This "hotel" is a joke. This hotel has kids running it. No one picked up the phone at the front desk. They don't care about booking a room or not. They weren't very bright, asking me 3 and 4 times what dates i was looking for and very unprofessional. Poor customer service. Put me on hold 5 times in 15 minutes and still wouldn't transfer me to their manager.  I agree with Kristen R - if i could give negative stars, i would. The hotel is new and they hired the bottom of the barrel. If the people on the phone are that lazy and uninformed, i'm sure the hotel doesn't get cleaned properly either. i bet they are closed soon.  do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

As an SPG member with Starwood Properties I have stayed at many of their hotels such (sheraton, westin,st regis, four point etc) . This is the second time I stayed in this property and hate to inform the service has gotten worst! not that it was great! Room was not ready when we checked in , not properly stocked, one of the TV's was not taking the correct channels, breakfast is good as well as the expresso machine but not stocked at night when you have the urge of having a cup of hot chocolate. Parking went from free to $9 dollars a day ! In order to get there you will need to consult Indiana Jones! Its crazy !!! they have all kinds of construction and closed roads with little to none signs.

If i could give negative stars i would.  I had booked a stay at this  hotel and glad i didn't stay.  I've stayed at different "Elements" before and have been very pleased with the customer service.  This hotel however does not care, I had booked 2 different dates since i wasn't sure when i would be staying.  I booked under the starhot since I have a relative that works there.  I booked online since the sales associate told me the starhot was only available one.  They told me there would be no cancellation fee and to go right ahead and do it.  I never received a confirmation number or anything, I called an hour later to see if they could check if it went though.. they could not find it.   Weeks later I decided to cancel the reservation and since i had no confirmation number they also said they could not find it again under my name or email and that it was either already cancelled or never went through.  A month later I saw that the Element had charged me 2 times in cancellation fees.

I've tried to resolve this problem and contacted the hotel more than 5 times.  I keep getting routed to sales where nobody calls me back or they tell me they will call me no later than the next day and they never call.  I spoke to Tiffany who said they would refund me and that i would just need to give my card information to the manager Steve. Everytime I call Steve, is not available nor is Tiffany now.. it's been almost a month since i've tried to get this fixed now and I just keep getting the round about.

Very nice and clean with reasonable price.  The double bed room with a kitchen made us feel like we were staying in a loft style condo.

I haven't even stayed here yet but the customer service I just received from Shane when I booked my room prompted me to write a quick review of my experience so far.  Shane was informative, friendly and welcoming and told me a bit about the hotel.  I will update my review once I have stayed there.

My wife and I decided to head down to Miami for the Memorial Day weekend to kill two birds with one stone. First and foremost a relaxing subtropic excursion and secondly to visit our new born niece Sadie. This trip started out with a Priceline query for hotels in Sadie's locale for less than a $100 a night which, led us to the Element. It is worthy to mention that in as much as Priceline should be lauded for its intuitiveness, usefulness, and making an appealing selection it does not allow for much exhaustive browsing so your only recourse is to trust that your criteria is translated to what is eventually booked. Initially we were a bit apprehensive with the selection because we hadn't heard of the existence of a hotel named Element prior to our short jaunt across the state. Couple this with the fact that all sales are final, non-refundable or transferable.

The Element at the Miami Airport was relatively new evidenced by the cleanliness of the lobby, lounge, concierge desk, common areas, and contemporary styling. The staff was courteous, groomed, and well dressed. Check-in was effort less. Our apprehensions were eased once we entered our room. Our initial room was a King double occupancy, a kitchenette equip with a full sized stainless steel refrigerator, glass cook top electric range, dish washer, microwave oven, and assorted cooking and serving utensils. There was a Phillips flat panel LCD TV with a sufficient amount of programing for any hotel stay in my opinion. For those who must work while vacating the Element housed small office area (in the room we selected)  consisting of a desk, universal laptop dock with an assortment of connections most notably an Ethernet port, and an IP phone. We chose to be on the 5th floor for an encumbered view of the city scape. The windows allowed for plenty of natural lighting.

The contemporary design continued in the bathroom where it employed Kohler soft touch faucets, a face basin that sat atop of the counter as opposed to the traditional recessed basin. The bathroom was spacious and included a shower stall that comfortably accommodates a couple, a fixed and a hand held shower nozzles were available for an added comfort . The hotel was well insulated from sound despite being situated on the south eastern corner of the air port and watching TV seemed to dampen the sounds of departing fights. All seemed well the first night as we settled in from a four road trip originating in Tampa. As the night progressed it became increasingly difficult to rest, the climate in the room was unbearably warm in spite of reducing the temperature on the the thermostat.

While partaking of the complimentary breakfast the next morning we made our first complaint which was rectified immediately. It was determined the the air conditioning unit was broken, at which point we were offered a larger room which I will discuss further. Breakfast was not the hotel's strong suit, the heated items were miserably cold and the remaining offerings were quite meager or less than what you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber. However, I must say that the combo coffee machine delivered exceptional tasting espresso. Once we were finished eating breakfast we collected our new room key and commenced moving. As I mentioned previously the new room was a bit of an upgrade, the difference being a king bedroom, the flat panel was wall mounted and recessed, the entrainment room was significantly larger sans the small office which was fine by me as I had no intentions of working. We still had the same unobstructed view of the Miami skyline. The hotel had other amenities that I neglected to mention; for instance, a complete state of the art gym and a sizable outdoor pool. While we were pleasantly pleased with the hotel our impression of it did not change for the better, the complimentary breakfast had not improved from the previous day.

Check-out was as effortless as check-in with one exception. The hotel charges for daily parking which I was some disappointed with for two reasons, first this should have been disclosed at check-in, and second there is no alternative parking for guest so it stands to reason that the parking should be inclusive and not billed separately. Priceline accurately rated the hotel as a 3 star hotel which in my opinion is more than fair.

I'm with Jason A.  This was a really nice hotel!  A modern feel which is a nice change from your usual run-of-the-mill hotel.  Cheap!  Stayed there for less than $100 a night.  Not bad for free breakfast, airport shuttle, and wifi.  At this place you get way more than what you pay for.

    Room
All of the rooms have a desk, couch (not a sofabed), and full kitchenette with utensils/plates/cups/etc. with dishwasher!

    Bed
This bed was amazing and got a REALLY good night sleep.

    Bathroom
Very modern clean bathroom.  No tub (not a problem for me).  Water pressure was really strong for an amazing shower.

    Noise
Other than the occasional airplane (which wasn't that loud at all) I didn't notice much or any street noise.  Our room door was really thick and didn't here ANY hallway noise.

    Breakfast
Decent sized breakfast with egg (and egg whites), cereal, muffins, bagels, pastries, fruit.

    Shuttle
Called down before we left the room and the shuttle was waiting for us.  Hassle free!

    Staff
    Incredibly friendly and helpful!

    Other thoughts
The grounds of the hotel were really nice.  Decent sized pool, HUGE fitness room, and cool fire-pit out back. (Did not use any of them due to our short stay)

Overall, this was a REALLY nice hotel.  Really can't beat the price and accommodations.  Would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our two night stay at this hotel.  Our trip to Miami began in this hotel and ended at this hotel with a cruise in between.  Our first night we were upgraded to one of their fabulous suites which was so nice and comfortable, I didn't want to leave!  The complimentary breakfast had some good and different things, but most memorable were their delicious smoothie shots!  The shuttle drivers and hotel staff were all very friendly and professional.  On our last night's stay the hotel was booked and much more crowded as it was a Sunday of a holiday weekend.  We had a regular room but it was still nice and spacious and had a mini-kitchen, versus the almost full kitchen that we had in the suite.  I liked the hotel's lobby area as it has lots of arrangements of different sitting areas, which are needed and fully utilized during the popular breakfast and happy hours.  I loved their happy hour, but again that night the hotel was so crowded that the line reminded me of a cruise ship's buffet line.  The Brazilian airline had their entire crew staying there who made up about 75% of the line.  It was like making a mad dash for their last supper (not relaxing or "happy"), but maybe on a less-crowded night it's pretty nice as it had complimentary wine and beer, and some great snacks.  It's not "dinner" at all as some reviewers call it, and perhaps their misinformation is why they are disappointed and complaining.  The hotel is walking distance to the bus station attached to the airport, making Miami's attractions and sightseeing easy to get to by public transportation.  Overall, I can't wait to return here if I'm in Miami again as I think the price was fair, the hotel is clean and convenient, and the staff are very accommodating and pleasant.

I cannot in good consciousness recommend this hotel.  Yes, I am a preferred Starwood member.  Yes, the hotel is conveniently located.  Yes, it resembles an A-Loft hotel in design and feel.  Yes, I got upgraded at this location. But here's what upset me:
    - After a long day of travel, I rush to my room to get on a video conference call.  I fire up the laptop and sit down at the desk.  I SAT IN GUM!!!  Yes, that's right.  A freshly freakin' chewed piece of GUM was sitting dead center for the only chair in the room.  Right on my new slacks.  YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!!  Nope.  GUM.  You generally step on GUM, but honestly I have never freakin' sat in gum.
    - WiFI:  supposed to be free.  But it NEVER CONNECTED.  So I called the 1 800 service number in order to see if I was doing anything wrong.  After 30 minutes on hold, the service provider's phone system rolled me to voicemail and said they would call me back.  They never did.
    - No in hotel food.  They bring in pastries and such for breakfast, but they do not have a kitchen.  So instead of getting a good meal, I got some really crappy delivery food.  Uhg.

End Result?  I still like (not love SPG).  My last few experiences with them have been WAY sub-par.  Too bad.  And, I highly recommend the Sheraton over the Element if you're staying near the Miami Airport.

This is an awesome hotel chain. The rooms are very modern and have everything you need for a long comfortable stay. I stay here on a monthly basis for work. I really hope this brand expands. Great hotel! This location in particular is not in a great area but it's not ghetto or anything. It's about a 20 minute drive to Miami Beach.

Wow. Seems like this hotel should be reviewed by someone who has STAYED THERE.

I thought it was pretty good for what it cost. The only major drawback is that you'll need earplugs since it's not just near Miami's airport, it's practically at the foot of the runway.

Other than that, it has the same appeal of Starwood's Aloft hotels (which I have more experience with). Somewhat minimalist but very clean and modern rooms. Nice bathrooms. It's kind of like a poor man's Westin in the same way Aloft is a poor man's W. The staff were nice and despite the seemingly isolated location, it was a short drive to Little Havana, the Grove and downtown, and a somewhat longer but still reasonable trek to South Beach.

    For 3,000 starwood points or $100/night, it's a steal.

The concept of the 'green' and extended stay Element is cool, but I was hoping for more from from Starwood's newest Miami location.  I travel as a SPG frequently for business and this is the lower of tiers amongst properties. I'd reccommend staying here as airport crash pad ONLY, as I did.  It kind of reminded me of dorm for working visitors. No wow factor or extravagance, but a solid choice. You get what you pay for.

    Pros:
-Staff. They kept up with Star woods name and were courteous, young professionals. Accommodated my room requests.
-Price: I used a mere 3,000 Starwoods points but cost is reasonable for a new hotel
-Airport Shuttle is complimentary runs every 30 mins. Cold bottled water upon pick up is a nice touch.
-Building is new. Cute fire pit and small pool on back patio.
    -Free Wi-fi
-Those on extended stays will benefit from kitchenette, microwave, fridge, kitchen supplies.
-Lux coffee machine available 24/7 in lobby. Makes great hot cocoa, cappuccinos, espressos, lattes. Yum! Also nice teas and cider offered. Lemon water, too.

    Cons:
-NOTHING is walking distance, but shuttle will take you to nearby restaurants. If you want to run outside only do so during daytime and go the the nearby park. You can try to run the golf course but I got kicked off. Otherwise a few treadmills are in the gym.

-Noise. As mentioned the runway is no more than 1/4 mile from the hotel. Staying on the south side will dampen the noise. Stay on the north side and you get a nicer view of the 'lake' but will hear planes throughout the night. Bring headphones or earplugs.

-Cleanliness of rooms: It had only been open 6 weeks when I stayed here but already there were heavy dark scuff marks on walls.

BOTTOM LINE: If in a pinch again, I'd stay here.

Best value!!! Great hotel....clean, modern (very Ikea-like) and staff are very accommodating. Ignore all the negative reviews; those are the type of people who hates anything & everything!! The best thing about this place, they are pet friendly at no extra cost. We traveled cross country with our 2 dogs. Most of the hotels that accepted pets were less desirable and small. We had a 1 bedroom suite with a kitchenette and comfy sitting area. It's nice to finally find a decent hotel that accepts pets. Definitely be back if we are ever in the Miami area again....even without the dogs!!

We literally stumbled upon the Element in the middle of the night on what was supposed to be our first honeymoon night. We had originally rented a condo on South Beach but upon our arrival we had an awful experience with the property manager and the property itself (not as described at all) and spent the day trying to find a suitable plan B. After going from hotel to hotel in search of something suitable (it seemed that even the big brand hotels were old and smelly) The Element was like a glowing lantern on a dark scary night. We were greeted by Leo who was the epitome of grace and professionalism. After speaking with him we booked on the spot! We had to wait for hours before we could check in given the ungodly hour that it was. The day shift came in and Tamerys was gracious enough to let us check in way early since she knew we had basically slept in the car. Once we mentioned it was our honeymoon Tamerys went way over above and beyond. She had a gift bag sent to our room with wine and a few munchies. It just kept getting better from there. Any time we needed something it seemed as if before I even got a chance to hang up the phone after calling the front desk there was a knock at the door with what we needed. I could go on and on. This hotel is beautiful and absolutely welcoming but the staff... the staff make this hotel the amazing destination that it is!!  Anna, the lady assigned to clean our room was always kind and courteous. She gave you that feeling like she was a member of your family. Carlos and the guys in the night crew are always cheerful and just walking by and seeing them at work made you want to smile because they were always smiling. Thanks to The Element our honeymoon was saved from near catastrophe. We guarantee that whenever we come back to the Miami area, The Element will be the ONLY place we will EVER stay at!!

I stayed at the Element as my condo had no water or a/c due to a big issue in the building - and it was a breath of fresh air.  The rooms themselves are AMAZING, they have really taken modern to heart.  For those looking for an extended stay, the rooms are amazing - complete with an actual cook-top, microwave, fridge (full size) and even a dishwasher!  The bathroom was awesome, great "rain" type shower (and of course a handheld sprayer) and the room was truly amazing.

Anytime I have an emergency, I'm going to stay at this hotel!

Dollar for dollar, one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. I've stayed at hotels twice as expensive as this one that weren't half as nice.

My first impression was how nice and efficient the staff were.  The shuttle driver picked us up promptly from the airport. He was friendly and informative in regards to places to grab a drink and a bite to eat. The front desk was equally as friendly, allowing us to check in over 2 hours early and later recommending a good night spot. They even called the cab for us!

Our room was very clean and had all the amenities that one could want for a short or extended stay; stove, dishwasher and a large fridge. The room also had a really nice layout.

Overall, a wonderful experience and I highly recommend the Element Hotel.

We used points for our four night stay here, and i don't think we're particularly picky but feel free to consider us too picky when you read the comments below.  My overall comment is you need to micromanage your experience here if you want anything out of the ordinary.

We booked two rooms for four nights (one for my wife and me, and one for the kids).  We called a few times to confirm adjoining rooms but were told that adjoining rooms aren't guaranteed.  When we got there we were told we could get adjoining rooms so we were glad about that.  But the front desk said the room was ready, and in fact the room wasn't cleaned/ready yet.  So we had to wait for cleaning.  The next day one of the rooms wasn't cleaned so we had to ask for cleaning (they are supposed to come every day for cleaning).

The rooms have a mini kitchen - microwave, refrigerator, sink, dining ware.  So that's very convenient if you want to buy your own food.  There's a number of grocery stores nearby but I do have a comment on the location - it's the middle of nowhere and the neighborhood is a bit seedy (i.e. strip bars).  The hotel itself is clean and modern but the neighborhood currently is under a lot of construction (25th St) so getting there is a bit of a pain and travelling to or from during rush hour is tough because you're hitting airport traffic.

Parking is around $8/day plus tax.

Good things about the hotel - they have a nice gym with free weights, a few universal machines, ellipticals, and treadmills.  They offer free breakfasts in the morning and a light dinner at night (salad and a sandwich).  The pool is heated so that's also very nice.

The service overall is mediocre.  The laundry room ran out of detergent and we asked for help and they basically said they didn't know when they'd get more so we should go buy some ourselves.  It seems like a lot of people there just started working so a lot of employees seemed a bit clueless.  I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lot of turnover.

Overall not a terrible experience - if you're travelling for business it will be just fine but if you're looking for a spa/resort or vacation spot, this is not the place to go.   Better to pay more to be closer to the beaches.

I'm back to Yelping after not going many new places the past few months. I'll start my latest batch of reviews for my recent trip to Miami with a review of my airport hotel, the Element. I write this review from my room....

    PROS:

    1. Very close to the airport, so an excellent choice if you arrive late or leave early.
    2. Inexpensive / good value.
    3. Very comfortable beds and nice decor in the rooms.
    4. Free breakfast - fairly good for a hotel.
    5. Free coffee all day.
    6. Free wifi in rooms.
    7. Free shuttle will take you anywhere within 3 miles, including restaurants because...

    CONS:

    1. There is nowhere to eat within walking distance, and the hotel does not have a restaurant. Sucks if you arrive at 9 pm after a cross country flight.
    2. I have 4 pm late checkout and housekeeping has literally knocked on my door six times already today asking when I am leaving, beginning at 9 am!!!
    3. Hotel serves a "light dinner" around 5 pm. Consisted of carboard-like bread and some cheap looking cold cuts and cheese. Ick.
    4. Hotel seems to be full of European tourists.

All in all, I was happy with my two stays here during my business trip to Florida. I would certainly stay again but plan ahead food-wise.

I stayed here when I had an overnight layover in Miami. It's only a 5 minute drive from the airport and they have a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport. This was my first Element that I've stayed at and I was very happy with the service, room and the cleanliness of the place. It's a very modern setup that includes hardwood floors instead of carpet. VERY comfy beds! We stayed in a one bedroom suite that included a kitchenette.
The front desk was kind enough to offer up places to eat and places that deliver food to your room, just what my husband and I needed after a long day of flying.

Awesome hotel! I wound up staying here last minute and they were able to book me gov't rate no problem. It's a new hotel, big, green(Eco) and inviting-you just feel good walking in. Staff is friendly and their complimentary breakfast is great (for what a complimentary breakfast typically is). What struck me about this place is the little details they put into it. There was an expresso machine, seating was fabulous, tables were cute, the rooms are spacious and came with a fridge, microwave, dishwasher and small sink with a water filter! Loved the bathroom with the body wash pump and the complimentary ear plugs. Overall a great hotel for the value. I would definitely stay here again.

Are the people who are writing reviews kidding me?  Have you either a) stayed at the hotel or b) understand for $100/night or 3000 Starpoints wThat you should expect?  You're probably the same kind of person who gets pissed off that McDonald's didn't offer silver cutlery with their Happy Meal.

The hotel is located about 5 minutes from MIA, and is in an industrial area by LeJeune.  You will need a car to get anything, as others have mentioned.  But who visits Miami and doesn't rent a car?

Helpful staff who are eager to please.  Rooms (had a king bed/queen bed couch pullout room) and hotel is very well designed, and looks modern chic.  Continental breakfast was one of the best free breakfasts I have ever had, complete with fresh fruit (blueberries, grapes and watermelon).

Some mistakes made, such as soap and shampoo labeled the same, and cleaning staff which didn't clean out the fridge.  But easily overlooked, given the value of the hotel.

If you want a quiet room, ask for one facing the street, and NOT the poolside.  You will have no issues with the planes.

Also, there was this guy who was constantly swimming in the pool, and kind of looked like Shamu. I wish he wore a T-Shirt to cover up or something.  I uploaded a picture for you.

New hotel. Clean. Only thing good about the location is that it's right next to the airport. They don't include any parking fee information on the website. They stick it to you when you get there. When we asked about parking outside of their gates, they implied that our car would be broken into. Nothing but shady warehouses in the area.  Nothing within walking distance. Customer service desk is staffed with immature young kids  who seem like they've never stayed in a hotel themselves. Our key wasn't activated and they didn't offer an apology or even acknowledge their mistake. Breakfast is not good. No protein served and it has a college like feel in the lobby. Nice hotel. Location is not the best. Service needs more training.

Very conveniently situated near MIA airport, although there are some ongoing road works at the moment, which means you have to access the hotel by driving round the block.

The hotel itself is excellent for a short stay, the rooms are studio style with a very reasonable standard of kitchen. The bathroom is minimalist and trendy and the TV/gadget box is a real boys toy. You can hook up your iPad, charge your iPod and phone and there's even a small desk if you want to tap away on your netbook to take advantage of the free wifi.

The free breakfast is a reasonable standard but you might want to get there in front of the "silver surfers" before they turn up ahead of their Caribbean Cruise briefing. That said, there is plenty of casual seating inside and outside the hotel, by the adequate and handy pool area.

Only oddity, in my opinion is that there is a $7 fee for parking on site. Don't get that!

Anyway I would definitely stay here again as a stopover hotel.

Brand new hotel. Even though it is listed as three star hotel, this Westin braand hotel is not less than any five star hotels if not better. It is a green and power friendly hotel. Everything is nice from the receiption to the rooms which has a full kitchen with brand new equipments.
As an SPG member i was waiting for this hotel to be completed when they were building it in order to check it out because they were talking about the new technology they were willing to put in these nice three stars.
They serve very nice and efficiant breackfast from 6:30am till 9:30am and on weekends till 10:00am. At 5:00pm they serve a light meal with beer and wine for those of you who drinks, absolutely free.
Parking is never an issue and i think they stoped charging for parking fees. This location is very close to the Miami airport and it is located in very nice area, even though it might look unsafe but as a man who knows Miami because i lived in it, i can tell you it is very safe. It is surrounded by shipping warehouses and all of those have security cars driving around 24/7.

The room is very comfortible and the bed was super. friendly staff and a nice pool.

I will be back if i'm planning for a short vacation.

Amazing experience at this hotel! Beautiful spacious rooms and some of the nicest staff I have ever encountered. They truly care about your experience and are willing to do anything to make it better. Cannot recommend this hotel enough.

The hotel was very clean.  A different concept but a good one - green & conservation oriented.  Breakfast was very good.  The rooms were well equipped with MW, fridge and dinnerware.  We were only staying the evening so it was more than we needed.  The hotel provided a shuttle to local restaurants within a 3 mile radius and we took advantage of it.  The recommendation was LaRosa and it was delicious!  Only downfall was that the lady checking us in didn't speak English very well so it was a little uncomfortable.

I wouldn't necessarily stay here again. It was fine if you are just staying for a lay over but it isn't in a nice area, it is very industrial right near the airport. I did like the free hot breakfast with new items each day. An espresso machine, mini muffins, breakfast burritos, and so forth, but don't be late as they do run out of items.

Room wasn't ready upon checking time. Sink was broken upon entry but repaired very promptly. Unknown mess in microwave. Curbless shower, leaks everywhere. Flooded bathroom with first used and subsequent uses, there was no way around this. Floor slippery and constantly wet due to shower, major slipping hazard. No trash bags in cans leading to wet substances in can bottom. Some towel items missing, like hand towels and wash cloths, had to find a maid for missing items on first night, other times just did without. Couch next to TV so must watch from bed, odd set up in some rooms. Closet storage only. Limited bathroom counter space. Cleaning crew came around 3pm, 4pm, and 5pm. Sometimes more than once always easily heard in hallways starting around 9:30am/10am. Walkie talkies heard loudly in halls at all hours. Took two days to figure out "do not disturb" option was a small magnet, clever but explanation would have been nice. No room service. No brochures for local things to do and downstairs computers offline. No checkin/welcome information in room. Good: Free travel via chauffeur to nearby restaurants. Very close to airport and near enough to arenas. Nice pool. Nice view. Nice breakfast and occasional dinner, comped. Nice front desk service 24hr/day. Bathroom has handicap bars everywhere. Sit down option available in shower with separate spout. Nice decor. Always smells fresh and clean. Each room has its own electronic temp controls. Awesome beds. A very nice place overall. And very "green" business.

[Note: This is a well-earned one star review. I don't dish out one star reviews haphazardly, and it takes extreme circumstances to score one from me.]

Easily the worst Starwood property I've ever stayed at, with the most immature and unprofessional front desk staff I've ever encountered. My first impression was from MIA airport when I called to request the hotel shuttle. The man at the front desk said, "Yeah, sure, it looks like a 'rape van.' Will be there in five minutes." [Very classy.] 45 minutes and several confusing calls later, we just grabbed a cab.

When trying to straighten out my folio and get Platinum nights credit today, we first had to witness staff bickering and complaining and playing grab-ass with one another for several minutes. Shock, annoyance and bewilderment ensued when I finally was allowed to present my query.

The facilities were fine; I can't complain about the room or common areas. But as a Platinum member who stays at Starwood properties just about every other week across the country, the Miami Element, sadly, takes first prize for lousy and unprofessional service. It brings down the entire Starwood brand.

Surprise to find my perfect hotel. With construction and boring outside appearance I was stunned by the comfortable European feel and setting.
They read my mind from progressive electric pump station to recycling, I cannot contain the green in me.

Generous and free, healthy breakfast and afternoon snacks, you can freshly ground your coffee, relax in numerous seating options. Opened modern space and great service, can they do no wrong?

I can go on and on, just come and enjoy the details they cover: updated airport screens, free fruit at fitness center, open fire pit outside by pool, etc etc
    When can I move in?

This may be among the nicest hotels I've stayed it. It's a shame that I was only here for a 12-hour layover between St. Lucia and Las Vegas via Miami. A cruel joke that one of the nicer hotels I've stayed in has been one of the shortest hotel stays I've ever had.

The front desk will suggest some restaurants to you, we took their advice on the Cuban place and were not disappointed.

It took 1 1/2 hours to get checked in. Things went downhill from there. No happy hour as advertised. Phone in room didn't work. No one available to get it fixed. That meant we couldn't get a wakeup call. We were told a clock would be brought to our room. It never arrived. Breakfast was pathetic. Very nice room though.

Had to call the hotel 5 times to get the shuttle.  Each person I spoke with acted as if I was calling for the first time.  Kept overpromising (he's 8 minutes from you.  He's 5 minutes from you) and underdelivering.  Then they double-billed me for the one night i stayed there and I'm fighting to get one of the charges reversed.

Despite the mixed reviews, I decided to give element a try. The hotel concept is nice but needs some work from Starwood.

Location: Yes, it's conveniently located next to Miami international. Your room will be in the flight path. Directly. You will hear planes taking off or landing every 3 minutes, almost 24/7 as cargo planes fly in overnight. It was definitely bothersome. If you're here one night because you arrived off a cruise and fly out in the morning?  No big deal then. However, there is nothing nearby. Hungry?  Good luck, not even a list of restaurants nearby that will deliver (seriously, would it be that hard to put Domino's number in the rooms?) Warehouses servicing the airport (think Sky Chef) and various mechanical shops are here. It's a little scary at night.  No food in walking distance. Wouldn't walk anyway.

Service: I was pleased with the service. Everyone was very polite and friendly all the time. Even the maids.

Breakfast: Okay. The breakfast sandwiches were decent but mostly slightly warmer than ice cold. Fresh juices and coffee were available too.

Rooms: Mostly well appointed and clean. Our window shade had a food fight with a child that was never cleaned up - gross. Otherwise clean. Liked the mini kitchen a lot!  The AC was programmed especially to be green. I'm not sure how green it is when it runs all night. I found it oddly difficult to control the winter tundra coming out of the vent and directly onto my face as I lay in bed.

Pool/fitness area: Very nice. Would've liked to see a hot tub but not a big deal to me.

Because of the location (in the ghetto and in the flight path) I won't be staying here again.

I have to say, if you're a Starwood junkie, you're in the greater Miami area for work and you need a reasonably priced, pretty nice hotel near the airport, this is your joint. Based on that scenario, no complaints. I mean yeah, you're near the airport, so you're going to hear some planes. No biggs - just shove the earplugs in if it bothers you (yes, they provide earplugs for the planes). The rooms are nice and clean, the staff is excellent and they serve a nice little happy hour each afternoon. I wouldn't stay here unless I wanted to be near the airport since it's not close to the downtown / beach area, but if that's your bag then I totally recommend this place.

This place is very close to the airport and the car rental terminal.  Probably the closest hotel which is actually nice and affordable.

    Here are the goods:
    1) Clean
    2) Brand new in appearance
    3) A/C worked perfectly
    4) Kitchenette in the standard room
    5) Gated for the sense of security
    6) Free breakfast included
    7) Super clean rooms
    8) Great bathroom
    9) Comfortable bed
    10) Functional desk that I could actually do work on
    11) Great gym room, clean with good equipment (for a hotel)
    12) Wednesday nights is BBQ night sponsored by the manger
    13) SUPER nice staff at the front desk
    14) Nice decorations in the lobby

    Here are the bads:
    1) Parking is all outdoors, so it is hot, not much shade
    2) A/C only cools to like 70 degrees (it is a green energy hotel)
    3) Breakfast foods are kinda gross
    4) It's on a small back street, so you will need GPS in your car to get back to it

This is NOT A RESORT HOTEL, this is just a great hotel if you need to be in the Miami area for business or short-layovers for a couple of days.

My wife and I have stayed at many higher-end hotels in the Miami area, and the Element is worth coming back to for our week-end business trips.

Love this hotel! My boyfriend and I stayed for just one night before leaving from Miami on a cruise ship. The room was surprisingly cheap-$79. When I got there I couldn't believe how nice it was. It was all so modern. Everything in the lobby, pool, room, etc., was completely updated. I've stayed in so many hotels that were very nice, but just had old furniture and appliances. Not at Element though! The showers, the faucets, the headboard of the bed, the lights by the pool, everything was clean, modern and eco friendly. Also, the guy at the front desk was EXTREMELY nice and helpful. He gave us a toiletries, advice, and a pamphlet for a company that delivers food there....kind of pricey, but probably the best pizza I've ever had. Seriously.
They have a free shuttle bus that runs from the airport every half hour and it was very convenient for us. There is a free breakfast in the morning that has something for everyone- spinach wraps, cereal, waffles, fruit, etc. Stay at this hotel! It is seriously underrated and not enough people know about it. The only thing I didn't like about it was that there wasn't a bar....yet. But it's supposed to be coming soon.

When you book a hotel in an unfamiliar area, are you concerned? This was my recent troubles. I never stayed in an Element Hotel, neither was I very familiar with the Miami airport area. I had gone to Miami airport on several occasions, but never really checked out the surrounding areas. I was in for a pleasant surprise.

When the weather does not cooperate sometimes our GPS gives the wrong directions. I was tempted to stop and ask directions when my GPS had me turning into a very industrial area next to the Miami airport. Is this right? Yes, it was. There stood the hotel. But a hotel in the middle of an industrial park? From the pictures a very nice hotel at that. The front desk confirmed I was in the right place.

It is always a blessing when a weary traveler is extended a kind greeting at the hotel. Element Miami International Airport Hotel's staff was friendly, courteous and willing to Google any questions they did not have the answers for. Maybe because of the hotel's location, some of the more desirable dining venues are farther away and require deeper memorization. But some venues should come to mind immediately, especially when the cuisine is very Miami, Latin. Needless to say, still a very amicable and welcoming staff.

The hotel lobby is a stellar compliment to the hotel surroundings. Industrial and modern elements combine with earth tones to create a very relaxing and urban feel. This understated chicness extended to the outdoor pool with ornate lighting and secular seating. Even though this is an open space, short walls create a sense of privacy.

Stepping into the elevator and hallways continues with earthen tones. The Room décor transcends modern urban tones with an adequate kitchen, work desk, sitting area with separate sleeping area and bathroom. Grey rectangular tiles with raised sink and full glass doors provide a very tranquil spa like bath experience.

Views from my room looked directing on the Miami International Airport runways. Being this close to the airport you would imagine lots of noise. Not really. The thick glass windows dampen sound efficiently. Ear plus are provided bedside, but not needed.

This is a hotel that allow dogs. Naturally, my four legged companion was along for the ride. I searched within the hotel's fence for a doggie run, potty bags or disposal containers and could not find any. Maybe I just could not find any nor did I ask. No water containers nor feeding mats neither. I normally walk with my own amenities, but you have to wonder. A hotel that allows pets and no amenities? There is ample grassy areas within the hotel for leisure walks. However, there was no extra charge nor deposit. Not many hotels are accommodating, so I am very obliged.

I appreciate their taste for modern style and green initiatives, which are evident all over the hotel. They even have an electric car recharging station. There is something to be said for the Westin brand to spin off into locations that are less than conventional. Evidently, there is a huge market in the four block radius. Not withstanding the close proximity to the airport. All of these surrounding companies must have traveling representatives. Very wise business decision. The Element has struck a right cord with this hotel.

Im an avid traveler. Flew into miami international airport with a reservation at the Element Hotel. Waited for a shuttle for one hour fifteen minutes. called the hotel 4 times all times was put on hold and then told it would be there in 5 to 10 minutes. No care or respect. Finally picked up and the excuses start from driver it's the other driver he says. Get to hotel Manager Mike Eaccallum says he is sorry but reminds me shuttles are every thirty minutes. He continued the same approach to ignore what happened that they did not maintain the shuttle schedule.  The lack of care in his behavior was evident. I threw my license and credit card on the desk and then he cared ... he said that was disrespectfull and he asked me to leave the hotel. I had to ask twice to refund my booking.

when traveling you dont want to test your patience with the worst of customer care. I suggest staying away from the element hotel or any hotel this manager may be involved with.

To.leave this review on a positive note I checked into the Sofitel and pleasant smiling front desk agents greeted me and the hotel is very nice (much nicer). By the way the rate was even less.and got a beautiful lagoon view.

First negative review I have ever written. You deserve to know.

Hands down this is the worst Starwood property I've ever stayed at. Starwood is my number #1 favorite hotel company and I'm so disappointed with the service here. When we arrived around 9pm we wanted to grab a quick drink and bite to eat before we headed out to meet up with family. The first drink took at least 10 minutes to receive. No big deal, we were all in a good mood. We then waited at least 30 minutes before we were even approached by the bartender to see if we wanted another round, even though our drinks were empty for some time. Once we ordered the second round, we still had to wait another 10-15 minutes to actually receive our drinks. We're talking a beer in a bottle and a vodka soda. This should take 2 minutes. The bartender made a joke that since we were so nice she would make us wait only 3 minutes longer, and disappeared back in the kitchen. During this whole time we waited over an hour for an order of sliders and spring rolls and they came out cold. My guests and I are all in the service industry and couldn't believe throughout this whole time that the manager, Rosie, who was standing in the bar the entire time, did not come up to say a single word to us. When we asked for the manager we were floored that it was the individual standing in front of us the whole time. When she came over she was rude and degrading. She insisted that we pay our $60 bill for cold appetizers that took over an hour. She was snickering to other servers about us right in front of us. I will be telling every single person I know to stay far away from this hotel. Unfortunate because the rooms are nice and the location is convenient. Hence the two stars.

As an avid traveler who prefers Starwood properties, particularly Westins, I was excited to try this property out. I did go in knowing two things that some reviewers appear to overlook. 1)this is an airport hotel and 2) this is the cheaper version of a full Westin.

With that context in mind if was a great stay. Nothing better after a day of travel then to come into the lobby and be welcomed by the familiar Westin fragrance - white tea I believe. From the moment I walk in I expect a great nights rest.

The front desk staff was friendly although not the best trained in customer service. They did their 'job' in a friendly way but there is a big difference between that and good customer service.

While it didn't happen to us we did witness first hand issues with the shuttle service. Clearly this is not an isolated issue but a big problem that needs to be evaluated for an airport hotel.

The one bedroom room was fantastic, the bed heavenly and the shower was wonderful. A nice kitchenette if we were staying longer but we never used it.

The breakfast was sufficient but they lacked special diet options I would have expected to see from a Starwood property.

The shuttle service to the cruise terminal was fast and efficient.

Thank you so much Element for a lovely place to stay so last minute. Many of us had missed our connecting flights on AA b/c of the customs fiasco. Tamerys at guest relations was so pleasant & helpful at Element.

The hotel is welcoming & very clean. Perks such as a one bedroom suite, shuttle service, free breaky (all day coffee/tea) & a friendly staff. There are other amenities such as a gym & pool, business center & lounge area.

I would definitely stay here if I'm passing through Miami.
