It literally took an hour for the airport shuttle to come pick me up- every other shuttle I saw came and left twice before mine showed up, and then the driver didn't say a word to me the entire ride.  I was a single female traveling alone, and they placed me in the fartchest building so that I had to walk across two parking lots at midnight by myself.  I couldn't connect to the wireless, and they said the maintenance people had left for the night, so nobody could go switch the router on and off for me, and no wall plug in was provided.  Breakfast was a joke- off brand cereal, thawed eggo waffles.  I would not stay here again.

A clean, comfortable, inexpensive room near the airport. The wifi works. The pool is clean. Parking is ample and well-lit. No complaints. It's not as new as La Quinta Airport West, but this location offers the same basic features for about $40 less a night (at today's rates, anyway).

A major plus is proximity to a lot of restaurants. There are the usual fast food outlets (McD, Wendy's, Denny's), but also a strip mall with almost a dozen (!) restaurants a 2 minute walk east of the hotel, including Cuban, South American, Chinese & vegetarian options. I had a couple of very nice meals down there while I was staying at La Quinta. With the money I saved on the room, I felt free to get dessert!

This place is an awesome place to stay if you are going cruising and need to stay the night before your cruise leaves. Why? FREE breakfast, FREE Wi-Fi, FREE shuttle to the dock!!!! The rooms are huge and there are always other cruisers walking in the halls mumbling about their cruise, departure times...
4 stars for all the FREE stuff, yeah!!!

I'm probably not going to stay here again. There's two hotels across the street that cost more and are better places. I got what I paid for here and learned a lesson.

Room 208.

Headed back to SF through MIA and couldn't get on the last flight out, so I would be put on the first morning flight. Pricelined a cheap stay, and this is what came up. I could have cared less since I spent the last 5 nights in a cabin on St. John with mosquitoes and cold showers (not that that was a bad thing!). So I had very few criteria: close to the airport, hot shower, bed.

It was about a fifteen minute drive from the airport. Walked into the room, bed- check, shower-check. Caught a quick whiff of sewage. Not too bothersome, couldn't really locate it. Not worth the hassle of switching rooms.
Got in the shower, a cheap fiberglass tub that kind of buckled under my feet. Didn't really care, just wanted to get clean. As I was standing under the shower, I realized it felt more like a bubble or a wave of water under the tub. Out of curiosity I started rocking the water side to side, all the way to the front of the tub, and then suddenly there was a whoosh of fetid air and scuzzy water pouring out of the seem between the tub and the wall. Well, I successfully located the source of the sewage smell. Sick!
I still decided it wasn't worth a room change. It was late, I was tired, the next room could have been worse, it would take too long, etc.
So I went to bed for a few quick hours of sleep only to be awakened in the middle of the night by strange noises. I lay awake waiting to hear it again so I could figure out what it was. Then I heard it again, a weird burping sound. I then realized it was coming from the bathroom- the toxic waters beneath the tub were building up pressure and releasing through the seem. I just shut the door and went back to bed.

Overall, my stay wasn't bad for the few hours I was there. Beds were fine. Room clean. Staff were nice, though I didn't bother reporting this incident during my stay. Shuttle leaves every hour on the hour. Except, the shuttle left at 5:59 and I arrived in the lobby at 6am. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Luckily the driver took me on a solo run when he returned, so I didn't have to wait until 7am. In the meantime, I ate 2 pieces of raisin toast and bagged 3 bananas from their complimentary breakfast.

Bottom line: It wasn't the worst, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Clean rooms. Very helpful front desk. Didn't like the gauntlet of smokers at the front door.

The only reason I gave 1 star was that it wouldn't let me do ZERO. Easily the nastiest motel I have ever layed my head down in. Just filthy. From the lobby to the smelly bathroom, it was a fleabag spot. Hard to imagine how a national chain would condone such manner. Spend the extra and stay where you can rest without worrying about roaches crawling in your bags.

This hotel is O.K. I feel it's way over priced for what it is. It's a simple hotel basic stuff nothing fancy. It is very close to food and highways. Front desk is helpful. Be FAIR WARNED the toilets do not flush very well. Your poo will remain unless you flush 3 or more times. It's a good hotel if your here for a layover or something. I stayed for 2 days as a business trip. Would stay again if price was lower.

I was pleased with this location.  I have stayed at La Quinta before and have as a general rule always been pleased.  Usually a decent value for the money spent.  However, this location stood out.  Close to the Miami International Airport and they run a free shuttle on a regular basis.  I was there before check-in time and they didn't charge me an early fee, were very helpful and let me just hang out till a room was ready for me.  The staff was VERY nice.  They had great vending machines that had not just sodas and snacks but basic essentials for luggage and electronics.  Free Wifi, good signal strength (except by the pool).  The TV was large and up to date.  Good breakfast.  The worst problem was that there wasn't enough space to accomodate everyone during breakfast.  But I would def. stay there anytime I visit Miami again.

I guess you get what you pay for, in that area apparently all hotels are more expensive then usual. The staff seemed to be pleasant and the security officers were very nice but the property could use some renovations... There is no BBQ grill anywhere on the property which I found as a disappointment. The one good thing is that there are plenty of food spots and some after hours entertainment near by. No refrigerator in the rooms!! They said that they would bring one to our room but never did. I will not be returning to this hotel. Oh the wifi could have been better... actually it kinda sucked.. oh beware of the toilets!! you might have to employment the secondary flush

Room 236, in case the management cares, although clearly they don't. (See  Carnley P's review of room 208, written in 2010.)

Four years ago, Carnley's review said that the fiberglass tub "kind of buckled" under her feet. She discovered that there was water UNDER the tub, that by rocking from side to side it could be sloshed.

Two differences between Carnley and me:
(1) I didn't accidentally slosh the water unto it oozed out:
(2) I am not generously rating this hotel with two stars. (It gets one because that is the minimum Yelp allows.)

The La Quinta chain does not aspire to be a high-end (or even moderate-end) facility. It's modest, and usually quite acceptable. You get what you pay for: a clean room and bathroom, moderately comfortable beds and room temperature, and a shuttle to the airport.

No one who reads review sites should be surprised about the chain's breakfast offerings. You don't choose La Quinta for the sumptuous food. (That's why you go to the airport Starbucks!)

The La Quinta Miami North is very close to the airport, and runs a 24-hour shuttle. But there are lots of other hotels to choose from; this place does not deserve your business. It is overpriced, noisy, and unsanitary.

If you can't find better, and you must stay at this hotel, do NOT accept rooms 136 or 108, the ones under the squishy tubs.

Way over priced for what it has.

They say free wifi yet the wifi will connect but not work.

Fridge and microwave
We had to be placed on a wait list  and were told that they had a total of 5 fridges and microwaves (IN THE ENTIRE HOTEL) they just wait till one person is done with it and then move it to another room that is on the list.

I usually don't give bad ratings but I have been in motels that were a lot better with similar pricing .

I was trying to give this place a chance but then having ants crawl over my face while I sleep definitely ruined it for me.

Upon arrival the room looks decent and clean. Linen was not clean though ( I found out before going to bed) there was lipstick and makeup on the sheets.

Also the room service is terrible. They skip rooms and half ass the cleaning.

The rooms are Not too impressive. But be careful with all the "amenities" listed because literally the only thing accurate in the listing is the TV.

I travel a lot!!! And have been to many hotels I have 2 huskies so la Quinta is my #1 since they have always been dog friendly.
However this by far is the worst one I have ever stayed in.

I'm tremendously disappointed and seriously recommend whoever is reading this to stay in another hotel. At least another la Quinta. You can definitely get a better hotel for the same price.

Stayed because I get a discount for work and felt no need to spend $ on an expensive South Beach hotel that I'll barely see the inside of.

It's a basic room. But you get your basic essentials. A (big) comfy bed, clean shower and AC that pumps.

The tv was very updated and had some of the best channels I've had in a hotel.

My only complaint is the breakfast hours. The space is wayyyyy too small to accommodate the guests. (The hotel is big).   And also the only have bread, waffles and cereal. The juice was great. Coffee tasted watery.

The hotel is located between PLENTY of food options however and the highway is accessible within a 2 minute drive.

I'd definitely stay again.
