i really liked this hotel. it's business-class focused, but many families stay because of its proximity to universal studios and disney world.

first, a warning...two warnings. the cabbies in orlando, at least the half dozen or so i encountered while there for three days, are dicks. some of the most unfriendly sons of bitches ive ever caught a ride from. anyway, so when i grabbed a cab outside the orlando airport, i told the cabbie i was staying at "hyatt place orlando." he asked which one. confused, i grabbed my confirmation and gave him the EXACT address. he said "on universal or near universal?" this statement meant nothing to me, so i said, "ahhh, i don't know. i'm not really from here." and gave him the exact address again. we rode in silence and he asked me to clarify which hyatt again. i said, i would call them to ask if they were "on universal or near universal," whatever that meant.
i called and got an automated system that stated a longer name for the hotel that included a "universal" in there somewhere. i repeated the name exactly to the cabbie and asked "does that make sense to you? does that clarify which hotel?" he said yes.
as we drove along, he sort of explained in heavily accented and broken english what the clarification was for. from what i could decipher, there was a hyatt place on a Universal road, drive or street (or something) and a hyatt place that was near Universal Studios. ahhh.
anyway, damn cabbie still took me to the wrong hotel, where i tried to check in and the girl told me blankly, "you're at the wrong hotel." not "i'm sorry," or with a twinge of sympathy. but she wrangled me another cab since mine absocnded into the night with my $50 (including a 20 percent tip he clearly didn't deserve - damn my white guilt!) and i made it the five miles to the correct hotel of the same exact name.
here, the desk clerks were super friendly and helpful. the lobby was clean and modernly renovated with a starbucks-supplied (not operated) cafe/bar area and dining/sitting area.
the room had a sweet, 50-inch flat screen, hi def tv (with about 20 of the standard hotel channels). when my cable apparently went out, i called down to the desk and they promptly sent up their maintenence guy to fix it. which he did quickly and was really very pleasant.
the free breakfast was a nice spread - bagels and english muffins for toasting, good take with you fruit like bananas and apples, cereal, and cut melon mix. real plates and silverware and places to sit with your food - nice.
the front desk girl even gave me two bandaids for my poor blistered feet. it was a good stay.

Great hotel.  Price reasinable, close to Universal. Staff very friendly, showed us around when we arrived.  Very helpful.  Room was very big and the beds were great!

Rooms were smelled stuffy.  The first room so much that I asked for another room.  I woke up with a bloody nose in that room and not because it was dry air.  Left and went to another chain.  The staff was courteous and friendly which was the best part of the hotel.

Good, mid-tier lodging at the right price.  Rooms have large seating areas with a sofa, mounted flatscreen TVs and the staff was very helpful.  After a long day at Disney or Universal, you can sit and have a drink in the lobby bar which is converted to a coffee bar in the morning.  Great lodging place if you're visiting Universal and it's not too far from Disney.

The rooms are larger than a typical hotel room.  It was clean and the beds were comfortable.  The staff is very courteous and very helpful.

The hotel includes a Continental breakfast with the option to purchase bacon and eggs and other breakfast items. Snacks, sandwiches, burgers and pizza are available if you check in late and want something to eat.  The food is tasty and packed so that you can take it to your room.

The hotel is close to Universal and seems to be popular with families and school groups.

The major problem with this hotel is that they do not have enough tables and chairs and not enough space in the breakfast area and lobby to accommodate the number of people who are in the hotel.  When they open the meeting room for breakfast there is still not enough space for all the guests.  I was stayed over a weekend and do not know if breakfast is as crowded during the week.

I like this new concept of a limited service hotel very much. It fits what I am needing for a hotel quite nicely.  My convention is at the Rosen Shingle Creek resort but they were sold out. So I diverted here for the alternative.  This has been the second Hyatt Place that I have stayed at and it has been pretty consistent.

The decor in the lobby is like a Starbucks. There are couches everywhere with tables and chairs so people can hang out.  There's a nook w/ TV as well as an internet cafe.  Free continental breakfast with a good spread of fruit, cereals, bagels, toast...etc from 6:30am to 9:30am. Extended slightly on the weekends.

The rooms have an L-shaped couch with a leather ottoman, 42-inch flat screen plasma, Grand bed and free wifi.  Kinda nice! There's even a wet bar, refrigerator and work station which is pretty comfy.

Now with limited service hotels, there isn't a full restaurant. But there is a cafe which you can buy some cold/hot items from 24-7.  No room service here.  And the toilet/shower/tub does have a separating door. The sink is in the bedroom area?  I guess its like a large studio apt w/o the kitchen.

These were former Amerisuites before Hyatt acquired them...so they are being quickly phased into these Hyatt Place properties.  Look for them in slightly not metro areas for a great affordable, but plush surroundings.  $149 can't be beat in my opinion when the other hotels were close to $350.

I was quite pleased with the hotel and its location.  I was here on business and was trying to avoid staying on the main drag (International Dr) next to the convention center and all the tourist attractions (but all of Orlando is just that... ugh!).
Rooms were roomy with a simi-seperate living room.  Beds and linens were nice and comfy.  Bathroom amenities were minimal.  Cleaning service was not so fresh and borderline sufficient.
The coffee, tea and wine bar was convenient.  Free parking and access to computer and printer if you left yours at home.
This is a good place and value if your traveling on business.

It's a good hotel for the price. The rooms were clean and spacious but the bathroom was on the small side. But like I said, for the price you can't beat it! The reason I didn't give it a higher rating was because I requested a king size bed when I made the reservation but when I got to the hotel, they said that they didn't have any rooms with the king size bed available. It was strange because there was only about 20 cars in the parking lot.  But I did see a lot of construction workers walking in the lobby.

This is a great place. Walking distance from universal (15 min) very clean. Breakfast is good. Staff very helpful. I liked it. The only reason it did not get a 5 is it has no restaurant and only 2 shuttles per day for universal studios . For the price you can't go wrong. This is not a 5 star place but clean and does the job. .

Stayed 9 days - Nice clean hotel - the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Positives:
*42 inch HD tv
* refrigerator in room
* pillow top mattress (comfortable)
* big comfortable sleeper sofa
* close to universal studios (2 mins by car)
* next door to a TGI Friday and a Creaker Barrel
* room service (decent menu)
* cookies and muffins available all night to satisfy your late night cravings
* Starbucks coffee offered

Negatives:
*During my stay a car had items stolen out of it during the night because it was not locked.
*Small bathroom in room
*Small swimming pool
*"Weak" free continental breakfast (oatmeal, fruit and toast)
* Bar (bottle beer and wine only)
* No washer and dryer on property had to use Holiday Inn's next door

I would recommend staying at this hotel and would stay here again.  Just lock your car!

When one considers price, quality, amenities, unique atmosphere, and its distance to Universal Orlando Resort, this is probably the single best choice for someone who wants to book a Universal Orlando Vacation but can't quite swing the cost of the on-site hotels.

If you've never been in a Hyatt Place before, prepared to be impressed.  The hotel's modern, boutique style and feel immediately strikes you as you walk in the door.  Approaching the check-in counter you'll be thinking "there's something different about this place, and I like it.  I like it a lot."

Don't interpret what I'm saying the wrong way.  This is a three-diamond hotel, so it isn't going to have high end, resort-level amenities like a huge, themed pool area.  However, given the price and its size, it really is a gem: complimentary breakfast, signature cocktails, suite-style rooms with innovative layouts, and more.  Check out all the other reviews to learn more about the hotel's particulars.

I just want to add that, other than the Doubletree and Holiday Inn nearby, this is the closest hotel to Universal.  If you want to book a property within walking distance, this is a great option.  Depending on the stoplights it might take you 16 minutes or so to get over to CityWalk, but you can definitely do it.  Hyatt Place is also a Universal Bonus Benefits hotel, so if you stay here you'll get discounts on food, beverages, and merchandise throughout the resort.  You can visit Universal Orlando Vacations website to learn more: res.universalorlandovaca…

Really the only downside to this hotel is its proximity to dining and entertainment other than Universal.  There is a Cracker Barrel and a TGIF in the neighborhood.  However, other than those venues, the area is pretty desolate--especially when you compare it to everything over on International Drive.

We stayed here last week for 4 nights visiting Universal Orlando and it was great!  We had 2 kids (7 and 5) with us and they loved it as well.  The hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful.  Their free continental breakfast is OUTSTANDING.

We got a very nice, quick tour, of the amenities and what to expect.  It's a very relaxing hotel.  Didn't feel out of place at all.  Everyone made us feel at home.

The room was fantastic and had a modern, chic, appeal to it.. The flat-screen is HUGE as everyone says.  For vacationing in the area, this is more than plenty.  They rooms were made everyday and fresh towels provided and bed made to perfection.  We opted to have the bed linens and towels changed everyday, but you can opt-out if you are "green"..with kids we didn't have much of a choice.  They also have free wi-fi for all your gadets at the hotel also.

They offer a breakfast menu, but no need..trust me..it's plentiful..and free.  They have fruit, toast, bagels, donuts, cereal, milk, juice, coffee (think I'm missing a few items) that you can eat.  They also offer a menu of you need one.

The offer a free shuttle service to Universal Orlando.  We didn't use one as we needed access to the car (just in case).  But if you want to save $15 for parking, this is another option.  The walk to the gates is FAR from the hotel..not kidding.  If you have kids, either take the shuttle or park.

Otherwise, this is THE place to stay for vacationing in the area!!

Who would have thought that one could have such an enjoyable stay at this ity bity hotel! This hotel is rediculously close to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures.....so close that you can walk to the parks from your hotel. You could......we didn't....lol but they even have a shuttle service that takes you over to the parks. I still have no idea how much they charge, and even though its probably free, we always tipped them well. No embarrassing cargo-style van here, we were escorted in a Lincoln Town Car which was refreshingly surprising. I would expect this if I was staying at the waldorf but I was overwealmed at how attentive everyone was. I have to commend and thank Yalaida Rivero for her kind attention to my party. This young lady happens to be the Assistant General Manager.

Next time I decide to take off to Islands of Adventures, I won't think twice about staying here. I've stayed at some of the finest hotels in the world ranging from the St Regis to the Biltmore, and I'm happy to report that as far as customer service goes: the Hyatt Place is in my top 5 best experiences.

ill list the pros and cons and then explain afterward...

PROS:
Pretty decent size room, the bed is comfy, mini fridge, big TV, free shuttle to universal which is right across the street, free breakfast (cereal, bagels, juice.. just the basics. Eggs and stuff are extra)

CONS:
Tiny pool, dirty pool, and.. TAKING MONEY OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION

So, you might be wondering.. what does she mean by the last con she listed. ( i guess con can be used in more than one way right now). Well.. here is a very very long story short...
I booked my hotel atleast 7 months in advance. I paid in full right when i made the reservation (over $500).. shortly after they double charged it. Okay... i get it, people make mistakes. But, naturally, i was irritated.. that is a lot of money. Not to mention i used my debit card so it came straight out of my checking account. So, they fixed it. Refunded it within 48 hours. Alright. Great...

I finally get to my vacation spot. They ask for my card at check-in. I ask why and stated i pre-paid everything and they said for incidentals. I said "so you arent going to charge anything to my card other than using it for insurance?" he assured me they wouldnt.. One day after i arrived.. they put through a $50 unauthorized charge. I talked to a manager... they didnt know why they did it and reversed it. And apologized...

.... a day after that they again charged my card. UNAUTHORIZED. for almost $90. This time they said they wouldnt be able to give it back to me for 4 business days.. which happens to be the day i am GOING HOME. I didnt have enough money for anything i wanted to do my last 2 days of vacation. AND i was celebrating my 2 year anniversary.

SO.. they caused stress throughout my whole trip... ruined 2 nights/days...

NO one wants that to happen on a VACATION. you take time off work and put $$ into it.. sorry, i said "long story short" but it became pretty long. So there ya go!

PS.. harry potter exhibit.. AMAZINNNNGGGGG!

Happy travels!

Loved the location!  So close to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures.  There is a free shuttle that departs 2x (I think) in the morning and returns you back from the park to the hotel.

I loved everything about Hyatt Place and here are the highlights:

- friendly hotel staff
- clean hotel rooms
- free WI FI (big plus!)
- free business computer area with a printer
- complementary breakfast with the option to order other items
- full size couch with an ottoman in the room
- free parking (we requested a ground floor and parked right outside our room!)
- swimming pool
- refrigerator
- Walgreen's near by (about a 3 min drive)
- close to outlet mall shopping & mall of millenia

One thing I wish Hyatt Place had is a laundry area.  I was traveling for 2 weeks would of loved to have washed some clothes while I was away.  This is minor though and doesn't have any negative impact on my stay and I would definitely stay here again!!

This place has lots of pros and a few cons. I cannot comment on the value since I used bonus miles to pay for the night.

Cons: Check in was kinda lame. Only two computers, but 4 desk agents... bad planning for when its busy. It was busy.
Ice only on the 3rd floor. The second wake up call never came, some issues with the door locks and a tub that wouldn't drain...

Pros: oversized room, great comfy king size bed, all non-smoking, easy location by the interstate. Free breakfast (heavy on the carbs) with proteins available to order. Cracker Barrel next door if you want a serious breakfast. The room layout is really well designed with above average materials and a really nice layout. The TV has an entire input panel for sound, games, mp3 players - etc. Free wifi was flawless. 2pm check out if you join their passport club thing. 24 hr onsite Starbucks and food at the front desk. Pool. Business center. I'd definitely stay here again.

We had to stay one more night in Orlando that I had no reservations for. We walked in the hotel around 6:00pm on a Monday evening and the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Gave me a great rate and checked us in immediately.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel, as it was my first time staying at a Hyatt Place. It reminds me of a contemporary Courtyard. We loved having the flat screen HDTV's and modular couches. The room was large and had plenty of space for a family of four to stay several days comfortably, They have complimentary wi-fi and continental breakfast with cereals, fruit and breads. You could order hot food for additional fees that were reasonable. Though we were only here overnight, I noticed that it would have been a convenient location for visiting Universal and other local attractions and the hotel offered a free shuttle to Universal and SeaWorld. There was also TGI Fridays and Cracker Barrel next door that you could walk to. We actually ordered the best flatbread pizza and sandwich from Flippers Pizzeria and they delievered promptly to our room with nice hot food! All in all a great value hotel in a nice location near International Drive.

This location for the Hyatt Place is conveniently located across the street from Universal Orlando.  The layout is just like all the rest, but in my opinion that is a good thing.  They do offer a free shuttle to the parks in the morning which is a nice feature and if you miss it, you are only looking at a $6 cab ride to get there.  The criticism is the layout for the breakfast area - this works fine for the typical business traveler, but at this location with families and children it becomes quite cramped and is less than ideal.  Just keep that in mind and don't plan on hanging out in the lobby and you will do well here.

I have to start by saying that I ended up staying at this property for a different reason than most.  Because of its proximity to Universal Orlando, people tend to stay there for their vacation/holiday. I actually live approximately 15 minutes from the property.  My daughter was quite ill, in fact she was discharged from the hospital that morning.  She was ill to the point, I found it necessary to begin a sanitation process on our entire home, rendering everything damp and smelling of chemical antiseptics.  Indeed, it had been a long day.
Upon entering the lobby, we were immediately greeted by Michael and one of his coworkers.  Michael was AWESOME.  He exemplifies EVERYTHING I have come to expect, as far as Hyatt customer service.  He went out of his way for us, indeed, above and beyond.
The room was very nice.  Comfortable beds, a lovely living area, with ample room to entertain, or let kids run around, or in the case of my ailing little one, make a b-line for the bed.  It was only after I pulled back the blankets to adjust her little body that I noticed there was an issue.  Upon pulling back the bedding, I noticed hair (very noticeable and thick...yeah, I know...gross).  As I wondered what my next move was, I noticed two room keys on the floor.  These were room keys from ANOTHER resort.  Honestly, I should have kept them and attempted to embark on a mini impromptu vacay.  I went to the vanity area (which is lovely, by the way) to equip myself with tissue to remove the hair.  I then noticed that the shampoo was half full.  Good thing that I had already washed both halves of my head.  These factors were only concerning because it makes you wonder a little bit about the level of sanitation of the entire room.  However, the rest of the room was acceptable, and my little one was not up for a room change, as the elevator might as well have been a high octane thrill-ride as far as my daughter was concerned (not her favorite thing).
The only other experience I had at the property before sleeping was ordering from the Gallery menu.  The menu offers an array of platters (humus, fruit, crackers), soups, salads, entrees, desserts, and beverages.  It had awesome selections and even more amazing, it is available 24/7!  I REALLY enjoyed my burger, and my daughter enjoyed what she was able to eat as well.
My only issue aside from the housekeeping snafus was my checkout.  It was ho-hum and that is an extremely kind assessment.  The agent wouldn't help me retrieve my passport number, nor did he address any of the housekeeping issues I told him about.  Underwhelmed, I grabbed a paper and enjoyed the hot breakfast, which is included in the rate.  It was great!  I had a breakfast biscuit with eggs, gouda cheese and bacon.  It was very flavorful.  They also had a great selection of cereal and juice for my daughter.
Though unfortunate circumstances brought me to the hotel, I enjoyed my time there.  It was very peaceful and nice.  I have also stayed at one in Ft. Lauderdale, but I enjoyed this stay more.  I would have given 5 stars were it not for the few issues. Kudos.

THIS JUST IN:  The Assistant General Manager contacted me personally to resolve my issues in a very professional manner.  More Kudos!

My friend and I went to Orlando to get our nerd on.  Our love for Harry Potter lies somewhere between a childlike sense of wonder for magic and a serious distortion of reality that deserves medical attention.  It also didn't help our delusions that many of the tourists at the Harry Potter portion of the park were from the UK.  It felt so real.

Anyway...back to the Hyatt.

Great deal.  Great location.  Amazing customer service.

*The location is perfect (Right across from the Universal parks and CityWalk).

*Free hot breakfast (The breakfast sammys were my jam).

*Free Shuttle (That said, you may want to get there on your own if you have a 'get in early' pass to Islands of Adventure because the shuttle didn't really leave the hotel until 8:10ish and the park opens at 8 for those with an early pass).

*Free WiFi

The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable.

Out of all the wonderful things about this Hyatt Place, the biggest pro is the hotel staff.  Everyone is beyond helpful and genuinely friendly.  While everyone was great, my favorite person was Debbie!  She works at the front desk in the morning/afternoon.  My friend and I are two outgoing girls in our early twenties.  Debbie reminded us to be careful, referred to the movie 'Taken' with Liam Neeson and reiterated how serious she was when I laughed.

I never felt unsafe, but definitely felt a lot safer knowing that Debbie was keeping an eye on us and would call in the SWAT team and Mr. Neeson if my friend and I didn't come back after a night of dancing at 'The Groove' with a dude from Orlando and a guy from Brazil who was studying abroad in North Dakota.

All in all - great place, great staff!  Stay there and Potter On!

Rooms are big and nice and comfortable. But the service sucked. The guy at the for desk was rude. When I called to order food from the restaurant he said he had no idea when he'd be able to get to that because he was busy doing our tasks. He also refused to bring the food up to the room and said I'd have to come to get it myself, which I had no problem doing so but I didn't appreciate his tone of voice. When I went to get the food, he messed up he order. Was frustrating.

Stayed here Memorial weekend for Disney's Star Wars weekend.  Definitely a geek weekend!  I have stayed at the Double Tree on Kirkman in the past, which is about the same price, however they now charge $15/day to park your car, so I decided to try a hotel next door.  Wow, the Hyatt Place was a great find!!  $110.00 per night.

Cheers:
- very clean hotel, with a modern interior
- very friendly and helpful customer service
- free wifi
- AWESOME complimentary breakfast(one of the best for a comp bfast)
- awesome big screen tv
- free shuttles to Universal.
- walking distance to City Walk

Jeers:
- i forgot to request a king sized bed so there were two double beds in the room.  It was a bit to tight for too adults, so we ended up sleeping in separate beds.
- this is just being picky, but the elevators are slow.  I requested a top room (7th floor) facing Universal to catch the night time fireworks, which I highly recommend to anyone staying here.  Unfortunately, at 8am in the morning we went to get in the elevator to hit the breakfast and it took about 8 minutes for the elevator to get to our floor and them 7 more to get to the lobby, stoping at almost every floor.  Granted it was Memorial weekend, so the hotel was bustling.
- pool small, no whirlpool

Summary:
You could stay at a cheaper, discount hotel 10-15 min drive away, but we wanted to be next door to City Walk and avoid the parking costs at the theme parks.  We also like a clean, neat hotel, so the extra cost was well worth it.  Compared to the Double Tree, Hyatt Place is just as clean, a bit smaller, free wifi, and you get a fabulous breakfast for free. This hotel is an awesome deal considering its location and features.

Terrible place. It is equivalent to an outdated motel 6. I travel about once a month and this wins for the worst hotel in about four years. Every time the room next door took a shower, it woke me up.  I am on day three with dirty dishes in the room and this morning there was no hot water.  I complained to the front desk and they said they would compensate for a day but later that evening the manager said he would do nothing for me. I went up to take a shower and was pelted with debris from the dirty hot water line. Makes you wonder what is in the free breakfast. I think I will skip that tomorrow
Bottom line is that it is an old hotel with rude management. Orlando has hundreds of hotels so do not stay here.

I stayed at the Hyatt Place Universal for a bachelorette party, and was incredibly pleased with the hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly, and did everything to make our stay great.

The room was very clean, and incredibly spacious. I love having a couch and refrigerator in the room at no extra charge. The sink and vanity area is nice and big, and can easily accomodate a couple people getting ready simultaneously. The best are comfortable, however they are doubles and not queens, so having more than one person sleep in them would be pretty tight.

The contintental breakfast was very good. There were cereals, steal cout oatmeal, french toast, and egg sandwiches. There was also donuts, yogurt, cottage cheese, and english muffins. I think it was a great spread, especially since it was a contintental breakfast. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to friends!

In these tough economic times... and even if you are rolling in it, I think this place is a perfect home base on a visit to Universal Studios.

Pros:
Location, location, location: Literally across the street from Universal entrance. You could walk to the guest drop-off area (long streets; 10-15 min walk.)  Immediately upon arrival, I asked about a taxi and the front desk dispatched a mini bus they use for guests and we paid $6 for a quick drop-off. Perfectly convenient. Saved huge on parking.  After the park, getting to/from everywhere else in the area is easy. Int'l Drive is a block away.

Value, value value: Shop around online to get the best deals. I found a promo on Expedia and booked a room for under $95 including tax, on a weekend. Rooms have 2 doubles or a king plus a full-size pull out couch. Perfect for a family of 4+.  Clean, comfortable. Free, easy to access WiFi, everywhere.

Service - plus: Extremely attentive staff, especially for a budget property. Every request fulfilled - quickly and with a smile. Kiosk up front makes self check in/out easy if you need it.

Cons: Negligible. Rooms definitely on the small side, but more than acceptable given the price and all other Pros.  (FYI: the double beds are cramped for 2 adults; bathroom area tight if you have special needs.)

All in all, a great place to stay.

We did not have a good geographic grasp of Orlando's layout when booking this hotel. Had we known that the Hyatt Place was nestled in an island of big name hotels surrounded by a sea of highways, we would have booked elsewhere. This is a good spot to book a hotel if you are going to Universal Studios but don't want to book a room on the resorts.

The good: Hotel staff was great. Super friendly, very informative and helpful. They get 5 stars!

The bad:

The "a.m. skillet" breakfast was incredibly over-hyped. We arrived at the kitchen about 20 minutes after breakfast service had started and found a plate of cold scrambled eggs, some boxed cereal, stale pastries, bad coffee, and a complete absence of forks. Either the breakfast sandwiches plastered all over their signs were not yet done cooking, or they simply weren't coming. We looked around the completely full dining area, however, and saw that everyone else was in the same situation as us so I assume the sandwiches were late to the table. At any rate, we forced down a few bites and quickly decided to go elsewhere for breakfast instead.

The room itself (standard king room) was spacious, but in a really weird way. We had a huge living room, a little desk alcove, a nice sized bed area, and then the tiniest bathroom I have ever seen in a hotel. There was just enough room for a toilet and a cramped shower (with towel racks IN the shower since they would not fit anywhere else).

Side note: If you like water pressure, Hyatt Place has thoughtfully hooked their shower heads up to fire hydrants for your scouring pleasure.

Noise level: You would think the walls and doors were made out of rice paper. We could hear every footstep in the hall, every TV show watched, every conversation with crystal clarity. When the people across the hall from us opened their door, ours would rattle, too, so it constantly sounded like someone was trying to get into our room.

For a very moderately priced hotel, this Hyatt hits it out of the park with free breakfast, parking and high speed Internet.

It's an excellent place to bring the family - we were two adults and two kids, and were comfortable for the single night we stayed. Our room was a king with pullout that the kids had no trouble falling asleep on. Large flat screen tv and a clean fridge are two features that we were also very happy to take advantage of.

Pro tip: this hotel doesn't have room service, but they have an ample room service menu you can order from and then go down to pick it up yourself. I had no problem with this.

If you're planning to visit Universal then you really can't beat this location, either. Last but certainly not least, the staff is super friendly and helpful with everything. This is overall an excellent experience and I would freely recommend staying here.

I stayed in the Hyatt Place for a week with two friends during a Universal Orlando/Disneyworld trip. We were looking for a nice-ish hotel that wasn't going to break the bank. And we found it.

First, the rooms are HUGE. We had plenty of space with three of us in the same room. And the great thing was that the big flat screen TV could swivel and face either the bed area or the sitting area. The vanity area was also big enough with sufficient mirror space for three girls to get ready at once. The beds were comfortable and I slept like a rock every night.

The check-in staff was polite and helpful, which was nice because we were all a little grumpy from hunger and the fact that we had been on a red-eye flight all night.

The hotel had free breakfast, which is always a plus. The breakfast itself was just a standard continental breakfast which is never really anything to write home about, but it was free so I wasn't complaining. The parking and wi-fi were also free, which was nice for a hotel so close to a major tourist attraction.

The hotel also had a free shuttle service that went to Universal Orlando and back for hotel guests. But the park is also within walking distance (probably somewhere around 3/4 of a mile), so we only used the shuttle our first morning there.

The only downside was how slow the elevators were. The hotel itself was probably only 4-5 stories high, but after hitting the button, it would take the elevator a couple minutes to return to the main floor or whatever floor you were on. Some mornings, we'd get to the elevators, one of us would realize we'd forgotten our sunglasses or something, and we'd have time to run back to the room and grab whatever it was and make it back before the elevator got there. So a lot of the time, we just took the stairs.

I would definitely stay in the Hyatt Place again though. For the price and the location, it just can't be beat.

Best Hotel I ever stayed at! I didn't want to leave ! Water slides and rockcliming and even boat rides in the lake. Amazing view from back of the whole resort and you can even see Disney World Next Door. Rooms are very modern  Defiantly will visit again!

Went here for a business meeting. Had a top floor room. The rooms are modern, great facilities and great bathrooms. The service by the front desk was fantastic. The location is ideal for area attractions, ...

We ended up here as part of Costco Travel package for Universal Studios. The rooms were surprisingly big and the flat screen tv had to be at least 60 inches. The front desk attendants were very helpful and really there were only two complaints about the room:

1. We were at the end next to a pretty loud ice machine.
2. There were hairs all in the towels from the housekeepers. Gross.

Overall though it was nice to have free breakfast and to have a free shuttle to get you to Universal. It was only across the street so you probably could've walked if you wanted, but after walking around the park all day the last thing you want to do is more walking to get back to the room.

Nice friendly staff especially one younger red headed young man.  Had amazon ship packages there had nonissue retrieving.  Even left a message that my package arrived.  Rooms nice, clean and beds were comfortable.  Breakfast was excellent and a nice big area.  Although it is close to universal I would not recommend walking there especially you are tight on time.  It is not far from mellinia mall which is a great shopping mall but not friendly to the pocket if you shop at Tiffany's

Saved by Hyatt Place.
Literally - this happened today.
A business trip gone sour...flights cancelled and a front desk team that was nimble, accommodating and literally saved the day.

If recommend this property to anyone looking for a great solution for business travel - convenient Orlando location, ample parking, immaculate yet boutique-feel lobby. This brand gets better and better and team like this make the difference!!!!

I stayed here using my annual free night on my Hyatt Credit Card.

I really liked the location of the hotel relative to Universal Orlando, the lack of a resort fee, and the free shuttle to the park.  I also like that they had free breakfast (it was just ok).

The room was good enough although the air conditioner was rather noisy.

I hated the $35 charge to my credit card from them which was put there "in error".  I recieved a refund after calling them about it.  I wonder how many other folks recieve such charges.

There was also an issue with their shuttle service procedure.  I was never informed that I needed a ticket to board the shuttle when I checked in to the hotel.  As a result I simply pleaded with the shuttle drivers to let me on.

Great hotel!

Staff - always warm, friendly and accommodating.
Room - clean, comfortable and the layout (double room with "cozy corner") was perfect.
Location - awesome.  Right across the street from Universal Studios.  They have a morning shuttle you can reserve for free, but they only do return trips between 4pm and 8:30pm.  It's about a 15 minute shuttle ride or walk.  A cab ride to the park is $7, but a ride back is $4.20 (which I don't get, but whatever).
Food - breakfast was great; they always had a good selection of cereal, fruit, hot and cold food.  We did not try the other food that you could order (burgers, sandwiches, apps, etc.), but it sounded great and the prices were not outrageous.

One tip if you're taking a cab from the airport - be sure to be very specific with which Hyatt Place you're going to.  We said, "Hyatt Place Universal" and ended up at another one that's about 3 miles down the road.  We didn't find that out until we almost had a heart attack with the front desk agent said, "sorry, don't see a reservation for you in here".

Overall, it was a great hotel in all aspects - food, location, price, staff and cleanliness.  We will definitely stay here again!

We stayed here for 3 nights and brought our dog. I must say, it was better than I thought. The rooms are spacious but as everyone stated, the bathroom is a bit small. The pillows are uncomfortable and the elevator is sloooooow. Although it had those negatives, this hotel was great. The customer service is awesome, especially Jenny. She is by far the most friendliest person. Very helpful and good to chit chat with.
The shuttle was great. We used it for Universal. Take advantage if it people!! I usually stay at hotels that are more "fancier" (as my friends would say. Lol), but I would def stay here again. Loved it :)

We ended up booking at the Hyatt Orlando through Hotwire because the Cabana Bay Beach Resort couldn't accommodate us an extra night. The rooms are big and spacious and I had a great night's sleep. Check in and check out took less than a minute. After checking out on our way to the park we realized that we had left my sons favorite pillow, I called in and they held it for us to pick up later in the evening. I highly recommend the place, it's affordable, clean and you can get a great night's rest.

This is a massive hotel right on the waterfront and they've done a decent job of keeping it up. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are freezing cold in winter. There's a separate heating system in there for when you are dressing, but middle of the night stops can be quite painful.

There were no surprises; Hyatt is dependable and you know what you're getting with them so the only reason I'm posting this is to particularly note that my family enjoyed the breakfast both mornings we were there, commenting that the egg dishes and the breakfast sausage and the pancakes were all good (in contrast to the last Hyatt House where we had stayed). The fact that it was walking distance to the Universal parks was very helpful, as the shuttles were full on occasion and we had too hoof it either to or from the parks. Yes, the shower/tub is very basic and the pool is small and the wifi was unusable most of the time (probably due to all the teens in the hotel using it for their social networking), but for our purposes this hotel fit the bill just fine for our family of four.

Hyatt place is so awesome.  Customer service is the best.  Their breakfast is the bestest I have ever had!

This location in particular is right near the Universal Studios entrance, but you cannot walk there.  There are free shuttles for universal and $16 a person for shuttles to take you to the Disney resort.  Just keep in mind you are travelling with people who are staying at different hotels, so on the way back for Disney it took us almost an hour to get home!  I was exhausted!!

one night on the way back from the parks I had the munchies, and Hyatt has 24/7 food service.  You just got to come downstairs and pick it up.

My family stayed here for 3 days. Really close to universal. There's a shuttle you can take to get to the park. We missed it and had to walk. It's still only 20 min walking distance. We left the privacy sign bc we font usually like people coming in when we're not inside but they left towels and toiletries at the door daily for us. Hotel lobby and community areas are small but we didn't really need this space since we were so tired from being at the park all day. You can purchase tickets to universal here and avoid long lines at the park.

I stayed here on a business trip and found the place great. The rooms are big and recently updated, the bathrooms are a little cramped but that is understandable in a property of this type. Really friendly staff who were happy to help with anything I needed as well.
It's not a resort with a spa or ocean views but if you are looking for somewhere to stay at a reasonable rate is a great option.

Absolutely loved this place!
My family and I decided to plan a last minute trip to Orlando to visit universal studios. We have 2 small dogs which made it difficult to find something the day before our planned visit. We have never traveled with our pets because of the hassle of having to find a trust worthy kennel in another city and I'm not big on kennels either. This place blew me away for the price and location! The room was very spacious and clean. The staff was great and breakfast was great also. I would for sure be visiting Orlando more often now that we have a pet friendly hotel to go too. Also all Hyatt hotels are pet friendly!

My family and I stayed here recently while visiting Disney World during the WDW Marathon week.

The check-in process quick and the staff was friendly. The hotel is conveniently located right off the freeway and about 20 minutes from Disney. It's a few blocks away from Universal Studios.

The room is fairly spacious and clean. The TV accepts HDMI inputs so bring your ChromeCast and a wifi router if you want to stream. (I wasn't able to get it to work through the hotel wifi)

Loved the daily free hot breakfast provided by the hotel. M-F til 9:30am, Sat/Sun til 10am. Philip was the highlight of this hotel! He greeted every guest and made sure they were being taken care of. During breakfast he was seen running around restocking food, cleaning, or helping out guests. He noticed I was bringing food back up to my room for the kids and brought me a togo box for easier transport! After the morning meal, he is seen cleaning and vacuuming. Philip was non-stop. He made it a point to get to know guests and their names.

We had a few minor issues with our stay:
-thermostat was broken
-slow draining sink and tub
Both issues were resolved fairly quickly after alerting the appropriate staff.

In the mornings, the two elevators can take a while, so I'd recommend taking the stairs if you can.

This was my first time staying in this hotel. I have to say that I was very impressed with the customer service. Both  Robert and Jenny were extremely nice and I was shocked that called be by my name every time they saw me. That's something you don't see often especially with all the hotel guest that come thru. The only drawback was that my room 518 was on a part of the hotel that for some reason didn't receive the wifi signal. But other than that I def will be coming back to stay here for my travel trips and look forward to staying in other Hyatts.

Really a great hotel.

updated

I just think that the order on the phone and come down and get it could be upgraded to full room service but that's just me.

Burger from the dial and retrieve menu was ok....not amazing.

room was really clean and nice.

The only weird things are the elevators. VERY OLD AND SLOW.

kind of pricey but I get it with the location

A great place to stay!

The staff were all very friendly and made sure that your stay was perfect. You can call downstairs to order food or coffee and they'll call you to pick it up once it's finished. The complimentary breakfast is also pretty good!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. We placed the do not disturb sign on the door as we normally do since we have trust issues with others going about our things... They would just hang a bag of towels on our door to ensure that we had some clean ones everyday. This really impressed me! Also, I walked about the hotel room floors with white socks and no grayness/ black appeared! I guess you can say that it was very clean!!

The only downside to our stay was that we couldn't find a way to tip the lady at the food area/ bar, which may be a good thing for some people but being in the service industry, I wanted to leave a tip. Other than that, the room had charging stations, the TV had available parts so that you can hook your computer up to it and the shower was very spacious. Next time I come to universal, I would definitely stay here again.

Hyatt place is always my favorite place(if not at encore in LasVegas)
The food was good and fresh
Location is easy and situated right outside of universal city
Service was good and kind
Business center was available and in working order
Pool was a steamy 78 but it was only 60 outside when I visited :(
The elevator is the slowest elevator, book a low floor.

A recommended place to stay..

The hotel is located minutes away from Universal Studios and about 20 minutes away from Disney World. It's really in a great location, it's not too far from anything.

During the entire stay, the employees made me feel welcomed. Whether you leave in the morning to head to a park or arrive in the evening from dinner, the employees either respond with "welcome back" or "have a great day".

The hotel seemed renovated and was pretty clean. The rooms were large and spacious. I stayed in a standard room with 2 double beds and a pull out sofa, which was accommodating for up to 6 people. The only downside about staying in a room with that many people is that there was only 1 bathroom. The housekeeper made sure there were enough towels, blankets and pillows for everyone in the room.

The complementary breakfast was more than I was expecting. There was a variety of breakfast ranging from fresh fruit to French toast. They also have hot tea and hot coffee. I made sure to wake up everyday to enjoy the complementary breakfast, which was until 10am everyday.

The next time I travel to Orlando, I will stay at this hotel. And the next time I travel anywhere else, I'll be sure to look for a Hyatt hotel. Would recommend to anyone!
