The JW Marriott Marquis is a luxurious hotel. I stayed for 6 nights for the Sony Ericsson tennis tournament. I had a spacious room with a bay view. There is a large screen television in the living area for great sports viewing, and there is a separate television screen built into the bathroom mirror. Marble floors, great shower, great gym, nice outdoor pool, running route close by, good coffee shop and a variety of restaurants on site, nice staff, comfortable beds, quiet. I will definitely stay there again! Oh yeah, there is a computer with free internet access in the room.

With my job I am in hotels at least once or twice per week throughout the southeast.  I've had the pleasure of staying at Mariott Marquis 3 or 4 times and can honestly say it is my favorite hotel for business. great views.  incredibly nice staff.  and, the margarita's are not too bad.  give it a shot on your next trip to Miami.

Like the two stars say: "Meh. I've experienced better".
We were there for a conference in October. Seriously, the pool was closed for two of the 31/2 days we were there. Did get to see it while waiting to leave for the airport and it was very nice, good bar service, cool rooftop views.
No one there hurt themselves running to assist us that's for sure. Hard to find a concierge to get advice about what to do in the area or where to find a drugstore, etc. They seem truly ill-prepared for more than two patrons in the bar, ran out of pepperoni for pizza? One evening, some of our group went to the hotel bar and at 10 or so were told the kitchen was closed so no food available (we wanted a couple of appetizers). Um, yeah, so we can back to our room and order room service (the exact same menu) but you guys can't feed us here where we're spending money on drinks? On our way out, the manager tried to stop us and apologize, saying of course they would get us food if we'd like to stay. Declined that too late offer. Wow.
The hotel is pretty. The beds are GREAT. Having to leave your room key card in a slot to keep the lights on is weird. I get the "green" concept of it, but when one of  us left to get ice or something and took the card, the other person is left in the dark unless you want to get up and insert the other key you have stashed in your purse. I mean really.

The best hotel downtown Miami. Open in October 2010. This place is fabulous.  High tech, swanky and my room had the best view of Biscayne Bay and Brickell Key. The hotel staff was warm, friendly and diverse. More like what you would expect at the Ritz Carlton. There is a screening room, bowling alley, lap pool, huge gym. There is a boutique hotel on the top 3 or 4 floors that apparently are designed for visiting basketball teams and open to the public. I love this place. If you are going to Miami ironman the hotel is across the street from the host hotel and 3 blocks to the venue.

Gorgeous hotel! Welcoming and very nice staff, amAAzing room and fitness facilities and mindblowing views from oversized windows. Only downside were the bed was too soft, so I tried to sleep on the soft floor, but I got allergic (dustmites) and had to crawl up again and slept really bad both nights of my stay. I wanted to rate it 4,5 as this was the ONLY downside at all! (but pretty important..)

The best experience I have ever had at a hotel, hands down. From check-in to check-out we did not experience anything other than first class service. Our room was fantastic, as was customer service, and the dinner we had in the restaurant downstairs was simply amazing.

Would definitely recommend staying here!

I did not stay at the hotel, per say, but I had the opportunity to see quite a bit. This review will be limited to what I was able to experience while running around.

First off, this hotel is NOT the JW Marriott Hotel Brickell. The two hotels are half mile from each other so it is very easy to confuse the two, and I almost parked in the wrong one! Be sure to check which is which before you show up! The walk from one to the other is not an easy one. The entrance (depending on which way you are going) is right next to the Brickell / Downtown bridge. It can be tricky navigating the area, but some patience will let you find it.

While in the hotel, I was able to experience two different rooms. One was a corner room and the other was a "center" room. Hands down, the corner room was much better than the center room. The views from both rooms were very nice, but actual the actual "walking" is always something I consider important. Both rooms had desks with computers for business usage. There were TVs everywhere! Large flat panels in high definition. All table surfaces are class topped with wood underneath.

Both rooms had a fancy coffee machine with cartridges. Tip: READ the instructions before using it!

Bathrooms had TVs in the mirror, a bath tub, and a shower. Marble floors and an open layout allowed for great comfort.

Bottom Line: Top of the line. Check it out, but be wary on trying to find it!

I stayed 5 nights for attending some conference held in there. Guest room looks gorgeous with big TV. But I don't have any good impression there.
It was crazy cold in the conference room. Nothing was changed for 1st 3 day after a lot of complaining in heavy storm outside.
The phone in my guest room was rather inconvenient. There was no paper phone directory but color phone display. Nothing worked such as laundry service or wake-up call. I had to call front desk every time.
Room key touching at some device in elevator was also inconvenient. Probably it's for security. How can we touch such key in crowded elevator ? No way to ask some one to push the button.

My husband and I stayed on December 1st 2012 part of my birthday celebration and this is a 10 star hotel totally luxurious. Room service awesome food fantastic at a resonable price I had a magnificient view of the water and you cannot beat the service and they only do valet parking. I would go again and again and again

The Marriott Marquis was probably one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at - on par with the Ritz in Philly and St. Regis in San Francisco. I stayed here for the three days of Ultra Music Festival. The hotel was definitely busy, but the excellent staff at the front desk managed to get me a corner room on the 29th floor with an amazing view. My only minor complaint was that I wasn't able to get a room with two double beds. However, the staff made up for this by getting me a roll away.

Beds were super comfortable and the room had some of the fastest WiFi I've ever used in a hotel. The room had a 50" LCD TV as well as an LCD built into the mirror of the enormous bathroom with separate shower and tub. In-room espresso / coffee makers was a nice perk as well.

The fitness center was excellent. It included a range of machines, free weights, kettle bells and medicine balls. The pool was located on the 19th floor and had a great view of the bay. The hot tub was somewhat small, but nice nonetheless.

I only dined once at the hotel - at the Met Cafe. However, the food (Mexican Salad) was amazing and reasonably priced.

Definitely recommend the Marquis if you are planning to stay in downtown Miami

We were provided a room on the 41st floor with a fantastic view. Very reasonably priced. Top notch service. Large, quiet, and clean room. We have stayed in luxury hotels (in other cities) at over twice the price, and this hotel beats them all by far in all categories. Web access computer station in the room and free WIFI. Doesn't get any better than this. Valet parking only.

We arrived early and they were 100% booked from the night before so we had to wait a bit for our room.   We ended up in a corner room with absolutely beautiful views.   We never made it to the pool, gym or basketball court (next time) but we really were impressed with this property.  Even the room service food (hey, the view was great so we had dinner brought in one night) was excellent.   Took a cab to Coconut Grove one night, went into South Beach using the Miami marathon shuttle after the fitness expo another day, another day took a cab to Little Havana.   Everything was perfect during our stay.   We were there four nights for the Miami Marathon.

Room was great with bay views. Bed was super comfy. TV in the bathroom mirror was a nice touch. There was good lighting in the bathroom. There's separate shower and full tub.
Was there for 3 nights and the last night didn't get bottled water and turned down service. No big deal because didn't need it anyway.
The lobby bar is nice. We had some decent appetizers there. First night we had some amazing blackberry mojitos. Tony, the bartender was very attentive and made some great drinks. I was such a big fan I stopped by the next day and ordered the same mojito but alas it was a different bartender. This lady made a horrible mojito that was too sugary for me.
Staff at the service desk were very helpful. we left luggage at the front desk on our last day and they were very accomodating.
Unfortunately didn't get a chance to check out the pool. So can't comment on that. Intentionally avoided the gym heck I had better things to do in Miami. ;)

Let me be clear, this property isn't just nice "for a Marriott", it's one of the nicer hotels I've ever stayed in, and probably in my top 10, and if you factor in value definitely in the top 5. The fact this hotel offers a government rate (if rooms are available) is just incredible given how outstanding all of the features are and its location. I think if you are staying in downtown Miami, rather than Miami Beach, for some reason there's no reason to book anywhere else, aside from maybe Epic across the street, which was my other option.

Construction on this hotel apparently just finished in 2010, so it's all brand new, and was the first ever in Marriott's "Marquis" line which has now extended to New York, San Francisco, and Atlanta. The level of quality shows in almost every detail too, as they really thought through the customer experience to provide you anything you could want in your stay. From the multiple lighting sources that cater to any possible situation to unbelievably soft linens and mattress to fall asleep easily, they've redefined comfort and softness in a big brand hotel setting. The main room television is top of the line and considerably larger than any I've seen in a hotel, and has a little companion situated in the middle of the bathroom mirror, so you never have to miss a snap no matter where you are in the suite. The in-room office is fantastic for travelers who don't carry personal electronics, with all sorts of technology that I didn't bother with as I had my own. There's even a personal espresso machine by Illy included in the room. Aside from the television, the bathroom is loaded with other great amenities like a full sized bathtub for 2, and a huge glass encased shower with a multi-function shower head as well as a wand you can use to fully clean those hard to reach areas. The sink space is massive and a beautiful granite, although like some others I found the design of the bowl itself to be more aesthetically pleasing than functional, especially for shaving or face washing.

The location of the JW Marquis is really ideal for anyone wanting to experience "downtown" Miami, as it is right across from the Brickell neighborhood and Bayside park, nearby to the arts district, and a very short cab ride to Wynwood or Midtown. Being situated right on the Biscayne Bay also provides stunning views from the side of the hotel which faces it, that I happened to be lucky enough to score a suite on. Waking up each day and pulling aside the double curtains to sweeping views for miles in any direction was certainly a great way to get excited for an adventure every day.

Outside of the room itself, the extra features of this hotel are certainly over the top, but not in a necessarily bad way, they're just really well done, and big in a Miami style way. There's a monstrous indoor basketball court, which apparently plays host to traveling NBA teams from time to time, as well as a billiards room and virtual bowling alley, all on one level. You can also find the pool deck there, with beds and chairs and separate pool towels so guests don't have to sneak down with ones from their rooms. As you can see from the photos all of these areas are expertly crafted, but scarcely used. Between the two days I went to the pool I only ever saw one other person, and nobody in any of the sports areas. The restaurant in this hotel, DB Bistro Moderne, is actually operated by famous chef Daniel Boulud, quite a treat to find in Miami even if the menu is scaled down for simplicity from his other operations...and even still they manage to offer a burger filled with braised short rib, foie gras and black truffle, so there's no decline in quality.

Loved the hotel during our stay last month.

Rooms are huge and the views amazing. The beds are very soft (hope you like to sink into the mattress and ultra soft pillows). The bathrooms are spectacular! Built in tv into the mirror. Yup, the mirror. Great pressure on the shower, nice products to use, plush towels, the works! The room also comes with an espresso coffee maker. Sweet!

Cons- The pool is oddly located. I guess you can't help but have high rises near you but at one point it's really shaded. Also, the tv does not have the option to order movies. No, not "those" movies, ANY movies. I got sick one night and we decided to just stay in, relax and catch up on some movies and when you turn to the menu option for movies it tells you how to get to HBO. Gee thanks. I found that odd.

The other con is that the people working the valet and guest arrival and departure outside are a little clueless. Several times we asked questions and they either studdered or looked at us with a blank expression. For example, I wanted to know the location to the PF Changs in Mary Brickell (because I could not remember the name "mary brickell". The guy answers " um, yeah, there are lots of restaurants in Bayside and ..." What? "No", I said, "P.F. C.H.A.N.G.S by Brickell"? So he looks stumped, "um yeah, what kind of food are you looking to eat?" Urgh! and so on. It went on until my Iphone came to the rescue. I can see how all tourists get routed to Bayside.

I used the hair salon which sadly has only interior walls. Did not get to use their gym but it looked really nice.

It is mostly a business hotel it seems but it worked for us. We used it as a STAYCATION getaway and it was a great location close to the design district, the Brickell area and Miami Beach.    

While there we dined at DB Bistro downstairs and later went back weeks later to an event in their reception halls which I must say are superb!

We have traveled frequently over the years and stayed in a lot of fine hotels, but this is the most amazing hotel we've ever stayed in. The entire staff is friendly and you can tell they love people as well as their jobs; the best service we've experienced at any hotel. We were originally going to stay right on South Beach, and now we are glad we didn't, especially after we talked to local people who said South Beach is a tourist trap and expensive.  We took that with a grain of salt, until we visited, then we saw it was true.  JW Marriott Marquis is located so close to everything, you can walk to shop and eat at nice places.  While at the hotel, make sure you check out the gym, pool, bowling alley, basketball court, pool table, 3D theater, and golf simulator on the 19th and 20th floors. This building will exceed expectations of even the most demanding person.  Don't be afraid to ask the staff for help, they are more than willing to help.  Also, the thing we liked is that they got us into places we wouldn't have otherwise, and then asked us if we had a great time the next day or so when they saw us.  To care enough about your job to remember and follow up with your customers made a great impression on us...a skill at this hotel that has been ingrained in every employee apparently.  We will definitely come back!

Oh, and for the Tech Nerds like myself, you will enjoy the free hi-speed WiFi.  It was good enough that I brought my Apple TV and was able to stream HD movies.  I also streamed HD radio (Pandora, iHeart, etc.) with no lags in coverage.  Impressive.

There is no place I would rather stay than in this hotel when I am in Miami. I would give 5 stars but there was a service glitch with our spa appointments that was worked out. The rooms are lovely remind of St. Germain hotels. The modern decor and views are breath taking. Who doesn't want to sit in the bathroom and watch tv all day. The entrance/lobby is a little far back as if something is missing. Pool area is nice, needed to implement an electronic food and beverage ordering system for that floor (bowling alley, basketball court, media room, etc.).Hugan, Javier, Angelo, Claudette, Smensa,  and Vicky were all very kind and helpful.

This is by far the BEST hotel my fiance and I have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in many 4 star hotels, and a 5 star hotel.

The room was large (500+ sq ft), great view with floor to ceiling and wall-to-wall windows on one side, overlooking the ocean (with a couple buildings at a comfortable distance).  The front desk was very helpful and friendly and there was turn-down service where they provided complimentary bottles of water, chocolates, and even emptied the garbage (completely not necessary for a turn down service!).

THREE TVs! There was a 55 inch TV in front of the very comfortable king-sized bed, one built into the mirror in the washroom, and also one connected to the computer monitor.  Yes, there was a computer for our use with complimentary Internet.

This was my first time in downtown Miami.  We were unfortunately only staying one night and I completely didn't want to leave.  Forget seeing the city, let's just spend all day in the hotel!!!

Came here for 3 days of meetings and really liked the hotel. They were very attentive and were prepared with doughnuts, cookies, coffee at the end of all our sessions which was a nice touch.

My company had an event at night in their interactive game room where they had interactive bowling (kind od like wii), pool table, interactive golf where you can compare your golf swing to that of a professional, and a full size basketball court (supposedly the Pacers stayed here when they played the heat during the playoffs).

I hear the rooms were beautiful.

I'm definitely wavering between a four and a five star right now after staying here one evening.

This freshly minted hotel in downtown Miami had been on everyone's radar for quite some time as a $1 billion multi-use complex complete with condos, offices, stores and a movie theater. Not to mention and absolutely stunning behemoth of a hotel. And lucky for me the Grand Opening was last night, the same evening that I was checking in. So while I tried to brave the crowds with my rolling luggage, Brooke Shields was being snapped by paparazzi. This made for a bit of an awkward entrance as publicists kept hounding me for my photo. Actually, they were just wondering where my entrance bracelet was. Oh well, I was trying to do was get in an elevator to my room, a little sad to be E-listed on the celeb scale.

But then there was the room. Large, spectacular and luxurious. This room is made for the business traveler but could be enjoyed by just about anyone. The masculine elements were a nice departure from my usual Viceroy white marble visits, with shiny dark wood finishes, tan leather and sleek television sets built for both ease and convenience. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out. The Illy espresso machine was modern, though surprisingly easy to use.

Some things they could improve. The phone was confusing and basically unusable for any internal services. I wanted to order room service, yet there was no number call room service. The restaurants are still working out kinks, as were the staff. Though everyone was very friendly, I found myself doing a lot of waiting around - to be seated, to order, for the elevator, to ask a question. There's no guide in the elevator, though there are a lot of different amenities on different floors. I'm sure it will all get smoothed out as time goes on.

Personally, I'd leap at an opportunity to stay here again. While it's downtown and not on Miami Beach and there's no real swimming pool, as a hotel, it quite simply rocks.

The nicest hotel room I have ever been in, in my entire life.

I had a view of the waterway out to the ocean, and I had such a miraculous expresso machine I wanted to pray to it.

The bathroom, the bedroom, the little biz center with high tech everything, it was so nice for the price.

It was a modern Italian design i guess--Like something out of architectural digest.

The desk staff were so helpful and the bar downstairs had such awesome mojitos even by Miami standards.

This is by far the best and most accommodating JW. Fantastic bay views, the room amenities include an in room PC, tv in the bathroom mirror, full tub and separate glass shower allowing you to see the tv, daily inclusive bottle of water and ice, marble, 50 inch
TV and very comfortable views. Room service was pleasing and their gym is incredible looking out over the bay. Highly recommended and I will definitly return.

Definitely not a 5 star hotel...
Service was good but the location is bad if you want to experience Miami Beach or South Beach.  And since most of the tours leave from that part of Miami, taking a taxi there and back doubles you cost for the tour.  They have a couple of lanes of bowling and a pool table, but they charge $25 an hour to use either of them. During our two days at the hotel, nobody was using either.  I wonder why?!?!
And the a/c in our room stopped working properly on our last night so the coolest we could get the room was 73 degrees.  That, plus the fact that the bed and pillows were uncomfortable, made for a poor sleeping experience.
I would not stay here again.

This is one of my favorite hotels.  I enjoy staying here.  The technology at this hotel is unreal.  I've stayed in their jr suite, regular two queen room and king room.  All are spacious and have this incredibly sexy bathroom with bath.  My date took a bath nightly, she enjoyed the salts the hotel provided.

I also took a stroll and found many inexpensive eateries nearby.  And a cab ride to Mary Brickell Village is only like 6 bux.  

The concierge lounge is among the nicest i've seen. Even nicer than the new york marquis.  it's on the 36th floor with these spectacular views of biscayne bay.  One night, I had all my buddies meet there before the club to hang and drink a few drinks.  It was the perfect way to start the night.  A bottle of grey goose on top of miami...  :)

Now their breakfast servings are a bit lackluster, but it's an american style breakfast... potatos, eggs, bacon sausage...  simple.  enough to get your day started but it would have been nice to have pancakes or other stuff...  eh.  not a deal breaker.

The staff is top notch. Never really had any hiccups and i've stayed here like 8 times. And they are always lookin to wow you.  

One bored girl on the 19th floor gave us a tour just because, it was nice of her.  She showed us the pool table, basketball court (which was a tennis court because of the us open), the spa, the bowling alley, and the golf school.

The pool.  OMG.  although its not as "epic" as the property across the street.  It's sits higher and is made of aluminum.  It gets naturally warmed by the sun... and feels fantastic on your feet.  It was different.  I really like this hotel... i'm going back in a week.

A top of the line experience, for sure.

My boyfriend and I checked into the JWMM for 4 days/5 nights and enjoyed every minute of our stay.  From the extremely helpful and knowledgable staff, to the well-appointed rooms, the rooftop pool, and hotel food options...it was everything a luxury hotel should be.  It seemed like they were always looking for a way to go above and beyond the typical hotel experience.  

The concierge made several key suggestions throughout our stay.  When we wanted to venture out of the city and over to the beach, the very helpful Andres was able to recommend a private beach in South Beach.  They even hooked us up with complimentary towels, reclining beach towels, and an umbrella.  It couldn't have been a more perfect beach day!  The concierge was also able to make some excellent restaurant recommendations, from lunch at a restaurant down the street to brunch in South Beach.  We found that taxi fares to other areas of interest (South Beach, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, the Airport) to all be within $18-$24, depending on the driver.

When we felt like hanging out at the hotel, the rooftop pool, fitness center, and casual restaurant on the second floor kept us occupied.  My boyfriend claimed the salad with quail egg and warm bacon dressing was one of the best salads he'd ever had.

Finally, the rooms.  Soft bed topped with numerous fluffy pillows.  Working desk equipped with a functional lamp, desktop computer, wifi, and convenient outlets.  Huge flatscreen Samsung TV, smaller TV set in the bathroom mirror.  Complimentary water bottles and filled ice bucket every night.  I didn't want to leave!

All in all, we had a wonderful stay and I would gladly return to this JW Marriott on a future trip to Miami.  A tip: if you take a taxi, make sure you specify that you're staying at the Maquis on Biscayne Blvd Way.  We had at least three drivers take us to the wrong hotel.

We stayed 4 nights and had a very comfortable stay.  The staff was great and the location was within walking distance of the Brickell Plaza and had easy access to uber transportation and taxis.  We didn't use many of the extra onsite services and we ate mostly offsite but overall I felt really safe and comfortable in this hotel.  Bed was comfortable and bath amenities were nice - rosemary/lavender scented.  My only qualm was with the size of the bathroom counter (kinda small) but overall a great experience.

I've stayed here a couple of times and everytime I have stayed I recieved VIP service from the time I left my keys with valet to the time I checked out and valet returned my car to me without a scratch!  

Rooms were COMFORTABLE AND SYLISH with contemporary furniture, a heavenly comfortable bed, and beautiful majestic views of downtown and the Bay of Miami!

Service was OUSTANDING!

The entertainment within the hotel were "WOW"!  Amazing gym with EVERYTHING and a kick-butt view!  A huge NBA approved basketball arena which can apparently be turned into a full-sized tennis court, virtual bowling, Spa and more...It is quite overwhelming all of the things you can experience at this hotel!   Everytime we stay either at the Beaux Arts or the Marquis we rented out the basketball court for a couple of hours and all I can say is the experience is "wow"!  We always have a basketball attendant who brings us water and towels and catered to all of our needs while on the court.  The pool is beautiful!  Although, since it is in between the tall downtown buildings, sun only comes out in the morning and the shade takes over in the afternoon.

The restaurants at the hotel are simply delicious!  For breakfast we ate the complimentary breakfast at the concierge lounge (CL) on the 38th floor.  The CL is exclusive to Marriott Rewards Gold and Platinum Elites which is a nice touch for us being frequent Marriotters!  The CL waitress was very accomodating and the selection of food was okay...nothing out of this world, but then again it was an extra for us so I had no comlaints.  We also ate breakfast at the buffet on the 2nd floor which was very good.  We also had the opportunity to eat at the Met Cafe and DB Bistro which were both excellent!

Location, location, location!!  This hotel is situated walking distance from Bayside Market Place/American Airlines Arena/Bicentenial Park, long walking distance/3 minute drive to Brickell (the financial district) where there are tons of bars and restaurants, and a 5 minute drive to South Beach.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Miami, stop looking and book this hotel.  

I can't say enough about this hotel....whoever designed it, as well as the staff who works here, needs a raise.  They anticipated our every need before we knew we had a need.....the big things, as well as the smallest details are in a word, perfect.  

The rooftop pool is a don't miss. While you are there, take a peek at the other amenities (although don't get too excited about using the basketball court if you are here with a kiddo - the rental fee and grandeur of this beauty suggests it is tailored for use by opponents of the Miami Heat when they come to stay).  

As another reviewer stated, the technology here will blow you away....

Our view was spectacular, overlooking the waterway and beautiful Miami high rise buildings.   Fitness center was outstanding.  

Location is great, within easy walking distance to AA Arena and Bayside marketplace, the launching point for all tour boats and buses.

Don't miss this one.   The nicest Marriott I've stayed in - ever.

The JW Marriott Marquis is class, my man. It gives you a swank atmosphere without feeling stuffy - the staff are still friendly and helpful, but they recede into the background a little more.

The rooms are very comfortable and pretty well thought out. The workstation desk area is well-designed with extra power plugs, a comfortable workchair, work lighting, and plenty of desk space. I absolutely love the little LED reading lights that Marriott's been putting into more and more of their business-class hotels.

Bathroom amenities are nice, too; though the sink design is more of an aesthetic success than a functional one. The addition of an illy/FrancisFrancis! espresso pod machine in every room is seriously cool. The hotel bar (db bistro moderne) is excellent as well, especially if you're a whiskey drinker - the single-malt selection is more than adequate.

Convenient to downtown, the docks (perfect for a romantic, classy overnight before a cruise), and a hop over the causeway to Miami Beach.

Very nice Marriott hotel. Great downtown location however due to the downtown traffic patterns, it can be kind of confusing to get to the hotel driveway.

Room was massive, with floor to high-ceiling windows, a gigantic and supremely comfortable bed and a far more luxurious bathroom than I've ever had the pleasure of using. I also highly appreciated the modern and contemporary decor and styling - quite unlike the numerous boring expensive luxury hotels in the faux Italianate / neo classical palace style.

The hotel service was attentive and friendly, sometimes bordering on overly attentive in the lobby area.

One First-World quibble though: The rooms would have been better equipped with Nespresso machines rather than the overly complicated illy copycat machines. I prefer to use illy coffee at home if I grind it myself, but their automated coffee pod machine is quite difficult to use for an "automated" machine.

One of my FAVORITE JW's!  Rooms are spacious and equip with TVs in bathroom mirror. My room had a great view of the bay. Brickell Key is where you can find a perfect running path and the area is very safe to run in. The staff is perfect and could not be more accommodating. Gym has about 10 treadmills and cold towels infused with eucalyptus. Perfect. And this hotel has so much more!

Stayed here in September 2012. There aren't any extravagant chandeliers in the lobby, nor does it have mass square footage / Rembrandt hand paintings on the ceiling. However, this place is high end at one of Miami's finest.  

A tad distant from south beach, but you can look out your room window and see Biscayne Bay at the hotel's foot step! Magnificent views that would give a "wow" factor.
My room had a 50" LED television, and the bathroom had a small television embedded within the mirror! Impressive! Overall room had a very high end, hip, feel!

You need to take advantage of the gym, bowling alley, billards room and basketball court when staying there ( Gym is top notch - equal to a real fitness center, and has incredible floor to ceiling views of the bay)!!

Although most Miami 5 star hotels are a south beach, the aesthetics, amenities, and service make it highly competitive. Above all, the cost is much more reasonable than most other high end places. South beach is easily accessible by taxi (or by foot) if desired.

While using the spa at this hotel i used valet to park my car.  My car was then taken on a joy ride while i was in the spa!!!!! It took 30 minutes for them locate my car because an employee had taken my car to go get lunch!!! I found Taco Bell receipts and Sauce packets in my car along with my AC was blasting, there was a spanish radio station on and my seat was completely moved! DO NOT TRUST THIS PEOPLE WITH YOUR CAR!!!!!!

I have stayed at quite a few hotels around the world. Got dropped at this one by mistake vs the other Jw Marriott in Miami and the staff was rude, aggressive and outright frightening .

I would not and will not ever stay at a marriott again!

My firm owns several companies and Marriott is off our list of hotels! Absolutely ridiculous and the owners need to reconsider their hiring and training practices.

Carpool. Valet parking only @ $36 per 24 hrs.  And that is the only reason I don't give it 5 stars.  Otherwise, it's a beautifully appointed hotel with a wonderfully friendly staff, gorgeous lobby, and wonderful suites.  Centrally located in downtown Miami, I loved staying here for an evening of art in the WynWood district.

We stayed one night at this modern hotel and was impressed- we had a very nice suite on 22nd floor- room was very spacious and the bathroom was lovely! Our bed was comfy and relaxing and the room had plenty of electrical outlets for iPhones etc...

I would definitely stay here again!

Just held a meeting here recently. Great service and food. Best part?  The giant sleeping rooms!  All of our attendees thought we upgraded them to bigger rooms.  Loved all of the great amenities of the hotel, from my welcome snack to the basketball court (where we had a great event) to the flexible meeting space.
Only complaint would be not enough elevators for so many floors.

My interpretation regarding the Marriott is that it's all about high class in terms of service but they usually fail when it comes to design (too dull for me). However, this location is beautiful. I had a standard king room and it was huge! I had a view of the bay, a huge king bed, a huge 55 inch TV, the bathroom had a shower and a separate tub with a TV embedded into the mirror! The service and interaction that I had with every employee was wonderful, they always engaged with you. If you have a chance you should check out the buffet in the morning as it was tasty and fulfilling. The location is in downtown Miami and can be hard to find so be patient. My only negative is that I didn't stay longer (mind you I live in Miami but wanted to stay close to the arena for a concert). I will visit again!

We were guests at the Beaux Arts, a Marriott boutique hotel situated within the JW Marquis Miami property. This review relates to their shared valet service which runs $38 a day.

We had called down to have the car brought around, lady on the phone says eta 15 minutes. Great. We go down 15 minutes later, a valet attendant comes and checks our ticket #, runs to the valet booth to check with the counter staff, and comes back to confirm that the car will be out soon. It was noon on a weekday so ramp traffic was abound, we figured maybe max a 10 minute delay on top of the already elapsed 15 minutes. Sure whatever. We wait for 45 minutes and the car STILL has not shown up. We go over to the valet counter staffed by two young ladies. One of them takes our ticket, looks at her clipboard and turns out she never put our ticket number in the queue of cars to be retrieved in the first place and sure enough our keys were still hanging inside the booth. She mumbles a half-hearted "sorry it was our mistake, I will put it in" or something equally lame. She made no offer to prioritize the retrieval of the car within the queue knowing how long ago we had called in the pick-up. I guess she expected us to wait yet another of their standard 15 minute blocks. I told her how unacceptable the situation was which she responded to with a blank stare. At some point the other one clued in that the situation was not bueno and rushed to get the valet manager. He makes our car arrive shortly. Later, the valet manager and the hotel MOD addressed our complaint and we were given some modest tokens of restitution. Sadly, time wasted is not easily recompensed.

This was a frustrating experience. It was our last day in Miami, we were on a schedule and this threw us off. There were too many points of failure here for us to shrug it off as an understandable mistake or happenstance from (i) the initial request and confirmation on the phone that our car would be out in the prescribed time; (ii) the attendant who confirmed that the car was on its way out when we came down, and (iii) to the valet manager who would occasionally wander by as he surveyed his valet area but somehow missed seeing two persons waiting for a not insignificant amount of time and asking within earshot where their car was and who the manager was (literally, we were 1 of 2 parties waiting around the porte cochere, this should not have been too hard to spot if you were even slightly concerned about your level of service). I also found the group of old ladies smoking massive and exceptionally foul-smelling Cuban cigars at the Marriott's main entrance/porte cochere area extra troubling. Like a crappy version of the Peninsula lions, they appeared to be permanent fixtures as they were ubiquitously present at all hours, in groups of 2-6 every time we entered/exited property during our three day stay. Not only were they there to emit pollutants but they had some kind of commercial operation going on where their customers would clog up the hotel's ramp space with their idling SUVs effectively blocking the flow of legitimate hotel traffic as they drove up smack dab center into the valet staging area and jumped out to buy/sell cK men's underwear and Juicy Couture perfume and who knows what else from the ringleader who concealed her wares in a carry-on suitcase to make the group appear to be regular tourist folk. Maybe somebody somewhere gets a cut for turning a blind eye and allowing Cigar Lady LLC to engage in trade on-site this conveniently located downtown Miami valet ramp. If not, could Management please have them removed from property as their customers are further exacerbating an already suboptimal valet operation and hotel entrances are probably not unconditional public spaces where you can just set up your little storefront.

To any prospective guests or those just wanting to use the property's valet service, I reiterate reviewers below in saying that the valet service is consistently unreliable and if something goes wrong, don't expect a solution from the front-line staff, you'll have to take it up with a manager. If you are used to and trust in the seamless level of service present at a Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons or a Waldorf type property, i.e. an upscale level of service that the Marquis pretends to have, you won't find it here.

Yes, yes, yes!  What an amazing hotel!!  We booked a night here when we went to see LMFAO in concert.  We reserved a suite and it was beautiful!  Tall ceilings, full glass windows over looking the city.  The living room was huge, enough to accommodate 15 to 20 people.    The bedroom was stunning.  Large comfy bed, beautiful design.  Now, the bathroom.  Very nice glass shower, but the big bonus was the bathtub.  It was a huge bathtub that could accommodate two people, placed right next to a full floor to ceiling window.  I could have spent my whole day in the bathroom.

The view allows you to look out at the ocean, you can watch the large yachts/boats coming in and out of the area.

The hotel is within walking distance to many things downtown.

The concierge lounge was very large, with beautiful views.  

We would have stayed a second night just due to the beauty of this hotel, but we had prior engagements that we had to return home for.

I've been to many JW for work but Miami location is probably one of the best ones. Great customer service, excellent location, beautiful room, breathtaking view, list goes on.
Bellboys were fantastic, we had out of town guests with kids, the bellboys not only remembered my name but all of our guests and kids name (the bellboys were brothers) while delivering everything that we asked for.

Amenity was fantastic, we played bowling, hang out at salt water pool, worked out at gym, dined nice meal.

We can't really afford to stay here often, but if the price is right I would come back again for R&R.

This is a POSH hotel...when you stay at a JW Marriott, they are not fooling around.

The grand entrance which I swear is hidden from plain sight was difficult to find, but once you find it, you're greeted by just plush and posh inside from the couches, to the chandelier to the escalator taking you to the bar.  Sweet.

What more could you ask for in decor, room detail, amenities?

But the price tag is hefty in Miami, for this taste of luxury.

This is not your typical JW Marriott. The valet parking is unorganized and people are just standing around.  Called down for call (advised 15 min) took 30. They forgot to go get the car.  Then one of the valets tells me "it's on the way". Not!  Just sent the guy to get it!!

Staying three nights, on second day cleaning lady take spare room card for lights and AC.

Other issues but you get the point.

I haven't stayed here but I am very upset at the terrible customer service at this location that cancels reservations without notice.

Not even a call to say there was a problem!!

What a rude and disgusting practice.

I had to hunt down the reason via central reservations and when I called the hotel directly to reinstate the reservation, the stupid lady who probably cancelled it said we'd have to book a new reservation with the new rates!!

Absolutely infuriating!!

I've been going to Marriott for years and never experienced such terrible customer service!

Giving this one star would give a negative star of I could.because my husband just told me he went to the bar and two hookers came up begging him to take them to his room.  The bartender saw this and didn't run them off.  My husband told them he wasn't interested so they went to the next table and talked the other table with two business men and scored.  Hope your husband isn't there and if he is I hope he has willpower to turn away hookers,  else you might want to get an STD test. Disappointed to say the least.

We had stayed at the JW Marriott Marquis during our honeymoon and they had far exceeded our expectations! Great service, friendly staff, and comfortable swanky suites. Their Illy Expressmente cafe serves amazing lattes, and their pool has an amazing view overlooking Downtown Miami. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Miami!

This place is tied for 1st place with regards to the best suite I have ever stayed at!

I checked into the hotel around 12:30am (delayed flight) and was greeted warmly by the front desk staff. I was generously upgraded to a suite when i mentioned that I had never stayed at this hotel before.

When I entered the suite, I was truly blown away by the view, and the room itself! I think it was comfortably larger than my apartment. Very luxurious bedroom and ridiculously luxurious bathroom. I gushed over the room for a good 20 mins before I finally fell asleep.

I checked out the concierge lounge in the morning and again, think its is among the best I have been to. Although the breakfast items laid out were pretty standard, the layout, the view and the friendly staff really helped make it a great experience.

Next time I'm in Miami, I know my go-to hotel! I think these guys just beat the JW on Brickell (which is also pretty sweet, btw) !

Definitely the nicest hotel in Miami.  The hotel staff was excellent, very friendly, and the hotel was spectacular.  As a Marriott Platinum Elite, I was upgraded to a suite which was about 1500 square feet of luxury.  The room had two 60 inch HDTV flatscreens, two bathrooms, and a TV in the bathroom mirror.  Very comfortable and easy to get work done in the office which was just off the living room.

Had access to the concierge lounge where there was a delicious breakfast and unlimited coffee and water.  Still can't figure out the "honor bar" - even at the Residence Inn they don't ask you to cough up $8 for a glass of wine...

The pool was spectacular although if you are after some sun you will probably only get it for a couple hours, as the pool area is literally surrounded by skyscrapers.  It has a stainless steel bottom and is not very deep, but makes for great swimming after a long day.  When you are done there are all kinds of recreational opportunities you can enjoy, including a full size Miami Heat inspired basketball court - on the 19th floor.

Only had a couple small issues... The aromatherapy products were kind of ick, smelled kind of bad.  I didn't find out for a couple days that the Marriott branded water bottles were complimentary, and the valet parking situation is horrible and expensive.  I had to go to some window to get my car, and then it took the guy 10 minutes to get my car.

Definitely try the Met Bar and Grill - fantastic Chop Salad !!

Can I just move in please?  Our room was immaculate and gorgeous.  Everything was upgraded and first class.  The bed was huge and comfortable.  Staff was friendly.

But oh, the gym!  By far the biggest and nicest hotel gym I've ever seen.  The citrus water was refreshing, towels, and even headphones!  

Breakfast on the concierge level was above and beyond expectations.  Great stay

4 star hotel with 2 star service. We showed up at 3 for check in. Room was not ready until 5. Asked for two doubles at booking. For one king.

Decent amenities no shoe polish service. No turn down service.

Beds were comfortable. Room was very clean. Tv was large and great for watching football.

Roll out cot was like sleeping on a college futon.

Amazing hotel and very friendly staff! We stayed on the 34th floor. The suite was spacious, beautiful and the view, magnificent! There is a tv embedded in the mirror of the bathroom! Amazing! Pool, basketball courts and virtual bowling on the 19th floor. We were there on a particularly windy and cool day but the pool is heated which is very nice!  We had a fabulous time. I highly recommend staying here.

This hotel is the hotel of hotels. The staff is awesome! They are always pleasantly happy to see you and always acknowledge your presence. The rooms are quite large with a office desk and two double beds. They offer an espresso machine instead of a coffee maker. The complimentary body wash, shampoo, and lotion are of a higher standard and is of the aroma therapy kind. The bathroom is all marble with a shower and bathtub. The bathroom mirror has a TV coming through it so you can get ready or take a bath and watch your favorite tv show at the same time. Great hotel! I recommend staying here.

I stayed here a couple of weeks ago before going on a cruise the next day.   My wife, two boys (12 and 9) and I were wowed at the hotel-received an upgrade and stayed in a suite, which was, well, "sweet".

Very modern, large, and clean rooms and the bathroom was as big as the state room we had on our cruise we were on for the next week!

Pool was very nice as well-I continue to use the word modern, but everything inside and out of this hotel was just that.   While this is a higher end hotel, a lot of guests appeared to be there for the same reason we were and more importantly, the staff was very helpful and welcoming, so the fact that we weren't the ultra hip crowd they likely cater to didn't matter.

The gentleman who took our bag upstairs was very friendly and gave good advice on nearby places to go for lunch and what to avoid in the area-wish I remembered his name now.   The one issue was that we were billed for something we didn't purchase (honor bar), but once their rep returned our call, it was resolved without issue.

Very reasonable rate for a downtown hotel of this type and as with other JW locations, it's the nicest place around that is still relatively affordable.

I stayed here 2/9-2/13/15, our room was on the 34th floor I believe, with a bay view.  Everything about our stay was OUTSTANDING!  From arrival through departure, not one negative thing.  I was a guest of my cousin who was traveling for work, boy did I get lucky.  The room had every amenity, the pool was beautiful, the restaurants and room service, all on point.  If ever I'm in Miami, and decide to stay downtown, this will definitely be where I'll stay!!

My friends and I may as well have been walking to the ballad of Jed Clampett when we trolled into the JW Marquis on a sunny Friday morning.

Our room was straight-up cavernous with two luxuriously spaced king size beds and ceiling-to-floor windows that spanned the entire wall. There was a point where we were comfortably trying out cartwheels around the room.

The bathroom. Bless its soul for what it endured during the weekend that my friends and I were there. The ylang ylang body products were clutch.

Then we had the pool. I'm normally the type of person that likes to limit hotel time to shut-eye and continental breakfast. Not here - I'm pretty sure we maximized any free time at the pool. Located out on the deck of the 19th floor, it was surrounded by sun chairs and a few psuedo cabanas.

There was also a causal basketball court on the same floor... oh and a virtual bowling alley. Full disclosure - apparently you have to rent out both, which was frustrating, but it you have a large group I'm sure that it would be worth it.

In terms of the location, it can get a little complicated if you are driving. The entrance is essentially located on the ramp for the bridge so if you're not paying attention you may miss the turn and end up in Bricknell.

I'm a Hampton Inn devotee (not necessarily by choice) so five points for you, JW!

Stayed at the JW Marriott about a year or so ago, and had one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had in Florida.

Our view was amazing (our room overlooked the water). Room service was prompt and professional. The room was clean and had a bunch of storage space. Bathroom was a bit more dim than I prefer (it always makes a room feel a bit more dirty), but I loved the separate tub and shower. I was surprised at the amount of space the room had. We had a king room, which included a huge desk and enough floor space to do exercises without hitting anything.

Definitely one of the better hotels I've stayed at in Miami!!

This hotel was really great.  On the day we were supposed to check in they experienced some torrential rainstorms and the hotel was flooding.  They (very professionally) escorted guests to the bar to wait until they could allow us to check in.  The bar took car of everyone - they were making drinks, serving food, and allowing for a generally comfortable and pleasant experience for weary travellers.  I don't think they could have handled it better and they won my loyalty out of it.

I rarely give 5 stars for anything but this is well deserved.  I was in Miami for a short period of time on business and so lucky I was able to get a room and good rate at the Marquis.

Check in was easy and smooth and staff was very courteous the entire stay.  The room was spacious, clean, and very modern. Love the darker colors used for the room. Perk was a tv in my bathroom mirror, how fancy is that?

I was there for work and the amenities they have for business people were perfect. Nice big desk with plenty of room to work on without feeling cramped. Felt like it was my home office that was how spacious it was.

Illy coffee machine and brews. Note, read the instructions! I am so used to my Keurig that was not expecting I would have to hit the button again to stop the brew. This option gives the ability to make coffee stronger or lighter though.

After finishing up some work after checking in, I decided to take advantage of the time before dinner and get a workout in.  They have a full gym, which is a great perk! More than just cardio, they have not just weights but a variety of machines to get a full body workout if needed. Plenty of space and very clean and high end equipment to use.  Perk was the fruit infused water and fruit bowl for and after workout snack if needed. Oh and can't forget the cold towels you can use to cool down after a good workout.  

If you like yoga, they have a separate room with a class schedule you can look into as well.

For golfers, they do have a golf center where you can practice your swing before getting on the course!

I also had the pleasure of utilizing their concierge lounge on the 36th floor with my colleagues and they have a great view of the water from up there and a great selection for breakfast.

I would definitely stay here again the next time I have the chance to be in Miami

The hotel is beautiful, rooms are spacious, bathroom are great.

We had an upgraded room with a partial waterfront view.

The hot tub is small and the pool mostly in the shade because of the surrounding high rise buildings.

Location is fantastic, close to everything.

They have a virtual bowling on the 19th floor, it is worth a try, they also have a great basketball court (indoor) and a pool table.

The lounge on the 36th floor is big with good food options and illy cafe.

This is probably one of the best hotel stays we've ever had.

Floor 38. Corner room. Absolutely beautiful stunning view.

Staff and service was bar none.

Valet only parking at $35. But it's Miami, so you roll with it.

The Capital Grill is just right across the bridge. Short walk.

When in Miami, we'll stay here from now on.

Not often I give 5 stars. But man - this is a ridiculously nice hotel. The view, the rooms are large and well done. TV in the bathroom nice. And the concierge has real hot food, no BS Continental breakfast. I didn't make it to the happy hour but I'm sure it was on point too. It was in walking distance to other restaurants too. Definitely on my list to return. Loved it.

Horrible hotel and experience. No working elevators due to rain and 3 toddlers and strollers that caused us to walk down 28 flights of stairs. Also, our bathroom lights do not work and our original hotel (intercontinental) overbooked our rooms which we already paid for. This is after flying all day and finally arriving at 2am.

Absolutely horrible and terrible experience. I expect compensation for this mess.

I am sure the hotel amenities are fine and we had a nice dinner as part of a Gala.   But to wait for an hour for our car & friends car is unacceptable.

Most of or friends waited between 30-40 minutes for their car.  So if your driving your own car, I would avoid this hotel at all costs.

We had a suite on the 37th floor.

Location is fantastic, close to everything.

Great basketball court on the 19th floor.

Concierge lounge on the 36th floor is very nice with breakfast and snacks in the evenings.
