakfast on 6//6/2010: 2 yoghurts / granola with cup of fruits + 1 coffee + 2 diet cokes (small) = $45! (with tip already added!) - no refill on the coke / $5 the glass!

OK so I understand that they are preserving this art deco of this Hotel and yes it does feel like a B&B, in fact the there is a B&B right next door. I was a bit bummed at how small the rooms were and that they do not have a kitchenette. I was told by the staff that its because a kichenette is too dangerous in that building.

I was traveling with my boss and business associate. We all booked our rooms for the same days but apparently I got the short stick......grrrrr

They said that their room was big and in the front part of the hotel. The area they sent me to was all the way in the back and it looked like and add on. The carpet was terrible looking and made my head spin. There were two beds in my room and it felt cramped. I dont understand why their bedroom was better since we paid the same flipping price...well the company did at least.

The only good part was the location. I could just walk right across the street and chill out on the beach for most of my Monday off work. The restaurants, cafe's and stores are next door and of walking distance.

Another downfall is that if you have a rental car (which is not recommended unless you really need on- and i did) then you will not find parking outside and if you do you can only be there for 2-4 hours or you have to get up and move your car by 7 am.  They have a parking garage that costs you about $10-20 a night.

Like I said earlier the best part was the location. Other than that I have seen better for the amount that we paid.

I guess I would go back but I will make sure to ask for a better room. And yes I'm a gold card member.

I loved this hotel from the very moment we arrived.  The bustling sidewalk restaurant Quinn's outside, the art deco decor in the beautiful lobby, the friendly staff...it was a great first impression.

Ok, so our room was a tad outdated and small with a "great" view directly into the apartments right next door, but I did not get the "bed and breakfast" vibe previous reviewers had mentioned.   The room was clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the massive TV provided much entertainment as we nursed our hangover in the mornings.

The staff was great on our trip as well.  On our second night, the power went out on the block of the hotel and when we returned the front desk was handing out flashlights to all the guests to make sure they could get to their rooms.  They were also helpful in suggesting where to go out.

You absolutely cannot beat the location of the Park Central.  The hotel is right on Ocean Drive, directly across from the beach (where towels and chairs are provided free of charge to hotel guests).  We were right in the thick of all the SoBe action yet somehow our room was very quiet at night.  (I was awakened every morning to noise from the maids in the hallways, however).

Another great feature was the beautiful roof deck.  The chairs are extremely comfortable and it was a great hideaway when the beach was gotten too hot or windy.  It was a nice romantic spot for my boyfriend and I and a bottle of wine when the power went out.  Now it is providing a peaceful place as we wait for our flight and I write this review.  That's another great thing, WIFI!  So helpful as we planned our nights out in Miami.

We couldn't have been happier with our hotel choice.  Impeccable customer service, great location, and the wonderful art deco feel.  We cannot wait to come back!

It's obvious by the prices that this place is not a 5 star hotel, what's not so obvious is the incredible value this place offers. The location simply can't be beat, across the street from the ocean on Ocean Drive, walking distance to everything, and it has a pool. I did not have an ocean view room but how much time do you really spend in your room when in Miami? The room itself was up to date (not state of the art) and it was rather small, but nothing crazy, it did accommodate a king size bed, and it was very clean. The hallways and elevator seemed a bit out of date, but that didn't bother me any. Overall, the hotel was very nice and incredibly reasonably priced.

Affordable, clean and well located. Really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. Our room was not large but was clean and comfortable to sleep in. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be direclty in South Beach but does not want to pay the higher rates of the National, Delano, etc.

We had beach access and our stay included two beach chairs and beach towels each day.

Would recommend you ask to have a room at the back of the hotel as Ocean Drive can get loud in the evenings.

This review is for their happy hour only. They have a decent priced happy hour: $4.95 for select appetizers. I had the hot wings and artichoke dip. I really enjoyed the hot wings, which were spicy and the sauce was on the creamy side. I was not a big fan of the artichoke dip since it was caked with harden cheese. My chips kept breaking at every attempt at the dip. The waiter suggested for me to order a cappuccino with a shot of bailey's, which was more like a double shot. However, I should of asked how much it was gonna cost me since the bailey's came out to $14. Lesson learned!

I booked the Park Central hotel through my Liberty travel agent. I loved the location and when you first walk into the lobby its breathtaking. They had these wooden ceiling fans and the staff was very pleasant. The greatest thing I loved about this hotel was the room felt like home. It had the big bay windows where you can open the windows and feel the South Beach air.

CON: the pool was small but I wasnt concerned because the beach was right across the street

Another con was the walls were extremely thin and there was a "happy" couple next door they would not stop going at it lol

These would not stop me from staying here again...

    Think "bed and breakfast".

If you haven't been to South Beach, "art deco" is their thing.  So, with this hotel, they are preserving the original style of architecture.  For me, it felt just like home, as my house was built in the 40's.

The bed and TV and shower head were the only upgraded items in the room...but that was just fine with me because those were the only things that needed to be upgraded.  Everything else was an attempt to preserve the original architecture.  As I said...it was a bed and breakfast kind of feel with bamboo table and chairs, old dressers and 1940 pink bathroom.

The front desk at check-in was superior in professionalism.  The lobby and bar area were classy and welcoming.  There is a small pool area just outside the lobby, but the beach is much more inviting.  The hotel provides complimentary beach towels and complimentary beach chairs are waiting for you at the beach.

Check out the rooftop patio....very cool.  The only thing missing up there is the pool!  I guess structurally, they couldn't put it there.

The location is perfect in the center of everything!

The hotel includes self parking and provides you with a parking pass for a garage on the next block.

My only complaint is that you might hear your neighbor's door slam because the wind catches the door when you least expect it....this happened quite a few times during the night., but once I climbed into the super-soft plush white linens, it was nothing but zzzz's for me.  =)

Perfect location!  Right across from the beach and smack dab in the middle of TONS of restaurants!  We flew in from LA and took a cab to Park Central from the Miami airport ( I believe it was $35 total).  Everybody at check in was kind and friendly and the hotel room was more than okay.  Not glitzy and glamorous by any means but not bad at all...i am picky too!  Room was clean, comfy and safe..dont need much more.  We went to the Park Central restaurant for a quick lunch before heading to the beach (your hotel room comes with free beach towels and beach chairs too) and everything was really good and fairly priced..except for the $42 beer margarita we got!!  My husband and I only got to stay for 1 day before we headed to the Bahamas for our honeymoon, but we will DEF be back to Miami and would stay at the Park Central Hotel in a heartbeat again!

Perfect location in south beach! Right across from the beach, tons of restaurant in walking distance, and the shopping district was right behind it. Room was nice, bathroom could use updating but the hotel wasn't where I focused my vacay. All in all, no complaints except for parking. There's a self park garage for $16/day for hotel guests right behind the hotel or valet for $28/day when self park spots weren't available (so be sure to check in as early as possible to get a self park access card).  Will def stay here again next time I plan a vacay in Miami!!!

Beautiful Art Deco building with seemingly nothing changed since it was built in 1937.  Elegant lobby, lovely pool, beautifully equipped rooms with everything one needs for comfort:  extra pillows, lots of towels, tv, air and kudos to the Park Central for free wifi!  I'm so tired of being charged for every nicety.  From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed, assisted and cared for.  In addition to everything else the rates are reasonable and the location is nonpareil, smack in the middle of South Beach.  It doesn't get betters than this.

So for the price of the hotel, I think it's a good place to stay.

    Pros:
    1. Location, location, location! It's right on Ocean drive and so easy to walk around. There is a Walgreen's around the corner if you need water, sunscreen etc. It's close to shops, restaurants & beach. What else can you ask for on vaca?
    2. Beach Service: So I like how your stay comes with 2 beach chairs. It was so nice not to have to get all sandy while lying out. Normally those chairs rent for $10/chair.
    3. Rooftop Lounge: Totally awesome! There are some lounge chairs upstairs. Totally nice to just chill and hang out.

    Cons:
    1. Room: The room is dated. The doors/key system is a little weird. They were definitely going for a tiki/beachy feel but they definitely need to update things like the carpet, furniture fixtures etc. The bathroom though was fine which is super important.
    2. Concierge service: They get only an ok in my book. We wanted to book a shuttle to get to the airport and stopped by there during the day and nobody was there. We were told to come back later. When we did, we waited again and when we were finally helped, I didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling that you get from good customer service...

I think for the price, you get all the things that are needed for a relaxing beach vacation. If you don't care about staying in a super nice hotel etc., then definitely come here.

I happened to stay in this hotel last week.. Except the location of the hotel.. everything else sucks big time.. Tiny room with a wired smell.. did not have enough place to keep my bags itself.. No Parking and you are forced to opt for valet parking which is $28.. and the hotel is very costly compared to its amenities and service..
    Will never stay again..

The Park Central is what it is; by the park and central to the South Beach strip.

When we arrived at the hotel, we were a little surprised by the interior. The pictures on their website as well as those we had seen on hotels.com did not match what we were witnessing. Not to say that the hotel is run down, but the pictures for the most part are always taken at night and they took shots of the best room here. (I will admit that after looking at the photos we were expecting something a tad more magical and so we felt let down is all)

Our room was run down. It's not gross, but it definitely needs to be renovated or something. It feels a little dodgy.

I'm not trying to say it's a bad place but my husband and I were bagging on the place all week....

"The closet looks like where David Carradine died."

"This is what the tower of terror looked like before lightning struck the tower."

"I don't think anyone is staying here because the elevator is always waiting for us."

I will say that I would give their parking garage system 5 stars. You pay for a pre paid card that allows you into the garage lot. So much nicer than dealing with your wallet in the car or trying to find parking on the street.

We probably won't be back (we'll probably just splurge next time) but it's not awful.

park central hotel totally ruined our holiday. here i share my unhappy experience as following:
1, one of  receptionest is very rude and very bad attitude, she destroyed our mood in the first day;(later i relieze that this hotel recruit this kind of employee for some purperse-fight to quest)
    2, there is a bar at first door in this hotel, the music keep very loud all night untill morning even 4:30, and they start breakfast music at 6:00 in the morning. although we used ear block, took the sleep pill but still couldn't sleep. call their reseptionest who promised would  lower the music but nothing happened, they just cheated guest;
    3,after suffering whole night nightmare we feel badly headache, so we expect have some nice breakfast refresh our mood. we go to the bar in this hotel for breakfast because its very convenient. we wait 15 mins for water, another 27 mints for bread and egg. even worse, the food is really really lower than everage level;
    4, parking fee 28 dollars per day, they ever never mentioned to you in advance;

Fantastic hotel. Fantastic service. Small but very clean rooms and especially bathrooms. Hotel staff excellent. Golf cart service to your car. Loved that. Very stressed out when we arrived because we had to find another hotel on short notice because the boulevard hotel was disgusting and crawling with roaches. It was my friend and I birthday weekend (january 5,2013)and college pro bowl to top things off and everything was booked. When I told keysha and Nekila (at the front deak lobby)what had happened they couldn't believe it and politely listened to my rant. Keysha went out of her way to accommodate us and even gave us a birthday discount! Awesome!. She changed the whole mood around. I will always give them my business because of keysha. Fantastic hotel and staff all the way around.
Hotel bar was good to. Very very pricey drinks at $15 a pop but two made me comfortable. Decor was beautiful and they were the only place that still had the Christmas tree in the lobby on January 5th. I loved that too.
    Food was delicious too.

Paper thin walls.  Stayed on a Saturday with a friend and had to be extra quiet because the neighbor decided to go to be at 9pm and kept banging in the adjoining door when my friend and I would talk.  No, not yell, just simply talking.  We ended up whispering to each other to communicate. No fun there.  But good location a d we weren't in the room that long so it's just OK I guess.  I won't be back any time soon.

5 stars: location location location. Directly across from beach on Ocean Ave. Service is fabulous, although not the friendliest on the phone. Concierge is extremely helpful and always presented with a smile.
4 stars: our room was in the back of the building, with 100% no view, except of the rooms in the hotel next to ours. I give this 4 stars, bc I swear we had the quietest room in all of South Beach. We heard absolutely nothing from the streets, even after the Miami Heat won their playoff game!
3 stars: older building without central air (except maybe lobby and restaurant), so the hallways are super humid, despite ceiling fans running all day. Wall units are available in the room, and there is a ceiling fan. Ours seemed a bit possessed, as the light went on in the middle of the night 2x while we were there. The rooms need a bit of a facelift, especially the bathrooms.
1 star: beds. AH. super uncomfortable, old mattresses, and the anti-hotel pillows that are flat and hard.  You could also hear your neighbors through the bathroom walls/vents. And I don't mean you could hear them quietly, bc I could have participated in their conversation. If you shut the bathroom door you barely heard them though.

Overall impression: For the price and location I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to friends who don't want to pay $$$ at a hotel (save it for the restaurants and drinks!). If you are looking for a beautiful room with a beautiful view, and quiet, then this is not the place for you (unless you get our quiet room). But if you are planning on staying out all day and just need a place to sleep in a fabulous location, then this is your choice. It also comes with 2 chair rentals on the beach.. WOOHOO.

It's an no-brainer that I would stay here again when I next come to Miami.  For what you are paying, it is a great value.  It's clean, simple, and conveniently located on Ocean Drive, across the street from Lummus Park and the beach.

The room was on the small side, but very clean.  The AC was strong, and the room also had a ceiling fan.  While the hallway was a bit outdated, it really didn't matter to us.  I'd rather they invest in the rooms, and not up the rates due to hallway renovations.  We were in the back building on the second floor, but did not hear any noise from the street or other rooms.

They provide chairs and towels on the beach for free (umbrellas were an extra charge if desired).

The pool is small as to be expected at this location, but was also very clean and blocked from the street by a fence and thick shrubbery.

We booked  through Expedia about a month in advance, and got a good deal.

My friend and I chose this hotel mostly based on affordability from a discounted travel package we received on a third party website. We were more than pleasantly surprised with our experience. We've both stayed on Ocean Drive and in the art deco boutique hotels with less than sub par experiences. This hotel was more impressive than we anticipated. Arriving 5 hours before check-in, the accommodating staff found a room available so that we can begin our vacation at ease. The room was spacious, clean and the bed SO COMFORTABLE. We didn't mind the tacky carpeting. There was a nice sized flat screen TV (that we never turned on), a nice bathroom with a wide range of complimentary toiletries and an iPod dock. Partial view of the ocean and an air conditioner that worked very well! There was complimentary fresh fruit every morning as we borrowed beach towels and headed across the street to our beach chairs (which come with the room!). The staff, proximity to all our activities and the overall experience made this hotel one that I would go back to. Thumbs up!

Trying to choose a hotel for our first trip to SoBe was daunting...seems like you either pay out the wazoo for a luxury resort or take your  chances on a lower priced dive.  I am very pleased to report that you will pay a very reasonable price and want for absolutely NOTHING at the Park Central.

The location is unbeatable, smack in the middle of Lummus Park in a beautiful and distinctive art deco building.  Beach is literally "just across the street" and you get complimentary beach towels and beach chairs during your stay (saves you room in your suitcase and at least $20/day chair rentals for 2).

The staff were all superb, genuinely nice and willing to help with anything you need.  They gave us complimentary early check-in when we arrived early in the day after a cruise.  They were also very understanding when Hurricane Isaac forced us to leave a day early and we were not charged.  You are the best Rudy!  The outdoor pool area and rooftop deck were well kept and fun to use, really nice to have onsite.

As a vintage hotel, this has some unique design aspects, namely un-airconditioned hallways (but there are ceiling fans) and cool retro elevator doors that you need to open manually.  Don't expect a modern, cookie-cutter hotel and enjoy the 1930's era style.

Our partial ocean view was SO comfortable...king size bed (the only art deco hotel we found in SoBe to offer this), ceiling fan, flat screen TV, and ocean front windows that opened to let in the sea breeze.  AC was central and sort of loud, but kept us very cool and had the added bonus of drowning out the traffic noise on Ocean Drive, we slept soundly.  Bathroom is small (again, of the era and not modern) with excellent water pressure and temp control.   Complimentary toiletries were very nice.  In room safe a great plus.  Complimentary robes very comfy!

Only possible short coming was that the WiFi was a bit spotty in Building 2.  But it was complimentary and worked great in the lobby.  Loved the iPhone dock alarm clock in the room.

If you want to experince true South Beach style, skip the soul-less resorts and try an art deco gem.  If, like me, your significant other knows every line of Scarface, you will be a hero if you book the Park Central hotel :-)

As a last minute choice to a very popular weekend to visit miami this place was a good choice. Right on the beach and very authentic south beach it was a nice. The staff was amazing. I can't say enough about them. Very friendly and informative and helpful. Great job guys! The room was nice enough, just small. I don't think i'd stay here again - we wanted to be closer to Lincoln street but not bad.

This is a very insensitive hotel. I didnt really stay here yet but I hope I never get the chance to. We booked a weekend here but due to unforseen circumstances, we are unable to attend. We begged them to get a refund but they are sticking by the mantra, "we have a business to run." Honestly, one of the most disgusting attitudes ever. Our friend lost his life, but they can't look past it. They want us to provide a death certificate!!! That will sure go over well with my friends parents. They lost a child, but will provide me with the death certificate in order for me to save a few bucks. I don't even feel comfortable asking for one. Horrible customer service from top to bottom. Thanks for nothing!

Great location and they provide chairs on the beach.  People are really friendly and the mojitos are some of the best in Sth Beach.  The room is small and but good.  We were in room 303 and it had the WORST shower head in the United States. I reported it when I left and not before as I was having to much fun.

Don't over look the restaurant as it had some of the best Stone Crabs in town. I look forward to returning.  The staff really made this a fun place to stay for us.  We are in our late 40s and they seemed to be having a lot of fun.

You can't get any better location than this in Miami! We loved the hotel because it was smack dab on the Ocean front and in the middle of everything. You can walk up to Lincoln Ave for food and shopping or south for some good clubs and bars.

The hotel is a bit older but well kept. The rooms are big and spacious with large windows. They did a great job of cleaning our room each day even though we left it a complete mess... not to mention through out all our empty alcohol bottles!

Taking location, price and service all into account I would definitely come back.

5 stars because of the hotel value given the location.

Rooms are clean and decent size.  Not too big but big enough for 2.  Price is very reasonable given the location in the heart of South Beach on Ocean Ave.  The guys working the concierge and door are really nice and helpful.  The folks at the front desk not so much.

Pool area is adequate....nothing spectacular but again, for the price a great value.  Room includes 2 beach chairs on the beach.

Second time staying here.  Would stay again.

I stayed here last week and was very pleased with the hotel. The location is ideal, the rooms are big, the pool is bigger than it looks and the staff is very, very pleasant to deal with. I was in the main hotel with an ocean view on the third floor. The room was clean, a good size and had a great view. Is the hotel dated? Yes, but not in a terrible way. The furniture is a bit old, the bathroom did need some work (especially the tub) but for the price, you really can't beat this hotel. You are a three minute walk to the beach, surrounded by all cafes, bars and stores and in the middle of everything.

I stayed here for a long girls weekend, and had a fantastic time! The location is perfect- right across the street from the beach and in the middle of all the ocean drive action. The rooms are spacious, bright and clean (although the bathrooms are a little small-who cares!), the roof deck is perfect for an afternoon nap or just lounging, and the lobby bar is great for a quick pre-dinner drink, they even let us bring cocktails back to our room to enjoy while getting ready. I can't say enough about the Park Central staff- everyone we came across was friendly, pleasant and helpful. The price was more than reasonable for the amenities and great service!

I would definitely recommend this hotel and would not consider staying anywhere else next time I am back in South Beach.

Stayed here for Labor Day Weekend vacation with some friends. Really nice clean and quite place right one Ocean Drive, which was perfect for getting everywhere at a walking distance or short cab ride. Everyone was really nice. The room was small but cozy.
The sun deck was nice for tanning when you don't feel like laying out on the beach.
I really enjoyed my stay there. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because some of the men working maintenance or whatever they do were making my friend and I feel very uncomfortable with their obvious disrobing stares!

As Josh C. said, this might not be a 5 star hotel, but this place deserve a lot of credit.  Park Central offers charm, I dig the art deco style, the staff is great, it is extremely well priced, and I couldn't ask for a better location.

    PROS:
*Early checkin without requesting it-- My hubby and I arrived on a Thursday morning around 10am.  Check in is not until 3 pm (I think); however, when we arrived the front desk shared that our room was ready!
*Location, location, location--- P.C. is on Ocean Drive, in the heart of South Beach... everything anyone could ever need is within walking distance.
*Beach Service-- Staying at P.C. includes use of beach chair on the beach and towels.  (Beach chairs usually rent for $10 each, cash only, on the beach.)
*Pool-- There is a cute pool for non sand lovers
    *Wi-fi-- Included and reliable
*House Keeping-- I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the house keeping services.  In lieu of disturbing guests, house keeping waits for guests to place the "maid" tag on our doors.  Beds are made, linens are changed (when needed), fresh towels are provided everyday.  I appreciate the fact that I did not have to ask for towels once!
*Staff-- Every staff member that we interacted with was pleasant, smiling and extremely accommodating.
*Rooftop-- Used for movies, yoga, happy hour
    *IPod Dock Clock/Radio in rooms

    CONS:
*A/C Unit noise-- The A/C Unit was a little loud.  The noise wasn't constant, but more sporadic.  It was not a tremendous inconvenience.
*Bathroom Size-- The bathroom was small

For everything included, this is an exceptional spot to stay at when in South Beach.  I can't see myself staying anywhere else.

There really isn't anything special about this hotel - they don't have the bells and whistles that more upgraded hotels have, however the service was always friendly for me and I've been staying here since 2009.  I would come to South Beach at least twice a year and stay at the Park Central for my anniversary.  Last year, while booking my trip, I noticed that the pricing was $150+ difference than what I normally paid for June. I contacted the Sales dept. and they helped adjust the price, it was still slightly more expensive than I used to pay, but it wasn't bad at all.  They were always friendly and willing to make any accommodation possible to make my stay more enjoyable from free upgrades and discounts - whatever it was that I needed, they made sure it was available for me, obviously within reason.  :)

I was recently trying to book my trip to 2014 and noticed the prices were not up for June yet.  I contacted my usual sales contact person, and I was informed that the hotel was sold and now under new management.  She gave me a new reservation specialist to speak with, but new management said  the prices would be up 6 months in advance, to check back in December and that the prices will be higher than what I normally pay.

Iryna, the Revenue Manager, contacted me via phone after seeing a post on their FB page re: a reservation and said she was willing to accommodate me in whatever way possible.  Then another person called me and said he would try to do whatever he could to accommodate my stay for June and he would email me back, but delete my post on FB (bad publicity, I guess?).  He never called me back, so I called Iryna directly, and she said that the price she could give me was almost $1k for the weekend that I wanted to stay there (that's $500 more than what I normally paid under their previous management), and at that time they would be going under some renovations, so it would be noisy.  She said these were just temporary price quotes and they could potentially go down and then she could see what she could do for me, but at this point I feel disappointed that they aren't trying to retain loyal customers of Park Central?  As I mentioned, this place doesn't have all the bells and whistles other hotels have, it does have a great location, and she said they were going to be undergoing some renovations at the time of my stay and still want to quote a price that is $500+ more than I normally pay.  I don't think so.

Looks like I'm going to have to find another place to stay.  :(  Looks like I'll have to break tradition and book something through airbnb.

Oh, and their internet wifi does not work with Windows 7!!!  Ugh!

My wife an I were there two years ago and had a fantastic time at the PC Hotel!  Located right in the "action" of the Ocean Drive scene, the PC offers something to everyone.  Lummis Park beach is located directly across from the main entrance.  The hotel provides beach towels and chairs to its guests free of charge.  The rooms are nicely appointed with comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and amenities one would expect from a more upscale hotel.  The top roof level of the hotel has lounge chairs, umbrellas, and provides an excellent vista of South Beach!  Movies are shown frequently and parties are hosted regularly.  Additionally, a pool is located on property facing Ocean Drive. If you want to experience the South Beach vibe, I highly recommend the Park Central Hotel, you will not be disappointed.  We're definitely coming back!  See my Pix and you'll see what I mean...

Got this hotel for a good price on the Hotel Tonight app and it was in an excellent location. Other than that, I don't think I'd stay here again. This is a 2 star quality hotel for a 3 to 4 star price. To start, there was a bit of a mix up at the front desk with the reservation and there was a general feel of disorganzation. The issue was fixed and I was told I would be getting a room upgrade (of which claim I was very incredulous). The decor and furnishings were very outdated - even the window in the room opened all the way out! I could have jumped into the pool if I wanted to. The ice machine was broke, the phone didn't exactly work - there were just lots of little things... Perhaps the strangest feature of the building was the low ceiling in the hallway that was lined with ceiling fans. Had I been a few inches taller, I probably would have gotten scalped. A weird experience but we were only there for a night. By the way, I was told the hotel is closing down for (much needed) renovations!

Worst experience of my life! Will never stay here or recommend this hotel to anyone I know that is going to Miami. Staff is unprofessional and does not have anything together. I put in multiple request everyday I stayed here (3 nights) and It took me more than 3 times to ask for any of them to be accomolished. Power in room went out for one whole day and front desk can't get anything done without a manager present. They also had me booked in room next to another room that was having construction done in it everyday from 8am till 8pm, woke up every morning to the loud noise of hammers and saws, I also got the pleasant suprise two mornings in a row with a machine table saw  and cords in front of my room Worst $1100 bucks I have ever spent in my life! Only pleasant part of my stay was the maid.

I give this hotel three stars for location alone. The hotel is under renovation, because it DEFINITELY needs it, and it looks dreary. The hallways are dimly lit, exposed pipes, bathrooms is like something from the 1950s. The rooftop deck is not fully opened. The elevator is creepy (doors bang close and the elevator looks like something straight out of the tower of terror). HOWEVER, the location of the hotel is amazing. It is away from the loud noise of the bars and clubs and just a short walk to the beach entrance. The staff was also very nice. If you don't care about fancy and just need a room to sleep, the Park Central is for you.

Much thanks to the Park Central.  The Beacon hotel lost our reservation due to a "glitch" and the desk at Park Central was able to accommodate us.  They are closing in a few days for renovations and were very short staffed.  The room was clean and looked out to the beach.  I will be back to see the new Park Central!  I am sure it will be 5 stars!

I'm giving this hotel 3 stars for the location alone.  I'm giving it another star for the price, and another for the service.  I wanted a relatively inexpensive room near the water in the heart of South Beach.  This hotel was great and I was very pleased with my stay.

The bathroom was very small as some of the reviews stated, but tolerable.  The bed was very firm, so if you like plush beds, you might have an issue. Also, the rooms and hallways were not updated and in need of renovation.  Everything was clean and well maintained, just very dated.

If you're looking for a hotel, you're probably taking into consideration 3 main things: Low Price, Location, and Quality. You can generally find hotels that excel in 2 of the 3 categories, but not all three.   The Park Central combines a great price and an amazing location with above average quality.

For those reviewers who seem to be nit-picking about little stuff, pay more and you'll get more.  For those who just want a well located, clean hotel right across from the ocean in the heart of South Beach, this is the best option.

The service was great, check in was a breeze! Our concierge Derrick was really nice, took our bags right up, gave us some info where to party and even gave us VIP passes for a club! Our room was on the 4th floor, I paid extra for partial ocean view which was a total freaking rip off!!! Our room was facing the bld nxt door, to see the ocean you had to put you head out the window and turn left.... So that was a waste of money! The hallway was stuffy and didn't smell fresh (didn't stink) just stuffy & old. Worst wifi ever, some times it worked some times it didn't which irritated me, guess that's why it was free.

The room & bathroom was a decent size, just old. Lobby and Pool area were nice.
Fantastic location right across from the beach.  If you're looking for luxury this is not for you, pay more someplace else!

If you're looking for someplace cool just to sleep and you're going to party it's not bad.
Not sure if I'd stay here again....

I figured I would pick up our 2 drink tab, well yeah, it was 49 bux . I didn't tip , but I don't feel bad. Idk why anyone would buy a 19 dollar mojito with a 7 dollar service fee.. Whatever that means..
My coconut mojito was way too sweet and my boyfriend's mojito was so strong tasting, almost unable to drink and really not tasty or balanced like a drink should be.

And yeah it was "beach front" but you can't even see the beach/ I was inside sitting at a bar. No Bueno. Won't be coming back because of the ridiculous prices .

Ps the pizza oven behind the bar was making it too hot to stay inside at the bar (for even 1 quick drink)

This is a review for the restaurant only.

We had lunch on the sidewalk patio (650 Ocean Drive) and it was very good. We were just passing through, not hotel guests so we weren't sure if it was a trap, but starving!  The service was good.  The mahi-mahi club with fries was good quality and filling.

The frozen drinks were excellent. The margarita with Patron is nice and strong!  They try to upsell you on the size because the "happy hour" gets you two for one, but the 16oz size (smallest) is plenty for one person ($16 gets you enough for two during happy hour, which never seems to end). I saw other people with giant 32 oz drinks struggling to finish them.

It is also a good spot to people watch, and a little less hectic than the sports bars further up the strip.  If you sit on the sidewalk there will be a lot of traffic, and the servers have the second job of reeling them in.

This hotel has a great facade and really does fit the Art Deco vibe of south beach. The location is really amazing, right on ocean drive and on the beach, walking distance to just about everything on south beach.

The rooms are large, and the bathroom was also quite nice for a 1930's era hotel. The window was small and placed in the corner of the room which is certainly a design flaw (why wouldn't you maximise the view of the beach? There's one lift, it's a bit noisy and being Miami, there are guests coming and going all through the night and early morning.

The lobby is a bit dull, as is the pool area, but I'm told they're undergoing a renovation soon. Concierge was also a bit lifeless/disinterested/zombie. The hotel does whatever they need to in order to get by, but really aren't making any effort to win new business and they simply rely on the excellent location. If you can get a good rate then stay here, but with a little extra $$$ you could probably stay somewhere with a whole lot of life to it!

what a great surprise! booked third party but they still let us check in over 2 hours early. rooftop sundeck woop woop! heated pool right on ocean drive to boot! very cool art deco style. nice toiletries and great fitness room which included abundant free weights. location was perfect and daily valet parking service not as expensive as one would expect in the heart of south beach.
