Great location, comfortable room but I wouldn't rate it to be a 4 star hotel.  Star rating should be 3 to 3 1/2.

Booked the hotel online.  When we arrived at the  hotel we discovered it had been recently renovated.  Our room had 2 queen size beds, decent water pressure, safe, bathroom  amenities, valet parking, concierge, etc. which made for a very pleasant stay.  To top it off, we got a great deal  If you're going to Universal, sea world, wet n. Wild, or the florida mall, this is the best location.  Plenty of choices for food, dining, and shopping.

I was invited to the Crowne Plaza to cover a gig, and I was pleasantly surprised by the accommodations available. It's a good solid hotel, that doesn't come with the kitsch of many Orlando tourist traps.

It's decor is an odd mix of New York city life and tropical getaway, but isn't overdone in any aspect, i.e., there are no miniature Empire State Building replicas or obnoxious tiki huts to be found.

The coolest thing about this place is the centrally located glass elevators which let you oversee the entire lobby for your trip to your room.

The rooms are pretty spacious, and the suites up top have a full bar that is nicely setup.

It started out great, as the front desk staff was very friendly.  The room itself was clean, although a little bit outdated with mismatched furniture and rather dated decor.  Being in the great swampland of Central Florida, this was of much less concern to me than having a clean room free of bugs!  I will say that while there were plenty of large bugs on 'the property' (to be expected anywhere in Orlando), I didn't encounter any in my room.

My main issues had to do with what the hotel lacked.  I was basing my expectations on the 4-star level that this hotel claims to be.  The hotel has NO balconies, so if you like to enjoy some fresh air, or a cigarette while comfortable in your room, this isn't the best option.  The front desk was very accommodating for me and put me on a lower floor with access to the mezzanine stairway so I didn't have to bother with the elevator each time I wanted to dart outside to smoke.

There appears to be plenty of parking when you first arrive, and if you are there with your family on a Disney World vacation, and back in your room by 8pm, you probably won't have any problems.  BUT, as it gets later, every single parking space does become occupied, and at Midnight you will find yourself circling the parking lot waiting for a later night-owl than you, or an extremely early riser to leave their parking space so you can get up to your room.  Of course they offer valet, but who wants to valet just because the free parking is full?

My third issue also has to do with being a late-night person.... and this one is a DEAL BREAKER.  The CP has an in-room dining menu for all dayparts, including a "late-night" menu, which is available from 11pm-7am (or thereabouts).  I don't travel with a family, and am still at an age where I enjoy going out to the local bars and clubs and getting trashed!  On my first night there, I was out with some local friends, and was dropped off back at the hotel at about 2:30am.  I called to place an order for room service, and was told that their ENTIRE late-night menu had already been sold out.  All they could offer me was 'soft drinks'.  A drink of any kind was the last thing I wanted, I was counting on room-service to get some food... as I was not going to DWI to a 24 hour drive thru for some food.  I know I shouldn't count on a hotel like CP to offer food "made to order" 24 hours a day, but how do you run out of EVERYTHING (pre-made) less than 4 hours into your "late night" service?  And this wasn't even during the busy season!

All in all, you can expect to have a nice bed with clean linens in a safe and convenient part of town.  If I ever find myself traveling with 2.3 kids and plan on spending the week at an amusement park, I may consider this hotel.... but if you are looking for a place that caters to a late-night, partying kind of getaway -- I would DEFINITELY not consider this place - there are better options available within this price range.

The hotel itself is a very nice. It's got a great pool and exercise room, it even has a game room. My only problem with this hotel is that the website says that it has wifi, but what they leave out is that the wifi costs something like $12.99 per day to use. If you have an AT&T phone you can use it for free, but otherwise you have to go to the business center to use internet. The other issue I have with the hotel is that the website says that you can pay $18 for a shuttle to and from the airport. When we arrived at the airport, there were no shuttles, so I called the hotel and was informed that they did not provide any kind of shuttle service to and from the hotel and that I needed to rent a car or take a taxi ($55 one way). I was not a happy camper. We ended up needing to rent a car. The good news is, once you're at the hotel and you want to go to any amusement park in the area, they provide shuttles. There are three times in the morning and three times in the evening when shuttles take you to theme parks and pick you up and bring you back to the hotel. We just went to Universal Orlando, and did not have to pay the huge $20 fee for parking. If you don't take the earliest shuttle to the parks, come down to the information desk early and get your passes for the shuttle, or you'll likely miss out. We scored in terms of price with travelocity. $240 per person including round trip airfare for four days.

I have never been more impressed with a hotel in my life.

My sister and I came to Universal Studios for he 21st birthday. Of course we told everyone and their mom it was her birthday. We went to the bar at midnight for birthday shots and the bar tender, Wendy, kept the bar open late for us and gave us a killer deal on our drinks!

The staff was nothing short of spectacular. We spent the entire day Saturday at the Park. When we finally arrived home we walked into our room to find a birthday cake equipped with candles and a birthday card signed by the staff!!!!! It was the sweetest thing ever!

Our entire stay was sprinkled with little acts of hospitality but this one topped the cake (pun intended) We want to go back next year just to visit the hotel!

I really enjoyed my stay here at Crowne Plaza.  I didn't expect much for any Crowne Plaza..but this one was very nice.  The rooms were super spacious and clean (so were the bathrooms), the common facilities were very open as well...multiple elevators that I never felt stuck or waiting to go up or down.  There is a 24 hour gym that is stocked with towels and machines are plenty to share.  I didn't get to use the pool but from the gym I could see the popular pool area with a cute tiki bar.  Everyone was super nice at this hotel, the doorman actually had an Ipad that he busted out with maps to show us various routes/short cuts to take.  There are shuttles that you can use (but be sure to reserve your spots) that can take you to the local theme parks.  The location is very convenient and parking is free and plenty so that was a big plus.  Overall, I had a great experience at this hotel.  If I am ever back in the Orlando area I would definitely consider staying here again.
Oh yeah..there is a pizza delivery service that delivers 24 hours even if you just want a drink.  We were able to get some wine after the bar closed delivered to our room....however, it was close to $20 with tip for a bottle of Sutter Home, just could not drink that.  But still, if you are hungry at anytime you can ask the front desk for the Pizza Delivery place and you would be able to order food, beer...or cheap wine =).

Great hotel. Very clean bathrooms and rooms. Nice staff. Decent little pool area with a jacuzzi, more than sufficient for me. Small gym if you want to squeeze in a work out, the exercise machines are limited and old but in good condition. Great lockers and gym bathrooms. Only negatives were that breakfast was not included and you needed to pay for wifi. Also the fridge in the room was making an annoying sound. Overall though good value for price!

Clean comfortable hotel. I wouldn't label this a 4 star hotel. What I will review is the $14.99 breakfast buffet. Horrendous powdered eggs and the Omelette Chef produced a burnt omelette. It was a brown omelette. And he actually gave it to us. He's probably a nice guy but they need a picture of a perfect omelette next to the burner so he can compare HIS brown omelette to the yellow omelette in the picture. The buffet was a $2.99 buffet. Greasy broken bacon and hard package pastries. Wonderful waiters though.

Overall great hotel. Just don't eat breakfast. :)

The concierge was AWESOME. I believe his name was Doug. He not only recommended a restaurant (Fishbones), called to ensure we had reservations but in addition, while there, the restaurant manager came over twice with a shrimp cocktail appetizer and dessert cookies courtesy of DOUG!!! How awesome! Such a small gesture which meant so much. Thanks Doug!!! Doug makes the hotel a 4 star.

Great hotel. Comfortable and clean. And really quiet considering the gaggle of children that were staying at the hotel.

Note: the shuttle only runs twice in the morning (one around 9 and one around 10) and twice at night (one around 8 and one around 10... I think.. don't quote me on that!). It's not the most convenient schedule. If you don't want to take the shuttle, it's a flat $10 town car (yea, we were "living large" while in Orlando.. and not by choice) to anywhere at Universal and about $7-8 coming back.

Despite this, you still save a lot of money staying at an off-site hotel and every dollar counts when you're going to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter!!

We stayed here to go to Universal and Disney World.  They offer a very limited shuttle service to both parks.  We walked 2 miles each way to Universal and took a 8 dollar cab ride if we were tired.  When you book a shuttle, make sure you get there early or they leave without you.  They take down your phone number when you make the reservation, but don't expect them to call you.  They didn't seem to care we missed the shuttle.

The hotel is clean and pool is decent.  Customer service is rather slow.  The breakfast  buffet is decent, much better than a Holiday Inn Express.  Fresh food, while not prepared well, is still fresh at the buffet.

There are good restaurants outside the park within walking distance.  We had great pizza and Indian food.

Got our Single Queen Studio room reservation on Priceline the day we were driving into Orlando for $70 (~$86 dollars with tax).  Probably could have gotten it for a little cheaper if we had tried to lowball more but this hotel proved to be more than worth it.  The hotel was a very short drive from Universal which was nice after a long hit day at the parks.

Our room was very spacious and had a unique but very practical layout. The hotel building itself is nothing spectacular, in fact it is very typical of an upper 3 star/average 4 star hotel. What made me give this hotel five stars was the customer service. Everyone was very kind and brought us anything we needed (including toothbrushes/toothpaste which we had forgot). We also wanted to sleep in and were very pleased when we were given a late checkout for 12 PM after a quick phone call.  All in all a great hotel with amazing service.

My only qualm with this hotel was the taxi the concierge called for us when we asked for a taxi. It was a very nice town car (think limo service), but did not use a meter and ended up charging us $16 for a ride that only cost $10 in a normal cab on the way back. Very negligible issue but notable nonetheless.

Overall, a decent experience, but not great. I stayed here because I was attending a conference taking place at the hotel so it was convenient; otherwise, it wouldn't have been my top choice.

My room was unexpectedly large, and the bed was set off from the TV/couch/desk area, which was nice. And the best thing this hotel has going for it is the staff -- they are incredibly customer-service oriented.

My main issues were: (1) Some of the common areas didn't seem all that tidy -- I saw trash in the stairwells that was there for several days; (2) the decor was VERY outdated -- faded carpet with big graphics (though it did match the '80s music that was constantly playing in the lobby ...) (3) there were almost no amentities other than shampoo and conditioner --  no complimentary coffee, wi-fi, etc., and the gym was pathetic; (4) the area surrounding the hotel is totally touristy/tacky, with few restaurant choices beyond chain fast-food places. I had to resort to room service for dinner, which left something to be desired.

I didn't use the pool, but it did look nice.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, and being able to snag a room here for $50.xx a night, it was well worth it!

First, the staff gets an A+ for being extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone greets you as you walk by and are willing to answer any questions you might have. The shuttle driver, in particular, was the best. One of the highlights of my Orlando trip was simply taking the shuttle to Universal Studios just to be greeted by him.

The room was spacious and had a view of the pool area below. Beds were clean and comfortable. The pillows were really soft!

Bathroom was nice too. Shower had good water pressure and warm water. Towers were constantly replaced. Also, the shampoo, soap, and lotion were great! My girlfriend even wished they sold the lotion in stores.

They also had a computer room where you can browse their computers and print things out as needed. Not gonna lie, I printed out some coupons from Restaurant.com (baller on a budget status) from here without any problems.

The only downside to this hotel is the fact that they actually charge you an extra fee to connect to the hotel's wireless. Luckily, my room was close enough to a neighboring hotel that gave away theirs for free and was able to connect through there. WHAT?! Don't act like you never stole internet before!

Great stay and would easily come back if I ever came to visit Universal Studios again.

Hotwire calls this a 4-star hotel... I don't really agree.

The check-in process was painless and quick... no complaints there.
My first room was large, and clean, but there must have been sort of leak somewhere (I'm guessing from the sink in the living room).  I took the hair dryer and towels and dried it once, but a few hours later, it was soaked again.  Concerned about mold or mildew whatever, I asked to be moved to a new room.

The second room was really identical to the first (except for the leak)... big, clean, etc.  However, the A/C was so damn loud and vibrated so much, I had to turn it off at night to sleep.  It was ridiculous.

The rooms itself are nice... a bit dated, and could use a coat of paint, but decent layout, nice TV, and OK bathroom.

The hotel has free parking which is a plus, but there is so little of it, it was sometimes a challenge to find a parking spot anywhere near an entrance.  They charge for the Internet (something like $13) which is a load of crap in my opinion, but at least it's free in some of the common areas.  The food at "Chats" (the bar area) is decent and the service is good and friendly.

Overall, it was very very average.  I think for the hotel part itself, it's overpriced.  I think you end up paying for the location (which admittedly, is very good if you are going to any of the theme parks).  If I were going to the theme parks, I'd consider staying here again... otherwise, I'll be looking for somewhere else.

nice hotel:) I enjoyed the nice bedsheet and comfy matress. I was there for tow days. the staff is nice and helpful.

It's December and tourists were having fun in the pool; it's florida!  The weather is nice all year around.

This is a busy hotel. They always have lor of cars in the parking lot. It seems that people chose this hotel to have meeting and conferences. They have a restaurant/bar. I sip a few drink during my stay. Overall.. I recommend this place if you are in universal studio area

I stayed here for 12 nights between July 28 to August 9th and I have to say the stay nice. I was able to get an executive level suite which offered many amenities that would not have been available unless there was a cost to them. Mornings, I enjoyed a complimentary continental breakfast and afternoons a generous happy hour consisting of unlimited complimentary draft beer and warm tapas.

I was most appreciative of the pool remaining open until midnight so that I could enjoy the local attractions, a nice time in the executive level lounge, and a meal out without feeling pressured to try and cram in a refreshing dip in the pool.

As for the room accommodations, the rooms were nicely appointed, but nothing special. They had everything one would need: a good bed, arm chair, desk, television, and a bathroom. Furnishings were basic, not spectacular, but I did not come to Florida to spend my waking hours in the room.

Hotel service was prompt and courteous. When I arrived, my room was not ready (I was 3 hours early for check in), but provisions were made to store my luggage and I was given some excellent suggestions to kill a few hours in the area.

I just recently rebooked a room for this summer.

My husband and I stayed here and our stay was alright, but we had a few problems that were actually fixed right away. Check in was very fast and efficient. When we got to our king bed room, which was very nice, it was warm so we turned the air conditioner on. We sat on the bed to watch tv and the air was blowing so hard on us, we had chills and our hair was blowing all over the place. We couldn't get away from the gust of air blowing!! There was no way to even close the vents. I'm seriously talking about industrial strength force here coming from a vent on the wall. The curtains were blowing so hard it looked like a window was open. We tried turning it off but it just got so warm in there. It was September in Florida, so it was probably 87 degrees outside! I had read other reviews about the air blowing like this and i thought maybe they were exagerating, but they were definitely right on. We called maintenance to see if they could fix the speed of the air and basically they said there was no way to control it. The man said some people like that air blowing on them. I honestly don't know how anyone could sleep with that forceful wind blowing on their face. They said that every single king room was designed that way where the bed was near the vent.  In order to get away from it we could be moved to a queen suite. It was excellent customer service to be moved quickly to an upgraded room, but honestly I have a queen bed at home and when im on vacation i enjoy sleeping in a king bed! I guess we couldn't be picky though.  The suite was very nice and we had no problem with the air. They have a free computer/business center downstairs with about 4 computers, so don't bother paying 13 bucks for wi-fi in your room. It's very close by to International Drive, so every single restaurant you could possibly want is around the corner. Also, it is about 5 minutes away from universal/islands of adventure. I always try to be completely honest with my reviews as I base my stays on other reviewers. I would stay here again if the price was right for a queen suite or regular queen room, but the fact that we were told that the king rooms all have this problem with the forceful air blowing on your face when in bed?? If i found a king room for a decent price with decent reviews at another hotel, i'd probably stay somewhere else.

I stayed here during a visit to Orlando for a professional conference being held at the Orange County Convention Center on October 17, 2011. I selected this hotel via the magic of Priceline.com .

The hotel room was perfectly acceptable and reasonably clean and comfortable. The bed was outstanding. They certainly got the memo regarding upgraded linens, etc.

The hotel itself is kind of a downer. It is an older property geared toward package tours which has seen better days. Like the building itself, the staff is so-so; not friendly but serviceable.

The hotel looks at its guests like dollar signs. Lots of extras costs: $12 per day for wifi? $3.50 for a 16 oz. Starbucks wanna be coffee? Meals are bad and expensive. No shuttle service to airport or OCCC so all of this really ads up. Nothing is walkable from this location at all.

I would not stay here again.

Nickeled and dimed...scammed...then irritated. Other than those staff integrity issues, it was alright.

Stayed at this hotel last weekend and it was just okay. Some good, some bad. From the get-go, I had a bad experience. When going to check in the front desk person told me that if I wanted two beds instead of one king that there was going to be a $30 charge. I find that to be just absurd. Why would you charge somebody $30 to have two beds instead of one bed, I've never heard any place doing that before. So it's not about $30, but more of the question as to why.

I don't care to be nickeled and dimed for $30. It puts a bad taste in my mouth. I'm an entrepreneur, CEO and my company has about 50 employees. If my accounting can book a nice hotel for less on Priceline I'm going to go ahead and have them do that. It really bothers me when I get treated like a second-class citizen by the front desk staff because I booked on Priceline.

Anyhow, when I was speaking to this gentleman, a female employee came up & asked if there was a problem. I said I thought it was rather ridiculous that I was being charge $30 for two beds. I also told her that I had called as soon as the room was booked and requested two separate beds and that the person on the phone said that that would not be a problem. This girl that says to me, "well do you remember who you talked to?" Me that is just an absurd question to ask a customer. Of course nobody's going to remember the person that they spoke on the phone to pertaining to asking for two beds at a hotel room five weeks ago. Why would you ask a customer that when you already know what the answer is going to be. Like I'm going to say, "oh yeah I spoke with Mary five weeks ago that's who it was." It's just absurd to ask somebody that. They wouldn't budge on the $30 and that left a bad taste in my mouth. My Director of Sales was with me and rather perturbed at them as well and of the notion that he and I would be sharing a king bed. She also said to me, "Well maybe you should take that up with Priceline." Again why in the world would you say something like that and customer. I told her to just process the room as I no longer wanted to discuss it.

We checked into the room in the room was nice. It had a refrigerator and a microwave in it as well. The beds are very comfortable too. We had a room that overlooked the pool and the surrounding area which was quite nice. The room was actually quite nice as well. One bad is that the water level in the shower fluctuates, as well as, the pull up knob for the shower is broken and doesn't fully engage. Is anybody from the hotel cares its room 1218.

We both went to the bar the first night as it was late and we flew from the West Coast and we're hungry. We sat at the bar for over five minutes waiting for service as he apparently was eating a meal in the back office room to the left. Nonetheless, he was friendly and the food for the most part was good. We dropped a hundred bucks on the meal and here is where the inconsistencies start with this service staff. The billing was correct, and he did not include the gratuity on the bill and I provided my standard 25% gratuity to the check.

Later we went out to the bar by the pool and I ordered a draft beer from the lady bartender. I asked her to start a tab and then about a half hour later I closed it out. I signed the check to my room and left a tip. Later when I went back to the room I noted that the bartender put an 18% gratuity on the check and never told me about this. To me this is a real integrity issue. Servers in the industry call this double dipping the tip. To me it's basically very dishonest to present somebody a check that has an 18% gratuity on it and not tell them about it. It's sneaky, as you're trying to get double tipped.

Sunday afternoon I went back to the lobby bar to set up my laptop and meet with a client, have some food, and watch a little bit of NFL football. The service was good but we were really basically the only people in there. The thing I point out here was that the bartender brought my check and  said, "thank you very much gentlemen for coming in, just to let you know there is an 18% gratuity already added to your bill. Thanks guys." Now obviously this guy has integrity as he pointed out that his tip was included and pointed to where we could add more if we wanted; which I did. My point on all of this is one bartender put no gratuity on the check, one bartender puts a gratuity on there and surreptitiously does not tell you about it, another puts it on there and tells you about it. This is very inconsistent and to me creates the ability for a staff to be very sneaky and dishonest. I thought all of it a little bit disconcerting. This staff from the bartenders to the front desk had not really impressed us so far so instead of having our business party of 10 at the hotel here, we went to the Rosen Creek Resort Steakhouse instead and spend the money there.

I stayed here last night with my sister because we were getting up at the crack of dawn to go to Warped Tour.
The valet guy was nice, except now I am missing my plug-in charger for my iPhone in my car.
The room was clean and there isn't much to complain about except that our room's thermostat was broken so it was absolutely frigid in the room-which I guess is better than it being boiling hot. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would come back- I would just check Hotline to make sure that it's the cheapest four-star near everything in Orlando.

Not bad! For $~70/night (used lastminutetravel.com ) we got a nice junior suite on the 7th floor.

Smacked in the center of all the touristy places and just a few miles from Universal Orlando, Crowne Plaza certainly does the job. It provides shuttle transportation to both Universal and Walt Disney World, a nice gym, a nice pool and jacuzzi, a nice room with good lighting, an elevator that talks to you.

Wait. An elevator that talks to you? Have we gone H2G2??? Maybe. =) But it doesn't compliment you nor tell you to have a nice day. Or Don't Panic.  Ah well.

The room itself is cool. A queen bed, a very accessible bathroom. Not as big as AVIA Hotel, but it really does the job.

We were apprehensive that kids and tweens might ruin the stay, but it actually wasn't a problem at all.

Point deductions come from the confusing shuttle check in setup. Each time we went to the counter, they gave us conflicting directions on how to get to the shuttle. Oh well.

Great check in, great bed, VERY CLEAN, well maintained, not sure if it rates as a 4 star, but it's a good solid location. A bit of a pain to get to but that's the fault of the GPS...

Pay WiFi? Seems especially petty for a 4 star location...

January 1st, 2010. Last minute we decide to go to Orlando for the weekend. 3 hours on the road and we arrive to our hotel (we made reservations online).

When we get there, the front desk lady greets us with the biggest smile, get our name and to my surprise, she has our room keys ready. She had separated them with post it notes with our last name on them.

We are staying on the club level. Room was ready, clean, spacious, with microwave and flat screen TV. Comfortable bed and cloud like pillows, great for when getting back tired from the parks/ clubs, etc.
Club level has it's own breakfast room. Breakfast consists of, cereal, toast, bagels, English muffins, some fruit, assorted teas and coffee. Would have been great to have a bit of protein, specially when you have a busy day ahead, but at least is something to start the day, plus staff is really attentive and helpful. Plus room is fairly big and comfortable.

Whenever we needed anything we just needed to go to front desk and it was taken care of immediately. Definitely great customer service.

The hotel is just minutes away from the International Drive, and Universal Studios and Island of Adventures. Also close to the Disney Parks. It has a pool and jacuzzi, gym, business center with 4 computers, outside area to smoke (rooms are all nonsmoking). It has a bar/ restaurant at the lobby, plus room service. There's a bunch of restaurants near the hotel, in case you want to eat "out" or you can have them deliver.

Great place to stay - no worries, just relax and enjoy.

This was a nice hotel. The room wasn't too big, but I was very comfortable. I espeically liked that the shower had very good water pressure. That's always a happy surprise.

The hotel has free parking, a pool, hot tub, arcade and gym. Also, there is a free shuttle to and from Universal Studios every 40 minutes. However, remember to get a boarding pass from the lobby. You need a boarding pass to ride the shuttle back too. If you don't have one during high season, they won't let you onto the bus.

In the morning, we walked to the theme park, which was a 20 minute walk.

Oh, and the BF wants me to give props to the bell clerk who gave us the 411 on fishing in the area.

This is a 2-star hotel pretending to be a 4-star.   When they designed the Crowne Plaza Universal, they must have taken a copy of the checklist of what  makes a 4-star hotel.  Yes there is pool.  But it is so small for this size of this hotel.  There is one tiny hot tub that fits no more the 4 standard size American men without feeling awkward. There is a sorry excuse for a gift shop and an arcade.  There is also a very small gym with some broken equipment inside. I used it today and I was content. Hubby said he has had better coffee from a truck stop.  It only costed $3.25.  I don't have any problems spending more on good coffee.  Even Starbucks don't charge that!

I hesitantly gave it a 3-star  because the afternoon shift staff  member was accommodating. (I can't say the same about the morning shift). She gave me a studio upgrade for FREE even before I could request it when she realized there were 3 of us staying.  The studio contains a comfortable queen size bed, a pull-out couch and a tiny fridge.  The rest has it's basic hotel room necessities and amenities. FYI, a standard room here is a king size bed, not double (which is a $20 upgrade fee).

I acquired this room through Priceline by mistake. I meant to bid in the Sea World area. A 4-star hotel in the Sea World area gives you the Rosen Shingle Creek.  What a BIG difference of what get when you don't pay attention when bidding.  Lesson learned.

I will most likely not come back here again.

I just have to say Guerline is an outstanding representative of Crowne Plaza Orland-Universal.  She went above and beyond to make my situation right, after Hotwire.com really tried to ruin my stay.  I recomend booking directly with the fine folks at Crowne Plaza and NOT to use Hotwire.com .  Thank you Guerline and Ricardo for making things right with the reservation, even when it was Hotwire's responsibility to do so.

Hotel was great, the unviersal studios ran bus that takes you to the park was NOT.
But, hey, not the hotel's fault.

The breakfast buffet, specifically, was quiet good.

** Notes on the bus, and this applies to any of the participating hotels.
The tram DOES NOT get you there in time for the HOUR early. We got there about 1/2 hour early. The whole reason of staying at a participating hotel is to get inside an hour early, and I think the tram should get you there an hour and 15 minutes early, so you have time walk to the front gates.

Decent, but I've stayed at better Crowne Plazas. While the location is really convenient for resort-goers and the lobby and property is well maintained, the rooms were pretty average. WiFi was not free as it has been at other Crowne Plazas I've stayed at. On a positive note, I was able to get two nights for ~$70 each using the Priceline Negotiator so it worked out.

I actually like this place, I hate most every motel I stay at but not here.  The only downsides were 1) The indoor bar area has terrible service, the worst, you could raise your hand or point to the servers and they would look right at you and walk the other way.  The outdoor bar area is much better service. 2)  I had a room with two queen beds (even though traveling alone) one bed was so bad I couldn't sleep, I finally decided to try the other bed and is was much better.  Other than that I enjoyed and would go back again.
The free wi-fi is actually fast unlike most motels.

I was not impressed with this hotel.. The hallways felt like 100% humidity.. The air condition in the room was extremely loud. I was in room 608 and the dumpsters and an employee entrance were directly below me. It was literally some type of noise through the entire night. The insulation in walls is thin so I could hear the man in room next to me have a cough attack. Too top off a horrible stay the manager at front desk told me, I should have called in middle of the night for a room change. I don't know about anyone else, but at 1 am I'm not tracking through the hotel hallways in pajamas at that time. Oh wait, icing on the cake... They charged me 18 dollars for valet and 9 for self parking. Only problem is I have one car and I used Valet.. Again another inconvenience.. I have no earthly idea how this hotel got 4 stars.

I like this place.  It adds about ten minutes to my drive, but it's the same price as the HI that's closer to my destination... and comes with an executive lounge.

Granted, the free beer isn't great, but I'm there for the fresh fruit.

Not so much for the kids whose parents are using the E-Lounge as a romper room for their brood.

Speaking of other guests, the Lounge attendant handled some rather atrocious behavior from one woman with grace and dignity -- I was embarrassed for her!

Love the outdoor area, and glass elevators are always fun.  Thumbs up.

The location is a boon and a bane -- the traffic is horrid, but there's plenty to do -- and if you want to stretch your legs, it's in walking distance too (YMMV on what you consider walking distance).

Note that Sushiology is right around the corner :)

The only reason why I give this place 2 stars is because they gave me a birthday card and a cake....here is why they deserve 1 sad little star:

Tiff's Birthday Experience at this "4" Star hotel:

Day 1) yay bday card and cake. Free parking, free wifi, gee thanks.
Day 2) another bday card. Gee thanks.
Day 3) Went out to enjoy my bday vacation, came back room was not cleaned. Cleaning ladies said there was a do not disturb sign on the door. Negative...the sign has been sitting in the same spot by the flat screen tv. We let it slide and just asked for extra towels.
Day 4) Tiffany's Birthday!!!!!! Ummm why is my credit card charged for $1,721.52?!?!?! Invalid charges, some of which was never showing up in their system Btw, staying on the executive level still didn't add up to what they were authorizing my card for.. Not to mention the additional charge of $305 they had charged to my other card. Nightmare. "Claudine" claims she has fixed everything...ok. Moving forward.....Room service. I have never been to jail but I am pretty sure the food they brought to my room was equivalent to what prisoners eat. CRAP. The security guard (random) came to pick it up.
Day 5) Surprise! "Claudine" never fixed the charges on my card. Another hour of my vacation wasted with "Lasandra" at the front desk. Asked "Lasandra" if they can accommodate a free stay since we have been going through so much... She gave me her general manager's card and let me know he could make that call. I decided to go ahead and call the manager after I got back to my hotel this evening, he said his other manager "Phil" who is a "fair" guy..... Was "Phil" fair? Absolutely not.

Ending result, I spent most of my bday at the front desk.... Good thing I had family and good friends with me. Otherwise..I would say this Crowned Plaza ruined my birthday.

Blah. There are better hotels! Really do your research or pay these people in cash!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading!
Tiff

The Good:
- Super comfortable beds.
- A nice big, open layout suite.
- The room is dark, they even have these curtain clips to keep the sun out.
- A very quiet room, nothing kept me awake not even the air-conditioner.
- The buffet breakfast. When booking go ahead and include breakfast in with your room. It's a steal compared to what they charge here without. Lots to choose from, an omelet station, bacon, pancakes, french toast, bagels, tons of cut up fruit, etc.
- Nice vacationy environment. The pool is always open with music playing and a tiki- bar. Ping pong and a fun ring game downstairs as well.
- Friendly accommodating staff.
- It's clean.

The Bad:
- The included toiletries. Terrible products that dry out your skin.
- No free internet. It's $12 a day per device.

It is a pretty nice hotel down in Orlando. I am not sure of the distance to things seeing as I was there for a convention, but I do know that it was close to the convention center ( not exactly walking distance but close) The hotel bar area was nice and always very popular as the bartenders were friendly. The gym area was nice but it seemed that it was a trick to using it as my key never wanted to work properly. I wish I would have brought my bathing suit with me as the pool looked quite inviting. All in all, I will definitely stay here again for business or pleasure if I am ever back in the Orlando area again.

Planned a romantic weekend staycation for two that started by checking in to the Crowne Plaza- Universal.  It was centrally located near the attractions that we would be going to over the weekend and ended up being the perfect place.

The staff here is very professional, friendly, and accomodating.  I wanted to do something special for by BF before he arrived and was checking in later than originally anticipated due to the horrible I-4 traffic on a Friday afternoon.  The desk attendant was aware I was in a hurry and checked me in quickly.  She also put a note in the computer system so when my BF checked in, they did not give him the key card and instead made him contact me alerting me that he was on his way up to the room.  My surprise turned out perfect.

The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and all the amenities we needed were available for the small amount of time we were actually in the room.  The hotel itself was very nice.  It has a few restaurants and a beautiful pool area.  I hope to stay there again and get to take advantage of all the hotel has to offer.

I really noodled on whether to give this a one or two star review. Given this is advertised as a "four star" property, and looking through the lens of other "four star" properties, this gets an "Eek! Methinks not" one star rating. So comparing this to say the SeaTac Motel 6, sure, this is 3 or 4 stars, but comparing this to say the Westin in Vancouver B.C. - not even close.

Arrived at 2:30 AM. Booked into room 206. Get to room, lights in three lamps don't work. I go to make sure the bulb is seated in the desk lamp and the bulb falls apart. OK, no harm no foul - poop happens. Walk to front desk, drop off bulb, they say bulb in the morning. No problem.

Then I can't get the internet to work. Lovely 2:50 AM phone call with AT&T tech support and sharing MAC addresses and other information to connect up. Wait? $12.95 a day for internet? What the heck? Who charges for internet access in 2014? Oh wait, the Crowne Plaza Orlando-Universal does.

The air conditioner in the room was incredibly loud - in excess of that Motel 6 wall unit from 1982 that's never been serviced loud. It is a regular unit, with the intake and AC coil located literally by the night stand in the small room. Easily over 75 db when running. Like sleeping next to a small jet airplane.

Then at 9:45 AM, as I hadn't gotten to bed until 3:15 AM, I am serenaded by an alarm coming from room 205. I called the front desk and I could hear the hotel staff moving around in the room turning it off. Seriously, I can sleep like the dead - the walls are paper thin.

The room amenities and bathroom are a big ball of meh - there is little, beyond the awesome Crowne Plaza mattress that is "four star" in this room. The picture of the New York skyscraper was so in theme with an Orlando hotel!

Come back to the room on Saturday early evening - not made up. Hooray! I call, it gets made up.

Sunday comes and there is a wedding ceremony going on outside of my room. A planned, chairs, everything, outside of my room. I needed to go to my room when the wedding was going on, and I felt horrible, but it couldn't wait (there on business and I needed my laptop). I was told I couldn't go up. Explained the situation and ended up having to take the stairwell up and walking through the ongoing wedding. And the room at 2:30 PM...not made up yet.

Come back to the room Sunday at 7:30 PM - still not made up. House keeping says the do not disturb sign was on the door. Ya, up until 7;30 AM when I woke up it was - but certainly not the rest of the day and I double checked. If you read other reviews, house keeping apparently says, "the do not disturb sign was on," a lot. A lone house keeper shows up at 8:00 PM and I sat on a couch in the second floor wedding chapel, sorry, atrium I mean, while they cleaned the room for 45 minutes. Regret I even called.

Oh wait, it gets better. I'm pretty sure the hotel laundry or some mechanical room is below room 206. At random times, day or night, I was serenaded by the sound of a hundred washers on spin cycle and out of balance. How this is acceptable in a "four star" hotel is beyond me.

The gym is quite possibly the saddest hotel gym in "four star" hotel land. Everything is broken - and it is little more than a closet. Don't be fooled by the pictures. Also don't be fooled by the hotel pool pictures. It is a nice pool - but way smaller than the pics portray.

The food in the restaurant was very mediocre, bar closes by midnight. The business center is actually pretty nice and reasonably equipped. There see, I'm not a total hater.

I'm a big fan of the Crowne Plaza brand. I've had the misfortune of staying at many Universal/Convention Center hotels in Orlando and honestly, it seems the owners at all of them don't give a crap. It makes sense as most guests are probably tourists, who won't be coming back likely, and business travelers at conventions or trapped by travel policy (that would be me). This is definitely nicer than the Rosen Center, to set a benchmark, which would be about -1 star in my book.

If you like thin walls, loud air conditioners, terrible food, a cleaning staff that doesn't care and doesn't show up, broken gym equipment, paying for internet, and being located where not much is walking distance, while paying four-star hotel rates, then I give a strong endorsement the Crowne Plaza!

A nice hotel for the Disney/ Conference crowd. I loved the beds. I am seriously considering setting up my bed at home the same way. Yes, I love it that much.

Lost a star for the insipid coffee for the room and charging for wi-fi. Any Hotel that charges for wi-fi loses a star. You don't charge extra for lights or air conditioning, why would you diss your tech savy customers. It simply causes me to use other devises. Charging  $12 for wi-fi is just down right insulting. Yep, lose a star.

So what could easily be a 5 star review with all the outstanding elements this hotel, in essence is now a 3 star. BUT

Due to the outstanding customer service received on the phone prior to my arrival another star is replaced.

This is NOT the place to stay if you want good service. Valet service lacking when nobody can be found to valet a car twice in one day. Hotel manager had to figure out keys and cars for guests as we stood waiting.  Pool bar is not open daily and inside bar tending personnel cant figure out how to make a pina colada using the mixer in the bar.  Called twice for servicing of room at 5:00 pm.  DONT STAY HERE IF YOU LIKE GOOD SERVICE.

Mediocre experience. Friendly staff but very uniformed. Had to ask about everything. From shuttle service, to where and when breakfast was being served to late check out. I felt like I was pulling teeth from the staff.

Once we figured out that there was a shuttle service they never told us we had to sign up for the end of the night pick-up. We ended up taking a cab back to the hotel after waiting 30 minutes for the shuttle. The staff said they were sorry but the shuttle service is provided by a third party so they couldn't do anything. Great way to own it.

Clean hotel but rather old. Stain on my bed sheet.

Close to the park but need a shuttle or cab to get there.

Won't stay again.

Three star at best. They claimed to be a 4 star but its not. The coffee pot in the room needed to be cleaned before we could use it. the cups provided for the coffee pot arr smaller than the coffee pot is used for so a cup overflows with you do one cup. the room was ok it is very bad setup being close to elevators lots of Hall way noise all night. The shower handle was so hard to turn we thought it was going to break turning it on then it drips all night long. Waking you multiple times the walls were not thick we could hear the neighbors on both sides.

The hotel is located on Universal Drive off the main drag and the insane nightlife crowds that frequent International Drive so I'll give it that.

Forget the four star experience from this property. Unless that is you count the nickle and diming for everything whether or not you want it from the self-serve parking to appearing to force a gratuity on room-service. Which by the way, our room was not made up when we returned the next evening.

The rooms were oddly shaped and disjointed. Couch (pull out) bed faced alcove bed and just made it feel uncomfortable.

Hotel loses a star for charging for Internet. Charging an excessive fee $12.95 for a 24-hour block for what is commonly offered free at most 2-3 star hotels and even most national restaurant chains offends me.

Being woken up by a pre-set alarm clock at 4 am when you didn't set it was the piece of cake that made my stays first night less than restful and relaxing. Staff didn't seem bothered by my experience. I hope they don't mind my not returning next time we are in Orlando next year.

Nice hotel at a reasonable price. Hate taking a gamble near the tourist traps, but this one was decent. Clean, comfortable rooms. Pool is nice and has a bar with food service and the 24 hour workout facility is a nice touch. $12.95 for wifi is stupid expensive, but you should be paying attention to your family and not your FB page. ;)

$9 for self serve parking and $18 for valet (which includes 2 free drinks, if you are so inclined).  They also have free shuttles to Universal on a first come first served basis.

This hotel was not what I expected it to be. First off, the hotel room was filled with dust. In the vents, on the bed frame, on the picture frames, everywhere. The food was mediocre. Nothing too special, but it was also pricey. The pool is way smaller than portrayed on the pictures online. But I must say, it is a nice pool. There's not that many people in it so you can swim freely. Also who pays this much for Wi-Fi? You also have to pay a fee for parking in their lot even if you're a guest..  When my family and I went to the gym area, a majority of the machines didn't work.  But my favorite thing about this hotel is the customer service, we met some very nice people! Overall, this hotel does have its flaws, but I do enjoy it.

The GOOD
- Nice location
- Pool and hot tub open until midnight
- Bar by the pool
- Ping pong table and arcade room access
- Fitness Center access
- Decent size room
- Good water pressure in shower

The BAD
- No wifi. You have to pay for internet access.  This is a big deal!  Even fast food, nowadays, provides free wifi.

I love Crowne hotels!
I have always said they are great - amazing - fantastic - and they can do no wrong.
Until tonight...

I'm too tired to go into details right now but long stories short :

- TV : It's great that I could watch Food Network, Discovery, Spike and The Weather Channel.
It's not so great that those are the only channels working. A call to the front desk brought an engineer who was able to explain, "Yeah we've had satellite issues for awhile. Most channels don't work. I'll go downstairs and see if I can reset the server.
Needless to say that was the last we saw of him...
(Oh and still no more channels)

- Sleeper Sofa : Well, my kid can't watch TV, may as well go to bed. So we open the sleeper sofa to find...
A mattress. Just a mattress.
"Daddy, how come I can't have sheets on my bed too?"
So another call to the front desk, explain what the problem is, they say they'll tell housekeeping, and we wait.
In no time at all there's a knock on the door. Yay!
I open it, and I'm unceremoniously handed a plastic bag with a blanket, a fitted sheet that doesn't fit, and 3 (3???) top sheets.

I guess Orlando sees enough tourists that it's okay to blow off simple things like decent customer service and guest satisfaction, but as a semi-local and frequent visitor, the shoddy treatment was exacerbated by the prior knowledge of Crowne's potential.

I love the Crowne experience but it will be a blizzard in Miami before I spend another dollar at this one.

Great hotel! We stayed here mid-April for 2 nights & found this the staff extremely friendly, a nice pool that wasn't over crowded w/ comfy chairs & umbrellas, pool bar & a great breakfast buffet. They were extremely careful about keeping their grouds super clean - I saw a guy powerwashing everything in sight every am. We had a fairly simple 2 Queen Bed room, free wifi, nice sized bathroom with a fridge, microwave & coffeemaker. The hotel is central to all the attractions in Orlando & International Drive. Very nice base spot to all the activities. My only comment would be to keep the pool a little cleaner, otherwise great stay!
