The Setai in Miami Beach, FL

The Setai is an intimate, serene oceanfront resort in the heart of South Beach. Its design vision artfully combines the rich architectural history of the neighborhood and its cultural diversity with the International Art Deco movement, particularly its influence in Asia.

The Art Deco landmark building was originally built between 1936 - 1938 as the famed Dempsey Vanderbilt Hotel. Next to it is our 40-story glass tower that surpasses all around it in elevation, views and design.
The Setai was voted as the #1 hotel on Miami Beach in 2013 by U.S. World & News Report and the #1 Best Hotel in Miami and Miami Beach, as well as the #2 Best Hotel in Florida by Conde Nast Traveler magazine's 2013 "Reader's Choice Awards."

Established in 2014.

Cuisine of the Mediterranean "Sun Coast"

The Restaurant at The Setai invites you  to experience an entirely new menu, created from a vision of Executive Chef Mathias Gervais.

Our new Restaurant menu features various cuisines and traditional flavors of Europe's "Sun Coast," inclusive of the Mediterranean regions of Spain, Italy, the South of France and Provence. The Restaurant's classic Spanish cooking technique of grilling "a la plancha" fortifies and extracts the versatility of flavors and aromas of these regional Mediterranean ingredients to their fullest potential.

I sunbathed on the beach in luxuriously padded lounge chairs with courtesy towels and on-point service.  My friend's apartment has a panoramic view of the ocean and miami beach.  And the restaurant is as good as any that you will find on the beach - a blend of aisian, eastern and italian food - 4 star food, 5 star overall

Amazing hotel. Every detail is so debautifull. The restaurant is amazing also, very easy going, but very expensive. Expect at least $150 per person with wine. But if you are on a date, and you really need to impress. This is the place to go to. Fabulous service, great decoration. Down to every detail.

Is there need for another 5 stars? Well, yes. Why not? This is a Zen paradise. Those pools are so inviting I wanted to grab my expensive martini, cross my legs and ohm right there at the waters edge. In my heels.

Exudes luxury.  Most people are very dressed up.  The bar and open air inner courtyard is very nice at night.  Softer music (DJ) with people lounging around the low connected geometric reflecting pool in the inner courtyard.  Asian theme.  You can just walk in like the Delano.  I think the feel is a little different at this place--more refined.  $15 cocktails.

I'd have to say that the atmosphere and decoration are great, the wine list is impeccable, but the food is simply not that great. When reading the menu you feel excited with all the flavors and possibilities, but later you find yourself dissapointed when discovering that the great tasty flavors expected are not there. I think this is a great place to go and have great drinks, but simply ignore the possibility of dining here.

This is THE place to stay at the moment in Miami.  Great location near other hotels and clubs; beautiful pool (and guests); great food. Its uber trendy with a lot of well to do folk who stay there. At check in you get a table with a tropical fruit juice and a hot towel. The room had all the gadgets you would expect even a coffee machine that makes cappuccino's. Fabulous!!
The pool is split into 3 and there are loads of areas tucked away if you want privacy.  Great hotel. Unlike other "IT" hotels that are long on looks but short on substance and attention to detail, the Setai is well done all around.  By the way the spa is amazing!  The Setai Ayurvedic Facial is the way to go as far as facials and for the massages, the Balinese Massage is what the Doctor ordered!

They also had a rarity for Miami (and perhaps the US in general) -- great service.

Amenity Highlights -- Pets Allowed, Fitness Center & Spa, Babysitting/Child Services, Bar/Lounge, No Smoking Rooms/Facilities

The Setai, South Beach (Jonathan Wright) [from the 2008 Wine & Food Festival]- Peking duck and truffle dumplings, served with enoki mushrooms in a Peking duck broth - $1,500 worth of black truffles, very complex, just heavenly, better than dimsum in chinatown

The Setai is one of the nicest hotels in America, however for what I spent for my suite I would have expected a higher level of service.  The hotel is amazing, the pool is amazing, the drinks by the pool are amazing.  The Setai is the place to stay in Miami, if you can afford it I highly suggest it.

not much to say here, as we only went for a quick drink.

the ambiance is lovely....the lobby had an unbelievably gorgeous flower display that i simply cannot get out of my head.

the pools are beautiful and offset the dark interior and design of the hotel.  I had The Phoenix cocktail -- a mix of vodka, lemongrass syrup, some sort of chile and grapefruit juice...i think.  it was great, but our service was slow.

one of my pet peeves is when a restaurant has a super low table but the seating is fairly high....now i'm a girl with short-ish legs and a freakishly long torso so i can usually make this type of thing work....but at the setai i basically had to put my legs up on the couch...which was comfortable, but made me feel kind of like an a-hole.

it was pretty dead, especially for a saturday night but there were a couple groups, a couple people on dates......a good place to start the night with a low key cocktail.

My wife and I booked the Setai for a ten-day stay over the Christmas News Years holiday and although we had never stayed there before we were looking forward to it hearing good things from friends.  Upon arriving at the hotel you enter an Asian inspired world of low-keyed elegance and sophistication featuring low-lighting, warm woods, and black brick floors. We were shown to our room, a 600+ sq ft studio, beautifully appointed and decorated with all the amenities including stall shower twin sinks and separate bath tub that sits by it self on the far side of the room. The hotel features three pools one for children. The pool area is surrounded with single, double and triple lounges; the palm trees and tall hedges block the neighboring hotels giving a feeling of privacy. Our package included breakfast and I thought we would get the typical basket of breads bagels and muffins however when we came down to breakfast there before us lay a buffet fit for a king! Literally there was everything I could have asked for eggs, fish cereals fruit etc all laid out on endless tables. The staff of the hotel makes it all happen! They are some of the most efficient, professional and accommodating people I have come across anywhere in the world.
This is definitely a 5 star property and I highly recommend it. There is absolutely no Miami Beach hotel that can compare.

The Setai is a beautiful hotel, with several bars and restaurants within. Inside, the decor is amazing, lots of dark wood and inviting textures of glass and stone, and an inner courtyard with a reflecting pool with cushioned nooks for lounging and necking.

There are two restaurants, one which is meant for light fare, and the other is for regular dining. That's the one where we ate. The staff throughout is not only attentive, but professional. For example, when I showed up to meet my girlfriend in the wrong place, the waiter didn't wave vaguely to the other end of the hotel. Instead, he walked me over to the correct restaurant and handed me off to the hostess.

The food was amazing--perfectly prepared, very flavorful, and very expensive. Our meal earned me lots miles, but it was well worth it. If you are in Miami, and want to treat yourself to a phenomenal meal and experience, The Setai is an excellent choice.

What a great way to end a Miami trip.   The service, food, and setting were all outstanding.  We went to the wrong entrance, and a doorman showed us the way (enter on Collins!)

Our table was huge and well-spaced from the others.  The service was flawless, to the point of holding a course while we went to the bathroom.  The food was AMAZING--the hamachi appetizer was like an ocean of nigiri.  The waygu beef was tender and divine.  The desserts were tasty.   The caviar...oh...man...the caviar.  ym.

only flaws:  the bathroom can be a LONG way from the table (it's by the bar).  The Naan is addictive, be sure not to fill up on it.

Reservations are hard to snag, so be sure to call ahead.

I went to the bar by the pool to grab lunch and some drinks.  The food was great, just ridiculously overpriced.  The ambiance wasn't much my style either.  While every other place in South Beach has a very lively atmosphere, the Setai is just too quite.  Good if you want to escape to a quite oasis away from the South Beach party.

Incredibly rich and luxurious environment is made up of beautifully serene pools of water with low-lying benches surrounding them.  Walk out back towards the clear-blue Atlantic and find another 3 swimming pools with comfy, loungy beds to lie down on.  Great bar, excellent "scene" with lots of Europeans, passing travelers and did I mention fashion models?  Yeah, lots of them too.

Setai does not dissapoint.

I don't know if I love the doormen, the flower arrangements, the food or the wine best...but the Setai is the ULTIMATE in experiences.  Having traveled to New York, Vegas and many places in between I still prefer this impeccable hotel that's just down the road from me!  It's almost hard to find words that do this establishment justice.  The food is worth hundreds, the wine is worth thousands, the condos are worth millions, but the view is priceless!!

Go and you can mingle with the rich and the famous.  Last time I was there I was rubbing shoulders with Enrique and Ana K.

So what are you waiting for?  Go, dine, drink and relish every delicate detail!  O and get the duck...it's truly divine.

I picked the Setai because of great reviews about its service and I wasn't disappointed.  It's a splurge but well worth it!  It's mostly full of Europeans and Russians.  Warning - the men hit the beach in speedos (a culture thing, I guess).

As for the hotel itself - I've only seen such hospitality at a 7-star hotel in India before.  Definitely nowhere else in the US can compare to my Setai experience and I've stayed in a lot of hotels in many cities for work and fun.

The front desk experience is unique - someone ushers you in, tells you to have a seat and gives you a complimentary drink.  No standing at the front desk to check-in.  The staff also ushers you to your room, gives you a hotel tour, etc.  Our luggage was already there in our room.  The room was truly well done and beautiful.  The beds weren't as comfortable though and definitely an improvement point for the Setai.

The Restaurant has the best south east Asian food - the Indian chef was especially a huge hit with everyone (Americans, Europeans, Asians) staying there  as well as locals.  His food is authentic and to die for.  The best Indian food I've had in the US!

Their breakfast buffet is pretty unique too.  Most of the servers at all their restaurants, at the pools (they have 3 pools) and in-room are from Bali - being trained and rotated every year.   They definitely pamper you and treat you very well - so the service is exemplary and the food amazing!

I was not impressed with the Spa, though.  I am a spa junkie and have been to spas with cheaper rates and better treatment.  Would I go back to stay here? Sure, when I next have that much money!;)

Beautiful hotel but service is not as good as I thought it would be based on it being rated best hotel in Florida. At checkin was told there was not a room available for another 45 minutes or so even though it was after the hotel's checkin time. After saying I was displeased about this they found a room in about 10 minutes ... Seems like your room should be ready when you pay this sort of room rate. Then had to call asking where my bag was ... they did call back and say it was on its way up and said sorry that it took so long ... They never apologized for not having a room ready

I stayed in a two bedroom suite. The balcony was my favorite spot with a view of the ocean, South Beach and downtown Miami. The inside was very luxurious. I could definitely see myself living there.

At night the courtyard/lounge is really nice. A must-see if you are visiting South Beach!

Dark wood and soothing lowlights abound at the Setai--a refreshing turn from a day spent on the sunny beach and hot-hued Miami streets. My eyes were mucho appreciative of the more subtle take on art deco.

Our room was a studio suite, and it really was beautiful. Granite flooring, teak, silk... and miniature sweets and fruits (yum!) were an impressive sight. The placement of the tub, front and center in the room, was, umm, different. Acqui di Parma bath products were a nice touch, as was the in-room espresso maker.

What really made the Setai special were the beautiful grounds and daybed-flanked pools. Very, very relaxing. The inner courtyard also offered cushioned seating alongside a shallow pool of water. Having martinis here at night, in the candlelight, was a highlight of our stay.

The quality of the food here is pretty amazing.
My friends and I ordered:
Steamed barbecue pork buns (the filling was delicious, but way too much breading on the outside)
Steamed Peking duck and ginger dumplings (very flavorful, no complaints)
Szechuan Scallops with Black Beans, Wild Mushrooms, Green Onions (perfectly cooked and delicious)
Cantonese Style Thick Rice Noodles, Black Mushrooms, Napa Cabbage, Skirt Steak, Garlic and Soya Sauce (another excellent dish)
Lamb Shoulder Slow Cooked with Cardamom, Cinnamon, Saffron, Raisins, Cashew Nuts and Pistachio (the lamb was so tender and the curry was beautifully balanced) which was served with some of the most fragrant jasmine rice I have ever had.  We also ordered Garlic Nan.  The garlic nan was not as "garlicky" as we wanted, so we requested another order which was made right on the spot.
The service here is fantastic and I look forward to going again.
Sure, the prices are a little steep, but isn't good food coupled with great service worth it?
(with gratuity and a bottle of wine, the meal ended up being about $100 per person and there was more than enough food)

Worst hotel experience of 2011 anywhere in the world.   Checking service slow and pretentious.  Hot water was not working in rm. said they were booked in main restaurant but should try the very high priced restaurant on premises which was simply terrible. On checkout, tried to charge for things at minibar that were never used.  Rooms next door were very loud until 4am.  But a nice location :-).  They need a serious new general manager soooon to recapture good days from several years ago

If I were prone to hyperbole I'd say this was the best meal I've eaten on the beach.  As it would happen, I'm hyperbole's biggest fan (is it tacky to point out irony?).  This place was great.  Don't get me wrong, if it weren't for Miami Spice I would have had to take out a loan and/or sell an organ to pay for dinner.  The regular menu is pricey.  The most expensive dish was a Wagyu beef dish for $85 and I'd say the average plate was about $55.

The Miami spice menu was great.  For starters I had the ceviche and my girlfriend had the hen egg.  They were both pretty awesome.  For my second course I had the fish curry which was really good and came with some great rice, some  interesting chick pea side, and piece of flatbread/cracker/matzah looking stuff that was pretty tasty.  I didn't think the desserts were that great but I'm not a dessert person.

For $36 a piece (plus an included 18% gratuity) this was a great dining experience.  The ambiance inside the Setai is amazing.  When people come into Miami to visit I make sure to show them the Delano and the Sagamore (the nude photo exhibit is really cool).  Now, I'm gonna make sure to show them the Setai as well.

This place is too overpriced given the quality of the food.  The flavors and the quality of the food is barely above that of a PF Changs...in fact, PF Changs is actually preferable.  The portions are decent and the descriptions of the food are impressive.  Unfortunately the food itself is not that great.  The flavors are not worthy of a top-notch, "white glove" service restaurant.  The prices reflect what the restaurant wants to be, not what it is.

That said, the drinks are amazing and the ambiance are too die for.  The decor and the outdoor garden/grove area are amazing.  Setai is highly recommended as a gathering spot to drink, just not to dine.

Didn't stay at the Setai, but did party at the Setai, and it was one of the most exciting, fun, and gorgeous Miami spots that I've ever experienced!

After dinner at Bond ST, and a couple of cocktails at Rooftop Bar at Townhouse Hotel, a friend and I decided to check out the Setai's Lounge, which until that night I knew nothing about.

From the moment we walked in, we felt very glamorous. Velvet ropes, gorgeous decor, beautiful people, dim lighting, sculptural landscaping, beautiful starry night above us, the weather was perfect, the temperature couldn't have been better!  The lounge is set up around a giant water fountain that looks like a pool and it's surrounded by lots of plants and trees, creating the idea of a Japanese garden. The atmosphere that the Setai creates is undeniably one of the best I've ever experienced.

For those who dislike bar-hopping down Ocean Drive, and waiting in line at Mansion, the Setai is your best bet. It is such a great classy spot in Miami.

Whenever I'd go to Miami, I always wondered where all the "beautiful people" that everyone talks about, hung out.... and now I know!!

All around luxury experience.  The Best Hotel in South Beach and "The Place To Be!"  I can not say enough positive things about my stay.  The service is impeccable.  The rooms are beautifully designed with flat screen TVs, espresso maker, and my favorite - Duxiana beds.

During the day you can sit by the pool and catch some rays (most likely next to someone your listing to on your ipod or someone from the movie last night) or have mimosa's at the private beach area.  After the tanning session I would suggest getting a massage in the spa.  What an experience!  Perfect way to get ready for the night.

The service and food quality at the restaurant is something I still dream about.  If you are into wine, be sure to check out the cellar - great presentation.  The award winning wine list was everything I expected and more.  Be sure to check out the lobby bar - it's made of mother of pearl.

My favorite hotel!

WOW! The service at The Setai was impeccable; it has set the bar at what I expect at high-end hotels (as of service).  I decided to stay at The Setai on the recommendation of a friend for my 24th birthday. And I must say, I was blown away. I LOVED IT!!  They went up and beyond my expectations.

First, my friends (a girl and a guy) and I arrived late (at around 11pm on Friday) but I was greeted by name by the front doorman and the bell hop.  Upon approaching the front desk, we were directed to take a seat and a manager came out and gave us uber delicious fresh squeezed juice.   After, the front desk lady gave us a tour around the hotel and walked with us to our room.

When she opened the door she said, "Surprise. Happy birthday!" and there was chilled champagne, truffles, chocolate covered strawberries, a chocolate cake.  IT WAS SO AWESOME!!!  And that was the beginning of the best service I have ever received at a hotel.  From then, literally, every single staff, from the towel/lounge chair set-up people at the beach to the cleaning lady, wished me happy bday and asked if there was anything they could do to make my bday better.

Yes, the Setai is a little bit expensive. But I will not stay anywhere else. I LOVE IT! and Setai if you are reading this, Thank you for giving me and my friends the best bday ever! Every time I go to Miami, I will definitely be going back.

4 1/2 Stars.  Upscale & CLOSE to perfection, though not quite.  While the lobby is unimpressive, the grounds and outdoor social areas are GORGEOUS with ultra-modern, very Japanese minimalist Zen-like design sensibility.  Simple yet sophisticated.  I like.

They welcomed your stay with a bottle of Veuve Clicquot - my fave!  They spoil you with pool-side food, beverage, towel, tissue, and Evian spray service.

Staff is EXTREMELY nice and attentive, but while they mean well, they are not as professional as they could be.  (If management is reading this - they need a bit more training!)  Maid service could do a better job cleaning rooms during your stay given the caliber of hotel.  Also, room service food very good but could be improved, again, given caliber of hotel.  The common hallways of the room/condo floors also need improvement.

Beautiful hotel, beautiful views. Great service. I stumbled upon some great room rates in January so I decided to stay here. I was expecting to recieve a tiny room with no view for the price we paid (just under $500 a night) but we had a nice sized room and our room looked out over the ocean. My only two tiny complaints were that the WiFi didnt seem to be working and the hotel's location is a bit further North than I prefer, I'm used to staying down between 12th and 16th at the Delano and Lowes, walking from the Setai to Ocean or shopping district on Collins is a challenge.

Have not been here in a while but I had to comment.  The Setai is a bad (as in good) place!  It's an awesome place to start the night before hitting a club. It's also a nice place to just chill and have drinks with friends etc.  The down side is get ready to drop some serious cash.  Drinks are crazy expensive, not to mention bottles. But again you are on S. Beach.

Like a previous reviewer said...if minus was a score.

Several "s" words came to mind as soon as I walked into the doors: "stuffy, snobby, slow service". The property itself is beautiful, but I did not appreciate being stared down by those secret-service-wannabe security personnel - don't they know how to smile? Also did not enjoy being too close to the over-aged frat boys who came there to get drunk and swear loudly.

We were at the little palm island the day before, and they were able to pull off an environment that was much friendlier (as in not wreaking of snobbery), even though their rates were twice that of the Setai's.

Stayed here in October with a rate of $500/night for five nights. That being said, it's expensive but the extras that a hotel can do to justify a price like that are there. Excellent hospitality, room was in excellent condition, housekeeping was very good and came multiple times a day, bar staff was great and the pools were beautiful with service that was good.

Other things I like: once the bar staff get your room number, they remember your name and address you as "Mr. Xxx" the rest of your stay.(from memory, not just when they are putting down the check) They really do a good job at this and it does make you feel like they are trying to be hospitable. I'm sure all employees do the same thing but I never got the chance to figure that out since I spent most of my wondering-around-the-hotel-time at the bar.

The only thing I think could be improved on is minor: there is really nice coffee makers in the room, but I like to be able to get a cup of coffee to-go in the mornings in a cup I can leave the hotel with. I was able to find a good cup of coffee in the breakfast restaurant and they were happy to make it for me and didn't even charge me for it, but it kind of was a little non-standard for me to be going in there every morning and standing around while they made me a cup.  Long story short, a little coffe bar or station in the lobby would be great in my opinion.

I would definitely come back here.

Review for the lounge bar only...

Great place to start a night out.  Each of their specialty cocktails is truly outstanding.  Try them all, then weep that you've spent $100 on 5 drinks.  At least you get free nuts!

Fabulous stay. Great suite with an assortment of teas and coffees. The balcony provided us with a great view of the city and the beach. The main bathroom was huge and it was nice to have a second bathroom. The staff were accommodating. The brunch on Sunday was fantastic with an array of foods representing different cultures. The pools were wonderful and varied in temperature. Amazing cocktails. Wonderful location.

Absolutely beautiful. We actually didn't stay, eat or drink here. We walked through and sat at one of the seating areas kind of secluded on the way to the pool. SO pretty and relaxing. hopefully we can stay here one day!

To start, I had asked for a window table when they called to confirm the reservation, but we were seated at an interior table in he corner which seemed acceptable as it away from others and quiet. No need to change. Service was what you would expect, attentive yet left us alone and provided reasonable recomendations which we followed. All was going well until a large family was seated in the "private" room behind us which both preoccupied our server and disrupted the once quiet area. Wish they had closed the doors to their room, but it didn't happen. We finished our anniversary dinner with a nice desert where the staff had written Happy Anniversary on the desert serving plate - nice touch which didn't cost them anything as desert was on our tab. Beautiful location, beautiful hotel - might chose to stay there in the future but for the time being we're pretty happy stay a few blocks down at the Sagamore.

For the restaurant and overall design....
It's really a gorgeous hotel.  Classy and quiet.  Zen-like where it's subdued and relaxed.  In the restaurant, it wasn't bustling by any means, but we made our own party and the servers seemed to loosen up and have more fun serving more casual customers (ie us) :).  Most of the other tables were quiet couples but as it got later more groups came in.  The menu is diverse - really a lot to choose from.  Delicious....

Definitely my favorite place for sheer beauty at night in the central pool courtyard.

One of my favorite hotels in Miami Beach bar none.

Broken down:

CROWD:                   Not mixed thank god.  Classy people.  Wealthy people who actually have manners & culture.
POOL:                       Beautiful. 3 different pools with 3 different temperatures.  Quiet.  Rowdy crowds.......  PLEASE stay away!
Restaurant:              Excellent
Room:                        Beautiful, upscale & zen-like, with bathtub @ foot of bed.  Ahhhhh!
Service:                     Excellent.  The staff is well trained and they know what they are doing.  Just let them do their work and stay out of the way.
BAR inside:              AWESOME!  My favorite bar in Miami Beach
BAR outside:            Fun with more versatility.
MUSIC everywhere:    Zen
BEACH ACCESS:    exclusive

At $600/night and up, this hotel keeps most of the ghetto away.

This is a hotel/residence and I see that there are several people also renting out their own condo units in the same building as vacation rentals.   At $500/night you can find a private residence to rent which is 3 times as big as a hotel room.   Take your pick and google.   There are a lot of options right now to obtain HUGE spaces in prime properties at good prices.

Have fun !

By far the best hotel I've stayed in. Ever. From the service, the ambiance, the drinks, the pool, the room- everything was amazing.

The hotel staff knew that we were in Miami for the first time and as a courtesy upgraded our room. Upgrade was an understatement. We ended up with a 2 floor suite.

The pool was so beautiful and awesome because there wasn't a lot of people there so you were really able to relax.  The hotel also sections off a portion of the beach for its guest with beach chairs and access to the restaurant/bar. So you can be a lazy tan lump while boozing/ eating it up, which I thought was awesome since I've heard from 90 percent of my friends that the beach is gross and grimey.

If you stay at the Setai you wont want to leave. You really get a resort feel here and since you're only a 10-15 min walk away from the heard of southbeach you're able to have the best of both worlds ( stay at an amazing place/relax and go wild and cray at the clubs down there) I would say it's a great place to stay if you're there with a bf/husband or a small group of girlfriends because you can really enjoy everything the hotel has to offer.

Cocktails and conversation seems easy enough right?

Well no, not when you want an atmosphere that is upscale and relaxing. A place with no loud music, no crowds, no scene but you do want quality and well-crafted cocktails.

Yes, the drinks are of the $18 - $20 variety but the experience pays for itself when you sit in the courtyard, overlooking the pond. I was told they're now beginning a weekend happy hour on the beach so now that'd add another dimension. Regardless, this is one of my favorite places for savoring time and a drink with a friend.

Wish I could have stayed here for more nights... or maybe forever.  This hotel was amazing in every aspect.  Asian-themed dark contrasted design with relaxing Zen overtones are better than I imagined, even after already seeing and drooling at all of the pictures on their website.

Upon arrival we were lead to a sitting area and treated with a sophisticated iced green tea and rolled hand towels.  No need to stand about aimlessly at the front desk while waiting for keys, etc.  Their staff were the most professional and courteous that I've probably ever seen.

We stayed in one of their base studio suites.  An excellent room with a great design and great execution.  Superior amenities to boot.  Even the Asprey line of soaps are fantastic.  The high-flow rainforest shower head is quite an experience.  Complimentary wine, chocolate truffles, and brownie bites were just over-the-top awesome.

The bar lounge and outdoor patio area was simply beautiful.  The badass, super-friendly bartender remembers hotel patrons by name after ordering just one drink.  Live DJ on premise on that particular Saturday night.  Pool area was amazing and quite under-utilized when we were out there.  Access to the beach is easy.  To top it all off, the Setai's restaurant was amazing as well.

Other patrons were all polite, classy people.  No ghetto here.  Couldn't really ask for more.

I feel somewhat reluctant to Yelp The Setai so as to preserve the exclusivity and privacy that make it so amazing, but at their price points it's pretty much a non-issue. The Setai is the epitome of the lap of luxury.

The Setai has residences as well as hotel rooms. The beauty of living here is that residents get all the amenities of the hotel (room service, concierge, housekeeping, pool, spa, etc.).

Fortunately my friend lives here so I got to visit and experience the breathtaking beauty. World class decor, pools, ambiance, service, and a CLASSY international crowd, unlike the rest of Miami.

Also, it's literally a stone's throw from Nobu at the Delano.

Wish I could live here! Will definitely return.

Because of Nastia, the girls and I came back for a bachelorette dinner before hitting the clubs this past weekend. I'm glad we did because we had a fabulous time and I definitely enjoyed dinner more than lunch!  Nastia had reserved a table for us after we had lunch at the beach bar and she really made sure our bride to be for the royal treatment.  We came and the host sat us down in the lobby with a bottle of champagne and appetizers to pick on as we waited for our table.  Ambiance is simply stunning and zen-like.  The chef greeted us as the host brought over a bottle of champagne, potato chips, and some cucumber salad to pick on which was AH-MAZING. Our table was ready and the host had taken us to our table in a room- yes we had a room all to ourselves which was a great touch for 10 gals to gossip, bond, and gush how excited we were to be there and on our way to our table at LIV.  Talk about exclusivity!  Our waiter had come out and explained that dishes covered different cuisines with chefs from that country preparing them overlooked by a french chef to tone flavors down so they are agreeable to the palate (ie. not too spicy, etc.).  Menu is quite extensive and I had a hard time choosing.  I ordered the passionfruit chili martini- AMAZING! Palate cleanse (I had no idea what it was), Blue fin Tuna app topped with caviar to start- served so elegantly I was afraid to dig in because the dish was presented that beautifully. Entree Pad thai split with a girlfriend and I and good thing we did because we could not finish it and I definitely could not have eaten it all myself. Chef sent out some dessert- cute little maccaroons and green tea/raspberry pastries which were interesting. At the end of our meal, the host had a taxi waiting for us to whisk us away to our table at LIV.  Had a fantastic experience and truly received the royal treatment which would DEFINITELY make me come back!

Yep she's still got it. I hadn't been back for a couple of years, but this hotel remains my favorite in South Beach. I enjoyed the Asian inspired decor, the pool, gym/spa, and overall service. Rooms in the tower are amazing, the ones in the smaller building are ok though not awe inspiring (friends on the 4th floor complained of street noise, but my room on the 3rd floor was quiet).

The highlight of my stay was the shower, its flow and head were fit for a giant zoo animal. I frolicked under the powerful water blast like a hippo caught in a flash flood. If you're looking for blaring hip hop music and a plastic surgery showcase by the pool this hotel probably isn't for you (try the Delano or Shore Club), but for relaxation and luxury the Setai is the place.

A gorgeous lounge and the cutest swingset outside! Amazing waitresses and a good mix of people. A great atmosphere with music not to loud or soft, and people here meeting to chit chat or start their night. Excellent service, waitress approached us as soon as we sat. Talk about good quality- Setai holds that stature, luxary, and just seriously having a good feel to sit and relax. It's not the Shoreclub or Delano experience where it's hoppin and people are walking around and mingling but it has a good feel.

Faces the pool area with all the beautiful palm trees...although I prefer the ocean view, perhaps it needs to be moved to a second or higher floor ; )  The entire hotel is a relaxation experience. We've been here on SEVERAL occasions and each one have had a very memorable experience. We came here for the after party of MOCA mystery dates, lunch during art basel, brunch during art basel (which is AMAAAAAZING), our friends gallery showing (he rented out  a room on the first floor during art basel), to me accompanying my fiance on his biz meeting at Setai, laying at the pool when our friends were in town, and finally on July 4th we came to lay out at the pool.

We went to the Shelborne and it was a CRAZY party (people funneling beer, a million people in the pool, people dropping their drinks everywhere, and not so attractive people shaking the goods that I did NOT want to see) so we decided to go over to the Setai and see if we would be able to lay out there.

We weren't staying at the hotel but I think the pool guard guy was on break or something because the front podium had no one there so we just wandered in and took a seat at the last pool (the one closest to the beach). The staff immediately saw us and called on their head pieces that we needed towels. They promptly brought us complimentary bottled water and were always asking if we were OK. The pool was the absolute perfect temperature and we had so much fun. It was the perfect relaxing July 4th that we were looking for.

The staff have brains and that is really hard to find in Miami but seriously they know their stuff and are very friendly. I definitely want to stay here for our anniversary or something to finally try out the actual rooms as I have fallen in love with the Setai!

This is an amazing hotel, it's got no scene, and people don't know about it or something. It has great bars, and the food is decent, but I wouldn't eat here after trying both venues.

Go there, check it out. Make sure that you go in the open fountain area, walk around towards the back and follow the hallway to the pool. This area and the pool area is amazing, not to mention the awesome back bar which overlooks the beach. Most people don't know about the gardens and the back, so make sure to check it out:

Top Notch Hotel Stayed at my friends place there earlier this year, great service but I have two complaints. They use bleach on the walkways in the morning to whiten them. I didn't like it so much because of environmental reasons. And There was a concierge  named Fernando, this guy was such a jerk to a couple of his own people there then I see him turn around and brown-nose a dog. He got on his knee and presented the dog with a gift. I could not believe that this guy gave up all dignity for a dog of a rich guest but for his own coworkers he was a total ass. It's amazing what some people would do for dogs with rich owners.

The pools were great. 4 pools!

Restaurants are excellent, breakfast bar is awesome and the staff is on top of everything.

Housekeeping is fast, and very good. I love it that they seem to be more relaxed here than other hotels. I love it that they don't seem nervous when a client is around and make everyone feel awkward.

Loved this, can't wait to go back. Hope not to see Fernando

Swank is the only real word for this place.

Who doesn't like being treated like a Princess?

Big, cushy suites.  The bathroom is to die for.

Concierge services are as good as I have experienced - and I am old and also well-traveled.

More later.  They bring food and drink like magic.  It is almost like the staff can see what I am doing and where I am (in a non-creepy way).

Well, it could be creepy......  But it isn't.

I can't say enough good things about our three night stay at the Setai.  My husband and I were there for our anniversary.  We brought our dog Molly.  Because we are Florida residents we were able to get a package which included valet parking, breakfasts for each day of our stay, and a $50 hotel credit, which we used toward dinner at the Asian restaurant, called The Restaurant, in the hotel.

I'll start buy telling you about the people that work there. They were incredible.  The person who checked us in was so helpful. We didn't have to wait in line.  Our room was ready when we got there, and checking in was simple.  We were told about the hotels amenities, and even given a tour so we would know where to find the pool, spa, and restaurant.

The manager, who we saw every day, was the one who helped us get the extra perks, since we were Florida residents.  We didn't know about it when we made our reservation.  He was so nice, and he went out of his way for us.  A bottle of champagne and chocolate cake was sent to our room with an anniversary card.  I'm sure he had something to do with that.  It made our day so special.

The host in the restaurant where we went for the breakfast buffet each morning was so wonderful.  He saw that we got everything we wanted for breakfast, he made suggestions, he even gave us coffee to bring back to the room.

The servers at both breakfast and dinner were great.  Our server, the first day we were there, told us we didn't have to leave a tip for breakfast, because we got the special Florida resident package. The tip was already included in the price of our buffet.  How about that.

Housekeeping was outstanding.  The room was so clean and included all the extras like shampoo, soaps, bubble bath, sewing kit, robes, and more.  In the evening we took advantage of the turn down service.  In the morning and evening housekeeping left little muffins on a tray at the foot of our bed.  One evening I entered our room just as the housekeeper and the housekeeping manager were leaving.  The housekeeper told me that my dog looked cold, so she had covered her.  We walked into the room and there was Molly lying on the couch, wrapped up in a blanket.  That was so sweet.

It's hard to mention everyone we came into contact with.  The doormen, the valets, the man that set up our chairs on the beach, the lady that served us drinks by the pool, all were outgoing, friendly, and helpful.

Our room was beautiful.  It had a big comfortable bed, a large screen television, and a sitting area with couches, coffee table, and mini bar.  There was also plenty of bottled water in the room.  When we checked in we found a few pieces of fresh fruit and a small box of chocolates on the coffee table. There were dog biscuits in a bowl on the floor for Molly. It's like they thought of everything.

Everyplace in the hotel was gorgeous.  The sitting areas in the lobby, the bar, and the courtyard.  All were beautifully decorated with plenty of places to sit.  In the back there were three swimming pools, each set at a different temperature.

The thing that touched me the most was how nice everyone was to Molly.  Every time we took her for a walk people stopped and talked to her.  When we went out without her they would ask us, "How is Molly?"

The food at the breakfast buffet and at dinner was delicious.  I did a separate review of The Restaurant.

Everything about our stay at the Setai was five star.

Best brunch in town... Hands down!
Most expensive one too. @120$ a pop the least you would expect from it is to be perfect.
Some people say the buffet is somehow small, and I don't agree with that statement.  Not the biggest one in town but not small at all. Thus, for the record, quantity and size isn't what makes a meal a good one, taste is. And the taste is definitely delightful for brunch. Both the food and the setting are refined, almost everything is delicious.
What keeps me from giving that fifth star is the god damn valet. I mean paying your valet such money in a brunch that expensive is just frustrating. I know that hotels make fortunes out of charging you up to 35 USD in hotels, but come on, be creative!
Charge me 130$ for the brunch, but get that damn valet complimentary! It's so annoying to pay almost 20$ with ticket validation and have a guy that on top of that stands next to your door assuming you will tip him an extra 5$, and waiting like if it was a due. Well, let me tell you that after allowing yourself to change all of my seat settings and put your own beats on the radio I am left with no choice than the one to assume that you will end up having lunch with us next time. I am just plain tired of the parking rip off that's been increasing years after years for the past 15 years now in Miami beach. In comparison you go to the Mandarin Oriental and have complimentary valet, which I. The end makes you happy to tip the guy standing there, next to your door...

I went here with my fiancé and two out of town guests a few nights ago for after dinner drinks. What a disappointment!

The setting is gorgeous, to be sure, and the cocktails were quite tasty (once we got them), but the service was horrendous! We had to get the attention of at least three different people before getting a waitress to take our order!

To top it off, my car was dirty when the valet brought it back (it wasn't when I dropped it off).

It's a swank place, without question, but if I'm paying $20 per drink & $15 for valet, I expect decent service.

I've been thoroughly spoiled. I knew when I booked a weekend stay at the Setai that I ran the risk of never wanting to stay in a different south beach hotel. Yea...I was right...not good news for my bank account.

I've stayed at the Ritz, the W and the Lowes in the past (the Ritz is the only one I would consider going back to) but the Setai blows them all away. Of course, at this price point it should.

This place definitely is not cheap BUT if you can splurge for the 500+ a night room rate, do it. The people that work there are incredibly friendly. They remember you by name and are all excellent at what they do. There is no pretentiousness at all which is refreshing for Miami (the W is the exact opposite of this, totally a see and be seen kind of place...not my thing when I just want to be relaxing on vacay...) and the pool is fantastic. You never have to fight for a daybed or a lounger. The gym and spa are also very nice.

The rooms are beautiful but, admittedly, a bit strange in their layout. We had a high floor spa suite which had a huge granite tub right in the middle of the bedroom. It also didn't have much of a door separating the living/sleeping area from the toilet so...yea I guess get a different kind of room if you're on a first romantic vacation with your significant other. Still, we loved it and even had a view of the ocean off past the courtyard.

The restaurant was also great. I've read mixed reviews of it in the past but they must have really upped their game because the food and service were both awesome. We were there during Miami Spice and the special menu was both a fantastic deal and delicious. The wine pairings were all also on point. I actually wanted to go back to the restaurant our last night in town but we ended up going to Barton G instead on a friends recommendation...big mistake (just FYI, Barton G totally sucked. The Restaurant at the Setai is everything that Barton G isn't, excellent food, beautifully presented in an elegant, relaxed atmosphere with no stupid giant forks on your plate....but I digress)

So, yea, if you can stay here, stay here. Amex platinum is currently running a 4 nights for price of 3 promotion which is totally worth taking advantage of if you can.

I do not understand the hype of this place!  Went for the Sunday brunch and had it.  The selection was poor, service was mediocre at best and the hotel was just average in my opinion.  The food was all fatty and sugary.  There were no real healthy options that I saw.  The champagne is unlimited and they serve Tattinger's, which was lovely.  I was astonished it was about $100 per person but my mother took me and the family out for the Sunday brunch.  While I did not stay here, I still feel I got a good vibe of the hotel and its services.  It is extremely overrated.

Was here on Sunday for brunch and my experience was great due to our server Gustavo. He when above and beyond to offer us the best service and dining experience. The food was as expected but I can't emphasize enough on how amazing Gustavo was. If this restaurant continues hiring high quality employees such as him they will be sure to be the best in town.

Would highly recommend to check out the restaurant and bar. The courtyard is absolutely beautiful. In terms of service - all employees were respectful, always opening the door, and always lending a friendly hand. I needed $5 of quarters and they were very accommodating.

The drinks are expensive, but they have some of the best. The lychee martini, some watermelon basil concoction that just tasted amazing yet not too strong, and good quality tequila.

More than a pleasant setting!
We went there on Sunday to have a lunch in front of the Sea.
Unfortunately, there was a big party beside with loud music so we couldn't enjoy the relaxing atmosphere.
The food was all right but the waiter not really reactive.
However, it's a very pleasant place, I will go back for sure.

Excellent brunch, lots of food, bottomless Taittinger champagne and extremely nice service. $85 per person but it is a real treat and you can drink as much champagne as you want! The decor is very nice, modem, the ambiance is relaxed and peaceful. Thumbs up!

Spent a long weekend. Every aspect is exceptional. In particular, the level of personal care is 5star. Beach side cafe is an excellent place to take a break. Pricey but justified.

Always a happy place with a great snack menu at the main bar. I have been coming here for 10 years.

Ambiance is spectacular especially for outdoor dining. Music is adult contemporary mix.  Grade: A+

Service was good but pacing need work.  Appetizer courses were rushed at front end with servers clearing tables before some of our guests were completed.  Took a long time to get check after we were done with dinner.  Grade: B

Food portions were unusually small even for a high end restaurant.  Would stay away from pasta dishes, one was served cold which had to be returned.  Filet Mignon was excellent. Appetizer (Lobster Salad and Panzanella) were excellent.  Grade: C+

Wine recommendations were great. Grade: A.

Desserts (Vacherin & Winter Dome) were excellent. (Grade: A)

Overall: C+.  Expectation for food quality was much higher and didn't match up to ambiance, which was awesome.

Suggestion is to go to the Setai, skip the dinner, and get a glass of wine and appetizers.

I can easily say this is THE best hotel I have stayed at! Yes it is pricey, but they offer the best of best. The staff is very nice and the rooms are wonderful! Close proximity to the beach is awesome!

Recommend to everyone if you can afford the 500+ room rate!

The Setai is a super swanky hotel, that has a stunning lobby bar and courtyard. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a delicious cocktail, naturally, made with Zacapa Rum. The Passion Fruit Caipirinha only tastes better with my brand in it :)

The decor of the lobby is simplistic and elegant. The seemingly overflowing amount of red roses adds a classic touch and wonderful fragrance.

We only had time for one cocktail...at least during this visit. This bar is the type of place you could share a drink with a business colleague, date, friend or family member - it is a nice spot to have in your back pocket! Save me a seat at the Setai :)

Only stayed here one night on the residence side so... I saw but was not able to actually use -- the great courtyard area where they have brunch served, the three wonderful pools (each at a different temperature), the poolside service that extends to the beach, the oranges that are out during the day that are replaced by candles at night.

The Setai has a wonderful vibe about it and I am looking forward to returning. There is even a house car available on the residence side to take you to and from in place of cab service.

The only downside I experience was a rather confused process to check into the residence for the evening and also confusion with something as simple as the keys. You need to hold them about 1cm away from the sensor. Too close or too far and it will not open.

It doesn't get too cold in South Beach, but it's nice that the Setai has pools of varying temperatures - you'll feel like goldilocks, trying out the warm, warmer, and warmest pool.

The staff at the Setai are accommodating and meticulous. Service is extremely fluid as it seems like the staff readily anticipates your next move.

The brunch is wonderful. And.. I'm super entertained by how the bathtubs are in front of the TV in the rooms.

Amazing ambiance, great attention to detail in decor, and the customer service was top notched. I had brunch there this past Sunday- the food was delicious with a great variety. If you can afford the high price or want an excuse to spur on yourself , the Setai for Sunday brunch is perfect. Everything had an air of elegance and a depth of quality but without the feeling of being pretentious. I highly recommend the Setai Miami for brunch.

There are several reviews in this one big review.

Upon entry they take your bags immediately up to your room and they bring you over to the front desk to check in. They have you sit in some chairs while they bring you a hot towel to sanitize your hands along with a Lemon Grass Iced Tea. Heads up this drink is very addicting! We had this drink every time we ate at this hotel. The only thing that was disappointing was that each restaurant made it differently so they never tasted like the first one that we got. Very good though!  I'm going to review a couple different things about this hotel because they don't have another account for them.

1 STAR - The Pool Side Restaurant:  When we walked up to the hostess we said table for 2 and they looked at us for a moment and then said "are you hotel guests" and we said yes and they still didn't believe us so we showed them our room key and they still didn't believe us so they asked us what room we were in but we couldn't remember exactly what room number we were in. So they had to talk with the supervisor and they had us sit at a table and then they had us write down our name on a napkin so they could have someone go check with the front desk. REALLY! This is supposed to be a 5 star resort. That pretty bad customer service. We finally ordered the Hamburger about 45 min later and there was nothing special about it. Although it did have a nice view the customer service just wasn't worth dealing with.

5 STARS - The Restaurant, Mediterranean Grill: This was our last day so we decided to do something easy so we just ordered the Margarita Pizza Flatbread...Oh My Gosh was that the best Margarita Pizza I have ever had in my life!!! They also had 12 year Aged Balsamic Vinegar. Excellent Food.

5 Stars - Atmosphere of the hotel: The architecture is absolutely beautiful! They really thought through everything when designing this hotel. This was a huge piece of property and everything about it was beautiful.

Overall: Very nice hotel with nice accommodations. Awesome front desk customer service along with the concierge desk. Beautiful rooms and excellent food (everything but the pool side restaurant.) Just skip the restaurant by the pool, not the best food and definitely not the best customer service. The hotel is right on south beach so your just steps away from the sand. Also make sure you try the Lemon Grass Iced Tea!

Wow, what a sexy and sleek hotel!

The staff was very attentive from the time we arrived.  We stayed in room 614 which has no view to speak of but the room itself is very spacious and lavish!  There was a tub in the room below the TV, a large sitting area, king bed and desk.  The shower is a little small given the size of the rest of the room but not a deal breaker.  There are two sinks which is great but not a lot of counter space to easily get ready in the morning.

The outdoor courtyard is perfect for evening drinks.  The three pools are part of one larger area but not too large.  There are large daybeds that can accommodate around 4 people.  It is a nice way to spend a mellow afternoon. The entire hotel has a very sexy vibe to it.  Hard to describe but if you stay here you will get it:-)  The hotel provides initially in the room a bottle of water, chocolates, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and soap.

We were told the hotel has an area on the beach but we did not use it so not sure what services are provided there and at what cost.

The walk down to main south beach is about 15-20 minutes.  It is a very nice walk along the board walk or the beach!  There are "City Bike" locations all over (I mean every few blocks or closer) south beach.  There is one right on 21st on the side of the hotel!  This is a good option to cover more quicker.  Wish we had known about this in advance as a bike ride around the island would have been fun!  If you go to citibikemiami.com/statio… it will show you the locations, how many bikes are available and how many stations are free to accept bikes.  30 minutes is $4 however you can get a membership for $15 that gives you unlimited free 30 minute rides.  So, if you are not taking a long ride and just want to get from place to place this is a good option.Pretty nice!

We ordered room service in the evening, the food (Croque-monsieur) came quick and was very good!  We also called housecleaning in the morning to request a few things and they were at our room in just a few minutes!

The taxi to and from the airport is $35 plus tip.

We only stayed one night here on our way to St Lucia so I am sure we missed some experiences or tips.

We really enjoyed our stay and would come again!
