I'd agree with 3-1/2.  Very pleasant personnel, perfectly nice  room, good experience.  Nothing particularly high-end or memorable.

Too many (loud young) school groups and internet connection just sucks.

3 1/2 stars.  This hotel is in a good location.  It was a short drive to the area with all the cute restaurants and bars.  The rooms are clean and comfortable, which is the most important thing to me when staying at a hotel.  I would stay here again.

Clean rooms, great location, nothing special but hey, it's a Holiday Inn.

This is your standard Holiday Inn property.  Nothing special or out of the ordinary.  You would want to stay here for the great location.  It is within a 15 minute walk to the historic area of St. Augustine.  The staff was nice and no problems staying here. Some people may prefer a location a little bit closer to the action in the historic district.  But if you don't mind walking and the price is right, this is a great property.

Good location, decent rooms. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, but not free. We didn't have any problem with the internet connection.

Friendly staff, good location.

Beds were hard and the noise from the next room through the connecting door of a couple in a domestic disupute as well as one of them sobbing all night long made our stay there less than enjoyable.

This hotel was nice the room was comfortable.  We got the king jacuzzi tub room, the bed was comfortable and the tub was also great.  The room was clean also.  The tv did Stop working but we didn't really need it.  The staff was very nice from check in to check out.  We needed toothpaste and they gave us a travel sized tooth paste for free.  It is decently close to the historic district, the website made it seem like it was my much closer.  I would come back here If i needed but I would try to look for something more walking distance.

It's on a busy road and not close to the main attractions. It's a long walk to anything worth seeing. My customer experience was an all time low. There are many other quality choices for the money.

Unlike the other reviewers we thought the hotel was clean and well maintained. Its centrally located to downtown, Flagler College and the historical attractions. Much to our surprise, the breakfast buffet was good. The food was well seasoned and there was a good variety of options. The "concierge" was an uninformed salesperson, she provided no assistance to us. We gained much more information from the front desk agents who were very knowledgeable about the city and its attractions.

Not what we expected from a Holiday Inn. A huge mistake on my part doing a on line booking. Pictures are deceiving and the room is Dirty from the carpet to the bed cloths. Even several pieces of the furniture is dirty, surely won't walk bare footed on the carpet. The hall carpet is clean and looks great and the entrance is nice but the room is a dump. The broom closet style room is small enough that one would think it would be easy to keep clean. My first experience was a snobbish one from the desk clerk and the lemon juice that was available was a jar of warm water and a few sliced lemons tossed in for color. First sip went to the trash, that was alone an insult. Pictures show a nice front of the Hotel in actual reality there is an auto repair facing directly in front of the hotel on Ponce De Leon Blvd. The Hotel is directly behind the repair shop like an alley cat hidden from sight except a huge sign that says Holiday Inn and Suites. These pictures on their site is not showing this in the photos. There is a Days Inn next to it has a corner lot with a Denny's  included. Well we are stuck here for four nights and am not a happy camper. This Holiday Inn is not a three star Hotel I would not have given it a one but that was the only choice. Last time I shall stay in any Holiday Inn anywhere, over rated and over priced.

This hotel was about a mile away from the downtown area of St Augustine where we really wanted to stay, but it was priced so low that we couldn't make the argument to spend $100 more a night to save ourselves a little walk.  The hotel is gorgeous and the room was very comfortable and nicely equipped with coffee-maker and mini-fridge.  Convenient parking and friendly staff.

I've stayed here twice, both times with our two small dogs. It's not a super fancy place but the location is good (within walking distance of the historic district - like 0.5 a mile away), the price is ideal and the staff bend over backward for you. And if you have pets it's ideal (nice big grassy area next to the property). They also have free breakfast and computers you can use. Love it!

The cinnamon-apple air freshener in the rooms was overpowering. We were allowed to move to a different room but it was just as bad. Otherwise clean & good location. But seriously the air freshener was THAT bad....

The marketing of this Holiday Inn says Historic District, but that is pushing it at best. It is nit walking distance to the Spanish Quarter, so prepare to battle & pay for parking each time you go to the main attraction area.

The staff were friendly, but this location needs major work to update its rooms and the basic functionality of the amenities. The hallways smelled of smoke and the breakfast was, well, a hotel breakfast. Kids under 13 eat free, which is nice for families with multiple children. The beds were comfortable and the towels were nice and thick.

The wall-mounted hairdryer overheated after ~3 mins of use and the front desk does keep extras for back-up; my hair was awesome for dinner out :/!! Maintenance came by and said they could not do anything because they have a full house. The lights built into the headboard did not work, which is a minor annoyance. The pool was under-filled and probably too warm because of a combination of FL heat and too little water. The ice machine was also constantly empty or not producing ice on the first floor. We reserved a suite because we have four kids. It sleeps six, but when we pulled out the hide-a-bed couch it was broken and ridiculously un-sleepable -- even for a small child. My daughter slept on it in the couch position; luckily we did not have our fourth child with us.

For the price, more than $200/per night, I expect a higher level of accommodation from Holiday Inn.

We received a room with two queen beds. One of the beds had dirty, wrinkled sheets that had not been changed! There were spots of blood and hair in the bed -- nasty! The bathroom wasn't very clean either. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I don't care if a hotel has out-of-date decor, but it.must.have.clean.sheets. The wifi didn't work, but that's not nearly as big of a deal as someone else's dirty bed linens.

On the positive side, the waitress for breakfast (not included in room price) was excellent. However, she did know we had received free breakfast vouchers because our room was unclean.

(And as an answer to those reviewers saying this hotel is not in the historic district -- it is not in the Colonial Quarter or in an ancient stone building, no. But we stayed in this hotel and walked to the historic district. It's definitely within comfortable and pleasant walkable distance. But like I said, I would never recommend this hotel!)

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff were warm and accommodating (yay for checking in early), the interior was fresh and clean (newly remodeled), the available Wi-Fi was good, and this hotel was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. I would definitely stay here again on a future trip to St. Augustine.

Overall a nice hotel. I've noticed some insects roaming around, some not so small, which isn't good to see. The biggest thing that I can not stand about this hotel is the absolutely terrible internet speeds. Both wireless and wired connections are almost unusable because they are so slow. They advertise "high speed" internet but I can load pages on my cell phone twice as fast without wifi(which doesn't even work on my iPhone, actually makes it slower).

This seems to be a running theme in my hotel reviews lately:
Cheap, clean and convenient. There is a lot to be said with those three C's though when you are trying to save a bit of cash, but still want a decent place to crash.

Looks like this location is doing a bit of renovation, and it was looking pretty good! Even better, there were no loud noises or construction happening while we were there.

Which, is was a super short stay, as we were only there for a quick sleep. We were down in St. Aug for the night, for some dinner and drinks, and wanted to be responsible adults, so we booked the room and hailed a cab.

As I mentioned, room was clean, bed was comfy and I was a little surprised to see Bath and Body works travel size products in the bathroom. (No weird off brand stuff that leaves your hair feeling like straw!) Yay.

I think this room was about $60 a night and is fairly close to downtown. If you are a tourist looking for more of a beachy stay... this won't be your spot, but probably about a 20 min drive to the beaches. But downtown is super cool, and only a few minutes away. (I wouldn't recommend walking though.)

I stay at Hampton s all up and down the east Coast ... NEVER NEVER have I been in a room where another bed was put in the room I assume for more money.. You just about had to crawl over the bed to get to another one. ( See pictures) so the story is..

A few nights ago I stopped at the Hampton Inn on Ponce de Leon in St Augustine. I asked the rate and because, the rate was reasonable I said great 2 nights please . Later that night I checked my bank account and I saw that I was charged much more than was stated lets say about $120.00 dollars more per night. I called the front desk placed the phone in the room on speaker so that my wife could hear . The front desk Associate said  " I have no problem correcting that" . The next morning I checked the charges again and nothing had changed . I walked down to the front desk and spoke with a Associate that said " he was not working and he would" check on that" later that day I stopped by the desk and was told that he "spoke with everyone concerned and they knew nothing about that rate"  Not to mention this but the room was so small that you had the crawl over the bed to get to the other side of the room. I have stayed at Hamptons for years near have I seen a room like this. So far I am being cheated out of over $100.00 a night and had a cracker box room. If they are doing this to me they have /will do it to other Guests.?

STAY AWAY

I stay here frequently for work and all of the room doors seem to be installed upside down, as each of the handles to the 10+ rooms I've reserved could only be opened by:
-tactical training
-psychic powers
-Houdini

However, the cleanliness of the place and the friendless of the staff (thanks Qabid) more than make up for the nightly tug-o-war I have with the door to my room!
