We were excited to stay here for our 10 year wedding anniversary - UNTIL they called and cancelled our reservation on Monday - when we were supposed to arrive on Friday.  Didn't give us a lot of time to find a suitable alternative...  Well, well - not taking a chance on that place again!!!  In their defense - they were very apologetic...

My friends and I stayed at the Villa Paradiso Hotel this past weekend.  The rooms were just as they are shown in the pictures. I was very happy with the staff; they were friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating.  I will definitely stay there again and recommend you check it out if your looking for affordable, condo style w/kitchen within walking distance to Ocean Dr.

Pretty good buy for Miami Beach. Check out their rates. The apartments are comfortable, clean, well furnished and come with a complete kitchen.  Each room has access to a shared terrace and there is a small courtyard in front of the entrance to each.  The hotel is located 1 block from the beach and all the restaurants and bars on Ocean Drive.  It's about 2 blocks from Lincoln Rd. and Española Way.  The staff is very friendly and you get free beach towels.  Parking is a bit of a problem at times, because the hotels on Collins Ave., unless you're willing to pay for the Ritz, only have street parking.  There are meter machines (you can use your credit card or ATM) and you pay $1.25 per hour from 9:00 a.m. to 3 a.m.  If there aren't spaces available, there is a parking garage nearby on 13th St.

What a gem! This is a beautiful little hotel that offers such a great space for a great price. It is also a nice spot just blocks from the beach and in the middle of great shopping and restaurants! My husband and I truly have enjoyed our stay here! The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is because the wifi isn't the best. But hey it forced us to enjoy our vacation even more.

We just came back from vacationing in SOBE and loved it.  Upon checking in at the hotel, the receptionist insisted that we had 2 confirmed room reservations for seven days, when actually we had only made one reservation.  She was going to charge us for one extra night since we did not cancel the reservation (we never made), but shortly after we got to the room, she came to our room and said she spoke to the owners and they were going to waive the fee.

Our room was big, clean and somewhat worn looking, but overall it was a very nice unit.  It had a small kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, gas stove, small coffee maker and toaster.  There were so many nice restaurants in the area, we hardly used the kitchen other than to store items that needed cooled in the refrigerator for late night snacks.

The hotel does not have a restaurant or pool, which really did not effect us since we knew this before we made our reservations.  They have a nice courtyard area outside of the rooms.  We were on the second floor which was good because there was less traffic noise, but beware that there is no elevator to any of the second floor rooms.  You will end up carrying the bags to the second floor since they have no bell hops.  Again, if you do your research ahead of time, this should not be a surprise to you.  If you are handicapped or have a difficult time carrying your luggage one flight, ask for a room on the first floor.

The hotel is conveniently located to restaurants, convenience stores and is only one block from the beach on ocean drive.  (The beach is fabulous).  It is also in walking distance to Espanola Way and Lincoln Road...you don't want to miss visiting the shops and restaurants there.

We had a great time in SOBE and can't wait to return.  When we return, we will definitely plan on staying at Villa Paradiso.  It was in a great location and it was very inexpensive.  Granted, it is not a 5 Star hotel, but they don't pretend to be one either.  Unless you are strictly into high-end hotels, we think you will enjoy Villa Paradiso.

We stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon before we left to go on a cruise and had a great time.  Overall the place was as clean as possible and well stocked with all the essentials.  Kitchen is stocked better than expected with pots and pans but that doesn't matter because theres lots of cheap food within walking distance.  It is slightly older but has sort of a rustic beach house feel to it.

They don't have a ton of staff walking around and reception seems to be run basically by one person per shift so it feels more personal.  Both check-in and check-out were easy and the staff were funny and accommodating.

The location is also very nice, right in the middle of SOBE.  There is an unbelievable amount of food, all within walking distance so we didn't need the kitchen.  If you go one street up to Washington street you can find very affordable places to eat on the cheap.  Overall it was an A+ experience, I would stay here again.  I believe our room was around $150 a night.  Good work Villa Paradiso.

Forgot to mention, the only downside is they have no dedicated parking so you will need to use the garage on 13th and collins which is about $20 a day.  But thats life, its Miami.

Stayed here 2 nights in Feb. 2014, and would probably return.
    Pros:
Since this is a converted small apartment building, each unit is complete with kitchen. It's more of a European-style hotel. Our unit was  spacious.
LOCATION! Amazingly convenient to the beach, lots of restaurants (including inexpensive ones), shopping, Art Deco district. Caught the on/off bus tour a few blocks up Collins for city tour.
Price is very reasonable for SOBE. Clean, good bed, TV, AC.
Nice owners, communicated well by email when reserving.

    Cons:
    Wi-Fi didn't work well.
Older building with a few problems. Leak in our kitchen ceiling dripped water and had done previous damage to wall. Luckily we weren't inconvenienced since we didn't use the kitchen much.
No onsite parking; they recommended a public structure a block away--tho' it was full when we went by, and we ended up paying even more elsewhere. A map showing options would have been helpful.

Crap employees took a bolt cutter to my bike lock and tried to steal it! Then when I caught them said it was in the way! It wasn't! Don't give them business!!!!

Especially after being at the Carlton; walking into this place I was RELIEVED.
Reminded me of the places in the Caribbean  that I stayed at.  Old wood floors - did I mention .. Clean ? Cute sitting area in the patio - and locked gate. I will def. stay here again.
