Not sure how or why the last reveiwer gave 5 stars. This place is FAR from it! We arrived here and the front desk guy was on the phone yapping away while there was an ever growing line. There was only one guy tending the front desk and they phone. They gave us the wrong room and wouldn't correct the situation since we already walked into the room and now it was technically "used". There is one computer in the lobby which is fine and they have wifi which is incredibly slow. Of course there was an older man on the computer who didnt want to get off. Instead of waiting on him I decided to pack my bags in my room and call down to the front desk to check if the computer was free. When I called the front desk lady (not exactly english savy) tells me the computer is free. I stop packing and come downstairs to print my itenerary and the same guy is still there! What computer was she looking at? No idea!

Room service stinks! There are never enough towels and they dont clean right. The spilled water on the sink from the morning was still there at night when room service had already "cleaned" the rooms.

I have stayed at a lot of hotels and have NEVER felt compelled to write a review like this because I have never experienced worse service. Trust me it might seem like a good price to pay but its better to pay a few bucks to avoid this nightmare of a hotel!

This was a great place to stay for the night. I had reservations at another hotel for the weekend but ended up coming to Miami a day early. This hotel was everything I needed it to be. The bed was very comfortable, shower worked great, and it was more than enough space for three women. The parking lot seemed to get pretty full late at night, but we had no problem finding a spot, just lots of cars parked. The front desk was very friendly and seemed helpful. My room cost a little over $100 with taxes, and that included two queen beds. I suppose that's not bad for the area, but it still seemed a tad pricey to me. The hallway was a little smelly, but other than that I have nothing bad to say about this place. Very close location to the airport and overall a nice stay. I would definitely stay again if I was in the area!

Front desk greeter was awesome and gave us some place to go to get some lunch, (Latin Cafe) had great Cuban food and not far. So thank you Betty for your info. Room clean, very helpful staff. Would use this hotel again.

The hotel itself is pretty nice and the staff was excellent.  The location?  Well, it's right by the airport and is really, really loud.  It's also really hard to find.  Not much in the immediate area but if you can drive 5 or 10 minutes, there are some restaurants and shopping.  We were only there for one night so I can't really say for sure what all is convenient.  We stayed there the night before our cruise and it was fine.  We had rented a king suite for the 3 of us.  It had a pullout couch that was broken, unfortunately.  As we were preparing for our cruise, we had stuff spread out all over the place and while they offered us another room, it would have been even more inconvenient to move.  They didn't have a rollaway bed available.  We got a bunch of pillows to stuff under the mattress and just made do.  I had used a combination of LQ points and cash and they did refund the portion I paid in cash, along with some extra LQ reward points, so all was good.  They were extremely apologetic and tried very hard to make it right.

Other than that, the room was clean and well-appointed and breakfast was pretty good.  I would consider staying there again if we're ever in the neighborhood.

Hotel Review
We arrived in the wee hours (i.e. after midnight) as a layover before heading over to St. Lucia in the morning. This was a bargain price compared to the other hotels around this area as it included a free continental breakfast and is nice a clean. The hotel is great for travelers that are coming for a short or long stay. Upon entering, we were greeted by the friendly front desk who was courteous and helpful. Check-in was a breeze. The room was quite spacious and well light. Also the most important is that the room was pristine and clean. Bathroom was average size, with the sink outside of the room. Our toothbrush and toothpaste were still in our luggage at the airport; but the front desk was nice enough to provide complimentary items. Of note, there is satellite TV and free WIFI. In the morning, we enjoyed a well stocked continental breakfast with hot waffle maker, cereal, milk, bread/bagels, and more. The free shuttle to the airport is a plus and runs on the 1/2 hour and 1 hour. There is also a shuttle to the port of miami that you need to schedule with the desk.

Pros- Very clean, bargain price, lots of amenities, top notch service, free breakfast, free shuttle to and from the airport

Cons- as noted on other travel sites, it is located over the path of planes taking off so you can hear them in the AM, but at night we did not hear any noise over the AC

Hidden deals
1. Free high speed WIFI
2. Free continental breakfast (bagels, make your own waffle, toast, coffee, cereal, milk, yogurt, juice, etc.)
3. Free shuttle to and from the airport and port of Miami

What a mistake! Got a room here because its close to the airport. Have an early flight  out. Dirty dusty rooms. TV remote will not work and TV will not turn on manually. Can't wait to get out of here.

Not the newest La Quinta we have stayed at... But, the place is clean, the beds are comfy and the staff is excellent!

The breakfast area is small, so the earlier down there the better. (at least on a Saturday morning)

Not secure. The side door has a sign that says it's locked 24 hours a day and you need a key to get in. It's not and you don't. The door wasn't closed when we walked in and didn't close behind us. The lock appeared broken. Later in the evening, we looked up and realized there were a bunch of flyers on the floor that had been slid under the door. There's no question as to how they got in.

Other than that and staff that have personal conversations while you're waiting to ask a question, and a line is forming behind you, it does the job. If the price was the same at the Embassy Suites, I would have headed over there.

Stayed here overnight on way to a cruise.    Rooms are clean, but run down.  Standard, carb based breakfast offering.  Very noisy from airplane take-offs, so if you are a light sleeper or have a baby, do not stay here!  The A/C unit in my room was also noisy, and barely kept up with the days heat.  Shuttle service to cruise is good.

Staff is super friendly! It is an older la quinta but the staff makes up for it! The AC was out in the lobby when I stayed there but it is now up and working :)

If I could I would give them Zero stars. It was hard to find even with a GPS. The room smelled like chemicals. The carpet was sticky and one bed had crumbs all over the bedding. The TV didn't work at all.  The front desk was short handed. They had to move us to another room because of the TV but the only other thing that was better was there were no crumbs on the bed.

I read about all the other reviews and I disagree.  I'm sure they can't help the construction and the negative ones were a year ago.  Maybe they learned from their mistakes.   We are only here one night,  Went next door to eat and it was great!  They do not provide conditioner (It's a 2-in-1 deal) I saw an employee in the hallway and she explained how they did not carry conditioner.  I think she saw my "mophead" and vigorously looked for conditioner.  She asked for my room number and said that if she found some she would bring it up.  Before I even got to my room, there was a different cheerful girl with a handful of conditioners for me!   My stay was fine by me.

Please don't stay here not good for your health!  The hotel and my room smell super bad. Found 2  cockroaches in the bathroom.  The floor in the bathroom with dirty and had hair everywhere. The carpet had a lot of stains and wasn't even vacuumed. Just nasty.

Hell no. Piss in the tub. Cockroaches on the bed and stained sheets. Just way to nasty.

I am giving this place 3 stars, because Yelp would not allow me to give it a half star less. Like many of the previous reviews, this is an OK place to spend 1 night. I would not (could not) spend a second night. I keep expecting a plane to miss the runway and end up in my bed. We are really close to the airport, and there is a lot of noise!!

My room is clean, as best as I can tell. I didn't give it a Hotel Impossible type of inspection! :)

We got a great rate of $115 inclusive of tax and fees. This includes 7 nights of parking while we are on a cruise, as well as a free shuttle to the port. We have to pay our own way back to the hotel when we get back (but that's ok). There are not a lot of frills (namely coffee in the lobby). there is a pool out back that looked pretty clean... But I would hate to swim out there with the planes flying so close over head....not relaxing.

There is a Bennigans next door, but that's about it if you are walking. There are many options a short drive away.

If you factor in the cost of parking and shuttle service....the LaQuinta is a pretty good value. I just can't help shake the feeling I am slumming it for the night. My only focus right now,is getting on the ship in the morning!

This place is a shit hole. First off you have to drive though a full on construction site to even get to the entrance. The front desk staff is nothing short of incredibly rude. The rooms are damp and muggy, and are in need of some serious updating. AGAIN EVERYTHING IS STICKY. There is nothing close to the hotel that delivers (that isn't an incredibly sketchy seeming Cuban joint with terrible reviews). We asked for change for the vending machine at the front desk since we had such trouble finding food, and the receptionist was inconvenienced by the request. We asked before booking about the shuttle to the port and were told you can't book ahead of time, but when we got here we were told that the shuttle at the time we needed was full?? If you are looking for cheap and are willing to sacrifice food and making it onto your cruise ship on time: this is the place. If you are looking for somewhere that is clean, doesn't smell, in a nice neighborhood and near food: do not stay here.

Update: the ceiling is moldy.

Sufficient place to stay. Rooms were adequate. Our group checked in without any problem, although traffic getting here was horrendous. The construction didn't help matters any. It is right in the flight path too, so be prepared. Once we finally found the place we didn't want to leave because we were afraid we'd never get back!

The room appeared clean and the beds comfortable enough. Staff was efficient but I wouldn't say friendly. This review is kind of a boring review because this hotel was kind of boring. If you are looking for a solidly "ok" and "adequate" hotel you've found it.
