Ironically, the staff was the only saving grace of this hotel.  My new hubby and I missed our connecting flight on our way back to Boston from our honeymoon, due to the incompetency of American Airlines (will review them later).  We were put up by said airline in this hotel. We checked in sometime before midnight and after traveling all day, I was hoping the accommodations would be decent as all I wanted to do was shower and sleep.  My brother texted me jokingly that my husband and I could have a mini second honeymoon.  Once we opened the room, I knew that wasn't going to happen. Funny enough, we went from a Sandals Regency to this Regency.  Suffice it to say, I was scared to step into the bathtub without flip flops and I felt itchy just sleeping in the bed.  The place was not necessarily dirty, just falling apart and not appealing after having stayed in the Caribbean.  As Larissa said, the room is also really dim . . . none of the lamps worked properly and there was a gross white film on the face of the alarm clock.  The AA rep told us it was a nice hotel.  Shame on me for believing her!  I hope we never get stuck here again!

Staff could be a little more friendly, the rooms could be quieter (I could hear the dance club from the 5th floor), the work out room could be larger but for the money and convenience this was a great hotel. I was really impressed with the lobby. The food was good and I really appreciated the free shuttles for the aiport and the port. I slept well and felt comfortable.

After getting bumped off American Airlines several times in one day, they finally gave us a discount voucher for $69.00 per night to stay at the Airport Regency. The three of us waited, with two other people, over 45 minutes for the Regency's shuttle to pick us up. As we waited we saw shuttles from other hotels go by at least five times. As soon as the the van pulled up it was like a scene from The Night of the Living Dead. People appeared from nowhere to get on the shuttle and were banging on the door to get in. As we drove by different terminals people were rushing the van trying to get on! When we arrived we noticed the lighted sign on the hotel had a few letters unlit which read "Airpor engncy otel" This was a bad omen!! Like many others we were impressed at the lobby. The staff was dressed impeccably so we thought it may not be so bad. Check in was easy and even though it was 11:00PM the restaurant was still open. They said there was no room service (even though the hotel directory said it was available) so we ordered our meal and brought it to our room. So far so good. Our room looked "ok" when we first walked in but as we got settled we realized how filthy it was! There was black hair all over the bathroom and the toilet seat was stained yellow. We only had two, rough, thin, towels and one washcloth. Since we didn't pack some of our toiletries on our carry on (stupid me!) we asked if they had any and of course they didn't. The blankets were pilled and had thin areas where you could see through them. As for the bedspread, we didn't even want to touch it! We needed to get up at 5:00 AM to catch the shuttle and called to get a wake up call. We tried for the next hour and no one ever picked up! Yes, there was an alarm clock but since major thunderstorms were going on we were worried about the power going off. In the morning the shuttle filled up quickly so the driver decided to retrieve the "bus" shuttle instead of using the small the van. He said he's be back in ten minutes and drove off. After 45 minutes he finally came back! We all piled on and people were standing, sitting on laps, standing on the stairs etc. Very unsafe. Oh, and by the way...since the shuttle was so late, we missed our flight! Thanks American Airlines for putting us up in the Airport Regency! It's an experience we'll never forget but wish we could!! We'll be dealing with American Airlines also.

Only use this hotel in case of emergency with extreme caution :). Not the best place if you plan to recover and need an overnight stay.

This place is NASTY!
Got stuck here because American Airlines putStheir overnight passengers here when the airline screws up. DON'T LET THEM - demand a name brand hotel. Don't be confused by the name Regency - this is NOT the Hyatt. This is a roach infested hotel IS SO NASTY MY WIFE refused to sleep with all clothes on for fear of bed bugs. I did too - and had a terrible nights sleep. Saw the roaches - and feared the hidden bed bugs. Have a photo of the mattress - friggen nasty - something they should have thrown away years ago. The corner looked burned and seams split - who knows what is living in there. Baby roaches on the walls - room conditioner from the '70's squealing all night long - and this was an upgrade after I complained about the first room when the headboard fell off the wall and sent the roaches running.
AVOID THE REGENCY AT ALL COST - EVEN IF IT IS FREE - YOU WILL SLEEP BETTER FOR IT.

My brother in law and his Cuban musical band is staying here at the present time. I went to visit them on Friday afternoon, with one of my kids, and we ended up hanging by the pool and having a beer. I was really surprised by this place. Not that I would recommend it for a getaway within Miami, but if your looking for a cheap hotel that's centrally located to the airport, and pretty much everything else - not so bad. The staff was pretty helpful and nice, bar - not too bad, and the pool area is pretty updated for and Airport Regency. The rooms were spacious, and I really can't comment on the beds, b/c I didn't check them out. Parking was a breeze, and there's also a little club/bar within the hotel called 'Le Club'. They held the first concert of the band and despite it being pretty small, it did its job :)

I stayed here for one night with my husband before going to the airport for our honeymoon. After the wedding we were absolutely famished and exhausted. Our flight was leaving early the next morning so we just needed a place close to the airport to crash. I didn't get to eat much at our reception so we decided to dine at the restaurant at the regency. The food was delicious. I had blackened dolphin with mashed potatoes. The service was absolutely fantastic. The waiter checked up on us frequently. Asked if we wanted more bread with our meal. It was great. An overall great dining experience. Since my husband and I are from Miami we felt comfortable that the bell hops were wearing guayaberas and that some staff, not all, spoke spanish. The hotel was extremely clean. Living in Miami, it's 50/50 with the odds of finding a clean place. Our over population doesn't really suit many people's styles. Reading some previous reviews some people who stayed here said the rooms were filthy and the staff was rude. I didn't get that impression at all. Maybe because I walked in expecting the worst and was actually generally surprised. The staff was very attentive to our needs and quick to serve us. The rooms were clean. Fresh bed sheets. Clean bathrooms. I just think many people are used to mass production franchised hotels and these mom and pop places are never given a chance. If you have that mind set. And you understand fully that this isn't a franchise you understand that these people are trying their hardest to compete with the rest. I love mom and pop places, personally. My husband and I are foodies. We like quality not quantity. And if you are like us you'll love this place.

I had a terrible experience. The service is absolutely awful. The staff at the help desk are rude and don't help find solutions to your problems. I was having trouble sleeping because their neighbor 'catch of the day' plays very very loud music until 1230 every night. When I asked the front desk to talk to COTD to turn the music down they told me to go talk to them myself and offered no solution. I've never been treated so badly as a paying customer.

Horrible place to stay! We paid $157 per night and we didn't expect ugly rooms with uncomfortable beds and outdated bathrooms!  For 157 we could have stayed in a much nicer hotel around the area.  They also refused to give us vouchers for the continental breakfast!  This is definitely one if not the worst hotel that I've ever stayed at.  Stick with a comfort inn or holiday inn for economical options.  Shuttle service from and to the airport is the horrible as well.  We waited at the curbside for a good 30 plus minutes while other hotel shuttles kept passing by every 5 mins.  The only good thing I can say is that they have wifi.  But other cheaper hotels around the area offer wifi, free breakfast etc

This place is disgusting. The rooms are dirty and they have bed bugs. I spent a night there win my husband and woke up with bites all over our legs. Also we asked room services for more towels and toilet paper and they never came. My stay here was horrible.

It didn't look so bad on the outside, nor in the lobby, but the room immediately rewarded my gut instincts. The lights were aging compact fluorescents, the ones with the sickly green cast to them. That didn't help the rest of the room look better, from the torn comforter spilling its inner contents to the janky little tv that I doubt would have worked if we had tried. The smell of vomit pervaded the sleeping area, and the smell of urine was less than pleasant in the bathroom.

Pulling back the ragged top layer of the bed revealed a stained second cover with somebody else's hair on it. Yes, that kind of hair. I immediately began to itch, which may have been psychosomatic, but my wife and I agreed that this may not have been a step up from sleeping on an airport bench after all. The fact that we really only had four hours until we headed back to the airport made it somewhat more bearable, and I reluctantly slid between what appeared to be recently washed sheets.

I slept hard, and only woke up once due to airplane-related noise. I will give them this: after a week in a Dominican Republic hotel room with only one grounded outlet and one two-prong outlet, the electrical situation was at least up to US code. All of my devices were charged in the morning, for which I am grateful. See? I always find something nice to say.

Three stars because on arrival to airport, I try to wave for the shuttle, but he's driving in the far lane, not looking for anyone to pickup. I waited for another hour and he did the same thing! After calling the hotel again, they sent him back. Grrr! Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. The concierge was not as much. I asked him a question and did not seem to want to communicate in English and dismissed me over to the front desk. smh The food from the hotel restaurant, Prieto's, was very tasty. The guys at the hotel bar were great. Thanks Leando! (Look for him at the bar in early afternoon)

Mediocre at best. Photos make it look much nicer than it is. Crappy beds and AC. Left my phone charger and glasses. Called from airport. Of course "they didn't find anything". Food is fried and gross. Wish I had spent the money and stayed at the Hyatt Regency and not the white trash version. PS. They don't speak English at the desk. Good luck.

We recently stayed at Regency Miami, due to a missed connection at the airport. The airline assigned us to the hotel, so we did not know what we were getting into. Please note that this review reflects a free stay, so any comments on price or value do not apply here. In other words, for what the circumstances were, 3 stars are appropriate.

Contrary to other reviews, staff were very polite and accommodating. A large bus of us arrived, all missed connections, and employees did their best to make us feel comfortable. The restaurant even stayed open late to fill our orders. The food (rigatoni and Caesar salad) was all right.

Our room must have been situated next to a generator or other large equipment; low-toned whale-like sounds came from nearby throughout the night. We were exhausted, so sleep was no problem. It may have affected other travelers more acutely.

Based on reviews, I was nervous about the timing of the shuttle. However, it was punctual and delivered us to/from the airport with no problem.

I probably wouldn't aim to stay at this hotel, but it was just what we needed at an otherwise chaotic time.

We were on our way back from our honeymoon and needed to stay one night in Miami so we were looking for a decently priced hotel close to the airport and this place was perfect. I would say it's an average hotel, nothing very fancy about it but the perks were very good which included a free shuttle 24 hours a day to/from the airport, happy hour at the bar from 5-7, and close proximity to restaurants and bars. It also has a pool if you're looking to relax although we didn't use it, it looked nice though! Also the front staff was very friendly, they helped us get a taxi and recommended some of the areas around the hotel. If you need a place close the airport with a FREE shuttle, look no further!

The Regency Hotel is an amazing hotel that knows the art of customer service. Chavely and Liu in the bar are Rockstars!! If you want clean rooms and great service I would recommend this place.

The hotel ran out of wash cloths, took 30 minutes to bring extra towels, and they were very vague when answering questions. They didn't even have complementary coffee, it was $2 and it was the same price at the air port but the airport has better coffee.

Stayed here for the weekend for Book Awards. The hotel itself is a few minutes from the airport. We took the shuttle, but a cab ride is probably about $10-12. The shuttle by the way, passes along the airport "hotel shuttles" area where the van (a Mercedes Benz Sprinter) passes by every half hour or so (at least during our pick up on Saturday morning) and YOU HAVE TO WAVE/FLAG THE DRIVER DOWN. There is not specific spot where they stop, they just drive through the area looking for passengers to wave them down. We missed the first one which drove right by us because we didn't know to wave, but the next one came in about 20 minutes. Once picked up, it was a comfortable, quick ride to the hotel with the friendliest of drivers. once we arrived we were greeted and promptly checked in. The staff by the way was definitely the highlight of the stay. Everyone, from concierges, bellhops, bartenders, housekeepers and all other staff were very helpful without hesitation. The hotel itself looked nice from the outside, the lobby was also nice with the bar there and also three computers set up for public use and a printer, when came in handy when printing and changing our flight tickets. There is a restaurant, pool and small gym which I cannot comment on because I did not use any of them. The hallways were fine but seemed to be dated. The rooms. The beds were comfortable and there was a desk,  and a flat screen TV with sufficient channels. The standard coffee maker, iron, ironing board and a closet. Some of the rooms had a small balcony. There were very little outlets and the of the few that we found, half of them worked. The bathroom was small but appeared to be adequate until I tried the shower.  The water pressure was horrible. It felt like a lawn sprinkler. The area is on the highway with very little around to do aside from a bunch of Cuban/Spanish restaurants though the restaurants that are a bit further away all deliver right to your room. The shuttle coms every half hour in the morning and can take you back to the airport. Overall a great experience. The rooms can use an updating, but for the most part it was an enjoyable stay.

I was pleased with this hotel just mins away from airport and port of Miami.  Was greeted outside by Melissa she was very kind and generous.  We got in early before check in she let us go to our room.  There's a few rstaurants in walking distance.  You could here planes coming and going which is no problem duh we right by the airport which i needed to be.  The pool is great the hotel was clean.  Shuttle 24hr was free to airport, gave driver tip. Nice lil bar.  Only thing wrong had to go downstairs to bar to get ice, thats minor.  I would definitly stay here again. Couldn't see much from my balcony trees block my view but i still was satisfied and able to catch the night breeze. My mom and lady fell asleep out by pool.  So yes it was relaxing.  Everyone had hospitality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.  The previous person comment is accurate.
