If you're going to Orlando, you might want to consider another hotel before choosing this one..
Although the hotel was well situated in the heart of International Drive, it is not very convenient...
First off, traffic is insane and the hotel seems to be overcrowded...
Service was slow, the clerk took forever to even acknowledge me and they gave us the last room in a hallway in the 5th floor...
The room was ok and rather comfortable but the hallways were smelly...
Breakfast was "ok", but they didn't seem to have enough food for all the guests and the service was horrible...
Sunday breakfast was insanely crowded and the staff didn't clean fast enough...
They do offer free wi-fi, which is always a plus!
Upon check out, they slipped the wrong bill under my door and I took it to the front desk, where they assured me my credit card would not be charged... it turns out, it was charged almost $90 and it took over three weeks for them to credit it back...
All in all.. not a very good experience... and I would never stay here again...
Good thing there are so many hotels in Orlando!

Ok here for a couple of days not my first trip here ,for work I like it actually clean nice people. Only major problem if you need to work on your computer the wireless is just bad bad. Can not imagine a slower connection that comes and goes. Other than that a good place to stay.

Just returned from a trip to Orlando.  We spent a week at the Holiday Inn Express.  I agree with other reviews in that the traffic is a problem, but that's not the hotel's fault.  You would have that same issue at any establishment on International Drive.

For the price, the rooms were very nice, comfortable, and well worth the price.  The hotel provided a shuttle to all the theme parks, which we took advantage of several times.  The staff was extremely friendly.  Kudos to them all.  The entire facility was not smelly, at least not in the way one review had listed.  If anything, you could say it was over sanitized, as the smell of freshner was abundant throughout.

Areas for improvement:  The pool area needs new chairs.  Many were broken.  Otherwise the pool was nice.  Don't get me wrong, it's not a huge resort pool, but again, for the price, it was nice.  The elevators were extremely slow.  Not sure how they can fix that, but something they might want to look into. The "free" breakfast was good.  The only issue was that they ran out of tables fast.  I did see on the last day that they opened up the conference room for overflow, so good job.

So, you may ask why 4-Stars.  The answer is quite simple.  This place was reasonably priced, great rooms, awesome staff.  Compared with other hotels I've stayed at, this place was above par.  I'd recommend it to any family visiting Orlando and looking for a place to sleep.  You can walk to many resturants and gift shops.  Avoid peak tourist hours and the highway traffic won't be too bad.

For what we needed, a place to sleep and rest, this was an excellent choice.

Fantastic retreat for a quick business trip... A mini oasis from the craziness of IDrive. Was here on a Sunday night and the hotel wasnt busy at all. Located right across from Universal Studios and within a five minute drivers pretty much anything you may want treat for dinner. Free wifi and super friendly staff.

I stayed here on the last day of a business trip, as it was close to the airport.  Overall the size of the room was great, although the set up could be improved.  I was pleased to see a fridge already cold, and a microwave, but their placement was not well thought out.  I like to watch tv while sitting at the desk doing work, and there was no way to do this as the fridge and mircowave blocked the viewing.  The room had two queen size beds, the tv was centered in front of one bed, so I  slept there, again I was puzzled why they didn't put it in the center of the two beds so it could easily be viewed by both.  There was no free electrical outlet by the bed, this was annoying.  I don't like relying on a hotel clock radio to wake me, I like to program my phone, but keep it on the charge cord so it doesn't run out of power.  The one outlet on the wall had the light and clock plugged in.  Most hotels have a lamp with a power outlet, this one did not.  They offered Bath & Body shampoos and lotion, glad I brought my own - they were way too scented for my taste.  Room was very clean, and staff very pleasant.  Nice selection for breakfast, and coffee was good.  I had to drive to a restaurant, or order pizza in, disappointed there was nothing close.  There is however a gas station and convenience center right next door.

Good hotel, bad area.  Taking one star away for that, as it's not a place we'd come back to.  But the hotel is clean, the breakfast is fine for what you'd expect for complimentary, and the beds were comfortable.  And it was safe, too, and set back off International Drive a little.  Not an area I want to walk around after dark...the standard tattoo and liquor stores are all over the place, including right across the street.

I had never stayed in such a clean, nice, large room hotel for this price! You cant beat location either, walking distance to restaurants and many other places. The room even had a kitchenette and living room area. Will definitely stay here again soon!

Staying here to attend a conference nearby, and have thoughts for consideration before booking here again.

It's rather hard to find, as it's address is I Drive but it's down a little alley between stores, and back a little ways. Definitely google earth it first.

They offer a nice breakfast, and the rooms are very clean. Housekeeping staff are helpful and polite.

The pool is beautiful, and is a salt water pool on the western side of hotel. The water was very brisk yesterday afternoon at 2 pm in mid-October. If it's heated they haven't turned it on yet. Young children would not be happy campers! Or anyone looking forward to an afternoon in a pretty pool in Orlando near Universal & Disney.

The business center is conveniently located, with two computers & two printers. The printers don't work though, so you need to go to the desk to login and retrieve info to print. If guests are checking in, you have to wait until the clerk is available.

The wifi in the room only works half the time. If you need to access corporate network for work, better not try it here or you'll pull your last hair out.

I like Yelp because you can usually find a current review of a business & move forward with some input from customers, not marketing people trying to fling praises out there. Buyer beware I say.

So, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites is perfect for an overnight stay, but you might want to invest a couple more $ for a hotel offering a little more to suit extended stays.

Nice place to come to if your headed to Universale. They upgraded me for free to the Presidential suite as I am a Platinum member. Its close to the highway so you can hear road noise but its not to bad. walking distance to shops and restaurants.

Came here with my girlfriend, got a little more than I expected for a $105/night hotel room (after taxes and fees. Was originally $90/night.)

Things started off pretty bad though. Upon checking in, we walked over to the elevators, to find one of the two elevators not only out of order, but also gushing water flowing from beneath it. It looked like a fire hydrant had blown underneath it. Almost a scary sight to see, really.

With one of the two elevators out of order, it took about 15-20 minutes to go up 4 floors (couldn't take stairs, as we had plenty of luggage to bring up...women...). But the elevator was up and running the next day, so A-Ok there.

The room was....just okay. It was medium sized, so not too bad. The upholstery was VERY worn on the furniture. Pretty badly. The bed was comfy though. The water was only lukewarm most times we showered (a complaint I heard from many of the other guests, too.) I loved the cold A/C though. It was just glorious.

The best issue I had, was that Holiday Inn charged an extra $100 to my debit card, without ever informing us about it. A big deal ? To me, not really. But a lot of people (myself and girlfriend included) have a budget system set up when they go on vacation. This charge could have set someone way over their budgeted amount for their trip, or even worse, caused their bank accounts to be over drafted when other bills started being deducted automatically. Trips are ALL about planning....this would've been a nice thing to plan for.

Breakfast was incredible though. So many options. It was easily the best continental breakfast I've ever had, by a long shot. Also nice, the fact you don't have to pay for parking and there's also no bogus "resort fees".

My last complaint was the housekeeping. They cleaned and organized VERY well. It almost hurts me to have to bring up a con here, but housekeeping threw something away that I had on a countertop in the bathroom. It was just an empty bottle, but it was clearly drying out, as I had a paper towel underneath it to catch water mess. It was I bottle for my e-liquid for my electronic cigarette. I really needed that. They left the moldy, rotten bananas, but tossed my labeled e-liquid bottle. I was pretty unhappy about that. But that's my only complaint with the housekeeping. Keep your valuables secured!

Overall, I recommend this place if this is all you can find (which happened to my girlfriend and I). But personally, I won't be back here. At least not willingly. I gave 3 stars mainly for the superb breakfast. Basically, this hotel reminded me of the old days where you could get a $60/night or less hotel room at the Holiday Inn (and $39.99 at motel 6 lol) except it's not $60/night....it's $100+ !!

My boyfriend and I were planning a trip to Orlando and spent a week trying to find the right hotel.. our criteria included free wifi, free parking, free breakfast. This Holiday Inn met 2/3. The so-called free wifi was slower than dial-up. They had a good variety of breakfast items and the cinnamon rolls were delicious.

Our first impression of the hotel was smell of gas through the building and a broken elevator (water was gushing out of said elevator while attendants tried to fix it). When the elevators were working, they were quite slow. At first site, the hotel room was decent.. then I found a pubic hair on the toilet seat and the chair in the room was ripped up. The hallways lacked a/c.. coming from a person who enjoys being in the heat.

Some days housekeeping would skip out on leaving some of the toiletry items (i.e. moisturizer). They were never consistent with the cleaning times.. sometimes they would be making noise up and down the hallways at 10 am and other times our room was not ready by 4pm. Housekeeping also had the tendency to throw away certain items that were not trash (aka they weren't anywhere near the trash can).

All in all, we will not be spending money on this hotel again, nor would I recommend anyone else to do the same.

I had a wonderful stay here while I was visiting Universal Studios. I had a fantastic visit. I was greeted by Doris after calling to check about an early check in. She was super friendly and helped me in every way possible.  She was honestly the most wonderful part of my stay! She was sooo sweet and helpful! When I go back I'll be planning on giving them my business, great breakfast, help, workers, and shuttle services.
