Maybe it was the stay at the "gun and knife show" the night before in Houston, or the horrific experience I had with a La Quinta in Nashville almost 2 years ago, but I found this place to be...well...a surprisingly comfortable stay.

We stayed here largely because they accept pets (and we were traveling with our two dogs).  But the room was comfortable and clean, the rate was very reasonable, the wireless worked without a hitch, and things felt very safe.

Reasons for not going to 4 stars:
-Breakfast was pretty lame.  Cereal was the best option.

-This isn't the hotel's fault, but some dickhead was putting out chocolates on the parking lot to attempt to poison the dogs that were staying there.  I know this to be the case because I picked up 4 of them, thinking there was a possibility someone had dropped them, and came down 1/2 hour later to two more in the same spot.

-3 flights of stairs with no elevator?  Hey, I'm in reasonably good shape, but it would have been nice to get everything on a luggage cart & roll it into the room.  Not an option.

All in all, a solid 3-star hotel priced accordingly.  Especially if you have pets and a laptop.

NEVER AGAIN!! After I told the manager about my "less than stellar" experience here a few months back, they actually asked for another chance along with a free-night certificate. Well, after the sleepless night I just spent here I feel like "fool me once"...You know the rest. I put the chair in front of the door before trying to get some sleep. The creepy feel of the bed prompted a closer look...you guessed it bed bugs YUCK! After attempting some sleep on top of the covers I have taken 2 showers and am leaving as fast as possible.

Dang this place is nasty. Stains were all over the floor. There was still dog poop on the floor that I stepped on when I opened the door. Ewwwwww.

I thought this motel was perfectly fine, and considering it was $69 a night, that's a great deal!

The room was decent. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were great. The bathroom was okay.

The hotel was easy to fine, easy to get around from. (We went to Pace, the airport, downtown, and Pensacola Beach. And we didn't have trouble getting to or from the hotel.)

The pool was fine. (It was small, but there weren't very many people in it any of the times I went swimming, so it was fine). I thought the fence around the pool added a lot of privacy, which was good.

The bathroom beside the pool needs some work. I was surprised by how terrible it was. The outdoor showers were no longer hooked up. The sink was rusting through. There was no soap. So don't use this bathroom, and you'll be fine.

The people at the front desk were as nice as can be. They were so helpful and nice. They even let us check in early.

The free breakfast wasn't the best breakfast, but I don't think it was worth complaining about. There was oatmeal, cereal, bagels, muffins, bananas, oranges, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs plus orange juice and apple juice. For me that was great because I could have a relatively healthy breakfast, and it was free!

Oh, and there was free internet!

I heard a lot of people complain while we were there. If you pay under $100 a night, you know that you are not in a luxury hotel. But this place was clean, comfortable, cheap, came with a pool, free breakfast, and free internet, so I would absolutely stay here again.

The bathroom was dirty. There was less than a half roll of toliet paper in the room. The coffee in room was nasty, and they only had one pack of sweetener/cream/sugar. Hello, there were two people.
We are limited as to where we can stay as we have two dogs, but I am going to be looking around for another option.

Horrible!!! Nasty sheets, tub  and the room smelled horrible !! experience Do Not stay here it looks like hotel that does hourly rates if you catch my drift. The corporate office should be ashamed ! This is a post after being switched around to another room cause the first had stains on the sheets. I'm so disappointed in this place  I took pictures to post so just maybe the corporate company will see them and decide they value their brand and make some immediate changes.

The area gives a bad vibe and didnt feel safe not being able to see our moving truck since we had to stay on the opposite side where rooms were available if you had a pet. Limited parking available if you have a large moving truck. Room was smelly and very small. We left after 30 min. and decided to go the La Quinta in Panama City Beach which was 100x nicer and plenty of parking for a big moving truck. I would stay away if safety and security is a concern with a moving truck.

We stayed at La Quinta last night and would not recommend this place. When we walked up to the front door of the lobby it was dirty with peeling paint. Once we entered, the lobby smelled like pinesol cleaner. Most unpleasant. The guest clerk did not so much as smile and was sullen and acted like she hated her job. We asked for a ground floor room which she did find for us. The door to the room looked like it had been shot with a paint shot gun. Dirty and peeling paint again.  The room smelled like pee! It was dirty with finger prints all over the doors and door jams. The floor in the bathroom was dirty and looked like it had not been mopped in ages. The toilet room was so small with such a low ceiling that had we been over six foot tall we would have been touching the ceiling. In the morning we went to the breakfast room. I don't think there was anyone there to attend the food service because we did not see anyone. I used a dry napkin to wipe down a table in full sight of the desk clerk who later came into the room and wiped down all the other tables after she watched me. She had a sour face just like the clerk who was on duty the evening before. The area was dirty with food on the floor. I don't have much to say about the food offered. The usual cold cereal, bagels, muffins, juice and hard boiled eggs. We were happy to leave in the morning as this place gave us the heeby jeebies. Nothing at all like the commercials you see on TV. Would never recommend to anybody.

Tacky.  The worst La Quinta I've been in.  WI - Fi only works occasionally. Old carpey.  Not well cleaned.  Not worth the price.

#laquinta14 - not organism friendly
Floors were stained
The room smelled; needed Lysol and febreeze
Half-used bottle of conditioner awaiting
Strange gecko never escaped the room
Hotel management was near nonexistent
Air conditioner reeked of families destroyed by fire
Maids burst in without consent
No waffle iron--wtf?
Stained, sticky floors
Walls were ratchet
No extra blankets or towels or pillows

#laquinta14: no one sleeps

Made reservations online, got to the hotel and NO NO NO!  Old, dated, sketchy.  I only walked in the room before deciding not the place for me

From what I could tell in the 60 seconds I was in the room, it appeared to be clean, hard surface floor (linoleum I think - no carpet thank goodness), and while I didn't touch the bed, at least the covering was the newer trend of all white and appeared to be clean and  in good conditions.

Beyond that, the ceilings were low, the furniture old and dated, the room was small and dark and the contents sparse.

In use to be a big LaQuinta fan because I frequently travel with my puppies and the first few LaQuintas I stayed at were fresh and new.  But I'm finding that many of the LaQuinta locations are like this one or worse and in much need of a major refresh or complete remodel.

I paid a little more to go around the corner to the Holiday Day Inn Express but it was well worth it!!

If I could leave no stars I would!!!! We get to this place after a long two days of travel and we finally get in at a decent time and just want to rest and what do we find in our bed?!? BED BUGS!!!! And not just one, at least 6 of them!!! It was the grossest thing I have ever encountered!!!! Ugh I'm still grossed out thinking about it!!! Check the beds if you stay there!!!!

Wow. I wish I could give this place no stars. We drove 12 hours, and picked La Quinta because they are dog friendly. We would have left if we hadn't been so tired, and if we knew of any other dog friendly hotels nearby. The room smelled of smoke. The carpet was so stained we made sure not to touch it with our bare feet. The bed linens were discolored, and there was hair in our beds. We suspected that the maid did not use fresh linens but used the same sheets as the previous occupant. We used towels, which appeared to be clean, to cover the pillows to sleep on. The room we were in had an adjoining door to the room next door. You could hear your neighbor's conversation (and TV) perfectly through the walls. If I did not know better I would assume this place offered hourly rates.

This experience has colored my view of La Quinta. I will definitely think twice before staying at one again.

If you are heading East, our recommendation is to keep driving until you get to Destin. Pensacola, in general, doesn't seem that nice of a place.

I read all the other reviews for this hotel after we booked it but before we got here and the other reviews were terrible but over dumb things like "the lobby smelt like pinesol" (which I'm pretty sure is a good thing) or "the paint was cracked outside" (which I don't get what has to do with your stay at all) or "the front desk staff was terrible" (which they were super nice to us).
The hotel was clean, they allowed our dog with no extra charge, the room was great especially for the price, the breakfast was fine. If you're thinking about staying here, do it!!
