courtyards are pretty much the same everywhere. this one is no exception. its a clean basic room at a good price. ask for a room on an upper level away from elevator. lots of people ate in the restaurant in the morning. we chose panera 2 miles away. the downtown area is charming and there are a few interesting places to eat at. the houses in the area are so cute and very unexpected.  if you are visiting ucf its a great way to leave the campus area and get away with your kids. parking is ample with lots of shade from large trees. our room was missing tissues in the bathroom. this is a much needed item. we also requested additional towels that were not given. boo hoot

2013 now four years later I am taking another child to the UCF campus.  We agreed as a family to stay in the downtown area and get away from the main campus bustle. The courtyard is improved as the lobby and rooms have a new look. It's great.  Also, free parking and self parking and free wi if. Stay here and enjoy the great restaurants in downtown.

For not knowing much about the hotels in downtown Orlando, and needing a room only for one night, I opted to go with my gut instinct about Marriott Hotels and deciding the Courtyard Marriott on Magnolia would do.

Thankfully, I was not disappointed and would recommend this hotel for anyone in a similar spot--a place with a warm bed, clean bathroom, and conveniently located near major highways and roads.

The room itself was a standard size and the amenities were also par for the course.  So for $169.00 a night (on a Friday), you could say it was worth it.  My estimate would be a 3.5 star hotel.  They have 2 restaurants, a café and lounge, a business center along with a nice fitness room.

The service was friendly even though I checked in rather late.  There is plenty of parking and there happens to be a 7-11 directly next door which can be deemed rather convenient if you need gas or a last minute necessity.

Well, in Orlando I am forced into a Marriott Courtyard because of a group rate at work.  Typically I would not be staying at a Courtyard.  This one is no exception.

Standard hotel room.  No complains really.  Nothing special.

NO free continental breakfast.  WHAT?  What year is this?  I think even the local Super 8 gives you a free corn muffin, coffee and a 2 week old USA Today.

The pool??  They should just fill it in and you'd get the same effect.  Why bother?  Dinky dinky with barely any sun touching it, and the deck was filthy with clumps of dirt and mud everywhere.  Nasty.  I could set up a chair in the middle of Orange Avenue and have a better time.

This is Orlando.  Tropical.  How about throwing one of those fake palm trees in there?  Even a blow up one.

For a simple, affordable (~$100 a night) business travel hotel, the Courtyard Downtown aptly serves its purpose.

The best elements here involve an incredibly luxurious bed, free wired and wireless internet (albeit, with questionable bandwidth), and a decent in-house breakfast buffet available for about $12.

On top of all this, the front desk staff checked me in early at around 0730 hours after I came fresh off a red-eye and about forty hours of total travel time.  What a blessing to crash in a bed for even a few hours before a day of meetings!

It's enough to forgive being put in a room directly across from both the elevators -and- the ice machine.  The sound of melting and crashing ice wasn't enough to keep me awake after being up for so many hours.

Note to self in the future: ensure to request a room away from the elevator and ice/vending room, and you're guaranteed a pleasant stay.

Man this place was great for our purposes.  One night was all we needed.  The room was HUGE, the place is spotlessly clean.  It has everything we didn't need for the night....a pool, a hot tub, an exercise room, a restaurant for breakfast.  They even have a bar in the evenings.  Computer access in the lobby.  A 7-11 next door.  Lots of parking.
All we needed was a place to check in, park our bags while we went partying.....somewhere to lay our weary heads, a place to shower in the morning and then go on our merry way.

Isn't that what a hotel is really for if you are not going on vacation?

This hotel was clean and safe! I was vary pleased with my stay. The room was big and comfy. Also vary quiet for sleeping. I do wish they had a hot tub and complimentary breakfast.. That would have made my stay perfect. The best part was that the front desk lady DID NOT charge us $10 a day for parking!

I have stayed here more than any other, when in Orlando area. Is close to Orlando Exec Airport where we fly our airplane into. Always a good stay here. Recent refurbs have sure made this even better. Coffee/sandwich vendor in lobby now, as well as room improvements. Good # of elec outlets for our 'stuff' too. Thanks folks. Well done.

Really pleasant renovation to this Courtyard was a substantial improvement. The restaurant in the lobby was convenient and tasty... if a little pricy. This is the first lobby that I wanted to "hang out" in and relax rather than retreating to my room. Room is nice though, plenty of power outlets, good heat and air. Hotel can be noisy due to street traffic and a 7-11 in the parking lot, but otherwise no complaints. This is a good business class hotel that is suitable for business travlers.

This hotel isn't bad at all, especially for the price. The rooms are immaculate and spacious. The one thing negative thing I have to say about the hotel is the "Bistro". It's overpriced in my opinion for what I can only describe to be "decent microwaved food". We placed our order and sat down and within 2 minutes... No lie... TWO MINUTES our hot  appetizer, hot sandwich and tuna salad sandwich were all delivered. With that said the food wasnt bad. If it were half the price I would have nothing bad to say about it at all, but for what we paid I would think things could have been more "freshly" prepared.

I stayed here for the apple distinguished educator camp, a week long event in orlando.

5 stars because the hotel staff is amazing. I say this because of all the little touches they put in including:
free razor, free wifi, the front desk person actually answering the phone to help schedule a wake up call.

Also, I ran into my high school friend from michigan who I haven't seen in 7 years. Great place.

The hotel was clean and nice. The staff was very friendly. They have a small bistro that you can buy sodas, cereal, water etc.. The hotel is not in the tourist area it is in the business area of Orlando. It would be to far a drive for tourist areas in my opinion. There was plenty of parking. The area seemed OK.

The only complaint was that there was no free continental breakfast. Not even a free donuts.

So. As a Platinum Marriott member since 2008, and easily going to do it again this year for 2011, it is pretty obvious that I stay in lots of Courtyards, Fairfields, JWs, Residence Inns, etc.

The Orlando Courtyard Downtown gets 4 stars from me for one reason alone. They honor the "free breakfast for platinum elites" which is supposed to be a perk of being platinum yet so few Marriotts actually do because it's not really a requirement.

Kudos to this Courtyard. Even if their fitness center sucked, which it doesn't (it has 5 cardio machines, each with a TV, a bench and weights from 2.5lb up to 50lb) I would still give them 4-stars.

Also, sometimes I've been to hotels where I put out the DND card while I attend a conference call in the morning before heading out to see suppliers. While the housekeeping people take note of my DND card, they sometimes don't go BACK to the room to see if I've removed it and I've come back to uncleaned rooms at 7 PM many a time. This has never happened here. The rooms are always clean and spotless.

I would give this hotel a 3 and a half stars. Why not that extra half star? Well, it's really not their fault, but there was a party on our floor that woke us up several times during the night. Regardless, the staff is extremely friendly and professional and they do provide complimentary laundry.

Centrally located Courtyard Marriott in Orlando, Florida. Downtown. It's in the damned name! Can't go wrong with the short walk to whatever you're into, or short drive if you're into that.

And if you get a fourth or fifth floor room, you might even be able to watch a eight police cars worth of officers take down of some sketchy homeys at the gas station next door.

Every once in a while you have the perfect stay while away from home. The staff was one of the best staff I have seen in service industry. For business travelers a must - my new Orlando hotel away from home

We were given a GC for a two night stay here. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was one of the better ones I've slept on in a hotel, and we didn't have any issues with the WiFi - which was included.

Here's what you need to know:

- This place is definitely geared more towards business than pleasure. While they have a pool, it is definitely not a resort level one. They do have a large business center that I saw several people use while we were there.

- There is a cafe on the premise, but it isn't a sit down restaurant. The food was OK but nothing to write home about. Prices were high, which is normal for a hotel. I did see a sign about a happy hour, but we weren't around for it.

- The hotel is located in DT but isn't walkable to anything really, IMO. We needed to drive anywhere we needed to go (Lake Eola/Thornton Park or the Central Business District), but what we wanted was only a few minutes away.

- They charge you $10 a day to park. That bugs me. I don't think you should have to pay to park at a hotel, though many in the area do practice this.

Bottom line is that if we needed to stay on this side of town, we would definitely consider staying here again.

A great place to stay!!  A very tentative staff that promises to make your stay clean, comfortable, safe, and enjoyable. There is a great bistro with plenty of food offerings from flatbreads, to salads, and even ribs!!
This property and its saff are exceptional quality oriented from the front desk to housekeeping. There's even Starbucks onsite!
Stay here.

When I first heard we were going to be staying at the Courtyard I was disappointed.  I wanted a hotel in the heart of downtown.  I wanted to be closer to all the action since we were going to be staying there for a few weeks.

Once we were there and settled in I soon realized that I preferred the location.  It worked well for our family since we were always coming and going.  It allowed us easy access to the highway and the surrounding neighborhoods.

We had two adjoining rooms.  One was two doubles and the other a king.  The king had a large balcony.  The room with the doubles was large, while the room with the king had the extra space used for the balcony.  Both rooms had extra seating in the rooms.  That's always nice when staying at hotels.  We enjoyed that set up.  The rooms are fine, though they could use some updating.

The main floor lobby area will be getting a gorgeous remodel come this fall.  There is a breakfast area, with a decent array of choices.  While the breakfast is fine, I would suggest walking over to one of the two neighborhood cafes for something a bit more enticing.

The bar opens around 5:00 for happy hour.  Prices are pretty expensive, but it's convenient.  It was nice to have a lounge area to come down and watch some sports on TV and get a little conversation going on with the friendly bartender.

The hotel has a nice courtyard with a pool.  There aren't many lounge chairs, but we were fine every time we went to go for a swim.  There is a hot tub Jacuzzi and a small workout room off of the courtyard.  A nice bonus is the free water bottles and guest can do laundry for free.

Over all I was happy with our stay.  The people working at the hotel are not only helpful they are very friendly too.  We enjoyed getting to know some of the employees during our stay.  Hats off to the wonderful housekeepers, they did a great job.

First, I have to make clear that my four-star rating is in the context of budget hotels since it's just not fair to compare such places to the Waldorf and the like.  With that said, everything about my stay at the Courtyard Downtown Orlando was at least as good as expected.

The standout factors were the very professional and helpful staff, as well as the better than expected food.  The only downsides were that, unlike almost all hotels nowadays, there is no free continental breakfast and the extra $10/day for parking is unreasonable.

Otherwise, everything was better than one can usually expect from a budget hotel so I'll likely return the next time I need a place to stay in downtown Orlando.

We have had lots of guests stay here when we couldn't fit them in at our home. They have nice rooms here and the downtown neighborhood is surprisingly quiet. You can walk to a number of nice restaurants from here. You are very conveniently located to downtown and Winter Park. The pricing is good and you get the excellent service you expect from the Courtyard chain.

Everyone here knows my name. Security, managers and restaurant employees. When I walk in they say 'Welcome back Ms. Meredith', 'Hope this weather is better than Detroit Ms. Meredith', 'Here is your black coffee Ms. Meredith'.
The restaurant at the Courtyard serves a fantastic, though expensive breakfast. My coworker got me hooked on the breakfast tacos. Now I have hooked several other people. The breakfast area turns into a full service, though expensive bar in the evening.
The rooms are very clean and the cable television is good. I can't seem to sleep on the south side rooms and the pillows are not as comfortable as other hotels.
I love the personal attention and the breakfast tacos. I'll be back!

Service is not up to par with Marriott brand. We called for extra towels so we could make a pending dinner reservation and it took 3 additional calls and slightly over an hour to have towels sent to the room. A simple 'we have them at the desk' would have been great, I gladly would have gone down and grabbed them. Instead, we had to cancel reservation and choose a different place for dinner. As I rewards member, I felt compelled to review here as I was not issued a 'guest satisfaction survey' during my stay. On a side note, the area is a little sketchy- I went next door to 7-11 and had 2 different panhandlers try to hit me up for $$. This has nothing to do with the Marriott, but the 100' of sidewalk between the hotel and 7-11 is begging for a street light. It is a dark stretch to walk.  Also $15 daily for parking? the back
lot didn't even seem secure....

Definitely a business hotel.  Lobby was always full of business people, not too many families.

Location is near downtown, right off the highway.  Not very close to Disney or Universal (approx. 30 min drive).

The hotel looks to be recently renovated.  Very spacious and modern lobby.  There's a bistro that has a full bar and some food options, as well as Starbucks coffee in the morning.

Rooms are adequate, nothing out of the ordinary.  A solid business hotel choice, with all the amenities you would need.

There's been some improvements since I was here last.

Mostly there's a large business center w/4 computers and they offer a small selection of cooked breakfast, lunch & dinner items downstairs at their bar.

The rooms are still extra clean and have Wi-Fi.

Surprisingly, about 30 mins. after check in, the phone in the room rings and it was Benny the person who had checked me in. He just wanted to make sure everything was in order in the room. Could he be anymore courteous? I still love it here!
