This review isn't for the hotel. You can keep your chonies on, I'm reviewing the Top of the Port restaurant which is located upstairs.
Expedited version: Average food with a hefty price tag. Indifferent service. At least its close to your gate. Ever wanted to see the airport from several stories up? Here's your chance.
Wordiness: The description on their website describes Top of the Mark as "continental cuisine with panoramic views of the airport runways". Continental cuisine is fancy talk for "nothing for vegetarians" cause the menu was seriously meat-tastic.
Our party just wanted to have a view while enjoying a cocktail but the snooty host, said we would have to drag our butts back to the downstairs lounge if thats all we were getting. My fam decided to spring for some yum-yums just to be able sit down and relax. We passed a whole section of small lounge tables with rattan chairs - guess they're just there for decoration. The decor is a mix of Key West + 80's shiny glam, its makes for an elegant atmosphere for a vegetarian to eat their dinner salad in.
I did inquire about the possibility of the kitchen throwing together a vegetable plate. Our waiter informed me that it would just be steamed veggies and it would be $18. WTH, for some soggy carrots and broccoli?! I went with a dinner salad which was fresh and tasty. I had low expectations so this came as a shocker. Their wine choices that evening were ones I could purchase at the grocery store for less than the price of a glass here: Pass.
My fam was fairly happy with their choices. Mom L enjoyed her petite steak, and I noticed that her veggies looked excellent. We did have to catch the waiter's eye for refills on their coffees. He basically did the bare minimum service-wise.
There was only two other parties in the whole place so at least in that aspect it was good for a last minute meal with the fam before boarding. I doubt this place is ever packed. The views make for a relaxing respite from the insanity in the terminal below.
The hotel is located in Concourse E, hit up the elevators and you'll be well on your way to mediocrity!!

Honest to god this is the smallest hotel room I've ever been in. What was even more surprising is the room had a king sized bed in it. They must have put the bed here and then built the room around it. Seriously there was maybe 12 inches of room between the edge of the bed and the wall. The bathroom was equally tiny.
We only stayed here because our flight was delayed and we missed our connecting flight back to LA. and the place we usually stay was booked as was every other hotel near the MIA airport.
The walls are super thin. I could hear every time a door was closed and I could hear people walking by in the hallway. If they spoke in the hallway I could hear their conversation clearly.
The hallway had the smell of cigarette smoke and then some kind of air freshener to mask the smell.
The only advantage to this hotel was it was right at the airport. Seriously, you walk out of the lobby and into the AA ticketing area

If you decide to only read the first line of this review, this is all you need to know: This place is gross!
I was going to write a nice long review about this place with a couple of witty remarks, but seriously... It's gross. So instead I'll just make a list of the nastiness we encountered in the two rooms they tried to give us before we decided to sleep under the local bridge abutment instead. All of these items were found in both of the rooms, unless otherwise noted.
1.) Dried Urine on the Toilet Seat from Previous Occupants.
2.) Dried Urine on the floor, which had nice black coloring indicating it had been aging there for a while, not unlike a fine wine.
3.) Pubic or Super Curly (I assume the former) Hair in the sink.
4.) Mystery Stains on the bedspread.
5.) Dark Black Hand prints on the window shades (one room).
6.) An essence of cigarette smoke rivaling what I assume the break room at the RJ Reynolds Corporate Headquarters would smell like.
Also, the rooms are fairly small, and have a pretty terrible view, unless you're into looking at walls and HVAC condensers.
PROS: The girls are the desk weren't terrible.
If you're into living in filth, I guess the list above could be considered positives.
CONS: Everything else.

Like prison but without the charming staff, cleanliness or amenities. Seems like a decent room as you walk in until you notice the dirt and grime. Tub/shower was disgusting, like a guys dorm shower. Hadn't been properly scrubbed since Carter was in office. Hair on the towels and floor. The bed blanket is short sheeted, can't be pulled above your bicep. Insanely long line with one check in concierge. Bathroom floor is dirty. It's convenient but nasty.

Extremely convenient if you have an overnight layover at Miami airport. The hotel is IN the airport, right outside terminal E. We woke up, checked out of the hotel, and walked about 20 feet to the airport security line. It was perfect.
The hotel itself was decent -- nothing to write home about. Clean, modern, and with working air conditioning. The in-hotel restaurant was empty. The decor seemed a bit dated. The food selection was somewhat limited.
