this springhill hotel is the best in the miami area! everytime i have to book a room for family members visiting me i book them at this hotel, they have great breakfast in the morning(a full one at that) and a great resturant/bar in the lobby! their rooms are beautiful and big, and they have the most friendly staff i have ever met!!! especially at the front desk, they really make you feel welcomed. this hotel is just great...either if you are on business or leisure. they are close to the port of miami and offer a free shuttle, and are extremely close to jackson hospital and university of miami hospital. other reviews mention the area is not so good, ok so what old homes around dont mean nothing! go to liberty city and see how scary that really is compared to wat they say is spooky at the springhill lol

This hotel has only been open two weeks as of this review!  It was awesome to stay in a brand new hotel.  The suites were, well, sweet!  The decor is really modern.  The room actually had a spa-like feel to it...the colors are refreshing: aqua and white and green ,and there were botanical prints and artwork throughout the room.  The mattresses were soooo comfortable.  I could have slept forever on the bed!

The bathrooms in our suite were great for a girl's night out.  There were two bathrooms, one with the toilet and a sink/mirror, and then another one with the shower and another sink and a big mirror.  Just outside of the bathroom was another table and mirror so all four of us girls could get ready at once without stepping on each other's toes.

The hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating.  The only bummer was the bar closes at 11 pm I think...we wanted to have a few drinks there before we went out but oh well!  Would rather be out at the beach than in the hotel lobby anyway.  FYI: Cab fare was $20 to get to South Beach.  There were four of us so it ended up being very inexpensive.

I have a feeling no one had ever even used the room we stayed in. We jumped on all the beds...it's great to break in a hotel room. :-)

The staff was wonderful to us during our stay here.   However it was never stated that this particular hotel is a "compassion hotel" for the terminally ill that are seeing doctors and receiving treatment at the nearby medical center.  What a way to harsh your mellow just before going on vacation. I have a lot compassion for what these folks are going through however, the thought of paying top dollar to stay at  a hotel such as this is obsurd. I felt like I was at a hospice hotel.   NOT COOL.  furthermore, THIS HOTEL IS LOCATED IN A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD. DO NOT BELIEVE YOU CAN WALK ANYWHERE YOU WILL LIKELY GET JUMPED.  IF YOU HAVE EVER SEEN FRIDAY THE MOVIE YOU WILL KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT

Stayed here for WMC/Ultra in 2012.  Rooms are pretty decent and service is pretty good.  Interior has a feel of Miami Beach-esque budget tropical whatever.  Pool is pretty small and got way too packed during that week.  The roosters next door were an added plus... I always made a joke about going there to eat one because the mini-store downstairs has nothing but tuna, vitamin water and hot pockets.  Parking is $15 if you rented a car, although you could risk it and park on the street (the adjoining neighborhood is not the friendliest).  As for public transportation, there are two stops which are equidistant from the hotel, both about a 10 min walk.  The safer choice is obviously in the hospital the north.  As for fast food, that's also a 10 min walk, to a McDonald's in the hospital campus.  Pretty good, cheap hotel - only real con is that it's far away from everything.

Wow, get some more staff please! Geez. The front desk lady just had us standing around while she was yapping away on the phone. I understand it was business related but I thought you were supposed to help the people in front of you before you help people on the phone lines? Especially when you're going to take your time, at least a simple "sorry for the wait I'll be right with you" would have helped. What happened to customer service?

Marriott did not do a great job of planning out the location of this place. It is seriously in the boonies. There were a whole bunch of scary and haunted looking hospitals around and run down houses that had chickens in their yard. Then you go inside Springhill Suites and everything is brand spanking new and so nice. I think they were originally supposed to be another hospital because the layouts of the rooms were very much like a hospital room, scary!

Their shuttle service guy was horrible, he clapped at us to hurry and get in the van. Then when we were all in the van he was taking his sweet time at the front desk. What an ass. Lol we gave him some of his own medicine. The BF got out of the van and clapped at him and told him to hurry his butt up. HAHA! We're not animals you idiot, don't clap at us and rush us!

Guarantee to get your room at 3pm means nothing here.  Sure, the rooms are clean, but give it a few years and even that will be gone. We have a family of 22 who had to wait in the lounge for 5.5 hours for our room, even though our "guaranteed" reservations were made months ago.

My visit was in August 2010, but I barely am reviewing this now. Lol.

    - Location S U C K E D...
    - Hotel Staff (front desk, shuttle service driver) needs more training in Customer Service 101
    - Business Center only had two computers and was always occupied by someone.
    - Called to request extra blankets (note: plural) and pillows and was told they only had extra blankets, but no pillows. Wtf. Came by and brought only one extra blanket. Talk about shady.
    - did I mention the location sucked? We were in the middle of a concrete jungle.

Read Gina C.'s review for more details; we were there together. It was only for one night before we left for our Bahamas Cruise, so we made the most of the situation.

1 star for the clean hotel, and another star cuz we got a killer deal with my friend's associate rate.

Brand new property!   Not in the best area - but for the price you get a lot for your money.  Hotel is walkable to the medical center area and also right off of 95 (depending on what side of the hotel your room is on you may get quite a lot of noise).

The suites are quite spectacular (again, for the price).  The decor is modern with a slightly "Scandinavian" feel.  Suites are super roomy with plenty of room for four people.  Unlike Embassy or similar properties, the different areas of the suites are not separate.

Beds are comfortable and everything is new.  The bathroom is the best part...divided into two areas (first with toilet sink and second with THE BEST SHOWER EVER and a vanity area).  Mirror is fog-free and slightly magnified.  Shower is fully walk-in with an amazing waterfall shower head and has enough room for three or four people (hey hey).  Desk is nice and functional.  Great flat panel TV with HD channels.

Parking is $13 a night in an underground garage.  Breakfast is free but pretty blah (I travel a ton and powdered eggs get old).  There is a bar in the lobby.  Staff is nice (although my room went uncleaned one day and they didn't seem too apologetic).

I was in town on business and had a rental car.  This hotel was great.  If I were a tourist and looking to be closer to the action, I might stay elsewhere.

Pleasant lobby and staff.  Feels more like the reception area for an activity center or gym.  Clean but not hotel like.  I chose this location for it's location near Sylvester Cancer Center. It is a ghetto location but I felt secure on the property. The shuttle picks up at the airport, and runs to medical locations as well as Bayside Entertainment area.  Room was very nice with interesting design features.  Microwave, fridge, coffee maker, nice flat screen, and wired as well as wireless Internet.  Clean and comfortable. Worth the money in my mind.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. We stayed the day after we came back from a cruise. We got to the hotel at ten in the morning and they were able to accomodate us with a free upgrade to two suites. They let us pay for the hotels on two separate cards. The suites were very clean and comfortable.

The hotel is about a ten dollar cab ride from Bayside which is pretty cool. They also had a free shuttle to the airport so we were accomodated there as well.

    Great hotel. Definitely recommened.

First off, this hotel is in a terrible part of town (i.e. the ghetto). They stick you with an additional $15 parking fee to park in their deck. It's either that or park on the street and surely find your car broken into or stolen the next morning.

It takes little short of tackling the front desk staff to get any help. They showed no interest in helping us get checked in or showing us to the elevators as we wandered the lobby with our luggage.

The lobby was littered with at least a dozen used Dixie cups that the idle staff displayed no intention of tidying up. It also only makes sense that the water dispensers in the lobby were empty.

The room was clean. After being so disgusted with the hotel upon arrival, I checked for bed bugs, and I was relieved and a little surprised to find no evidence of their presence.

We had registered the room for three adults. There were only two sets of towels in our room.  We called for more towels. After half an hour they still had not arrived, so we called again. They made us feel like quite a bother, telling us it was "late" and the last towel run had already gone out. It was only 9:30pm.

The slow two very slow elevators were awfully congested in the morning. I waited five minutes for an elevator before I gave up and took the stairs. The stairs only lead outside (remember we're in the ghetto) and then I had to walk completely around the building to get to the lobby for breakfast. The breakfast buffet was out of eggs, oatmeal, and pretty much everything but dry cereal. People were waiting for serving trays to get replenished, but it never seemed to happen. One poor customer told me he had been waiting over 10 minutes for coffee.

I think Marriott would be embarrassed to see their name on this establishment.

Great hotel if you need a stop between airport and cruise. Waited for shuttle at airport for over an hour. Nowhere in booking process did they tell us we had to call for shuttle.

Free breakfast from 630-930. Arrived at 830, and they were out of all fruit, scrambled eggs, and sausage.

Surrounding neighborhood looks pretty bad, and wouldn't want to venture outside, especially at night.

Free airport shuttle and $5 shuttle to cruise port is only benefit of this hotel.

Couldn't get wi-fi to work in my room.

Had one issue with room, manager was apathetic, but social media team was very quick to find a resolution.  Matter was resolved to my satisfaction quickly by social media team.

For those who are looking for places for Ultra coming up, this is not the best location. You look at a map and it appears to be a 1 mile walk but DO NOT DO IT! Take the Metro Rail is a few blocks away, take that and then walk over, that neighborhood is much safer.

To charge $200 for a room is ridiculous when you are not getting your value. Jesus, what is going on in Miami with this overpricing? This hotel was at best average. Nothing special. The restaurant staff needs to be fired (they made me a Cobb Salad with TOTALLY unripe avocados. No bathtub. Sink is literally about 9 by 7 inches (tiny). And the hotel is a shady side of town! But only Marriot has the balls to do this...

We stayed here for a night prior to our cruise (they have a shuttle to the port of Miami for $8 a person). After looking at the area around the hotel we didn't expect it to be very nice accommodations, but we were pleasantly surprised.

The room was really nice, and the service was great. They have a free breakfast and a small restaurant in the lobby with a decent selection (we had Cobb salads and an order of sweet potato fries) and a bar. There is also a small pool and patio area.

Another thing to remark is that this hotel is in the middle of a medical district. There were several guest that were obviously staying for medical treatments. Nothing gross, but if you are easy effected by eyepatches/bandages/stitches you might want to keep that in mind.

Great location for going to the airport and medical centers. The rooms were nice, beds comfortable and the bathrooms were plentiful in hot water. Staff was fantastic. The front desk really went out of their way to help everyone do anything from getting a taxi to staying hydrated. The free breakfast was nice and there is even an on site restaurant in case you want lunch or dinner. The garage was great for parking. Minus one point for there being some homeless people sleeping under the bridge across the street... Traveling alone made me a bit nervous about that. Otherwise a great say and I would happily stay here again while on the way in or out of Miami!

Stayed here twice already and both times we received the same great service. Our first visit we did not have reservations and the staff help accommodate us. We had been on the road about 18 hours arriving there way before check in time, they allowed us to have some their awesome breakfast and gave us a room shortly after that so we could rest (which I thought was so thought full of them). Room was clean and big. We had an issue with the AC and they got maintenance to work right on it. Our second visit we flew and they arranged a free shuttle for us that was right on time! Location is not too bad. About 20 min from South Beach, 10 min to Bayside Market place. There is a small bar in the lobby. Breakfast is fresh and delicious! Laundry station on site is so convenient. Totally recommend!

We came for Art Basel and chose this hotel last minute. I actually was pleased with stay, although I read some bad reviews before booking. The hotel is minutes away from everything in downtown Miami right off of 95. Staff was friendly and rooms clean and comfy. I will def stay here again and recommend to others. Only con I had was we had to pay $15 parking . I don't like that it should be free for those staying here .

The location is not for people wanting to explore Miami or the beaches, but it's perfect for those who are going on a cruise or using the hospital next door.

The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfortable. The bed is absolutely perfect to sleep on. The on-site restaurant is a nice benefit with good food.

Great location for any function if you have a son or daughter at medical school basically right next door. Although this trip was for graduation, it was still a good location for proximity to my daughter's condo.

The key lime pie in the restaurant was fantastic!

The room was very serviceable and clean, and as we didn't spend a lot of time there, it was fine. We had a view of the neighborhood, but there probably are views of the he freeway.

Breakfast was standard fare, but it was included. There was self serve coffee available at all times and some great looking lemon or and lime water.

So I've never stayed here, but I did live in a condo nearby for several years and know the place quite well.

    1. Food. The complementary breakfasts are delicious. They have the full meal deal - waffles, fruit, eggs, french toast, etc. and typically a protein (either a sausage patty or ham mixed in with the eggs). The coffee is typically fresh and although the orange juice is that insipid machine juice no complaints. HINT: take some of the chocolate chips and mix them with the waffle batter before cooking. Chocolate Waffle = sublime

    2. Service. When I was working as a security guard next door I had to wake up a drunk to move him off our property. He was asleep on the concrete doorstep outside one of our labs around 3 in the morning with his shirt off. After checking his pulse (this guy was OUT), I started slapping his face until eventually he woke up and started talking. I gathered that he was an 4th year Medical Student who had just finished his interview to be an anesthesiologist at UM and was staying at the Springhill Suites. I helped walk him over to the hotel, since his flight left at 4 in the morning. The Sprinhill Suites staff thought it was pretty funny and promised they'd call his room to wake him up for his flight, although based on my previous encounter I doubt the phone call worked. 5 Star customer satisfaction, even for black out drunks.

    3. ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL? Ignore Kevin C. below.I've lived in the neighborhood for four years and the walk isn't that bad. You'll get to walk through Overtown if you want, or if you're lazy you can take the Metro which is only 2 blocks away from the Springhill. Overtown is extremely pedestrian friendly (2nd Ave probably has the second most pedestrians at any time second to Lincoln Road on South Beach) and is definitely worth a visit. A little Ultra foot traffic won't clog up the streets any. Miami sometimes gets a bad rap, but it's really a VERY welcoming city, especially for the Ultra crowd. We hope you enjoy your stay, and we hope you'll be able to make it back!

I stayed here for surgery at nearby UM hospital. The hotel is both good and bad. First the good. The proximity to the hospital and spacious rooms are a definite plus. The parking and drive up to the hotel is a nightmare. The parking is a garage and therefore does not allow for guests too conveniently. The staff is friendly and accommodating as well.

Free breakfast always makes me happy and this one had some fun extras like oatmeal.  It's the little things that make the difference.  Stayed here prior to porting out for a cruise and took advantage of their shuttle service to bayside as well as to the port, only $8 pp for each.  Not exactly within walking distance to a lot but taxis are about $20 to downtown and U of M.

Room had the shower and toilet separate which makes things nice if you're sharing a room and your friends takes long showers when you have to pee!!! Sliding doors for the bathrooms make you feel like you're in Japan.  Kind of cool but definitely unexpected.  Lobby is gorgeous.  Didn't get to try the outdoor pool or gym but they looked nice.

I stayed here for one Saturday night before departing on a cruise on Sunday morning.  Great news for cruise-goers: they have a free shuttle that picks you up at the airport, and an $8 shuttle to the cruise terminal in the morning (departing at 11am, noon, 1pm, and 2pm, I think). Throw in the complementary breakfast, and this spot is an easy choice for a pre-vacation stay.

The room itself was far more modern than most, which was fun. The night time staff seemed a bit stressed (could have been related to the HUGE school group staying there), but in the morning everyone was very friendly. The location itself is right in the middle of the medical campus.  A large fence around the property hinted at a less than idyllic neighborhood, but we didn't leave the hotel, so it didn't really matter.  There wasn't much in the way of food or even delivery service, which is a bit of a downside if you happen to arrive hungry.

We stayed here during Christmas 2014. Clean rooms, courteous staff at the reception and price included free breakfast. Prices were reasonable even during the holiday season.

There are not many restaurants nearby, of you don't have your own vehicle in Miami, this is not suitable for you. They do have tie up with some restaurants that deliver.

I used this hotel because I had an interview at the hospital center and this was the hotel that is closest.  The checkin went smoothly. And the room was clean, but smelled funny because they had cleaned the carpets.  The location is terrible.  I wouldn't stay here just to visit Miami, unless you are specifically going to go straight to the cruise port (they have an $8 shuttle) or if you have to go to the medical campus.

The big pros are the free wifi, hot breakfast, and hotel bar.
Cons: not close to any real restaraunts or shopping, but they do have a shuttle to a shopping area.

The little "store" is impossibly expensive.  There are no prices marked and before I knew it, I paid $5 for an ice cream bar. You are better off walking to the Winn Dixie which is a half a mile away.

If you are flying in, make sure to call the hotel and ask for a shuttle pick up.  I assumed that they just made runs to and from the hotel, I was wrong and waited around for a while.

This hotel is actually very nice. At first, driving past it looked like a hospital so we circled around two times. However, once we checked in, we were greeted by Orvina. She was amazing. She explained everything very clearly and she even helped us beyond what she had to....love her customer service.

The room is very cute. It's just the right size for a night or two, and the location is great. We are heading to the Miami Port so this hotel is just the perfect distance to the port.

They also have free wifi and free breakfast.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family and I will also.return back here as well.
