Let's be real. This place is a crackhouse. Avoid it like the plauge. $150 for one night? I might have been more comfortable sleeping in the gutter. I know we were there for WMC, but really anyone should expect more from Downtown Miami.

Why do I do this to myself? I had to be cheap and we suffered here. Its grimy, super sketch, and the area sucks for food. The front desk was nice and its an upgrade from a hostel but not far. It's not awful, we survived, but I might upgrade to a $120/night hotel.

    Dear Lord,

If this place is still open, I hope the CDC has taken it over and started preparing vaccinations.

PS Sheer proof that you get what you pay for...

If anyone suggests this place - run! It is a run down dump that should be demolished or at least condemned by the building department. It hasn't seen an update in 30 years or more. I'd give it 0 stars but can't.

While I would not recommend this hotel for honeymooners, it is the perfect place if you just need an affordable place to crash and only the basic amenities. I too was afraid based on the reviews of the place, but I successfully stayed four nights and have absolutely nothing to complain about. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the Miami area and need only somewhere to rest your head. Friendly staff, great location, and it saves you money.

Enough of the reviews on Kayak said this place was okay, and I wasn't a Yelp user yet, so we got fooled into reserving a room here.

The area of town is questionable at best, and some shady dude tried to charge me to "watch my car" when I parked.  We checked in, and went upstairs to our room, and Jesus Christ... the place was terrifying.  It looked like a place where you get raped, not a place where you spend a pleasant night.  And I am NOT a picky person about this kind of thing.

Since one of our number was female, and we also wanted to be able to leave our stuff in the room to be tourists without worrying about whether it'd still be there when we got back, we immediately went down to the front desk and informed them we wouldn't be staying there, and requested a refund.  They would not give us a refund, no matter how much I stressed that we did not feel safe in that hotel.

The words I have for these people I cannot use on Yelp.  This place is scummier than a tobacco lobbyist being pulled out of the bottom of New York Harbor.

    Never stay here.

Yes, all the reviews above are true! This is a place where you take a hooker and nothing else!

I live in Miami and needed to crash for the night because of a project I was working on at Wells Fargo nearby. I wanted some place cheap and close because I knew I only needed a room for sleep. I found the Miami Sun Hotel online and was within my budget.

When I arrived I decided to see if I could check in early so I could head off to work ASAP! The first impression I got when I walked in was, "Good God"!! Black guys right out of a Jay-Z video lingering in the lobby and a front desk clerk that appeared to look like she might moonlight as an Asian masseuse.

Good thing I'm a guy and only needed a bed, otherwise I would have been right out the door in 3 seconds flat!!!

Run away! Seriously. This is the seediest hotel I've ever stayed at, and I am a connoisseur of cheap motels, haha. :) Spend a few more bucks and stay elsewhere. And if you don't, well then, you'll see! The front desk staff is friendly enough, and the location is convenient to downtown, but that's all this place has going for it.  We stayed 2 nights here, and the only reason we didn't run for the hills upon arriving is because we couldn't afford to lose the money. As it turned out, we felt reasonably safe once the initial shock of the place wore off. But I never would have stayed at this place alone. It is scary looking, noisy, and really crappy. And perhaps the worst thing of all was that they were doing renovations in the room right next to ours. They pounded away and talked and made all kinds of noises from early morning till 7:30 at night. Eek! In their defense, the employees we encountered were friendly, and the room's cleanliness wasn't as bad as one might expect, judging everything else. But, really, don't bother with this place. P.S. No parking

Words cannot DESCRIBE how disgusting this place is!!! I won't even go into detail, but let's just say within 30 mins of arriving, we switched to Beach Place Hotel across the street from the beach and right by S Beach for like $100 a night instead. Yes, it was THAT bad. Don't even try and make this place ok!! It will be a waste of your time and money.

It is definitely what you pay for, but I loved staying here! I got to save a load of money which was used to party. :)

If you don't mind staying in a hostel then you won't mind this place.  I went to Miami to party and get wasted every night.... not to sit in a hotel room.

We went on a band cruise, and it just so happened that there were a bunch of people from our cruise staying there, which made it like a little mini party.  :)

... I do recommend bringing your own sheets and pillow tho...

Nothing ii safe about this hotel; the location, the parking, the entrance way. It all started at the front door...no door handle, that should have told me everything. The place needed to be cleaned...the elevator is slow as hell and the inside of the elevator smelled terrible. The room I had as a basically crap and it was not worth the $80 I paid. There were always thugs hanging around the front entrance and they were just looking for an easy mark. Very, very bad place...

Just hit the back arrow and forget you ever searched this hotel...go ahead, just hit the back arrow right now.... fine, I tried to warn you!  Unless you are going to be with someone you hate or want to ruin a perfectly good vacation, please heed my warning and do not stay here!!!!!  I have never written a Yelp review, but it's  soooooo bad I felt compelled to inform my fellow man about this pathetic excuse of a hotel!  This hotel just needs to be demolished and rebuilt.  The owners tried to remodel but failed miserably!  Everywhere I look there are problems- too many to mention them all- but some lowlights:  the bathroom door that looks like a rodent gnawed the bottom corner off, the teeny tiny shower stall that you can't move in, and the ceiling that looks like it is going to collapse!  I really feared for my safety at this place- I prayed the building didn't crumble with me in it.  Ugh- this is such a disgusting place!  I would say the only positive is that it is clean and the employees are friendly and helpful.  I feel so bad for them- I want to tell them to take their work ethic and positive attitude to a "real" hotel where they can have some pride in where they work. Please do not stay here!!!!!!

This is the worst hotel ever. I am in town for a graduation and every hotel in the city was booked. The hotel was a last minute desperate decision. For $110 +tax( which I was told was 13%) and a $5 key fee, I got a rundown room with a dirty refrigerator and missing light fixtures and taped doors. There are no amenities and it smells dank and moldy. The bathroom......... The halls smelled like marijuana and it filled our room. Definitely DO NOT STAY HERE. I feel like I need to be quarantined.

This place was pretty disgusting I would expect much better for the price. The rooms were dirty and small and the water barely worked. Old TV's with a few channels. Central location in Miami but the price for this room should have been much less.

Even if it's the last place on earth DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE ! Never seen anything this bad in a place like Miami . In the desperation of extending my stay and unavailability of options during the holiday season , I chose to stay here  and was disgusted by the management , the people and the condition (shitty rooms and non working elevators )of this so-called hotel! In the emergency of having to leave town , I asked for a refund and they twist you in the legalities of non -refundable policies !

For the lack of anything less than 1 , I give it a single star . Please take this word of advice and chose wisely .

    WORST EVER !!!!!

I really really don't recommend and I am very disappointed with everything in this hotel. Room is dirty & expensive. Service is too bad, staff are disrespectful once you pay for the rooms. Sorry, but i will never come back to this hotel ever again.

This place is the WORST and I don't recommend to anyone who wants a place clean and safe.
That being said: it holds a place in my heart and I love getting the same room.
    The familiar cheap cleaner smell...
    The sticky door.
    The broken window and furniture.
I love you, sun. Don't ever try to change because you can't even if you DO Reno. Walls hold energy and the energy of all the hookers and dealers can't be painted away.
