    I stayed at this place for a conference I attended in 2005.  Great!  
    Especially wonderful when compared to the other hotel I moved to on South Beach after my conference was over...if I can remember the name of the place, I shall be writing a negative review of that place.
    We even got a recommendation for good local Cuban restaurant from the front desk staff when we asked...La Carreta...I just gotta find the right location for that place to review too.

    Walking distance to Dadeland Mall.

    I like this specific hotel and the fact that it is literally next door to another Marriott hotel which is a Marriott Court Yard.

    There may or may not be better Marriott hotels in this particular region of the city of Miami, but to my current knowledge I simply do not know.

    3.5 stars. I just stayed here for about a week. I like the location - down the street is the Dadeland Mall, and around the corner is a Publix grocery store. Behind the hotel is the train and also a great little French bakery called Atelier Monnier (definitely check it out). There's also quite a few restaurants (Havana Spice Cafe, El Sitio, etc) within walking distance.

    There's only valet parking available (no street parking either). Drinks at the bar are pretty pricey. Quite a few options available for their buffet breakfast - probably should stay away from the hotel restaurant for dinner though.

    Friendly staff. Comfortable beds and rooms - only thing I didn't like about the rooms is that the sink is outside of the bathroom which I always think is strange. Free 24 hour business center. Outdoor pool.  Free in-room wi-fi.

    Another thing is: I'm not sure if the hotel screwed up or if the person who booked my travel arrangements screwed up but I requested a king sized bed, and ended up with 2 double beds for just me...

    I just  stayed at this hotel, and I had a great experience. Great customer service, super clean and comfortable rooms. Let me tell you that bed was just dreamy. Probably the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. It sure made waking up every morning very hard. You have to use valet parking, but the guys at valet parking are always helpful and fast. The Marriott offers a breakfast buffet, it was not the best and a little pricey. If anything the only thing I was not happy about.  The hotel is located just walking distance from the Dadeland Mall and within 15 to 20 minutes of South Beach. I also liked that it was only a 20 minute drive to the beaches in Key Biscayne (Crandon Park).  I definitely recommend this hotel.

    Front desk staff is unhelpful and downright rude. Gave us a real hard time for booking through hotels.com . Tried to make us take a more expensive room. Now at 5pm they are telling us we can't check in yet because the room has not been cleaned.

    Great location. Close to lots of shopping and restaurants plus easy to get to. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years, but  was surprised to see how bad the carpets had gotten. The bed was very comfy but the on and of of the a/c kept waking me. When it was off I was kicking off the big duvet and when it was on I was pulling it up to my neck to keep warm. Each morning when I went to leave there was at least a five minute wait for the elevator down. It looked as though only one was in operation. When it finally came it was too full for both me and the other gentleman waiting to get on. If you stay at this hotel and need to be some where on time plan for this delay. The staff was friendly the room was clean, but I had to grope to find a light when I entered.

    We were here for a business meeting. Good food and a nice pool. We did drive to south beach, but it was a bit of a drive. The staff was great. I liked it.

    The Worst Hotel We have Ever Stayed At......

    Checked in on Oct. 11th for one night to attend a family wedding. From check in to check out it was disastrous.

    1.) Arrived hotel 1 PM. We wanted to all have a drink and lunch. Was told even though this is supposedly a full service Marriott that because they are a corporate hotel the restaurant and bar would not be opened until later in the afternoon. Unable to get anything.

    2.) The room upon check in had not been properly serviced. Had to walk down the hall to a maid cart and help myself to towels.

    3.) Valet parking only and they were terribly inefficient. They were not crowded but had to wait over 25 minutes for my car.

    4.) Staff is not properly trained in customer service. No eye contact, attitude was "We Could Not Care Less"

    5.) Received correct folio under my door at checkout. Once home the amount when checking my Credit card statement on line I notice amount is changed and an added extra parking charge on my bill. We were charged twice for parking. Called accounting dept, at hotel twice, voice mail, left message, never called me back. Finally after not hearing for three days I had to call Marriott Corporate to get the issued resolved.

    6.) I had left an item in the room and called the hotel to get it back. They sent forms to fill out for authorization which is fine. I did, completed and sent them back. Heard nothing for two days. Called the hotel, was told they got the form I filled out authorizing them to charge my credit card to mail it back to me but said they would not unless I sent them a photo copy of my drivers license or passport. I questioned it as CC authorization they sent me had my signature and CC on it, plus the same card was used to charge my room when we were there. It is illegal in some states (not sure about Florida) to copy a Drivers license of passport. Long story short I was told, by the VERY rude "At Your Service" person that it was hotel policy and if I wanted my stuff I would have to comply because the hotel was having a lot of problems with credit card theft.

    Obviously the hotel has issues which I am sure lead to the General Manager. Whomever he/she is they should by demoted.  I spoke with the Executive Assistant Norma Guzman, who finally resolved the issued, realized THEIR mistake... however this was after they made me feel like I was trying to scam them  and several days and for the parking refund it ended up costing me more of my professional time dealing with this matter.....   Obviously they don't seem to care about making the customer have an enjoyable experience.

    I don't think I have been treated more rudely than when I have dealt with the front desk staff at the "Deadland" Marriott. A group of my business colleagues and I used to meet here weekly, but after many rude instances and raising prices for a crap-quality breakfast & meeting space, we moved somewhere else.

    Here's a perfect example: after arriving early for my weekly meeting, I was trying to connect to the wifi reserved for the meeting rooms so I could finish a report. The staff had given me the wifi password in the past, but this time, they refused over the phone, asking me to go to the front desk instead. When I asked the clerk at the front desk about the wifi, the manager behind her asked,  "Are you part of the group that meets here every week?" I responded "Yes, ma'am," to which she dismissed me with a gesture of her hand and said "Oh, you have to pay for that."

    Now to be clear, I had no idea that wifi was extra and not already included in our weekly agreement. That's fair though: if it's extra, no problem. What I do have a problem with is a rude manager with zero customer service skills. She was dismissive, cynical, and uninterested in helping a customer whose group paid the hotel $450-500 weekly for two years. If you are a hospitality professional, shouldn't you be NICE ?!

    Their catered breakfast is very bad. You'd be better off eating at Denny's. The Dadeland Marriott thinks they are a five-star facility when in reality they're a three star facility with meeting space. If you are a business professional hosting a meeting, use one of the Gables hotels instead. They are much nicer, friendlier, and more reasonably priced (can you believe the "Deadland Marriott" is more expensive than the full service hotels in Coral Gables?!?!)

    Stay away. You'll be glad you did.

    I stayed here last week and thought the hotel was really nice, definitely all the things I've come to expect from a Marriott.

    My only complaints would be:
    1. Valet parking is your only option (takes a while to get your car back)
    2. Room service was a little over-price
    3. Bed was WAY too soft - although I'm sure a lot of people like that :)

    Decent place. I recommend checking out the nearby restaurants. Rooms should be upgraded. Easy access to Dadeland mall and downtown Miami using the metro rail.

    The hotel is clean and conveniently located to shopping and the MetroRail.  Beyond that I think that is all I can say nice about it.  The hotel has no suites (that's what I was told, and I don't see that as an option when looking for a room), and so the only Elite upgrades are to be put onto the Concierge floor.

    I have stayed here 3 or 4 times in the last year, and was upgraded once even though I am a Platinum Elite member.  This hotel follows the rule of "availability at the time of check-in" which means that there is no one in the hotel who actually cares enough about keeping my business to block out a nice room the day before or even the morning before I arrive.  And so my response is to avoid this hotel unless it is the only choice in Miami.  There are plenty of Marriott branded hotels in Miami who will notice I have a confirmed reservation and will block out an upgrade for me the day before.

    This hotel was great for a business stay.  No thrills, but it has a bar/restaurant downstairs and a mall with many restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Overall the hotel was clean and the staff provided great service.

    The hotel location is conveniently located near many restaurants and stores and the Dadeland Mall. Nearby in walking distance they have Lime, Panera World of Beer, Yoga Studio, Publix, Trader Joes, and mall that has several eating options.

    Check in has a tendency to be slow but they have the mobile check in option that I haven't tried yet. Parking is valet only. Give yourself plenty of time to call for the car because it can take awhile.

    The beds tend to be on the soft side and large pillows. I personally don't like their pillows because I feel like they are too high and hurts my neck.

    Elevator can be slow so give yourself enough time. Morning and afternoons can be congested.  Hotel has a bar but I have not been there yet.

    Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. The concierge lounge is on the 23rd floor with plenty of refreshments and snacks during happy happy and a decent spread of oatmeal, cereal, bakery products, eggs, and fruit and more for breakfast.

    My last review was based on my dining and event experiences, this review is now based on my stay. I frequently go to events at this hotel but I had never stayed. This weekend I was attending a party with an open bar, so rather then being the designated driver, my husband and I decided to stay here and I am so glad we did!

    We stayed on the concierge floor which was very nice! The rooms were very comfortable. The room was spacious, our bed was extremely comfy, the air conditioning was silent and cooled quickly and our view of downtown Dadeland was nice!  The only thing that needs some sprucing was the bathroom. It was pretty small and seemed a little dated.

    Great thing about staying on the concierge floor is the continental breakfast - which was a huge value! Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast pastries, juice, coffee and more! The attendant was really sweet and all the food was freshly made!

    Pool area was peaceful and had a great view!

    Next time I attend an event at this hotel, we are staying again!

    Not a bad location, Dadeland mall is steps away, there are several restaurants there and on Dixie Hwy 1, and I enjoyed visits to World of Beer and Pasion del Cielo Coffee Cafe, nearby.

    Rooms here are a bit dated, and definitely in need of an upgrade in 2-3 years.

    Main lobby, lounge, and bar areas are upgraded, with many places for small groups to hang in the bar area. Staff is helpful.

    The Compulsory Valet Service Attendants Will Steal From Your Car. Guaranteed. And the Hotel's "Lost Property Prevention" Unit Won't Do Anything About It.

    The Valet guys stole my (expensive looking) $20 sunglasses as well as some spare change I had in the car.

    Is there a negative zero rating? What was supposed to be a celebratory evening for my husband and I turned out to be a complete disaster. Our room air conditioning unit was malfunctioning and when we phoned the Front Desk to correct it, they wanted to send an engineer at 1AM. We asked them to please move us and they agreed. 30 minutes passed and we heard from no one and made our way downstairs. It was not until were in their presence that they decided to make the arrangements! It was already after 2am! We left and the hotel Management refused to make things right. Hotel Manager only offered us a credit of $30 for our troubles.

    Thanks for showing us that you truly do not value your guests! Not the caliber of Marriott property that we are accustomed to either. The room was old and dingy.

    We normally stay at their sister property - the Courtyard, right next door - however that hotel has gone downhill pretty fast in one year.  We visit Miami 1-2 times a year and always stay in this area, as it is walking distance to my husband's grandparents.

    We decided to stay at the Marriott vs. Courtyard because it's still close to Publix (gotta have my Cuban coffee fix daily and array of tapas for breakfast).  The customer service is the number reason we will be back.  The rooms are a tad dated, but were maintained nicely.  We had no issues asking for a fridge for the room and a crib / play yard for our baby.

    Valet is pricey, but with that, they always had our car ready for us.
