This is a top notch, hip hotel in downtown Miami near the Bay.  While service is not at the level of a Ritz or Four Seasons, they took care of most our minor issues quickly and pleasantly.  We opted for the Club Level access, which gives you entrance to the 29th floor lounge, where you can get drinks, snacks, glass of wine, and even a light breakfast - all included.  The pool area is located on the 16th floor, and is an uber-hip, modern take on a pool deck.  We were given a covered "bed" poolside (no charge) and brought water with fresh slices of orange.  Soon after, we enjoyed delicious mojitos, bloody marys, raw oysters, ceviche, and an amazing bowl of French fries topped with thinly sliced Parmesan cheese - wow!  They have a night club off the lobby entrance, which was easily heard (even though we were 20 floors up!).  Area 31 is a great seafood restaurant in the hotel, and they have a decent spa and a nice exercise facility.  Two small complaints: the AC in the room didn't cool enough, and we spent both nights hot.  Secondly, they took 30 minutes to locate a package that was delivered to the front desk for me, delaying my check out.  They were extremely polite and professional, however, and everyone made us feel welcome throughout our weekend stay.  Overall, this is a funky, sleek hotel in Miami's Bayfront area; will definitely stay here again.

We decided to head to Miami for Thanksgiving weekend, we have always stayed at the Four Seasons but decided it was time for a change and went with the Epic.  The hotel lobby  is very contemporary, upon arrival we were upgraded to a water view room, which was great.  The rooms all have balconies and we did like that, the Four Seasons does not have any balconies.  Our room was okay, it smelled sort of funky, there was hair in the shower and a stain on the comforter, not acceptable to me.  Anyhow, the hotel provides water and hot chocolate in their lobby and also tea and water in their spa room, but during our stay rarely were these filled, if you're going to do something nice and provide guests with free refreshments at least keep on top of it and replenish them.  The parking was $32 and you had to valet, so really $32 per night with tip every time you wanted to take your car in and out, which kind of stinks.  There were a few positives, the restaurants were great and I liked the fact that the rooms had balconies, room service was more reasonable than the Four Seasons and you can use the Turkish Hamam for no charge, which was awesome.  Update to this, there is now a charge to use the Hamam for guests and the girls at the spa area are not the nicest to deal with.

Like I said it was A- Ok.

    The Good Side..
The staff on the whole was very friendly, and accomadating. The rooms were VERY clean, decor is to die for, and the view was great.  Room service food was amazing, but very pricey. Big Plus with flat hp comptuers located in the room.

    The Bad Side....
They overlook details that even average price hotels seem to able to get done. Such as the MOLDY  berries on a room service plate.  There were light bulbs that had burned out in the room and we asked on our 1st morning here to have changed and it took them 2 more days to do that. The same thing with the in room refridgerator. Took two full days to fix it.  We had no cold water or cold soda. On our last evening here, we decided to splurge at the hotel restaurant only to be told that there was no room. Yet, we can see from our balcony that there were empty tables. We can't really figure that out. We had requested a quiet room when we booked our reservation, and ended up with the room over looking Biscayne Blvd, with firetrucks and ambulances all night.

    Overall Experience......
It could of been the best hotel experiences ever, but all of these "minor" irritations added up to a mediocre review. Will I stay here again? Probably not. For the same money you can be down on the beach front.

Oh did I mention all the photoshoots going on? Kept us up with the strobe lights flashing on the terrace below our room.

I love this hotel. It's gorgeous, the staff is attentive, and the location is great. We rented a car, but you really don't need to since there are tons of restaurants and shops walkable and South Beach is only three miles away. The pool is gorgeous, and the pool attendants are so helpful. The rooms are really nice, and clean, and they have an iPod hookup, courtesy umbrella, and other practical amentities. I loved having the Exhale spa and Area 31 restaurant right there. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a nice little get-away.

A contemporary, high-rise hotel in Miami located on the edge of Brickell and Downtown.  Great rooms, spectacular views and very good service.  I'd recommend this if you find yourself in South Florida and don't feel like battling the scene at South Beach 24 hours a day.  It also has a very good gym and a nice restaurant called Area 31, which is located by the Pool on the 16th floor. A good choice.

Please note: I am going to write 2 different reviews below about my experience at Epic.  One review will have a 1-star review about my experience with one specific employee - the concierge, Sonja Hoffmann - and the other review will have a 5-star review about my experience with another employee - Seth McDaniels - and my experience at their restaurant on the 16th floor called Area 31.

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    This is the 1-star review.

A number of my colleagues have been staying at Epic for the past few days for business meetings.  Today I met one of them at the hotel for a meeting.  While I had a few minutes to kill, I asked the Chief Concierge, Ms. Sonja Hoffman, for her recommendation on a nice restaurant that would be comparable to their hotel restaurant, Area 31, in the Hollywood, FL area since I have an important client to take out to lunch tomorrow.

    Here is what happened...

Both Sonya and Seth answered my questions about restaurant suggestions and gave me a few restaurant names.  After discussing my limitations based on time, location, and client needs, we landed on two different restaurants.  Sonya said she would make reservations for me at both restaurants but asked that I be sure to cancel the one that I did not choose to attend as it was the hotel's reputation that was on the line.  I told her I was an event planner and know how critical that was, so I promised to do that.

Now when Sonya wrote down my details to make the reservations, she asked for my room number and I told her I wasn't staying at Epic, but my colleagues were.  I gave her my email and phone number instead and she said she would email me confirmation and the addresses and phones for both restaurants within the next 30 minutes.  I trusted that she would do that based on the quality of the hotel, and her position at the hotel.

Now, it is it is almost 6pm and I called both restaurants 1) to confirm that they both had received my reservation request from Sonja, and 2) to cancel the reservation that I was not going to use.

To my surprise, neither restaurant had been contacted with my reservation requests, nor had Sonja emailed me any details or let me know she wasn't able to make the reservations.

This is a very important business meeting I am scheduling at this restaurant and had I trusted Sonja Hoffmann to do her job, I would have been left without a reservation and been highly embarrassed in front of this important new client.

Lesson Learned: Do not rely on Sonja Hoffman at Epic Hotel in Miami, FL to assist you in any way or to help you with any kind of reservations.  Do it yourself as you can't count on her to follow through.

Also, do not tip a concierge unless you see her make the reservations for you and she provides you with the details you need.  I actually was stupid enough to tip Sonja before I left her desk and now I'm out the cash and didn't get the reservation.

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

    This is the 5-star review.

Today I had a business meeting at Epic Hotel in Miami, FL.

While I had a few minutes to kill, I asked the gentleman behind the front desk, Mr. Seth McDaniels, for a recommendation on a nice restaurant that would be comparable to their hotel restaurant, Area 31, in the Hollywood, FL area since I have an important client to take out to lunch tomorrow.

    Here is what happened...

Although Seth is not the concierge, and therefore, this was not his primary responsibility, he very happily started making some suggestions of different restaurants that might be a good fit for my needs tomorrow.  When he ran out of suggestions, he recommended that I speak with their concierge for more details and more suggestions.  While I was talking with their concierge, when he wasn't busy with another hotel guest, Seth came over and continued to offer some good suggestions.

About 30 or 45 minutes later, after I had left the concierge desk and gone over to sit next to the windows to do some work, Seth came over to me and asked me if I had made a decision about which restaurant I was going to attend and gave me more positive input about each of the restaurants.  Then we chatted a bit about other things such as where we each were from.

And later, when I was leaving the lobby, Seth gave me his card, wrote his name and email address on it, and told me to get in touch with him if I needed any additional assistance or needed any assistance booking future reservations in the hotel.

Lesson Learned: Seth McDaniels is a friendly guy who is very helpful to Epic Hotel visitors and he is your go-to guy for some solid information. He gets 5-stars from me for his winning customer service attitude and service.

Also, the ambiance, views and tasty food at Area 31 restaurant, on the 16th floor of Epic Hotel get my top marks - especially since the prices were so reasonable for what you received.

It's very do it yourself. We checked in an had to wait for Valet to see us, then we had to ask for a porter, then the receptionist was a bit confused as to the configuration of our rooms. He also attended us while finishing talking and laughing with another receptionist. Very unprofessional and unwelcoming. I called over a month ago to ensure we had 'connecting' rooms. They said the room doors could be open and we would share a hallway and be able to lock the main door. The problem: the doors are extremely heavy and don't stay open. The other problem: apparantly the
unhelpful lady at the front desk 'sara' said there is only one doorstop in the entire hotel. I asked the housekeeping and 10 minutes later they
came up with 2 doorstoppers. I asked the housekeeper about them and
she said they had plenty. Clearly, someone somewhere is confused.
Also, the porter had forgotten some packages from the car when we had
asked for everything to be taken down. It would not have been a problem
except he said that there was a wedding and everyone was confused.
Too bad for hotel guests I guess. Housekeeping did not turn down the
beds the first night. The rooms were big but the windows covered with
prints and the couch was uncomfortably stiff and dirty. There was a half
eaten cooke under it. Room service forgot some items even though I
asked them to repeat it and I didn't realize until after I waited for the
missing items they had forgotten salt and pepper. This has all been within
24 hours. Hopefully, day 2 will be better. Day 2 our keys don't work for
the 4 th time and the receptionist claimed this time it would work and if it
didn't we could just walk down again. I said excuse me but it's 10pm and
if it doesn't work you can send someone with us to bring the keys to u for
the 5th time. They didn't work, the person she sent with us took the keys
    and never came back.
The next day I got the keys from a new receptionist who apologized and sent someone with us to check if they worked. It seems on the weekends the service drops drastically.
The bottom line is that it's cheap for the amount of space you get but that's pretty much it. The cleanliness is fair, decor is fair, service is obismal and the downtown location is good.
The next day was a bit better. A new older receptionist apologized and looked shocked when I told er about the keys. The acknowledgement atleast felt better.
Bottomline: this is a do it yourself place. What service there is which is minimal does not exist on the weekends. I figured out the managers must not be there during the weekends because the staff wa extremely young, unprofessional and clueless. If you want a place that gives you a large space with minimal comfort and service, epic hotel is your best bet. I chose this place due to their response to travelers critiques. It seemed they took the time to answer back to criticism. I thought that meant they did something about it. Based on my experience, they don't.

So I may be a little bias since I have somewhat of a Kimpton-fetish but I loved the Epic hotel.  I've never had a bad experience at a Kimpton and this hotel is actually the nicest one I've been to.  I'm part of Kimpton's inner circle program so they upgraded me to a water-view suite which was huge and had a balcony in both the living room and the bathroom.  What hotel has a balcony in the bathroom?!  Amazing.  They also had a bottle of wine, fruit and chocolate waiting for me.  I had to tell my girlfriend that I'm not that big of a deal they just go over-the-top to make you feel like you are.

The pool(s) are on the 16th floor and overlook the city/bay and are very nice especially from 5-6pm during wine hour.

This was my second time staying here.  The first was for business.  This hotel is truly a no brainer if you are in Miami for business since it's in the business district.  If you're there for fun, it's about a 15 min cab ride to South Beach but I didn't find that to be a problem at all.

It was my second time staying here and I'm already thinking about another trip latter in the year.

Sadly I was not a huge fan of Miami, but this hotel redeemed the trip.  The rooms are very nice, if a bit small, but there was a huge bathroom with an amazing tub from which I still had a lovely view! Large, comfortable bed - with a view! I loved the balcony which overlooked the pool and the river, it was just too humid to sit out there for too long. Ugh! I really enjoyed the pool area and spent long periods of time just chillin out and having great food and drinks brought to me and swimming in the pool.  Definitely the best part of my trip! If I ever go back to Miami, I think someone needs to show me the hot spots! Also, the hotel is pet friendly and the Exhale spa and fitness center is amazing for either working out, taking classes or getting pampered. Very much enjoyed my stay here!

Loved this hotel -- we stayed here when our conference hotel was sold out.  Very glad we did - they spoiled us!  Everything about the hotel is new - we had a gorgeous room, with an enormous bathroom -- soaking tub and separate shower.   The beds were great and there is a computer with internet access at the desk in the room.  We had a nice balcony to sit out on in the mornings as well.  The concierge staff in the club lounge were pretty lousy, but we didn't need much from them.  The girls who took care of the kitchen in the club lounge, were great!  They cooed over my daughter every morning and brought her oatmeal with fruit (her fave) everyday.  In fact we would call them on our way to the lounge and they would have it ready for her.

The front desk staff and valet staff were wonderful as well.  My daughter loved the fish they had at the front desk so much that they put a fish in our room for her.  She absolutely loved it - and they sent someone to take care of it (feed, water) each day.  It's a pet friendly hotel, so there were always dogs around in the lobby area, which delighted my daughter as well.

Not Consistent, Great when they are not busy, not soo great when they are sold out

The Epic is beautiful, modern, not pretentious, and has a very courteous staff. They really try to be a five star hotel, however after staying in places like The Four Seasons and the Ritz, I would say they just don't have quite the feel. If you are looking for a very modern, fun, hip vibe, this is the place for you..If you are looking for a very lush, relaxing, pampered feel, then stick to the Four Seasons down the street.

My husband and I went to the Epic before and after a cruise last month. The first day/night was incredible, they gave us an early check in, the luggage came over with us, the service was good at the pool, etc. It was a girl friends birthday who was staying in another room and the concierge Andrew was nice enough to run and get her balloons and flowers on a rainy morning! (Though he brought them to her in a cup instead of a vase, but he did really try which was impressive).

Now for the second time around the following Saturday. We came in at 11am, the hotel was completely sold out. There was the boat show and several large weddings. The room wasn't ready, which was understandable so we just went to lay down by the pool. They told us they would call when it would be ready. 3:30pm rolls around, no phone call so finally we go to the front desk again. The girl at the front desk was completely overwhelmed. It really seemed like she had no idea what to do. After 20 minutes she found us a room and up we went. We were told our luggage would soon follow as we gave her the tickets to send it up. An hour later, no luggage...I call down and they said they were looking for it and asked who did we give the tickets to!! After another 30 minutes, still no luggage, so I finally ran downstairs. Apparently the overwhelmed woman left for the day. One of the bellman went on the hunt for our luggage. After another 20 minutes my husband and I decided to peak behind the front desk and there was our luggage right up front! It definitely put a damper on the day as it was about 6:30pm by the time this was resolved!
Never the less, they really do try and care which is 99% of it. I am sure they will be amazing in another 6 months or so.
We ate at both restaurants, and the pool which were all impressive and delicious, though the portions at both Area 31 and Zuma were tiny. If you go to Zuma you must try the Alaskan King crab legs..TO DIE FOR.. Also the massage with Olivia at the spa was heavenly.. I felt like I was floating after I left!
We loved the pool area bed's and furniture. The only thing we really wish this hotel could have is an outdoor hot tub. That would have been really nice on the cool afternoons.

First let me say, anything you need they will make sure you get have it. I stayed at the Epic over the weekend. My room was on the 22nd Floor with a cityview and an amazing open air bathroom. WHOOOO! I was in heaven even if only for one night. I had a 3pm check in but got there early and they had no problem with early check-in. I enjoyed every amenty I could in the time I was there. I can honestly say that if you need to escape from your life, even if only for a day this is definately the place to go. Because that is exactly what I did. I checked in, turned off my phone, went to the spa, swam in the pools, had lunch and dinner and a lot of drinks poolside, went to a concert at the convention center, then had a great nights sleep. I got all that I needed from this hotel and more.

This hotel is a great choice for Miami and a super alternative to hotels in South Beach (it's only 10 minutes away anyway).  The staff, pool, gym and restaurant were all terrific.

The rooms are very tastefully decorated and have great views and wonderful bathrooms with separate showers and large bathtubs.  They also have nice flat panel TV's and a pc (you can also hve wireless if you have a laptop) in each room.  Great linens and the beds are quite comfy.

First let me say, I'm a very stingy with my stars for hotels, so 4 stars is considered very good in my book.  This is a lovely hotel, with an amazingly breath taking lobby (with a fashion photo shoot going down while we were there).  Its located on Biscayne in the newer area of down town Miami, where all new skyscrapers are built.  I hadn't been to Miami in about 6 years and was surprised by how many new swanky buildings there are.   This area is about 10 minute cab from South Beach (across the bay).  Similar to the Mandarin the design is comfortable contemporary (some Asian influence), lots of large floor to ceiling windows.  We stayed in a mini suite ($549) - spacious with big flat screen TV that swings around to face bed and sitting area (smart use of space), great linens, excellent view from 17th floor, nice master bathroom with two sinks, closed in toilet, a sunken tub and a stand up shower.  Great "light dimmer" function in suite, makes for great late night ambiance!  Since this is a Kimpton, don't forget to use your Kimpton frequent stay card, we got a free upgrade and $100 in spa credits.

Spa experience is not nearly as good as Mandarin, but nice.  It appears Gym and Spa are outsourced to a fitness club, so you don't get "special service feel" you would at Mandarin or any O&O spa.  Treatment rooms are very nice (zen like), changing room is nice but very small with few amenities (although they do have a nice steam room).  Gym is large with lots of good equipment (treadmills with TV's) etc...  Not sure about pool, didn't get to see it.

Cool outdoor roof top Restaurant and Bar on 19th floor, with comfortable couches and chairs overlooking city, we went there for a drink (all Kimptons have a free wine happy hour).

With so many hotels in Miami to choose from, you need to decide what experience you want.  I looked at hotels on South Beach, but have found that many are old and worn (and it can be noisy down there).  It's hard to know what you will get.  If you want a new, very hip, cool hotel, that has beautifully designed and appointed rooms, consider this one.  Be prepared for $20 cab fair to South Beach.

The EPIC Hotel lives up to it's name... EPIC!  You walk into the lobby and the first thing that you notice is their HUGE lobby with their crazy high ceilings.

My room is awesome.  I have a balcony and a view of the water.  I have already spent half a day just sitting on the balcony and reading.

In the bathroom, I have these awesome sinks where the bowl sit on top of a table.  Also... I have both a shower and a bath tub.  The shower head is hung from the ceiling which is kind of awesome because I'm tall.

    The bed is ridiculously comfortable.

Each morning they bring me the Wall Street Journal and the local paper.

The customer service is above and beyond.

It's part of the Kimpton Hotel chain, which I go out of my way to go to if they are where I'm staying.  This one lives up to my expectations.

I think the nightly price is pretty crazy.  I'm part of the Kimpton Loyalty program so I got a special deal.  I'm not sure if I would have stayed here otherwise.

This hotel was awesome. Enjoyed my stay here. Tons of great things.., maybe not Area 31 though. I also stayed at the Viceroy.., which is better. Staff here was well presented and friendly. Quick on their feet to serve us. They have this cool Microsoft/Zune table in the lobby which I find helpful, fun and cool to have.

When we first got there we asked the front desk for a good place to eat at and they recommended us a good place that will delivery to us. Yum. The pool is about a 4 star to me. The area nice. got some good tanning with the girlfriend. The gym there don't have too much to choose for the equipments and exercises. The Spa/Massage place was a bit over priced. We ended up getting a fusion massage which was like a relaxing one and a deep tissue one. It was about $320 for our couple massage. Area 31.. you can check my review on Yelp for it.   That's about all I can remember. I would stay here again.

My review for this hotel is probably a tad bit unconventional as I am not reviewing the hotel itself but rather, an event that was sponsored here by Gilt Groupe.

My experience starts from valeting my car and walking down the steps to the nice grassy area. Said event was VIP status and definitely worth the drive down. Imagine working out (doing yoga and core work), listening to a live dj (spinning some decent tunes) on the Epic lawn. Let's not forget to mention that the weather was gorgeous - not too cool, not too hot. Just perfect.

After an hour of butt-kicking taught by your very own Epic instructors, it was time to get some breakfast. Unexpectedly, there were drink stations, breakfast setups and even BMI and acupuncture checks. All around healthy morning. BTW, the drinks were incredibly yummy as was the fruit and granola. YUM!

The instructors were very experienced and taught an array of classes in the gym upstairs. If I lived closer, I would definitely to stop in and take some classes.

A great big thanks to the Epic staff (and obviously for Gilt) for making this event heart-healthy and smooooth. Everyone was friendly and always on top of their game, never letting fruits, drinks, towels or seating run out.

As for the valet, picking up my car was quick and painless. Hopefully I have a chance to come back and experience the full 100. Until then, I'll have the lawn memories. Brunch does sound lovely though. :)

Good to come with your significant other or a good group of friends.. See you all there...  By the way it includes eggs pancakes, all that good stuff and of course alcohol mimosas etc!

We should do a Yelp event here!

I don't have a single bad thing to say about this hotel - I absolutely loved my stay here this week.

The hotel is new and refined in every way.  The rooms are great, equipped w/ nice linens, a great TV, free internet usage and beautiful views of Miami.

The shower has one of the rain shower heads, which I love and I was tempted to take a bath in the very relaxing looking tub.

Beyond the room, the Area 31 restaurant was great and situated on the 16th floor w/ a great patio, couldn't have been better.

Further, they have an Exhale spa and yoga center for those so inclined (I wasn't this time around) and their pool area, w/ cabanas and infinity pool provided a super relaxing way to work away an afternoon -- sort of :)

I actually wish I could have spent more time her checking out this place. But, overall, I was quite satisfied. The rooms were pretty big, clean, and nice. The lobby was pretty and fairly modern. If you use the meeting rooms, they were nice. And the staff at this hotel really is wonderful and friendly so no complaints there.

Also, I had a lot of fun at the bar at the hotel restaurant. Lou from Peru was making up some pretty tasty Pisco Sours and overall it was a good time. They have a cool bar by the pool as well. Wait, now I'm starting to sound like an alcoholic....

Wonderful staff very accommodating, and pleasant. We went for brunch (which is apparently very popular there) but there weren't any regular brunch foods (no eggs, biscuits, etc.). Instead it was more of a lunch, they had random fish and meats out with pasta.
Since we are vegetarians the waitress (who was very nice) let us order off the regular menu. The food was good but we had a hard time finding something to order that didn't have meat in it.
The crowd that hangs out there can be somewhat snobby, but the staff is pleasant. The patio is the place to sit if the weather allows.

this is hands down the nicest hotel that i've stayed in thus far. now i almost always will stay at a marriott or spg hotel, even considered intercontinental hotel, since i have points with them too.. but having compared jw marriott, intercontinental, and epic and looking at people's review for all three (used tripadvisor too), this was hands down the best option. i dont even regret the fact that i dont get points for my stay!!

    check in process
very very helpful. we got a room upgrade for free and because we had requested a double room, the hotel lobby guy apologized that we couldnt get the ocean view and were given the river view instead and gave us complimentary drink tickets. he also informed us that they had daily complimentary wine for guests at a certain time. we weren't even expecting everything and we got so much more!!

    the rooms.
the rooms are AMAZINGGGG. you have a separate shower and bath tub. you have two sinks. a DUAL FLUSH toilet door to separate it from the rest of the bathroom. good lighting in the bathrooms. robes. flat screen tvs. desktop computers in the room to surf the web for FREE. its a bit slow so i ended up paying $10 for internet, which is still cheaper than some other hotels i've been to. the bed, the pillow, the sheets are so soft and comfortable. you'll want to stay in bed all day! they also have a balcony with two chairs and a table so you can have some outside air.

they have two restaurants. one on the first and the other on the 16th floor. never tried it but it got decent reviews. most ppl valet their car but you can go down to the valet window and ask them to get a cab for you, which usually doent take too long.. they have pools on two sides of the hotel. one is the nice one that we see in the photos and on the other side they have three more small pools. its nice b/c you can sprawl out and just lay and soak in the sun.

if you don't have the $$ to stay in miami beach, but still want a really nice hotel for a decent price, this is really the place to go!! for the price of a room here, you'll probably get a very low scale hotel on miami beach. the taxi ride from downtown to the beach is about $20 and about 15 minutes.. a bit annoying but very do-able

OK, we are English but we thought this Hotel was perfect. Great Setting, fabulous views, helpful warm service.  The complimentary Wine Service on the deck bar between 5pm & 6pm made for a perfect start to every evening and an excellent way of meeting up with fellow guests. Free wifi and a free use computer in every room just added to the perfection.  Did I mention the comfort of the beds ............ I could go on and on ....................

I was recently in Miami for a work conference at the Epic Hotel. What a stay it was. From the moment I walked in I felt at ease. From the life size Jenga board, to being greeted with a glass of wine, and to the extremely sweet and friendly check in this place was great from the start. I was extremely satisfied with my room. The bathroom was beautiful with great fixtures, a beautiful tub and a great stand up shower with a rain shower head. The bed was also extremely comfy... The pillows were a bit soft, but that's nothing to complain about, really.

Onto the conference: they really outdid themselves. The conference rooms were great, and not stuffy like many are. Being on the 14th floor with floor to ceiling windows definitely helps with the ambience - people were energized and the space was great.

The staff there was incredibly friendly, always willing to help and extremely knowledgeable of what to do and where to go.

After my conference was finished my fiance arrived for a nice weekend stay in Miami so we got to enjoy the other amenities the hotel has to offer: roof top pool, lounges, restaurants, etc. Fri night we decided to go to Area 31 for dinner and drinks. This was really a deciding factor for me, actually. We ended up going to dinner pretty late. Say around 10:30pm. When we arrived the hostes told us they just finished seating tables, but we could sit in the lounge to eat. No biggie, it was late and we wanted to just enjoy ourselves. As we're sitting about to order drinks the hostess comes over and says "you know what, I'm going to seat you over by the window, it's only two of you". We thought, wow that was really nice of them. They totally didn't have to do that. It really made the evening - our waiter was awesome, young and knew the menu. He also made suggestions and even gave us complimentary drinks. Never a bad thing. After we finished eating we went out on the patio for some more drinks and listened to music. It was a perfect cap to a good meal.... Notice how I said good meal, not great meal. Well everything about the meal was GREAT, but the food wasn't the best I've had. Def top quality, but not spectacular. Still, I'd go back, no question.

On to Kyma lounge. Love this place. The bouncers were even nice. That sounds like an oxymoron, but it's true. The staff was nice, it wasn't over crowded, and the drinks were STRONG.

The next day we spent at the pool deck. It's beautiful. Not to sound conceded, but I've stayed at some extremely nice hotels around the world, many of which are famous simply for having a nice pool deck (cough, Mondrian LA, cough) and this absolutely rivals any of them. Besides the fact that children are allowed there, but that doesn't detract from a thing.

All in all if you're in Miami and don't feel that you need to stay on South Beach, stay here. It is beyond worth it and you'll be made to feel welcome and special. They even let us have the room an extra three hours on our final day just because we were flying late.... Hands down the best service ever.

I was in Miami for a caribbean cruise and stayed here for a night. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous! When I first stepped into the lobby I was immediately impressed. The interior design was very upscale, the celings extremely high, and they even had a very elegant christmas tree set up.

We stayed in their Cityview Deluxe room which was very nice. I especially loved their rain showerhead! Their room service was very fast and hotel staff extremely friendly. I would definitely stay here again.

Also, prior to booking the reservation, I had found a great deal online for a room here. I called them to see if they would pricematch and they did! This hotel should absolutely be your top choice in the downtown Miami area.

Best views, close to the arena if you are in town for a Heat game, close to Bayside mall & docks.  Luxe to the max.  Heck, ALL of the rooms have a PC in them.  Yup...pimpin'.

Totally chic.  Zuma is on the first floor, Area 31 is on the 16th floor.  Great great hotel.  Top of the line away from SoBe.

After several months of waiting to visit the Epic I finally convinced some friends to go. Upon arrival the staff welcomes you with open arms. You instantly get an inviting feeling that reminds you of going home to visit parents after a long time.

Check-in is quick and the staff mentions some quick tips about the hotel to get you started. Our room was exactly as described by the hotel website. Nothing but spectacular! Plus, anything you need in the room can quickly be accommodated.

All of the staff quickly learns your name, if you share, as to acknowledge you at passing. If you ask for tips or suggestions the staff will ask how that excursion went the next time they see you. Simple things but they are much appreciated.

I will be making another visit here for certain!

    Ok maybe 4.8 stars
We took a pre Christmas long weekend to Miami . both our jobs are crazy busy over the holidays....relax before the stress !
With the art bezel people filling up the SoBe hotels we tried the Epic in DT Miami and we were very satisfied
Excellent customer service, quick check in and bags to the room quickly.
The room was beautiful and spotless. a huge balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the inter-coastal. We saw manatee and dolphins swimming through.
The rooms are very similar in layout and decor to our Las Vegas favorite the Cosmopolitan.
Housekeeping was invisible and the room was always made up no matter what time we left it for them .
The pools while a little windy were wonderfully heated and the attendants did a great job with the towels , drinks and food service.
The lobby bar/club was cracking both Fri and Sat nights, no cover and strong drinks.
The .2 star deduct was for the valet and doormen. There always seemed to be a traffic jamb and they were a little slow in getting taxi's . Seemed more interested in driving the very high ends cars and talking to each other.
We would visit again if not staying in SoBe

I traveled during a lull season and got a great deal.  It was *as good as it gets* for this price and the location.

The hotel was exactly what I needed: Miami, downtown, financial district, away from crazy South Beach, quiet, modern, spacious, sparkling, clean, and blue.  Very blue.  The pool is awesome and has that Miami blue chic mixed with Japanese zen. Everything you'd want in a business class hotel.

I spent the day by the pool side cabana reading.  I felt like at any moment J Lo could appear by the pool side.  At night I fell asleep with the balcony door left open, looking over the sparkling Miami skyline and water, lulled by the tropical breeze and shimmering reflections. My blue carbuncle.

Amazing hotel. Excellent service and my room was super nice. Drinks are expensive at the bar but it is Miami. But, the free drinks from 5 - 6 everyday makes up for it. All Kimpton hotels do this. I stayed here for two nights for my firm's annual meeting recently, and wow.  I hate it when hotels are nicer than my condo.

There are a lot of great things about this hotel  The rooms are beautifully appointed and spacious, and the bedding was fabulous.  The rooms have it all - huge soaking tubs, king size beds, a huge balcony, rain showers, the works.

The hotel itself is equally as opulent.  The pool area is simply gorgeous, and the free wine happy hour they have every night wasn't too shabby either.  The pool staff were fantastic -  they kept the drinks, towels, and sunscreen flowing.  Everything is sleek and modern.

I wouldn't stay here if you want to hang out in South Beach - it's a $20 cab ride!  But if you're traveling to Miami and need to be near the financial district, the Epic is the way to go.  Bonus - it's pet friendly!

First got addicted to the view at the Epic's Area 31.  We had my 30th birthday there and it was quite the party with great views and food.  We later stayed at the actual hotel for our wedding and it was truly amazing.  The bridal suite we stayed in was beautiful.  My pictures came out gorgeous with all the natural light in the room.  The bathroom was perfect for many bridesmaids to get ready.  Not to mention GORGEOUS with back to back mirror and modern everything.  I am so excited to go back to stay there for an anniversary or special occasion :)  We never used the pool (ran out of time) and we wanted to see our family/friends who were staying in other hotels nearby.  The staff was great and they even helped us with flowers/getting around.  A sweet server at Zuma even offered me hairspray (if you experienced the wind that day you would understand)- how darling was he?  Room service was a little pricey but I guess that is everywhere.  A month later walking around Brickell I got asked "were you recently married at the Epic?  You looked beautiful."  So of course I will always have fond memories of this great place.  Valet is probably the only thing I dislike but I think it is just due to how busy/popular it is.  I just expect to wait now although the guys are always nice and the price is comp'd if you do Sunday brunch at Zuma :)

Really enjoy the food at Area 31 restaurant and looking forward to hitting up Zuma for dinner soon.  The pool bar is decent with a younger, more casual vibe and the pricing isn't bad for the location.  Zuma's bar is vibrant with a more, trendy, professional, adult vibe.  Both bars have a vast selection of top shelf and call offerings.  Kyma bar is a waste of time, due to bad service, a crappy set-up and overpriced drinks. Don't valet here on the weekends if you need to get out in a hurry.  The wait is as long as 20 minutes at times and the humidity and exhaust from all of the cars will turn you into a sweat box.

I didn't stay here, just had dinner at the restaurant on the 31st floor but this hotel is so awesome, I have to write about it.  When you think of Miami, what do you think of?  Nice cars, beautiful views, ladies well dressed and etc.  This is what the Epic hotel is all about.  It's like walking onto a movie when you enter the lobby.  It's so effing nice.  The awesomeness doesn't end there.  We go up to the 16th floor where the restaurant is.  There was this one pool with lounge chairs, I took a picture of it because the scenery was so perfect.  Then they had another pool area with cabanas and everything.  I know I am just blabbing but that is because I get so excited talking about this hotel, it is so awesome.  Out front at night it's what you would think from an awesome hotel, men and women well dressed waiting for their cars. the Ferraris, Maseratis and even a boat parked on the side (on the water).  I said it before and I'll say it again, this is the kind of hotel I need to hang out at.

A group of us stayed here for the weekend. The room was beautiful, the views were spectacular, the restaurant downstairs served amazing food and overall, the experience was great.

The hotel is dog friendly, going above and beyond just allowing dogs; they actually welcome them openly. Theres a little doggie bowl with treats and a welcome sign out front, and a huge football field sized fenced in area where your dog can run and play. It's a dog owners dream.

We had a few little inconveniences with the maid service, a wake up call that we didn't request, and a few other little issues. I went down to speak with the management about them, and they went well above and beyond what I ever expected them to do. They refunded a staggering amount of our bill and were polite, helpful, and so professional that we were blown away. This place will treat you like royalty and make sure they do EVERYTHING in their power to ensure you are fully satisfied with your stay.

This hotel is an amazing experience, and I'm so grateful to their well trained staff for making our stay perfect.

The Epic is a great hotel.  The hotel staff was fantastic and made sure our stay had no flaws.  My stay lasted a week and was a mixture of business and pleasure.  The pool staff continually ensured that we were fed and well cared for in the drink department.  I can't say enough about the staff which is where the rubber meets the road in this industry.  My only ding was with the housekeeping.  I had a couple of minor issues and the housekeeping manager took care of them immediately.  There are two restaurants on the property.  Area 31 and Zuma.  It is also located close to Mary Brickell which has a LOT of restaurants and bars.  Only a 20 minute cab ride to South Beach.

Other than the fact that one of the pools was empty (of water) during our stay, I can't think of a single thing that didn't meet or exceed any expectations I had going in. The suite was big and had wonderful views, both from bed and from the giant balcony. The bath tub with jets was also huge and wonderful to lounge around in for an hour. I'd highly recommend this place for business travelers in particular, as the location is somewhat inconvenient to the South Beach destinations that most leisure travelers are sure to want to visit.

The Epic Hotel is modern, accessible, with first rate amenities. We stayed at the Epic Hotel before our Celebrity Cruise. Epic is ultramodern from the grand foyer right up to the room. We had a bright light filled room with a bay view framed by high rise condos and yachts. Ashley greeted us at the desk with a warm smile and enthusiasm to ensure we had a good experience. When she learned it was my birthday, she sent us a wine toast. On Ashley's recommendation we had lunch at Area 31 the roof top restaurant. The Area 31 food was delicious. We had seafood, salad, and wine. The 3 for 1 lunch deal was wonderful. Natalie F, our server gave us great recommendations and attentive, but not intrusive service I predict Natalie and Ashley will one day run the hotel. Klimpton Hotels are distinctive. This was our second Klimpton Hotel stay. We stayed at the Klimpton Hotel in Washington, DC, another gem. We will be back to the Epic Hotel Miami.

I decided to take my husband on a birthday/anniversary weekend getaway to Miami and stayed at the Epic. It's located like a 15 minute walk to the Brickell Village or a $5 cab ride. The hotel is absolutely cool and modern. The front desk are supremely nice and so welcoming. I told them that it was my husband's birthday and our 1 year anniversary and they upgraded us to a beautiful suite, and while our room was getting ready, they sent us up to a private deluxe cabana by the pool. Once our room was ready, they notified us and there was a bottle of champagne on ice with 2 flutes sitting there with a handwritten note congratulating us. It was genuinely sweet and we were so grateful that they were taking such good care of us. On checking out, they even knew that Sunday was my husband's birthday, and everyone from the front desk to the guys in front hailing the cab for us said Happy Birthday to him. I think he was really touched.

The staff at the pool were really nice, getting our chairs ready for us, drink orders when we needed it and were pretty efficient as well. The view from the pool was nice and despite the wind, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable time.

We even checked out Kyma (the lounge) and Area 31 for lunch (by the pool).  I would definitely come back!!!

I have also written a review on trip advisor. Stayed there for 4 nights and from booking to end, they were the best.

First when I was booking and for one night, we were staing in a city view, rest three nights in ocean view, so I called the hotel and talked to Chris and asked him if he can give us a ocean view for the city view price for that single night and he did without any questions asked. Chis is a wonderful person. He has great customer service.

Another incident. The first night, the month was May, it was very hot but the ac was not working and the bathroom had a problem too. AC did not work the whole night and when i called the next morning to complain, the manager (don't know his name) gave us the whole previous night off including parking as a compensation for the trouble. Wow! I had not even asked for it but he gave that, that was amazing, what a nice manager and hotel.

This is a luxury hotel, the location is AWESOME, you enter and you see these luxury yatchs all around the hotel, you feel great. Everything was good, nothing to complain. If I ever go to Miami again, this is the place to stay.

I was in Miami a few days ago and had the honor and privilege of staying at the Epic Hotel. It was truly wonderful.

Firstly, when you arrive at the building, it is BEAUTIFUL. all the sexy valet boys are dressed to a T--ironed chino shorts, and ironed shirts in a light pastel-y yellow, mmm. Then there's a man whose sole job is to open the door, kind of awesome.

The lobby is magnificent, not pretentious at all, very modern with high ceilings, light colors, and just so much space. Very simplistic yet chic. Everyone who works in this hotel is so nice and welcoming and goes out of their way to help you out and explain everything. Seeing as how I arrived at around 11 PM, I didn't check out the lounge or any of that but I'm sure it was amazing too. HOWEVER I did get to eat at ZUMA which is located in the lobby (and more on that later!!!).

Anyway, my room was on the 24th floor, overlooking the Briscayne Bay (??) I think I'm not sure but some awesome body of water haha. The room had a beautiful tub, robes, sink, bed, I mean everything was just so nice and modern and simple and light. If you sign up to be a Kimpton member they give you 10 dollars to riad the mini bar and free wifi! If not, they have a computer in every room where you can use the internet.

I left immediately bright and early the next morning, but for my first time in Miami, the Kimpton Epic Hotel was AMAZING and I will definitely come back.

A longtime fan of Kimpton, I've been to many of their boutique hotels - Vancouver, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, DC - and I can say unequivocally that the Epic Hotel in Miami is the most stunning of all. Its grand entrance hints at the gorgeousness found within. And service is, without a doubt, five star.

My room had a terrace that overlooked Biscayne Bay which, combined with the balmy weather, made for a terrific 24 hour escape from the cold in New York. The deep tub (separate from the glass-walled shower) was inviting and the luxury bath amenities from Acqua Di Parma were a welcome indulgence.

The Epic Hotel has a 13,752-square-foot wrap-around pool deck with two swimming pools. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to swim on this visit but I did admire the pools from my terrace and also while eating lunch at the hotel's restaurant, Area 31.

Its waterfront location is just seven miles from the Miami International Airport - welcome news for travelers, to be sure. Though you're within easy distance of the madness on South Beach, you'll definitely feel removed from that scene here (something I was quite happy about.)

But this was not a flawless experience. My biggest complaint has to do with the lack of sound privacy I experienced during my night's stay.

Despite the fine Italian linens against my skin, I was abruptly woken in the morning by sounds emanating from the room next door. No, my neighbors weren't recklessly using their outdoor voices, blasting music, or. . .worse. I suspect at least two of them were under five years of age and using pretty appropriate tones.

I place the blame squarely upon the Epic Hotel. The place is not sound proofed well. And unfortunately, that'll be a difficult problem to solve.

In the end, as a business traveler, what does one want more than the ability to get a peaceful evening's rest without interruption? Well, maybe one thing. . .a plug in close proximity to the bed. That, was also missing. A brand new hotel that did not have the foresight to install outlets in the bedside lamps or somewhere equally close? Color me confused.

On the whole, I was impressed with the Epic Hotel and I'd come back and stay again. But I'd be sure to ask for a room that might afford me a modicum of sound privacy for as much as I love fairy tales, I don't want to hear other people's being read aloud whilst I am still trying to dream.

T'was EPIC.  Aqua di Parma bathing products, full spa, gym, classes, 3 pools equipped with cabana and cabana boys and girls and a fancy restaurant.  This place is beautiful and honestly I didn't ever want to leave.  The bath tub was big enough for two people as they were so deep and luxurious and the showers could hold up to 4 people, although I didn't try and of these risque' activities but I thoroughly enjoyed the space as SF is quite the opposite.

Recently decided to stay at the epic for a night. I had the club level king Waterview room, which was not fully Waterview. It was consist of city view and waterview. The room was clean, bed was super comfy room service was great just about 20min wait each time. During the first night I decided to stay an extra night called at around 2am I was informed over the phone that I would have to come down at 7am where a manager on duty would handle that, came down at 7:30am got it changed easy. Went back up to my room hoping to sleep that's when the vacuum noise started til 4/5pm it just wouldn't stop. Luckily I was so tired I slept thru it.

Now onto the bad part THE VALET! Upon arrival it was just a huge wait so packed it was was traffic out to the street. About 13min later finally pulled up to the front where valet signal you to pull-up on top of each other it was horrible then one valet would just run up and throw you a ticket. The next morning I had to get my car, I texted the number that was on the ticket and went down ask if my car was there the girl said sorry we don't do call-down for yellow ticket and your total is $20. I informed her I was a hotel guest I have in-and-out privilege she responded with "oh really? you are,? why you have a yellow ticket". She then inform her supervisor I then received a blue ticket waited almost 40min for my car. Now when it say "PLEASE REMOVE ALL YOUR PERSONAL BELONGING" on the valet ticket they " MEAN IT. My first night I was so tired I didn't have a chance to move my luggage out the trunk along with 4 bags of clothes that was nicely folded in the bag. After I got my car and arrive at my destination I popped my trunk it was like a crime scene clothes was thrown all over the place, shoes box was opened and out the bag. No words can describe how it looked but then again I left the hotel already and it did say to remove your personal belonging so I couldn't complain it was my fault.... Please literally remove everything from your car before giving your car to these people!!

My overall stay at the epic was amazing minus the valet.

This place was absolutely amazing. I stayed on the club level with my family during 4th of July weekend.

Our view was awesome, the room was chic, and the staff was so nice. The hotel was also pet friendly, which was kind of cool because I'm an animal lover. The pool area was great, and the cabanas were fantastic. Overall, the Epic made sure we had a very relaxing weekend. I definitely recommend booking on the club level.

My only complaint was the food from room service. It was slow, and not very good. We also tried to eat at the bar/restaurant downstairs, and they said we couldn't because my brother wasn't 21. We asked the hotel about it, and they said that the place isn't really affiliated with the hotel even though their entrance is in the lobby. Either way, their menu wasn't very good either. If this place can kick up the quality and variety of the food, it will truly compete with major luxury hotels in Miami.

Yes, this hotel is worth those 5 stars above my review. It is new, clean, great service / staff and the overall experience was perfect for a Miami hotel. My family has a two year old and the hotel went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of upon check-in. A bag was left in the room as we rushed out to catch our flight. The hotel was nice enough to immediately drive it to the airport in-time for me to receive it before my flight. Wow, what service! Thanks Wolf (security contact) for making that happen!

    The hotel is immaculate.
We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom Suite with a huuuge terrace and bay view and given champagne and a cookie just b/c our friend mentioned it was her bday weekend to Farrah ( the cocktail hour host ).
We were treated like royalty from everyone there from the bell hop to the concierge to the check it,  Top notch!

I've been to Miami many times and this is by far the best hotel ive stayed at.  Its great for bachelor/bachelorette weekends because you dont even need to leave the hotel!
    Dont pass this place up!

P.S. we drove but one night we wanted to get our drink on... so we opted to take a taxi to sout beach .. it was ony a 15 -20 taxi from downtown. So dont be deterred if you dont have a car.

Oh yeah and sign up for their kimpton rewards membership.  We got a bunch of perks because we signed up like being able to raid the mini bar :)

I love Kimpton hotels- however, I found Epic to be disappointing. The valet is the first impression and I was not impressed nor the doorman then next the front desk. Where were the smiles, greetings, etc. I have never had such poor service in a Kimpton hotel. The view was amazing, the room service wait long but was ok food. My dogs loved the nearby dog park. The for lease sign outside is a bit off putting. The decoration done very well. My favorite Kimpton hotels have been found on the West Coast- Plaomar in Los Angeles and San Diego. I am an intouch member and very disappointed.

While the hotel looks great and draws large crowds to its lounge/bar and pool, it's the quality of the crowd itself that makes you wonder whether this hotel has officially jumped the shark.

Upon arriving late on a Friday night, I felt as though I'd stepped onto a set of the Jersey Shore.  Add to this, the ridiculous line to have our car valet'd and multiply this by the fact that the hotel doesn't have 24 hour room service (despite literature in hotel saying otherwise) and it officially made me just want to stay shuttered in our room.

Calling the front desk around Midnight, we were told they could make us a chicken quesadilla.  Said quesadilla showed up an hour later.  Late enough that the waiter serving it, actually told us that we would not be charged for the food.  Upon tasting it, I couldn't agree more.  We would have ventured out for more food options but were told that downtown Miami is dead on the weekends, especially at that time of the night.

The hotel rooms themselves are well accoutered and decorated.  As has been said, linens are Frette.  The bed was comfortable and the towels plush enough to lead to acquiescence.  We had a pool facing view and first thing in the morning, the balcony is the perfect place to be.  Of course, the fact that the balcony chairs are less than comfortable, means everyone goes down to the pool vying for lounge chairs.  It would have been great to have been able to just have our own reclining lounge chairs on the balcony as there's plenty of space for it.  Would make having breakfast/lunch in room more pleasant as well.

The soaking tub is fantastic as is the rain forest shower head in the glass enclosed shower.  The double sinks would be great if they didn't emit a high pitched noise everytime either we or our neighbors turned on a faucet.

It's not that this hotel isn't nice.  It's just not 5 star nice.

Our favorite hotel in Florida; luxurious, elegant, impeccable service, a pool, a wellness centre, and two great restaurants - the only place to stay in Miami. Get a room on the club-level; the private lounge with ultra-helpful staff is an absolute delight and the view from your room will take your breath away - constantly!

When it comes to Kimpton hotels, it ends up being which Kimpton one-ups another.  So far, the Epic Hotel ranks among the best Kimptons across the country (it's on par with Ink48 or my DC favorite, Lorien Hotel & Spa).    Quality of service is superb, lobby is elegant, and pool deck luxurious.  Plus, there's a great view from the 27th floor.  [Original Visit: November 6, 2011]

I was lucky enough to stay here for two nights on one of my work trips, and it was a remarkable experience.
-Amazing customer service, especially from the manager on duty.
    -Beautiful accommodations
-Not only is the pool amazing, but it has plenty of shade options for us pale girls
-Best room service breakfast ever. I had fresh pastries with home made jam, totally worth the carbs.
-Bath soap, lotions, etc that you would actually want to bring home extras of.

Staying at a Kimpton hotel is really worth it. When you travel as much as I do, attention to detail not only matters, but makes it so much easier to relax when you're there to work.

Everything was great untill in the morning, when I had to pick up my car at the vallet parking, To beging with they took for ever to bring my car back, when I drove out of the hotel noticed that my Ipad was stolen from the car, had to call like 5 times to get in touch with the vallet manager because he never answered returned the messages untill I finally got in touch with him. He said that the hotel security would check the surveliance system and would call me the next day wich they didn't. After 4 days passed by without recieving any call, I sent an email to the hotel on thier website and the hotel security manager called me the very next they, after he called me the vallet manager started calling me and texting me constantly asking me for infortmation an even a copy of my driver's license to file a complaint, after I gave him all the information that he asked me for he texted me saying that the complaint would be resolved within 48 hours, the next day I get an email from them telling me that they are not responsible for anything left in the car, and that my complaint was denied...

I stayed here for a work trip and all I've got to say is that this hotel is absolutely beautiful.  Everyone that works there is friendly and genuinely nice.  The facilities are immaculate!  I had a king room with a water view that look down on the pool (its a gorgeous pool on the 16th floor with a view of the city all around).

What really tickled me was that there is a window in the bathroom above the bathtub that looks into the bedroom...so you can take a bath and watch TV or see your partner in your room!  There is a shade you can lower...but I never did!  It comes with robes in the closet and the shower is enclosed in all glass with a ceiling fixture.

If you want to have privacy you push a privacy button next to the door which lights up red on the outside and if you want your room made up you push a button and it lights up green outside.  It took me a few days to figure this out!

Oh and the gym!  It's like a full service gym!  A yoga room, stretching bar, lots of weight machines, a smith machine, free weights, a bench and a bunch of cardio machines complete with TVs built in. There's also free towel service.

My only complaint is that the rooms don't have microwaves, but I picked one up at Target.

I'm sure it's a really pricey hotel, but since I was there on my work's dollar, I didn't have to a pay a dime.  But if you're rollin in the chedda and can afford this place, I highly recommend it!  No attitudes, no snobbiness, just beautiful accommodations and great people to service your needs.

Very cool hotel.  Nice views of downtown Miami and the pool area is cool.

At the end of the day, the main reason why you're going to the Epic is to check out Zuma.  Amazing food.

    SERVICE:   Unfriendly, cold, stiff, mechanical
HOTEL ROOM:    Nicely decorated to Hilton standard but small
INTERNET:    Shoddy,  Free in the Lobby but too loud to do any real work
Business Center:    Connectivity good, quiet, but NO cell phone service.  And that goes for ALL carriers of service.   Good luck making that really important phone call that you really need to make.

    Restaurant:   ZUMA.... excellent!

VALET:   Horrible,  takes forever, crammed, too busy, too social, with the possibility of wrecking your car.  Good luck with that.

The reason for all this chaotic behavior???   Zuma.   Zuma is to blame.  It's too popular.

I've stayed at luxury hotels around the world and I really think Epic is one of the best. THe staff was extremely helpful and courteous and the rooms were very modern and comfortable!

The pool was very nice and warmed so even though it was windy, we still had a great time hanging out by the pool.  All the art and architechture was lovely and the resturant ZUMA was also very good.

I had a wonderful experience there, and think it was a highlight of my Miami trip! I never wanted to leave!

I recommend camping out in a cabana and hanging out for happy hour . It's a great place to just tune and forget all your worries...wish I was back there now!

The Epic is THE hotel to stay in downtown Miami.  Located with great views of the Miami River and an easy cab ride to the airport and the beach, you can't pick a better spot.  The rooms were modern and clean.  The service was outstanding.  If people watching is your thing (and it should be in Miami), then hang out at the Zuma bar, take down some Japanese whiskey and enjoy the show.

I LOVE this hotel. All the staff are alwasy super nice, the coffe hour is top notch (Mighty Leaf teas), and the pool area is great. I also love the bathrooms. (The rooms are nice too.) It was really nice to grab a complimentary iced tea and sit on our balcony overlooking the water. I wish they had the strawberry sangria that Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge, MA has but at least they have a free wine hour at all.

One minor drawback was that we asked for a low-key dinner recommendation somewhat late on the night of our arrival and the frontdesk woman recommended a nearby steakhouse. When we were seated we found out that it was far more upscale than we had requested--we were so tired we couldn't really enjoy it.

My best friend's decided to surprise me with a hotel room for my birthday. I just want to say, I had an EPIC birthday at the EPIC hotel. The staff was amazing. They were overbooked because of the Latin Grammy's but that did not stop them from accommodating anything that we needed. If they didn't have what we asked for they compensated for it with something better. Oscar, the pool manager, was by far the BEST. He really made my birthday special. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone that is staying in the downtown area.

I never had any issues at a Kimpton Hotel and generally enjoy my stays at their other locations. The Epic hotel is nice and the rooms are what you would expect for the price you pay. However, the group I was with became victims to a serious burglary crime due to poor security management. To my surprise, the hotel was reluctant to assist us in our case and, in the process of handling this crisis,  we were alarmed to uncover some very questionable management practices.

A guest in the room next to ours was essentially kicked out of the hotel after attempting to fraudulently extend his stay under another unnamed individual's credit card. The hotel had no security process for checking the background of this person (a known criminal with 19 prior arrests). Although the hotel had knowledge of this shady arrangement, no action was taken on the hotels part to charge this person for his all his service expenses but only had security escort this guy off the property and ban him from the hotel. How does a hotel even allow that to happen? According to the hotel, this guy was staying in a room paid for by some ex-girlfriend's sugar daddy (who probably didn't know there was this guy actually staying there making all these charges). Did they just charge the cardholder and forget about it? Why wouldn't they press charges or let the actual cardholder know what was going on? Anyway, that's besides our concern as our group's victimization came later. Fact of the matter is, this guest had an infamous reputation and it was clearly known throughout the hotel staff that this guy was not allowed on hotel property after being kicked out.

My unsuspecting group arrived just a day before this guy was taken off the property where we initially met this hotel neighbor (without any knowledge of his background). We began to notice shady activity in the hotel when this guy seemed to know ALL the workers at the hotel on a personal level. Perhaps this person was seen as a money maker for the hotel by making multiple charges during his stay (under whoever's card he was charging it to). In fact, while this guy was still checked into a room he told us the hotel gave him a MASTER KEY to open all the rooms in the hotel. He showed us the master key and said he could use it in case he was locked out. He then at one point walked across to another room and opened it to prove his point. What kind of hotel allows their master keys to get in the hands of another guest?! After he was basically kicked out the next day when the actual cardholder "checked out", the hotel did nothing to inform us of this. The hotel knew this guy was no longer a valid guest and yet his trespass was not enforced in any way.

The day after he was kicked out of the hotel, he used our room number to valet his car (there's proof of this on our billing) although the hotel should have known he was clearly not our guest nor did we check into the hotel with him. In fact, the hotel knew he should not have been allowed on the property.

He stole one of our room keys and entered the hotel while we were all away on the last night before we were set to leave Miami. He somehow walked right past security and robbed us of our credit-cards, Macbooks, cash, jewelry etc. Why did the hotel even let this guy back on to the property alone. And moreover, allow him to valet his car under our name? Do they just let people make charges to whatever room number you give them without backup?

We filed a police report and the hotel said there's nothing they can do. Well, there was nothing they were doing or even trying to do.. They only told us to pack up our bags and change rooms. However that was essentially the hotel's advice to tamper with a crime scene that could have been thoroughly investigated.

The manager was reluctant to help. We weren't even given any consolation that security surveillance was being searched. When I asked why a criminal who was kicked out of the hotel was allowed back on the property, manager Seth McDaniels said, "he was not kicked out, he simply checked out." When I questioned him why his "check out" included security men in tan suits escorting him out, the manager seemed uncomfortable and admitted that he wasn't a paying guest. So then why was he allowed on the property after being kicked out? I have no idea. Such an award wining hotel should have better security. Speaking of which, when confronted about this guy's access to a master key, he stubbornly told us that was impossible and all of their master keys were accounted for. I even gave a perfect description to which he had no response.

I don't know why the hotel is not doing anything to help our case and is basically allowing this guy to get away. Perhaps they already pocketed enough money out of his shady charges and did not want to jeopardize their reputation for doing so.

I am extreme disappointed by the lack of professionalism and security at the Epic and advise that you avoid this hotel at all costs.

The hotel is very nice, new, stylish with beautiful cars outside and great rooms.
    The down sides are:
Valet - $38 per night (no self parking option)
Coffee - no coffee machines in the room and no coffee shop in the hotel. If you want coffee you'll have to go outside or order room service.
Room service - a bit slow, very expensive and you must pay delivery fee and 18% mandatory tip.
Location - if you need downtown location you'll enjoy great location but if you came for vacation in Miami and looking for beach you won't find it here.

Overall it's a very nice hotel and the stay was good but they can do a little better for the price they charge here.

You'll find this hotel, in an elliptical 52-story mixed-use building of curved glass, "just the right distance from the craziness"--it sits where the Miami River meets Biscayne Bay. Designed by Cheryl Rowley, "spacious rooms are real beauties" in neutral beiges and whites, and are highlighted by floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading to private balconies. Area 31, on the sixteenth floor, serves Mediterranean-inspired seafood, and the "sommelier is exceptional." London-based Zuma brings its Japanese cuisine to a space on the first floor. Exhale Spa looks out over the city and has a treatment menu with massages, core conditioning, acupuncture, and yoga. "The rooftop bar is spectacular."

How truly EPIC this hotel really is! I want to start out by saying I am no stranger to staying at 5-Star hotels and I have admit the EPIC Hotel has by far been the BEST hotel I've stayed at! Right off the bat I was blown away by the resort! You pull up and see nothing but LUXURY cars(Mercedes, BMW, Range Rovers, Audi R8, Bently, Masserati) list goes on!! I was checked-in and even though my room I originally booked (Club Level City View-King) was not ready after the check in time I was offered to have my bags taken and escorted up to the CLub Level Lounge! I was offered a drink and snacks to kill time while my room was still being prepared! Low and behold I was automatically UPGRADED to a JUNIOR SUITE! AWESOME!!! The WHOLE entire team has world-class customer service skills. I would like to specially recognize the following staf members. Sonja, Stephanie, Raquel, Ashley, Christian and Gene. They all went above and beyond to ensure that the celebration of my 4 years anniversary went picture perfect! I have absolutely no complaints! The entire trips stay was phenomenal and I would recommend this hotel to ANYBODY who is looking to get their money's worth at a luxury hotel! It's too bad there aren't 10 stars to give because I would rate it that high if possible. I will make this my primary hotel from now on when i visit Miami! Thank you Epic Team!!

Let's face it, I'd much rather be staying in a Miami resort on the beach away from people and cement. But if you have no choice, this is a very nice hotel.

The staff was friendly and took care of everything we needed.
Room service was decent but there wasn't a wide variety of choices to choose from.
The club lounge had a good vibe and the pool and gym were superb. The updated rooms are spacious with nice balconies.

The only downside of the stay was the crowd that was occupying the hotel on our particular weekend. Other than that it was enjoyable!

I didn't stay at the hotel, but I sure wish I did, I stayed for the night life, and sure wish I hadn't. Not that it was bad, it was great. I was bad, very bad, it usually starts that way when I order champagne.

Then the place started rocken, and my credit card went hopp'en that rap star quality came out in me, but I didn't shoot anyone "darn it". The Epic is epic when it comes to night life, no recession here.

Upon waking up in the morning my Visa was melted, along with several million brain cells, I could still here the music, it was a Miami good time, with a most appropriately named hotel!

So self-consciously "cool" that it's actually comical. Desk staff is excellent. Had a 29th floor room with a water view. Clean and capacious. Yachts down below reminded me of the movie Donnie Brasco. On my first night there was an event at the pool on the 16th floor deck, and a Jimmy Buffett cover band was pretty dang loud, but stopped early. During early morning, I tried using my balcony and keeping the door open, but it wasn't super-pleasant because of the sound of traffic and drawbridge bells and the hum of, presumably, a vast air-conditioning system on the roof. Elevator cards were inexcusably flaky. Frustrating. Wine happy hours filled with chattering young people and decent wine. Everyone complains about the valet service and clearly it is a busy garage so things take time. They specifically tell you to call in advance. Do that. Or wait. The guys working there are perfectly charming, as are the lovely doormen and the cute costumes. There are, however, so many cars in the front that walking (a better alternative) seems pretty hazardous. Look both ways before crossing!

The bedroom had beautiful floor to ceiling windows in a semicircle  with an amazing view....I had to leave the shades open the whole time even though I like sleeping in the complete darkness but the view was spectacular. The bathroom was spacious and also had floor to ceiling windows. I loved all light that came in from having so many windows. Our balcony was large and overlooked the water.....it was a great relaxing weekend....and I love the kimpton hotels happy hour from 5-6pm, free wine, and sangria. I am a Kimpton Fan. This, by far, is the best one we have stayed at.

The bed was luxurious. Room is kept clean.

The bathroom had a great layout. This time the robes aren't leopard/animal print like all the other kimptons had. They use Frette Linens.

This time we didn't bring the doggies.. whom I miss!!! (I am almost home, my sweets)
The grassy area is a block away. This being said for doggie mommies and daddies.

Room service was excellent. We ordered Eggs Benedict and the Continental Breakfast (which included coffee and OJ) that cost us $38.00 which was worth having breakfast on the porch overlooking the pool and the bay. I was considering looking for a brunch place with a great view around the area (thinking that room service almost always is too overpriced), but we ended up enjoying the room service - no driving around and looking for parking. It was very stress-free - which vacations should be.

The valet was always busy though. Try to call ahead in your room beforehand.. it helps to expedite it.

Ask for a room away from elevators.

Epic Hotel was perfect.. from Check-in to Check-Out.

I had the opportunity to visit this hotel since my friend and I decided to go to their gym. From the moment u step in, from the valet  to the greeter at the door, everyone seems so polite and attentive.
My friend and I were able to enjoy a nice afternoon by the pool and it was so relaxing. The pools are locate on the 16th floor, nice cabanas and breathing view.
The area 31 restaurant is right next to the pool area, so we were able to order the frito misto which is calamari, white fish and shrimp and we also had pina coladas. Our waiter was really nice, always coming by to see if we needed anything.

I stayed here for work and really enjoyed the hotel - nice rooms and bathrooms, good food, cool Miami vibe that made me feel like I wasn't really at work.  Everything about the hotel and facilities is great.

However ... the service was not as impressive.  When I arrived at the hotel, at 11pm, the room I was assigned had a distinct smell of smoke.  Upon calling the front desk, they said they would send someone to "spray and bring a fan" - when the person arrived (15 minutes later) I decided that sleeping with the fan going was not ideal.  When I called the front desk again, they were not very accommodating with a new room or apologizing for the inconvenience.  They put me in a new (and inferior room to the one booked, no apology) and said someone would be right up with a key.  20 minutes later some arrived, dropped off the key and did not offer to help with my luggage.

I was also attending a conference in the hotel and the meeting rooms were kept at an absolutely frigid temperature (despite 80+ degrees outside).  We contacted the hotel multiple times to address the issue to no avail.

Everything from the rooms, the service, the views, the pool, the linens, even Lebron James' Porsche parked in the valet, was 5 stars!

The room has a great layout, everything is updated and gives you plenty of space to relax... the large soaking tub is a nice bonus too... if you're lucky to get a room with a water view... enjoy it!  We had our balcony doors open practically 24 hours a day, enjoying the nice breeze and the sounds of Miami.

Everything about this hotel is amazing... right when you pull up to the valet, you see Porches, Ferrari's, Lambo's, Maserati's, and freaking Yacht's only 20 steps away...

What really gives this 5 stars is the hotel staff.  They are fantastic!  We came in late several times after clubbing in South Beach, and room service always hooked us up!  They ran out of most of the foods seeing as how it was 5 AM, but they made up for it by giving us free ice creams, free soda's, etc, at no charge :)

The pool here is one of the best ever, we even swam in the heated infinity pools when it was raining.  As soon as you walk in, you choose where you want from several cabana's, lounge chairs, etc... and the pool person comes over with your towels and fresh water.  They even lay out towels for you to lay on and use as pillows before you settle in... absolutely A+ service.  They play the typical mainstream music to keep you entertained...

The rooftop lounge/bar was awesome as well.  Food was really good, albeit a little bit expensive for the quantity... however that's expected from a hotel.  They have a good happy hour as well which many of the local people came here for... overall it's a fun high energy scene.

    Some extra bonuses:
-Brand new and large 24 hr fitness area
-Good Lotion? (I don't know, that's what the girlies told me...)
    -Free Wi-Fi
-Walking distance to lots of restaurants and night scene

This is really an EPIC hotel.  Will definitely come back here the next time I'm in Miami!

I stay in a lot of hotels all over the hotel spectrum. Stay HERE.

This is an oasis away from the South Beach scene, yet close enough you can get there if you really want/have to.

From the staff to the design to the restaurants, EPIC hits a home-run.

Great rooms, amenities that go beyond your standard shampoo and lotion and rates that will have you asking if your eyes deceive you, it doesn't get much better than this, really. Especially in the middle of such a happening area. A Miami native, I'd choose EPIC most times over a stay in South Beach.

If you're a planner, check out their offers and their ballrooms/outdoor space. WIN!

The restaurants and nightclub give it that extra something.

Epic? I failed to see how this applied to my stay...

Being a fan of Kimpton hotels my sister and I decided to book a room here for the second half of our vacation in Miami. We arrived for check-in at 3pm and upon approaching the front desk we were informed that they were giving us a room up-grade to a water view! BUT the room wasn't ready and they would call us when it was...huh? So after waiting 45 minutes we checked at the front desk- sorry not yet! 15 minutes later someone came to get us. I would have rather had the city view and my hour back.

We were told we would get free internet if we were Kimpton members. Why yes we were. There was even a computer in the room. ...Which wasn't working. So they sent someone to the room to fix it. We could then get on the internet but it took so painfully long to get anywhere it was pointless.

If you have a car you need to valet park. Call down and your car will be brought up. This worked pretty well and I will say it's pretty chaotic down there. We did have the experience where I called down to have the car brought around. When we got downstairs we waited another 15 minutes. I went to the valet window and asked about the car. More waiting then finally one of the Valets said- you guys have been waiting sooo long I'll find out what's happening. I know that they didn't make us wait on purpose but for this level of hotel I shouldn't have to ask for my car 3 times.

Housekeeping was a little inconsistent. Some nights we would get turn down service and a bottle of water, other nights we wouldn't. One day we had to call the front desk to let them know no one made up our room.

Twice we went to the pool. Funny enough both times the person who set up our pool chairs asked if they could bring us water. Both times we said yes. Both times they never came back with water. It's not the end of the world but rather amusing because there was next to no one at the pool.

The Epic also has coffee and tea set up in the morning. Both times we went down to enjoy some- the coffee was barely room temperature. So while the carafes the coffee is kept in are super cool looking- they don't keep the coffee hot. I noticed (on our floor at least) that room service trays and left overs would sit in the hallways for hours and hours.

It's all not bad, there's great robes, amazingly comfortable beds, great products, friendly employees. We did not indulge in but there seems to be a fantastic spa and restaurants. The work out facilities made you want to go make it burn. It's a short walk to Brickell and a plethora of shopping and dining.

My friends and I stayed here while attending the music festival Ultra, so my rating for the location is strictly based on this fact. Keep that in mind when reading this review, though I'd also highly recommend this hotel for visitors not just in Miami for a weekend concert.

Since I didn't venture far from the venue, I can't say whether or not the location is ideal for going elsewhere, for example hitting up South beach, but staying here was a huge bonus in that it was walking distance from the venue and we could make stops at the hotel afterwards if needed.

The hotel itself is sleek in decor and clean. The rooms were cleaned sometimes twice a day. It has a great pool area perfect for sunning (or sitting in the shade if that's your thing) that wasn't crowded at all when I was there in March.

I didn't try any of the restaurants in the hotel, but I did grab drinks at the bar. Great service from the bartenders, which is rare. Especially this woman staffed at the roofdeck bar. Can't remember her name. It started with an O (maybe Ophelia?), but she was fabulous and gave me free drinks after I befriended her. All in all, the service was top notch, especially given the fact that the hotel was flooded with rowdy concert goers who weren't always... let's say subtle and refined. My group was definitely guilty of posting up in the lobby for no good reason for an hour each night, and we never got flak.

Highly recommend if you like boutique hotels that offer good rooms, great service, and a convenient location.

This hotel is outstanding.  It's become the go-to for my wife and me.  During a recent trip to Miami, my wife and I had a terrible experience at another nearby hotel that threatened to completely sour our entire Miami vacation.  We left that hotel and checked in to the Epic, and the stress and frustration of the first night immediately disappeared as soon as we stepped into our room.  We ended up having a great stay in Miami.

The views from the ocean-view rooms at the Epic are breathtaking.  The ocean-view rooms are well worth the extra money.  The pool here is very relaxing, gets sun until about 5 PM, and has drink service.  The location of the Epic is ideal if you are looking to be in Brickell/downtown.

I'm a Kimpton fan because they do a lot of little things to make you feel at home, like their signature complimentary wine party in the lobby, or welcoming your four legged friends with open arms. In Miami, it's a little harder to feel "at home" because- well, just because the touristy, bling, botox, hot-to-trot side of Miami tends to suck up the authentic local warmth and touchy-feely side. But I digress.

The EPIC is a comfortable, well appointed hotel. Basic rooms are roomy, bathrooms have soaking tubs and plush towels and sleek accessories.  Pool area is pretty standard, large pool area with a peck-flexing deck and plush beds to soak up your sunscreen.  Lounge is ok - I'd just skip all the food here and simply run to get a reservation at Zuma downstairs -lovely.

Low points- the usual valet parking waiting too long thing; the room not ready at check-in time b.s., yada yada. But I digress.  It recommend EPIC - good value, good location downtown with the Kimpton twist.

This is a 4 star hotel, but the only reason why I gave it 3 stars is because of the valet situation. It just sucks. You can wait 20 minutes to get your car. It's ridiculous. Generally when you're staying in a hotel, when you want to leave, you really want to leave. So having to wait for your car so long is ridiculous. And deal with Miami traffic? Come on.

Other than that, the rooms are exquisite, the views spectacular, the staff are friendly and incredibly helpful, the decor is modern and their restaurants serve pretty good food.

But if you have a car or even plan on using a taxi, go to the JW Marriott across the street because their ramp is way more efficient.

This is the worst hotel in Miami. The rooms don't have great views and despite their modern appearance are falling apart. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. However, the biggest issue was that the valet damaged my car and REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS. To me, this is completely inexcusable for a large organization and therefore, I will never stay at this hotel again.

Very grand hotel entrance, from the wrap driveway to the oversized foyer. Kind lobby staff to guide your check in process.  Huge rooms with great views of the waterways.

    Decent hotel restaurant.

~20 minute/$30 taxi ride from the airport.

Didn't have much time to walk around this trip, but the location is in a pretty safe part of Miami, and the basics (Starbuck's, Walgreens, cute Italian restaurant, running path, bank) are all within easy walking distance.

I frequent AREA 31 at the EPIC Hotel often. On my first visit I met Bartender Ahmed who left a lasting impression. Very friendly and outgoing! Great customer service. I wasn't sure what I wanted to drink so he asked a few questions to see what I liked and came up with his own concoction. It is now my go to drink when I'm there! Whenever I have friends in town I make sure to bring them by Area 31. Over all great experience EVERY time I'm there. One thing I dislike is they took the "fish fry" off the menu after renovations/re-opening =( That was my favorite thing to eat.

Overall great experience EVERY time I visit. The valet is on point and very professional, the door is always opened for me as I walk in. Nothing, but smiles everywhere! I love it there.

What happened to my little fish?  After three days I loved him and wanted to take him home but I could think how!  My room was a strange triangular shape but slept three people comfortably.  the bed was good, sheets were clean.  So happy with the room.  Breakfast was a nice buffet - again good.  Location was nice, by the river, a short walk to Brickell.  Not mind blowing but good.

Arrived on a Friday night, planned on a fun weekend with friends. My first impression was the valet parking situation is bad. Cars wrapped around the corner and once you pull up the chaos with the valet was another thing.
The hotel is very trendy and very nice. The room and the view were awesome. Since we arrived the vibe is party hotel, we quickly put on the radio and enjoyed our room. No complaints, except the beds were not as comfy as they look and rain showerhead is uncomfortable (if you don't want to wet your hair). But the large spa tub is a bonus!
The housekeeping was awesome, boy did we bother her for towels and she was a peach and very accommodating!

Saturday afternoon we hung out by the pool, a little upset about the second pool being closed. For as expensive as the stay, the pool area was just ok. As for the pool staff, Andres was very cool.
For Dinner we went to Zuma, and had a wonderful time (see Zuma page for my review).

Overall this is a lovely hotel, trendy, clean and modern. The staff is awesome and I truly believe this is what makes it great.

If you're a fan of Conrad/Intercontinental Hotels, the EPIC should be right up your alley. It doesn't really fit well into the Kimpton brand, which I tend to see as a much less "luxury" and much more of a friendly and service oriented chain. The reasons why I love Kimpton so much are: 1) their loyalty program is phenomenal; 2) their people are incredible; 3) they've almost always got a great food/drink options at the hotel itself.

I wouldn't necessarily say that I like Conrad more or less than Kimpton--they're simply different, and I stay at each depending on my mood and what I'm looking for. On this trip, I was visiting a number of family/friends in Miami, and it would've been highly inconvenient to stay at the Surfcomber on the beach (which, out of 65 hotels--mostly 4 or 5 stars--in the last 18 months, is currently my favorite hotel in America). I had heard a bunch of lukewarm to negative reviews from others, so I knew I was unlikely to enjoy EPIC as much as the Surfcomber.

The EPIC succeeds in that the rooms and facilities are (or at least, at time of opening) top notch. As a Kimpton Inner Circle member, I was upgraded to a corner suite, which had two balconies and ample space. One of the TVs was finicky, but that wasn't a major problem. The bathroom had his/her sinks, but one was a bit clogged.

The pool scene is really solid. There was great service from the staff on hand, although they really could've used an extra server on hand.

Where this hotel falls monumentally short is in the service department. Compared to mid-to-upper range business hotels, it's fine. Compared to other Kimptons, on one end, and other 4.5+ star properties on the other, it is neither friendly and welcoming (like Kimptons) or luxurious and anticipatory (like Conrad/IC). It is merely OK.

The restaurant Area 31 is fine for breakfast. For drinks, service was excruciatingly slow.

What really infuriated me about this hotel was that I didn't receive housekeeping at all on my second day. This was ridiculous, but--to be fair--I was in the room until 1pm. I put on the service light as soon as I left the room. When I returned around 9:30pm, the room was still uncleaned, the service light was still on, and I did not receive turndown service, like I did on the first day. I called down to the front desk to explain the situation, and I was promised that someone would come up to deliver fresh towels. That would have been fine, given how late it was in the day. Over an hour later, I went down to the front desk in person to try to resolve the problem. The first staffer said that it was my fault that I left the do not disturb on all day (WHICH I DID NOT!!!), then meekly apologized before radio-ing for housekeeping. The manager was a bit more understanding, and helped to try to rectify the situation. When I returned to the room, the housekeeper was refilling the towels, and said that she was worried that she would miss her bus if she cleaned the full room. So, we let her leave after doing a quick towel drop. The bed was never made.

This is the kind of sloppy service that you almost never see at truly excellent hotels. This is not a truly excellent hotel, but it was still shocking to me to see a hotel with the Kimpton name have such poor service.

We went to Surfcomber immediately after leaving EPIC and had a five-star stay there. I would highly recommend staying there instead, even if it involves completely revamping your schedule to do so. I will not be back to EPIC, and I cannot recommend it. If you want the 4.5 star experience in downtown Miami, you will probably have better luck at the Intercontinental or Marriott Marquis.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at the EPIC. Sure the valet is annoying, but the hotel makes up for it in every way. I arrived before the standard checkin at 4pm and when my room was unavailable, the clerk upgraded my room to their biggest suite. The only word that describes the room is, "Wow!" The floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom made for a stunning view of the Brickell skyline. The room itself was immaculate and the hallways had a sweet mapley smell. Room service was delicious, too.

I would certainly recommend the EPIC Hotel to anyone who is coming to visit Miami. I didn't get a chance to have any spa services done, but the spa and fitness center were very clean and well equipped.

This by far is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. Let's first start with the fact you must wait in your car/cab for 10-15 minutes before the valet lets you pull in. Second the amount of money you pay to stay here for the service is awful. Third DO NOT go to the spa here the showers are not clean, the staff doesn't know the difference between a steam and sauna room, the hair brushes look like they have never been cleaned. Fourth reason room service is disgusting if you plan on having a nice meal for 150.00 then you are out of luck here the food was 30 minutes late, it didn't come as said on the menu, and customer service for room service I am convinced doesn't exist.
Coming from The Four Seasons right down the street which by the way is wonderful!
This place is awful DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME.
One kind of okay thing the view from the pool is nice(don't expect good service out there either) but tis' a nice view.

I live down the street from Ink48 in Manhattan, and am increasingly loving the newer Kimpton hotel offerings.  Epic was under construction and had just completed when I last lived in MIami.  Now, with great corporate rates, and even greater views and interiors, I found the Epic hotel to just match what I was looking for.  Brickell is really an awesome area for those looking to escape the Airport area or the Beach.

They hooked me up with so many freebies (alcohol vouchers, drinks, brunch tickets, free internet).  I was very impressed!  And the views, the restaurants, and bars, all were top notch.

Definitely will be staying here from now on while in Miami.

Our driver pulled up to the Epic and BEFORE the door opened a bellman was at the back pulling our bags out.  We walk to front desk and NOTHING but pure smiles were given and great customer service AS WELL as a nice cool glass of champagne to cool you off after the Miami humid rain storm out we stepped out of.  There was infused COLD water as well.

Bellman waited until all of our check-in was complete an took us to our room.  When you walked in EVERYTHING was bright airy and SO FRESH!  LOVED EVERYTHING! the beautiful balcony with the SUPER awesome view of city and waterway.

The bathroom with the rain shower head as well was immaculate.  The tub sits nestled in the corner where there is a window so from the bedroom you can see into the tub.  A romantic touch.  There is a shade you can pull down if need.

I was happy with the iHome system so I could hear music.  The TV and phone were up to date as well.  Bed was SUPER comfy!

The concierge was SO VERY helpful!  They even set up our cool tour of the everglades.

I was SAD to leave.  I only spent ONE night there but am SO READY to go back.  REALLY a great value for the money.

I can't comment on WiFi being that I vowed to use as little electronic communication on vacation.  And I had car service so I do not know about how well valet is.  But EVERYTHING I experienced was EPIC!

The name is EPIC! and EPIC it was!  Thank you Epic!  I am NOW a Kimpton fan!

The hotel and the room service/ turn down service are nice. One odd thing is they do not provide wash cloths. You get hand towels and bath towels but that's it.  The staff is friendly. I went to the spa and would recommend if you go that you ask for someone that is seasoned and that is their main job or that they can at least provide quality service.  The girl that did my massage talked about the 10 other jobs she had and frankly it showed in the quality of her massage. She did not put much effort into the service. I paid approx 160.00 for a massage that felt like it was a person without experience and knowledge of proper technique. I could probably get a better massage from a random person without any training. It really was frustrating to waste that kind of money for a service in a facility of this caliber.  The situation turned out to be stressful and unenjoyable. I was stressed about getting ripped off with the crappy service which defeats the purpose of trying to take an hour out of the day to go relax and pamper yourself. Then, they booked me for the last appt of the day which meant as the service was finished they were running around trying to get you out of the facility. People running down the stairs with dirty laundry, a lady in the restroom trying to hurry and it get cleaned, and then the front desk was closed down and the girl and what appeared to be her boyfriend were there anxiously waiting for me to exit so they could leave too. It's not like I took my time getting changed, I threw on my clothes and left as to not keep anyone waiting. Ultimately it was not an enjoyable experience and  I could have received better results using my foam roller.
I would recommend they screen their employees to ensure the service they provide is worth the amount of money they request. Also, if everyone wants out by 9 pm schedule so the last appointment is done at 8:30 not 9 because it really takes away from any relaxation to be rushed out the door.  It comes off as though you're not appreciated as a client. Nobody should feel rushed out of a spa service, especially someone that just wasted a lot of money for very poor quality of service.

Very pricey and not the greatest service. When we arrived in a cab no one was there to meet us. So we dragged our bags in and the room was not ready. Understandable since we were there at noon. They promised to call us when a room was available and never did. I had to ask again for a room for one to be provided. Great views from our balcony but a little over the top for me with the upscale cars in front and yachts at the side of the hotel.

Let's start with this: we all know that when hotels valet cars, they park the most expensive ones out in front of the establishment in order to project a certain image as to the "echelon" of patrons to which they cater. Fine--it's a gimmick and everyone understands that (an idiotic and disgustingly elitist gimmick, but an arguably harmless one).

What I don't understand is why I waited 40 minutes for the valet to retrieve my girlfriend's 2012 Toyota Camry from the garage directly under the hotel--finally receiving the car at 12:05am on a Sunday night--hardly prime time. It's not the Ferrari that was parked out front, sure--but I'm a customer, and it's a car. Unfortunately, when I'm waiting to receive the car I valeted after spending almost $300, as a student, at your establishment trying to make my girlfriend's birthday special, then watched as patrons who just exited the establishment received theirs--I counted 4 Audis, 2 BMWs, 1 Rolls Royce, a Mercedes Benz, among a parade of rented vehicles--it makes me wonder at the the sort of socioeconomically discriminatory policies you might have in place when dealing with your customers' vehicles. What I'd like, is an explanation as to why I waited so long for a valeted car at off-peak hours watching "nicer" cars drive by as I waited with my girlfriend on her birthday--the end of which was characterized by the realization, "is it the make of my car...?" I'd also like an apology for the brusqueness of the head valet who dismissively and ineffectively handled my ire at the situation. You've effectively ruined my girlfriend's birthday by insulting her socioeconomic status. Good job.

The customer service is like no where else! Every one is soo helpful and polite, as well as professional. From the moment I got to valvet, checking in, room service, waiters and the pool staff are all outstanding. The room was gorgeous and the staff will bend over backwards to please the guest. Carlos the bell man has an amazing down to earth attitude that makes you feel extremely welcomed. Alexandra from the pool staff has the best attitude to make you feel important and comfortable at the pool. I recommend the EPIC HOTEL. In fact so much so that I will be back Fourth of July weekend. Loved our stay at the Epic.

From the moment the lovely and gracious Carmen checked us in (and snuck us an extra drink ticket) to the second we left, when the concierge came racing out to our cab with a forgotten iPhone, we knew we were in excellent hands.

I can't over-emphaszie how lovely the service is. The handsome doormen are in full Miami costume--  slick beige suits and Panama hats -- and when we came huffing in one hot morning after a run (following a map provided by the hotel), the doorman handed us cold bottles of water and friendly high fives!

You know it's good when you walk into your room and say.... "Oh, this is very nice!" Our luxuriously comfortable room had beautiful water and city views, which we enjoyed while reading the paper... on the balcony.

My wife loved the super roomy tub and we both enjoyed the bath products. Great bed and linens. The pool is terrific, and the staff is great at finding you the best spots for he amount of sun you want. The gym has great machines, treadmills and weights but if you like taking classes, they're $25 each, even as a hotel guest. (I would have happily paid $15.)

The complimentary coffee and wine happy hour were both much appreciated. And we loved how the location put us in a perfect place to investigate downtown Miami.

We were there for a few days for Miami Book Fair. Super easy walk from the hotel. We never ate at the hotel restaurant and instead highly recommend grabbing a meal at NIU Kitchen (super buzzy amazing Spanish food) or at the Bali Cafe (cool, delicious fun cheap eats). Also, google whatever's going on at the gorgeous old Olympia Theater, just a few blocks away. We just wandered by and ended up getting a ticket to a movie there, and it was an incredible experience.

We LOVED the Epic and plan to return, Let me be clear-- this isn't the world's most ever amazing hotel --it's just an extremely lovely one with exceptionally good service--  but for the price we paid, we had a five star experience.

Excellent customer service! I live in Miami but, hubby and I like to try to get away as much as possible. If we can't we stay at hotels and act like tourist in our own city. All in all, great spot! Amazing views and the perfect restaurants all located in the same

I don't always stay at nice hotels, but when I do, I make sure they're as FA-BU-LOUS as Epic.

For my first review of the New Year it HAD to be one that reminded me of the fun times in the sun. It's the middle of winter and during these cold months I yearn for the days where I lay out under the scorching sun. If you're wondering, no.....I don't complain about the heat. I was born for the heat and Miami sure has it.

I don't even know how we came across the awesome deal, well how my friend came across it, but damn she did good. Epic was very affordable but don't confuse that with cheap, that's one thing that Epic is not. They live up to their given name. Clean, stylish, glamorous....and well to sum it up, Fabulous.

The view from our room was amazing. RIght out to the Miami River and in the background we could see the port. Even though it rained the last day we were there, watching the storms roll in was amazing. The fridge was stocked with anything and everything you can imagine. We were also pretty close to ice which was a plus because we needed it to pre game. The bathrooms were posh and the cleaning crew ALWAYS hooked us up with fresh towels. The room itself...well wow, please look at the pictures.

Right in the heart of downtown Miami and with easy access to transportation, this spot was ideal. Location! Location! Location! is right. We were able to walk right next to the river and some locals told us that dolphins make their way up the river sometimes. Imagine that. No manatees were spotted though. They have two restaurants (Area 31 and Zuma) and a club (Kyma Lounge) in the hotel to accommodate their guest. So really, you would never have to leave, but come on, it's Miami.

Other sweet pros of this hotel:
    1. Water of the day. Delicious, fresh and fruit infused water to accompany us everywhere we went.
    2. The gorgeous pool where we spent most of our days.
    3. Free wifi with your stay, cause it doesn't matter if you're on vacation, you need that wifi.
    4. Pool side drinks! Yup, servers all over the place asking how they could help you cool down.
    5. The concierge. They helped us explore Miami to the max.

I have nothing negative to say about Epic.  Aaaaah.....can't wait to stay there again. It's a given that I will.

I believe this hotel has all the elements necessary to be "epic" but it's just not there yet. As much as I wanted to enjoy my stay, I felt like from the minute we drove up there was problems. The valet guys were atrocious. Not I do not drive a porsche (yet), but service is service and my green bills are as good as the next guy. Took about 10 minutes to be helped or directed because a ferrari pulled up behind us and the valet guys were like leaches. So finally inside, we were helped by a friendly guy at the desk. He gave us our key cards and a bellboy helped take our stuff. We get to our room, get all of our stuff in, and I was impressed with the room, it was spacious, open plan and large sliding glass doors let in a lot of light. The bell boy had left, and then I noticed a card and cheese platter. I lifted off the plastic wrap and it reeked. I opened the envelope and see that it was dated the previous day, and wrote to a Mr. and Mrs. [insert any name but mine here], it said happy birthday and enjoy your stay. Well, it happened to be my birthday, so I thought, maybe they have my name wrong? Then I second the whole Mr. Mrs. thing? And our check in date was never the previous day. The smell of sweating cheese started to tick me off. So I decided to use the room phone to call down to the desk to see if we got the wrong room. I was forwarded by one person to a different person, it hang for so long I put in on speaker and started getting my luggage together - no-one picked up. Now I went from accepting that I could be in the wrong room, and being pissed off. I decided that I should sort this out immediately so went down to the front desk, we saw the same guy that checked us in, I handed him the card and told him, this was not addressed to me, and the stale cheese was the icing on the cake. With minimal apology, he simply handed us new keys and said that he had given us a new room, with a better view. I told him I needed the old key because all our stuff was still in the room with the cheese and we needed to collect it. He did offer a bellboy to help but we declined. After our drive we were looking to just get settled into our room and relax.

So finally in the room, and he was right, much better room, plus we were higher so we had access to a better pool. We relaxed, I really enjoyed the soaking tub, we ordered room service which was fast. Got ourselves ready and went out for the night. We didn't get back that last because we figured we'd get a few drinks at the hotel before calling it a night. We went to the outdoor bar on the pool deck. We stopped several servers and asked if there was a bartender or someone we could order drinks from, no-one could help us, after 20 minutes hanging around, we decided just to leave.

I was looking forward to sleeping in that bed, the pillows, bedding and mattress were sooooo comfortable. Unfortunately beauty sleep was never attained because all night long there was a high pitched yapping dog that just wouldn't give it a break. I maybe got 3 hours due to exhaustion, but even into breakfast time we could hear it. Because of this we didn't order breakfast from room service, because I was so ready to get outta there.

We went down to check out, thank god they serve tea and coffee at the table in the lobby, I needed something after a night of no sleep. Check out was easy, we didn't have to wait too long for valet, maybe 10-15 min; we had called from the room before we came down so timing worked out well.

Overall it wasn't a great experience, and I think that's just fate. I'd like to go back, planning maybe a girls weekend, so we get massages and use more of the facilities. I'd be willing to give Epic another shot to prove to me that it really is Epic.

Would be a great hotel if the the staff were more trustworthy. Two people in my group had iphone's stolen over a 24 hour period and cooperation by management has been limited at best. That is completely unacceptable.

I am huge fan of Kimpton Hotels and have been staying at them since the 90s. This is the only one I've stayed in that didn't live up to my expectations. The front desk staff and rooms are great. The room service options, and 2 on-site restaurants are seriously lacking in terms of selection, quality and the service is some of the worst I've ever experienced at a Kimpton. I was hosting s meeting at the hotel, and even the banquet food which is usually sublime for a Kimpton was lack-luster and staff was not solution oriented. Unless you have business in the immediate area and only going to be in town for a night or so, I would not recommend it.

One of the better hotels I've stayed in.  I really like the free coffee service in the lobby.  I only wish they had it all day long, instead of mornings only.  The pool area looked beautiful but it was too cold and rainy during our stay.  The room was gorgeous with a giant bathtub and huge shower.  The sushi restaurant on the main floor was delicious.  I'd gladly stay here again.

This place is VERY noisy . Rooms across from the elevators have the pleasure of listening to pounding music from the elevator each time the door opens. Breakfast is pitiful. I have gone 5 times. You have only two choices, a cold buffet and a "hot" one. Each time I went they were out of cereal bowls, food and or spoons. Very weak selection too. And the rooms above the pool are also screwed because the pool is used as a party scene by non guests.  Also the common areas of the hotel are not kept clean. The picture was taken at 8 am from the exercise room. The cans, dead flowers and dirty towels were still there at 11.

I love this place! We were greeted by handsome men who welcomed us immediately. Check in was quick and efficient also. Our room was spacious, extra clean, and had a great view. The room was pretty soundproof too. The bed was comfortable but ingot very hot in the middle of the night. The AC seemed to operate on low, and I think the top bedding layer was a down comforter. I didn't sleep so well due to this and the over supportive pillow.
We chose to eat breakfast at Area 31 which was quite good.

We stay at a lot of hotels and we always talk about when we go to Vegas all of the hotels are clean and they have everything you need. Now comparing hotels to Vegas hotels may not necessarily be the proper thing to do but it is a standard that Vegas has set for people like us to expect when we go to expensive hotels in other major cities. With that said I would like to say that this hotel was pretty close to that standard. everything was extremely clean the people there were overly nice and they were willing to go out of their way for you.  From valet to the bellman and the concierge. They were all very helpful and very prompt even when they got busy. The view from the hotel room was excellent from the 27 th floor. Floor 16 had an excellent spa and a wonderful restaurant that serves brunch late which is great for people like us because we tend to wake up at 11 o'clock.

The bathrooms were extremely clean. You did not feel like you had to take a shower after a shower if know what I mean. All of the employees at the hotel were dressed very nicely and professionally.

Now I did not give a 5 star because there were a few things that I notice could be changed. And one of them and that is the girls they hire to be hostess in the restaurants. First is that they are looking for pretty girls which I can definitely appreciate that however they cannot have that typical Miami girl "snooty" look on their faces when you're talking to them. It only makes people like us believe the stereo type of that type of girl. no one needs that at their place of business regardless of how good they look. I say stop looking for a 10 and get yourself a couple of 7,s that work in the restaurants as a hostess with more intelligents Because apparently in Miami you can't have it both ways.

I would also like to add that there should be a convenience shop inside a hotel of that size. It only needs to carry a few simple things like water, toothpaste, soap, razors, condoms, snacks and what not.. I will add there is a CVS a block away.

    overall this place is excellent.

The KIMPTON chain is fantastic. Palomar in Chicago, Monaco in DC and Epic in Maimi are all first class up-scale, hip boutique stays.  I've stayed at Epic last year July 2013 and this year June 2014 and we love it.

The service is great.  The spa (Escape) is wonderful the pool is attractive with a great bar.  The ZUMA Restaurant, though pricey, is excellent.

You must sign-up as an In Touch member and visit their other properties.

One word to describe the Epic hotel.. chic. When I book a hotel, I am always looking for that little extra something that makes it special. In this case, there were a couple of noteworthy details that sold me on the Epic.

Our room had a balcony with an incredible view of the water, as well as the city. At night, it was gorgeous. I loved having access to the balcony. (There's nothing worse than a hotel with windows that don't open)!

The bathroom in the room was exceptional. The shower was big, and had a rainfall shower head. Perfect after a long flight from Cali. The tub was deep and big enough for two.

All in all the room was clean and modern. We could have easily stayed in all night and been happy. But with only one night in Miami, we had to at least explore the rest of the hotel! :)

The rooftop bar on the 16th floor was pretty amazing as well. Strong drinks, and again, that gorgeous view. My boyfriend scored a couple of free drink coupons, and we ended up spending the rest of our night there. (I didn't think any other bar in town could beat the view)! I loved that they let us go into the pool area even though it was late and the pool was closed. We had fun exploring the cabanas and sipping our drinks while looking out at the water.

The only downside to the Epic is the parking situation. It is mandatory valet parking, which was unexpected, and costs $37. The valet situation in front of the hotel is a little hectic and crazy. Not ideal after a long flight. We felt rushed and stressed by the time we got to our room. If it wasn't for the parking, I would have given five stars. Epic is definitely the right name for this hotel!

we really enjoyed our stay here. We were on the 27th floor with a balcony and a beautiful view. I felt well accommodated and would highly recommend to others. On the 16th floor you will find an excellent spa, a pretty good restaurant and a beautiful pool. And if you forget something, like a toothbrush or a razor, they don't try to charge you for everything. There is a good bit that is available at concierge that they will gladly give to you free of charge. Looking forward to my next visit!

Check in time is 4pm. It's 4:05 and still the room isn't ready. How long does it take to clean a room if checkout time is 12??? Do they have only one person on their cleaning staff?
The amount of money you pay, they should let you check in 2 hours early.
We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental before coming here. The service and level of professionalism at the Mandarin is so much higher. This hotel needs to learn from them.
Update: it's 4:45pm and room still not ready. We're stuck waiting in the lobby with about 50 other people who are unable to access their rooms an hour after official check-in time. Epic: thanks for taking $600 of hour money and treating us like animals. Thanks for ruining our one remaining day in Miami. You are an epic disaster.

My stay at the Epic hotel was great. here are some pros and cons about this hotel. One pro is that all the hotel rooms have great views of Miami and also has balconies in all of ther hotel rooms. Another pro is that not only do they have room cleaning they come back in the evening when you're out they have nightly turn down service. One last pro is that they have an over the head rain shower. These are some pros of the Epic hotel. The con is that any time you can here people walking down the hall witch you can tell that the walls aren't sound prof.Other than that my family and I had a great stay in Miami.

    I will make this simple:
Pros: nice size rooms, large balcony, no problems getting our car from valet, free wine ( not great but free). Good for younger people, nice workout area with great equipment and free weights.
Cons: for me being married not the place, spent most of our time in Miami Beach( my problem) so cabs are 20 each way, it's staff is mediocre, pool in the afternoon is horrible; it's in the shade and extremely breezy because of the bay, our room was not cleaned until after 5, beds are not that great sheets are a little rough ( I am a bed snob...again my problem) on a scale of 1-10 I give them a 6, unless you pay 20 bucks you don't have access to the spa (workout area is free). Last point they are extremely under staffed.
I've stayed a lot of places in Miami this is not one I would return to.

It pains me--it really does--to write a bad review of a Kimpton property. We used a Kimpton for our entire wedding party and family our wedding weekend and were very happy with it, I'm an In Touch member, we were "early adopters" of the Palomar in Chicago...but alas. We stayed  here for one night on a layover coming back from the Caribbean (wanted a chance to see the city instead of just bumming around an airport hotel), and...ugh. I would have taken the airport hotel, in hindsight.

All seemed good at first. The gentleman at check in was very friendly and, when we mentioned we were heading to a nearby restaurant for dinner, suggested we inform the concierge as they had a good relationship with them and could likely get us some food or drinks comped. Awesome! Once we settled into our room, I phoned the concierge as suggested and got a reaction as if I had three heads, but he said he would call the restaurant. Okay, fine. Except by "call the restaurant" he apparently meant "get our reservation cancelled and cause us a significant amount of confusion"--and he apparently didn't even mention where he was calling from, as no one from the restaurant acknowledged their call.

The room was...okay. Beds were surprisingly uncomfortable for a Kimpton, and bathroom setup was strange (there is basically a "pass through" window between the bathroom and bedroom, so if you forget to put the blinds down, your roommate gets a lovely view of..well....).

The last straw was on checkout--we had prepaid for our room, but this was somehow missed at checkin and they had to temporarily double charge us. However, the woman at the desk promised she would take care of it within hours and took our information, but we never heard back--we had to eventually call back and get transferred from department to department about 5 times before getting the charge removed.

Frustrating, and not the level of service I expect from a Kimpton.

free welcome drink, free breakfast. late check out time, another free drink while I was waiting for my table for Zuma by the pool, definitely 5 stars service

I love a Kimpton and this was proabably the nicest one Ive stayed in! And well, it lives up to Miami standards. My king room was a nice size and had a his and hers bathroom. LOVE! It also had a bathtub and a shower, a nice touch. My balcony over looked Area 31 and the pool. The pool is stunning by the way. Can't complain about that!

Minus one star for room service taking 45 plus minutes. It doesn't take that long to cook eggs.

Would I come back? Definitely, but I would skip room service.

I would've given 5 stars, but I'll explain. This hotel is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! When we arrived it was FREE WINE HOUR!!! Score there! The guest service rep Carlos was nice & friendly. I advised him I booked thru FunJet & prepaid IN FULL in March. He said ok they'd only run my card for incidentals. I later checked my card was ran for $924. I INSTANTLY became IRRITATED. He apologized & said Funjets credit card was declined. BULLSHIT LIE!!!!! He also said I had to call Funjet to clear up the error. MAJOR PISS OFF. I called Funjet & they confirmed my payment in full in March. They called & said they got the run around too and after 30mins Epic agreed they screwed up they also charged Funjet 3xs. They also told me they would release the $924 hold & I called my bank they said its a lie!!!! Then Carlos also ran the card for ANOTHER $300. This was just getting better & better. He comped me $100 (whoopy doo). The parking is also a joke! $39 a day. (Hidden fee) it does take the valet service 10-30 mins for your car. The rooms were beautiful. The room service was great. The hotels amenities are great also. I'd definitely come back, but they need to get it together.

For the price you would think it would be immaculate. I quickly realized that was false. Food prices were extremely ridiculous.  Eggs and bacon $15 dollars are you serious???? And they charge for EVERYTHING!!!!! Even to print..lol I found myself asking "is it free" everytime they offered me something. I swear we were at the cvs on 3rd st everyday for drinks and snacks..lol  Robes were worn and old looking, In room phones didnt work (the handsets), balcony was dirty, dusty, room always humid, sheets looked worn. We had a water view overlooking the pool area "OMG" with the damn music!!!! Yes its nice to have tunes while relaxing but all damn night? Pool area gross. Saw cigarette butts everywhere yuck!!!!!!!  Took pool service 30 minutes to bring me a ginger ale bf had to get up twice tp see where it was. Granted I couldnt gotten it myself but she offered. Anywho that too seem unkempt.  For an upscale hotel I expected better. That hotel was not cheap but their service was.  Cleaning staff was extremely nice though

******PLEASE ASK FOR A PRINT OUT BEFORE YOU LEAVE******  We were charged for services we didnt ask for or use.

Thanks for helping make my birthday a memorable one.

Only problem was a mixup at checkout. My card got charged twice. They quickly reimbursed my money.

Kimpton, Kimpton, where for art thou Kimpton? This one was in Miami, FL and unsurprisingly lived up to every expectation I have come to look forward to when staying at a Kimpton hotel.

Staff very friendly and very helpful, easy to see that morale is good here.

Outlets aplenty, by the bedside stand.

Free WiFi if you join their loyalty program which is absolutely free. Not only that, but if you join you get a $10-$15 (depending on Kimpton location) voucher to raid the mini bar or use at their restaurants.

Rooms, as always, clean and well-appointed, designed in a nice un-antiseptic industrial way as many hotels are.

Wish I could stay at Kimptons every time I travel. EPIC did not disappoint.

Epic is sexy, sleek and sophisticated. It's not where you would want to live per se but it is where you would want to stay and fulfill your rock star dreams of being rich and famous.

The hotel had been well thought out with the perfect view of the sunset or the view of the bed, balcony or tv from the bathtub (bring bubble bath). From the balcony, there  is even a dog park to watch when nothing else in the city seems to be moving. The restaurant area doesn't have any policies but seem to go without saying: 'Put away your gym shoes and put on your sexiest shoes/heels.'

The valet is over 30 bills but considering the area, it is kind of expected. One thing I did not like is the lack of ability to buy commonly necessary items---water? snacks? toiletries? Another disappointment was how strict they were with the check in time. Once, my flight arrived about 2 hours before check in so I had to sit in the lobby until they were ready for me. It's also good to mention that my GPS was not accurate and that the turn into the parking lot was risky. Despite the minor issues, they are easy to forgive since this is the most fanastic stay I've had thus far besides my honeymoon or at a resort.

The Kimpton staff is mostly first rate with a few minor exceptions, basically those OUTSIDE the hotel (valet parkers)
Rooms are large, well appointed and quiet. Housekeeping services are first rate
We only ate at the hotel at the wedding reception held at LILT. The food was more than above average. Delicious really.

It's amazing how much downtown Miami has changed in the last 10 years.  You wouldn't even imagine going out for an evening let alone getting a hotel back then.  My wife and I normally stay on South Beach when we're here but thought it wouldn't be hot enough (it was) for the beach.  My local friend suggested the Brickell area since it's now considered a hotspot.  I was torn between this and Viceroy down the street and Epic ended up winning my reservation because their nightly valet parking was $10 less a day.

We took a red-eye flight from Vegas, rolled up Friday morning around 8am and were immediately checked in with no problems.  So many hotels try to charge you for early check in and it was refreshing how smooth it all went giving us a couple of hours of rest before going out for the day.

The room was as nice as I expected but the large terrace and great view of Biscayne Bay took me by surprise.  The bed was very comfortable and the rain shower was money.  My only gripe with the room was that there was no HD signal on the TV.

    Other pros included:

    - Complimentary coffee and tea from 8am-10am in the lobby
    - The complimentary daily wine tastings in the lobby from 5pm-6pm like every Kimpton Hotel does.
    - Free in-room wifi just for signing up for their mailing list
    - You can call valet from your room.  It usually takes them about 10 minutes to have your car out since they're busy parking all the Lamborghinis and other fancy mobiles.
    - All the staff we interacted with were fantastic.

This is also the first hotel I've stayed in that not only offers a wake up call but the pleasant person who calls you then asks if you want them to call back in 10 minutes.  LIVE PERSON SNOOZE?!?  I asked her if she could call back in 20 minutes on our 3rd day.  The little things!

I admit that I didn't love the downtown area as much as I had hoped but you couldn't go wrong with staying here.  I love the Kimpton brand and wouldn't hesitate staying at any of their properties.

Beautiful facility, nicely decorated and centrally located however, they will not go above and beyond their minimum requirements to please you. Upon making my reservation I asked to check in at 2pm instead of 4pm as I had a function at 5pm and needed time to get ready. I arrived at the hotel at 3:15pm and they made me wait a full 45 minutes to get into my room. This failure to accommodate such a simple request that was made way in advance is an "EPIC" lack of customer service. In all, simply not worth it! Never had this happened to me at the Intercontinental.

Awesome hotel in downtown Miami! From the array of luxury cars and yachts parked out front to the awesome balconies and views in the rooms, this is an absolutely amazing hotel! The front desk staff are amazing. We stayed here 1 night pre cruise. My husband was honestly ok with staying here all week rather than boarding the ship! We upgraded 1 week before to a bay view room. We could see our ship when we woke up from our balcony! There is also a beautiful infinity pool surrounding by cabanas. This hotel made me a fan of the Kimpton brand. They completely got it right with this hotel!

Tip: Don't forget to take advantage of the complimentary wine hour!!

This is a party hotel.  4pm - 6pm champagne, wine in the lobby.  The 16th floor has a nice scene.  We were there for Valentine's weekend, which coincided with the yacht show, and art show.

If you do the club lounge, then drinks begin at 6pm - 11pm.  The food is just ok.  The ambiance is stark and probably better if the weather is warm then you can sit outside.

The rooms, our room on the 29th floor, with own balcony facing the water was average size, the bathroom opens into the room, so if you are sharing your room with a friend, you will get intimate.

The service for room service is slow, housekeeping service is lax, service in the club lounge is non-existent.  Bathroom amenities are standard.

Receptionists for check in and check out is uneven.

This is a pretty hotel, it's great to come party, hit one of the rooms to sleep it off.

Would I come back?  Yes, to party.

This place is so good!  The staff are actually nice, which is a rarity in Miami.  And they try to solve any problems you have with your room.  And they are very, very dog friendly.

    These guys are great.

Epic is ultra modern and clearly billing itself as upscale. However this is where the luxury stops. Our room, while completely gorgeous, was far from clean. My children walked on the floor barefoot and quickly had dirty feet. Upon closing the curtains, I found a dried-up piece of pineapple laying on the floor. The pillows had an odor to them, and the couch had stains on it. The most frustrating issue however was the fact that the room contains no information booklet detailing the hotel amenities, layout, or room service options. To top that off, there is no coffee maker or coffee in the rooms. The only way to get coffee, is to go downstairs and get it. Maybe it could be ordered through room service, but there was no way for me to know as there was no information booklet.

Sadly this property is not stacking up to the other amazing Kimpton properties I have experienced...   From the amenities that inner circle members appreciate, to the way the Kimpton staff members usually bend over backwards to make your stay the most memorable..  Sadly, this is not one of them.

Just back from a great mini vacation in which I split time between Brickell and SoBe. Extremely pleased with my stay at The Epic.

Great location within easy walking distance to all Brickell and downtown has to offer--Mary Brickell Village is about a 10 minute walk away, a block away from the hotel are 2 great restaurants--Wolfgang's Steakhouse and Il Gabbiano. Lovely Brickell Key is also a short 10-12 minute walk from the hotel. The Viceroy, with its popular 50 nightclub and Cantina La Veinte Mexican resto/lounge, is a short walk away across the bridge.

That's if you ever need to leave the hotel. You have a couple of great on premise restaurants (Zuma and Area 31--which duals as quite the popular bar/socializing spot at night), a very nice pool, a good hotel gym, jazz club, and spa....what more could you ask or?...the service was top notch and extremely accommodating....I will be forever grateful and go out of my way to stay here again as (1) I flew a redeye and they let me check into my room early that morning as soon as I arrived at no extra charge (your mileage may vary and, clearly, less than full occupancy when I stayed worked in my favor); (2) they (Aubrey) upgraded me to a bay view room at no extra charge (amazing view); and (3) one of the people at the front desk handed me a coupon that gained me complimentary admittance to Fifty nightclub at the nearby Viceroy Hotel. Talk about going out of your way to please me.....only thing they didn't do was set me up with one of the models from the daily poolside photo shoots.

Rooms were large and immaculate....bottom line, if you want a self contained oasis in the heart of the city it is awfully hard to beat The Epic.

Stayed here for business and pleasure many many times and I've never been disappointed.  The Epic is just that - EPIC!

Form the first time I stayed at the Epic pulling up to the front of this hotels makes you feel like you pulled up at a luxury car dealer, from bentleys to Maserati to other exotic cars and Yacht's.  Immediately you are greeted by the staff who are all very friendly.  The hotel is also residences so their valet gets a lot of volume therefore call your car in advance before leaving your room.

The hotel has one of the most amazing Japanese restaurants Zuma please try it out you won't be disappointed( read my review on it).  The bar by the pool is also very chic and has amazing views.  The rooms are soo clean and the beds are very comfortable I've stayed in the standard rooms all the way up to their one bedroom suites and all of them have the same amenities and quality of luxury. So you're not missing out on anything but space.  Wine happy hour is the best thing ever.  I also love Kimpton's service of -if you forgot it we will get it- This is a genius perk that I have never seen at any other hotel, because you know when traveling something is bound to be forgotten and these people go above and beyond to get it for you.

The location is also great! Very easy to walk over to the bayside area and enjoy the water as well as the American Airlines Arena to catch a game or a concert.

Ahhh just writing this review is making me want to leave the cold and book a trip down to Miami and stay at the Epic.

A must visit while in Miami.

Absolutely loved my recent stay at the EPIC. Outstanding service, amazing pool deck on the 16th floor, and beautiful rooms. Large beds, large balconies, and large bathtubs are more than enough to keep me happy, and our room had all three. Not to mention their complimentary coffee and tea service every morning, as well as a wine and sangria happy hour from 5-6p every afternoon. More often than not I was buzzed before we had even departed for our dinner reservations, and how could I possibly complain about that?

I personally prefer staying in Downtown Miami as it's more central, so the EPIC was in a perfect location for us. Parking at the hotel itself is expensive, but there are also garages nearby if you've rented a car. We didn't even bother as the cab fares were only ~$30 to Miami International and ~$20 to South Beach.

Definitely sign up for the Kimpton Rewards program as well, as it grants you free WiFi access throughout the hotel and a nice bar credit, among other perks.

I love coming here!  The rooms are amazing and the facility itself is beautiful.  The restaurant on the top can be pricey (hey its miami people) but the quality of ingredients and the combinations are delish.  The bar also has some amazing cocktails as well.  Haven't been able to use the pool yet - its always been too cold.  The gym is a good sized good variety and they have a yoga studio as well open to guests. Fancy pants place! Come if you can!

Another great stay. Hotel is beautiful, as are all the guests.  Views, amenities and general experience was flawless.
In the hotel, Zuma is probably the best restaurant in all of Miami, and you are a walk from Il Gabbiano, and a ton of other top places to eat.
Negatives- traffic downtown is unbearable at times.  Valet parking was like $37/night.

I have never stayed at a hotel that was as disappointing as this one. The biggest issue was the pool, which is gorgeous to look at, but that's basically all it's good for, because the water is painfully cold. They have a heater for it, we found out, but they just refuse to turn it on (either because they are too cheap or too broke - either way, who would want to spend $500 a night for a property either in that much financial distress or simply too cheap and rude to provide the main amenity advertised).

Other areas they seem to be cutting corners on are room service and housekeeping. We called at 9am for some coffee and were told the wait would be almost an hour. For some coffee! So we went to the restaurant to get coffee and a bite to eat. There, we were forced to pay $65 to split an omelette and have some coffee, as a $30/pp breakfast buffet was the only option.

The next morning, we tried for coffee again, because we thought it would be nice to sit on our balcony and drink it. The wait that morning was only 20 minutes. We ordered a pot with two cups and ordered both cream and milk. The pot arrived in a timely manner, with the milk and cream, but with only one cup. The room service attendant promised to be right back. 20 minutes later, we had to call room service to find out where the other cup was. When we complained about the service we were told they were overwhelmed with orders, and hung up on us.

After housekeeping "cleaned" our room, we found urine splashed all over the toilet seat.

Valet parking is another really bad situation. You have to wait forever to retrieve your car and while waiting, we actually watched a valet driver back up into and damage the front of a Porche. We got a kick out of seeing a picture posted on here titled, "Valet Parking at the Epic" - a three-car pile up in front of the hotel.

The bottom line is, if you are too broke or cheap to heat your pool so that the guests can use it, you should close the doors. Because for a very average bed, with horrible pillows and uncomfortable sheets, you can pay $435 less a night at a Motel 6.

My husband and I celebrated my birthday/dinner at Epic/Area 31 years ago and fell in love. My surprise Engagement dinner was in the private room at Area 31 with a customized menu. We then decided to get Married at the hotel as well. The catering Manager Lourdes Ramos is simply amazing and so thoughtful. Helped us create the most beautiful wedding and stay in budget. I had a server that took care of me like his very own at the Wedding his name was Nelson. I'll never forget him. This past Sunday was my first Mothers Day, Lourdes helped my husband surprise me with the BEST weekend mini getaway!! So thankful. The staff is amazing. Food is fantabulous. The ambiance is EVERYTHING!!! I would honestly live there.

My husband was working in Miami and EPIC Kimpton is the hotel that they arranged for our stay. This hotel was absolutely amazing, clean, sexy and luxurious. We had a case of the 'missing deodorant' - true story. In Miami you definitely need deodorant, I searched all around but left my hotel and continued on with my day with no deodorant. I was really upset and angry because I had to go the whole day with no deodorant, and the manager really rectified the situation. I basically accused the cleaning staff of taking my deodorant, but I'm not sure what happened to it. The manager was so great, he gave us 50% off three nights and that was more than generous of him. We never did find that deodorant.

This was a one night business trip for me and I wish it was a vacation because of this hotel.  I could live at Epic.  The standard king rooms are very spacious.  Modern, bright, simple and so cool.  A very well stocked mini bar.  There was a whole .750 bottle of vodka in one of the drawers.  Now that is a party!

The bathroom was an open concept.  You could see the very large tub from the bed.  For those who don't like to leave it out there for all to see there was a privacy shade and yes ladies, the toilet was in it's own little room with a door.

The sixteenth floor was where most of the action was.  There was a very well appointed Gym.  Yoga classes.  A spa that opened up to the pool area which I thought was a great idea.  I think I counted three bars on the property one of which was on this floor.

At night they have a new Jazz bar in the lobby that was hopping when I came back from dinner.  I had a few bourbons while listening to a great trio.

The only bad thing about the place is the parking is a bit of a mess.  The driveway is very tight.  My suggestion is Valet park and call ahead for your car.  I can't wait to go back and spend some more time exploring Miami from this very cool home base.

This is the lobby bar at Epic and we got here too late for food but did enjoy a drink at the bar.  The location and ambience is nice. They have a restaurant upstairs but it was closed. Will review it next time I'm here.

Beautiful hotel with clean, modern rooms, great shower, fantastic pools and gyms, delicious breakfast buffet, nice service.

I find even though it's not on the beach, it's still a great pick - easy to get around from downtown, close to running paths and great restaurants like Cantina La Veinte, and a whole foods which is convenient.

Only complaint (ONLY!) is that the coffee here is soooo weak. Whether it's the free coffee in the lobby in the morning, or the breakfast buffet, it's so watery and weak. Cmon Epic. This is MIAMI. Put some pride and soul into your coffee!

I'd have to say - as a Kimpton aficionado - this hotel doesn't "fit" with the Kimpton brand promise.

It's got all the cool Kimpton stuff you'd expect, and a great gym, but - it's too big and impersonal.  I asked 4 different members of the front desk staff the same questions (where was my fly south to Miami package?  When should I expect my Inner Circle amenity?) and was given four different answers.  I also didn't like the aggressive maid approach (check out is at 12pm so why badger me before then)?

Compare this to the personalized service offering of the Anglers or the Surfcomber (both Kimpton properties in SoBe) and it's very different.  This hotel has a chain store feel as opposed to a boutique.

In summary - I feel this property would be better suited as a Hilton Conrad or similar.  Great if you are on business and are using this place for somewhere to sleep near your office, not great if you want to chill out and enjoy Miami's luxury.  Also - I couldn't get a drink at the bar after 11pm as everything shut down (Tuesday night - I was working late and arrived around 11pm).  Weird.  Unexpected.

    Try it!

This hotel has by far provided me with one of the best hotel experiences that I have ever had! The level of care for their guests is extremely impressive. There is even an afternoon hour (5-6pm) of complimentary wine for hotel guests. The pool is gorgeous and the location is great!
Mostly, I would like to briefly describe the superb customer service and friendliness of a mister Spencer Tallafero - the bartender at their Lilt Lounge (right at the lobby level)! This guy creates a very special atmosphere of fun and curiosity about the drinks that he makes with so much care and focus for his customers!
If there were more stars than five, Spencer would have gotten them!
Thank you for a wonderful experience - I hope to see you next time!
