Very nice and clean room. Everything you would need for a comfortable enjoyable stay. I did not find one thing wrong. Free WiFi worked great. Loved the complementary toiletries. They were higher quality than I have seen in a hotel room. Very close to beach. Convenient and plentiful parking. Complimentary coffee in the lobby. Very nice workout room with stem room and sauna. We would definitely return when we visit this area again.

On the same block as the beach (not beachfront, but you don't have to cross any streets to get there) and walking distance to many restaurants and shops.  Great place to bring the family.  The rooms and common areas are all marble floors, columns, etc.  Very elegant look to it.  My family and I had a great time.  Comfortably fit the 5 of us (although one is still in a crib).  BTW, for Active Duty Military, they offer the government official travel rate even if you're there for liesure.  (Only cost us $95/night when we were there.)  We will definitely be going back!  The WiFi must've been fixed since last year's reviewer complained, because it was strong and certainly available in our room.

Clean rooms, friendly service, and nice amenities (fridge, cable, small gym & spa). Very close to everything I needed to get to while on a trip visiting family in the area.

Didn't get a chance to try the restaurant, but heard great things.

I stayed here 3 1/2 years ago, but it was such a great hotel that I thought it should be mentioned here.

Great customer service, clean rooms, nice amenities  -- A bit pricey, but well worth the price. This is a great place for a honeymoon or romantic getaway.

If you have a big family vacation, however, you might want to stay at a cheaper hotel. And the only thing that I did not like was that the hotel was somewhat a drive from downtown St. Augustine.

I LOVED this hotel! Our room was huge! Plenty of room for our family of four (2 queen beds). We had plenty of floor space, plus a desk and a table and 2 chairs. There was a nice tiled area when you walk in where you could leave all your sandy shoes and bathing suit stuff. The bathroom had a huge walk-in shower, and a separate vanity area that was large with lots of counter space. The staff was super nice and helpful. This hotel isn't ocean-front, but is a short walk to the beach. I really can't think of anything bad to say about this place! We will stay here the next time we are in St. Augustine!

We had a great stay at this hotel.   The room was very clean and nicely updated.   I haven't slept that good in a long time thanks to the comfortable mattress and bedding.   Pool was small but nice.   Location was excellent.   We did eat at the hotel and although not included in stay was amazing.  Staff was very personable and accommodating.   Would absolutely stay here again.

If you are looking for a romantic getaway, this is a place to go. The jacuzzi suites are fantastic, big, clean and affordable. The walk to the beach is literally half a block off the white-sanded and pristine St Augustine coast line. The staff was super kind, friendly and helpful making sure my 5 year anniversary was as an unforgettable experience. I think they just found themselves a new loyal costumer ;-)

The only downside I see to this awesome place is the service of the restaurant downstairs. They are on the rude side with overpriced/limited food choices. With good reason Castillo Real staff makes sure to let you know that they are not by any means associated.

This was second stay at Castillo Real, An Ascend Hotel Collection Member. First stay was in September 2007. On both occasions I enjoyed it. Good clean room, discrete but warm service. It's a bland hotel but there is a good feel to the place architecturally - even though it is not special there is good natural light, layout seems sensible - more like an apartment block than a hotel. Also the staff are not sycophantic. Fitness Room is great, didn't use the pool.

The Castillo Real has improved quite a bit since we last stayed there two years ago.  The WIFI worked perfectly and so did the fridg.  The receptionist was very friendly and provided us with pertinent info about the hotel.

Although the hotel has a breakfast, you must make your selection from a list and purchase a voucher the evening before.  I don't know if I feel like french toast or pancakes until I get up in the morning.  No thanks on that.

The beach is just a few minutes walk behind the hotel.  We enjoyed our visit, and we will plan on staying here the next time we are in the area.

Definitely enjoyed my stay here! The place was steps from the beach. The front desk lady.. Which I've forgotten her name... She was so nice, so pleasant, and so helpful! The rooms were clean, the shower was huge, and the decor was different from their usual hotels. We loved it and would def stay again!

This hotel is a nice alternative to the rental condos up and down the beach. I've never been one to want to stay in someone else's place on vacation (I always turn down relatives' offers to crash at their place) as I just really enjoy the whole hotel experience when traveling. I searched high and low for a nice and affordable real hotel on the beach and found Castillo Real.

The hotel itself is pretty nice. It's a beach hotel and not super classy, but the rooms were big, the bathrooms were huge with a ton of counter space (which comes in handy when the two of you are trying to get ready-they even have a nice vanity mirror for the ladies), the shower was roomy, and the staff were all very nice.

My only gripe is that the inner window curtains are sheer and the outer ones don't come together. Sooooo you get light in your room the entire night from the parking lot, moon. Whatever.  We used my hair clips to hold the drapes together so we could get some sleep.

I'd go back of I were in St. Aug again. I just have to remember to bring my hair clips.

Purchased this hotel on an express deal, which doesn't give you the name til after payment. The hotel is a 3 star, so it is a bit nicer than many of your standard choice hotels- has stone flooring and a cozy bed. LOVED the plush floor mat in the bathroom. The location served me well and is close to the beach.

The bad: VERY noisy, perhaps the most noise of any hotel I've been in. C'mon you really shouldn't be able to hear the full conversations coming from the next room. Also, minor oversights in the bathroom with some hair on the floor and in the shower.

Castllio Real is my wife and myself's go to weekend get away place and has been for the last 10 years or so. We really enjoy relaxing on the beach and by the pool and hot tub. The restaurant is really first class, with excellent selections and fantastic deserts. We come down here 3 to 4 times a year and totally enjoy our visits. So I highly recommend Castllio Real as a Prime place to stay when you're in the St Augustine area.
