Delightful.  On beach.  Reasonable price. Not deluxe, but we wanted to be on the beach at a reasonable cost and we got that.  Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here when I was in FL for Christmas. My husband and I had a nice room with a king size bed. Some rooms overlooked the beach and we were in one that overlooked the street. I was impressed that there was no noise that we could here in the room from S A1A. My in -laws had a view from the 3rd floor of the beach. They have a nice spread in the morning for food- one rotating hot item (while we were there- omlette one morning with hash browns, one morning sausage and egg patty, scrambled eggs and bacon one morning and I can't remember the other one) In addition there is the waffle machine that was oh so popular, bread varieties, fruit, cereal and yogurt. The standard continental breakfast at a hotel. the only thing I didn't like is that matress and pillows were not the most comfertable- so 1/2 a star off for that but overall great.

Just had a short stay here but it was comfortable and convenient.  I checked into room 222 which had just had the carpet replaced and the odor from the glue was really strong.  No problem as the front desk moved me to room 118.  The only thing was the free wifi worked in 222 but not at all in 118. After checking in I walked right across the street to the Sunset Grill and had a great meal.  I would stay here again even though my comforter smelled like cheap cologne.

Good location, hotel condition is nice enough and fairly clean.  Staff has potential but could use an etiquette brush-up, they were a little unfriendly and inflexible compared to every other Hampton Inn we have been to.  Overall the hotel just needs a few tweaks.  Good is fine, but great is better!  May return, not sure though.

Pretty good place!  If you haven't been here for a while you'll notice the beach is about 7-8x larger since Feb. 2012.  The city spent $49 million re-sanding the beach.  This happens every 8 years.  Fabulous beach!

So let me start by saying in the end this was a great hotel... However in the beginning when we first arrived after our 7 hour drive I had to take a pretty significant dunkus. I went into the lobby bathroom only to find to my horror blood vomit and fecal matter all over the place. OMFG! Well needless to say I took my dunkus elsewhere! Okay now that I got that off my chest I can talk about the room. Our room was large and clean it faced the street but still provided wonderful views. Our ac was cold and the sheets were clean. The location is great you can walk to just about any beach attraction that St. Augustine has to offer. The frat boys had the hot tub outside on lock down the entire time we were there I take this as a sign that it was a decent tub... The complimentary breakfast was good. Not great but good. The elevator didn't eat me which is another plus. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. By the looks of some of the exteriors of the competition  I think we made the right decision.

Oh I just remembered the wifi is free however we had to connect with our code way too often. Free is good but this was a pain in the butt.

Well, I just really like this place.  Not super cheap for a Hampton but it's on the beach so it's to be expected.  Front office staff very friendly.  Let me upgrade to the jacuzzi room.  Mostly I wanted to be beach side rather than street side.  Having the jacuzzi in the main room, not in the bathroom just made me think that my room had seen some action if you know what I mean.

Liked having a pool and the ocean right there.  Ate across the street so didn't need to drive anywhere.  Breakfast was fine.  We got a table but it's not a huge area so some had to eat in the hall.

Will stay here again when I come back in the fall.

Location is great! The beachfront description is true. We stayed in room 201, which had a beach front view. While the location should be enough to give this property 2 thumbs up, being a Hilton Honors member and frequent guest of other Hampton Inns across the country, this room needed a lot of improvement. Please change the bed! It is hollow in the center. Almost felt like sleeping in a hammock.

Friendly Staff. Amber at the front desk was so lovely and had a very cute southern accent! Stephanie from Breakfast was a nice lady too. A man asked her why she got a big smile on her face. She said ''because I woke up today"!

Amber informed us that their homebaked cookies served at 7pm is a must have, so we got there to have the cookies!! They were super yummy like she said.

Breakfast is included and it's very standard, eggs, sausage, waffle maker, fruits, coffee, tea, yogurt, muffins, pastries, bagels, cereal, oatmeal.

It's right by the beach so if you get an ocean view room, you will see the beach (with swimming pool, and maybe a small parking lot in between), but it is nice to leave the balcony door open to listen to the sound of waves.

Overall, a good experience and would go back again.

Off to a bad start, 1 hour check in delay. No fans in the bathrooms.

Just checked in. Nice front desk person. Got to room. Tv doesn't work. They are trying to fix it and won't let me change rooms yet.

Lumbar pillows on the bed don't look like they've been washed for a month or more.

We'll see how it goes from here...

OK.  Spent the night.  Loud people in the hallway.

Not my kind of property.  Nuff said.

The hotel is pretty standard for a Hampton Inn, being in the "budget" tier of Hilton properties.  The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the A/C worked great.

What sets this place apart though, is the whirpool tub rooms and the proximity to the beach.

I opted to splurge a bit and get a room with a whirlpool tub.  Separate from the bathroom and shower, this tub sits out in the open right next to the bed [see photos]. Let's just say... it's a good room for couples.

Each water-facing room has a little patio in the back with a couple of chairs, should you want to catch a sunrise or just hang out [see photo].

Through the lobby to the back of the hotel is a door that lets you out to the pool and the boardwalk to the private beach entrance.  It's nice. I walked out there in the morning, stopped about halfway down the boardwalk to watch a few wild rabbits hopping around and nibbling in a grassy area, and continued out to the beach entrance.

A couple of minor annoyances: The parking lot is too small to handle a full hotel.  We got back late one night and I had to park under the overhang by the front door.  When I woke up in the morning, I went out and there was at least four cars under that overhang.  The room that they have the free breakfast items in is also too small for a crowd.  It was a nightmare trying to get through all of the people that were waiting in line, or just milling about aimlessly.  No tables were available so we had to go out into the pool area to eat.  Also, they ran out of little cream cheese tubs for the bagels and when they put more out, they were frozen solid.

Still not a bad place.  We'll come back as the opportunity arises.

First off, staff was great!!! Only reason it got a 3 star...
Stayed in room 316, just for a night
Asked for a double queen bed suite.
Call me crazy but those must of been FULL size... They felt tiny!!!!

I have stayed at Hampton inns through out the US and their quality standard for this room was not the same. ( I travel very regular due to my job although this was a family trip which is what made it even more disappointing, after my daughter had found a room at a holiday inn of some sorts in the area I told her NOWAY!!! After seeing the Hampton inn, I said to her that ( Hampton inns had better rooms) BOY DID I FEEL STUPID!!!
I regret to say I was disappointed in the room.
AGAIN, the person on staff (Shannon) was super polite and helpful. I have no complaints on the customer service

We didn't eat in the breakfast area due to time restraints but it did seem tiny for the amount of rooms on the property.
Probably won't be staying there again.
    Thanks,

I love this hotel & the staff. They have the best general manager EVER, Kristin! This is our 2nd trip & they welcomed us back like family. They are so very accommodating & ready to offer suggestions & pointers on what to do & how to make the most of our visit. We have never had better customer service at any hotel ever!!!!!

Hilton Garden Inn was sold out so we tried the Hampton. Beautiful hotel by the beach. Clean & modern rooms with patios. Complimentary breakfast from 6-10, complimentary cookies at 7pm, and complimentary coffee/tea/hour cocoa all the time. Friendly staff. Decent gym with updated equipment. Pool and hot tub located inside.

Well, this is not so good.

I'm a Hampton Inn regular (a HHonors Diamond), and have stayed in dozens of them throughout the country.  This is a poor one.  Here's my rundown:

    GOOD:
    - Location is great.
    - Private beach is big and right out back.

    BAD:
    - It needs a full renovation.  It is old.  The hallways are dark.  The carpet is worn.
    - The breakfast area is TINY.  Read more below.
    - The parking lot is too small and gets completely full every night.

Breakfast is a disaster.  It's tiny.  There are about six 4-top tables, maybe six 2-tops, and that's it.  It was totally slammed every morning.  The line for food was 15 people deep, and blocked the coffee.  Trashcans were overflowing.  Tables were filthy.  It's just woefully inadequate for the number of rooms and guests at this property.

So I'm disappointed.  Hampton is usually very consistent, and I trust them.  They let me down at this site.  It is just not up to the standards of Hampton Inn.

The view from our balcony was great, the friendless of the staff even better. However the bed sucked I would rather have slept in the chair.  The access to beach and breakfast was ideal and better than expected they must get better beds and larger TVs to make this an ideal place.

Good value, GREAT location, and a very personable front desk staff!  Clean rooms, accommodating and comfortable.  We would definitely stay here again!  Our room was on the first floor with a patio that was connected right to the pool/hot tub area!  One wish is that there was a gate on our patio fence so we could get to the pool without having to leave the room.  You couldn't possibly ask for easier access to the huge beach.  Also a great playground that my 4 year old LOVED!

I love being a Hilton Honors member. Seriously one of the best decisions I ever made and I am not joking. American Express/Hilton Honors - watch your points GROW. Plus your incentive to frequent Hilton properties when you travel. Game on.

So here we are...best girlfriends weekend, St Augustine Florida and we found a Hampton Inn on A1A on the beach for a very reasonable cost. $179 a night. Bit much for a Hampton but it's on the beach. You walk out and you are on the beach.

The staff is AWESOME. Front desk, housekeeping. Just amazing. You get the same consistent service anytime of the hour or day.  When you pull up the property is very Florida. By that I mean screaming pink building. Plus, the property is older. It's not NEW so you have to manage your expectations a bit compared to other Hampton Inn properties.  We had our own balcony.  Our own micro, fridge. The shower pressure was awesome. The pool was perfect. There is a whirl pool as well.  The fitness center looked very small but again, who wants to go there when you roll outside of your bed and you're at the beach? And I LOVE to workout! :)

Would totally go back in an instant. One of the best hotel experiences ever.
