I stayed here 2 years ago with my family. Our ages were (at the time) 14,18,47, and 45. The room we had was amazingly comfortable, and was a suite, which made it even better. We were barely in our hotel though, because we stayed went to Disney World.
Pros: Comfortable, nice front desk, good breakfast, great view, suite, and affordable.
Cons: the route can be a long one if you get stuck in the Disney rush until I-4. Other than that, no cons!
Enjoy the stay!
Also, don't stay there if you aren't going to Disney World. Enjoy Disney though!

We stayed here for the last night of our 5 night vacation. The great thing about this hotel was that I was able to book it using 3,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points 3 nights before our stay here.
CONS: It took me about 30 minutes to check in because a guest before me booked the hotel on the wrong nights and was arguing with the front receptionist. After waiting in line, they finally had another person come to check-in folks. The gym was relatively small. It only had 1 treadmill, eliptical and bicycle. It looked like these machines were all stuffed in one tiny room with no common purpose. Definitley not a place that would make me want to work out.
PROS: The room was very spacious and clean. I think the room they gave me was a handicap room because it seemed larger than usual, had a doorbell, and had safety railing surrounding the tub in the bathroom. The kitchen was fully equipped with a small dishwasher, sink, good sized fridge, microwave and 2 burner stove. If I were to cook that night I would be fully equipped with all the needed kitchen items. The hotel was also very close to the disneyworld attractions so the location was a plus. Breakfast buffet was free and available from 7-10. I would definetly recommend this for large families vacationing to Disneyworld or for folks that have 3,000 hyatt points and want a free nights stay. Oh yeah internet access is FREE :)

I found an excellent deal on hotwire for 7 nights/8 days here along with a rental car for only $693. Couldn't splurge like on my last visit, but I have to say I was very pleased with my stay at Hawthorne Suites.
Location was easy to find, along Palm Pkwy with a bunch of other hotels. Located very close to Disneyworld. Probably about a 20 minute drive to Universal Studios if you don't get caught in too much traffic. Bright sign easy to spot, parking easy to find. Check in was a breeze and they gave me a corner room so only one person to share walls with.
Very satisfied with the room. A 1 bedroom suite with a separate area for the bedroom instead of one big studio. Had a full size fridge, 2 burners, cutlery and plates, a dishwasher and a microwave. Bed was so so comfortable especially after a long flight and being awake for just about 30 hours straight. Hot breakfast served every morning from 7-9:30. Enough to fill you up to get you through your morning in Orlando.
And for those of you who say "Why spend a little more on your hotel? You're barely going to spend time in your hotel room when you're on vacation." Well, it rained for 2 1/2 days straight when I was there. You're SOL on any of the theme parks unless you want to get drenched. So I spent 2 days holed up in my room and I was still pleased with it all.
Easy breezy checkout, took just 2 minutes. No horror stories, no finding unexpected creepy crawlies anywhere in my room. No lame resort or housekeeping fee. Or even worse, daily parking fee.

The hotel was nice, but the staff and policies make you feel like a criminal. The first thing you see in the room is a list of prices if you decide to "keep" any of the items in the room. Like I really want their alarm clock. They even have breakfast locked down. I guess so you can't take food for later in the day. The food is not allowed to leave the breakfast area even on a paper plate. They wouldn't even let me walk out the door (adjacent to the breakfast area) to my car. The front desk was very rude about it even though I didn't know it was policy. Stating if they let me walk to my car with a sausage then the rest of the guests could do whatever they wanted.

My rate is a solid 4 stars. I booked this trip 8 months in advance; we stayed here from August 27th to Labor Day. Check in was super quick the room was nice I think the ONLY thing it needed to complete it was a balcony. The breakfast buffet was okay, we only had it once. Like my boyfriend said I think it's meant more for people with kids. They have an arcade room and a room with a pool table, air hockey and foozball. The pool isn't huge and it was always packed. I personally went into the hot tub once. The first day we got there the basketball popped . We waited 2 days on the 2nd day my boyfriend bought a basketball and pump out of pocket. I noticed certain guests didn't know how to use it and just kicked the ball around.
The front desk people were always helpful though especially when we got locked out of our room twice. I'd say we would definitely come here if and when we have kids. It was close to all, you can walk to shops and restaurants. I recommend this hotel ESPECIALLY to people who have kids.

We stayed here during September when we booked a Virgin holiday to Florida to see the Disney and universal parks.
The hotel itself was in a great location, only a short car trip from Downtown Disney and close enough to local shops and restaurants for us to do something else when we needed a break away from the parks.
The room was a good size and had all the facilities that we were looking for, however it was next to the lift on the 1st floor, so we could hear the list mechanism throughout the night and first thing in the morning and being from Scotland it took a while to get used the the sound of the air conditioning unit (although without it we would have struggled).
The Buffet Breakfast was a bit of a let down, I wouldn't say it was bad as the quality was good, however the range was a bit limited and it's not what we thought it would be when we think of an American Buffet breakfast. for a two week stay we would have got really fed up with it if we hadn't popped into the IHOP for some decent american pancakes and omelettes.
The pool, which is accessible via a door beside the lift, was great when you just want to chill out and have a wee swim on a down day or just to sit on the loungers and get a bit of a tan. it wasn't busy when we were there but there's not much to do, after a short swim and a chill out, so after a short while it's time to go and do something more interesting.
We decided not to try the weekly "Meet and Greet" as we had already been approached several times over our fortnights holiday by staff trying to sell us timeshare holidays, with incentives of free trips to events and preloaded spending cards. Since we don't like the hard sell this put a real dampener on our stay and we soon tried to avoid the staff that looked like they were they were trying to promote SKY.
As it's a Disney "Good Neighbour" hotel, my better half had organised a great little surprise for me when I first went into our room as my better half had organised a birthday present delivered from Disney, which was sitting pride of place on the bed.
On a few occasions we took the bus to Universal, which was pretty basic and made a few stops on route, but it was safe and allowed us to have some drinks at Margaritavile and the rest of the CityWalk bars and restaurants without having to worry about driving later in the day.

I am so happy that I booked this hotel for my very first time here in Orlando. I will definitely come back, no doubt about it.
There is plenty of parking and it is located less than 20 minutes from Walt Disney World , also close enough to plenty of shopping spots (restaurants, souvenir shops, gyms, drugstores, gas, convenient stores, supermarkets , etc)
The front desk staff is AMAZING. They go out of their way to help you out and make your stay much more comfortable. I chose the room with the kitchen and it's perfect for a family of 5 ( although it was just my daughter and I). I did not find anything wrong with the room. It was perfectly equipped with everything that we needed. Had two flat screen tvs and a DVD player. One sofa bed and one couch as well as a dining room table. Beds are clean and comfortable. The cleaning ladies are wonderful and truly take their time cleaning the room.
This hotel has a laundry room on the second floor for guest to use. They do sell Tide laundry detergent and Bounce dryer sheets there.
Breakfast is not bad at all. A previous Yelp user mentioned that he couldn't take the food out of the dining area ( that is a rule on EVERY hotel that offers free complimentary breakfast). For the complementary breakfast that I have had in other places this one was one of the better ones I've ever had. They keep the dining area clean and organized.
My daughter loved the pool, it is small, but little kids don't really care about those things.
I am very impressed with this hotel and I cannot wait to come back. Thank you for making my first visit to Orlando so memorable.
